Gipsy Kings mit starkem Rückenwind auf Tournee im Mai

Begeisterte Besucher, klasse Konzertkritiken, volle, oftmals sogar restlos ausverkaufte Spielstätten. Diese Top-Bilanz ihrer Deutschland-Konzerte im Sommer 2022 liefert gute Gründe, dass The Gipsy Kings feat. Nicholas Reyes auch 2023 wieder live in Deutschland zu erleben sind. Vom 16. bis 21. Mai heizt die Flamenco-/Salsa-Pop-Formation mit mehr als nur ihren Welthits „Bamboléo“ oder „Baila me“ erneut hierzulande ein. Eintrittskarten zu ihren schweißtreibenden Shows sind online und bei den stationären Vorverkaufsstellen erhältlich.

„Schon beim instrumentalen Auftakt mit ‚Galaxia‘ waren die Besucher binnen Sekunden mitgerissen vom vielstimmigen Gitarrensound“, stand in der Kritik der Offenbach-Post. „Spätestens bei ‚Djobi Djoba‘ war erste Siedepunkt erreicht, den die Band im Laufe des Konzertes immer wieder zu toppen wusste. Besonderer Höhepunkt neben den weiteren bekannten Hits wie ‚Bem, Bem‘, ‚Vamos a bailar‘ und der Gipsy-Interpretation des Italo-Klassikers ‚Volare‘: eine atemberaubende Darbietung des Stückes ‚Asturias‘ vom spanischen Komponisten Isaac Albéniz.“

Die unwiderstehlichen Rhythmen und feurige Darbietung der Lieder animieren das Publikum zum Tanzen, Klatschen, Singen. Diese Euphorie brachte die Rezensentin der Berliner Morgenpost in einem Satz auf den Punkt: „Mit ihrem energetischen Mix aus Flamenco, Rock und Salsa begeistern die Gipsy Kings.“ Obwohl von der 1975 gegründeten Originalbesetzung heutzutage nur noch Gründungsmitglied Nicholas Reyes Leadgesang/Gitarre) in den Reihen der verjüngten Familien-Formation steht, „hat“, so op-online, „die Band an Faszination nichts verloren.“

A family affair, Gipsy Kings have been delivering their unique Afro-Spanish spin on flamenco pop since the 1980s, finding worldwide fame and performing alongside some of the biggest names in pop.

Formed in Arles, a small village in southern France, the children of famous flamenco artist, Jose Reyes, decided to begin their own musical adventure. The brothers Nicholas and Andre Reyes joined their cousins, Jaques, Maurice and Tonino Baliardo in the early '80s, initially as a Gypsy band, performing at weddings and other functions. Whilst a popular live band, their initial releases failed to attract much attention outside of the flamenco fan base.

Desiring wider recognition of their talents, the band grew into their musical style, creating a contemporary pop twist on traditional flamenco, also incorporating eclectic influences from the Middle East, Latin America, North Africa and rock. Their unique creations found the Gipsy Kings breakout success, with two hit singles, "Djobi Djoba" and "Bamboleo" in 1987, charting highly in the French charts. Singing to Sony Music thereafter, their eponymous debut arrived in 1988, breaking the Top Ten album charts in 12 European countries, including the difficult UK market.

Things kept on getting better for the Gipsy Kings, singing with Sony in America and having their performance debut at the New York New Music Seminar in 1989. Shortly after, they were invited to play at George Bush's inaugural ball, although despite the prestigious invitation, they travelled home to rest. Performing at the Royal Albert Hall, UK, The Gipsy Kings were given the chance to perform alongside some of the greatest stars in pop, sharing the stage with the likes of Elton John and Eric Clapton.

With the US release of their debut, Gipsy Kings found huge success, spending 40 weeks at the top of the charts, becoming certified Gold. Gipsy Kings released quality albums year after year following the success of their debut, with their music being met with Gramy nominations in 1991, 1993 and 1997, before finally receiving the coveted award in 2013 for "Savor Flamenco," awarded with 'Best World Music Album.' Throughout their long and well-established career, they have toured extensively across the globe, taking little rest until slowing down after 2007's "Pasajero."

Live reviews

Glass of Sangria, Flamenco music, setting sun on a warm evening, all put on by Gipsy Kings. What more could you want? The rumba style flamenco music played by the legends was completely captivating, and although the outdoor venue wasn't sold out, every single audience member was enthused and dedicated to the performance by the Gipsy Kings, loving every moment. Although all of the artists began their lives in France, the authenticity of their Spanish music would never give them away. From the moment they started playing, their rhythms, harmonies, and vocals were absolutely spot on - even better than on recordings! The audience and the band worked with each other, bouncing energy between the crowd and performers. Although there were some of my favourite tracks that didn't get performed, the material that I hadn't heard before made up for it. My favourite song, Bamboleo, was the last number they performed before their encore, and left the audience hungry for more.

They really know how to work a crowd with their witty banter, involving the entire audience and gaining a massive appreciation from their fans. They get better and better, and I will be going to see them again before long...don't miss your chance!

Amazing show as expected. Only negative comments are on technical side; sound and lighting were not that great. Venue is nice but a lot of wasted space (seats were laid around the pool, to the center of the stage, so the first 5 rows faced the stage, then a large gap for no reason, then two more rows and nothing behind but the pool, with people scattered on the sides of the pool... Why waste all this space, and make it about the sights around people, rather than the show itself? It also made the atmosphere less exciting, with people spread round instead of everyone together dead center? I was lucky to get one of the last seats just ahead of the pool, right in front of the stage, but still there were SO MANY distractions with people walking right in front, between the first five rows and our two rows. It was unfortunate and hopefully the Gyspy Kings will go back to better venues like Hard Rock, House of Blues.

I definitely recommend seeing them. Their hits are timeless and always get you up on your feet...

French/Spanish melange the Gipsy Kings have a skill in transporting you to the sunny settings of their roots in the balmy Montpellier with their instruments. With a rich family past involving Romani gypsy and escape from the Spanish civil war, the band's namesake is steeped in history and they speak fondly of their beginnings and upbringing during breaks in their chill wave set list.

Having performed as a group for over thirty years now, the Gipsy Kings are an incredibly tight operation onstage and work as one succinct piece. Performing entirely in Spanish, they get the crowds of all nationalities dancing to their flamenco style pop.

The feeling of traditionalism is really wonderful as it clear that the group has always stayed true to the music that they enjoy making and it obviously has personal resonance too. This dedication has paid off with critical accolade including Grammy awards as well as complete support from their audience who applaud the band intently during the final bows.

I love the gipsy kings, and have most of my life, but the show we saw last night was not the gipsy kings that I know. The singing was average, at best. the crowd really supported them, but there were too many "original" band members missing. they should announce ahead of time that there will be a number of "stand in" band members. We did enjoy the show, overall.

sorry to criticize my most beloved band, ever.

First time I saw them on tV was in 1989 as they opened up Disneyworld in Paris . Loved their music . I have seen them in concert at least 5 or 6 times in Texas . I was a little disappointed that most members are not original . They put on a great show / great music as you can see on you tube .

f you have an idea of who the band is; theres not much to be said. The music has been great since the 80's. Listnening to the band makes you want to dance and sing a long. Going to the live event lets you dance and sing a long live in real time, it doesn't get better than that.

The Gipsy Kings ALWAYS put on a wonderfully entertaining performance. This is the first time we have seen them outside and it was even better! Of course, we always wish they would go longer. And we appreciate the opportunity to purchase concert gear.

It was awesome! The concert was everything I expected to be and Gipsy Kings are the kings of guitars! Incredible!! They made the whole theater stand on their feet and dance with them! They even let some fans go up on the stage to dance! The concert was amazin!!

The sound system was phenomenal! While the set list included the usual hits, I only heard one song from the new album and none of Tonino Bailiardo's hits. This being my fourth show over the years, it was my second favorite.

Gipsy Kings “Renaissance” tour to begin April 14, 2023

Tonino Baliardo will be performing on the storied group Gipsy Kings’ upcoming tour, according to the South Florida-based entertainment, marketing, and media company Loud And Live.

The Gipsy Kings with Tonino Baliardo, who have sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, won two GRAMMY® Awards, and have had a career spanning more than 30 years, will be making a comeback to the stages of the United States and Canada in 2023 with their new “Renaissance” tour.

“The impact that the music of the Gipsy Kings had on the world is incalculable. Their Bamboleo is part of our collective DNA. This tour is very aptly titled since it will be a rebirth for this magnificent group,” said Nelson Albareda, two-time Latin GRAMMY®, and GRAMMY® Award-winning producer, as well as founder and CEO of Loud And Live.

The tour, which will stop in some of the most significant American cities and two Canadian locations, will start on April 14, 2023, in Denver, Colorado, and end on May 7, 2023, in Orlando, Florida. Their new album will be out at the same time as Renaissance.

It is being heralded as “an album packed with gypsy passion and tradition drawn from authentic gypsy life” because it is their first release in eight years.

“Over the years, we have performed in the United States and made many friends on our trips there. We will be playing all the favorites and some new songs as well. I guarantee it will be a wonderful party,” said Tonino Baliardo.

The Gipsy Kings, a flamenco rumba band including Tonino Baliardo, will embark on a massive 12-city tour of North America in the first quarter of 2023. Their Renaissance Tour starts on April 14 in Denver. ‘Savor Flamenco,’ the Gipsy Kings’ thirteenth studio album, was released through Knitting Factory on September 10, 2013. The CD tied with Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s “Live: Singing for Peace Around the World” for Best World Music Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. The French band was formed in 1978 and is widely credited with popularizing a progressive take on flamenco among listeners across the world.

The band was formed by Nicolas Reyes (lead singer) and Tonino Baliardo (lead guitarist), who also happened to be the band’s original members. Rumba flamenca group Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo will be launching a sizable 12-city tour across North America taking place in early 2023. Their Renaissance Tour kicks off April 14th in Denver and runs into May making additional U.S. stops in Albuquerque, Phoenix, San Diego, San Jose, Seattle, Newark, Boston, Atlanta and Orlando. Canadian shows are planned for Vancouver and Toronto. The band recently spent portions of 2022 performing with cofounder Nicholas Reyes on select dates.

UPDATE: Tour dates have been extended through the remainder of the year and into 2024 visiting Anaheim, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Huntington, Dallas, Washington DC, Atlanta and Houston.

Gipsy Kings will continue supporting their 13th studio album 'Savor Flamenco' released on September 10th, 2013 via Knitting Factory. The album won Best World Music Album at the Grammy Awards along with Ladysmith Black Mambazo 's 'Live: Singing for Peace Around the World' . Since forming in 1978, the French group is largely responsible for bringing progressive pop-oriented flamenco to a worldwide audience.

About Gipsy Kings 2024 Tour

Gipsy Kings tour 2024 : French rumba and flamenco bands Gypsy Kings and Tonino Baliardo, who sing many of their songs in Spanish, will be the protagonists of their new Renaissance Tour in the United States and Canada in 2023, announced Tuesday organizers.

The legendary band, which has sold more than 20 million records worldwide and won two Grammys, will return to the stages of the United States and Canada after a period of absence from the North American audience, said in a statement. The tour, which will visit some of the major cities in the United States and two cities in Canada, will begin in Denver, Colorado, on April 14, 2023 and will end in Orlando, Florida, on May 7, 2023. Renaissance will coincide with the release of his new album. The Renaissance album, their first in eight years, was hailed as "an album full of gypsy passion and true gypsy life traditions".

Gipsy Kings 2024 tickets will be on sale on Wednesday 7 December 2022 at 10.00 a.m. EST (local time). The official start of sales to the public is scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2022 at 10.00 a.m. EST (local time).
