Saturday Dinner Cruise with live band on City of Fredericksburg Paddle Wheel Boat

Overall I enjoyed the ride. This ride had its pro and cons and I would like to go over each. I'm not quite sure $55 is what this should be priced at but it wouldn't be much less. A quick overview of the night, called day of to make reservations, very easy and very friendly guy. Boarded boat at 630pm but did not push off until 710ish (10 minutes late). There were roughly 40 people on board. Quickly went to the bar and got a drink and it was a good thing because the line got long quick and there was only 1 bartender. The bartender was very friendly and it was a good thing because the drinks were horrible and not mixed well. There was a live band instead of a DJ, they were very good. Even though we left late we still got back right on time. Buffet: The buffet is in a small area so you have to wait for your section to be called (not that big a deal), our section was called at 730pm. The food was decent and I thought it tasted good. Now for the disappointing part. The boat turned around at 830pm to head back towards the dock. I went back downstairs to get more food at 9pm and the buffet was already closed. This was very disappointing to me as I then came to find out the buffet closes at the turn around point. I DID NOT know this and had I known I would have went down earlier for my second helping. Point is do not call it all you could eat if it is only open for a hour. Music: Band was called Old School (unsure of spelling could be Old Skool). I enjoyed them, they played older music (60s and 70s rock) but it was very enjoyable. The singer was very good and the band was also good. Atmosphere: I really enjoyed the boat, it wasn't too hot, and it wasn't too cold. The only scenery was some beautiful highway structures and Jimmy Dean’s house (yes the sausage guy). Pros: - Great music - Good food - Friendly people Cons: - Short “all you can eat” timeframe - Bartender drinks were not good - Boat left late

We took this boat ride last weekend and while I cannot recommend going to Tangier Island, the trip on this boat made it at least enjoyable for us. The staff are very friendly and let my young son into the bridge to see how things work. Staff are friendly. You get a little history, too. Ride is scenic past other craft in the Chesapeake. There is a ticket counter and restrooms in Reedville, and free parking, even overnight. We had no problems with reservations and the boat left both ways on time. Sit upstairs in the sun, on the sides on the lower level in the shade or inside for some nice A/C. Drinks were available for a very reasonable cost of $1 on honor system.

My wife and I purchased two tickets for the Saturday, August 1 Dinner and Dance cruise on the Fredericksburg paddle boat. We opted for Saturday night because the website advertised a live band instead of the DJ option for Friday night. The tickets were $20 more but we thought having a live band would be worth the extra expense. When we boarded we did not see a band at all. After we had been cruising for about an hour I asked one of the crew members about the band and was told they do have live music occasionally. My wife and I like to dance but the music that was being played was not what I would call dance music. I like 70's rock but not as dance music. I finally asked if they had any more recent music and they did finally change it to something that was at least danceable. I do have to say the buffet that was served was good and the bathrooms were nice for a boat. Staff was friendly but having no DJ or Band put a damper on the night.

This may be a lovely cruise - but we never found out. We customized our road trip to stop in Richmond and go on a lunch cruise from 3103 Wharf Street. We arrived at the appropriate place and no one was there at the time at which we were told we HAD to be there. Finally we got through to someone who pulled into the parking lot after 11:30 a.m. to advise us that the tour was cancelled. And "we've been trying to get hold of you for a couple of days by email and phone." That was a lie. I had no trouble getting the reservation made through my email, so that wasn't true. And shortly after we left the parking lot, we got a phone call on the number I had given that went through just fine to advise that the credit had been made to our credit card. I don't believe ANYONE tried to contact us. I don't believe our confirmed booking was valued and I will NEVER book with this line again. It ruined our day and that whole leg of our trip. We would not have booked at the hotel we did, may not have even stopped in Richmond. I was VERY unsatisfied.

Had a great time on the Chesapeake Breeze boat to Tangier Island. Was a little choppy weather...but it was a very nice time. Chatted with folks from Norfolk that were on a fundraiser tour. Fun times....had lunch over there and did the little tour on a golf cart. The guide was very sweet!

Fredericksburg food tasting tours are now available for purchase in november.

Welcome to Fredericksburg Food Tours, your source for Culinary Tours and events throughout historic Fredericksburg, Virginia. Located just minutes from the Washington DC area, Fredericksburg boasts colonial buildings, stately manors, and a well-preserved old town. Throughout the area you can find a variety of local establishments, including restaurants, pubs, markets, and other shops.

This summer, Food Tour Corporation is proud to offer several culinary tours in and around Fredericksburg throughout the week at a variety of prices.

Our Tasting Tours will give you a sample of the restaurant scene by offering a series of bites and tastes at a reasonable price.

The Fredericksburg food tour is an afternoon experience that offers a more in-depth look at the culture and cuisine of the area.

Rather than tasting samples of food you receive specially created dishes and drinks that help tell the story of both the cuisine and the chefs in some areas best restaurants.

Our Dine Arounds bring together all the great elements of our Tasting Tours and Food Tours, but are fully customizable, and work great with groups of nearly any size. Dine Arounds can incorporate beer or wine pairings into the experience and can run in the evening.

WHAT IS A FOOD TOUR?

We would love to introduce you to what we do and what we love - Food Tours. A Food Tour is a combination of an area's history, history, architecture and culture brought together with food and drink from great local establishments.

During a Food Tour, you meet chefs, brew masters, proprietors, farmers, and bakers and learn how their story enhances the history of the area. On a Food Tour, you will try classic dishes and drinks, or enjoy special combinations that may not be found on the menu. Food Tours can be walking or transportation based, within a city or throuhgout a region, depending on their length, start time, and price point.

Scenic River Cruise

Take your loved one or your family on our Scenic River Cruise for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. We offer 3 options: 1. Cruise up the Corrotoman River – a relaxing scene with lots of wildlife, beautiful homes, and no infrastructure. 2.  A cruise down one side of the Rappahannock River to the Chesapeake Bay and up the other side. Lots of scenery and beauty to take in. 3. Lunch and Shopping Cruise to Historic Urbanna, Virginia. $545/trip, up to 7 people  – Approximately 3.5-4 hours

Sunset Cruise

Take a breathtaking tour of Carters Creek and the Rappahannock River with a picturesque sunset. Navigated by Captain Saunders one hour before sunset. Learn about history, see beautiful homes, and the beauty of the Rappahannock River. $65 per person minimum of 4 people/maximum of 7 people – Approximately 1 1/4 hours

Crabbing adventure aboard the FV Redeemer – a real life crabbing experience, where you catch, cook and eat crabs straight out of the sea – you won’t get any fresher than that!  $100 per person, minimum of 4 people
