The glamorous and sophisticated French Riviera town of Saint-Tropez hosts the sixth leg of the 2024 season, with the arena only a stone’s throw away from the turquoise waters of Pampelonne beach.

This sun-soaked destination is synonymous with elegance and style, and will play host to breathtaking competition once again at the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show (LAOHS).

Ramatuelle, Saint-Tropez

This breathtaking venue in the sophisticated Riviera resort of Ramatuelle/Saint Tropez hosts the 5th leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour for the 2023 season, and marks a key stage in the Championship as the riders continue to battle for the top positions in the all-important rankings.

For the first weekend in June, the sparkling Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show (LAOHS) will see the world's top horses and riders head to the legendary Pampelonne Beach with it's turquoise waters and enviable blue skies. In total, a hundred riders and nearly 200 horses are expected, representing more than twenty nations.

Ramatuelle/Saint Tropez is situated on the French Riviera, 100 kilometres (62 miles) west of Nice in the Var department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of Occitania, Southern France. The city is well known for the Hôtel Byblos and for Les Caves du Roy, a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, whose inauguration with Brigitte Bardot and Gunter Sachs in 1967 was an international event. The port of Saint Tropez was widely used during the 18th century however its role as a commercial port declined, and it is now primarily a tourist spot and a base for many well known sail regattas. There is fast boat transportation with Les Bateaux Verts to Sainte-Maxime on the other side of the bay and to Port Grimaud, Marines de Cogolin, Les Issambres and St-Aygulf.

Lilia Vu Statement on Chevron Championship Withdrawal

Defending champion Lilia Vu withdrew today from The Chevron Championship and has issued this statement about her withdrawal via social media:

“I am so sorry to have to withdraw from The Chevron Championship, as I was really looking forward to defending my first major title. I have been dealing with a back injury for a while now. Some days are better than others, and today was unfortunately not a good day. During my normal warm-up routine, I had severe discomfort in my back and I felt that I could not compete up to my standards and made the decision to withdraw from the tournament ahead of my tee time. I am planning to return home to see my doctors immediately to determine the best appropriate next steps.

I want to thank everyone at Chevron for their support and understanding. I am so proud to be a Chevron champion and can’t wait to get back next year. Thank you as well to the fans and volunteers at the course – you are in for a wonderful four days!”

Vu’s next scheduled start is next week’s JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro.

One of the oldest rivalries in sports takes to the soccer pitch Sunday as Real Madrid hosts FC Barcelona for the 2024 El Clásico game.

The La Liga Clásico takes place Sunday, April 21 at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT. Pre-game coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET.

El Clásico 2024 Predictions, Odds

Sunday’s soccer match between Barcelona and Real Madrid features the top two teams in the 2023/24 La Liga season . Both teams are riding four-game win streaks in La Liga.

Real Madrid (24-6-1) are coming off a win over Manchester City, which advanced them in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. Los Blancos are the favorites to win El Clásico 2024, with oddsmakers citing their balanced attack and the hot play of Jude Bellingham.

Barcelona (21-7-3), meantime, come off a 4-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in Champions League play. They are led by veteran forward Robert Lewandowski and will be looking for something to prove in their rival’s hometown.

This is the 257th El Clásico game between Barça and Real Madrid, with the first meeting taking place all the way back in May 1902. Real Madrid leads the head-to-head results, with 104 wins to Barcelona’s 100. There have been 52 games played to a draw.

Wesley Bryan has a big finish to restore lead at Puntacana on the PGA Tour

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic (AP) — Wesley Bryan went from comfortably leading at the start to needing a big finish at the end Friday in the Corales Puntacana Championship, and he got every bit of that for a 6-under 66 to move back in front of Justin Lower.

Bryan was tied for the lead in the morning when he reached the par-5 seventh hole to begin his eagle-birdie-birdie finish. Lower, playing three groups behind, did well to stay in range with two birdies over the last three holes for a 64.

Bryan, playing on a sponsor exemption, was at 15-under 129 to set the 36-hole tournament record by two shots. It also marked Bryan’s personal best for 36 holes.

He feels he stole a birdie on the par-3 ninth, his final hole, with a 30-foot putt that had what he felt was 10 feet of break.

“Putter is feeling good in the hands and hitting the ball fairly well. And off the tee has been nice,” Bryan said. “Been a good couple of days.”

It has been OK for Lower, too, who already is off to a good start this season with a tie for third in the Mexico Open a month ago.

Lower had a career-best 10 birdies Friday, which tied the tournament record. He had a few wobbles on his second nine that slowed his progress. But he goes into the weekend in a final pairing with Bryan and a comfortable margin over everyone chasing them.

Greyson Sigg twice ran off three birdies in a row for a 65 that left him four shots behind Bryan. The group another shot back included Bill Haas, a former FedEx Cup champion who has gone nine years since his last victory.

Haas’ career was slowed in 2018 when he was the passenger in a car driven by a friend, Mark Gibello, that crashed along the winding Los Angeles streets near Riviera Country Club. Gibello was killed in the crash.

Haas hasn’t been quite the same, and he is hopeful of a big week to restore confidence.

“We all believe in ourselves, but then results is what propels us forward to having a good week the next week and the next week. If you keep having poor results, it’s pretty easy to believe in that,” Haas said. “So it would mean a lot. It would just be nice to have a solid weekend and not go the other way.

“I would love to shoot a good round tomorrow and then have a good front nine and then all of a sudden look up on Sunday and be in the mix and then see what happens.”

Charley Hoffman, who lost in a playoff in the Phoenix Open in February, had a 68 and was in the group tied for fourth.

Nicolai Hojgaard, who briefly had the lead Saturday in his Masters debut, came down to the Dominican Republic and will be leaving early. He missed the cut with rounds of 73-72.

So did Kevin Chappell, but not before leaving his mark on the resort. Chappell made an albatross on the par-5 fourth hole, the fourth time this year a player made 2 on a par 5. The others were Jake Knapp in The American Express, Shane Lowry at Torrey Pines and Robby Shelton at the Valspar Championship.
