Kalush Orchestra announce North American tour, with proceeds going to support Ukraine

Eurovision reigning champions Kalush Orchestra have announced a North American tour, spanning two countries and thirteen cities, including Los Angeles and New York.
Kalush Orchestra frontman Oleh Psiuk announced the tour on his Instagram story. It will begin in Seattle on 20th October and conclude in Toronto on 6th November.
Proceeds from the tour will go to Help Heroes of Ukraine, an organisation which is supporting Ukrainian families affected by the war.

Since their Eurovision victory, Kalush Orchestra have been raising money and awareness to support Ukraine in the war effort.
In May, the band auctioned their glass microphone trophy in aid of the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation, which helps support the Ukrainian Army.
The Eurovision 2022 trophy sold for $900,000 to the WhiteBIT cryptocurrency community.
The band also staged a raffle for the signature pink bucket hat, which frontman Oleh wore onstage in Turin.
A grand total of 11,000,000 hryvnas were collected in the raffle for the pink bucket hat, which is almost 350,000€. The winner of the bucket hat was selected at random during a live-streamed auction on Instagram.
Kalush Orchestra are not the only Ukrainian Eurovision artists who are touring abroad in order to promote Ukrainian culture and identity to a wider audience. Eurovision 2020 and 2021 participants Go_A are embarking on a European tour, similarly to raise funds to help Ukraine.
In a statement on Instagram, Go_A spoke about the importance of Ukrainian artists showcasing their music during a time of war:
We believe that our concerts draw attention to our unique Ukrainian culture and we do our best not to let people around the world forget that the war is still going on here.
We are doing everything to debunk the myth that Ukraine is part of Russia. Ukraine is an original country with its own history, its own language and its own sovereign territory. So it has always been, so it is and so it will be.

The Seattle show was fantastic! My favorite concert experience in a long time. Powerful & energizing & the projections were perfect.
Conversation with and American: Kalush orchestra is coming to town What is that? The ones who won Eurovision. The what?
North Americans dont give a sh*t about songs sung in what they consider strange languages.
Speak for yourself. I love Kalush Orchestra and I’m learning Ukrainian so I can understand them. True most American are ignorant idiots but not all of us. I didn’t ask to be born here.
Also: San Francisco – just bought tix and can’t wait! 🙂
Philadelphia!!! Going
Heroes. They will be popular and help Ukraine with additional positive PR … contributing to this madness to stop.
You do realize there are many Eastern Europeans who live in America and Canada. Lots of Russian speakers. I’m sure they’d know who Kulash is.
I’m glad more and more ESC artists are touring outside of Europe. I’ve got tickets to see Måneskin in Chicago in november. Maybe if my schedule permits I could see Kalush too <3
I will say though all those jumps day by day from city to city sounds a bit ambitious since many of these cities are not close to each other. I hope the group also makes sure to rest and take care of themselves though all this
How much of the tickets cost?
No Vancouver or Edmonton? That’s a mistake: there are huge Ukrainian diaspora communities around both cities.
Well, there’s also a sizeable Ukrainian community in several Mexican cities and they’re not gonna tour here either 🙁
Seattle?! For real? Tickets purchased! So excited!
And thanks for putting this on my radar!
Oh my god… Måneskin era
Every night, I pray for Ukraine to win, survive, and succeed during Russia’s senseless war.

🇺🇦 🇮🇱 Kalush Orchestra, Netta announce tour dates in the US and beyond
American Eurofans like myself are cheering this week, because not one but two Eurovision winners have now announced performances stateside! Both will be performing in my city, and I’ll definitely try to make at least one show.
Kalush Orchestra’s dates span November and see the Eurovision 2022 winners performing in the US and Canada, while Netta, who won for Israel in 2018, takes “the Wonderful and Great Tour” to the US, UK, Netherlands, and Germany this fall.
The tours will converge in the US’ capital city, Washington D. C., during the first full week of November; Netta will perform there on Thursday the 9th, and Kalush follows three days later on the 12th.
Kalush Orchestra: North America 2023
The Ukrainian band kicks off their tour in Vancouver, Canada, on November 1st, and will perform in California, Texas, the Northeast and Midwest regions, and Florida before returning to Canada for five more shows during the last week of November.
Kalush announced the tour via Instagram, but the tour will feature all six members of the Kalush Orchestra project group.
Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022 with their song “Stefania”. Throughout the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia, “Stefania” has become a song of resistance and solidarity among the Ukrainian people.

Netta: “The Wonderful and Great Tour”
Netta starts her tour in September, where she will perform in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Cologne. She then resumes it in November, beginning her US leg in yours truly’s hometown of Philadelphia, and will play across the East Coast and in California before her final show in Denver, Colorado.
These shows were announced back in May, but we’re re-upping them in light of Kalush Orchestra’s tour announcement.
Netta won Eurovision for Israel in 2018 with her female-empowerment song “Toy”.

Saskatoon gets bigger musical acts than Regina. Would a new arena for YQR move the needle?
Population and venue size are only part of the issue, says one production company owner.
Social Sharing
Garth Brooks may have packed Mosaic Stadium in 2019 — but post pandemic, Regina's $278 million stadium and adjacent but aging Brandt Centre have struggled to recruit major music acts over Saskatoon's SaskTel Centre
"The [Regina] stadium is a beautiful facility, and I think perhaps the citizens were sold sort of a false bill of goods when it came to 'If you build it, they will come,'" said Chad Guy, owner of Chad Guy Productions, who's currently the production manager for American singer Morgan Wallen.
"That's just not the case unfortunately in this business where we need to make money. It takes ticket sales to do that."
- 'This is why we built the stadium,' Regina mayor says as Garth Brooks concert announced
Saskatoon has just seen a flurry of international artists announcing tour dates, with Snoop Dogg, Billy Idol and Heart all announcing SaskTel Centre as their sole Saskatchewan stops on upcoming tours.
"Saskatoon, it seems every other day or every other week there's a concert announcement. This past week, there has been four concert announcements, boom, boom, boom, boom, and we got nothing," said music fan Nathan Clearihue.
He said he chose the house he bought mainly for its proximity to Mosaic Stadium and the Brandt Centre, but with the exception of acts like Brooks in 2019 and Guns and Roses in 2017, it's been quiet on the music front at the venues.
Clearihue's hoping the potential new arena that's been discussed for the city's downtown might help with that. Saskatoon's SaskTel Centre has a seating capacity of about 15,000 seats, while the Brandt Centre has fewer than 6,000. Then there's Edmonton and Calgary, with bigger facilities and more people.
"We need something with more capacity, then we can start attracting bigger names. We can maybe steal a couple of shows from Saskatoon," Clearihue said.
That's also the hope for the city's mayor, who says a new arena for the city includes plans for about 10,000 seats, plus capacity for around 1,000 floor seats.
"The question becomes, we're competing with larger and more competitive buildings," Sandra Masters said during an interview on CBC's The Morning Edition .
What are Regina residents willing to pay?
Ticket sales are also a major issue. Most agree that Reginans aren't typically willing to shell out $200 a ticket for a major concert.
"I hear from individuals, 'If you booked Elton John, I would buy the ticket,'" Masters noted. "You don't have the building to book the act so you can't sell the tickets. And it's a bit of a relationship and a momentum gain. You have to have consistency in delivering events and you have to have the venue."
This music industry insider gets real about why Regina doesn't get big concerts
That consistency and reputation for being able to put on concerts and sell tickets is definitely missing in Regina, said Guy.
"I will say that the concert business is a very tight-knit community, and a lot of these shows and opportunities are based on relationships that are formed over 20 to 30 years of doing business with promoters," he said.
Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL), a not-for-profit municipal corporation that oversees Regina's sports and entertainment facilities, hasn't had a staff member who has built these kind of relationships that would address the problem, he said.
"Now the big challenge post-COVID is that when the world was shut down for two years and we didn't get to do concerts and all these things, you forget how to do it," he said, explaining it's a challenge for staff to build up the muscle memory for staging and hosting these kind of major productions.
REAL challenges
Tim Reid, former president for REAL District, touched on the difficulty in attracting acts to Regina in the past and through the course of the pandemic, as he spoke to city council about the organization's mounting debt load.
- REAL must pay back $8M after audit on pandemic wage subsidy
- City of Regina questions sustainability of REAL business model, as company seeks to take on debt
Since Reid was dismissed without cause in January, Roberta Engels is now serving as REAL's acting president and CEO.
She agreed it is difficult for Regina to convince acts to come play the city's arena, due to its smaller capacity.
"It's been since pre-COVID before we've actually sold out a concert," she said. "That being said, I do want to highlight the fact that we have brought in some amazing acts during QC EX [Queen City Ex] and have hit record attendance."
Acts like Jason Derulo and Flo Rida have played the annual exhibition in the past, with Ludacris slated to play the Ex this year — all signs that REAL District does have the connections to bring these acts to the city, she said.
So how does REAL convince these acts to come to the fair? With the Queen City Ex, REAL pays for the act so that the concert promoter doesn't take on any loss for making the stop, she said.
"In the Brandt Centre, there's the option of buying a concert, which means REAL would take 100 per cent of the risk on," she explained, saying REAL has to consider the act's popularity and the likelihood of selling out the arena.
"If we have a break even that's greater than 75 per cent of ticket sales, we won't even pursue it. We need to manage our risk."
Engel and Guy agree on one thing: for the city to attract concerts, people need to show their willingness to buy tickets and come out to events.
"Regina's a city that seems to have gotten used to the attitude that it's OK to be just OK," Guy said.
He said that translates into people's support of the arts.
He believes that a new arena may not on its own bring in more concerts, without hiring the right person or people for REAL to guide change.
"It's going to take someone with a real commitment and relationships to fix this problem."

Charli XCX and Troye Sivan Team Up for Massive, Co-Headlining Sweat Tour Across North America
The British avant-pop artist and the Australian hitmaker will be hitting the road together across the U.S. and Canada in fall 2024
Don Arnold/WireImage, Karwai Tang/WireImage
Charli XCX and Troye Sivan are about to transform arenas across North America into raves from "1999."
The British hyperpop phenom, 31, and the Aussie pop star, 28, announced on Wednesday, April 17 that they're going on a joint headlining tour in 2024 titled Charli XCX & Troye Sivan present: Sweat. The run of 21 shows is a highly anticipated effort among fans of the two stars, who have long been friends and frequent collaborators.
The hitmakers — who collaborated on "1999" and "2099" off the 2019 album Charli — will play a handful arenas across the U.S. and Canada in the fall. The "Von Dutch" singer and the "Rush" singer will hit the road together in mid-September, kicking off Sweat in Detroit on Sept. 14.
Harley Weir
The superstars will play throughout September and into October, eventually wrapping up on Oct. 23 in Seattle. They'll make stops at iconic venues like New York City's Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles' Kia Forum, in addition to major cities like Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and others.
Charli XCX and Sivan will also bringing along a special opening act: the British alt-hip-hop/electronic star Shygirl .
Stuart Winecoff
According to a press release, fans can expect the "Vroom Vroom" artist and the "One of Your Girls" singer to turn "venues into raves."
Their co-headlining concerts are set to feature "exhilarating performances, stunning visuals, and infectious beats," and act as "a testament to their commitment to inclusivity and diversity within the music industry," per the release.
Both of the avant-pop musicians shared a tour teaser on Instagram . The brief clip features flashing imagery of the two singers, along with minimalist, brightly colored posters with the tour dates that appear to be inspired by rave flyers.
Sweat comes nearly one year after Sivan released his acclaimed, third studio album Something to Give Each Other in October 2023. The project's lead single, " Rush ," garnered to nominations for best pop dance recording at best dance video at the 2024 Grammys .
The upcoming string of live dates will also come on the heels of the release of Charli XCX's new album Brat , which is due out on Friday, June 7.
The Pop 2 artist kicked off the album release cycle of her follow up to 2022's Crash in late February when she dropped "Von Dutch." Since then, she's released a remix of the track featuring Addison Rae and her longtime producer A.G. Cook, as well as the singles "Club classics" and "B2b."
Live Nation
Sweat won't be the only time Charli XCX is hitting the road this year. In addition to a handful of festival dates this spring and summer, she'll also be playing a short stint of headlining gigs in support of the release of Brat in N.Y.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, Mexico City and São Paulo in June.
