Itinerary Halong Bay – Ninh Binh Tour 4 Days from Hanoi

Day 1: arrive in hanoi, half day city tour, day 2: hanoi – cruising in halong bay, day 3: halong – hanoi, day 4: hanoi – ninh binh – hanoi – departure.

Upon your arrival at Noi Bai airport, our tour guide will be waiting for you at the entrance of security area hanging a board with your name on. Get on your private car to center of Hanoi. Arrive at your hotel and relax. Please note that checking in time is 2.00pm. – Afternoon, we start the tour with a visit to the Temple of Literature, the first University of Vietnam, and the Vietnam woman museum or Fine Arts Museum. – Enjoy a cyclo tour around Hanoi Old Quarter which is considered the central and the soul of the city. – End the tour with a show of Water Puppetry, a unique stage art created by the Vietnamese peasants. Ninh Binh is just 2 hours’ drive south of Hanoi yet feels a world away from the busy capital. This is an area famous for its dramatic landscapes – rice paddies and waterways between limestone peaks.

– This morning you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the beautiful area of Ninh Binh often described as Halong Bay on land.

– In Ninh Binh you will visit the ancient capital of Hoa Lu where you will visit Dinh and Le temples. This scenic temple is dedicated to founder of the once-impressive citadel it sits within called Ding Tien Hoang. The small 17th century gardens are beautifully shaded, a delightful respite from the heat of the day, and feel very authentic. All around are the limestone karsts, and a similar temple is just down the road.

– After lunch, you also take a paddle boat ride through the beautiful karts limestone fringed waterways of Tam Coc, means 3 caves. On the boat you will venture through water caves, seeing alive activities of local on the banks of river, goats eating grass on lime-stone mountain… This trip allows for amazing photographic opportunities in a unique Vietnam landscape, a world away from Vietnam’s frantic cities.

Drive back to Hanoi at about 5.30pm.

Our guide, Sy, picked us at the hotel, took us down the highway (including stopping for some great local coffee), stopping to let us take pictures and to provide great chunks of history and details about the culture. Had a lovely lunch break at Lang Co Beach (can't remember the name of the restaurant, but food and views were great). The Hai Van Pass was incredible, with a stop at the top to enjoy the ridiculous views and have another excellent coffee, before heading down through Da Nang to explore the Marble Mountain, then finally to Hoi An. I have taken the train between Hue and Da Nang before and this is a hilarious amount better. An absolute treat. And that was with the weather not being particularly great! Sy collected us at our hotel in Hoi An and we got 2 army jeeps between 4 people. They also transported our bags on the jeeps. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip which had plenty stops for sight seeing and some local shops/restaurants. Places we went to along the way included Marble Mountain, Long Co beach and the Elephant pass. Sy explained the history and geography of the area and Dat helped us take some photos along the way! They dropped us right at the door of our hostel in Hue. Jack was helpful and responsive when I booked, and he even helped me quickly secure a visa when I had an unexpected issue. Our guide, Mr. Lee, is an incredibly special man. His love for his country and the people taught me so much about Vietnam’s culture and history. We came right as the rice harvest started! On this trip North, we saw how the Tay, Hmong, Lo Lo Chai lived and farmed and had beautiful hikes. We had an unforgettable dinner and stay with a welcoming family at a Tay home stay on our last night at Ba Be Lake. My favorite part was getting to stay in the smaller towns or cities up north - I loved Dong Van and Cao Bang - and eating dragon fruit on the side of the road!! I am a planner and this trip was ORGANIZED and well run!! Finally, the trip wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing driver Mr. Duc! He had such a sparkle and a great sense of humor - and he got us through some long drives safe and sound. We met his family on the drive into Ha Giang, and they gave us the best papayas I’ll ever have straight from their yard. Day 1: Hanoi - Ninh Binh - Hoa Lu - Tam Coc - Mua Cave ( Lunch) 7h30 – 8h00 : Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter. We take you to Ninh Binh province which is far from Hanoi city about 120 km. 9h30 : Have a short break for 20 minutes to relax 10h30: The first destination in this trip is visit Hoa Lu ancient capital. This is the first capital of Vietnam. Come to visit Hoa Lu, you will learn about why the capital was moved to Hanoi nowadays. You are impressed on an outstanding architecture when entering temples of King Dinh and King Le, the first and second emperors of ancient Vietnam, built in the 17 century. Try to feel ancient atmospheres in Hoa Lu ancient capital. 11h45: Have buffet lunch in the restaurant with a lot of local foods goat meat, fried rice… Vegetarian food is always available in the buffet lunch. 13h00: Visit Tam Coc by 1,5 hour bamboo boat. During the boat trip, you will be surprised by the charming beauty here with paddy field, river, water, cloud, sky and stunning cave system. All make a masterpiece which Vietnamese people called “ Halong Bay on land “ 14h30: Continue the tour with 45 minutes for cycling around the village to discover the life of local people. 15h30 : Get on the bus to go to Mua Cave ( Dancing Cave ). Walk up almost 500 steps, you can reach to the top of Lying Dragon Moutain, have an amazing panoramic view of Tam Coc from here. 16h30 – 17h00 : Transfer back to Hanoi 19:00: Drop off at Hanoi Old Quarter

Day 2: Hanoi - Halong Bay Full Day - Sung Sot Cave - Titop Island - Luon Cave - Kayking, Swimming, Trekking - Hanoi (Lunch) 8:10 - 8:50 AM: The shuttle bus will pick-up at Hanoi Old Quarter and transfer to Halong Bay. 11h45-12h00 : Arrival Tuan Chau island. Welcome aboard and have Vietnamese traditional Lunch with seafood while cruising though the amazing rocks and beautiful Halong Bay landscapes. 13h30: Explore Sung Sot- Surprising grotto, the longest, biggest cave the most beautiful grotto of Ha Long bay, about an hour to visit the cave and back to cruise to continue with another destination visit the Luon Cave 14h45: Discover Luon Cave(water cave), for visit the Luon Cave with 2 mains options, by kayaking or bamboo boat. With beautiful view here by kayaking and you have a chance to see Monkeys there. 15h45: Visit Titop island, one of beautiful island in Halong bay with natural beach for swimming and also you can trekking Titop peak for taking photos with panoramic view of the bay. 16h30: Enjoy Sunset party on Boat with Red wine, French fried, cakes, Fruits 17h45-18h00: Back to Ha Long Harbour. DAY 1: HANOI ARRIVAL

Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, you will be warmly welcomed by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in and rest. Overnight in Hanoi.

DAY 2: HANOI CITY TOUR & SHOPPING

Pick up and transfer for visit to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, an important place of pilgrimage for Vietnamese, Ho Chi Minh's House on Stilts, built in the style of Vietnam's ethnic minorities, surrounded by verdant and peaceful gardens, One Pillar Pagoda , built in the 11th century, of wood on a single stone pillar resembling a lotus blossom, symbol of purity, rising out of a sea of sorrow. After that, you will take a visit to the Old Quarters where you can experience the real daily life activities of local people in the oldest area of Hanoi for around one hour on the interesting electrical car with stopovers at Opera House is very famous site en route to take photos and enjoy the Old Quarters.

Transfer to shopping malls with international brands and high quality Vietnamese brands, some big shops with Made in Vietnam clothes where local people are regular; lacquer workshop (great traditional Vietnamese handicraft products). Back to hotel. Overnight in Hanoi.

DAY 3: HANOI – NINH BINH – HANOI – SAPA BY TRAIN

Pick up and transfer to Hoa Lu – the ancient citadel of 3km2 – to visit the temples dedicated to Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang of the Dinh dynasty (968-980), and Emperor Le Dai Hanh of the Le dynasty (980-1009).

Continue to have a boat ride in Trang An – an ecological tourist site where the rowing boat brings you through many amazingly nature blessed caves and rice fields. Back to Hanoi and transfer to Hanoi train station for the night train to Sa Pa. Overnight on train.

DAY 4: SAPA – FANSIPAN MOUNTAIN – SAPA

In the early morning, the guide and car will pick you up at Lao Cai train station then bring you to the hotel, where you have breakfast and a short break. After that, you will be transferred to the cable car station and start your trip in Sa Pa by heading up to the Fansipan mountain – top of Indochina. Get on the newly launched cable car – the longest non-stop three-rope cable car in the world. After a ride of twenty minutes, arrive at the stop to enjoy whole view of SaPa and immediately love the feeling of soaring through the clouds; leisurely enjoying the magnificent scenery and picturesque scenes of Muong Hoa Valley , Hoang Lien National Park alongside the striking peaks of the Hoang Lien Son Ranger. Climb up farther to the peak to get an even more breathtaking view. Enjoy your own time to breath in the fresh air and take the photos before heading back to town.

DAY 5: SAPA – LOCAL MARKET – HANOI BY TRAIN

In early morning, transfer to an ethnic market which only takes place once every week to explore and enjoy the beauty of nature and local ethnic minorities' people cultures. Witness how ethnic people enjoy their lives and dress up in their traditional costumes. Besides normal goods traded in any other market, each mountainous market has its own typical products for sale. You can easily find agricultural products, livestocks, traditional clothes and also typical food and special local alcohols.

These markets operate on different days of the week as following: Coc Ly market on Tuesdays, Cao Son/Sincheng market on Wednesdays, Lung Khau Nhin market on Thurdays, Can Cau market and Pha Long market on Saturdays, Bac Ha market on Sundays.

In the afternoon, transfer to Lao Cai train station for the night train back to Hanoi. Overnight on train.

DAY 6: HANOI – HA LONG

Pick up from train station for optional breakfast on own before transferring to Ha Long Bay to cruise amongst the bay’s spectacular scenery. After check-in and security briefings, set sail to enjoy lunch while cruising through fishing village and visit a beach area. The vessel will stop at an island; feel free to go swimming to cool down the summer heat. Enjoy a cooking demonstration with the chef as he prepares traditional Vietnamese food. Dinner is served on board. At night, you can ask the cruise to do squid fishing. Overnight on cruise.

DAY 7: HA LONG – HANOI

Greet the day with a morning Tai Chi exercise and an opportunity to view the sunrise over the bay. After breakfast, visit beautiful limestone grotto then back to the boat for a final glimpse of the Ha Long Bay while cruising back to the dock. Back to the wharf. Say goodbye Ha Long Bay and transfer back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.

DAY 8: HANOI DEPARTURE

Free on your own until check-out time. Transfer to airport to come back your home. Good bye Vietnam and hope to see you soon in the near future.

Day 1. HANOI – HALONG BAY CRUISE (L, D)

8:00-8.30 pick up at your hotel, depart for Halong bay . On the way to Halong city enjoy the journey through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and everyday Vietnamese village life.

11.45 Arrive in Tuan Chau marina port, aboard a traditional junk, lunch is served while the boat cruises Halong bay to enjoy the beautiful limestone seascape with Fighting cock, Dog Rock and Incense Burner islets. After visiting Amazing cave we stop at a floating house and go kayaking to Luon cave to enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the bay.

Day 2. HALONG – NINH BINH (B, L, D)

Sunrise breakfast and cruise around the clear & emerald water to another part of Halong bay with a close-up view of stunning limestone peaks, keeping on another side toward Halong harbor. Enjoy the lunch (or brunch) on board and enjoy the rest of the boat trip. Disembark at Halong dock, have short break before driving to Ninh Binh (3.5 hours).

Check in your hotel in Ninh Binh.

Hop on a bike and cycle to Mua cave (Hang Mua) with stunning countryside with rice fields, buffalo, goats… along the road (4km biking to Mua cave). You start walking up to the top of the mountain for a panoramic view of Tam Coc area and the stunning countryside surrounding. Descending and visit Hang Mua and a fairy stream for relaxing.

Optional : You can also opt for this evening cooking class with a local family and enjoy your own dinner (what-you-have-cooked)

Day 3. NINH BINH – HANOI (B, L)

Enjoy a peaceful morning and have breakfast at hotel. Start the day with a work-out to ride a bike to Tam Coc and board a small sampan to visit Tam Coc which means literally “Three Caves”. With Halong bay type views of majestic limestone cliffs and mysterious yet inviting caves, as well as countryside landscape like peaceful streams, rice paddies and deserted green fields.. You will feel the fresh air and peaceful moments, a very good opportunities for photo lovers, freezing the special moments and scenery.

Check out your hotel and have lunch at a nice restaurant with many local delicacies.

Continue our trip and pay a visit to Hoa Lu – the ancient Royal Capital of Vietnam, visit the two temples: Temple of King Dinh and King Le, admire the unique architecture from ancient times, learn about history and culture of ancient Vietnamese.

NGÀY 03: HÀ NỘI - VỊNH HẠ LONG - CHÈO THUYỀN KAYAK (Ăn sáng, trưa, tối)

Sáng: Xe đón quý khách tại khách sạn, sau đó khởi hành đi Hạ Long . Đến cảng tàu Hạ Long , Đoàn tập trung tại nhà chờ theo sự hướng dẫn của hướng dẫn viên đợi mua vé và phát vé cho Quý khách để lên tàu bắt đầu hành trình khám phá Vịnh. Tàu sẽ đi qua rất nhiều các hòn đảo lớn nhỏ với nhiều hình dáng khác nhau có những tên gọi đặc biệt như: Hòn Gà Chọi, hòn Chó Đá, hòn Đỉnh Hương, hòn Ngón Tay ...

Hòn Chó Đá: Tạo hình đá tự nhiên độc đáo.

Day 1: Hanoi city tour (L/D)

For the first day of Hanoi – Sapa – Ha Long – Ninh Binh 6 days 5 nights  you will follow the guide to take Hanoi city tour 1 day.

The tour guide picks you up at your hotel in Hanoi Old quarter.

Arrive at Tran Quoc pagoda – the oldest pagoda in Hanoi built in the 6th century.

Visit the Ho Chi Minh complex , you have a chance to see the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh then walk around the garden to see 2 houses where he lived & worked from 1954 to 1969.

Then visit One Pillar pagoda which worships the Goddess of Mercy – It is the most unique pagoda in the world.

Continue visiting the Temple of Literature – the first university of Vietnam, established in the 11 century.

Have lunch at the restaurant.

Go to Hoan Kiem lake to visit Ngoc Son temple , which honors General Tran Hung Dao who defeated the invader in the 13th century.

Come back to your hotel.

Evening: Have dinner at the restaurant. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi - Trang An - Bai Dinh - Hanoi (B/L/D)

Morning: Have breakfast at the restaurant. Our bus transfers you to Ninh Binh (110km).

In Ninh Binh, visit Bai Dinh pagoda which has the heaviest and highest spectacular Buddha statue in Vietnam. There is a set of bronze Tam The which is the biggest in Vietnam and several La Han statues.

Have lunch at the restaurant with special food.

Afternoon: Discover Trang An eco-tourism with a small boat.

Return to Hanoi.

Day 3: Hanoi - Sapa - Cat Cat (B/L/D)

Morning: Have breakfast, check out the hotel, and depart to Sapa. Arrive in Sapa, check-in at the hotel, and have lunch.

Afternoon: Start the trip on foot to explore the Cat Cat – Sin Chai village of ethnic Hmong – discovered by the French and choose a resort here in the early twentieth century. Coming to Cat Cat village, visitors pay a visit hydropower station, and waterfall of the Cat Cat village and learned about the culture, customs, and unique people here with traditional crafts such as weaving, touching carved silver, and forged agricultural tools, …

After that, have dinner at the restaurant and overnight in Sapa.

Day 4: Sapa - Ham Rong (B/L/D)

Morning: Have breakfast and visit Ham Rong mountain (Dragon Jaw mountain). On the way, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery or stop for taking photos.

You have a chance to see the orchid flower garden and get an overview of Sapa town. Enjoy traditional music and try the unique costume of the inhabitants. Have lunch at the restaurant.

Afternoon: Free time to go shopping and hang out. Come back to Hanoi.

Day 5: Hanoi - Halong (B/L/D)

Morning: Have breakfast at the hotel, check out the hotel, and depart for Ha Long bay 1 day tour from Hanoi.

07:30 – 08:30 AM : Our tour guide picks you up at your hotel in Hanoi Old quarter.

08:30 AM: Get on the bus and move to Ha Long bay.

10:00 AM : Arrive in Hai Duong province and have 20-minute short break.

12:00: Check-in at Tuan Chau harbor, Ha Long bay.

12:15: Welcome to the cruise and enjoy a welcome drink,  get a brief introduction about cruise and safety guidelines. Check in your cabin.

12:30: Have Vietnamese seafood and vegetarian lunch, while cruising in the magnificent Ha Long bay, admiring the fascinating rock formations in the bay.

02:30 PM : Next, arrive at Pearl farm village , kayaking through the village.

03:30 PM : Then, explore the bay.

Travel Visa:

Most countries in South East Asia require you to obtain a visa. Please check carefully with your travel specialist regarding specific visa requirements for each country you plan to visit as the legislation does change frequently. Thailand offers a free visa on arrival to most nationalities. Other countries including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar offer a “visa-on-arrival” service which requires you to pay a fee at the airport, or you may prefer to obtain this in advance through the relevant embassy or a visa agent. For visa-on-arrival in Vietnam, you must submit some paperwork before you arrive.

If you need our assistance with visa procedures for an option to get your visa for Vietnam instead of getting visa at the Vietnam consulate in your country. Please refer to the following steps:

Step 1: Provide us your application details

• Your full name (as exactly seen on your passport)
• Your gender
• Your date of birth
• Your nationality
• Your passport number
• Your passport expiration dates (with at least 3 vacats pagess and valid for at least 6 months)
• Date of arrival ( dd/mm/yy)
• Date of exit (dd/mm/yy)
• Arrival airport

Step 2: Process your visa information into a visa application

We will contact you for reviewing your visa information and then submit your application on your behalf to Vietnam Immigration department and follow other procedures pursuant to the regulations of Immigration department to get Visa approval letter granted by Immigration department.

We will send the visa approval letter via email to you after 07 working days.

After we obtain the visa approval letter from the Immigration department for you, we will forward you a scanned copy of it by email (Your visa information then has been recorded to the Visa system of the Vietnam Immigration department).

Step 3: Get your visa stamp on your arrival

Just print the approval letter out, prepare 2 passport sized photos and an amount of USD for stamping fee ($25 for single entry visa; $50 for 1 month multiple entry visa). Put all above mentioned things along with your passport in a package, and then show them to Immigration officer at Vietnam arrival airports.

Upon arrival at Vietnam’s airport, expect a simple form to fill in (or you can download form to fill beforehand), present the visa approval letter, passport, photos to the Immigration officer inside the counter and look for a place to hear your name be called to get the passport back and pay for the stamping fee.
