Generally speaking, April to October is the best time for visiting Bali due to the dry weather. However, don't worry if you travel at any other time, as you will find green areas in the rice fields in Bali throughout the year and plenty to enjoy despite the rains, and you won't be disappointed.

2. Is it safe to travel around Bali?

In general, Bali is considered a safe destination, since very few visitors come across any real problems.

Bali has been the scene of Islamic terrorist attacks targeting nightclubs and restaurants popular among foreign visitors in 2002 and other less notorious attacks averaging one/year over the last two decades, so remain vigilant and take special care since terrorist acts cannot be predicted.

When it comes to beaches, if there is a red flag planted in the sand, do not swim there, since the currents can be extremely strong.

To protect your money, use only authorized money changers, and when withdrawing money from ATM use the ones that are inside the bank.

3. What should I pack for a trip to Bali?

While the weather in Bali tends to be very warm year-round, and beach clothes are usually enough (plus hiking clothes etc. according to your plans), it's always good to bring a light rain jacket — this is the tropics and you do get caught in some sudden tropical storms! And you may want to pack a little extra rain gear if you're headed to Bali in the rainy season — November, December, or January.

4. When is the Bali high season?

There were two periods that were considered the peak times in Bali:

• Christmas, when the island is visited mainly by Australians and New Zealanders.
• July and August, which is the European summertime and school holidays.

During those times, the prices of accommodation in Bali skyrocketed and the main places to visit in Bali were overcrowded. There is a slow return to these trends, but there is no overcrowding and no seasonal price hikes as yet. Other than Christmas and summer, "high season" is the drier months of April to October.

They also re-arranged the schedule to make sure that we would have good weather and no rain at each of the sites. I feel like if I had to go to each of these sites on my own, I would lose so much time figuring out tickets, shuttles, and queue numbers that I would not be able to accomplish as much in a day, so I highly recommend doing a tour. My favorite was definitely the coffee plantation where we were able to take a break from taking photos and learn how they make their famous luwak coffee. We were also able to try all their various types of coffees and teas, which were all delicious. Lastly, Jay was extremely accommodating in terms of getting the photos that we liked. For example, he would recommend poses but let us do some fun ones on our own too. He also made sure we were able to have group pictures and even one time offered his shoe for someone to kneel on since the concrete was dirty. Verry also offered to carry our bags when we had to make steep climbs and when it was our turn for photos. Overall, this was an amazing experience!! We arranged in advance to meet Wayan at the airport when we arrived. We planned to meet the person pictured and described in Wayan’s profile. When we arrived at the airport after some confusion and enlisting the assistance of airport customer services, we were met by someone else. He said that Wayan was his boss. His English proficiency was limited. The driver was pleasant and we were able to do most of the things on our planned itinerary. However, without any notice of the change or opportunity to cancel, this last minute change felt like a bait and switch. I do not recommend Wayan B.

Kotraro is a sophisticated guide who showed up in traditional wear and gave us comfort with healing music in his car. That made our journey unforgettable as a rainy forest drive. He was very kind to our daghters. He answered all of my quiestions about Balian (fortune teller), president election, Bali style funeral, etc. This time we just asked him to help some of our family errands in Sanur area on the way from Ubud to Nusa Dua. He perfectly planned and acoomplished everyting in time. Here I bitterly regret I should have met him before to request a Ubud tour. Highly recommend this guide.

Wayan is such a skillful guid& driver that he organized a full new itinerary for us just after we requested our "want-to-visit" at hotel lobby in the morning. Skipping crowd, we finished several activities including giant swings and melukat. I recommend this gentle-heated guy because he's also good at videos and photos. I am sure he can maximize your stay in Ubud. Kids-friendly, well-maintainted car, and good English!
