One of the Best Points Programs for Families Will Surprise You - It's Choice. Here's Why.

Bluegreen Vacations_via Bluegreen Vacations

Update : Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here .

Family travel is worth it, but there are many challenges that come along with it that you might not have thought about pre-kids. For starters, most hotel rooms just aren't built for more than four guests. Even then, it can be a stretch. If you have a larger family, or are one that likes to spread out, you are often forced to book two rooms or pay more for a larger room or suite. This can get quite expensive, even if you have points. (Here are two-bedroom suites families can book with points or learn how to book hotels for large families in Hawaii, California and Florida .)

bluegreen vacations cruises

Some hotel brands are better matches for families than others, but there is one hotel loyalty program that makes family travel not only more affordable, but much more comfortable. Believe it or not, my recommendation isn't a Hyatt or St. Regis or whatnot. It's the Choice Hotels and the Choice Privileges program.

Why Choice Is a Great Program for Families

While Choice isn't known for having the most aspirational properties, it does have more than 7,000 properties and allows you to book larger rooms for reasonable numbers of points. In fact, in cities like Rome and Paris , Choice redemptions are often your best bet if you want to just spend a reasonable number of points on a room large enough for a family.

But beyond that, there's also a vacation club component to Choice called Bluegreen Vacations , part of its Ascend Collection (Choice's higher-end properties). It consists of 36 properties throughout the United States and one property in Aruba — all with rooms you can book using Choice Privileges points.

What is so wonderful about vacation clubs like those with Bluegreen Vacations is that typically the properties offer way more than just your usual studio hotel room. Bluegreen Vacation properties include hotels with up to three-bedroom suites, and many have a full kitchen and washer/dryer. I know my family would much prefer to spread out in a suite versus a standard hotel room any day of the week -- especially when we can use our points.

What's so unique about the Choice Privileges program is that the number of points required for a particular property is fixed regardless of room size. This means the same number of points will book you into a standard room or that three-bedroom suite, when available This can allow your family to book an extremely comfortable room for no upcharge when using points. Most Bluegreen Vacations resorts range between 16,000 to 30,000 points per night, depending on the season.

Book a 3-Bedroom Suite for 30k Points

Let's say your family wants to head to the waterpark capital of America in Wisconsin Dells . You can stay at the Bluegreen Vacations Christmas Mountain Village in a three-bedroom suite for just 30,000 points a night. (Here's a roundup of the Midwest's best waterparks. )

bluegreen vacations cruises

Or, if you want visit Mickey Mouse or Harry Potter this summer, the Bluegreen Vacations Fountains in Orlando can actually fit 10 guests, which is ideal for a large family. Again, you'll pay the same 30,000 points a night as you would for any of its other available rooms. Why book a two-bedroom suite, if a three-bedroom suite is available for the exact same number of points?

bluegreen vacations cruises

A visit to Cape Cod is also a family favorite over the summer and there are two Bluegreen Vacations properties available. Both The Soundings and The Breakers cost the same 30,000 points a night and are our top picks out of all the hotel point options in Cape Cod . Here you can book a two-bedroom suite with a queen bed in each room and a pull-out sofa.

How to Earn Choice Privileges Points

Earning Choice Privileges points is fairly easy. Aside from actually staying at its properties, there are a few more opportunities to increase your account balance:

Choice Privileges Credit Card

The Choice Privileges Visa Credit Card is currently offering 50,000 bonus points if you spend $1,000 in 90 days. This no annual fee card will earn you 15x Choice Privileges properties, 5x on purchases of Choice Privileges points or Choice Hotel gift cards and 2x on other purchases.

Transfer American Express Membership Rewards

Choice is a 1:1 transfer partner to American Express Membership Rewards and cards such as the American Express® Gold Card with instant transfers. This is an easy way to top up Choice Privileges points for an immediate redemption, but of course do the math to make sure it's a good use of your Membership Rewards points -- and that won't always be the case.

Purchasing Points Promotions

It is very common to see a promotion on purchasing Choice points . The typical offer is a 30% discount, which means you are purchasing points at 0.77 cents per point, although we've seen as high as a 50% discount in the past (0.73 cents per point). With the 120,000 purchasing point limit, these promotions allow you to stay at some of the Bluegreen Vacations hotels at a potentially reduced rate — 30,000 points will cost you $231 with a 30% discount offer.

If you are planning to stay at one of the properties during an off-peak time, the award cost will be significantly reduced. For example, the Bluegreen Vacations South Mountain Resort was just 16,000 points per night last winter. Funny enough, off-peak doesn't always correlate to a not-desirable time to stay at a property. The South Mountain Resort is just a half-mile from a large New Hampshire ski mountain but during peak winter season it was still considered "off-peak." To purchase these points would cost just $123 per night with a 30% discount offer. I don't know of too many higher-end resorts where you'd be able to book a two- or three-bedroom room for that low a price.

An even cheaper way to purchase Choice Privileges points is during the annual Daily Getaways sales, when these points sell for as low as 0.48 cents per point, which is an unbelievable rate. (Unfortunately, these packages are now sold out, but fingers crossed we will see them again next year.)

bluegreen vacations cruises

Transfer Amtrak Guest Rewards Points

The Amtrak Guest Rewards program has very few transfer partners, but Choice Privileges is one of them. With this partnership, every 5,000 Amtrak Guest Rewards points transferred equals 15,000 Choice Privileges points. This is actually a great transfer ratio, but unfortunately you must have Amtrak status to transfer to partners.

Using Choice Points Isn't Perfect

While all of the above probably sounds beyond ideal, there are definitely some issues when using your Choice Privilege points at these properties. For starters, since these are vacation clubs, availability can be limited. Members who own at these resorts book close to a year out, which means peak dates might be hard to find -- although by no means impossible.

The other main issue is that, when redeeming Choice Privilege points, you can only book 100 days in advance. This is just not for Bluegreen Vacations resorts, but for all Choice properties. This is a huge deal-breaker for families who like to plan ahead of time, especially since there is no guarantee of the hotels' availability.

Lastly, Choice Hotels offers both peak and off-peak awards. If you are looking to stay over the winter, you will be in the dark about how many points you'll need per night at the moment since the award booking calendar doesn't go that far. (The number of points might also change from one year to the next as there is no award chart.)

Bottom Line

Bluegreen Vacations within the Choice family is the perfect fit for many families' needs. It offers quality family-friendly properties while allowing you to stay in comfort and not have to dig too deep into your point balances. Whether you have a large family, or are one that prefers more space, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with what's available.

Not worth it no matter the price

Although my guest and I's time were not valued when we attended the preview, there were a lot of elements that came together to make us never want to consider Bluegreen Vacations as well. When we arrived at the resort, we were told to go to the second location for our hotel stay and signed up for our preview to be on that Sunday at 9AM. We were not given a ride to the hotel and instead had to pay for an Uber. This would have been a wonderful opportunity for Bluegreen to have treated us with more value. Anyhow, we were placed in the Tropicana in Las Vegas, which was severely lacking. While we were at the hotel, we found out it was to be demolished in, at that time, in three weeks, and it seemed like the lack of available staff to provide standard housekeeping and the severely dated hotel environment supported that statement. It makes it feel like my guest and I were purposely put up in horrible accommodations and that any vacation booked would have us deal with similar hotel rooms. When booking my preview, we were ensured that the presentation would only be for 90 minutes. The day of the presentation, why was it that we were trapped there for 6.5 hours? It took a large chunk of our vacation day and we were famished the whole time thinking we would have had time to eat at one of the wonderful restaurants in Las Vegas for brunch after the preview. Although our sales representative offered to buy us pizza, we kept on stating we were about to be finished with the preview shortly, correct, so why would we eat Papa John's? Also, I have a problem with whoever typecast my guest and I into thinking our sales representative was a good fit for us. His was a bit unkempt and used a vernacular belonging to a lower income class with minimum education. He kept insinuating, it would seem at least, that because my guest and I were black, we did not travel. He told rhetorical metaphors implying I would go to jail, acted surprised when I told him we have both already traveled outside the country, and implied we were in a "broke person mindset" for even staying in the Tropicana when we complained about the accommodations. He specifically stated that when rich people don't like a place, they leave, and we didn't do that. That seems ridiculous because we didn't make the accommodations to begin with. Although I have plenty more to say about the preview, including how we were fed a bunch of false information in order for them to just get the deposit, only for every thing we were promised being rectified when we talked to the quality assurance agent, I feel like it would be a novel if I tried to say it all in this email. I would never recommend the Bluegreen Vacations package to anybody and have actively warned all my friends and family against it.

Disappointing and Felt cheated

Bluegreen vacations is fraud. i was sold the package stating that Chicago is an option because I wanted to visit there. after few months when I thought of travelling they removed that options. so I requested to refund my money so that they started giving me excuses for not refunding the money and forcing me to chose some other destination. highly disappointing and felt cheated. Total waste of money and time.

Better hope you're a high-tier buyer or owner. 1st , Wanted to put us in a motel 8 for our buyer orientation. Not the 1st one as potential buyers. The one after you buy where they train you. Had to push for something nicer. They finally did for a fee of course. When we came for owner orientation both the trainer and the sales person. Were super friendly,we were supposed to see a cabin once orientation was finished with our trainer. as soon as they decided we weren't purchasing more points, we were treated entirely differently. I had asked the sales person one last question about a depost so we could decide yes or no to add more points and i guess the answer was no and thats when they must have decided we weren't buyers for us. She didn't even come back. She sent the trainer in to show us out. He was very short with us at that point. I'm sure people buying in at higher tiers have a better experience but not us at our teir.

This is a complete scam

This is a complete scam. I bought into the experience after visiting one of their resorts. What they showed me on my visit is far from the experience I have had since I bought in. You might as well forget being able to book a vacation when you want to. They never have availability and some of vacations your points wont work. There are too many conditions that were not made know to us when they sold it to us. I have tried multiple ways to sell my points, but it is very expensive to get out of the scam.

Complete ripoff engineered by skilled liars

Timeshares are a ripoff. We all know that. Listen to the others who have given their honest reviews before me and, run, don't walk to the nearest exit before listening to Bluegreen's sales pitch. We made a mistake in the first place by buying only at the entry level "VIP" (a complete joke). Perhaps we compounded it with another $23K investment, but it's the only way to get anything from Bluegreen. As for the people at Parkside, Williamsburg, Va. they are very skilled liars. Our salesman, an immigrant with a fabulous sob story, brought in his boss, the blonde kind motherly type, who promised to help us with the vacation we wanted. NEVER HAPPENED. The only hope with Bluegreen is that its acquisition by Hilton, whose price for point fees are much higher, is that we can unload it to another unsuspecting sucker.

A year ago bought into this & specifically said no loan & when we get home we would call with bank info to pay cash so when we returned home we decided to cancel within the 3 day period, mailed back everything they asked for. Started getting mail from the loan company & after many many phone calls to many many #'s we did get all our money credited to our credit card except this loan company had charged up $49 late fee & we never ever even had a loan #. Turns out they turned up over to collections. Now they laugh at me when I called. I'm not sure how these scam companies are not being shut down.

They refused to cancel my reservation and issue a refund as promised. They do absolutely EVERYTHING to keep you on the phone trying to sell you an alternative, keep your deposit. AVOID BLUEGREEN AT ALL COSTS. They put you on hold, shift to another person, tell you that you do not understand their process and then disconnect when you do not agree forcing you to start the entire process again. SCAM!!!!

Bluegreen has left me deeply disappointed and regretful. I fell victim to their smooth-talking salespeople who promised me the world and convinced me to pay $47,000 for something I have never been able to use. They took advantage of my age and my trusting nature, preying on my desire to create cherished memories for my family, specifically my nieces and nephews since I never had children.

We went to the Wilderness Club at Big Cedar for a presentation & had a fantastic experience! The main presenter (Brandon) was a great speaker that anyone can relate to. He brought up a lot of great points why people should become owners & why they should choose Bluegreen Our guide was excellent as well! He was able to relate & was not pushy, mean, or annoying like a lot of these can be (IHG). He showed us all of the grounds (which were amazing) even though we had no interest in becoming owners. We are poor & don’t vacation much so this is the reason we had no interest in becoming owners. However, if our situation was different then Bluegreen would 100% be the company we choose to buy into.

Do not under ANY circumstances connect in any way with this company. We were lured in (stupid, I know) by a getaway weekend for $279 in Pigeon Forge. Listen to the sales pitch! NO vacation is worth what they will put you through. Charming sales people who will wear you down until you say yes or simply walk out. By the time you stay in a grungy carpeted room at a Quality Inn at 3756 Parkway in Pigeon Forge, you should get the idea that nothing good is coming your way. Don't be stupid; just don't book! So sorry we ever got involved with bluegreenvacations.com. Canceling contract per legal guidelines, they must follow the law!

Bluegreen Responsible Exit Program

I want everyone to know that Bluegreen has what they call a Responsible Exit program. Just call their regular number and ask to be transferred over to that department. If you have upcoming reservations tell them to transfer your reservations over to the house. Don't wait because if you do, the fee to exit will go up. Apparently this program has been around for 2 years but they are not trying to advertise it.

If I could give lower than 1 star I would. I have been an owner for several years now. HORRIBLE AND LIES. I bought because I live in Orlando, which is next to several resorts. I was told I can use their facilities anytime I am in the area. Well, I arrived to use their pool and they said I have to call 24 hours in advance, then in the summer they do not offer day passes. Now they only do day passes Monday -Thursday and not during the summer. Also, was told my maintenance fees will barely go up every year, but they have doubled for a facility I was told I can use, but they have changed their rules so many times that I am unable to use them. They are awful and WARNING YOU DO NOT BUY.

I booked a BlueGreen "vacation" in Savannah

I booked a "vacation" in Savannah, GA with BlueGreen at a Bass Pro / Cabela's almost two years ago. I paid for what is essentially a Time Share pitch. I cannot believe they let these scammers into their stores. When I contacted them to cancel the reservation, they decided they were going to 'fine' me an extra $125.00. Don't be fooled.

Stay Away!!!!!!

Stay Away!!!!!!! Old fashion scam, time sharing, promises, lies, trying to overcharge you. Not worth it single dollar or single minute. Regretting from the moment we got confirmation that we are staying in low quality hotel, the date that we choose 3 months in advance of course wasn't available. If you don't attend their "meeting" they will charge you "full" price, and that will be like you are staying in "Four Seasons". One word - Disaster!!! When you hear Bluegreen Vacations stay away!!!!

If you're looking to avoid a scam...

If you're looking to avoid a scam, do not engage with Bluegreen Vacations' salesperson in Bass Pro Shops. They will lure you into a too good to be true deal by offering gift cards from AMEX and Bass Pro Shop in exchange for attending a timeshare presentation in one of their hotels. Don't fall for it - they will charge you $200 upfront with no cancellation options. Even if you try to cancel due to health issues, they'll still charge you a $99 cancellation fee. The website has no cancel button for hotel bookings, and even their phone support is unhelpful and unavailable on weekends. We regret not reading reviews prior to our booking and advise others to do the same. It's unfortunate that Bass Pro Shop is associated with business that harass people and has such deceitful practices.

Sights of Elektrostal: the history of the city, what to see, photos and reviews

2024 Author : Harold Hamphrey | [email protected] . Last modified: 2023-12-17 10:06

Elektrostal is a fairly large industrial city, which is located near the Vokhonka River and almost 40-50 km from the eastern part of Moscow. There are a lot of powerful factories here, where many residents of Elektrostal work. They are perfectly combined with the most beautiful green boulevards, streets and parks, bright lawns and flower beds that adorn almost the entire town. It is picturesque due to amazing reservoirs and forests. It is worth learning more about the main attractions of Elektrostal, photos of which are in the article.

sights g elektrostal

The city was founded in 1916 thanks to the construction of a metallurgical plant. Previously, this place was the natural boundary of Calm. To start construction, the labor of local peasants was used. In the middle of 1925 herebuilt the first railway line that connected Elektrostal with Moscow. After the onset of 1938, the village turned into a separate city.

It is noteworthy that during the Great Patriotic War, the Electrostal plants produced ammunition that was needed for victory. In particular, it is worth noting the production of the legendary Katyushas.

A new stage for the factories of the city began after the invention of atomic weapons. The local plant was on the list of the main production facilities of the nuclear industry. This led to the fact that in 1954 the production of fuel was launched, which was used for the operation of nuclear power plants.

In 1963, the cultural center "October" was built, and this was done by the masters of the Novo-Kramatorsky plant, named after Stalin. It featured a spacious auditorium that could seat more than 850 people, as well as a unique revolving stage for actors to change scenery in seconds.

At different times, eminent creative groups performed in this cultural center, as well as the Beryozka ensemble, famous at that time. It is noteworthy that even in our time the cultural center is actively functioning, and the square in front of it is considered the most beautiful place in Elektrostal with fountains operating in the summer. In mid-2013, it received the status of a city of labor and military glory.

There are many numerous monuments in the city that tell about the history of this amazing place: a monument to Nikolai Vtorov -the founder of the famous plant "Elektrostal" near the House of Culture, a monument to Tevosyan - the chief engineer, monuments to M. Gorky and K. Marx, a sculpture "Steelworker", a monument to Korneev - Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as a memorial and a monument to soldiers who died in Afghanistan and on North Caucasus.

This is a fairly large and old factory in the city that specializes in the production of fuel for local gas stations. The plant is part of the structure of the company FC "TVEL" of the state corporation "Rosatom". The General Director of the enterprise is O. L. Sedelnikov.

This plant produces nuclear fuel, which is used by many nuclear power plants, transport power plants and research reactors, not only in Russia, but also in other European countries. The company has quality certificates OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001.

The museum of the plant presents its history, shows old photographs of the streets of the city, there are achievements of workers, as well as photos of significant people, there are many of the most interesting models produced at the machine-building plant. It also stores presentations showing the principles of the enterprise.

This temple - a landmark of Elektrostal - is a single-dome centric church, which is made in the style of Byzantine times. It was erected in the 20th century, in the immediate vicinity of St. Andrew's Church. The temple was designed by T. V. Trubnikov and V. A. Drozdov, according to the developments of which the iconostasis and interior were exactly designed.

The church plays the role of a baptismal church and belongs to the Moscow diocese. The main shrines of the church are the most ancient and valuable icons of Nikandor Gorodnoyezersky and the Great Martyr Panteleimon. In addition, particles of the relics of saints are kept here. Divine services are held in the temple only during religious holidays.

the main attractions of the electric steel

The local park - a landmark of Elektrostal is an ideal place where everyone can stay alone with nature, ride numerous attractions, and also spend time playing slot machines. The park is especially popular in the summer - it is full of families, youth companies and couples in love.

Especially for the summer in 2013, the park was re-planned, which made it possible to accommodate more modern entertainment and interesting playgrounds for young visitors. Swimmers will love the dragon and swans, and trampolines have been installed for more active children.

It is noteworthy that the prices in the local park are quite affordable: the cost of a ticket for various attractions ranges from 30-100 rubles. Today it is called "Wonder Park", and it is divided into a quieter "Quiet Alley" and "Entertainment Alley", where there is an inexpensive cafe, a summer stage, and also quite a lot ofattractions.

sights of electrostal

This cinema is very popular, so it can be called a landmark of Elektrostal. It is located in the shopping center "Elgrad" and consists of 5 spacious halls that can accommodate more than 800 people. To show 2D and 3D films, only modern equipment is used: Dolby Digital Surround EX and MasterImage acoustics, as well as huge screens with a special coating. In all cinema halls, very comfortable conditions for visitors were created: climate control and soft chairs.

In the foyer of the Cinema Gallery there is a play area, a fairly spacious cafe, fast food establishments (Suneki, Tashir-pizza, Rostiks, Kebab-tun, etc.) and popcorn- bar. This is an attractive local leisure center, where the residents of Elektrostal are shown all the latest cinema.

This is a whole complex where you can spend your free time pleasantly and profitably. In addition to the playgrounds, which are fully equipped for playing laser tag and paintball, guests are invited to visit a local cafe where delicious home-cooked dishes are prepared, a banquet menu, karaoke, as well as a relaxing sauna with a warm font.

What do tourists who have visited the city say? It is not tourist, but industrial. Attractions are quite specific, but overall interesting. Tourists were pleased with low prices.

Looking at the photo of the sights of the city of Elektrostal, you may want to go there and spendunforgettable weekend.
