Mini Bus is used to describe the type of shuttle bus designed and built for various useful applications. Usually hosting passenger capacities anywhere between nine (9) and twenty-five (25), there are a multitude of seating configurations available for these type of mini shuttle buses. Some of the popular seating configurations include options for rear luggage compartments, handicap assisting wheel chair lift packages, interior luggage spacing. The seating can be configured in rows with a centered aisle or in a perimeter format for quicker passenger loading and unloading.

Mini Buses are shuttle buses that are manufactured in a two-stage process and are in the “cutaway” bus category. This means the bus body is built upon a truck or van platform or chassis. These chassis are provided to the bus body manufacturer with only a truck or van cab with upon which the bus body is built and placed. Produced by the first stage (van/truck) manufacturers, a cutaway chassis generally features a van or truck front end and cab design. The body ends immediately behind the driver and front passenger seats, and is usually covered by temporary plywood or heavy cardboard material for shipment to the various second stage manufacturers. This is how the name “cutaway chassis” moniker was coined, in recognition of this feature.

The minibus manufacturer is known as “body-builder,” and build such products as buses and other specialized vehicles. These completed vehicles meet the Federal Motor Vehicle safety Standards (FMVSS) in the US, are fully compliant with requirements for a complete motor vehicle. Neither portion can be licensed or operated lawfully without the other. Many cutaway chassis are equipped with dual rear wheels and can handle greater weight loads than the basic vans upon which they were based.

Depending on the type of use, location of operation and fuel availabilities, the cutaway chassis’ engines can be powered by Gasoline or Diesel fuel, Propane or Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Battery / Electric (EV).

Do you have the need to haul most of your extended family as well as your immediate family on long trips? Are you the type who owns eleven dogs who you just can’t leave behind when you go on vacation? Do you own a business that needs to transport customers? Or are you planning to live out your dream of converting a large or large-ish vehicle into a full-on mobile home?

Well, guess what, you’re in luck because for this article, we’re talking about the more notable minibus models available in the Philippines right now!

So, to guide prospective buyers, here’s a list of popular minibus models available here in the models. Included for each minibus model is a short overview, as well as their prices.

Also included in this list are minivans that already fit in the definition of what a minibus is. 

1. Toyota Coaster: Noticeably popular minibus in the Philippines

First off, from the most popular brand in the Philippines, is the noticeably popular Toyota Coaster . For the one we have here, it comes with a 4.2-liter, diesel drinking, inline-4 engine capable of producing 134 horsepower and 353 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear with a 5-speed manual.

Sized at a generous 6990 in length, 2035 in width, and 2600 in height, the Toyota Coaster can fit a whopping 29 people (or dogs, or around 40 cats, we’re not judging).

Also noteworthy is the Toyota Coaster’s ringed body frame which means that the vehicle’s floor, sides, and roof are securely interconnected. The Coaster also makes use of high-tensile plates that complies with Rollover global safety standards.

2. Mitsubishi Fuso Rosa: 24-seater minibus in the Philippines

While we included the Mitsubishi Rosa here in this list of Minibuses, it’s actually much closer to a full-fledged bus. The same is, of course, true of the Toyota Coaster. In terms of passenger capacity, the Mitsubishi Rosa can actually seat up to 24 people with its super long configuration, 30 with its long configuration, and 26 with its short configuration.

For engines, the Rosa makes a bit less at 134 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. The Rosa does have a back-up camera, a multimedia entertainment system, as well as automatic doors.

3. GAZ Vector Next: A Russian minibus in the Philippines

Imported by Gazelle Motors Corporation from Russia (with love), the GAZ Vector Next and the Next Citiline are minibusses that can be used for a multitude of roles, especially with the larger Citiline variant.

Both Vectors are equipped with the same engine, a 2.8-liter Cummins diesel capable of making up to 150 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque.

All in all, if these minibusses have done well on rough (sometimes) Russian roads, well there’s no doubt that they can do well here.

4. Hyundai County: Two-door minibus in the Philippines

Introduced as the replacement of the Chorus back in 1998, the Hyundai County is a capable, two-door minibus which has space enough for 30 people at the maximum. We say at the maximum because there are actually two body configurations for the County; a standard body measuring at 6,350 mm, and a long body version measuring at 7,085 mm.

Due to the County’s variety in size, the Country has a number of engine choices like the D4DD which can make up to 137 horsepower and 373 Nm of torque.

Like any modern vehicle, the Hyundai County comes equipped with an anti-lock braking system, disc brakes, a brake booster for more hydraulic brake pressure, and an exhaust brake as a deluxe option.

5. Isuzu NQR: A capable-looking minibus in the Philippines

Built on the very versatile Isuzu N-series chassis and cab, the Isuzu NQR minibus is a simple but very capable-looking minibus which can come in two different configurations; a 28-seater or a 35-seater. There are also equivalent versions that don’t have the air-conditioning system.

Powering the NQR is a 4-liter, turbo-intercooler, Blue-Power diesel engine which can make 103 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear with a five-speed manual. The said engine is compliant with up to Euro IV standards.

6. Foton Toano: 15-seater minibus in the Philippines

Designed by the same team who made the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the Foton Toano is high roofed, and very spacious 15-seater minibus equipped with an automatic electric step-board, LED side-mirrors signal lights, as well as a very wide vertical split rear door.

Under the hood, the Toano, like most Foton vehicles comes with a Cummins engine. With the Toano however, it’s the 2.8-liter CRDi Cummins turbo diesel which can make up to 160 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. The engine is then paired up with a 6-speed manual transmission.

With the Toano EX, passenger capacity is sacrificed for a comfier cabin. Instead of being able to seat 15, the Toano EX can only seat four but it does have captain seats, and better materials used for the interior. The Foton Toano 2.8-L MT starts at Php 1,988,000.

7. Hyundai H-350: A spacious minibus in the Philippines

Being capable of seating 14 people, the Hyundai H-350 is one big vehicle. Despite having that passenger capability though, it has a great amount of space for legs, heads, and elbows. And get this, even while full, it does have a bit more space for luggage.

Also, it’s a vehicle you can stand in, so if you’re thinking of converting it into, say…a mobile home, then half of the work is already cut out for you!

Under its hood, the Hyundai H-350 is powered by a 2.5-liter CRDi diesel engine which can produce up to 170 horsepower and 421 Nm of torque. This makes it more powerful even than the humungous Hyundai County.

For safety, the H-350 comes equipped with stability control ABS and a hill start assist.

8. Ford Transit: A diesel minibus in the Philippines

Last but not least is the Ford Transit which has been around since 1965 but has only reached us here in the Philippines just last year.

With the Philippine-spec version, the Ford Transit is powered by a 2.2-liter Duratorq inline-4 diesel engine which can make 133 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

Inside, the Ford Transit can comfortably seat up to fifteen people with room to spare for some pieces of luggage.

For safety, the Transit has dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and an Emergency Brake Warning, stability control, hill start assist and a tire pressure monitoring system.

9. Toyota Hiace: Favorite minibus in the Philippines

While a majority of sites have classified the Toyota Hiace as a passenger van, it can also be said, especially with its Commuter Deluxe version, that it has fully entered the realm of minibusses. That’s because the aforementioned version can fit in 15 people.

And of course, there’s no denying Toyota’s supremacy when it comes to reliability, availability of aftermarket and OEM parts, as well as the quality of service of their after-sales.

As with the Hiace itself, it is now in its sixth-generation and it has grown larger than ever before offering much in terms of space. This is especially true with the more premium variants, namely the GL Grandia Tourer which comes with captain seats.

Under the hood, the Toyota Hiace is powered a 2.8-liter inline-4 diesel engine capable of making 176 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. For the Commuter Deluxe, it provides more torque at 450 Nm in consideration for its larger passenger capacity.

Moscow transport: how does it work? Here we summarized all you need to know about Moscow city public transport (bus, metro, card Troika), but also taxi in Moscow.

Distances in Moscow: walking in Moscow

Walking. The geolocation of your accommodation in Moscow is important, because the distances are great. You’re definitely not going to be able to do it all on foot. Moscow is the largest city in Europe with more than 12 million intramural inhabitants. Besides, Moscow is made for giants, because everything is big: the avenues, the buildings, the metro stations! Public transport in Moscow: prices and how does it work?

Even if you are going to be able to visit many interesting places around Red Square (see the article: Moscow Red Square ), you will certainly take the metro to get around, but also to see the most beautiful stations . Furthermore, among public transport the metro remains the fastest solution in Moscow.

Good to know! Public transport is free for children under the age of 7. More specifically, 1 adult may not purchase a ticket for 1 child under the age of 7. If you are 2 adults, it is therefore for 2 children that the trips will be free.

Tips for Moscow city transport

Here are my tips to make travel more pleasant and optimized:

• Avoid to take Moscow City transport during rush hours. Especially for ground transportation (lots of traffic jams). You will lose a lot of time, especially for city center trips by land transport. Peak hours correspond to office hours: the standard working day begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m.
• Use a mobile application to estimate your journey time as accurately as possible. In Europe, as in Russia, we use CityMapper . It is a free application that allows you to calculate your trips and see all the possibilities to get from one place to another. For the application to work, you must have an Internet connection: either through your French package which can prove to be expensive; either by wifi, in your hotel, in a cafe (very common in Moscow) or by using the free Wi-Fi of the city of Moscow! To download CityMapper on your mobile, just type its name in AppStore or GooglePlay . Then choose the city where you want to use it.
• Buy a transportation card. If you plan to take public transport several times a day or if you come to Moscow for a university or work exchange, it is more economical to take a transport card. I talk about it later in the article.

Moscow metro: the fastest way to get around Moscow

Beautiful! The Moscow Metro is considered the most beautiful in the world! You can find out which stations are worth a visit in my article: The most beautiful stations in Moscow .

Metro timetables. Times vary by station, but approximately the Moscow Metro is open from 5.30 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Metro prices in Moscow

• A single trip = 57 rubles (from February 1, 2020)
• Price for transporting a suitcase in the metro = 60 rubles
• With a transport card , the price of the journey decreases. Example: with the Troika card the price per trip increases to 40 rubles. More details about troika card below.
• You can also pay with ApplePay or GooglePay.

Where to buy metro tickets?

• At the cash desks , where you can buy everything: transport card or one-way tickets. Small flat: most of the time, the employees of the metro do not speak English very well. But they are used to it, you will be able to understand each other.
• At the English terminals , where you can also buy everything. See below for more details on terminal purchases.

Bus, trolleybus, tram in Moscow

Avoid at peak hours. The city center can be literally blocked! Mobile applications are very useful to estimate travel times.

Tram. Trams are very nice to do. It’s a bit special. Tram stops are hard on the road. The cars then stop and let the pedestrians get on or off the tram.

Price of a bus, trolleybus or tram ticket

• One way = 57 rubles (from February 1, 2020)
• With a transport card , the price drops. Example: with the Troika card the price per trip increases to 40 rubles. More details about transport cards below.

Where to buy bus, trolleybus or tram tickets?

To drivers. There are no controllers on each bus, as in St. Petersburg.

By purchasing a transport card in advance at a metro station. There are few terminals installed near bus, tram or trolley stations.

Good to know! It is possible to pay on the metro, but also on buses with your smartphone or a contactless card (Apple Pay or Google Pay)! The price is 44 rubles per way. Beware, however, of bank charges, as for other ruble payments in Russia. See article: How to pay in Russia?

Transport cards in Moscow

Two most interesting solutions for taking Moscow City transport:

Troika card prices

• 1 metro, bus, trolley bus or tram journey: 40 rubles (instead of 57)
• 90 minutes in public transport (regardless of the number of changes): 62 rubles

How to buy a Troika card?

• Cost of purchase : 50 rubles. You can get it at all metro stations.
• Refill . Once the card is purchased, you must reload it. You can choose the amount freely.
• Where? It is possible to buy the card and recharge it at the metro cash desks or via automatic terminals, in cash or by bank card.

The Troika card is interesting if you:

• want to take advantage of lower transportation rates.
• stay in Moscow for a long time (language stays, expatriation, VIE, university exchange), but do not go for frequent daily trips.
• don’t stay long, but you know roughly how many trips you’re going to make or you don’t mind reloading the card often. Why? It is possible, but long and complicated to recover the initial amount of 50 rubles, as well as the rest on the card.

How much does the unlimited Yediny card (central Moscow area) cost?

• 1 day = 24 hours = 230 rubles
• 3 days = 438 rubles
• 30 days = 2170 rubles

How to buy a Yediny card?

It is possible to buy the card and recharge it at the metro cash desks or via automatic terminals, in cash or by bank card. The card is activated (the countdown starts) at the time of validation and not at the time of purchase. The card must be activated within 10 days of purchase (day of purchase included).

The Yediny card is interesting if you:

• stay in Moscow for a long time (language stays, expatriation, university exchange), but make frequent daily trips.
• do not stay in Moscow for a long time, but do not want to estimate your trips in advance (Troika card) while enjoying the unlimited.

Our experience with transport cards in Moscow

When I was working in Moscow, I used the Troika card. It was the most economical solution for me. We also used it later when we both went there. On the other hand, the last time we were there, we took the Yediny card and finally we found it more practical, even if it turned out to be less economical in the end.

Our verdict (compared to our travel habits): budget side, the Troika card is better. But for less headache (how much to put on the card? How much is left?…), The unlimited Yediny card is more practical.

Boat trips in Moscow

Getting around in Moscow by taxi

There are several types of taxis in Moscow:

• First, official taxis (sign on the roof);
• Then individuals who do this out of the blue;
• And finally Moscow taxis via mobile applications (private drivers or taxi agencies).

Good to know. The cost of a taxi ride to the city center in Moscow is around 500 rubles. If you want to avoid negotiations, use the taxi apps in Moscow.

Uber Moscow: NO.

It works before, but not anymore, because Uber does not use the classic app in Russia (they have created a special app for Russia, only this app works now). So, you have to download the special Uber Russia app… but this application is only available on the Russian AppStore, so it cannot be downloaded for us. Uber’s competitors in Russia such as YandexTaxi or Gett can be used.

Use the YandexTaxi app to take a taxi in Moscow

The Yandex company is the Russian Google. Initially a search engine, it also offers several services. YandexTaxi is then the taxi service in Moscow, it works everywhere in Russia. You can download the app from the AppStore or GooglePlay . Thanks to this application, it is possible to pay the taxi in cash (by default) or by bank card directly (to be specified in the application). If you are thinking of paying in cash, then have rather small denominations so that the driver can give you change. The application is now in French.

How does YandexTaxi work?

• First, it detects your geolocation.
• Then you indicate your arrival position using the Latin or Cyrillic alphabet.
• It then offers you the estimated prices for each range (thrifty, business, etc.).
• You choose, confirm and wait for the driver to arrive.
• You identify the driver with the indicated license plate, then at the end YandexTaxi collects the race via your bank card (do not forget to put your card info before using the app, otherwise pay in cash).

Public transport and taxi in Moscow: summary

Getting around Moscow is quite simple, as Moscow City transport is well developed. However, because of traffic jams, the metro is the quickest solution. It isn’t an issue, because the Moscow metro is very clean and beautiful. Taxis are rather cheap and easy to find thanks to mobile applications like, for example, YandexTaxi.

Guto Harri, the former Number 10 director of communications under Boris Johnson, has said it is a "realistic prospect" the Conservatives could move against Rishi Sunak if the results of the local elections are bad.

"I think that would be mad and unfair, but I think it's a realistic prospect now," he tells Sophy Ridge .

"It's clear that one or two mayoral contests could be read as the trigger. It could be that the overall number is so bad that that is the trigger."

'It can be very brutal'

Mr Harri says that, by Sunday, there could be conversations across Westminster on whether Tory MPs could move against Mr Sunak.

"It can happen very, very quickly, and it can be very brutal," noting the speed at which his old boss Mr Johnson was toppled.

Andrew Fisher, former head of policy for Jeremy Corbyn, says that, in contrast, Thursday could be a good night for Labour.

"It's clearly going to be a bad night for Rishi Sunak," he says.

We'll be back from 6am as polls prepare to open in local elections across the country, with mayoral and police commissioner votes also planned.

Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf has resigned – days after he cut the SNP's powersharing deal with the Scottish Greens.

It followed a bitter row over the SNP's climbdown on climate targets as he said the agreement between the parties had "served its purpose".

As a result, his former Green allies teamed up with the Conservatives, Labour and Liberal Democrats to get behind two no-confidence motions, one in himself as leader of Scotland and another regarding the entire Scottish government.

Now attention turns to another SNP leadership contest and what the divisions in Scottish politics could mean for the future of the independence campaign.  

On the Sky News Daily , Matt Barbet speaks to Paul Hutcheon, political editor of the Daily Record, and Shona Craven, from The National, about how the SNP can move on after Mr Yousaf's resignation.

Plus, Connor Gillies , our Scotland correspondent , explains how the leadership election will unfold.  

Sir Keir Starmer told Sky News today he doesn't "believe" in the government's Rwanda scheme.

He said Labour would ditch it, vowing not to "flog a dead horse".

His plan would be to "stop the gangs that are running this vile trade" of smuggling people across the Channel, working with law enforcement in Europe.

"And that's why I've already had discussions in The Hague (including with EU law enforcement agency Europol) about how quickly we can share data intelligence to do that," he said.

"I'm absolutely determined to tackle this problem because the government has lost control of the borders."

It's been three years since the 2,600 council seats up for grabs this week were in play - and Sir Keir Starmer couldn't be in more different place as he goes into polling day.

Back in 2021, facing an ascending Boris Johnson, Sir Keir lost the Hartlepool by-election, hundreds of councillors and a clutch of councils.

It was, Sir Keir tells me on his final election rally in the Essex town of Harlow - where Labour wants to take the council off the Tories this week and win the constituency back at the general election - a "low point", as he confirmed for the first time that he considered quitting as the results came in and the Johnson inflatable blimp flew high over Hartlepool.

"I did [consider quitting] because I didn't feel that I should be bigger than the party and that if I couldn't bring about the change, perhaps there should be a change," he said.

"But actually in the end I reflected on it, talked to very many people and doubled down and determined no it is the change in the Labour Party we need."

A trade union representing senior civil servants has submitted an application for a judicial review against the government's controversial plan to send migrants to Rwanda.

The FDA said its move related to the relationship of the Civil Service Code with the government's Safety of Rwanda Act.

The union said that under the act a minister could determine whether to comply with an order made by the European Court of Human Rights.

A direction to ignore such an order would breach international law, which conflicts with the duty of civil servants under the Civil Service Code to act in compliance with the law, which includes international law, said the FDA.

General secretary Dave Penman said it was not a decision the union had taken lightly, adding: "The government has had plenty of time to include an explicit provision in the act regarding breaking international law commitments which would have resolved this but it chose not to.

"Civil servants should never be left in a position where they are conflicted between the instructions of ministers and adhering to the Civil Service Code, yet that is exactly what the government has chosen to do.

"This is not an accident, or down to poor drafting. It's a political choice from the government, made not for the good of the country but to avoid upsetting either of the warring factions within its own party."

Mr Penman said the union had to protect the interests of its members and the integrity of the Civil Service Code.

A government spokesperson said: "The Home Office already sought advice from the director general of proprietary and ethics in the Cabinet Office on the issue of the Civil Service Code and claims over the legality of implementing the Rwanda deportation scheme under the new legislation."

The week has kicked off with a huge political story - the resignation of Humza Yousaf - and will end with another, as voters across England and Wales turn out for the local elections.

The Tory mayor of the West Midlands is sending voters an endorsement from Boris Johnson which urges people to "forget about the government", Sky News can reveal.

Andy Street's campaign website makes no mention of Rishi Sunak on its homepage and is coloured in green rather than Conservative blue, suggesting the mayor is trying to run on his credentials as an independent campaigner rather than under the unpopular Tory brand.

Other campaign literature - including the front page of a campaign "newspaper" seen by Sky News - makes no mention of the Conservative leader.

Now, YouGov has made its final calls for some key contests using the MRP polling method after interviewing almost 9,000 people over two weeks.

Here, exclusively on Sky News, are the headlines. 

We'll start with two key battlegrounds...

Calls for an investigation into a £200,000 donation to Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething have intensified in recent weeks.

A motion calling for an independent probe into the money was debated in the Senedd on Wednesday and defeated by 27 votes to 25.

But former deputy climate change minister Lee Waters said Mr Gething should do "the right thing" and return the donation.

Mr Gething was elected leader of Welsh Labour in March and succeeded Mark Drakeford as Wales's first minister.

Opposition parties launched a bid to appoint an independent advisor to check whether there was any conflict of interest over the donation during the leadership campaign.
