Umiam Lake: Umiam Lake, a mesmerizing man-made reservoir, also known as the Barapani Lake. The trek can be done from either side, but it is commonly attempted from the Mawphlang side since it makes it a less ascending trail. The trail is not well marked and one can take the help of locals for directions. Mountain Climbing at Diengei Peak: Situated on the western side of Shillong, is 6200 ft in altitude, this peak is just 200 ft shorter than the tallest peak in Shillong, Shillong Peak. For a height of about 1000 ft, the gradient of this peak is very steep and precipitous which makes for excellent mountain climbing. Other adventurous sports like rock climbing and rappelling can be done here. If you are an adventurist, visiting here should be on top of your list of things to do in Shillong. Angling at Dawki: A small border town in the Jaintia Hills, Dawki and its famed river Umngot is a must visit if in Meghalaya. Day 01: Arrive Guwahati- Shillong

This morning we will leave for the capital city of Meghalaya- Shillong, fondly known as the Scotland of the East. On the way to Shillong we will stop at the Umiam Lake, which is located just 15 km before to the capital city of Meghalaya. The crystal clear blue lake is about 220 sq km in radius and surrounded by the beautiful hillocks. The lake also represents the scenic beauty of the state which you will be going to explore here in next few days.

During summer period the Lake looked lush and vibrant adorned by Gulmohar trees (Delonix regia) in full blossom. The Lake commonly known as Barapani is the best place for picnics and outings. If you are travelling with kinds, then adjoining the Nehru Park will be perfect place for them to spend few thrilling hrs enjoying a motorboat rides and other activities.

Further continue drive to Shillong. Upon arrival check into the hotel in Shillong. Evening have a leisurely walk locally. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02: Shillong – Cherrapunjee (Cherrapunji)

After an early breakfast leave for Cherrapunjee which is barely 65 kms from Shillong. It is the wettest destination in the world and on your drive to Cherrapunjee, you will come across roaring waterfalls diving into unfathomable gorges. Upon arrival check into the hotel.

After fresh n-up visit the famous Nohsngithiang Falls, Nohkalikai fall, Mawsmai Cave. Later evening return to hotel for overnight stay.

Cherrapunjee, officially known as Sohra, is 56 kms from Shillong, and a "must see" destination for all tourists. It also known the wettest place in the earth with a record rainfall. Cherrapunjee was the headquarters of the Khasi & Jaintia province during British rule before shifting to Shillong in 1864 and this was due to the inconvenience caused by excessive rain during the monsoon months.

Day 03: Cherrapunjee

Today after an early breakfast we will go on a guided trek to visit the Double Decker living Routes Bridge, the most brilliant of all the living bridges found in the world. The trek from the resort will take about 05 hrs.

The scenery of the places is beyond description. Your will get amazed of walking over the roots which will quite scary at the start but once u start u will end it with great zeal. The picturesque forest all around, pleasant sound of water falls will provide you a different experience with the mesmerizing feeling. Here you will feel the warmth of Mother Nature being somewhere near to Nature Gods Home.

Later return back to resort and enjoy the peaceful evening to get ride from tiredness. Overnight stay hotel.

Day 04: Cherrapunjee – Mawlynnong – Shillong

Early morning we will visit the cleanest village (Mawlynnong ) in India which is nearly 80 kms from Cherrapunjee and just close to the scenic villages; there are interesting sights like the living roots bridge and a beautiful sight boulder balancing on another rock.

Later in the afternoon we will drive to Shillong. On arrival check-in at hotel. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 05: Shillong

After breakfast enjoy local sightseeing tour of Shillong, ‘Scotland of the East’. We will be visiting Cathedral Church, Lady Hydari Park, the Orchidarium, Elephant Falls 7 the Golf course. Thereafter, we will drive to the shilling peak to enjoy a splendid view of Shillong. Overnight stay at the hotel in Shillong.

Day 06: Shillong – Guwahati - Departure

Morning after breakfast drive to Guwahati. (If time allow we will enjoy a short tour of Guwahati visiting Kamakhya Devi temple and other places of worth). Further transfer to the airport / railway station for onward connection.

The gorgeous city offers amazing tourist spots. The city’s own Ward’s Lake is popular for short garden walks & boating. Lady Hydari Park is a Japanese style landscaped park endowed with streaches of roses & exquisite flowers. The Mini zoo adjacent to the park has about 73 birds, 140 reptiles & mammals. The State Museum is a display of the lifestyle and heritage of the people of Meghalaya. Elephant Falls is a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern covered rocks.

After breakfast, if any sightseeing left out in Shillong it can be completed. Then transfer to Guwahati. In Guwahati you can visit Shankardev Kalakhetra, State Museum, Maa Kamakhya Temple, Balaji Temple and Umananda Temple in the middle of the Brahmaputra. Later check in hotel. Overnight in Guwahati.

We booked a trip from we care holidays for mid march 2022 via travel triangle. They sent the quote along with other tour operators but the itinerary provided by them suited us best. Before zeroing down to final selection I had multiple chats with Ms. Alka chetri and she was always helpful and suggested positively. Based on her suggestion we changed our plans a bit and it was really worthy. Alka has been really helpful while booking the trip. on reaching the destination Mr. Keshav and Mr. Ajay were communicating well to help us out. All 3 drivers provided to us were great. Subba, Suran and specially Pema, all were very skilled and pleasant. Specially Pema got some really good driving skills. The hotels provided to us were good and satisfied our needs in general though we had a bit of issue for room no.110, udaan alpine village resot as there was no mobile nor any wifi reception, in that room. View was also a bit restricted from that room. Overall it was a lovely experience and we will recommend everyone to go for them.

Big thank you from all of us @ we care holidays for an enjoyable and memorable Gangtok-pelling- Darjeeling holiday.. Right from Alka who took care of all the necessary things in itenary, patiently explained the same and was open to suggestions and modifications in the travel plans, to all the drivers who safely took a group of 7 including kids and senior citizens. They were excellent guides , never rushed us at sites we were interested in spending time, they made the holidays thoroughly wonderful .. Special mention to Mr. Pema, Mr.Bhanu, we have already booked them for our next Sikkim visit! The hotels were good, staff courteous with neat and clean rooms and warm and healthy food especially at Gangtok-Blueberry Banquet and Spa, and more so at Pelling- Blueben Alpine. I would like to thank Mr. Nandan for his warm hospitality especially for taking care of my mum who fell ill for a couple of days at pelling, he went out of his way for her comfort and made sure the rest of us could proceed with the itenary. I could keep going on about all the good things in the eight days of holidays but wish to end saying it was worth every penny and second spent ! Thank you all for a truly wonderful experience

Travel was planned out very well. every one was very helpful, the cordinator sharmaji, the supervisor Abhijit sir, above all Travel planner, Radha start to finish was very helpful. She was always there to help and advice any time, morning to night. I have never met such an extraordinary guide. Hotels were planned out well, except Darjeeling, but the staff's at that hotel were very nice. Vehicles provided to us were very good and the drivers Bala Krishna, Pritam from sikkim were very knoweldegable of the place and kind, understanding. They made the journey memorable.

Airport Pickup, Guwahati to Shillong (100km/4hrs)

The beautiful Meghalaya tour will begin with us picking you up at the Guwahati Airport. Then we will straight head towards the enchanting hill station, Shillong. We will stop at the Umiam Lake in the route to enjoy the beauty of the beautiful lake, and then after reaching the destination we will stay for the night at Shillong. If we have enough time, we can go out on sightseeing of Shillong.

Shillong Sightseeing (80km/8hrs)

Next day, we will go for sightseeing of the whole city. Shillong, popularly known as the “Scotland of East” is famous for its beautiful weather and picturesque sceneries. The drizzling rains will give you the feeling of Scotland. It has beautiful lakes, mesmerizing waterfalls and breathtaking hill tops. The notable sightseeing places are Wards Lake, Elephant falls, Lady Hydari Park, Don Bosco museum etc. Our stay will be at Shillong.

Shillong to Mawlynnong & Dawki Sightseeing, Mawlynnong to Cherrapunji (245km/9hrs)

Next morning, we will start towards Mawlynnong – the cleanest village in Asia. Mawlynnong also has a living root bridge. After visiting Mawlynnong, we will go to Dawki – a border town in India – Bangladesh border. Dawki is famous for Umngot River and Dawki Bridge. There is also a facility for boating on the river. After all the sightseeing, we will go to Cherrapunji. We will stay there.

Cherrapunji Sightseeing (60km/7hrs)

The next day, we will start our sightseeing of Cherrapunji. Cherrapunji does not need any introduction, as we all know it is the wettest place on Earth. So, if you are here on summer, then get ready to witness nonstop showers in this beautiful place. Moreover, the places of sightseeing in Cherrapunji are amazing. It also has a living root bridge, Mawsmai caves, the Seven Sister waterfalls and the Nohkalikai waterfalls to check out. The night’s stay will be at Cherrapunji.

Cherrapunji to Guwahati, Airport Drop (190km/6hrs)

Next morning, we will head towards Guwahati for dropping you at the airport. After around 6 hours drive, if time permits us we can check out the local sightseeing places of Guwahati. The major attractions in the city are the mighty Brahmaputra River, the Kamakhya temple, the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra etc.

• Paradise Northeast does NOT have any HIDDEN CHARGES.
• If someone asks for extra money during the journey, Please inform us. We will not be responsible if you pay the amount without our knowledge and consent.

• In case of non availability of rooms in the mentioned hotels, this will be communicated to you and we will provide other options.
• In case you are not convinced with the new options, advance paid will be refunded to you after deducting a service charge of INR 1,000.
• Hotels for each category are selected as per the budget and through our feedback system.
• There is no star category hotel available in all places. However, we provide the best possible option as per your tour category.

• Credit Cards / Traveler's check are not freely accepted in many places.
• In this region, roof carriers are not allowed in the vehicles. So, it is advised to bring luggage accordingly.

• Woolen clothes, Jacket, Raincoat/Umbrella etc. are advisable to carry according to weather conditions.
