What a wonderful and comprehensive guide to North Georgia’s wine tours! As a wine enthusiast who loves exploring new regions and tastes, I’ve found your post incredibly helpful and informative. The details you’ve provided, from the wineries’ history to their specialities, add a personal touch that makes the prospect of these tours all the more enticing.

Hello, Tony! The wineries of North GA get more popular by the day, and visiting a few on a GA wine tour is a great way to see them safely with your friends. Enjoy!

This is a very informative article, like an all-you-need-to-know guide about tour choices. I have heard that Georgia is one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. My wife and I love to travel, but she especially loves the countryside views. I know Georgia is definitely full of natural views where the grapes are grown. What is your suggestion for a getaway that is full of great viewpoints? We love to take pictures with nature and enjoy the countryside life.

Hello! Believe it or not, most of these areas of North Georgia (USA) are relatively newer producers of wine. Many of the wineries are less than ten years old, and almost all are less than 20 years old. There are plenty of wines with an “old world” taste, though, so it’s easy to understand how the area’s wine history might seem longer than it is!

There are lots of fantastic wineries in North GA, which makes it hard to choose a favorite getaway, but easy to find a bunch of great options! For viewpoints of long-range mountain views, consider visiting any of these destinations on a North Georgia Wine Tour: Terra Incognita, Kaya, Wolf Mountain, Living Water Winery, Ott Farms Winery, Creekstone Winery, Crane Creek Winery, and Fainting Goat.

Alright, alright, alright! I stumbled upon this article about wine tours in North Georgia, and I gotta say, I’m impressed. I never knew that Georgia was producing wines, let alone that they have a whole tour dedicated to it.

First things first, let’s talk about the article itself. Kudos to the author for providing such a detailed guide to wine tours in North Georgia. From the various vineyards and wineries to the different types of tours available, this guide has got it all. It’s clear that the author has done their research and is passionate about wine tours in North Georgia.

As someone who’s never been on a wine tour before, this article really opened my eyes to what I’m missing out on. I mean, who wouldn’t want to spend a day (or two) drinking delicious wine while taking in the stunning scenery of the North Georgia mountains? Sign me up!

But all joking aside, I really do appreciate the author taking the time to write this article. They’ve provided a valuable resource for anyone looking to plan a wine tour in North Georgia. And for those of you who have been on a wine tour before, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the experience. Was it worth it? What was your favorite part?

Overall, I’m really impressed with this article and the information provided. It’s clear that the author has a love for wine and for North Georgia, and they’ve done a great job of sharing that love with their readers. So, thank you to the author for this informative and enjoyable read. I’m definitely adding a wine tour in North Georgia to my bucket list!

Vineyards have already fascinated me since I was asked to work on a project on wine when I was child. Research on vineyards led me to know such beautiful vineyards in Georgia. And your article comes to me at the right time to know about the vineyard tour further.

A private tour of Ellijay Wineries including wind tasting is so much fun I could imagine.

I am definitely going to make it this time!

Thanks for sharing such a comprehensive information.

A Word From

When people travel they grow. They become happier, build self confidence, make new memories and experience new things. I have this incredible passion bringing people together with a new destination and experience and I truly love creating memories.

I have traveled as long as I can remember. I’ve visited 60 countries and have taken hundreds of travelers to Europe over the years. I graduated Georgia State in 1998 and knew I would continue to stay in the travel industry. In 1996 I opened up a full service travel agency near Helen, GA and to this very day I truly enjoy matching up the traveler with the right trip.

In 2013 I met with local businesses and officials to come up with ways to bring the wine industry and the tourism industry together. I decided to take a leap of faith and created a wine tour experience. The ingredients were perfect for me, I was in my hometown, it brought together travelers and locals, it was fun, and it included wine! I created an all-inclusive wine tour, bringing out all the best options from previous travel experiences. Travelers enjoyed beautiful scenery, had fun tour guides, enjoyed unique wineries and made wonderful memories.

The tours grew from one bus to multiple buses in just a few short years. I received an award of Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 by the White County Chamber of Commerce. I continue to work hard with my team to strive for a level of excellency and commitment to our travelers and local community.

After a short time, I also realized that there were so many types of travelers and the standard full day wine tour was simply not one size fits all. We added unique and private tours to the lineup. I also learned that the wine tours really do bring people together, and in one year we doubled our private tour business. Families, friends, co-workers and special event tours. We now have found a way to fill every need on private tours, whether its a tour with a wine expert, chocolate tasting or even zip-lining (we recommend doing this FIRST before drinking wine).

I still am a full time travel consultant, and have clients from all over the world. I also look for new ways to grow the wine tours. I love traveling and am always looking for the next greatest adventure. My favorite trip? An Arctic Expedition around Svalbard, Norway. My favorite wine? Let’s just say, I’ve only met a few I haven’t liked!

Discover The Gems Of North Georgia With Winery Visits

Nearly all of Georgia's wineries are tucked away in the state's gorgeous northern mountain area just one to two hours outside of Atlanta. More than 50 locally owned vineyards and tasting rooms can be found nestled up against the edge of the North Georgia mountains. Our trusted guides know every mile on the way intimately!

During your unique experience with us, you're sure to hear knowledgeable guides and winery owners sharing how Georgia's climate allows for a thriving and varied wine industry! The local climate is ideal for cultivating a variety of wine types. The rich, sun-warmed soil here is actually comparable to the soil that pads Italy's most famous wine regions.

Georgia's thriving wine industry is home to more than 1,000 acres of hilly, painting-like vineyards that can be admired during North Georgia wine tours. Enjoy views of vine-etched rolling hills from a winery porch as you taste a dry white, rosy red, or semi-sweet wine!

The Ultimate Guide to the Best North Georgia Wineries and Wine Tours

WINE down this weekend with a trip to one of North Georgia’s top wineries. We’re breaking down the wineries in North GA and sharing with you the ones with the most scenic sprawling hills, the most delicious charcuterie boards , and of course, the most flavorful wines!

Wolf Mountain Vineyards | Photo: wolfmountainvineyards.com

The North Georgia Wineries With The Most Delicious Restaurants

For food alongside your glass (or glasses) of wine, Wolf Mountain Vineyards in Dahlonega is an excellent choice. They feature lunch daily (reservations required) and offer a spectacular Sunday brunch, offering a gourmet menu that absolutely competes with top Atlanta chefs. And wow, is there a gorgeous view from the top of the mountain!

Crane Creek Vineyards has an excellent on-site dining option with Paris & Company, an independently owned and operated husband and wife team serving up French flavor in the foothills of the North GA mountains. Something fun they do spring through fall is aperitivo Fridays! They also feature a cute-as-a-button Farmhouse Market that’s perfect for gift shopping.

Montaluce Winery & Resort is a bit of Tuscany right in the heart of Dahlonega, with the Italian menu and eats to match. Dine at Trattoria di Montaluce, their onsite, upscale Italian eatery that also has a full cocktail bar a fabulous view of their vineyards view.

Yonah Mountain Vineyards | Facebook/yonahmountainvineyards

The North Georgia Wineries with The Best Views

Tiger Mountain Vineyards is a family-owned winery using Old World methods to craft their wines in the European style. Nestle in at the bottom of their foothills with a glass for a rather gorgeous view of Tiger Mountain. They have events as well, from live music to farmhouse fresh dinners at their Red Barn Cafe that’s open May through November.

It’s all about the breathtaking, panoramic views at Yonah Mountain Vineyards . Unlike other wineries, they don’t offer much food for sale, lodging, or other frills, but they consistently rate as one of the best experiences because of the beautiful scenery. Their vines are also the source of the wine of a quite a few North GA wineries. Something to add to your bucket list is their yearly Crush Fest, an awesome weekend of live music, wine, and grape stomping over Labor Day Weekend.

Three Sisters Vineyards is another winery that’s all about the ambiance. They have lovely views of their vineyards across rolling hills, and lovely white wines in particular. There are food trucks occasionally rolling through as well as live music some nights.

Kaya Vineyard | Photo: Facebook/kayavineyard

The North Georgia Wineries with Lodging

Chateau Elan –technically more in the Northern part of Greater Metro Atlanta than truly in North GA–nevertheless has to make our list when talking wine and luxe weekends away.  This resort is where you want to go for a more high-end weekend away experience that’s still just a short drive from ATL. They grow 30 wines in their various vineyards around Georgia, and the hotel is a beautiful, European inspired resort with sumptuous touches.

Paradise Hills Resort offers a slice of “laid-back luxury” in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They have charming, rustic cabin rentals that are anywhere from one-bedroom to four-bedrooms, and a tasting room featuring their wines that’s open 7 days a week.

Kaya Vineyard , right next to Kaya Mountain , is excellent for a cozy cottage stay and scenic rolling hills. Book a couple’s weekend getaway, girl’s trip, or Bachelorette party . They also offer wonderful picnic basket lunches filled with charcuterie!

Bent Tree Lodge & Vineyard is another place that will be a spot where you can both sip & stay! Currently a cozy bed & breakfast in Jasper, GA, Bent Tree Lodge is opening up onsite Cairn View Winery . Stay tuned!

Dahlonega Resort and Vineyard , right near Kaya Vineyards, is another place where you can stay and make a whole weekend trip out of your wine experience. They have rooms, cottages, and modern cabins so you can have whatever kind of stay you’d like. Folks rave about their restaurant in particular, with breakfast, brunch , and dinner offerings.

My partner and I spent the day with A Grape View Tours and it was a truly magical experience. Our guide was just an all-around great person to spend time with and really knew the area inside and out. The van was clean and comfortable, the scenery was out of this world, and every destination was a treasure. One of our stops was Roo winery (named after a ROOster :D), which I understand had recently opened and was beautiful inside and out. We also stopped at a dairy farm for ice cream and a roadside farmers market. One of my favorite stops was a gentle hike to a waterfall - stunning!! This was not our first wine tour but I have to say it was one of the nicest. It just felt so personal, like we were visiting an old friend who was treating us to all the local flavors and colors. Highly recommended!

Katlin K., GA

We had an absolute blast celebrating my sister this weekend! Huge thank you to @a_grape_view_tours 🎉 thank you for helping make her bachelorette such an amazing and special time! I cannot recommend them enough! Patrick and Cliff are the absolute best! Please, if you are interested in booking a wine tour they are hands down the best around. They have so many options for different wineries and could not have been more accommodating
If you are seeking a fabulous wine tour, look no further - I wish we could give A Grape View ten stars! Cliff & Patrick were so wonderful. Our group of five really enjoyed seeing the best of Ellijay on this tour.

Located just outside of Dahlonega in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains , Cavender Creek Vineyards is a small farm  and North Georgia winery that produces delicious wines.

The winery is known for its drinks, Southern hospitality and, surprisingly enough, donkeys! In 2008, original owners Raymond & Donna Castleberry bought a Sicilian donkey and named him Hotie.

Sadly, Hotie has since passed away. But in 2018 a baby donkey named Elliot was brought to the North Georgia vineyards. So if you make a visit, be sure to say hello!

Some of the vineyard’s most popular wines include Petit Manseng, Cabernet Fran, Cabernet Sauvignon, and several Norton blends (including Blackjack and fan favorite Donkey Hotie).

They also keep varietals like Viognier, Sauvignon Blan, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc on the menu.

The tasting room is open seven days a week. Wine tastings are offered as well as wine by the glass and bottle.

They’ve also got all sorts of other drinks, including wine slushies, sangrias, cocktails, mocktails, craft beer , and soft drinks.

We encourage anyone who loves the Blue Ridge region to learn about the  Leave No Trace   principles of responsible environmental stewardship.

Stay on marked trails, take only pictures, pack out your trash, and be considerate of others who share the trails and parks you explore.

Remember that waterfalls and rocky summits can be dangerous. Never try to climb waterfalls or get close to a ledge to get a selfie.

When you're exploring the wilderness, it's better to be safe than to be a statistic!
