In May, Garth Brooks was one of five artists to receive one of the most prestigious honors an artist can receive, The Kennedy Center Honor. Garth is the first-ever seven-time recipient of the CMA Entertainer of the Year honor. Brooks is the first and only artist in history to receive nine Diamond Awards for the now nine diamond-certified albums at over 10 million album sales each. He remains the #1-selling solo artist in U.S. history, certified by the RIAA with 157 million album sales. Recently, he was awarded Country Touring Artist of the Decade at the 2021 Pollstar Awards. Last March, Garth received the esteemed Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The event aired on PBS. He has received every accolade the recording industry can bestow on an artist.

In November, just after receiving the Billboard Music Icon Award, Garth released two new albums, his 12th studio album, "FUN" and live album "Triple Live Deluxe".

After the success of "Garth & Trisha Live!" during prime time on CBS in April, CBS also aired "Garth & Trisha Live! A Holiday Concert Event," in December. Both specials featured Garth and Trisha taking song requests through Facebook, live from their studio, Allentown, in Nashville.

In November of 2019, A&E aired "Garth Brooks: The Road I'm On," over two consecutive nights. Part of their esteemed 'Biography' franchise, the documentary offered an intimate look at Garth's life as a musician and father over his entire career.

In January 2020, Billboard announced that Garth Brooks was the first artist to make it on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in the 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s and now 20s. Garth debuted "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)" in 1989. Now, with "Dive Bar," a duet he sang with Blake Shelton, he makes his appearance on the list in 2020. The single inspired a DIVE BAR tour to dive bars in country music capitals around the country which will continue its run of stops through 2022.

Last year, Garth went vinyl with his meticulously-curated vinyl package, LEGACY. This career-defining collection includes No Fences, The Chase, In Pieces, Fresh Horses and Triple Live, plus CDs with bonus tracks for a total of 7 vinyl albums and 7 CDs in each edition.

In March 2019, Garth launched The Stadium Tour, which has broken stadium attendance records at every stop on the tour so far. Pollstar announced at the end of last year that The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour was the best-selling country music tour of 2019. In 2017, Garth finished the three-and-a-half-year long Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood. The tour sold over 6.3 million tickets, making it the biggest North American tour in history and the biggest American tour in the world.

Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks has received every accolade the music industry can bestow on an artist and is the top-selling solo artist in U.S history with over 148 million album sales.

garth brooks smiles at the camera, he wears a straw cowboy hat, black collared shirt and a gold medal with a ribbon lanyard

Who Is Garth Brooks?

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on February 7, 1962, Garth Brooks signed with Capitol Records and released his self-titled first album in 1989. His third studio effort, Ropin’ the Wind , was the first country album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. He is the only artist in history to have won seven CMA Entertainer of the Year awards and to have received eight Diamond awards for album sales.

Early Career

Brooks got his start in music singing in bars and clubs while attending Oklahoma State University. In 1987, he moved to Nashville. With help from music manager Bob Doyle, Brooks eventually signed to Capitol Records. His early hits include "If Tomorrow Never Comes" and "The Dance."

Commercial Success

Although sales for the singer's first album, Garth Brooks (1989), were good, it would have been hard to predict the amazing success of later releases.

Brooks' second effort, No Fences (1990), spent 23 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Album chart, selling 17 million copies. The album included his bar anthem "Friends in Low Places" and "The Thunder Rolls."

His third, Ropin' the Wind (1991), raked in a record-breaking four million orders before its release, and became the first album by a country singer to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard pop charts.

His 1998 release, Garth Brooks Double Live , sold over one million copies in its first week of sales, breaking the previous record.

Other hit albums include The Chase (1992), In Pieces (1993), Fresh Horses (1995), Sevens (1997) and Scarecrow (2001).

Brooks's live concerts have also been extremely successful. An August 7, 1997, concert in New York City's Central Park drew an estimated 850,000 to 1.2 million people.

Retirement and Personal Life

Brooks announced at the end of 2000 that he wanted to spend more time with his family, including daughters, Taylor Mayne Pearl (born 1992), August Anna (born 1994), and Allie Colleen (born 1996). He released Scarecrow in 2001, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. It would be his last studio album for over a decade.

Previously married to songwriter Sandy Mahl, Brooks wed fellow country music superstar Trisha Yearwood in December 2005.

Wynn Las Vegas

In 2009, Brooks accepted a three-year stint for a string of performances at the Wynn Las Vegas. The intimate performances given by Brooks — his set only featured Brooks and his guitar, as he shared personal life experiences and the importance of his family— resonated with audiences and proved to be a huge success for the artist. The country star played sold-out shows throughout the entirety of his residency.

For the final show on November 29, 2013, Brooks partnered up with CBS for a live broadcast event. The TV special received 9.33 million viewers and claimed the No. 1 spot in the ratings for the night.

Hall of Fame Honors

New albums and world tour.

In July 2014, Brooks announced an upcoming album and world tour. The singer inked a record contract with Sony Music Nashville for his first studio album since 2001’s Scarecrow . The album, Man Against Machine , came out in November 2014.

In late 2016, Brooks debuted two new projects: His 10th studio album, Gunslinger , as well as a collaboration with his wife on a collection of holiday standards, Christmas Together . Brooks and Yearwood hit the road on the Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood. The tour lasted three and a half years and sold over 6.3 million tickets, making it the biggest North American tour in history.

In November 2019, Brooks was honored with the Entertainer of the Year Award at the CMAs for a record seventh time. That year he also received iHeart Radio’s inaugural Artist of the Decade Award at the iHeart Radio Awards in Los Angeles. It was presented to Garth by Chris Pratt .

Brooks is currently working on his fourteenth studio album, Fun . In March 2019, he hit the road on The Garth Brooks Stadium Tour . For more information on Garth, his upcoming album, tour and more visit garthbrooks.com .

When Do Country Concert Tickets Go On Sale?

Tickets are on sale now for these concerts, so purchase your ticket sooner rather than later before everything is sold out. Many of these tours first went on sale last year.

How Much Are the Best Country Concert Tickets?

Most of these concerts have fairly cheap starting prices, so if you’re looking to spend under three figures, that won’t be a problem for most musicians—except for Garth Brooks and George Strait. The lowest starting price for their shows is $119 and $115, respectively.

As with any ticket purchase, make sure to take into account any fees before you add to your cart. Sometimes, Ticketmaster will use “All-In Pricing,” which shows the amount of the ticket and fees upfront, so you’re not hit with any surprises after purchasing. Other platforms may not do this, so double-check before you purchase anything.

What Do You Wear To A Country Concert?

The most important part of any attire is to make sure you feel 100% comfortable. If you want to rock cowboy boots and skirts or jeans, go for it! But, there is no “right” way to dress for a specific concert. Just don’t forget to wear sunscreen if you’re going to a summertime show and the venue is outdoors.

The Five: Top DP World Tour grads succeeding on the PGA TOUR

Need to Know

Change Text Size

The Genesis Scottish Open field will feature names much of the American golfing public may not be familiar with. They'd be smart to start learning. The field includes 75 DP World Tour members. More than a few will likely be on the PGA TOUR next year.

As part of the Strategic Alliance with the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour, the top 10 players on the final Race to Dubai Rankings who are not already exempt on the PGA TOUR earn TOUR cards for the next year. Players hold status on both tours, giving the best on the DP World Tour access to the TOUR while still maintaining the flexibility to play in Europe. Think Matthieu Pavon and Robert MacIntyre. They were two of the DP World Tour grads from the inaugural year of the pathway, established before last season.

As the summer continues, the next crop of talented Euros will continue to take shape, but as the PGA TOUR heads over for its annual summer stint in the United Kingdom, it's an apt time to take a look back at who is performing best from the 2023 class. As a whole, they've proven successful. Two of the 10 have won on TOUR, three are currently projected into the Playoffs and six are inside the top 125.

Here's a look at the five top performers.

Matthieu Pavon

The frontrunner for Rookie of the Year is also the top-performing European from last year's DP World Tour top-10. And he very nearly didn't earn a TOUR card at all.

A veteran DP World Tour member, Pavon was ready to return there full-time in 2024. If not for four straight birdies to close his final round of the DP World Tour Championship, he would have. But the Frenchman found red numbers in droves, holing birdie putts of 11, 16 and 13 feet and then tapping in a two-footer on the 18th to cap his miraculous run up the leaderboard. It earned him a T5 finish and, more importantly, moved him inside the top 10 in the last week of the Race to Dubai Rankings – PGA TOUR Eligibility ranking to secure a TOUR card.

Matthieu Pavon wins 2024 Farmers Insurance Open

Pavon was a late bloomer on the DP World Tour, winning his first event in his 185th start. He needed just three starts to earn his first PGA TOUR victory, outlasting fellow Europeans Thomas Detry and Stephen Jaeger to win the Farmers Insurance Open. A week later he jumped to No. 1 in the FedExCup standings with a solo third at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He finished T12 at the Masters and fifth at the U.S. Open, further illustrating his mettle.

Robert MacIntyre

It's been an up-and-down year for MacIntyre and his acclimation to TOUR life. He eloquently spoke about his struggles adjusting to living and playing the majority of his golf in America in an interview with Bunkered in May. It was both off-course and on-course. The courses are different, the grasses are different and, most notably, the people and culture are different.

"It's just basic stuff to be honest with you that you take for granted back home in Europe. It's just simple things. Sitting in player dining, you do it in Europe and you've got all the Scottish boys, you've got all the British boys. A lot of the European guys, if you're sitting on you're own, they will come and join you," MacIntyre said. "Out here, because you don't know many folk, you don't know them in that same kind of depth, they don't come to sit with you. It does become a lonely place at the golf side of it."

He carded just one top-30 finish in his first 10 starts but began to find his stride in the spring. He notched three top-15s in a four-event stretch, including a T8 at the PGA Championship. Then he broke through at the RBC Canadian Open, winning his first TOUR event in an emotional scene with his father carrying his bag.

Robert MacIntyre wins RBC Canadian Open

MacIntyre is 39th in the FedExCup, well on his way to playing the FedExCup Playoffs in his first season on TOUR, and in position to earn exemptions into all of next year's Signature Events.

Victor Perez

Perez was one of the most experienced Europeans to earn dual membership last fall and that veteran acumen has been on display. After a rough start to the season, Perez has stabilized and is playing some of his best golf at the best time.

Perez finished a season-best third at the RBC Canadian Open, which was enough to earn exemptions in the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday and Travelers Championship via the Aon Swing 5. He finished T12 at the Memorial and T44 at the Travelers, earning enough FedExCup points to slip into the coveted top 70. The top 70 players following the Wyndham Championship will make the FedExCup Playoffs.

Victor Perez sinks a 40-foot eagle putt at the Memorial

This week's Genesis Scottish Open is a bit of a homecoming for Perez. He's not Scottish, but he lived in Scotland for six years before relocating to Nassau, Bahamas, and the Albany Club for this TOUR season. The first-year member had lived in Scotland full-time (first in Dundee, then Edinburgh) since 2017 and was based at The Renaissance Club, home of the Genesis Scottish Open.

Sami Valimaki

A former DP World Tour Rookie of the Year, Valimaki has work left to do to earn the same title on the PGA TOUR this season. At 86th in the FedExCup, he's well behind Pavon and Knapp. Still, he's in a solid position to keep his TOUR card.

Sami Valimaki buries a 53-foot birdie putt at RBC Canadian

Valimaki earned a bulk of his points with a solo second at the Mexico Open at Vidanta in March. The Finn has struggled to replicate that form with much consistency. His T12 at the John Deere Classic was encouraging, but, along with the Mexico Open, it's the only two times Valimaki has finished inside the top 30 of an event.

Ryo Hisatsune

Count Hisatsune, 21, among the up-and-coming young players who are quickly establishing themselves on the TOUR. Hisatsune hasn't notched the top results like some of his peers, but his consistency has put him firmly in a position to keep his card for another year.

Hisatsune, one of just two Japanese players with full status TOUR this year, has four top 20s this season and amassed nearly $1 million in earnings. He's currently 97th in the FedExCup. Hisatsune's T11 at The American Express in January remains his best result.

Ryo Hisatsune sinks a 51-foot birdie putt at THE CJ CUP

The youngest player in the DP World Tour top 10 from a year ago, the 21-year-old Hisatsune's rise was rather remarkable. He became the first Japanese golfer to win in Continental Europe in 40 years with his maiden DP World Tour victory during his rookie season at the 2023 Cazoo Open de France.

Garth Brooks World Tour: See Photos From Opening Night

By Stephen L. Betts

Stephen L. Betts

Garth Brooks  made his triumphant return to the concert stage in Chicago Thursday (September 4th), treating fans at Allstate Arena to a 24-song set which included old favorites ("Papa Loved Mama," "The River"), new tunes from the country icon's upcoming album ("Man Against the Machine," "People Loving People"), and a solo performance from his wife, Trisha Yearwood. The couple also performed together, and while it may have been Brooks' big comeback, his better half got top-billing on the concert t-shirts, which read "Trisha Yearwood World Tour," with the words "…with Garth Brooks" in much smaller type.

Well-Oiled ‘Machine’

Garth Brooks tour

Long reluctant to release his music digitally, it's appropriate that the first song Garth performed on returning to the concert stage in Chicago was the new track, "Man Against the Machine." This week, Garth finally announced plans to enter the digital marketplace by offering his catalog of albums through the just-launched online music service GhostTunes .

Cry Me a ‘River’

Garth's emotions appeared to get the better of him during "The River" and "Unanswered Prayers." He was visibly moved by the crowd reaction as he let the audience sing those songs back to him.

Gaga for Garth

One of the fans in attendance for Brooks' two-hour show was Lady Gaga, accompanied by her boyfriend, Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney. The pop superstar posted  an Instagram photo of herself with Kinney, who was singing "Friends in Low Places" in her ear.

Callin’ Chicago

Other hits Brooks delivered on the tour's opening night: "Two of a Kind (Workin' on a Full House)," "Ain't Goin' Down ('Til the Sun Comes Up") and "Callin' Baton Rouge," which was on the country charts 20 years ago this month.

Age Is Just a Number

Garth Brooks tour

Brooks joked that in the "318" years since last playing Chicago, he's aged a bit. "I'm really 107 years old," he said. "I can't sing like this for 11 nights straight." He also teased that it should be called the "official Wheelchair and Walker tour."

Friends in Low Expectations

Garth Brooks tour

Opening-night jitters? Before taking the stage for the first of 11 shows in Chicago, Brooks was quoted as saying, "The crowd is very sweet here. Hopefully they'll be very forgiving because tonight's show is gonna suck. You want this to be the worst show of the tour. You want them to get better every night."

Atomic Garth

With no backdrop obscuring the view, audience members saw what looked like a giant atom onstage, rising and rotating during the show's encore, which include Brooks' cover of Aerosmith's "The Fever" and an acoustic rendition of Yearwood's "Walkaway Joe."

Illinois Royalty

Brooks and Yearwood played multiple shows in Chicago during their 1997-98 tour, as well. But this time, they were treated to a special honor as Illinois Governor Pat Quinn declared September 5th Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood Day in the state.

Garth Brooks, Lainey Wilson to play Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff show

N EW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Country music superstar Garth Brooks will headline the first ever Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff show in the Caesar’s Superdome on Sept. 2.

Brooks will share the stage with Louisiana native Lainey Wilson and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

Tickets go on sale July 21, starting at just under $100.

Proceeds from the event will go toward assisting the Allstate Sugar Bowl in its support of numerous community programs, including the New Orleans Teacher Collective. Funds will also go toward the aid of scholarship programs and youth events the Bowl supports annually.

“What an opportunity for me,” Brooks said at the announcement ceremony on Wed., July 12. “The best thing about playing the Superdome is the state it’s in. Playing in Louisiana is always special. It’s gonna be nuts. What an honor for me.”

The last time Brooks played “Callin’ Baton Rouge” in Baton Rouge, was in April of last year. The roar of over 102,000 fans singing along registered on LSU’s seismographs.

The Sugar Bowl Committee hopes the Country Kickoff can become an annual event. Festivities also include “Tailgate Town,” where organizers will take over Champions Square and turn it into a football-themed interactive experience.

The semi-final college football game will take place on Jan. 1.

“As the College Football Playoff looks to expand a year from now, we find ourselves in an increasingly competitive environment,” said Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley. “This has caused us to look at everything with a fresh set of eyes and to look at creative ways to drive revenue in order to remain competitive with larger cities in possession of much larger corporate bases. The Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff provides us with just such an opportunity while allowing us to continue to do good things for our city and state.”

“We are excited to have not just Garth Brooks in the Superdome, but also our very own Louisiana Music Ambassador and Louisiana native Lainey Wilson,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “She rocked the world with us on our float in the Rose Parade and we know she will get the crowd rocking to welcome Garth to the stage in New Orleans. This lineup has all the makings of a great Louisiana Saturday night.”

A native of the small northern Louisiana town of Baskin, Wilson is a rising star in her own right.

In 2021, her single “Things a Man Oughta Know” hit No. 1 on the charts. She was most recently honored at the Academy of Country Music Awards as Female Artist of the Year and her album “Bell Bottom Country” won Album of the Year.

McCarthy’s Revenge Tour Rolls On, With Mixed Results

The former speaker has spent much of his time, energy and money since leaving Congress in a bid to defeat the Republicans who cost him his gavel — and his political career.

During the awkward interlude after he was ousted from the speakership but before he resigned from Congress, Kevin McCarthy found himself standing on the House floor one afternoon next to Representative Bob Good of Virginia, one of the eight Republicans who had voted to remove him from power.

“I just traveled to your district,” Mr. McCarthy, still raw over his political downfall, said in what was interpreted as a vaguely threatening tone. “It’s a really nice district.”

“Why don’t you come down and spend money there?” Mr. Good, the chairman of the hard-right House Freedom Caucus, taunted Mr. McCarthy in response.

“Oh, I’m going to,” Mr. McCarthy shot back. “I might spend $5 million there, too.”

In this instance, Mr. McCarthy was as good as his word.

In the months that followed, he helped direct more than $6 million into the race to defeat Mr. Good, who is now fighting to hang on to his seat after coming up 375 votes short in his recent primary against a Trump-backed challenger, John J. McGuire. (Mr. Good’s campaign is paying for a recount, and he is claiming there was “inappropriate activity” at ballot drop boxes in Lynchburg, the district’s biggest city.)

Mr. McCarthy’s campaign to bring down Mr. Good was just one part of an elaborate and expensive campaign of revenge he has mounted since leaving Congress, one designed to ruin the Republicans he holds responsible for his demise.

“Bob Good was defeated, but the loser just can’t accept it yet,” said Brian O. Walsh, a top McCarthy ally who is coordinating the former speaker’s efforts to unseat the so-called “Crazy Eight” Republicans who crossed him.

Representative Kevin McCarthy speaking to Representative Matt Gaetz. Other members of Congress are standing around them.

Mr. McCarthy declined to comment for this story, but Mr. Walsh made it clear that the former speaker was bent on retribution and doing little to hide it. “We said there would be consequences,” Mr. Walsh said, “and we are persistent and very patient.”

Mr. McCarthy spent more than $4 million in an unsuccessful bid to defeat Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina in her primary last month, and his allies are now promoting ethics allegations against her in hopes of making her unelectable in the future. He and his allies are backing a challenger to Representative Eli Crane of Arizona, the sole first-term Republican who voted to remove Mr. McCarthy, who faces a primary in August. And Mr. McCarthy is going after Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida, his chief tormentor and the ringleader of the push to depose him, pushing accusations that Mr. Gaetz had sex with an underage girl.

Representative Matt Rosendale of Montana, another of the Republicans who voted to oust the former speaker, abruptly dropped his re-election bid in March after rampant rumors circulated that he had an affair with a staff member. Mr. Walsh declined to comment on whether Mr. McCarthy and those in his orbit had anything to do with that decision. But Mr. Rosendale’s decision saved them millions of dollars.

It is all a new role for a man best known as a happy-go-lucky political operator, a consummate team player and a prodigious fund-raiser, whose paid speeches since leaving Congress include one titled “The Happy Warrior Leadership Mindset.” Now, bent on settling his own political scores, Mr. McCarthy has been inserting himself into a high-stakes election cycle in which Republicans are pressing to win control of the White House and both chambers of Congress.

In addition to pouring millions of dollars into the race against Mr. Good, Mr. McCarthy urged former President Donald J. Trump to endorse Mr. McGuire, a right-wing election denier who had few policy differences with the incumbent. He tried, but failed, to get Gov. Glenn Youngkin of Virginia to weigh in against Mr. Good. Still, he and his allies are happy with their results, even though Mr. McGuire did not score a decisive victory.

The tight race was in some ways more gratifying than a clear win, they said, in that the situation is making Mr. Good lose both his race and his mind.

More targets lie ahead, including Mr. Crane, who said in an interview that he had been anticipating as much.

“You make your bed, you sleep in it,” said Mr. Crane, who insisted he was not worried about the primary challenge against him, in large part because his Republican rival is named Jack Smith, the same name as the special counsel prosecuting Mr. Trump.

“That doesn’t exactly play well anywhere in the country in a Republican primary,” Mr. Crane said. “I won’t be surprised if the swamp gets me one day. Maybe it will be next cycle. But I just remind myself it’s OK. I came here to shake things up.”

Last Saturday, Mr. Walsh’s group released a television ad attacking Mr. Gaetz ahead of his August primary against a little-known challenger, Aaron Dimmock, a retired Navy officer and aviator. The ad focuses on Mr. Gaetz’s close friendship with Joel Greenberg, the Florida tax collector who was sentenced to 11 years in prison for trafficking a 17-year-old girl and an array of other crimes.

In his public speeches, Mr. McCarthy often focuses on Mr. Gaetz, claiming that the only reason he was removed from the speakership was that the Florida congressman “wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17-year-old.” Mr. Gaetz has denied those claims, and the Justice Department investigated them and declined to charge him . But Mr. McCarthy and his allies have quietly sought to fuel a separate inquiry into the matter by the House Ethics Committee.

McCarthy’s former aides and friends have gently encouraged him to stop sounding so bitter and preoccupied with Mr. Gaetz. But Mr. McCarthy is committed to the bit, telling people he wants to define Mr. Gaetz in public and prevent him from ever becoming electable statewide, even if it will be almost impossible to beat him in a congressional primary.

Sarah Chamberlain, president of the establishment Republican Main Street Partnership, said Mr. McCarthy was within his rights to play in any primary he fancied.

“He raises the money; he can do with it what he likes,” said Ms. Chamberlain, whose group backed Mr. McGuire even though he is much further to the right than the mainstream candidates it usually supports. “He was the first speaker to be ousted in a way that probably wasn’t very fair to him, and it’s his prerogative to handle it any way he likes.”

Once by far the biggest fund-raiser among House Republicans, Mr. McCarthy is not solely bent on revenge. He is still helping raise money for the Congressional Leadership Fund, an outside group that supports vulnerable House Republicans. And he is still personally making the rounds for members he likes. (A spokeswoman for the Congressional Leadership Fund could not provide a figure for how much Mr. McCarthy has raised for the group since leaving office.)

He recently headlined a fund-raiser in Omaha for Representative Don Bacon, who represents a district President Biden won by six points in 2020, and a Los Angeles fund-raiser for Representative Max Miller of Ohio. Mr. McCarthy still prides himself on being the top donor to the National Republican Campaign Committee, even after being out of office for nine months.

Still, what has animated him most is the prospect of accountability for those he believes acted wrongly toward him. The mixed results of Mr. McCarthy’s revenge tour so far demonstrate how hard it is to unseat incumbents who have made moves to appeal to the party’s hard-right base.

Two of the Republicans who voted to oust him, Representatives Tim Burchett of Tennessee and Andy Biggs of Arizona, do not have primary challengers. A third, Representative Ken Buck of Colorado, left Congress of his own accord earlier this year.

Others have proved more difficult to vanquish. Ms. Mace handily won her primary by 27 points, and many voters in her district said her vote to oust Mr. McCarthy was the very thing that won them over.

Lynn Fontaine, the southern regional director of the Beaufort County Republican Party, said that most of her friends and neighbors in Hilton Head could not stand Ms. Mace because she had criticized Mr. Trump after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, but that “Mace’s vote against McCarthy was a redeeming moment for her.”

Stephen K. Bannon, who used his “War Room” podcast to press for Mr. McCarthy’s removal and campaigned for Mr. Good, called Mr. McCarthy a “spent force" in Republican politics.

“He’s as toxic with the Republican base of voters as Nancy Pelosi,” Mr. Bannon said.

Mr. Crane said the money being spent to defeat him could be spent in more productive ways.

“Look at the bigger picture: What could that money have done to help, and not participate in a revenge tour?” he said.
