JAPAN VISA: LIST OF TRAVEL AGENCIES Accredited by the Embassy

JAPAN VISA: LIST OF TRAVEL AGENCIES Accredited by the Embassy

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double check with the authorities or other concerned entities for the latest updates.

Because of the sheer volume of applications, the Japanese Embassy doesn’t accept direct or walk-in applications, except in rare special cases. Instead, tourist and visit visa applications must be coursed through an officially designated travel agency, which will then compile and submit the applications in bulk.

The downside of this system, of course, is the service fee. The embassy’s processing of the visa is FREE-OF-CHARGE. But the travel agency will collect a service charge per application. But this system has ensured a fast, efficient way to process visa applications. In fact, the Korean Embassy has followed suit and employed a similar model recently. The fee varies from agency to agency, so if budget is a concern, contact them before showing up at their office.

Here’s how to apply for a Japan visa:

✅ tourist visa requirements, ✅ visit visa requirements.

Below is the list of all travel agencies that are accredited by the Japanese Embassy. Of these, we were able to try Attic Tours (Roxas Blvd), Reli Tours (SM Megamall), and Friendship Tours (Dusit Thani), and we didn’t encounter any problem with any of them.

I was just wondering if you were able to verify Universal Holiday’s Cebu branch ‘coz I am seeing a Cebu branch in their site but it is not listed in your page nor in the official site. I have tried this branch before and would really like to use their service again.

Yosh Dimen

Hi Mat, I think legit naman sya kasi yung accreditation ng Japan Embassy yata ay per company, hindi per branch. So since accredited yung Universal Holiday, most likely kasama lahat ng branches nila.

Mat

Update! I applied for multiple entry at the Cebu branch and thankfully na.approve naman. I asked them why they were not listed and I think it has something to do with limitation of what type of visa they were allowed to apply. Nakalimutan ko ano exactly yun. Hehehe. Yung inaply ko tourist visa w/o sponsor which is pwd nila i.process.

Thanks for the reply.

Patricia

Hello! Do I really need to apply a Japan visa in an accredited travel agency?

All applications will go through an accredited agency. But you can apply at other non-accredited agencies, but they will still course it through an accredited agency rin so mas mahal sya.

Nel

Hi For the visa application, since I just had my passport renewed, and of course it is all empty though i had made multiple travels in the past 5 years and it is all in the old passport. What can you advise for such? Would it matter if my new passport is empty? or should i send in also the copy of my old one? just to show that i have record of my old trips?

Hi Nel, I can’t say for sure because I had a different experience each time I applied. There was a time when the agency also took my old passport too. There were also times when they did not. So I’m not sure what the protocol is.

My advice is to just bring your old passport when you visit the agency and ask them for their reco. :D

Hi is canadian tours accredited? thank you.

Hi! Im on my graduate study program have my research conference presentation at Osaka Japan by January 2020.Do I need to apply a tourist visa Japan?Thank you for the reply.

Charmaine

I just wanted know po if it is possible that the applicant, being a student, his guarantor will not be his parents? His girlfriend will have to support and shoulder his travel expenses as a graduation gift for him. Would this be acceptable? Thank you in advance po.

Hi Charmaine, I haven’t tried something like this, so I don’t know for sure. But the biggest challenge here is proving the relationship.

According to the travel agency we consulted before, it’s still better if the sponsor is a close relative because you can easily prove the relationship using birth certificates.

Best to consult the travel agency where you will lodge your application.

Maji T. Mahilom

Hello good evening i apply japanese visa to traveland here in Sagay city…. Many documents needed from my japanese guarantor …and i comply it all but im waiting the original documents from japan because traveland ask me to bring along with me original documents from my guarantor or the person who invites me ..im hoping you will answer me about my few questions …it is needed to have an interview in japanese embassy? Can i do interview in cebu City only?

Hi Maji, if you’re visiting Japan for a short stay only, usually there is no interview.

eleny b cariaga

How much rate the travel agency charge for the processing of visa.

May plan po kami ng family ko na mag tourist visit sa Japan this year at ako po yung representative applicant. ask ko lang po sana apart po sa akin if kailangan din po ba yung wife ko at nung anak ko na adult ( 19y/o) na mag provide requirements such, employment cert., bank cert and ITR? Thanks

Hi ian, ang alam ko po, if kayo ung sasagot ng gastos, no need na for your wife and child. Basta same time kayo mag-apply.

Yung experience ko po kasi nung sinagot ko ung trip ng nanay ko and pamangkin ko, documents ko lang po ung sinubmit.

Pero tawag na lang din po kayo sa agency kung saan kayo mag-apply to be safe.

Depends on agency and type of visa. Tourist visas usually range P700-1000, Visit visas P1500-P2000. Call the agency where you plan to apply to be certain.

Karmela

Hi, I am a bit confused because there is actually another list in the Japan embassy website specifying the accredited agencies. I think there were only 7 listed (UHI, friendship, Panpacific, Reli, etc.). For the list you specified here, ang nakalagay sa embassy site is List of Registered Agencies. May difference ba ang dalawa?

Hi Karmela,

Thanks for raising this. We emailed the embassy to clarify. Hopefully they’d respond soon. :D

MJ

Perhaps di lang naupdate ni Japan Embassy yung website nila? When I checked din kasi sa website ng Japan Embassy, sa lower part, it shows na parang 2014 pa yata yung last update nila dun sa site.

Not sure. Let’s wait for the confirmation from the embassy.

I just received feedback from the embassy. Here’s their reply:

Accredited agencies are agencies that directly submit visa application to our office. Registered agencies are those allowed to handle package tours for Japan and they need to submit the applications to any of our accredited agencies.

Thanks, Karmela.

Nagreply na rin sila sa amin pero di nila nasagot ung question exactly. Anyway, we updated the post na rin. Thanks for sharing this. :)

Popular Locations to Visit in Japan

japan travel agency list

Before you hire an agent, however, it’s good to have a basic idea of where you would like to go. Below are some of the most popular destinations to help you narrow down your travel plans.

You could easily spend your entire trip exploring Tokyo and still find yourself wanting to see more. It offers something for everyone from sports and entertainment, to art, culture, history, cuisine, and shopping. If you plan to make Tokyo a part of your itinerary, be sure to look through our many activity guides to see what’s possible around the city.

Kyoto was once the medieval capital of Japan. Much of the old city is still preserved, making it a top destination for Japanophiles hoping for a peek into the country’s feudal past. You can still fully immerse yourself in traditional Japanese culture by visiting a variety of shrines, temples, and shop-lined alleys.

Distance from Tokyo:135 minutes by bullet train

>> English Group / Private Tours in Kyoto

Nikko , located to the north of Tokyo, is home to the famous Toshogu shrine. This shrine was dedicated to the Tokugawa shogunate and is considered one of the most beautiful and ornate shrines in all of Japan. The surrounding forest includes an impressive set of waterfalls, as well as some wonderful onsen , or natural hot springs.

Distance from Tokyo: 140 minutes by limited express train

>> English Tours in Nikko

Kamakura is a leisurely day trip from Tokyo and full of shrines and castles. This area was the capital of Japan during the Kamakura period. It offers a great combination of historical sites and hiking opportunities. Go just a little farther out to the nearby island of Enoshima for a fun day at the beach — a spot so relaxing you won’t believe Shinjuku is less than two hours away.

Distance from Tokyo: 60 minutes by local train

>> English Tours in Kamakura

Mt. Fuji, Japan’s iconic volcano, is unmistakable. The official climbing season is from May to October. It’s recommended that you only attempt the ascent during this period. There are many official groups with which you can make the ascent, so only seasoned climbers should try to go up solo.

Popular Seasonal Activities in Japan

japan travel agency list

There’s something for nearly every outdoor interest when it comes to touring Japan, but there are certain areas and activities that are particularly worth exploring depending on the season.

The most important event of spring is hanami , a fleeting week where all of the cherry blossoms bloom simultaneously in a blaze of soft pink. While it’s possible to guess which week will be blessed with the event each year, there are often changes in weather that result in the window changing, so we recommend casting your net wide for a longer stay to ensure that you get the chance to experience a picnic beneath a radiant canopy of flowers.

Summer is the typical season for international tourists, but be warned: major metropolises like Tokyo and Osaka get uncomfortably hot and humid. That being said, Japan has keeping cool down to an art form, and the most popular outdoor activities include summer festivals boasting music, singing, and drums that you will hear deep into the night.

There are also many opportunities to enjoy massive firework festivals throughout the season in Tokyo, Osaka, and other major cities. If your trip happens to line up with one of these events, be sure not to miss it.

The fall foliage is truly something to behold throughout Japan. The displays across the mountains rival any in the world. Especially against the backdrop of so many ancient temples and shrines, you can begin to understand why the Japanese hold nature sacred. With temperatures cooling, this is an ideal time to come to Japan.

Winter is perhaps the least popular of the seasons, unless you head north of Tokyo . Nagano and Niseko’s alpine slopes covered in powder snow are worth a visit at least once in your life if you’re an avid skier. After a full day’s activities, it’s common to find yourself sitting in front of a steaming communal hotpot or a bowl of intensely flavorful ramen. This is also a popular season to indulge in a hot spring vacation.

Arriving in Japan

The final question is where you will be flying into Japan: Haneda or Narita. Almost all international travel into Japan goes through these two major hubs, both located near Tokyo. While Narita is larger, it’s also further out of the way in Tokyo’s neighboring prefecture of Chiba. Haneda, on the other hand, is right in Tokyo.

Both airports have had significant facelifts in the last few years, and right now it’s not that difficult to travel into Tokyo from either one. If you would like more information, check out our full guides to traveling from Narita and Haneda into Tokyo

After only solo travelling for the last few years I was a little apprehensive to book a group tour. However the itinerary provided a great combination of scheduled activities and free time that made me feel like I got to see everything I wanted without feeling rushed. The guide (Alyssa) gave clear instructions and timings, even providing information during free time on what to do and how to get to suggested activities, and was available to quickly answer any question - regardless of how silly.
Japan is a trip to do Having a guide helps you navigate the complex train network and see places at the right time with less tourists and in a more orderly manner to capatalise on time Its physically challenging at times so you need a certain level of fitness to stay with group and pack light like it was suggested The accommodation is basic but clean however the Temple & Guesthouse were wonderful standouts for someone older (54) whose expectations regarding accommodation is more wanting luxury & privacy at end of the long days IMO a guide who speaks the language more fluently would of been beneficial and kept a sharper timeline for the majority who respected group punctuality rather than wait around for others What we saw in 10 days was exceptional with plenty of free time to explore privately

The tour was really only 6/7 days. I If you didn't do any of the optional tours on offer you only had a guide for 4 days! Having said that the options to Hiroshima and the day tour around Tokyo were very good. The accommodation was very good although the rooms were small. Our guide, Yusuke, was excellent. He spoke very good English and had a very broad knowledge of Japanese history and culture. We loved Japan. 😍
We did enjoy this tour as we saw the main sites that we wanted to see and met some nice people. Tour guide Yusuki was very nice and knowledgeable. However as he was only a contractor to Stunning Tours none of the problems with the tour were his fault. Firstly this isn't a 10 day tour as the guide says goodbye to you after 7 days and then you are on your own but with accommodation for 3 more nights at the last hotel, which in this case was at Haneda Airport. It was a nice hotel but with tiny rooms, so nowhere to put your luggage without tripping over it and no laundry which we were needing at this point of the tour. This type of hotel is a one, maybe two night stay not 4. Given the hotel was so far out of central Tokyo we checked out a day early to move into Shinjuku. All of the other hotels on the tour were in far away places. Our first 3 nights nights were at the airport hotel near Osaka Kansai airport, again quite a trip into Osaka. Another hotel was supposedly near the Toyota Museum, actually one hours drive in the bus so not really near. And a night in the mountains at a lodge with onsen in tiny basement rooms. The company did pay for the meal that night as there was nowhere else we could have bought food from. This was actually a really nice evening meal as the whole group socialised together for the first time, on night five! This was another problem with the tour, there was no introduction of fellow travellers, we all went around on our own getting to know each other. We could have done with the meal together on the first or second night. Also be aware that 3 of the days with the tour leader have to be paid for separately, some quite pricey. We were aware of this before we left and did 2 of the 3 which were very good. It was not all bad, we did have a great group of fellow travellers and we were in Tokyo at the perfect time for the cherry blossoms. Japan is a great country to visit, it is easy to get around, most signboards and announcements are in English as well as Japanese and the people are so lovely and helpful.

Accomodation in Takayama was so disappointing. Too far out from town, the futons were not traditional, just very thin foam. Intrepid, your standards have slipped. The guide Hiro was good but the fact that she had 2 trainee guides with the tour, distracted her. Generally not satisfied with our experience. P.R.
Fantastic trip of a lifetime! Amazing from start to finish. Itinerary was great and had a good balance with free time to explore what Japan had to offer. Shout out to our guide Takumi who was fantastic to be around and made this trip very special!

The tour organizer has very, very poor communication, planning and organizational skills. The final itinerary was sent 2weeks before the start of the actual trip, I have to remind them by email to send it to us asap as they promised it will be sent a month before the actual trip. We where told initially that they will arrange our airport transfer and have told them we will be arriving two days before the actual tour, but after days before we've been told that we have to do it ourselves. The two hotel from original itinerary was changed on the final one provided so it caused some confusion on our side. Their representative met with us on the first day of the tour to sort out our JR. Pass and it took 2hours of our precious time to do this, we almost missed the pre-booked museum that day. Their hotel choices where below average, first one is in Ikeburo with bfast included but only seaweed soup and toast where given, again we have to travel to Shinjuku station to get the train to Hakone (very inconvenient), they could just chosen a hotel in Shinjuku instead. In the morning next we arrived in Hakone, we supposed to drop off our luggage at the next hotel to free our hands to roam around the area and found that it was closed and nobody around to asked for information so we have to dragged our luggage back to the station to put them in the locker. I have contacted their representative but he even asked me the name of the hotel (unbelievable, how could he not know all this details). They replied around 2.30ish pm and was told it was unmanned and we where given a PIN number to access, again they should have known this important details and informed us even the day/night before the trip. The next day we travelled again to Kyoto, to avoid the hassle of dropping off our luggage palarva we've decided to use the coin lockers at the station. It was late in the afternoon when we arrived at the hotel the receptionist asked us to pay City Tax 1200yen for 3nights stay, this again we where unaware of. I messaged the representative and to the people on the WhatsApp group and question about this city tax, they said they will refund me with the money so no choice I have paid.Again breakfast was included but only varieties of bread available and some butter and jams and coffee or water. Unsatisfied again. On arrival at Hiroshima after 3days this is where the confusion happens as the name of the hotel was different on the final itinerary they've sent us (this was our mistake we owned this as we didn't checked the final itinerary). We've only stayed at the Flex hotel (supposed to be two nights) for a night as wanting to have more time in Osaka instead (paid privately for one night
I recently took a trip to Japan and visited Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Osaka, and I can confidently say it was one of the best travel experiences I've ever had! The tours were fantastic and provided great insights into each city's culture and history. The transportation was also very reliable, making it easy to get around from one city to another. The accommodations were top-notch, with comfortable rooms and excellent service. I highly recommend booking a trip to Japan with Bamba and experiencing all that it has to offer!

Much improved. I have been to Japan twice now both times with Discovi and this was by far the best trip I could have imagined. There are new guides all local Japanese every single one of them is amazing (Shinya was exceptional!) and a brand new Hotel not a hostal like before but even the hostal option is better this time. But the hotel has breakfast and it was AMAZING a mix of Japanese and American food. Great start to the day. And the PUB CRAWL!! Crazy night so much fun, thanks Discovi!
I expected this to be more touristy but I WAS SO SHOCKED This is a local tour! I felt like we had the nicest guides all Japanese and they knew so many little spots that you would never find yourself! Take this tour if you want to see the real Japan

Very disappointing, don’t book this if you want English, mostly Spanish. First hotel was substandard room although the hotel was nice our room was smelly and very old, mattress so old and hard it was difficult to sleep. 40 minute queue for breakfast even at 6.10 am. Hotel in Osaka was ridiculous, couldn’t get down in the elevator , as a result we were an hour late and missed a major sight. Given a glass of cheap wine to compensate!! Hardly
The overall experience was good . The itinerary was appropriate and well planned. The hotels were of a good standard. However, the quality of the guides varied throughout the tour.

This tour was fantastic. The tour owners are foodies so we were told and it showed. The tour itself was terrific and well organized but on top of that the restaurant and other food choices etc. were just stellar.
I toured with my sons, aged 18 and 21. The whole tour was perfectly paced. Comfortable accommodations in great locations including a couple nights in traditional rooms. Outstanding food every meal. Visited temples, shrines and castles everyone needs to see. Even touristy-experiences (rickshaw ride, silk dyeing, dressing in kimono in Iyashi No Sato, which we were reluctant to remove!) were entertaining. We were not prepared for the incredible awe of the Itchiku Kubota museum. We took advantage of onsens whenever we could. We watched the sun rise on Mt Fuji and visited Kiyomizu Temple in perfect light, before the crowds arrived. I took private time to visit the Hoshun-in bonsai garden at Daitoku-ji Temple in Kyoto and had the entire garden to myself for an hour. Our guide Eriko was extremely well-versed, adaptable and gracious. We learned so much about the Sengoku and Edo periods, as well as the Meiji restoration and even 20th/21st century Japan. For a first introduction to this fascinating and ancient part of the world this tour far exceeded my expectations. Supera found all the right touches and class without any wasted effort. I couldn’t recommend this tour higher - extremely well done from start to finish.

Wow! What an amazing tour. Zoe is just amazing. Was so fortunate to travel in such a friendly group at such an amazing time of year with the blossoms. Loved the balance of free time and activities, with time to relax on nights in the mountains. Feel like 12 days was perfect to feel like I saw the best bits of Japan
Excellent trip! Great activities but also time to explore independently! Shout out to Zoe for being a top group leader too :)

First tour guide for the first 8 days was great, second tour guide tried hard and seemed lovely as a person, but she was disorganized, oblivious of who was or wasn’t following her, was unaware of where she was going at times, and just didn’t seem like she knew how to do the job. I’m not the only one who felt that way. Your pre trip support was excellent and accommodating, but having taken a number of tours with other organizations, Rick steve’s in Europe, you charge a lot when offering very little. I will not recommend your tour group to anyone, and will most likely discourage others from taking one.
Genuinely fast paced very active tour with moderate quality hotels and well priced

A really well organised trip with very good guides in Japan. From the outset the communication from Indus was excellent. We loved the "Indus app" that gave us al the info we needed for our trip. We were fortunate that we had a small group of 12 people only so we had a wonderful one on one experience with each of our guides in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Osaka.

Our only gripe was the long bus trips involved at the beginning and end of each day. Kohei, our guide, was outstanding. He let us experience many aspects of Japanese culture, and he became as much a friend as a guide.
My husband and I went on the World Expiditions Back Roads of Japan Tour last year, and were extremely disappointed in the quality of guide provided. The guide had never done the tour, had never even been to half the places on the itinerary and was a complete loose cannon, on two occasions taking elicit drugs and drinking to the point of being unable to function. When the entire tour group sent complaints following the completion of the tour, World Expeditions were elusive and largely uncommunicative, and offered us all an insulting refund of about 12% of our tour cost. Needless to say, we will not be taking or recommending World Expeditions tours in the future.

Intertrips

  • Excellent - 27 reviews for Japan tours
Overall we were pleased with the trip. The hotel in Tokyo was quite far away from the city center but had wonderful insensitive available and a good breakfast. Our group was only 25 people so the bus was comfortable and we got around pretty quickly. Our Guide Sumi was excellent and helpful although there were a few problems understand. She made general recommendations for restaurant areas and it was fun to find and sample the food. The city tours were additional but by the end we felt comfortable taking trains and exploring on our own.
The service provided by Intertrips is very professional and considerable. It was an amazing experience. Enjoy this tour so much and I will definitely come back and recommend this tour to my friends and family.

The Dragon Trip

The Dragon Trip

  • Excellent - 313 reviews for Japan tours
The tour was fine, like with all group tours you do things you don't want to, you don't do things you want to do and you spend too much or not enough time in places. The accommodation was fine except for Kamakura which was not great. The guide Sora was fantastic made the trip a lot better. The reason for two stars (I would have given two and a half if I could) is that as a shy solo traveller I joined a group tour because I know I miss out on things by being shy. While I understand it is nothing to do with the dragons trip, I felt left out of the group ( Sora was great but we had a big group). Everyone else in the group broke up into smaller groups we we went to lunch or the tour ended for the day and I was left by myself. It was a bit lonely and depressing seeing everyone else having fun in the group chat and feeling left out. As a result I would not recommend a group tour to other shy solo travellers, it felt as I got half a holiday compared with the rest of the group. If you go with someone or you are an extrovert you will probably have a great time.
The Korea aspect of the tour was incredible, I would rate it 5 stars- CheongAn and Julian were amazing tour guides helping us all fall in love with the country. Japan felt very disorganised and fell flat.

We take personalization seriously. Not only do we really listen to you, our profound expertise and extensive connections mean your trip will be both completely unique and authentically special.

Beautiful accommodations.

A trip to Japan offers the chance to stay in stunning  boutique and luxury hotels and ryokans . We’ll make thoughtful recommendations based on our personal expertise and your taste and priorities.

Fun and insightful private tours and experiences.

When it comes to private guides and local experts, we have unusually high standards (see why in the  FAQ  below). Your trip will include unique private tours and experiences, curated around your interests — and as much free time as you’d like.

In-country transport and seamless logistics.

We meticulously arrange your in-country travels around your preferences and priorities. Getting around Japan is an absolute pleasure thanks to the comfort and efficiency of its various modes of transport, from impeccable  trains  and the  shinkansen  to courteous white-gloved drivers.

Selected meals.

Your trip includes meals at your accommodations — breakfast at hotels, plus amazing dinners and breakfasts at  ryokans — and any meals included as part of your guided culinary experiences , such as private izakaya  outings, intimate  sushi  dinners,  ramen  crawls,  whisky  tastings, and more.

Pre-departure information.

Essential advice as you prepare for your trip, including key tips on Japanese etiquette, packing, money, language, Wi-Fi, and more.

Extraordinary support.

We are here to answer any questions that may come up at every stage of the process , and provide thoughtful service to our travelers from start to finish.

boutique japan testimonials honeymoon becky and jay new york city

Becky & Jay, New York City

Boutique Japan planned our honeymoon in February 2016. Our overall experience with them was absolutely exceptional, I could not recommend them more. My husband and I love to travel but had never used a travel agent before (truth is we’ve always been skeptical). We found an article written by Boutique Japan on the best sushi… Read More

Pricing for a Trip with Boutique Japan

The pricing guidelines below are intended to help you estimate the cost of your trip.

However, please keep in mind that these are not fixed categories. For example, some travelers love small boutique hotels, others prefer top-end luxury properties — and many like a mix of both.

The main factors that determine the price of each trip include:

  • The number of travelers in your party
  • Your travel dates (pricing is higher during  peak seasons )
  • Your preferences and priorities (for example, a trip including suites at Japan’s top hotels and a full-time private guide will cost more than an itinerary featuring stylish boutique hotels and a mix of guiding and free time)

Boutique | US $1,000-$1,400 per person per day

A Boutique trip includes a thoughtful selection of boutique accommodations, a mix of unique private experiences and independent exploration, and transport throughout the country primarily via Japan’s fantastic rail system.

Luxury  | US $1,400-$1,800 per person per day

A Luxury trip includes a thoughtful selection of luxury accommodations, a mix of exclusive private experiences with local experts (along with as much free time as you would like), and transport throughout the country via Japan’s fantastic rail system and private vehicles where appropriate.

Premier  | US $1,800 per person per day and up

A Premier trip simply includes the best of the best, with boundless possibilities.

Special Notes

Please note that we specialize in trips of one week and longer.

The prices above are per person per day and based on double occupancy. We love working with solo travelers, but even though we do not charge a single supplement per se , some services do cost more (on a per-person basis) when not shared with other travelers.

In the course of planning your trip , we typically require a small itinerary design fee. This enables us to dedicate truly personalized attention to each of our travelers. The amount varies depending on factors including trip length and the nature of your request, and is fully applicable to the final cost of your trip.

Your personalized itinerary is offered as a completely bespoke package, and we don’t include itemized pricing. Some travelers don’t have a specific budget in mind, but if you have a preferred range or limit please just let us know and we’ll be happy to work with you.

For any questions, please don’t hesitate to  contact us !

We are just settling back after a truly wonderful trip during which every aspect was quite special. These are some of the most common questions we get from travelers. If you have any other questions, we’ll be happy to help so please  contact us .

Are these group tours?

No, at Boutique Japan we specialize in completely private itineraries, designed around you.

How does your service work?

We begin by listening and learning about your interests, priorities, and travel style. Then we provide expert input to make sure you’re aware of special places and experiences you may not have considered.

Next, we design a completely customized Japan trip just for you, taking your feedback into account along the way. Throughout the process, we make things as easy and enjoyable as possible for you. See more details in  Planning Your Trip with Boutique Japan .

Which areas of Japan do you offer?

We offer private itineraries throughout all of Japan. Our sample trips above are here to provide inspiration, and there are also many other  places in Japan we absolutely love .

When it comes to your itinerary, we’ll provide personalized suggestions in the course of planning your trip.

How do you choose your private guides and local experts?

We hear a lot from travelers who have had lackluster, unsatisfying tours in the past.

While some of our clients enjoy having a guide from start to finish, most commonly our travelers enjoy a mix of guided time along with free time for independent exploration and relaxation (in our experience, the optimal balance is quite different for everyone).

When it comes to private guides and local experts, we have unusually high standards (few things in travel are more disappointing than a mediocre guide), and through constant travel and exploration we’ve personally developed a network of wonderful guides and insightful experts throughout Japan. In Japan, even more so than most elsewhere, trust is established only over long periods of time. Our tours are based on valuable relationships carefully cultivated over many years, and we’re extremely fortunate to work with remarkable people around the country.

For us, it’s about far more than just having knowledge: we seek out the truly engaging individuals who are not only bright and knowledgeable, but also flexible and quick-thinking. Perhaps above all, they must be fun, interesting people you’ll actually want to spend your valuable time with.

Can we use points or miles to book our own hotels?

As points lovers ourselves, we completely understand wanting to use them. However, because accommodations form such an integral part of each trip we design, we arrange all accommodations as part of our service.

This helps us ensure a truly seamless experience for all our clients, from start to finish.

What about restaurant reservations?

For nearly all of our travelers, Japanese food is a high priority!

As part of your trip, we can include special culinary experiences such as private market tours with local experts, as well as intimate guided dining experiences at unique and wonderful restaurants throughout the country.

It’s important to note that we don’t make additional restaurant reservations as part of our service. However, like virtually all of our travelers we are very passionate about Japanese cuisine, and will go out of our way to ensure you have the information you need to make any reservations of interest as easily as possible.

To start, well before your trip we’ll provide you with a short list of remarkable restaurants to consider. These days, most high-end restaurants in Japan prefer to take reservations directly from hotel concierges (for a variety of cultural reasons, it’s less of a headache for the restaurants), and for convenience we can connect you directly with the concierge at your hotels. In some cases, we also recommend using a reputable reservation service such as TableAll .

As part of the booking process, we’ll also provide insight on when you should be starting to think about reservations and other essential details.

I want to visit Tokyo Disney and Universal Studios Japan.

These can be wonderful places, and are especially popular with families traveling to Japan , but in the interest of being upfront please note that we are far from theme park experts. Because of this, we can’t provide any special insight when it comes to visiting theme parks or obtaining tickets.

This being said, we do have many clients visit on their own, and we’re more than happy to build free time into your itinerary for you to self-arrange any theme park visits of interest.

Will booking through you save me money?

Some travel companies tout their access to discounts, but the main reason travelers book through us is to gain access to our profound Japan expertise and extensive network throughout the country.

Not only will we help you dream up a completely unique itinerary through our in-depth knowledge of Japan and extraordinarily personalized trip-planning process, we’ll also save you countless hours expertly coordinating the nitty-gritty logistics of your trip.

Our service is ideal for travelers who appreciate expert assistance and meaningful, personalized experiences.

Who are your trips for?

Our  travelers are based around the world, in the Americas, Australia, and beyond. The majority of our travelers are couples,  families , small groups of friends, and solo travelers.

Why should I travel with Boutique Japan?

We are accredited Japan Travel Specialists, and maintain active memberships with respected organizations including  IATAN  and  ATTA .

Perhaps more interestingly, unlike most travel companies we intentionally work with fewer travelers. This lets us take an extraordinarily personalized approach when it comes to your trip. Along with our expertise and creativity, our low-volume approach is one reason  Condé Nast Traveler  magazine considers Boutique Japan founder  Andres Zuleta  a  Top Travel Specialist  for Japan:

“Zuleta’s Boutique Japan is a small company that eschews volume and spends more time customizing each trip to offer travelers a fresh, creative approach to Japan – something that discerning travelers seek out after learning of Zuleta’s deep immersion into the Japanese language and culture from years of living in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.”

If you’re as obsessed with the details as we are, chances are we’ll be a good fit — see what our travelers say  here  and on  Google Reviews .
