The PGA TOUR Academy at the World Golf Villages was the first such Academy, opening in 2000. Since then, it has become one of the most recognized instructional academy locations in the country, and has helped hundreds of golfers improve their golf game.

LGA ChampionsGate is proud to provide the world’s finest instruction at a location that was hand-selected and designed by David Leadbetter himself to give his students the ultimate learning experience. As you approach the Academy, you’ll notice the spacious four-acre practice area designed to accommodate groups of all sizes. With a private driving range, two putting greens (16,000+ sq ft), two chipping greens (8,000+ sq ft) and a 70-yard pitching area with 12 target bunkers, each and every student will be able to develop and perfect all aspects of their golf game. When you enter LGA ChampionsGate, you will be warmly greeted by a member of the LGA staff in our pro shop, with David’s various books, DVDs and training aids, Callaway equipment and an assortment of apparel available for purchase to help you look and play your best. Inside the Academy, you will also find seven state-of-the-art video rooms, an indoor/outdoor hitting bay, a biomechanics and golf performance studio, a strength, flexibility and fitness studio, an Odyssey putting studio with SAM PuttLab technology and a full-service True Spec club fitting and repair shop. A portion of every golf fee benefits the Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy and First Tee - Clearwater where students grow in character, life skills, and academics. In addition to practicing at the Driving Range, taking golf lessons from a professional instructor is the best way to improve your game. Our instructors are uniquely skilled at evaluating your game and can help you hit the ball longer and straighter, as well as play better on and around the greens. You can schedule individual or group lessons. When Hall of Fame golfer Chi Chi Rodriguez started a school on his golf course in Clearwater, Florida, he believed that the golf course could make a better environment for learning than a traditional classroom for some kids. Many students struggle with poor grades, low self-esteem, or adjusting to a traditional academic environment. At the Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy, we are determined to positively impact the graduation rate of our community and prepare our students for success in the most important game of all. Life. The Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation acts in partnership with Pinellas County Schools to offer this unique, public-private academy that serves grades 4 through 8. The public school system identifies children in need of our special surroundings. Pinellas County Schools also provides our teachers, teachers assistants, bus transportation & food service. The Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation provides the Academy Director, School Counselor, the facilities and classroom enrichment materials.

Home of the World Golf Hall of Fame for 25 Years

The World Golf Hall of Fame celebrates golf and preserves the legacies of 164 of the greatest players and contributors to the game from around the world through stories of the achievements and experiences of the Hall of Fame members. Past inductees include Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, Walter Hagen, Bobby Jones and Tiger Woods. The Mission is to preserve and honor the history of the game of golf and the legacies of those who have made it great.

Opened in St. Augustine, Florida in 1998, WGHF has been the focal point for the celebration of the past, present and future of the great game of golf and has served as a steward of the game through engaging interactive storytelling and exhibitions featuring artifacts, works of art, audio, video and photography significant to the history of golf and it's members. This September the World Golf Hall of Fame closed its doors at the World Golf Village and is relocating to Pinehurst, North Carolina. The next induction ceremony will be held on June 10, 2024 ceremony in Pinehurst. While the Hall of Fame will be relocating from the World Golf Village, the legends who have been honored here will forever remain in our memories and in the spirit in which we play the game.

Spectacular Golf Amenities

The resort stands as a splendid and diverse homage to the sport of golf. At the heart of the village, a serene lake takes center stage, encircled by a 1.2-mile brick Walk of Champions. Along this picturesque path, each celebrated individual is commemorated with a substantial flagstone bearing their name and an enduring symbol etched into the stone. On the lake's western perimeter, you'll find a theater, a charming café, and a soaring 110-foot monument. To the north, the village plays host to an array of shops at the World Golf Village, while to the south, the Renaissance Hotel and convention center proudly stand. Further enhancing the experience are the village's exceptional golfing offerings, including the acclaimed King & Bear and the Slammer & Squire courses, both of which have earned an impressive 4.5 out of 5 stars rating from Golf Digest.

King & Bear at the World Golf Village Resort

This is the only course in the world that was co-designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. It features a mix of styles, the front 9 being an open links-style layout while the back 9 are more typical of traditional Florida golf, with loblolly pines, old oak trees, indigenous coquina rock, and water features. This course is more of a “drivers’ course,” playing to Palmer’s and Nicklaus’ strengths as golfers.

Slammer & Squire at the World Golf Village Resort

This course , crafted with contributions from golfing legends Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, boasts a design that begins its journey beneath a remarkable tower. Nestled amidst the region's unspoiled woodlands and wetlands, the course unfolds with an inviting layout, featuring undulating greens and a sprinkling of water elements.

The PGA Tour Academy at the World Golf Villages was the first of its kind when it opened in 2000 and has become a highly respected institution, well known throughout the country. Instructors are PGA and LPGA professionals. The Academy provides golf instruction to golfers of all ages and abilities, including to youths through the Junior Golf Programs.

The resort features a number of luxury vacation properties. Each property boasts its own unique features and amenities, catering to a wide variety of traveler preferences.

1. Renaissance Resort

This recently remodeled AAA Four-Diamond hotel is located next to the World Golf Hall of Fame with beautiful views of the lovely Kelly Lake. It has 301 Colonial Asian-style, luxurious guest rooms.

2. The Residences

This is a condominium complex with 78 3- and 4-bedroom beautifully appointed units along the fairways and wooded areas of the Slammer & Squire. There is also a newly remodeled pool and spa, a clubhouse and fitness center, meeting rooms, and a game room.

3. Holiday Inn World Golf Village

This lakefront hotel is conveniently located off the main highway, several miles from the World Golf Village. It features 162 guest rooms, both standard and suite options, equipped with microwaves and refrigerators. The hotel has its own restaurant and bar along with a pool and business center.

The Villagio Italian Grill and Bar features authentic pasta dishes and flatbreads in a casual, candlelit environment. There is also a large hot breakfast buffet. The well-stocked bar features classic drinks and local specialties. Midweek, the bar hosts Wine Wednesdays.

2. Murray Bros. Caddyshack Restaurant

“Eat, Drink, and be Murray” at this come-as-you-are restaurant founded by Bill Murray and his five brothers. The restaurant features a full menu of both light and robust dishes: fresh salads and appetizers along with juicy hamburgers and succulent steaks. Top off your meal with their famous “sloppy sundae.”

3. AJ’s Kitchen and Cocktails

This restaurant , named after Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, features comfort dishes with a southern coastal twist. On their outdoor patio, which boasts large fire pits, you can enjoy a meal or drink with a view of the King & Bear golf course.

4. Legends Grill

This pub-like restaurant overlooking the 9th green of the Slammer & Squire serves breakfast and lunch and has a fully stocked bar.

5. Starbucks

In the resort shop of the Renaissance, the convenience of Starbucks is right at your feet.
