Bluemont Vineyard - one of the best Leesburg, Virginia wineries

One of the top features of the winery is that it sits high on top of a hill with beautiful expansive views of the surrounding countryside.

Bluemont Vineyard offers a number of food items, such as cheese plates, flatbreads, hummus, desserts, and various other dishes. The current menu can be found here .

Dogs are welcome at the vineyard.

Willowcroft Farm Vineyards is just 17 minutes outside of downtown Leesburg. The vineyard has amazing mountain views to enjoy along with your wine of choice.

The winery offers guided tastings, flights, as well as wine by the glass or bottle.

winery tour leesburg va

One great feature that they offer is wine and truffle pairings, which is perfect if you’re a chocolate lover like me!

Willowcroft has a wide selection of wines available, including Riesling, Chardonnay, Traminette, Rose, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Chambourcin.

You can also book a guided tour to learn about the wine-making process, while getting a behind-the-scenes look at the property, including the historic barn, the original vineyard, and the barrel rooms. The guided tour includes wine tastings as well.

Willowcroft has some food to order, including cheeses, bread, salami, and crackers. You can also bring your own food for an outside picnic.

Pets are allowed outside, and can be brought inside to place your food and drink order, but they’re not allowed to stay indoors (with the exception of service dogs.)

The vineyard can be hard to find. You should use the instructions on their website , rather than GPS to find it.

4. The Barns at Hamilton Station

The Barns at Hamilton Station is just a 9-minute drive from downtown Leesburg. The unique and lovely tasting room is a restored 1910 barn. The property itself was once a dairy farm. As you can tell, a visit to The Barns is filled with special and historic details.

The Barns at Hamilton Station - one of the best Leesburg, Virginia wineries

The wine-making process at The Barns pays tribute to the style of wine-making in Bordeaux, France.

The winery offers self-guided flights of red wines, white wines, or a mix of red and white wines. They also sell some food items, including soft pretzels, and picnic baskets with meats, cheeses, spreads, warm baguettes, or crackers.

The Barns also features live music every Saturday from 2 pm – 5 pm. You can find a schedule of upcoming events online.

Dogs are allowed in the Tasting Room, but not at the Tasting Bar.

5. Fabbioli Cellars

Fabbioli Cellars is an award-winning winery that’s just 11 minutes from downtown Leesburg.

The winery notably focuses on earth-friendly wine-growing techniques. They have a lovely tasting room filled with windows, skylights, and abundant natural light.

Another great feature of Fabbioli Cellars is that their wine tastings include unique and delicious food pairings. Each month has a theme too and features a specific food plate.

Some examples to make your mouth water include a Cultivator wine paired with Medjool Date, Brie, and Balsamic Glaze; and a Raspberry Merlot paired with Madelaine Dark Chocolate.

Dogs are allowed outside but not inside the Tasting Room.

6. Quattro Goombas

Quattro Goombas is a little further outside of Leesburg, but it is still only about 16 minutes outside of town, along Route 15.

The winery also features a brewery and pizza kitchen, so no matter what your tastes are, you’ll find something to love!

Some of the wines that they specialize in include Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Petit Manseng, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay.

For beer lovers, you’ll find a rotating selection of up to 20 craft beers on tap, including American Light Lager, European Pilsner, New England IPA, Belgian Wit, and more.

And nothing goes better with beer than pizza! Quattro Goombas serves hand-made pizza, as well as sandwiches, soft pretzels, salads, burgers, and more.

And you can even order a pizza kit to make your own pizzas at home!

The winery also hosts live music on certain Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. You can find a list of upcoming events online.

Dogs are allowed outside, but not inside.

7. Zephaniah Farm Vineyard

Zephaniah Farm Vineyard is another great winery to check out, and it’s located just a 10-minute drive from downtown Leesburg.

Farm house and rainbow at Zephaniah Farm Vineyards

The property is actually more than just a vineyard: they are a working farm with cattle and sheep. Because of this, they do not allow pets.

The vineyard has a unique 1819 home on the premises that is occasionally opened to the public. Each month, Zephaniah makes an announcement on Facebook and Instagram regarding what days they will allow visitors into the home.

A great bonus of the winery is that they actually offer free delivery of wine if you live within 15 miles of the winery.

Zephaniah is a perfect stop if you want a relaxing and quiet retreat amidst many of the more hectic vineyards in the region.

8. The Vineyards & Winery at Lost Creek

The Vineyards & Winery at Lost Creek is about a 16-minute drive from Leesburg.

The boutique winery specializes in offering a culinary wine experience. Each wine tasting features a food pairing.

Food and wine from The Vineyards & Winery at Lost Creek in Leesburg, Virginia

They offer several kinds of tastings, including a regular wine tasting as well as the Chef’s Tasting and Wine Pairing. The Chef’s Tasting includes four dishes paired with different wines.

For an even more decadent experience, you can also attend one of the Wine Dinners, which includes a tour of the vineyard and a five-course meal with wine pairings for each course.

You can find out about each of these unique experiences online. Reservations are recommended.

The vineyard also serves Sunday Brunch with a delicious menu including Eggs Benedict, Crab Benedict, Shrimp & Grits, and Smoked Trout.

And if you’re in downtown Leesburg, make sure to stop by their intimate wine bar: Echelon Bar.

9. Casanel Vineyards & Winery

Casanel Vineyards & Winery is just an 11-minute drive from Leesburg.

They produce a wide selection of wines to suit every taste, including Norton (a Virginia specialty), Chardonnay, Rose, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.

They also have a bubbly Chardonnay called White Spark and the port-like The Full Nelson, which are perfect for special occasions.

If you’re interested in a behind-the-scenes look at the wine making process, Cassanel also has guided tours available that take you through the vineyards and production facilities.

Cassanel also hosts a number of different events, including live music, as well as unique events like Plant Swap (swap indoor/outdoor plants and gardening books and tools), and Sparkling Flight Weekend (a weekend highlighting flights of their three sparkling wines.)

10. Firefly Cellars

Firefly Cellars is just 7 minutes from Leesburg. The winery features a wood-paneled barn tasting room that is bursting with charm and character.

Inside the wood-paneled tasting room at Firefly Cellars.

Not only can you find a great selection of wines, including Chardonnay, Chambourcin, and Traminette; but they also have some cleverly named light food items, like That’s What Cheese Said (assorted cheeses with prosciutto and salami) and Pass the Bread, Honey (a baguette served with jam, honey, olive oil, and fruit.)

You’ll also find a nice selection of different flights, depending on your interests and mood. You can choose between the typical White Flight and Red Flight, or try the Celebration Flight (which naturally includes a sparkling white!) and a Light Flight.

And if you’re interesting in spending even more time in the heart of Leesburg wine country, you can even book a stay at The Cottage at Firefly Cellars! The charming cottage has beautiful views and even its own hot tub and pool!

11. Bleu Frog Vineyards

Bleu Frog Vineyards is another great wine destination that’s just 12 minutes outside of Leesburg.

House and Vineyard at Bleu Frog Vineyard.

They specialize in some of the most common Virginia wines, including the reds Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, as well as the white Vidal Blanc.

The tasting room is located in a beautiful, wood-paneled room with high ceilings

Along with flights and wine by the glass and bottle, you can also order a frose (a frozen rose), which is one of my favorite summer wine treats!

The winery is both dog-friendly and kid-friendly. There are even numerous play areas for kids, including a sandbox.

12. Eagletree Farm Winery and Restaurant

Eagletree Farm Winery and Restaurant is located a little north of downtown Leesburg. It’s not far from The Vineyards & Winery at Lost Creek, which makes both wineries convenient to visit together.

As you can guess from the name, Eagletree not only produces great wine, but also has a full-service restaurant serving an eclectic menu that includes Filet Mignon, Panna Cotta, Bombay Chicken Curry, and more. This makes it a great destination to celebrate a special occasion.

Please note that pets are not allowed.
