India's tour of West Indies 2023, full schedule: Rohit Sharma and Co. to play 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is in Caribbean

Rohit sharma and co. are set to play 2 tests, 3 odis and 5 t20is against the west indies in the caribbean..

After a bitter-sweet campaign in the recently concluded edition of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC), Rohit Sharma 's Team India will travel to the Caribbean for a multi-format tour in July and August. Two-time runners-up India will launch their bid for an elusive ICC Test Mace in the third edition of the WTC against the West Indies. Team India is scheduled to play a two-Test series against the West Indies in July.

The two-match Test series that will be a part of the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship, is scheduled to get underway with the curtain-raiser at Windsor Park in Dominica (12-16 July). The second Test will be contested from July 20 to July 24 at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. The series decider will be the 100th Test match played between India and the West Indies.

“We are delighted to be able to confirm the schedule and venues for the highly anticipated visit by India. One of the highlights will be the 100th Test at the Queen’s Park Oval and this promises to be a fantastic occasion as we celebrate this historic event between these two proud cricketing nations,” said Johnny Grave, who is also the CEO of Cricket West Indies (CWI).

The Test series is followed by three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and the first 50-over contest will be held at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on July 27. The second ODI will also take place in Barbados on July 29 while Trinidad is set to host the series decider on 1 August at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. India will also play a five-match T20I series from August 3 to August 13. Guyana National Stadium and Brian Lara Cricket Academy are the venues for the five-match T20I series.

“We also look forward to hosting India in the white ball fixtures and welcoming fans to attend the matches across the region, as well as in the United States. It will be 18 days of entertainment for cricket lovers to enjoy and savour,” Grave added.

IND vs WI 3rd T20I Highlights: Indian seamers fired in unison after Suryakumar Yadav’s belligerent fifty as the hosts coasted to a series-sweeping 17-run win over the West Indies in the third and final T20I on Sunday. After Deepak Chahar limped off the field after failing to complete the third over due to a hamstring injury, Harshal Patel (3/22), Venkatesh Iyer (2/23 from 2.1 overs) and Shardul Thakur (2/33) performed their tasks impressively to defend India’s 184/5. Wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran continued his fine form slamming a third successive fifty (61 off 47 balls; 8×4, 1×6) but it was not enough as West Indies managed just 167 for nine.

Shardul removes half-centurion Nicholas Pooran. A massive wicket for India. Shardul Thakur strikes as Pooran walks back after an excellent knock of 61. He went hard at one and got a top-edge, Ishan took an amazing catch. Fabian Allen comes to the crease. WI are 14/7 after 18 overs.

India had a chance  to remove Romario Shepherd, who has hit a couple of big sixes since coming out to bat. Bishnoi forced a false shot from Shepherd but Venkatesh couldn't hold on to a tough catch. WI are 125/6 after 15 overs.

That's the end of the powerplay and West Indies are 68/2. This is the second highest Powerplay score for WI against India in T20Is. WI going strong with Powell and Pooran in the middle. 

West Indies are flying at the moment! Shardul Thakur's first over goes for 18. Another Power partnership building up between Powell and Pooran. West Indies walking away with this game. WI are 60/2 after 5 overs.

Pooran brings up two boundaries in the next over to add to their score. The double P duo back together again looking to repeat the partnership in game two after the loss of Hope and Mayers. Avesh has struggled to find his length and the Windies have capitalised. Pooran and Powell have hit the ground running. WI are 42/2 after 4 overs.

That was an exciting start to the innings by West Indies. Eventful over for Mayers. Given out LBW, used DRS to survive. Given not out caught behind, India use DRS to get their first wicket. IND vs WI: BCCI allows bigger crowds at Eden Gardens for final T20I

The third T20I between India and West Indies on Sunday will have a bigger crowd attendance after the BCCI’s permission to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). The CAB had requested the BCCI to allow spectators in the upper blocks of all the stands at Eden. However, the cricket board has granted permission for the third and final game of the series.

“As discussed with other OB, as per your request, you can open up for the last T20 match against West Indies at Eden,” BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has emailed to CAB chief Avishek Dalmiya.

West Indies A will tour Nepal for a T20I series from April 27. Here’s everything you need to know about the schedule of the WI-A vs NEP 2024 T20Is, including the full fixtures list, match timings and venues.

The first T20I will be played on April 27, followed by the second and the third matches on April  28 and May 1, respectively. The remaining two matches will be held on May 2 and 4. Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur will host all the encounters.

The tour, a first for a West Indian side in Nepal, “serves as another phase in preparation leading up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024,” West Indies’ chief selector Desmond Haynes said in a statement. “It presents an invaluable opportunity to get our players who are not in the IPL back on the park playing competitive T20 cricket, as well as provides the chance for us to expose a few emerging prospects.”

Fabian Allen, Johnson Charles, Mark Deyal, Andre Fletcher, Obed McCoy and Hayden Walsh are all part of the side, which will be led by Roston Chase , with Alick Athanaze as his deputy.

Zimbabwe cricketer Sikandar Raza slammed a section of fans on social media who were judgemental about the reception that West Indies cricket players received upon their arrival in Nepal for a 5-match T20 series. A video of the luggage of West Indies players being loaded in a mini-truck went viral on social media on Thursday and quite a few took a dig at Nepal for not arranging better facilities for the touring team.

Sikandar Raza said he is fully confident that Nepal would prove to be great hosts and that West Indies players are not going to complain about anything during their stay in the Asian country. The video shows the players, accustomed to a certain standard of treatment as professional athletes, walking up to the modest vehicle waiting to transport their gear.

It was a momentous occasion for Nepal cricket as West Indies, once powerhouses of world cricket, were visiting Nepal for the first time in the history of the sport. Roston Chase, who is in the mix for the T20 World Cup, will the West Indies A team in their 5-match T20 series against Nepal's senior men's team.

The West Indies A team comprises promising T20 talents like Hayden Walsh, Keemo Paul, and Keacy Carty, alongside seasoned pace bowlers Obed McCoy and Oshane Thomas. The tour holds significant importance as it serves as another phase in preparation leading up to the T20 World Cup, starting June 1 in the USA and the West Indies.

“I am confident this Nepal tour marks a crucial step forward in our preparatory phase for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. It presents an invaluable opportunity to get our players who are not in the IPL back on the park playing competitive T20 cricket as well as provides the chance for us to expose a few emerging prospects," Desmond Haynes, West Indies' selection committee chief said earlier in the week.
