About us.
George M. Korin DVM, founder of NYC VET HOUSECALLS, began providing home veterinary services to Manhattan residents in 1990. After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in Canada, Dr. Korin arrived in the New York City area in 1985 and for 5 years he worked for various area hospitals.
Eager to establish his own veterinary practice, Dr. Korin wanted to provide a more personalized and compassionate service than a standard veterinary clinic could provide.
NYC Vet House-Calls offers complete out-patient care in your home. Generally speaking, whatever can be done in a hospital exam room can be managed in the comfort of your home.
This includes a complete physical exam: examining the skin, coat and paws, checking the eyes with an ophthalmoscope, the ears with an otoscope, examining the oral cavity and teeth...

MOBILE VETERINARY SERVICES
In-home Wellness & Mobile Veterinary Care
Our mobile vet team brings high-quality, compassionate veterinary care to you, keeping your pets healthy in the comfort and convenience of your home.
Wellness Care
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of semi-annual physical examinations (every 6 months) and age appropriate wellness testing with a veterinarian. Thorough check-ups and preventative care can help alleviate serious health problems. Wellness testing includes bloodwork, fecal exams, and urinalysis to catch issues before they become a problem for your pet. Preventing disease and early disease recognition will add quality and years to your pet’s life. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best.
More about Wellness Care
Semi-annual physical examinations.
These are extremely important to your pet’s good health. We pride ourselves on looking at your pet as an individual and then discuss medical treatment, health maintenance and lifestyle with you about what is best for the pet and your family. A full exam is done at every visit, and this includes an assessment of your pet’s eyes, ears, mouth and skin, as well as an evaluation which includes the following body systems: cardiac, respiratory, abdominal, urogenital, and lymphatic.
Wellness and Preventative Care Plans
We evaluate pets as the individuals they are. Each pet’s care plan is developed carefully after evaluating the pet’s history, lifestyle and risk factors. A pet care plan will typically include nutrition, customized vaccine protocols or titer testing, wellness testing, and behavior counseling, among other topics. We look comprehensively at the factors that go into your pet’s health and invite your questions and concerns.
Customized Vaccination Protocols
We believe less is more. Vaccines are necessary to prevent disease. However, vaccines can also cause problems for your pet’s immune system if not managed in conjunction with overall health. Once yearly, we will assess your pet’s risk factors and determine if your pet needs vaccines, and if so, which ones are necessary. It is important for you to have a clear understanding of which vaccines are offered, what your pet is at risk for, and the relative risk-to-benefit ratio of giving the vaccines to the long-term health of your companion.
Titer Testing
Titer testing is available and helps assess the need of the pet for a vaccine. In a titer test, a blood sample is tested to see if the pet has an appropriate antibody level against the disease in question. If the antibody level is adequate, we can rely on the pet’s immune system to combat the disease and skip the vaccine at that time.
Wellness Testing
Wellness testing includes blood work, fecal analysis, and urinalysis. Wellness testing gives individual baseline data that we can use later as a reference for faster, more accurate diagnosis and treatment, as well as serving as a detector of early disease. Depending on the age and health of your pet, we can recommend which wellness profile is best suited.
Individualized Flea and Tick Programs
During in-home appointments, we can create an individualized treatment program with you to help keep your pet protected from fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and other potentially disease-bearing pests. Because many of these pests are now adapting to warming climates in our service areas, they are a year-round concern requiring a year-round plan. Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis are just a few of the very serious diseases that can be prevented through treatment programs. We offer a variety of conventional and natural products and will recommend the products that work best for the protection and well-being of your pet.
Sick & Emergency Care
With skilled doctors and well-stocked transits, we are able to treat about 90% of common medical conditions during in-home appointments. We can take samples for many types of laboratory services in your home and often have the results back to you in 24-48 hours. Additionally, in-home appointments can provide our veterinarians with the opportunity to observe environmental conditions that may be related to pet illness. Our Receptionists and Patient Care Coordinators are trained to triage emergencies to help you get the best care needed for your pet. Most things we can handle at home but in some cases we may recommend coming to one of our facilities or going to a specialty center based on the severity of the situation. For laboratory samples that we take at your home, we get pick-up twice a day from the same laboratories that all the local vet hospitals use, which gives us a quick turn-around for results. We also have capabilities to run blood tests on site at our hospitals for more time-sensitive emergencies. Visit our Emergency Services page to determine if you have an emergency and for contact information for area emergency veterinary affiliates.
Veterinary Counseling Services
We offer a wide scope of consultations for both acute and chronic conditions. Pediatric care, allergies, senior health, lameness evaluations, second opinions, oncology, and behavior are just a few. If you have any questions about your pet’s health, please don’t hesitate to contact us—you know your pet best and there are no bad questions when it comes to your pet’s health or your peace of mind.
More about Consultations
Chronic disease management.
HousePaws offers in-home consultations to help manage chronic diseases or conditions your pet may have and reduce the number of stressful trips he or she needs to make to the veterinary hospital. We can help manage conditions related to heart, kidney and liver diseases, diabetes, cancer, arthritic conditions and more, and make recommendations of how to keep your pet as healthy and comfortable as possible in their own environment. HousePaws is happy to offer second opinion on diagnosis on chronic conditions which can be challenging for both pet and pet parent, alike.
Behavioral Counseling
This is a frequently encountered need and one where our mobile practice has distinct benefits to clients. The ability to see the pet in her own environment is a significant benefit when developing a plan of action to defeat a behavior problem. We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling, anxiety, and aggression. Most behavior problems can be solved with behavior modification techniques. Infrequently, natural alternatives or prescription medications may be needed for a short period of time.
Quality of Life
As pets age, their needs change, too. The benefits of a veterinary housecall allow us to see the environment that your pet lives in. We may see things that you may not which impact the every day quality of life of your pet, or conditions can can present special challenges to your pet, particularly as they age or their health changes.
Diabetic Home Management
Teaching the owner how to manage diabetes at home is important to having a stress-free diabetic pet. We offer training on obtaining your pet’s blood sample, and utilization of a home glucometer system. Frequent communication/consultation between the owner and veterinarian will optimize your pet’s success with this disease.
Dietary Counseling
We will provide guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. A few of our veterinarians have advanced training in Chinese Medicine to take nutritional counseling to the next level!
Mobile Diagnostic and Treatment Services
HousePaws employs a range of diagnostic and treatment techniques in our mobile practice that can be tailored to the needs of you and your pet. In most of our practice areas, our doctors have access to state of the art mobile radiology equipment for advanced diagnostic efforts. A number of our doctors are certified in traditional healing methodologies as well as newer technologies such as cold laser therapy that we have found to have consistent positive results. We are constantly adding to our inventory of knowledge and equipment to offer you the most effective modern and traditional therapies to treat the extensive range of medical conditions we see every day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why house calls, how much does a house call cost, what can be done on a house call, how often should my pet be examined by a veterinarian, does my indoor pet need annual vaccinations, how do i know if my pet is sick, where will my pet be examined, what do i need to do to prepare for a house call, what if my pet needs an x-ray, ultrasound, or ekg, what if my pet needs surgery, what if my pet has an emergency, is euthanasia possible at home, my pet requires special foods. are they available, can my pet be certified for travel or a kennel stay, are discounts offered for multiple pet households, how do i make an appointment.
A veterinary house call is more comfortable for your pet and more convenient for you. Without the stress of being transported to and examined in a strange environment, your pet can be relaxed in familiar surroundings while being given a thorough medical examination and receiving treatment.
When your pet is due for annual vaccinations, the fee for the house call and exam is $175.00. The cost of vaccines is additional and will vary depending on the combination needed. A “sick pet” house call with exam, depending on travel distance, is $215-$225. Any blood work, medicines, and injections as needed are additional costs.
In addition to a physical examination, many routine procedures can be accomplished on a house call basis such as annual vaccinations, heartworm testing, blood and urine testing, and dental scaling. Many illnesses and conditions, such as urinary tract infections, upper respiratory infections, gastrointestinal problems, skin allergies and other dermatological conditions, and ocular problems, can also be handled on an outpatient basis through house calls. Dr. Nebel brings a full complement of diagnostic equipment and medications with him to provide the services and treatments your pet might need. Any other medications can be prescribed and filled at nearby pharmacies.
Annual examinations are recommended through the age of ten, and then twice-yearly exams along with blood and urine testing are recommended. Remember that one year of your pet’s life is the equivalent of about seven human years.
Yes! Vaccinations protect your pet from germs that may inadvertently be brought into your home, carried in on shoes. Also, vaccinations protect your pet in the event of unexpected hospitalization where your pet may be exposed to other animals. Please note that rabies vaccinations are required by New York State law for all pets, regardless of whether they are kept indoors. An individual vaccination schedule can be formulated for your pet based on his or her risks and needs.
Watch for any change in your pet’s behavior, habits, appearance, or demeanor. If you notice increased thirst, urination, excessive coughing or sneezing, vomiting or diarrhea that lasts more than a day, a change of weight, lethargy, or eye, ear, skin, or dental problems, please call for an appointment.
The examination can be performed wherever it is convenient. For small dogs and cats, a kitchen table or coffee table works well. Larger animals are examined on the floor where the pet is comfortable.
Dr. Nebel often asks cat owners to close bedroom doors before his arrival so that their cat won’t be able to hide in inaccessible places. If you think your cat is particularly shy and likely to hide, placing the cat in a bathroom shortly before Dr. Nebel’s visit is also helpful.
In the event that your pet requires a procedure involving specialized equipment, Dr. Nebel will make arrangements and transport your pet to a local hospital with which he is affiliated.
Dr. Nebel will transport your pet and perform routine surgeries at local affiliated hospitals. Specialized surgeries are referred to corresponding specialists.
Emergencies are not appropriate for house call medical treatment. If your pet is having difficulty breathing, has suffered serious trauma, is bleeding uncontrollably, or is unconscious, go immediately to the closest emergency clinic. Dr. Nebel recommends:
Euthanasia at home allows the animal to spend his final hours without unnecessary trauma and with his owner in the comfort of his home. The process is gentle and painless for your pet, and saying goodbye in the privacy of your home makes this sad day more bearable and dignified. Dr. Nebel transports the body and makes arrangements for cremation.
Dr. Nebel will deliver any special orders for foods.
Dr. Nebel can provide the proper certification after an exam and the required regulations are fulfilled.
A 10% discount is offered for households with three or more pets.
Please call 347-968-1434 to speak directly with Dr. Nebel to schedule an appointment. Appointment hours are available during most days and evenings.

Your pets are an important part of your family -- and like other family members, they're more comfortable at home amidst familiar faces and surroundings. That's why City Pets Vets® is the first choice for so many Manhattan dog and cat owners. Under the leadership of Dr. Amy Attas, City Pets Vets® provides mobile concierge veterinary services by bringing high-quality medical evaluations, treatments and advice directly to you and your pets.
The Benefits of Mobile Veterinary Care
We know how careful you are to ensure your pet's comfort and emotional security, but a visit to the veterinary hospital is a stressful experience. Make the experience less stressful for your pets with a City Pets Vets® house call. A house call with City Pets Vets® avoids:
- Being transported in a taxi (maybe even in a carrier) through the bustling streets of Manhattan.
- Being surrounded by animals who might be sick and contagious in a crowded waiting room.
- Wasting your valuable time traveling to the hospital waiting for the doctor and then bringing your pet home again.
At-home care eliminates all these issues. Our concierge veterinary services enable you to remain comfortably at home with your pet as we come to you, equipped with everything we need to provide necessary care. Relaxed, comfortable animals are more likely to display accurate vital signs reflecting their actual state of health, as opposed to variations that may accompany anxiety or fear in an unfamiliar hospital environment. This helps us make more precise diagnoses and administer better care.

Dr. Amy is the founder of City Pets, a veterinary house call service for dogs and cats living, working or visiting in Manhattan. A graduate of Barnard College, she attended the University of Pennsylvania where she received both a Master’s Degree in Animal Behavior and her veterinary degree. Following her graduation in 1987, she completed an internship in medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan.
Dr. Danielle joined the City Pets team in March of 2004. Prior to becoming a dog and cat house-call practitioner she practiced medicine and surgery for four years at a busy animal hospital on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and spent two years at an emergency veterinary practice on Staten Island.
James began his professional career by serving in the United States Navy as an aviator. Upon completion of his military obligation he returned to college to earn his Master’s degree in Health Care Administration, and after a brief stint working in the human health care field, he found his way to Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. Thus began what has now been close to thirty years of happily fulfilling a wide variety of management roles in the veterinary field, playing an integral part in helping pets, and their human caregivers, in whatever way he can. When not staying busy at work James enjoys traveling, hiking, watching movies and sports and cooking.
Jeanine is a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) who has been with City Pets since 2008. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at LaGuardia Community College in 2000 after which she gained practical experience in a number of different small animal hospitals.

Elena joined the City Pets team in April of 2019 after leaving a career in hospitality management to pursue a position that more closely aligns with her passion for animals and their wellbeing.

Vets on Wheels to Save the Day
Mobile vet in new york city, ny.
Household pets are great pals. We treasure them. They love us back. Mutual love results in us looking upon them as members of our loved ones, but they are the “weaker” aspects of that dependency. You must care for not just their health, but their grooming needs also.
Part of being a responsible pet owner, is taking your furry friend to regular visits to the vet. This is among the important things you should always remember if you want your beloved cat or dog to have a longer life span. And obviously, who would not want that? There is no doubt that pet owners in New York City, New York love their pets and desire them to be lively and strong. However, some vet clinics in New York City are far and not easily reachable.
We Come To You!
Pet owners need to squeeze in a visit with a vet in their busy routines, but even if one finds the time, an appointment for that particular time slot may not be made. Veterinarians work on a first-come-first-serve basis. Odds are you and your pets will be scheduled much, much later. Picture how devastating this could be if you know in your heart your dog or cat requires instant attention. Not all pet owners have adequate time to go distances or perhaps even drive a car to get to a veterinarian. This is quite troublesome if you are sharing a car with somebody and you don’t usually have easy access to it.
The nastiest part is, it can equally be really difficult for you to get your family pet itself to the veterinarian, particularly if they’re in a great deal of pain as a result of a dreadful disorder. These, nevertheless, need not prevent you from having a vet examine your pets.
We value how significant your pet is to you, therefore we offer mobile veterinary solutions in New York City, New York.

Inside Our Clinics
Our minimalist, clean Astoria vet clinic is designed to comfort both people and their pets. Warm tones, comfortable furniture, soothing lighting, and entertainment — toys for pets, books for people — make our animal hospital a comfortable place to spend some time.
Visit our Astoria vet clinic for urgent care, wellness checkups, routine and specialty surgery, and dental care, with diagnostic equipment, labs and medication onsite. Our compassionate team takes care of everything from vaccines and stomach issues to “Hmmm, my dog is acting a little weird today.” Plus, we treat emergency cases for half the cost of traditional emergency hospitals.
Similar to urgent care for people, we provide treatment that falls between routine exams and emergency care. This includes issues like bite wounds, stomach issues, wound treatment, pain or limping, eye and ear issues, coughing, urination issues, and more. Essentially, urgent care for pets is whenever you think to yourself, “I think something’s wrong — a vet should take a look at this ASAP.”
A checkup is a comprehensive nose -to-tail examination by a doctor who will customize a medical plan based on your pet’s needs and answer questions you may have. If our doctor recommends additional treatments or diagnostics, we’ll go over what they are, why they would be beneficial, and how much they cost beforehand.
Yes, we take all pet insurances, and our Astoria team will be more than happy to help you submit a claim.
Yes! Our Astoria clinic has a dedicated dental suite to provide the best dental cleaning experience for your pet. During the cleaning, an oral exam is performed, full-mouth radiographs are taken, teeth are scaled and polished, and we remove calculus from the tooth's surface and under gum lines. We then probe the teeth to measure the pockets that exist under the gum lines. If teeth are very unhealthy, we remove them.
Better care, Right when you need it
We offer compassionate, thorough, and friendly care in a warm, comfortable environment. With convenient hours, same-day appointments, telehealth and a 24/7 helpline, we’re always here when you need us.

Dutch King thanks Spain for sheltering Amalia when she was threatened at home
King Willem-Alexander thanked Spanish King Felipe for allowing crown princess Amalia to live and study in Madrid for a year while she faced threats in the Netherlands. The Dutch King expressed his thanks during a state banquet in the royal palace on Dam Square in Amsterdam on Wednesday evening. The Spanish King and Queen are on a state visit to the Netherlands.
Willem-Alexander said that “circumstances” required Amalia to live in Madrid for a while. “From there, she was able to continue her studies at the University of Amsterdam,” he said. “This was made possible by the kind efforts of many of your compatriots and yourselves. A touching demonstration of friendship at a difficult time. I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to you and everyone else who helped arrange this.”
Princess Amalia also attended the state banquet. It is her first time playing an official role during a state visit. The crown princess is now living in Amsterdam again . Sources told NOS that the threat against her hasn’t disappeared, but measures make it possible for her to live and study in the Netherlands again.
The Spanish King Felipe and Queen Letizia arrived in Amsterdam on Wednesday morning. The two Kings then visited the Johan Cruyff Foundation, a Dutch-Spanish foundation that offers children with disabilities the opportunity to develop through sports. They also visited the port of Amsterdam, where a “green hydrogen supply chain” is in the works between the ports of Amsterdam and the Spanish city of Bilbao.
On Thursday, King Willem-Alexander and King Felipe will visit a business forum of Spanish and Dutch fintech and cybersecurity companies in The Hague and meet with several Ministers and politicians. Queen Maxima and Queen Letizia will meet with several youth organizations in Amsterdam to discuss young people’s mental health. They’ll also attend the 10th anniversary celebration of the Amsterdams Spaans Film Festival, among other things.
