When Tom Cruise emerged in Hollywood in the '80s , he quickly became not only one of the industry's most prominent leading men but also one of the decade's most recognizable sex symbols. Apparently, Cruise took that status very seriously. Even before breaking through with 1983's "Risky Business," Cruise had always been rather conscious of how he looked in front of the camera, his old agent Eileen Berlin told the Daily Mail in February 2022. "Tommy had many faces — you see it in the photos," the retired executive said.

According to Berlin, with whom Cruise lived when he was starting out at 18, Cruise relentlessly prepared before photo sessions, in an effort to emphasize what he considered to be his strongest features. "We had a mirrored wall and he'd walk around in his little jockey shorts and nothing else and ball up his fists and flex his biceps and admire himself in the mirror," she described. While he knew he was handsome, Cruise was self-conscious about his height . "He said he would like some shoes that would lift him up a bit," she said.

Tom Cruise's looks drew unwanted public attention in October 2021 when he attended a baseball game, Page Six reported. The "Mission Impossible" star's face looked swollen, leading many to wonder whether Cruise had had cosmetics procedures done or gained weight. Social media users took to Twitter to mock his appearance, drawing comparisons to Norm MacDonald, who had recently died . "Norm macdonald being reincarnated into tom cruise is one of his best bits ever," one wrote .

However, many others defended Cruise while criticizing the normalization of online body-shaming. "I had hoped people learnt to not comment on men's bodies after mocking Zac Efron for gaining weight and supposedly being 'ugly,' despite knowing his history of eating disorders, addiction and body image struggles," one user tweeted . "Leave Tom Cruise and his face alone. People are allowed to change."

But because Cruise had been spotted over the summer with his so-called normal face and it seemingly returned to what fans were used to shortly after, experts hypothesized the swelling could've been caused by cosmetics treatments. "Tom definitely looks swollen and puffy, which could be due to filler, post procedure swelling or weight gain," a practitioner told The U.S. Sun . Some social media users had an issue with this type of coverage, which seemed to disregard the possibility Cruise's swelling could be due to medical reasons. "He looks like he's on prednisone to me," a Twitter user pointed out, referring to the commonly prescribed corticosteroid.

This is actually something that happens when people are missing their teeth. The surrounding teeth shift into the space left behind, which can make them misaligned and crooked.

There are also some other stories about Tom Cruise’s teeth. One involves the former editor-in-chief of The New York Post, Col Allan. Apparently, Tom Cruise’s front teeth fell out when he was having drinks with the journalist. 

Allan recounts being “speechless” because of the incident.

At that time, Cruise told Allan that he had lost his teeth after one of his children’s heels struck them while he was playing with them. While the actor had reportedly “pleaded” that the information not be made public, that, unfortunately, is not the case anymore.  

How Did Tom Cruise Fix His Teeth?

It is believed that the Mission Impossible star had crowns on his teeth. However, it is possible for people to get both crowns and veneers at the same time.

What will suit them better will depend on the condition of their teeth, their location and the severity of their problem. But veneers can also effectively hide the teeth, although it only covers their front surface.

Foi justamente isso o que aconteceu há pelo menos dez anos quando o artista ficou desdentado e implorou para que a história se mantivesse em segredo. Quem contou esse episódio foi Col Allan, ex-editor do New York Post , o próprio jornalista que estava com Cruise e descobriu isso, como conta o site OK!. Cruise quis marcar um jantar com Allan para pedir que ele e seu site, o Page Six, pegassem mais leve com relação às notícias que surgiam sobre ele e sua família. Na ocasião, o astro ainda era casado Katie Holmes, com quem ficou de 2006 a 2012.

"Estávamos bebendo e conversando e quando vi, ambos os dentes da frente caíram sobre a toalha de mesa bem na minha frente", diz Col Allan. "Este era um rosto que estava em cartazes em todo o mundo, um cara bonitão e lá estão seus dentes da frente [caídos]", emendou.

Recentemente, uma família inglesa recebeu em casa a visita inesperada de um astro de Hollywood: Tom Cruise. E ainda ganhou um passeio no helicóptero do ator. Preocupado com a privacidade em Nova York, nos Estados Unidos, Tom Cruise marcou um jantar com um jornalista para tentar controlar as notícias que saiam sobre sua vida. Entretanto, o astro acabou perdendo dois dentes durante a conversa e precisou implorar para não ter o fato revelado - porém, agora, a história veio à tona.

Em entrevista ao site "OK!", o jornalista Col Allan, ex-editor-chefe do 'The New York Post', revelou toda a história constrangedora vivida ao lado do astro de "Missão: Impossível" para um episódio da série documental "Gossip".

Cruise tinha acabado de se mudar para Nova York com a ex-mulher, Katie Holmes, e os filhos e decidiu procurar o jornalista na intenção de tentar ter controle das notícias sobre sua vida.

"Eles compraram uma casa no Village, queriam um pouco de privacidade e estavam preocupados com o [site] 'Page Six'. Então, Tom queria tomar uma bebida comigo e falar sobre suas expectativas", contou Allan. O 'Page Six' é um site de fofocas norte-americano do grupo do 'The New York Post'.

Col Allan ainda lembrou que o ator pediu uma garrafa de vinho para acompanhar a conversa e ficou sem reação ao notar que os dois dentes da frente do astro foram parar na mesa.

Estávamos bebendo e conversando, e aí, quando vi, ambos os dentes da frente caíram sobre a toalha de mesa bem na minha frente... Quer dizer, este é um rosto que está em cartazes em todo o mundo, um cara bonitão, e lá estão seus dentes da frente [caídos].

Cruise, então, contou que acabou quebrando os dentes em razão de um chute recebido durante uma brincadeira com os filhos Isabella e Connor, do casamento com Nicole Kidman.

"Foi um momento desconfortável", detalhou o jornalista, que ainda contou que o ator ficou olhando em sua volta para ver se ninguém havia notado o incidente.

No fim, o ator implorou para que a história de seus dentes não fosse publicada e o jornalista decidiu guardar o fato apenas na memória. Ele, porém, relatou o caso, hoje, como momento curioso já vivido com um artista.

"Então, você sabe, essa história nunca foi publicada até que eu acabei de te dizer agora", finaliza o ex-editor-chefe do 'The New York Post'.

Tom Cruise não tinha nem 20 anos quando ganhou seu primeiro crédito no cinema com 'Amor Sem Fim' (1981). Então, foi pavimentando seu caminho à "lista A" de Hollywood em filmes como 'Vidas Sem Rumo' (1983), 'Negócio Arriscado' (1983) e 'A Lenda' (1985) – até que se firmou no estrelato de vez com 'Top Gun: Ases Indomáveis' (1986). Certamente é por esse status de galã e herói das telonas que o artista surpreendeu tanto a internet ao aparecer com o rosto inchado na arquibancada de um jogo de beisebol nos Estados Unidos nesta semana. “Sou o único que pensa que este não é Tom Cruise, mas apenas um cara qualquer que se parece com ele?”, brincou o âncora da TV americana Elex Michaelson no Twitter .

Com a repercussão das imagens, o jornal The Sun chegou a procurar uma cirurgiã plástica para avaliar a mudança no visual do astro. "Acredito que ele colocou preenchimento embaixo dos olhos e ao redor da boca e do nariz no passado, mas desta vez é diferente. Uma vista lateral dele mostra que seu pescoço também está bastante inchado. O preenchimento não seria colocado nesta área, o que significa que seria um inchaço ou ganho de peso", opinou a doutora Alice Henshaw. Até o momento, o próprio ator não falou sobre a sua aparência – e nem sobre os comentários a respeito dela.

O fato é que todos nós mudamos, e com Cruise não poderia ser diferente. Segundo Col Allan, antigo editor-chefe do ‘New York Post’, citado pela ‘OK Magazine’, durante um encontro com o ator norte-americano, ele terá deixado cair em cima da toalha de mesa... os dentes da frente. O jornalista admite ter pensado: "É uma cara que está em cartazes pelo mundo fora, um galã, e estão os dentes da frente aqui caídos à minha frente."

Tom Cruise: All New Movies Coming Out in 2023 and 2024

After his breakthrough with leading roles in ‘Risky Business’ and ‘ Top Gun ‘ in the 1980s, Thomas “Tom” Cruise Mapother IV started bagging pivotal roles in several dramas, including ‘ Born on the Fourth of July ,’ for which he even won a Golden Globe Award and got nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. In the 1990s, he rose to newer heights of stardom by featuring in various commercially successful films, such as ‘ A Few Good Men ,’ ‘ Interview with the Vampire ,’ ‘The Firm,’ and ‘ Jerry Maguire .’

Once he impacted dramas, he started traversing the action and sci-fi genres. By landing some iconic roles in the ‘ Mission: Impossible ‘ film series, ‘ Collateral ,’ ‘ Edge of Tomorrow ,’ and ‘ Top Gun: Maverick ,’ he established himself as an action star, performing most of the risky stunts on his own. The winner of three Golden Globe Awards, four nominations for the Oscars, and an Honorary Palme d’Or, Tom Cruise is known to be one of the world’s highest-paid actors. 1. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two (2024)

Tom Cruise recently jumped off a cliff on a motorbike for ‘ Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One ‘ and he will be in action soon enough in its sequel, ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.’ Helmed by Christopher McQuarrie, the spy action movie is the eighth installment in the ‘Mission: Impossible’ film series with Cruise reprising his role as Ethan Hunt for the eighth time running.

Although the plot details are kept under wraps, the action-adventure film is most likely to resume Ethan’s hunt for The Entity as he meets some new friends and foes along the way. The production for the sequel began in March 2022 but is yet to be finished due to the delay caused by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Having gone through several postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic when it comes to its release date, it is now officially set to be released on June 28, 2024. But it is very much possible that it will get postponed again due to the pause in production.

2. Untitled Tom Cruise/SpaceX Project (TBA)

Tom Cruise is set to take his status as an action star to the next level by traveling out of Earth to film the first ever Hollywood motion picture in outer space. In May 2020, it was reported that Elon Musk’s Space X and Cruise were working on an action-adventure project with NASA. Not only is Cruise expected to be blasted into space alongside filmmaker Doug Liman, with whom he has previously worked in ‘ American Made ‘ and ‘Edge of Tomorrow,’ for the upcoming film, but he will also live up to his reputation by attempting to do a space walk outside of the International Space Station. In this movie, Cruise is set to essay the role of a down-on-his-luck man who is the sole person in the position to save Earth. Apart from starring in the film, he is attached to the project as a writer as well as a producer.

3. Live Die Repeat and Repeat (TBA)

A sequel to the 2014 movie ‘Edge of Tomorrow,’ ‘Live Die Repeat and Repeat’ is an upcoming science fiction film that will reportedly reunite Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman, with the former set to reprise his role as Major William Cage. Moreover, Emily Blunt is also rumored to portray Rita again, alongside Cruise. Ever since the release of the hit original film, talks of a sequel have been flying around. However, in 2019, it was finally set in motion when Matthew Robinson was brought on to write the script.

Fast forward to a couple of years later, in a May 2021 interview with Entertainment Weekly , Emily Blunt revealed, “That was an amazing script, but I just don’t know what the future holds for it. I did read a script that was in really great shape, but it’s just a matter of if that can even happen now. I don’t have the straight answer on that one.” With the project still lingering in the development stage, it is hard to expect it to be brought to life in at least a couple of years.
