Triposo: The Ultimate Travel Guide

Triposo lists the tops attractions, accommodations, eateries and more of over 45,000 destinations. Turin, Italy was featured on Triposo's 'Destination Of the Week' in September. Triposo Photos.

Triposo offers maps you can use without the Internet

Use the app to search your favorite destination and plan a trip all at once.

By Danielle Aihini

Why not make it easier and keep it all on one app?

That’s where Triposo comes into play. The ‘ultimate travel guide’ and the personal assistant you wish you always had, this iPhone and Android app will ‘help you decide where to sleep, what to see and what to do.’

And the most beautiful part: you can book your trip effortlessly with a click here and a click there. You can also use the map functions WITHOUT BEING ONLINE!!

For Americans traveling abroad, facing steep roaming charges in their phone, this is a Godsend!

I am currently in Massachusetts using the app offline and it still identifies my location on the map! It’s a super convenient way to use the map without connecting to WiFi, which tends to happen when you’re in the midst of traveling.

The app, just a free download away, works offline and lists over 45,000 destinations in almost every country.

Use the app to search your favorite destination and plan a trip all at once. With nine tabs open on my computer and 15 phone numbers written down, my brain is about to explode. Planning a trip is not only tiring but also difficult when you need to book a restaurant near the hotel you want to tay in right next to the museum you have to visit.

It comes with detailed maps and city walks, guides to attractions and sights, hotel information, a list of the best bars, clubs, shops and restaurants and smart suggestions to open the doors to hidden gems.

Phuket Town in Thailand, another 'Destination Of The Week' was featured in September.

The service also lets you book a reservation for hotels and tickets for attractions and guided tours with an easy checkout process. I decided to download Triposo to see just how effective it really is. The ‘smart travel guide’ opens up to a list of recommended places from The United Kingdom to Albania to Venice.

I clicked Venice and the page displayed the local time, a seven day forecast, suggestions for popular sights and food and drinks, and the currency conversion.

The layout makes planning a trip as simple as writing your name; maybe I’ll take the suggested walk across Cannaregio and Castello with over 15 highlighted points to explore or pay a visit to Bacaro Jazz, a smooth jazz bar with popular cocktails and Italian wines.

The Venice page also lists places to sleep with the average price per night, ratings and an overview of the hotel.

The app provides detailed maps that are accessible offline.

Hotel Torino just off Calle Larga XXII Marzo, the main shopping street in the city, offers rooms for $134 a night and let’s me book right from the app. It even lists interesting places nearby like the Piazza San Marco and St. Mark’s Basilica.

The app combines travel information from Wikipedia, Wikitravel, Wikivoyage and OpenStreetMaps and spreads it among thousands of destinations worldwide.

I searched Croatia, a place I’ve been longing to visit, and was able to read about Dubrovnik, an old city in the south of the country, under the Wikivoyage Inspiration tab that is available for every destination.

It gives me an extensive background on the city, things to see and do, transportation options and any tourist information you may need.

Did you know that in 1418, slave trade was abolished in the State of Dubrovnik? Neither did I! Thanks Triposo!

The app recently introduced new features including ApplePay, an alternative way to buy tickets and book hotel rooms and the “Track” service where you can select a city walk or guide and as you explore the area, Triposo will send notifications anytime you near a place you may be interested in visiting.

The app also added a new inspiration section with more up-to-date articles for every destination.

Maybe I’m planning a trip to London but don’t know where to stay or what to see. I can read thousands of reviews on the Premier Inn London County Hall and book my stay right on the app.

With a list of ‘Interesting Places Nearby,’ I can read about the London Dungeon, a tourist attraction that recreates the history of the area, and for $33.37 each, I can buy tickets on the same page.

It also provides the user with contacts and directions. If you still need time to verify any plans with your family and friends, you can save places you may want to refer back to.

This is one of the first travel apps I have tested that does such a successful job assembling so much up-to-date information on thousands of destinations and neatly arranges it into one place.

Triposo is a useful tool and reference to keep in your back pocket on any adventure.

In 2017, Triposo was acquired by Musement, a European travel company. Triposo will continue operating from Amsterdam, adding an extra location to Musement’s existing offices in Milan, London, Barcelona, New York and Dubai.

Seamlessly Catch an Uber With Triposo—Your Smart Travel Guide App

Triposo is the gateway to unique travel experiences in 50,000 destinations across the globe. Our travel app has seen 10 million downloads to date and is a comprehensive tool that makes travel accessible, personalized and smooth every step of the way. To make things easier for our travelers, we recently integrated Uber into our app.

How it works

Wherever Uber is available, you can get a ride from the Triposo app with just a few taps. In Paris and want to go to the Louvre? No problem. In New York and want to go to the Empire State Building? Let’s go. On each point of interest page there is an Uber button. Tap it, choose your ride, and get automatically redirected to the Uber app. Your current location will be preset as the starting point with the point of interest as the destination. All you have to do is tap “Request” and go.

If you don’t have the Uber app installed, it’s just as easy to get things going. A simple flow will guide you to the App Store where you can get the app and request your first ride.

Integrating the Uber Button

To integrate Uber into the Triposo app, we worked with one of Uber’s partners, Button . Button allowed our developers to add a single SDK and insert a fully functional and user-friendly Uber button into our app. Button also provides us with the ability to track and measure incoming users. Integrating the button was seamless and took only a few hours and a couple lines of code to get things working.

We are always searching for ways to improve traveler experiences in-destination. The Triposo-Uber integration does exactly that. Uber is a global transportation service that spans 500+ cities and 80+ countries, making it a seamless and reliable choice. This partnership is a time-saving and pain-free way to get a ride no matter where you are or where you want to go.

Get the Triposo app in the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store today.

Triposo - triposo.com

triposo.com

Is triposo.com legit.

As a frequent traveler, I’m always on the lookout for web services that can enhance my trip planning experience. That’s why I was excited to try out Triposo, a travel website that promised to revolutionize the way I plan my trips. In this review, I’ll share my experience using Triposo and explain why it’s a service that every traveler should consider.

First of all, I was impressed by the user interface of Triposo. The website is clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate. From the moment I landed on the homepage, I knew that I was in for a pleasant experience. The layout is uncluttered, and the fonts are legible, making it easy to find the information I was looking for. The search bar is prominently displayed, allowing me to search for destinations, attractions, or activities easily.

What are the features of Triposo.com?

One of the standout features of Triposo is the personalized recommendations. When I first signed up for the website, I was prompted to create a profile and input my travel preferences. This included the type of accommodation I prefer, the activities I enjoy, and the budget I’m working with. Based on this information, Triposo generated a customized itinerary for me. I was amazed at how accurate the recommendations were. The itinerary included a mix of popular tourist spots and off-the-beaten-path attractions, making for a well-rounded trip.

Another feature that I appreciated was the ability to download city guides for offline use. As someone who travels frequently, I’ve learned that reliable internet access isn’t always a guarantee. That’s why having access to offline city guides is a game-changer. With Triposo, I was able to download the guide for the city I was visiting and access it without an internet connection. The guide included detailed information about the city’s history, popular attractions, and even local tips . It was like having a local tour guide in my pocket.

What is the feature Nearby?

In addition to the city guides, Triposo also has a feature called “Nearby.” This feature uses my location to recommend attractions and activities that are within walking distance. This was particularly helpful when I was exploring a new city and didn’t know where to start. With Nearby, I could quickly see what was in the area and make a decision on what to do next.

Where did I hit a rock with triposo.com?

One of the areas where Triposo falls short is in its accommodation recommendations. While the website does offer hotel suggestions, they are limited in number and scope. Additionally, the website doesn’t integrate with third-party booking sites, which means that users can’t compare prices or book directly through Triposo. This is a minor inconvenience, but it’s worth noting for travelers who prioritize finding the best deals on accommodation.

Another minor issue I encountered was that the app tended to be slow when loading information. While this didn’t affect my overall experience with the website, it did cause some frustration when I was trying to access information quickly. This could be an issue for travelers who are short on time and need to make quick decisions.

Overall, I would highly recommend Triposo to anyone who is looking for a comprehensive travel planning service. The personalized recommendations, offline city guides, and Nearby feature make it a must-have for any traveler. While there are some minor issues with the website, they are outweighed by the benefits. Triposo has made planning my trips more enjoyable and efficient, and I look forward to using it for future travels.

Does Triposo.com have any strengths or weaknesses?

As someone who loves to travel, I’m always on the lookout for web services that can make my trip planning experience more enjoyable and efficient. One such service that caught my attention is Triposo, a travel website that offers personalized recommendations and offline city guides. In this review, I’ll provide an in-depth analysis of the pros and cons of using Triposo.

What are strengths of  Triposo.com?

  • Personalized Recommendations: One of the standout features of Triposo is the personalized recommendations. When I signed up for the website, I was prompted to create a profile and input my travel preferences. Based on this information, Triposo generated a customized itinerary for me. The itinerary included a mix of popular tourist spots and off-the-beaten-path attractions, making for a well-rounded trip. This feature made planning my trip much more manageable and enjoyable.
  • Offline City Guides: Triposo’s offline city guides are a game-changer for travelers who may not have access to reliable internet while on the road. The guides are detailed and include information about the city’s history, popular attractions, and even local tips. With the offline city guides, I was able to explore new cities without worrying about finding Wi-Fi.
  • Nearby Feature: Triposo’s Nearby feature is an excellent tool for travelers who want to explore their surroundings. The feature uses your location to recommend attractions and activities that are within walking distance. This feature was particularly helpful when I was exploring a new city and didn’t know where to start. With Nearby, I could quickly see what was in the area and make a decision on what to do next.
  • User-Friendly Interface: The Triposo website has a clean, intuitive, and easy-to-navigate interface. From the moment I landed on the homepage, I knew that I was in for a pleasant experience. The search bar is prominently displayed, allowing users to search for destinations, attractions, or activities easily.

What are the weaknesses of  Triposo.com?

  • Limited Accommodation Recommendations: While Triposo does offer hotel suggestions, they are limited in number and scope. The website doesn’t integrate with third-party booking sites , which means that users can’t compare prices or book directly through Triposo. This is a minor inconvenience, but it’s worth noting for travelers who prioritize finding the best deals on accommodation.
  • Slow Loading Time: One issue I encountered with Triposo was that the app tended to be slow when loading information. While this didn’t affect my overall experience with the website, it did cause some frustration when I was trying to access information quickly. This could be an issue for travelers who are short on time and need to make quick decisions.
  • Inaccurate Recommendations: While Triposo’s personalized recommendations are generally accurate, there were a few instances where the website recommended attractions or activities that didn’t align with my preferences. This could be frustrating for travelers who rely on Triposo to plan their entire itinerary.
  • Limited Destination Coverage: Triposo’s coverage is limited to a select number of destinations. While the website covers many popular destinations, there are still many areas of the world that aren’t included. This could be a problem for travelers who are looking to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations.

Overall impression of Triposo.com

Overall, Triposo is an excellent travel website that offers many useful features for travelers. The personalized recommendations, offline city guides, and Nearby feature are all excellent tools that make planning a trip more manageable and enjoyable. However, there are some cons to using Triposo, including limited accommodation recommendations, slow loading time, inaccurate recommendations, and limited destination coverage. While these issues are minor, they are worth considering before using the website. Overall, I would recommend Triposo to any traveler who is looking for a comprehensive travel planning service .

Short Checkup of Triposo.com

Triposo is a smart travel content mobile application that uses algorithms to scan the web and crunch through millions of websites and reviews to give you the best idea of what to eat, where stay and things to do. Not only can you add your favourites to a list, you can book them directly through the app, as well as access thousands of maps, local tips and personalised suggestions offline. The app features over 50,000 destinations across 200 countries, and boasts nearly eleven million users.

Undoubtedly one the best features of the app is the ability to download a location and access it offline. This means that not only do you not have to worry about using up your mobile data, you can quickly load information without having to wait for a good connection. That being said, if you do have data roaming turned on, you can use the app’s GPS function to see how close you are to the nearest place of interest.

The app is easy to use, with an aesthetic interface that makes viewing items, such as restaurants, cultural attractions, nightlife and shopping, quick and easy. The application also includes a phrasebook for the local language, meaning you really do have all you need for getting about in one place.

One of the downsides of the app is that you are unable to filter results to just show one category, making it slightly convoluted at times. The ability to be able to select just one activity, such as nightlife, would make it easier to see what’s around, rather than having to wade through all the indicators of restaurants, bars and shopping etc.

However, all in all, Triposo is a very useful app for travelling, putting all you need to have a good time in a new city in one place, allowing you to save money on guide books, phrase books and maps.

Overall User Satisfaction Rating

0 triposo reviews, see 15 more reviews, comprehensive.

Just downloaded Triposo as suggested by a fellow traveler. I like that you can use it offline and that Triposo includes a little background history as well as listings for hotels and restaurants for the area you're visiting.

Info outdated

When I purchased Triposo for all countries I thought it was great, however as time goes by despite version updates the info on restaurants, etc is sorely outdated. A recent trip through Spain, France and Germany we would search for suggested spots wandering endlessly only to find the places were now under a different name or closed. So works for historic sites, but not so well for restaurants, etc....find Google map works better, is free and updates more frequently.

TrvlnFoolSue

Used to be a 5 now a 1.5

So I started using this app years ago & adored it. I’d download Triposo for the country we were visiting before we left and everything was awesome. Planning routes based on started items worked good & Iit was my Go-to travel app. With this “all-in-one” app version most of the time the city/location/country never fully downloads. So when I’m out & about Triposo is a dud. I’m almost ready to dump Triposo !!!!

We have traveled around the world in the last seven years and this app has been invaluable on having information about hotels, attraction, local history, restaurants. Excellent guide Thankyou very much for all the hard work

...City Walks?

I ABSOLUTELY adored Triposo. I even recommended it on my travel blog several times. I haven’t used it in a few years and I am sad to say that it no longer calculates the city walks. The city walks function was the key selling point for me. I love the information provided, the prices, and so much more... please fix the city walks function. 🙏🏻

andyoverseas

No Delete Function!!

I used to download a travel guide for each country I visited and then deleted it when I got home. Now I have to download the country guide within the this app App and, since there is no delete key, I’m stuck with it once I get home, so I’m forced to delete and reinstall this app for every trip or waste memory in data I no longer need.

Excellent Travel Tool

We’ve used Triposo around the world on 5 continents and it has proven to be useful, informative and fun. Great to have so many details, maps and fun facts in hand when out of your element.

An Early Review

I’m in the process of developing plans and at this point I’m pleased with the services I have received.

Perfect way to plan a vacation!

this app makes it easy to plan a trip. Hotels, sightseeing, restaurants and more at your fingertips. And, best of all, you can save your choices!

Great for travelers

We have traveled from Athens to Zimbabwe Triposo has been very helpful. Be sure to download your country and cities before leaving home!!

Highly Disappointing

Researched and did a fair amount of planning on Triposo pre-trip. Arrived in Athens and loaded a walk to receive a message... Oops, we’re so sorry but can’t load the walk right now... So, the one thing Triposo is supposed to do, it doesn’t do and lets you down on arrival. Note for devs: don’t build an app for travel if it doesn’t work whilst travel.

Maya the Bee

Used to be useful enough.

This was my go to when I didn’t have internet in other cities. Downloaded this for a U.S. major city. Tried to make a walking tour but it either couldn’t calculate or Triposo would just crash. Not very useful to anyone like this. So long, guys

Light waves

Doesn’t create a walk

This would be a nice app if it created a a walk based on my attraction selections. This part has been broken for weeks and there seems to be know urgency to fix this. Too bad!

Ken D' Quahog

What walk creator?

I’d like to use Triposo to create a walk for places I’ll visit... but it can’t seem to “calculate” my walk. I even sarcastically tried to make one by only including 3 locations to stop and it still couldn’t “calculate”. this app, I think it’s time for some new mathematicians. Lol ... Please fix this issue, because it’s a great app when it’s working.

Doesn’t calculate the walk

Despite various attempts to contact the developer, I never received a reply. The calculate walk function does not work. I actually bought Triposo thinking it was a paid function but alas still it didn’t work. Unfortunately I don’t see how I could use Triposo in the future.

Is Triposo Safe?

Musement acquires Triposo in move to create an ‘all inclusive’ in-destination experiences platform

Milan/amsterdam, october 10th 2017.

Musement , the travel tech startup that lets users discover and book local tours and attractions, today announced the acquisition of travel content platform  Triposo . The deal brings together more than 12 million travelers across both platforms and strengthens Musement’s global footprint. Triposo CEO  Nishank Gopalkrishnan  will maintain his role and join Musement’s leadership team to oversee the company’s strategic B2B partnerships.

Founded in 2013 in Milan, Italy by  Paolo Giulini ,  Claudio Bellinzona ,  Alessandro Petazzi  and  Fabio Zecchini , Musement was launched on the premise that travelers typically book hotels, flights and rental cars online prior to their departure, but usually leave the actual holiday activities and attractions to be planned in the destination. Musement carefully curates travel experiences for users to discover and book, allowing them to take hassle-free holidays, save time at their destination, and come home with the best memories. In less than 4 years, the company has grown into one of the world’s largest platforms for in-destination travel experiences.

With over 10 million downloads of its apps, more than 40% of which are from North America and Western Europe, Triposo is a smart travel content platform that uses machine learning algorithms to peruse the web and crunch through millions of websites and reviews, centralizing them in one platform. The company, which raised venture capital from  InterWest Partners  and others, aggregates travel content for 200 countries, 50,000 destinations and 5 million points of interest, and applies machine learning to let its users discover what’s most relevant to them.

" Today's news is a major milestone for Musement’s users and partners alike, " said Alessandro Petazzi, co-founder and CEO at Musement. " Our vision is to build the best in-destination activities discovery and booking platform. Triposo's machine learning technology, which serves hyper-personalized content to users, combined with Musement's discovery and booking technology service for travel, are a natural fit. Through this partnership, we're bringing an amazing team and cutting-edge technology in-house, significantly enhancing the overall experience for our users and creating new revenue opportunities for hundreds of local travel partners. ”

Triposo's technology integration is expected to be completed in the next few months and will allow Musement to offer a more intuitive and personalized experience to its users in real time. The integration means Musement will offer hyper-personalized travel content and booking options to its users across multiple verticals - from guided tours and museums, to food & wine and spa & wellness options - and also across multiple touch-points; the B2C Musement and Triposo websites and apps, and the joint B2B APIs, which travel partners can integrate in their websites.

Commenting on the acquisition, Nishank Gopalkrishnan, Triposo CEO said, " We are very excited to join the Musement team and to join forces with Musement, powering one of the world´s largest and fastest growing platforms for in-destination experiences with Triposo’s award-winning machine learning technology. Together, I am confident that we can offer our users the best content, and provide our partners with monetization opportunities at scale. ”

The $135 billion tours and activities market  continues to see innovation and consolidation, with today’s acquisition following a series of big moves such as Tripadvisor’s acquisition of Viator in 2014, and more recently Peek’s  acquisition of Zozi  in April 2017.

Keval Desai, Partner at InterWest Partners said: “ As an investor and traveler, I am excited at the possibilities that this partnership opens up for travelers worldwide. Now that we all carry a powerful supercomputer in our pockets, it makes sense to leverage that technology and bring back the joy of spontaneous discovery into our travel experiences. With the combination of Musement and Triposo, we can all look forward to saying goodbye to tedious planning before we embark on our journey and simply look forward to the delights that await us when we arrive at our destination. ”

Triposo will continue operating from Amsterdam, adding an extra location to Musement’s existing offices in Milan, London, Barcelona, New York and Dubai. As part of the deal,  InterWest Partners  has joined the company as a shareholder. Musement raised a total of $18 million from Paris based  360 Capital Partners , Milan based  P101  and others.

About Musement

Your guide to The Tribune's new publication schedule, plus new features

A pr. 14—Tribune readers will notice several major changes beginning Monday. Here's what you need to know — and where to find your favorite content.

Print schedule: Starting this week we will publish print newspapers on Wednesdays and Sundays and continue to be delivered alongside your regular mail delivery. The Sunday newspaper will arrive on Saturday as it has since December. Single copies also will be available at select retail locations.

eEdition schedule: The eEdition will continue to publish seven days a week at sanluisobispo.com and in our digital app available on your cellphone and tablets. And we'll continue to publish news digitally throughout the day, every day, including late-breaking news — things such as election results, council meetings and crime. The eEdition also includes the robust Extra Extra package of additional national news, sports, features, puzzles, comics and opinion content.

Website, apps, social media, newsletters: We update our website, apps, social media accounts and newsletters seven days a week.

Where to find your favorite content

News: The print editions of the paper will have more pages of news content, and we'll continue to place our top journalism in print. But most stories will appear online — on the website and often in the eEdition — before they are featured in the print editions.

Puzzles: Puzzles will be published daily in the eEdition. The print editions will include puzzles from nonprint days — so the Wednesday paper, for example, will have the Monday and Tuesday puzzles, too.

Comics: Comics will be published daily in the eEdition. In print, we'll continue to publish the Sunday comics.

TV listings: TV listings, including the sports-specific listings, will be published daily in the eEdition. In print, you'll see the listings for that specific day.

Weather: Weather will run daily in the eEdition and in each print edition.

New features

Along with the print change, we've got some exciting new features as well.

No. 1 is universal access for Tribune subscribers across all 30 of McClatchy's news sites.

That means your login will allow you to read the Fresno Bee, Modesto Bee and Sacramento Bee at no extra cost, along with other newspapers across the country, including the Miami Herald, the Kansas City Star, the Tacoma News-Tribune and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

This is a huge value addition to your subscription at no extra cost, especially for people with ties to the San Joaquin Valley and anyone interested in California politics and the state capital.

In the coming months, we'll also launch a new eEdition portal and reader interface. The new interface will make it easier to select the edition and section you want to read.

As always, The Tribune will continue to provide you with essential daily coverage of our community, including the latest breaking news and important investigative reporting that holds our leaders accountable through features like our Reality Check series.

We have the most experienced newsroom in San Luis Obispo County, with roots that go back decades and a history that dates to 1869.

The California News Publishers Association has named The Tribune best in class three out of the last five years, with first-place awards for general excellence, public service, investigative reporting and more. Our reporters, editors and visual journalists produce groundbreaking work across a wide range of topics and beats.

If you're already a subscriber, thank you for supporting local journalism and being a champion for our democracy. If you haven't activated your digital access, be sure to do that at sanluisobispo.com/activate so you can get the most out of your subscription.

If you aren't a subscriber, please consider being a part of the solution. Our community deserves a strong, independent local news source, and we can't do our work without you.

7 New Movies Our Critics Are Talking About This Week

Whether you’re a casual moviegoer or an avid buff, our reviewers think these films are worth knowing about even if you’re not planning to see them.

  • Share full article

By The New York Times

Critic’s Pick

A hot-button movie people are arguing over.

A woman with a bulletproof vest that says “Press” stands in a smoky city street.

‘Civil War’

Alex Garland’s “Civil War” is set in a near-future when the United States is at war with itself and something called the Western Front, made up of Texas and California, is fighting the federal government.

From our review:

It’s mourning again in America, and it’s mesmerizingly, horribly gripping. Filled with bullets, consuming fires and terrific actors like Kirsten Dunst running for cover, the movie is a what-if nightmare stoked by memories of Jan. 6. As in what if the visions of some rioters had been realized, what if the nation was again broken by Civil War, what if the democratic experiment called America had come undone? If that sounds harrowing, you’re right.

The rare reboot that gets it right.

‘don’t tell mom the babysitter’s dead’.

After the babysitter hired to watch them for the summer keels over, a 17-year-old slacker named Tanya (Simone Joy Jones) is forced to support her even lazier younger siblings.

Don’t tell helicopter parents, but the gleefully transgressive flicks that entertained a generation of latchkey wildlings are coming back in style. Wade Allain-Marcus’s rollicking update of the 1991 cult favorite keeps the plot … and amps up the immoral humor. It’s a snappy, gutsy comedy about how kids are spoiled and ignorant, and yet the adult workplace is only passingly more mature.

A deceptive horror film where the good guys aren’t so good.

‘in flames’.

In Pakistan, 20-something Mariam, her widowed mother, Fariha, and her younger brother are struggling when Uncle Nasir suddenly becomes very interested in the relatives he had been neglecting.

As the women scramble to save their home, the walls close in on them, and that’s the point: “In Flames,” a confident feature debut written and directed by Zarrar Kahn, is one of several recent films from around the world that frame patriarchy as a nightmare. … When the film finally gives way to full horror, the pace picks up, and we see what the movie’s been doing all along.

Time travel courtesy of a few bops.

‘the greatest hits’.

Since her boyfriend died in a tragic accident, any song Harriet (Lucy Boynton) hears attached to memories of him catapults her, quite literally, back to the moment in their relationship when that song was playing.

“The Greatest Hits” proceeds slowly and repetitively, which doesn’t have to be a problem: The gentleness of the pace and storytelling gives the cast space to breathe and react to each other, to build relationships that feel reasonably authentic. Similarly, the music choices (which are all over the map both in genre and era) are fun and fresh, lacking the on-the-nose quality that a film with more bang-on choices might have provoked. But as it goes on, the movie begins to feel mired in its own high-concept conceit without space to develop it further.

Watch on Hulu. Read the full review .

A movie about sasquatches. Either you’re in or you’re not.

‘sasquatch sunset’.

This tale of sasquatches follows a pack of four of the creatures through a wordless year of mating, childbirth, death and discovery.

A sincere gift to Bigfoot believers or a surreal cinematic prank, “Sasquatch Sunset” mimes the familiar beats of the nature documentary. This may be a one-joke movie, but it’s an oddly endearing jest, the beasts’ resemblance to primates tweaking our empathy.

Like ‘A Quiet Place,’ only not as good.

On a remote farm, Paul (Nicolas Cage) and his teenage sons scavenge during the day; at night they’re besieged by feral beasts, who may be the mutated victims of an epidemic.

From the review:

The director [Benjamin Brewer] builds tension in brief pockets of silence, and when we do see the monsters, they look quite good — sticky and spindly in a tactile way, like the aliens in John Carpenter’s “The Thing.” But a competent director can do only so much with a poor script, and “Arcadian” is littered with shortcuts and screenwriting clichés.

Tutu-wearing street kids meet the ghosts of old wounds.

This trippy ensemble drama set in Kinshasa explores Congolese society through magical realism and four loosely connected stories.

To say “Omen” is ambitious feels like an understatement. The film begins with a mystical interlude in which a woman pours her breast milk into a river, and sustains this vivid symbolism throughout, making details with natural explanations (a birthmark, a seizure) take on an otherworldly heft. In its best moments, a quiet element of absurdity grounds the spectacle.

Not sure what to watch next we can help..

Even before his new film “Civil War” was released, the writer-director Alex Garland faced controversy over his vision of a divided America  with Texas and California as allies.

Theda Hammel’s directorial debut, “Stress Positions,” a comedy about millennials weathering the early days of the pandemic , will ask audiences to return to a time that many people would rather forget.

“Fallout,” TV’s latest big-ticket video game adaptation, takes a satirical, self-aware approach to the End Times .

“Sasquatch Sunset” follows the creatures as they go about their lives. We had so many questions. The film’s cast and crew had answers .

If you are overwhelmed by the endless options, don’t despair — we put together the best offerings   on Netflix , Max , Disney+ , Amazon Prime  and Hulu  to make choosing your next binge a little easier.

Iran launches barrage of strikes toward Israel

By Tori B. Powell , Sophie Tanno, Emma Tucker , Kaanita Iyer , Paul LeBlanc and Adrienne Vogt , Jerome Taylor and James Legge, CNN

Our live coverage of Iran's attack on Israel has moved here .

Iran warns its response will be "stronger and more resolute" if Israel retaliates following latest strikes

From CNN’s Alireza Hajihosseini and Eyad Kourdi

An anti-missile system operates as seen from Ashkelon, Israel, on Sunday.

Iran has warned that it will respond with more force if Israel retaliates over this weekend's strikes, which Tehran said were themselves a reply to an Israeli attack earlier this month on its embassy complex in Syria's capital Damascus.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to exercise its inherent right of self-defense when required," Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, said in a statement.

Citing self-defense against repeated Israeli military aggressions, Iravani said the strikes were specifically in retaliation to an Israeli attack on April 1 against what Iran says were diplomatic facilities in Damascus.

Iran claims the attack violated international law and led to the death of seven Iranian military advisors, including key commanders from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The statement also criticizes the United Nations Security Council for “failing to uphold international peace,” allowing Israel to “breach” established international norms and “escalate” regional tensions.

Additional context: Israel has carried out numerous strikes on Iran-backed targets in Syria, often targeting weapons shipments allegedly intended for Hezbollah, a powerful Iranian proxy in Lebanon.

Israel has not claimed responsibility for the April 1 attack which destroyed an Iranian consulate building in the capital Damascus, including Mohammed Reza Zahedi, a top Revolutionary Guards commander.

However an Israel Defense Forces spokesman told CNN that their intelligence showed the building was not a consulate and was instead “a military building of Quds forces disguised as a civilian building.”

China expresses 'deep concern', calls for ceasefire

From CNN's Philip Wang and Irene Nasser

China has expressed "deep concern" over the "current escalation" following Iran's attack on Israel, according to a spokesperson for its Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, adding that it is a "spillover of the Gaza conflict" and a ceasefire should be implemented without delay.

In a statement, China called "on relevant parties to exercise calm and restraint to prevent further escalations."

"The ongoing situation is the latest spillover of the Gaza conflict," the spokesperson said, adding that a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas should be implemented without any more delay.

Beijing did not  name or condemn Hamas  in the wake of the initial October 7 attacks. Since then, it has condemned the war and been a vocal  proponent of an immediate ceasefire  and the implementation of a “two-state” solution.

Last month, Chinese diplomat Wang Kejian met Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Qatar, the first meeting between a Chinese and Hamas official publicly acknowledged by Beijing since the outbreak of the  war in Gaza .

Wang’s visit follows efforts by Beijing to step up its profile as a  peace broker in the Middle East conflict.

US forces intercepted 70+ drones and at least three ballistic missiles, US officials say

US forces intercepted more than 70 one-way attack drones and at least three ballistic missiles during Iran's attack on Israel, according to two US officials familiar with the situation.

The ballistic missiles were intercepted by warships in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, one of the officials said. Iran launched more than 100 ballistic missiles in total at Israel, according to a senior administration official.

The US Navy currently has two destroyers in that area, both are guided missile destroyers capable of intercepting missile and drone launches.

US fighter jets were also part of the response to Iran’s attack on Saturday and shot down drones launched towards Israel, another US official told CNN.

Biden to meet with G7 leaders Sunday as he condemns Iran's "brazen attack"

From CNN’s Lauren Koenig

US President Joe Biden will meet with G7 leaders Sunday “to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s brazen attack,” according to a statement released by the White House.

“My team will engage with their counterparts across the region. And we will stay in close touch with Israel’s leaders,” the statement from Biden reads. “And while we have not seen attacks on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant to all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary action to protect our people.”

US defensive assets moved to the region earlier this week and “helped Israel take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles,” according to the statement.

Biden also spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu following Saturday’s attack “to reaffirm America’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel.”

United Airlines cancels three Middle East flights

From CNN’s Sara Smart

At least three United Airlines flights headed to or departing from the Middle East have been canceled amid the ongoing conflict unfolding between Iran and Israel.

On Saturday a flight from Newark, New Jersey to Tel Aviv, a flight from Washington D.C. to Amman, Jordan, and one from Dubai to Newark were canceled, the airline told CNN in a statement.

There have been no changes to any Sunday flights for United as of Saturday night, according to the airline.

CNN has reached out to other airlines regarding cancellations.

Biden told Netanyahu US will not participate in offensive operations against Iran, US official says

From CNN's MJ Lee

A US Marine guards the entrance to the West Wing of the White House on Saturday.

The US will not participate in any offensive operations against Iran, US President Joe Biden has made clear to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a senior administration official told CNN.

The comments were relayed during the phone call that the two leaders shared in the aftermath of Iran's retaliatory strikes against Israel.

Biden tells Netanyahu tonight was a win, nothing of "value" hit in Israel, US official says

Israel should consider tonight a win because the current US assessment is that Iran’s attacks had been largely unsuccessful and demonstrated Israel’s superior military capability, President Joe Biden told Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in their phone call, a senior administration official told CNN.

The US’s assessment tonight was that almost all of the drones and missiles – including more than 100 ballistic missiles -- launched by Iran had been knocked out of the sky. No cruise missile made impact, the official said, and nothing of “value” was hit.

Bolton: 'Passivity at this point for Israel would be a big mistake'

From CNN's Heather Chen

John Bolton, the former US national security adviser and ambassador to the UN, said “passivity at this point for Israel would be a big mistake,” warning of more attacks.

“This is not time to play academic games and message and signal. This is a question of power,” Bolton told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. "If they came from a different location containing nuclear warheads, Israel might not be so lucky.”

A known Iran policy hawk, Bolton served in senior national security positions during the Trump and Bush administrations. A neoconservative, Bolton has in the past advocated war with Iran and a pre-emptive strike on North Korea.

In 2022, he was the target of an alleged assassination attempt orchestrated by a member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

He has warned against underestimating Iran’s nuclear program, which Tehran has said is for peaceful purposes only.

“I think we have enough experience with faulty intelligence by now, not to be so sure, not to know how much of Iran’s uranium enrichment program is really being conducted under a mountain in North Korea,” Bolton said.

If Tehran sent “a wire transfer to Pyongyang,” it would give the North Koreans “enough time to put a couple of warheads on an airplane and fly them to Tehran. (But) if you take away their nuclear capability, that would be a dramatic hit to the regime, maybe enough to topple it.”
