This modern hotel sits on the waterfront right next to the Liverpool Cruise Terminal and looking down the Mersey towards the Liver Building. Indeed, it packs a lot of character into a relatively small space, with murals of the Liverpool textile trade throughout, plus a giant collage of Liverpool icons. The distinctive, coloured façade is a reference to the building’s historical involvement in the cotton trade. This Beatles-themed hotel, located just round the corner from the Cavern Club and walking distance to the Beatles Story attraction, plays up its adoration for the Fab Four with its pop-art decor and selfie-inspiring design. Of the 110 rooms, including two suites, the Lennon Suite takes star billing with its rooftop views, lounge area and statement white piano, which might inspire a rendition of Imagine . There’s no spa or pool but Blakes Restaurant serves modern British food and Sgt. Pepper’s Afternoon Tea. This small but perfectly formed boutique property near Duke Street Food and Drink Market has 14 dinky rooms set within a grade II listed Georgian townhouse. It’s handy for all the city-centre attractions yet offers a stylish sanctuary. The contemporary rooms have floral designs and velvet headboards, while some also feature drinks trolleys. Upgrading to the “spacious” category ensures a king-sized sleep. There’s a buzzy, exposed-brick cocktail bar and the kitchen serves a daily brunch menu by day, pizza and pasta by night, as well as local beers.

This converted warehouse in the Ropewalks district is handily situated to enjoy Liverpool’s ebullient nightlife — but it also offers a calm oasis (with handy triple glazing) and style on a budget. Architecture of the hotel is amazing, lots of original features which make the hotel exceptional. Rooms were huge, very comfortable.

So close to the Philharmonic Hall which we were attending for a concert Sparkling from the chandeliers to the crisp cotton sheets and jacuzzi spa bath, this boutique hotel and its wonderful friendly staff make it an excellent stay.

Manchester United star Casemiro admits he often struggles to sleep due to constantly thinking about how far his side are behind Liverpool , Arsenal and Manchester City .

The Red Devils held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday , denting the Reds’ title hopes and barely helping United’s slim chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League table, on 71 points alongside Arsenal. City trail both by a single point on 70.

United, though, are some 22 points behind the leaders in sixth place.

Erik ten Hag’s side have lost 12 out of their 31 Premier League matches this term, and have a goal difference of -1.

United will likely need to win their remaining seven matches to have a chance of finishing in the top five, and even then it may not be enough.

And Casemiro admits he has sleepless nights thinking about how far his side are behind the leaders.

‘It’s difficult. This is the point that bothers me most about not fighting for titles,” Casemiro told ESPN Brazil.

‘Being 20 points behind first place. Sometimes, I can’t even sleep to try to think about doing something different. It’s reality. There’s no point in thinking about title or Champions League places, we need to think about today’s games.”

‘We need to think about the day to day, we had the opportunity to score nine points in the last few games and we scored two. We were upset. We have to think game by game and focus on the next match, against Bournemouth.’

United travel to Bournemouth next Saturday, where only a win will do to keep their top five hopes alive.

Scott McTominay is expected to miss out, having failed a late fitness test for the draw against Liverpool.

Ten Hag hopes to have Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans back.
