Luxury Cruises to Sicily

When you cruise to Sicily, you’ll visit the largest island in the Mediterranean and a region of Italy that attracts visitors from all over the world. The island is dominated by the often snow-capped cone of Mount Etna, the coast studded with charming seaside villages and beaches. You'll visit extraordinary antiquities, experience delicious cuisine and flavorful local wines, and enjoy the warm climate along Italy's southernmost coast all on one journey.

Sicily cruises bring you to historic ports like Messina, where you can wander the medieval streets, enjoy a cappuccino at an outdoor café, or explore the Duomo, an imposing and elegant cathedral built in the 12th century. In Taormina, you can shop for local artisanal goods, relax on one of the black sand beaches, or visit the vine-clad slopes and lava fields of Etna. A Sicily cruise is the perfect way to enjoy the splendors of Italy's southern Mediterranean coastline, all with the service, convenience, and luxury amenities that Celebrity offers.

Sicily Cruise Highlights

Ancient sites.

Visit the Valley of the Temples, one of the largest archaeological sites in the world, its antiquities dating back millennia. Take a tour of the Messina Bell Tower, and admire the remarkable astronomical clock. Stroll through the 18th century Villa Bellini Gardens in Catania, where you can admire some great views of Mount Etna as you take in the colorful flowers, splashing fountains, and an ornate, belle epoch bandstand.

Situated atop a rocky promontory, Taormina is one of the most beautiful towns in Sicily. Look for handmade jewelry while you walk through Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and around the historic medieval quarter. Stop for cannoli, fried pastry tubes filled with sweetened ricotta, a local specialty. Taormina is also known for its exquisite Greco-Roman amphitheater, with sweeping sea views and a backdrop of the brooding peak of Etna.

The majestic Mount Etna, located in eastern Sicily, towers 11,014 feet into the air. Its peak can be seen on the horizon from many areas of the island. Etna is active, and you’ll often see it belching steam, but this doesn’t deter wine growers, who cultivate some of Italy’s finest wines on its fertile volcanic slopes.

Luxury Cruises to Israel

Explore the ancient sites, cities, and historic ports of the Holy Land on a luxury cruise to Israel with Celebrity. Visit sacred temples, awe-inspiring museums, and natural wonders like the Dead Sea. Learn about thousands of years of religious and cultural heritage. Enjoy delicious cuisine that blends multiple cultures together with the bounty of the Mediterranean, and take in the breathtaking views of the sea as you do so.

Israel cruises will take you to ports like Ashdod, the gateway to Jerusalem, where you can walk in the footsteps of prophets and kings; and Haifa, where you can see the beautiful Bahá'í Gardens. You’ll also have the opportunity to take an excursion to see the biblical sights around Nazareth and the tranquil Sea of Galilee. No matter what you choose to do, a cruise to Israel is sure to be an adventure with the luxury amenities and world-class service that Celebrity is known for.

Israel Cruise Highlights

Religious sites.

On a cruise to Israel, you will visit some of the world's most important religious sites in Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. In Jerusalem, visit the Western Wall and Dome of the Rock, and walk the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Take time to see the profoundly moving Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center. Travel to Bethlehem to see where Christ was born. Stand in awe at the site of Jesus' baptism in the Jordan River and gaze out over the Sea of Galilee.

Sandwiched between Israel and Jordan is the Dead Sea, a body of water that is the lowest point on earth and has such a high concentration of saline that no life can survive in it. Lie back in the water as the minerals keep you effortlessly afloat, and shop for beauty products made from healing Dead Sea mud. You’ll also visit mountaintop Masada, where Jewish Zealots were besieged by the Romans.

Jerusalem Old City

Jerusalem’s origins date back to 4000 BC, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. Touring the Old City is fascinating, as layers of history are peeled back; you can even see down through occasional glass-covered sections in the sidewalk to excavations dating back to Roman times and earlier. Follow in the last footsteps of Christ, and see ancient olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane. Take time to sample the local lunch specialty, hummus and falafel stuffed into a warm pita, with salad.

T+L's editors have traveled to countries all over the world, having flown, sailed, road tripped, and taken the train countless miles. They've visited small towns and big cities, hidden gems and popular destinations, beaches and mountains, and everything in between. With a breadth of knowledge about destinations around the globe, air travel, cruises, hotels, food and drinks, outdoor adventure, and more, they are able to take their real-world experience and provide readers with tried-and-tested trip ideas, in-depth intel, and inspiration at every point of a journey.

Elizabeth Rhodes/Travel + Leisure

For the first time, we’re spotlighting new cruise ships on Travel + Leisure ’s It List, as these exceptional vessels become more and more like floating resorts — celebrity chefs, crystal chandeliers, and Rolex boutiques included.

Explora Journeys’ Explora I

Paul Brady/Travel + Leisure

It’s not every day a new cruise line arrives. The debut of the remarkable Explora I was a moment years in the making for Explora Journeys , the upstart luxury operator that aims to bring a European sensibility to the world of vacations at sea. So far, the project is a smashing success, thanks to the ship’s low-key vibe, standout food and beverage, and intriguing itineraries that visit in-demand ports in Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean. My own August 2023 trip on Explora I , from Copenhagen to Hamburg, Germany, included fulfilling visits to places such as Oslo and the town of Stavanger, Norway, a gateway to adventurous hiking with a postcard-perfect Old Town. The ship itself was also a destination, with its abundance of outdoor space — including an alfresco fitness center — and pools at seemingly every turn. The 461 suites, all of them with balconies, are filled with luxurious touches such as Frette linens and robes, heated marble floors, and Dyson hair dryers. But Explora I truly shines when it comes to food: During the week I was aboard, it was impossible to find a bad meal — and I was often astonished at the quality of, in particular, the pasta served in the Emporium Marketplace and the sushi on offer at Sakura, two of the nine restaurants aboard. The most ambitious of them all is Anthology, a rotating-chef concept that has seen a residency from seafood whiz Mario Ulaissi, known for his Michelin three-starred restaurant on Italy's Adriatic coast, and that recently welcomed Emma Bengtsson, from Aquavit , in New York City. Much has been made of Explora I ’s Rolex boutique — the first on any cruise ship — but for my money, the other shops on board were more interesting: The company has tapped family-owned businesses around the world to create capsule collections of resort wear, handbags, fragrances, sunglasses, and beautiful gifts that can’t be found elsewhere. From $2,050 per person for a six-day sailing. Accessible ship. — Paul Brady

Oceania Cruises’ Vista

Nick Tortajada/Courtesy of Oceania Cruises

The new Oceania Vista is in a class of its own; no really, it’s the first in Oceania Cruises ’ new Allura class. Of its 11 bars and restaurants, three are entirely new to the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings–owned brand — including a high-end cocktail spot called Founders’ Bar, serving 26 intricate drinks that use house-made syrups and top-shelf booze like Whistle Pig and parsley-infused Grey Goose. As Oceania levels up, the cruise line has produced a ship that feels more like a floating resort than the vessels that came before. There’s pickleball; a health-conscious restaurant, Aquamar, serving made-to-order salads and pressed juices; and a coffee shop that looks like one in walking distance of my home in L.A. (marble counters, gold accents, leather bar stools) and pulls an espresso shot of similar quality. Vista has more suites than others in the Oceania fleet, too: There are 14 Oceania Suites (up to 1,200 square feet); eight Vista Suites (up to 1,850 square feet); and three Owner’s Suites with Ralph Lauren Home decor and two massive terraces (2,400 square feet). But the most hotel-like touch? A celebrity chef–driven restaurant, Toscana, where Giada De Laurentiis — the ship’s godmother — supplied two recipes for the menu. As someone who watched a lot of Everyday Italian in the early aughts, I was particularly excited to try her signature, Capri-inspired lemon spaghetti, and lemon-cream sauce with grilled shrimp and capers didn’t disappoint. From $2,499 per person for a seven-night sailing. Accessible ship. — Maya Kachroo-Levine

Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Grandeur

Courtesy of Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ sixth ship, the Seven Seas Grandeur , sailed its inaugural season in December, joining sibling ships Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor as the newest member of the luxury fleet. The cruise line is a favorite among T+L readers for its gorgeous ships and all-inclusive pricing that covers unlimited shore excursions, dining at specialty restaurants, and even round-trip airfare. Grandeur lives up to its name thanks to stunning, art-filled spaces designed by cruise ship interior experts Studio Dado: signature restaurant Compass Rose is enchanting with interiors inspired by a fairy-tale forest; the Observation Lounge sparkles with an undulating chandelier and swanky bar; and the $11,000-per-night Regent Suite has a private en suite spa and custom Treesse mini pool. As I boarded Grandeur for the ship’s inaugural sailing, I was mesmerized by the grand staircase and glittering chandelier. And with a maximum capacity of 744 guests, I found it easy to take time to myself in the myriad of quiet spots tucked throughout the ship, whether in the Serene Spa and Wellness area, in the Library, or on the Sports Deck overlooking the ocean. Seven restaurants include specialty steakhouse Prime 7, pan-Asian restaurant Pacific Rim, and breakfast and lunch buffet La Veranda, which refines the cruise buffet experience with daily specials like paella and sushi. Several bars and lounges, a pool and hot tubs, a casino, Broadway-style productions, and cooking classes at the Culinary Arts Kitchen make the ship a destination in itself, though guests will want to take advantage of those included excursions on Caribbean, Central American, North American, and European itineraries, ranging from seven to 16 nights, during the ship’s 2024 season. From $4,669 per person for a seven-night sailing. Accessible ship. — Elizabeth Rhodes

Silversea’s Silver Nova

Courtesy of Silversea Cruises

Carrying 728 passengers, Silver Nova is big for the luxury sector, but boasts a hugely important metric: a capacious passenger space ratio — that is, the number of guests relative to the size of the ship. Simply put, this ship offers more elbow room per passenger than almost any other cruise vessel. Silver Nova is wrapped in glass, with an asymmetrical layout; the funnel is positioned off-center, so is the pool, offering an expansive, uncluttered pool deck. Many features of the brand-new ship recall previous Silversea successes, my favorite of which is the S.A.L.T. (Sea And Land Taste) program, expanded for Silver Nova . S.A.L.T. perks include a gorgeous, sea-facing lab for hands-on culinary lessons (at no additional cost), plus a new concept, the Chef’s Table, where an 11-course menu is prepared for just 24 diners. All facets of the S.A.L.T. ecosystem, including ingredients, a bar, lectures, and shore excursions, are keyed to the region Nova is sailing. While food is a drawing card for Silver Nova , accommodations also received a revamp. Tied to the theme of bringing the outside in, there are brilliant new suites found in the aft starboard corner of the ship, with wraparound balconies revealing a 270-degree view.  This is where you can tuck me in when I win the lottery and head off on a world cruise. But until then, Silver Nova will summer in Alaska and spend northern hemisphere winters in Australia and New Zealand, places where top-deck views should prove ceaselessly rewarding. From $3,250 per person for a seven-night sailing. Accessible ship. — David Swanson

Itineraries

Returning ports, tangier, morocco.

Known as the European gateway to Africa, Tangier sits on the northwest coast of Africa where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea via the Strait of Gibraltar. It is a diverse city of striking contrasts. For a taste of the past, visit the medina, the walled old town section of the city where a maze of alleys and walkways wind down to the coast. Within the medina is the entrance to the Kasbah—a walled fortress where the reigning sultans lived—now the Kasbah Museum. Outside the old town, you’ll find a bustling cosmopolitan city—a modern melting pot of cultures, flavors, and architecture that offers so much to discover.

Casablanca, Morocco

Beyond the well-known movie of the same name, Casablanca deserves the fame it’s acquired for so many other reasons. This bustling city, the largest in Morocco, offers everything from Morocco’s most popular architectural wonder—and one of the largest mosques in the world—the Mosque of Hassan II to a cosmopolitan foodie scene that’s an eclectic blend of global influences like nowhere else. The historic architecture brings a timeless mood to the city with areas that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a movie set. From the Art Deco buildings and facades of the early 1900s to the contemporary structures of modern times, Casablanca is a dynamic city with so many sides to uncover.

Fuerteventura, Canary Islands

Just off the northern coast of Africa, Fuerteventura is a vacation spot where the scenic beauty and unhurried pace make it the perfect place to completely unplug and reconnect with nature. The second largest island of the Canaries, this volcanic creation boasts a coastline that’s a breathtaking combination of pristine, white sand beaches, otherworldly sand dunes that stretch for miles, and dramatic cliffs that overlook the majestic Atlantic Ocean. The small towns and villages offer unique shops and cafés to explore. Part of the charm of this island is that it hasn’t yet been overdeveloped by tourism.

Suri Cruise in Soho.

Suri Cruise was all smiles while out and about in New York City with friends ahead of her 18th birthday.

Crusie looked the spitting image of mom Katie Holmes while spending Sunday alongside a gaggle of her girlfriends in Soho.

The teenager, whose birthday is April 18, dressed casually cool in a red sweater with white vertical stripes, a white silk skirt and brown sandals.

Suri Cruise and a friend in Soho

She kept her dark brown hair down in loose waves, pinning her front pieces back with two hair clips.

The group seemingly stopped at a couple of shops and cafes as they embraced one of NYC’s first sunny spring days.

While it’s unclear how the teen will be spending her big birthday, it likely won’t be with her famous father, Tom Cruise.

Suri Cruise and Katie Holmes

Page Six revealed last year that Suri has been estranged  from the “Mission Impossible” star for years.

While a source told us at the time that Tom has played “no part” in his daughter’s life, another Hollywood insider told us this week that the father-daughter duo haven’t seen each other since 2012.

“Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mom,” the source said. “This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

Katie Holmes

Suri has lived a low-key lifestyle with her mother in New York ever since the “Dawson’s Creek” alum filed for divorce from Tom in 2012 — allegedly due to his involvement with Scientology.

Despite being raised in the public eye — even appearing on Vanity Fair as an infant — Holmes has since shielded her daughter from the spotlight.

“I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person. She’s my heart,” Holmes told  Glamour  magazine in 2023.

The mother of one explained that feels the need to “protect” Suri from the limelight “because she was so visible at a young age.”

Although the teen has distanced herself from her dad, she is seemingly getting into the family business.

Page Six revealed in December 2023 that Suri inherited her parents’ acting chops, starring as the lead in her high school play.

“She was amazing,” one impressed audience member said of her portrayal of Morticia Addams in “The Addams Family: A New Musical.”

Essence Fashion Digest: Rihanna Wears Peter Do, Venus Williams Wears Vivienne Westwood, And More

This week in fashion was filled with moments that we want to highlight. First, fashion icon Rihanna wore a neutral-toned Peter Do oversized suit to her Fenty and Puma Creeper release party. Next, Venus Williams wore an off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood dress to the Challengers premiere in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, image architect Law Roach and actress Zendaya have once again created a moment honoring Olympic tennis icons Venus and Serena Williams .

Additionally, go-to sneaker brand New Balance has unveiled a new shoe that fashion enthusiasts might love. Next, Jacquemus has announced a new boutique location set to open in Dubai. The minimal space is like a touch of Paris in the Middle East. Lastly, Italian fashion house Gucci has announced its Cruise 2025 runway show location.

Keep scrolling to know the fashion happenings of the week.

Rihanna Wears Peter Do

Rihanna’s blonde tresses blended perfectly with her Peter Do oversized neutral look from the  Fall/Winter 2024 runway show. Her earthy brown pants and button-down were a few shades darker than her large beige blazer layered over. The Tom Ford yellow-tinted tortoise shell sunglasses added a pop of color to the monochromatic outfit. She also accessorized with a Balmain Jolie Madame black leather handbag from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection. She, of course, wore her brown Fenty Puma Creepers in honor of her new sneakers launch party.

Venus Williams Wears Vivienne Westwood

At the Challengers Los Angeles premiere, Olympian Venus Williams showed support for the tennis-themed movie in a Vivienne Westwood textured dress, styled by Simon Robins . The off-the-shoulder gown was designed with a pebbled leather texture and an asymmetrical hemline cut at the front. The light ruching at the waist was a flattering touch. Williams also wore a diamond tennis necklace and pair of small hoop earrings. Her strappy black-heeled sandals topped off  her outfit for the exciting evening.

Law Roach And Zendaya Honor Venus And Serena Williams

Law Roach is continuing his playful execution of memorable looks ahead of the nationwide premiere of Challengers, the Zendaya-starring film. On Thursday, Roach posted an image on Instagram of the actress with a white beaded hairstyle designed by Kim Kimble while wearing a custom black and white Carolina Herrera gown as she sits on a couch. The image captured by Ernest Cosillas is a direct reference to Venus and Serena Willimas’s image of the same dress and beads photographed for Vogue by Annie Leibovitz in 1998. Law called the fashion image an “ode to greats.”

New Balance Unveils An Unlikely New Shoe

New Balance has unveiled its 1906L shoe, a loafer silhouette in a gray/silver colorway. These are the second loafers to be revealed by the brand–the Junya Watanabe Fall/Winter 2024 runway debuted the first collaborative pair. The 1906 silhouette uses the 1906D running sneaker aesthetics with leather and mesh makeup. The classic “N” motif sits on the top of the shoe with the “NB” sitting on the heels.

Stay tuned for a release date.

Jacquemus Opens A New Boutique In Dubai

French brand Jacquemus has announced a new boutique is opening in Dubai at the Dubai Mall. The rich city is a growing attraction for luxury brands to have boutiques and flagships located there. This is the brand’s third permanent location aside from one in Paris and the other in Korea. The new boutique is over 3000 square feet and was designed with the founder Simon Porte’s home in Provence.

“I am thrilled to announce the opening of our first boutique in the Middle East, in the Dubai Mall,” Porte shared in a statement to WWD . “I am very happy to start this new chapter for the brand and continuing its retail expansion worldwide.”

Gucci Announces Its Cruise 2025 Show Location

The Italian fashion house Gucci is holding its Cruise 2025 runway show in London at the Tate Modern on May 13. Creative director Sabato De Sarno will have his debut cruise show since taking the role last January. This location announcement stems from a long-lasting relationship between Gucci and the global city London. According to WWD , the founder Guccio Gucci worked in London for as a luggage porter and lift boy. From that experience, the founder became inspired by the bags he’d see guests carrying as a boy to create his own after founding his brand in 1921. In conjunction with the show, Gucci is supporting the Tate Modern’s exhibition “Electric Dreams” which opens this fall, and will enter into a three-year partnership with the museum to implement programs to serve young creatives.

Rebecca Ferguson Says Her Mission: Impossible Character's Death Was 'Collaborative,' Not 'Enough Space' in Franchise

With “a lot of characters” joining the Tom Cruise franchise, Rebecca Ferguson says she had to make a difficult decision to have the “awesome” Ilsa Faust exit

Keith Hamshere/Paramount Pictures/ Everett

Rebecca Ferguson is clarifying the reasons behind her exit from the Mission: Impossible franchise.

The actress behind Ilsa Faust called the character’s planned death in 2023’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One “collaborative” in an upcoming interview on WrapWomen’s UnWrapped podcast, per TheWrap .

“Ilsa was becoming a team player,” said Ferguson, 40, of her butt-kicking assassin first introduced in 2015’s fifth entry in the Tom Cruise -led series, Rogue Nation . “And we all can want different things, but for me… Ilsa was naughty. Ilsa was unpredictable.”

In the franchise’s sixth and seventh entries, there were “a lot of characters coming in, not leaving enough space for what she had been,” she added.

Ilsa’s introduction to the Mission: Impossible world preceded Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis a.k.a. the White Widow, Angela Bassett as CIA Director Erika Sloane, Henry Cavill as CIA assassin August Walker, Pom Klementieff as assassin Paris, Hayley Atwell as thief Grace and Esai Morales as terrorist Gabriel.

It was the latter character who murderously ended Ferguson’s reign as the “rogue” Ilsa, as the Dune star reportedly said on UnWrapped . “To speak very clearly — because I know a lot of people are sad about it, I’m sad about it — I had filmed three films. My [contract] deal was done.”

She added that she loves her Mission: Impossible character “beyond words. I think she’s the most awesome, fantastic character.”

Other considerations, she said, were the physical and logistical commitments to continuing in a blockbuster action franchise. “Selfishly, that’s a lot of time to make a Mission film. And unless you’re going to have a lot of screen time, that’s a lot of time sitting around waiting to film a huge movie that could take over a year to film.”

Ferguson added, “There’s a moment where you think it needs to be worth it, not just to love the character and to embrace Tom and [writer-director Christopher McQuarrie ] and the story. I want to work, man. I want to work. I don’t want to sit in a trailer… It is so intoxicatingly exciting when you’re rolling, but there’s a lot of waiting.”

For a growing franchise — whose eighth film is expected to hit screens on May 23, 2025 — the star noted, “The more characters that are brought in, the more waiting.” After wrapping up Ilsa's story in Dead Reckoning Part One , Ferguson pointed out, she filmed both Dune movies and two seasons of Apple TV+ drama Silo .

Ferguson also stars in the 2025 sci-fi drama Mercy with Annabelle Wallis and Chris Pratt.
