Jordan and Jerusalem Tour

8 days: tour of jordan and jerusalem, with petra, wadi rum and bethlehem.

This tour of Jordan and Jerusalem It allows you to discover the most important of the Arab country, adding a fascinating excursion to that holy city in the neighboring state of Israel. With this travel proposal, your roadmap will take you through Petra and Wadi Rum, the two great tourist attractions of Jordan, without forgetting other places of enormous interest such as Jerash, Madaba or Mount Nebo. In addition, during your stay in Jerusalem, there will be time to discover nearby Bethlehem, so full of symbolism for the entire Christian world. Choose this circuit through Jordan and Jerusalem to live an unforgettable trip, full of beauty and spirituality.

Jordan: Petra, Wadi Rum... and much more

The first five days of this tour through Jordan and Jerusalem They pass through Jordanian lands, concentrating in them the most important of this Arab country… which is no small thing. It starts in the capital Amman, which we will have time to describe with a guided tour, but also focuses on other world-famous destinations.

Of course, Petra. The one that was the capital of the Nabataean Empire and known as the ‘pink city’ hides numerous secrets and corners full of beauty, which we will explore during the whole day we spend in it.

But there is much more. From a historical point of view, it is worth noting Jerash, a Greco-Roman city that is often nicknamed ‘Pompeii of Jordan’. From a religious perspective, Mount Nebo and Madaba will thrill Christian travelers as well as Jews and Muslims.

And for lovers of the most unique nature, two unique destinations: on the one hand the desert of Wadi Rum, with very capricious rocky shapes; and on the other, the Dead Sea, considered the lowest point on the planet, at -400 meters above sea level.

A circuit to discover Jerusalem in depth

The last days of this tour through Jordan and Jerusalem take place in the latter city and its surroundings, as it is full of historical and fascinating places, both for pilgrims and religious tourists and for any traveler interested in culture in general.

The list of places to visit speaks for itself: the Mount of Olives where the Garden and the Basilica of Gethsemane are located, Mount Zion where the Tomb of King David is located, the Cenacle and the Abbey of the Dormition of the Virgin … And of course, the Old City in which are the most sacred spaces of the ‘three religions of the Book’: Judaism, Christianity and Islam, which here have their Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Dome of the Rock.

In addition, the excursion to Bethlehem will be an emotional trip to the place where the Child Jesus was born, epicenter of the Christian world at Christmas. Undoubtedly, an unforgettable experience that every person, religious or not, must live at some point in his life.

Day 4: Petra

Day 2: Amman - Ajloun - Jerash - Dead Sea - Amman

On the second day of this tour of Jordan and Jerusalem begin sightseeing, in this case in the form of an excursion: after breakfast at the hotel, we will go out on the road to visit the first of the three destinations of the day: Ajloun.

In Ajloun, the most outstanding monument is its castle, which we will visit to enjoy its panoramic views over the green hills of the nature reserve in which it is located. In addition, we will know its military architecture, as it is a good example of the network of fortresses that the troops of Saladin and the Mamluks raised to defend themselves from the crusaders of the kingdom of Jerusalem and the Mongols, in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, respectively.

From Ajloun we will move to the ‘Pompeii of Jordan’, that is, Jerash. It receives this name because it is an ancient Roman city that has been preserved in very good condition, despite its more than 2,000 years of history. Its Oval Square, its theaters, its temples, its Arch of Hadrian and its hippodrome are some of its most iconic places.

After visiting Jerash, we will return to Amman to have lunch and replenish energy, because in the afternoon we will travel to the Dead Sea: here you will have free time to discover why it is one of the most unique natural corners. On the one hand, it is the lowest point on the planet (-400 meters above sea level, approximately) and on the other, its waters have a salinity level so high that the bather floats effortlessly. In addition, its sludge is highly appreciated in the cosmetic industry.

After the free afternoon at the Dead Sea, we will return to Amman where dinner will be waiting for you at the hotel, prior to a well-deserved rest in the rooms.

  • Breakfast at hotel in Amman
  • Ajloun Castle
  • Roman city of Jerash
  • Free lunch in Amman
  • Afternoon excursion to the Dead Sea. Free time
  • Dinner and overnight at hotel in Amman

Day 3: Amman (city tour) - Madaba - Mount Nebo - Karak - Petra

This tour of Jordan and Jerusalem leaves Amman on his third day. But not before having breakfast at the hotel and taking an urban tour of the city: the capital of the country surprises with its extensive history with monuments that impact, such as the Roman Theater, and for displaying a vibrant and typically Arab rhythm of life.

After leaving Amman behind, we will head by road to Madaba: this small town is known for its Christian past, which is still palpable in many of its corners today. For example, in its archaeological remains and in its churches, among which St. George stands out: inside is the Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land (sixth century), considered the first cartographic representation of this territory that the Jews call the Promised Land and the Muslims, Palestine.

The next destination of the day also has a lot of religious symbolism: Mount Nebo, from where the prophet Moses glimpsed the aforementioned Promised Land. An interpretation center explains its context and a church with beautiful mosaics demonstrates the worship that was given to this space since ancient times. In addition, a viewpoint recalls the biblical episode and, if the day is clear, will allow us to see the final destination of this circuit through Jordan and Jerusalem .

The second section of the day will take us south by road, along the Carretera del Rey, which at the time was a great caravan route. In it impregnable castles were built, such as Karak, which we will visit. It is a construction designed by the Christian crusaders of Jerusalem in the early twelfth century, but later taken by the army of Saladin.

The end of the route of this day concludes in the vicinity of Petra (Wadi Musa), whose exploration we will leave for the next day. For the time being, you will have dinner at the hotel and rest for the expected visit the next day.

  • Amman City Tour
  • Madaba: visit of the church of San Jorge and its mosaic map
  • Mount Nebo: visit of the sacred mountain
  • Karak: visit of the castle
  • Arrival in Wadi Rum (Petra)
  • Dinner and overnight at hotel in Wadi Rum (Petra)

For many, the fourth day of this tour through Jordan and Jerusalem is the most anticipated: await the visit to Petra, the ancient capital of the Nabataeans that is not only a World Heritage Site, but also one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. After breakfast and without time to lose, we will go to the Visitor Center to enter the enclosure.

From the Tomb of the Obelisks and through the spectacular Siq or entrance canyon, we will reach its most iconic place: the Treasury, probable mortuary temple of King Aretas III that immortalized Indiana Jones two millennia later. But the tour goes much further and includes the Street of the Façades, the Nabataean theater, temples of its polytheistic religion and the core of the Roman city, with its majestic Columned Street. And as a finishing touch, the imposing climb to the no less spectacular Al Deir Monastery.

Undoubtedly, an intense day to enjoy a place that defies time and the laws of gravity, and that lasts forever in the memory of those who are lucky enough to visit it. Some thoughts that will surely be present during dinner and the night of rest, both in the hotel of Wadi Musa.

  • Breakfast of hotel in Wadi Musa (Petra)
  • Full-day visit to Petra
  • Dinner and overnight at hotel in Petra

Day 5: Petra - Little Petra - Wadi Rum - Jerusalem

The fifth day of this circuit through Jordan and Jerusalem It takes us through places of the most varied among themselves, all of them of extraordinary beauty and magnetism. After breakfast at Wadi Musa’s hotel we will move to the first: Little Petra, in nearby Al Beida, which is named for looking like the younger sister of the ancient Nabataean capital. Here there are also premises and temples carved into the rock, a large canyon that articulates the space and corners of the most surprising, which served as a home for the Bedouins until not long ago.

Where there was also and still is a fascinating Bedouin atmosphere is in Wadi Rum, the next destination of the day. This desert, which delighted T.E. Lawrence ( Lawrence of Arabia

) and which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an overwhelming nature reserve of steep mountains, red sand dunes and capricious rock formations, which we will travel largely in 4×4.

Wadi Rum will be the southernmost point we reach on this circuit through Jordan and Jerusalem and, after the visit, we will return by road to Amman to cross the border into Israel. It will be through the crossing of King Hussein (or Allenby), with the patience and bureaucratic procedures that this formality requires for tourists. And already on Israeli soil, we will cross the Judean desert to reach the hotel in Jerusalem, where the room awaits for the rest of this fifth night.

  • Visit to Little Petra
  • Travel to Wadi Rum. 4×4 Desert Tour
  • Transfer to the border with Israel, via Amman (King Hussein/Allenby Pass)
  • Border formalities and transfer to Jerusalem
  • Overnight in hotel in Jerusalem

Day 6: Jerusalem - Bethlehem - Jerusalem

The last days of this tour of Jordan and Jerusalem They are very intense on a religious level, because they take us to the most charismatic corners of this holy city for Jews, Christians and Muslims. Therefore, after breakfast at the hotel, we will take advantage from the first hour to discover all its secrets and attractions.

First of all, the Mount of Olives, where the famous Jewish Cemetery also extends and from where the views of the city are spectacular. We will visit the Garden of Gethsemane and its Basilica, in the place where Jesus was arrested while praying.

After that, we will enter the Old City to discover some of its most important places, in this case for Jews and Muslims: the Western Wall, which is the only thing left of the ancient Temple of Solomon, and the Esplanade of the Mosques, with its famous Dome of the Rock.

The next stop on the route is located south of the Old City, on Mount Zion, where three places full of symbolism stand out: the Tomb of the Jewish King David, the Cenacle where Jesus starred in his Last Supper with the 12 apostles and the Abbey of the Dormition, where the Virgin entered into eternal sleep.

There will still be time during the morning to visit another important place for religious and cultural tourists: the neighborhood of Ein Karem, where St. John the Baptist was born and where the Holocaust Museum is located.

The afternoon, on the other hand, will be dedicated to an essential excursion in any circuit through Jordan and Jerusalem : the city of Bethlehem, birthplace of Jesus Christ. In fact, we will visit the Basilica of the Nativity, which is a World Heritage Site and one of the oldest churches in the world. Other temples worth seeing and that can be part of the tour are the church of Santa Catalina and the Grotto of San Jerónimo.

After that, the route will bring us back to Jerusalem, for a restful night at the hotel.

  • Breakfast at hotel in Jerusalem
  • Mount of Olives and Basilica of Gethsemane
  • Old City: Western Wall and Esplanade of the Mosques
  • Mount Zion: King David’s Tomb, Cenacle and Dormition Abbey
  • Basilica of the Nativity
  • Return to Jerusalem

The penultimate day of this tour through Jordan and Jerusalem It will help us to know the last and important historical and religious places of this sacred city, as well as the attractions of the modern area. Therefore, breakfast at the hotel will give us energy to start the day strongly.

The first section of the day will be dedicated to visiting the places related to the Passion of Jesus: the Via Dolorosa with its 14 stations, especially the last ones located in the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, where Christ was crucified and buried. After that, we will also visit the Jewish quarter and the Roman Cardo, one of the most picturesque areas of the city.

Later, the route takes us to discover a very different face of Jerusalem: the modern one. Among the most interesting spaces that we will know is the Jewish Parliament (Knesset), the presidential residence and the Israel Museum, where the Dead Sea Scrolls and a spectacular model of Herodian Jerusalem, from the time of Christ, among other attractions, are exhibited.

After the visit to the Israel Museum, there will be free time for shopping and other leisure activities. And at the end of the day, you will wait at the hotel for the last night’s rest of this circuit through Jordan and Jerusalem .

Than we go down along the Jordan Valley and river and reach to Bethany beyond the Jordan, the site where John the Baptist has baptized Jesus Christ according to the New Testament.

The most spectacular site today, is the Dead Sea, which at 400 meters below sea level is the lowest body of water on earth.. Because the salt content is eight times that of most world’s oceans, you can float in the Dead Sea without even trying. Swimming in the Dead Sea is a truly unique experience not to be missed.

Petra

West of the Dead Sea and along the Kingsway, is the mosaic-filled city of Madaba.

Crowned by a small church, this historic town lies in the middle of Jordan’s most fertile land.

The finest mosaic found to date is still in its original place on the floor of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George. Situated 10 kilometers west of Madaba, overlooking the Jordan Valley is Mount Nebo, one of the alleged sites of the tomb of Moses.

Many of these mosaics have been excavated and are on display in the town’s museum, but it is estimated that many more lie hidden waiting to be discovered. The finest mosaic found to date is still in its original place on the floor of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George. He made Kerak the new capital of the province because it was situated on the king’s highway, Where it could control all traffic from north and south.

Kerak lies about 150 Km south of Amman and is famous of its crusader fortress  in the center of underground galleries, rooms and secret passageways and its thick defensive walls pierced by narrow arrow slits where crusader archers held out bravely but in vain for over 100 years.

In the Footsteps of Yeshua

8th – 17th May 2024

8th – 17th Sept 2024

jordan jerusalem tour

The tour begins with a departure from Jerusalem to the East. You will be driven towards the Jordanian Border and home to one of two sites traditionally attributed with the Baptism of Yeshua by John The Baptist. Qasr el Yahud (Bethany by the Jordan) is the more likely of the two possible locations, due to its proximity to the Mount of Temptation, and today is one of the most visited locations by Christians visiting Israel.

On route to Qasr el Yahud, you will visit a whole host of locations including: *Wadi Quelt, the Old Jericho Road, the Old Pilgrims road and of course the Jordan River. Here you will be given the opportunity to be baptised at the very site where Yeshua is said to have been immersed by John.

After your baptism our guides will follow the biblical narrative and head out towards the Mount of Temptation, where Yeshua was tempted after fasting for 40 and 40 nights. You will visit the view point at the bottom of the mountain before  having the opportunity to take a closer look at Jericho, with visits to the Ancient walls which came tumbling down and a visit to the traditional site of Elisha Well.

Time permitting, we will then begin our journey back towards Jerusalem with stops at the Dead Sea (for a swim) and *Qumran to learn about the discovery of the now world famous Dead Sea Scrolls. What are you waiting for – Book your tour today for a once in a lifetime experience.

Tour Option:  Due to popular demand the baptism tour can now be done in two ways – as listed above or with the addition of Bethlehem.  Please see the ‘includes’ tab above for more details.

Our tour is a great option for people with a deep interest in Petra who are looking to explore Petra in depth and visit Petra by Night. This four-day tour departs every Monday. Your tour will start in northern Jordan in Jerash, the impressive Roman city. From there, you’ll continue to the Jordanian city capital of Amman, with time to see the Citadel, Roman Theater and markets. You will also visit Madaba and Mount Nebo, as well as the King’s way to Petra. Arriving in Petra, you might choose to to join the “Petra by night” tour and see the Nabatean city lit up by candlelight. This day of your Egypt, Jordan, Jerusalem Tour is definitely going to be one of the highlights of your trip because once you’ve had breakfast you will be driven to see the ancient Rose Red City of Petra which was established during the 6th Century BC by the Nabatean Arabs. This remarkable site represents an entire city which was carved out of the rock faces of a 1,200-meter-long gorge which in places can be more than 80 meters deep. This tour involves quite a bit of walking so it is highly recommended to wear comfortable footwear.

It is a 700-meter walk from the visitor center to the entrance of the gorge, and then a further 1,200 meters to the far end of the gorge where you will see the most remarkable feature of them all, The Treasury. After spending approximately 3 hours at the site, our tour representative well then drive you back to your hotel in the evening, a trip which takes approximately two and a half hours. Once you get back to the hotel you will have the remainder of the day to yourself.

Our tour representative will fetch you from your hotel at 07h00 this morning, and you will proceed to the Allenby Bridge/King Hussein Border where you will leave Jordan. Your Jerusalem tour guide will then meet you and he will then drive you to the Holy City of Jerusalem via the Judean Desert.

Your actual tour begins with an opportunity to enjoy some spectacular views from the top of the Mount of Olives. Next, you will take a leisurely walk down to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. From here, you will then proceed to the Old City to see the Wailing Wall which is all that remains of an ancient Jewish temple that was destroyed by the Romans.

If the area is open to visitors at the time of your visit, you will head up Temple Mount to see one of the world’s most holy places, the Dome of the Rock. Next, you will be taken to walk along the Via Dolorosa which is essentially the path Jesus walked with his cross before being crucified. The path leads to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher which marks the area of his crucifixion. Your Jerusalem tour will now be over so you will be transferred back to the border with Jordan, and then on to your hotel in Amman.

Blinken to visit Jordan, Egypt, Qatar and Israel to discuss ceasefire

A mman, June 7 (Petra)-- From June 10 to 12, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will start his tour of Jordan, Egypt, Israel, and Qatar.

In a statement, the State Department stated that Secretary Blinken will meet with partners on the necessity of a ceasefire that ensures the release of all hostages and emphasizes how crucial it is that Hamas approves the current proposal, which is nearly the same as the one that Hamas backed last month.

Secretary Blinken talks about the benefits of the proposed ceasefire for both Israelis and Palestinians, emphasizing that it will lessen Gazans' suffering, enable a significant increase in humanitarian relief, and let Palestinians return to their neighborhoods.

In addition to facilitating closer integration between Israel and its Arab neighbors, the agreement will boost Israel's long-term security, promote stability throughout the region, and allow Lebanese and Israeli families to return to their homes.

Blinken, in Jordan, will attend a summit co-hosted by Jordan, Egypt, and the UN on emergency humanitarian response to the Gaza situation.
