22 Days - Amritsar, Dharamshala, Shimla, Spiti and Ladakh

We enjoyed every day of this tour. Romantic places changed with adventure by driving in extreme situations. Old Temples, breathtaking hights, nature as well in himalayan Ranges(brown Colours and white snowy tops) as in the "hills" with subtropic Green, wild rivers, waterfalls….

Shimla - Summer Capital of British India

The drivers and guides were brilliant - couldn’t ask for more from them in terms of attention, knowledge and good humour. The hotel was very comfortable but cold and gloomy in the corridors. And the long awaited train ride was long and uncomfortable and slightly underwhelming tbh. Ask for an upgrade to First Class if possible. Enjoyed exploring Shimla and learned a lot, so bar a few caveats, would recommend this tour.

10 Days Himachal With Golden Temple Tour(ALL INCLUSIVE)

I recently had the opportunity to go on an 8-day tour of the Taj Mahal with a stop in Nepal for some wildlife viewing. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget. First and foremost, the Taj Mahal itself was absolutely breathtaking. The white marble structure, intricate carvings, and stunning gardens were even more beautiful in person than in pictures. Our tour guide Mr.Hemender Singh was very knowledgeable and gave us a thorough history of the monument, making our visit even more meaningful. After spending a day at the Taj Mahal, we headed to Nepal for some wildlife viewing. We visited Chitwan National Park, home to a diverse range of animals including tigers, rhinos, and elephants. We went on a jeep safari and were lucky enough to spot a tiger in the wild. It was a surreal experience and one that I will never forget. Our accommodations in Nepal were also top-notch. We stayed at a beautiful resort in the middle of the jungle, complete with luxurious tents and delicious local cuisine. The staff was incredibly friendly and made sure we had a comfortable stay. One of the highlights of the trip was our visit to the elephant breeding center. We got to interact with baby elephants and learn about the efforts being made to protect and conserve these gentle giants. It was heartwarming to see the love and care given to these animals. Overall, the 8-day tour was a perfect combination of cultural and wildlife experiences. The organization of the tour was seamless, and our tour guide was attentive to our needs and preferences. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the beauty of the Taj Mahal and the wildlife of Nepal. One thing to note is that the tour does involve a fair amount of walking and some rough terrain, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. Other than that, I have no complaints about this tour and would do it again in a heartbeat. In conclusion, the 8-day Taj Mahal tour with Nepal wildlife was an unforgettable journey filled with stunning sights, cultural immersion, and unique experiences. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well-rounded and enriching travel experience.

How To Reach

How To Reach: Himachal Pradesh Tourism And Travel Guide

Through the centuries the State has witnessed the reign of a number of independent and powerful rulers, Gorkha forces and the British leaders. Given its history, it is no surprise that there are such well-established the roadways that connect the different hills among themselves and with other cities in India . There are railways and airways available but you will find the road routes most reliable.

By Air: There are three domestic airports situated in three parts of the state. The Kullu - Manali Airport is a gateway to the northern parts of the state, like Manali, Spiti etc. The Kangra Airport at Gaggal is closest to Dalhousie and Dharamsala . The Shimla Airport is the southernmost airport, but services to this airport are not regular. Flight services are available from most Indian cities including Delhi , Mumbai , Chandigarh , etc.

By Rail: The Kalka railway station is as far as you can go in this hilly State. From Kalka, you can take the amusing narrow gauge toy-train up to Shimla and enjoy the scenic beauty that the hill-station has to offer. There are bus and taxi services to the rest of the State.

By Road: The well maintained and efficient roads that wind around the hills are perhaps the greatest asset of the state. They connect every city within the state and also connect Kashmir and Chandigarh through roads that are on every biker’s wish list. Parts of Himachal Pradesh are also connected to Delhi and Haryana. You will find a number of buses and taxis scouting these routes.

Weather and Best Time To Visit

Weather and Best Time To Visit: Himachal Pradesh Tourism And Travel Guide

The state of Himachal Pradesh encompasses very tall peaks, alpine forests and glaciers on one hand and warm meadows, rivers and flower-filled valleys on the other. The climate greatly depends on where you are and at what height your destination lies. In a broad sense, the state experiences three seasons - a long rainy season, a warm summer and a chilly winter.

If you are a romantic, the rainy season in Himachal will definitely attract you. The hazy evenings with clouds caressing the huge mountains will leave you mesmerized. Although most parts in Himachal experience good to heavy rain, there are some rain-shadow regions like Spiti and Lahaul for people who don’t want to get wet. Snow is common in the winters in Kullu , Manali and other northern cities. In the southern cities like Shimla and Dharamsala , winters are quiet but not as cold as the northern cities. Summer here is usually regarded as the tourist season as the weather is quite pleasant in most parts of the state. The state is bustling with activity around this time of the year. While valley regions can get a little hot, the hill-stations like Shimla and Manali offer an escape from the hot plains of the country.

Summer (April to June) is ideal for escaping the heat of the plains, while winter (November to February) attracts snow enthusiasts. Monsoon (July to September) brings lush greenery but also the risk of landslides. Depending on your preferences and the activities planned, choose the season that suits you best. So, you will not miss out on the best tourist place in Himachal Pradesh that you have in your mind. The best time to go to Himachal Pradesh will depend on your preference.

Destination Selection

Himachal Pradesh boasts several popular destinations such as Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, and Dalhousie, each offering unique experiences. Consider your interests, whether it’s adventure sports, spiritual retreats, or simply relaxing amidst nature, and choose Himachal Pradesh visit places accordingly.

Book your accommodation in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons, to ensure availability and favourable rates. Make sure to decide on the Himachal Pradesh visiting place so that you can book your accommodation accordingly.

When you frame your tour plan for Himachal Pradesh, determine the mode of transportation for your tour, whether it’s self-driving, hiring a private vehicle, or using public transport. Himachal Pradesh has a well-connected road network, but some remote areas may require hiring a local vehicle or trekking on foot.

The distance between these two is only about 112 km by road, which takes roughly 2 hours 30 minutes. You can also start from Delhi and go via Chandigarh, but that would take more than 7 hours. Travelling by road is best as the views gradually change, and it allows you to understand and soak in all the beauty of nature.

Day 2 - Explore Shimla

Shimla is one of the most popular destinations in Himachal Pradesh. There is a lot to do here, like riding the toy train, walking the mall road, paragliding, cycling, the list is endless. You cal also walk as far as you can, and lose yourself to nature. Then start cafe hopping in late afternoon.

Day 3 -Day trip to Mashobra

Mashobra is only 10 km away from Shimla, and you have to make it to this fine destination for a day trip. The Reserve Forest Sanctuary here is a must-visit, and so is the Tattapani River for river rafting experience. Mashobra is also home to some temples that you could visit, before returning to Shimla to spend the night.

Day 4 - Shimla to Manali

Start your day early, and head towards Manali. It should take around 6 hours by road. You could also fly from Shimla Airport to Bhuntar Airport, which is only an hour away from Manali, as that would save a lot of time. On this day in Manali, we suggest you take in the sights and sounds of this magnificent destination. It is truly breathtaking.

Day 5 - Solang Valley, Beas River

Whoever comes to Manali, must visit the breathtaking Solang Valley. While the destination is truly charming, the drive up to the valley is quite an alluring one. Here in Solang Valley you can experience paragliding, skiing, horse riding, or also hire an ATV bike and experience the thrill of it all. On your way back, stop by the Beas River, and take some time to contemplate by the river. Also, the views are perfect for photography.

Day 6- Go to Kasol

If you thought Manali is beautiful, wait until you reach Kasol. It is only about a 2 hour drive away from Manali, and nature gets progressively more untamed. The beautiful destination is perfect for soul-searchers, for those who want to spend a day without the intervention of usual city life, and societal rules. Situated in the Parvati Valley, it is one of Himachal Pradesh's crowning jewels.

Day 7 - Head back

Start early, and drive down to the Kalka Railway Station. You can catch a train to Delhi, or even towards eastern India, Howrah. On the other hand, you can even go to Shimla airport and catch a flight.

The Spring and Summer seasons coax the flowers to bloom, rivers to gush, forests to volumize and the snow to gradually melt away. Nestled among the Himalayas, the winter season can be extremely alluring to the eyes, but equally as frigid! Sightseers can comfortably explore Himachal’s quaint villages, monasteries, and markets. Even during summers, the night time temperatures often mimic the winter, while the days have the perfect contrast in between. How to Reach Himachal Pradesh

Reaching Himachal is not a daunting task as well maintained, prolific highway network, multiple airports, and broad-gauge railheads make Himachal Pradesh easily accessible.

Kangra Airport in Gaggal, the Shimla Airport in Jubberhatti, and the Kullu-Manali Airport in Bhuntar are connected to all major cities in India including Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Bangalore. Many travellers fly into Chandigarh airport and choose ground transportation to begin their Himachal Pradesh tours.

The Kangra Valley Railway is the mainline connecting Jogindernagar in Himachal Pradesh to Pathankot in neighboring Punjab. Himachal Pradesh's stunning yet inhospitable terrain hampers the construction of new railway lines, but the existing ones are more than sufficient to cater to travellers without too many delays. There's also the famous Toy Train that connects Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. This idyllic 6-hour journey allows you to begin your Himachal tour as soon as you take your seat.

A total of 8 national and 19 state highways offer various scenic routes for the slow, intentional traveller. Escape unreliable flights and travel by car from many states such as Haryana, Delhi, Kashmir, Chandigarh, and Punjab. The Delhi-Himachal route is the smoothest of the lot with the others getting a bit bumpy in stretches. Embark on this 7-hour journey by car or one of the many buses operated by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation between Delhi, Shimla, Manali, Kullu, and Khajjiar.

Local Transport Within Himachal Pradesh

The cheapest way to travel within Himachal Pradesh is to take local public transport. Buses rickshaws, shared shuttles and taxis are readily available. Rickshaws, shuttles and taxis have specific areas of operation and do not go beyond their zones.

Though buses aren’t the first choice of many, they are an ideal and cost-effective travel option. The local buses are one of the best ways to see the small hamlets and towns along the way that you might have missed otherwise. You can even opt for a taxi if you’re travelling with a group, otherwise it may prove to be expensive. There are also Himachal holiday packages available for those looking for a convenient and memorable experience.
