6 month visit visa Dubai 2024

Are you one of those people who are worried about how to stay in Dubai for three months? Do you also want to know whether Dubai allows a six-month visa or not? Do you wish to know the process of obtaining a visa for six months in the UAE?

The answer to the question is that it is possible to get a 6-month visa in Dubai if you are a professional, a bright student, an investor or an entrepreneur. However, even if you do not belong to any of these categories, it is still possible to live for six months in Dubai by contacting a local tourism agency. You can opt for the extension that gives you the option to stay there for six months without exit.

1. Six months visit visa in UAE for visitors belonging to a special category

On July 17, 2019, an official spokesperson of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship mentioned an important point. People visiting UAE can now renew their six-month visa for multiple entry visits for another six months if they apply through the system of Ministry of Interior e-channels.

2. Eligibility

People who want to apply for this particular visa have to be a student, a professional, entrepreneurs, or investors. These individuals should be contemplating a residency visa for the long term in the UAE. If they have a six-month visa for multiple entry, they will get an opportunity to explore the local environment of the UAE. They can also initiate their paperwork to get a long-term visa.

3. Application process

· Submit your visa application through Echannels or the immigration system

· An immigration officer will receive your visa application

· They would check all your documents but return your application in case of any defects

· The application will be included when the documents are complete.

· The cost of a six-month visit visa is 2500 AED.

4. Documents Required

· Colored photo

· Passport of the dependent

· Three years bank deposit amounting to 10,000,000 AED

8. The two different options for extending your stay in Dubai are:

1. Get an on-arrival visa (free) stamped at the Dubai airport. So, if we include the grace period, you can stay for forty days in Dubai. A new visa can be provided to you on the thirty-eighth day without leaving the country.

Tourists in the UAE on a 30 or 60 days visit visa can extend their stay within the country by another 30 days. The decision by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) grants visitors an additional 30 days to explore and enjoy the country’s diverse offerings.

The UAE has implemented several changes in its visa procedures since October last year, marking one of the largest residency and entry permit reforms by the ICP (Immigration and Citizenship Program). Since then, several developments have taken place in the visit visa system of the country.

As per the ICA website, individuals holding a visit visa of 30 or 60 days will now be eligible for an additional 30-day stay, and the maximum extension period for a visit visa holder is 120 days.

A call centre representative of Amer Centre said that a visit visa extension within the country is possible and “one must contact their visa issuing agent to for the extension."

Maximum extension

According to a call centre representative at ICP, it is possible to obtain a visa extension within the country for a period of 30 days. This extension applies to both long-term and short-term visit visas. However, it is important to note that the total duration of stay within a year should not exceed 120 days.

The call centre executive clarified, “If a visitor is on a 30 days visa, the extension can be possible up to 120 days (30 days on each extension),” added the executive.

Procedure for extension

"If a tourist or a visitor would like to extend their stay, they should contact the issuing travel agent or sponsor," said Firose Khan, operation manager at Arabian Business Centre.

"Your sponsor or travel agent who issued the visa can provide you with information on the extension process, required documentation, fees, and any other relevant details. It's important to initiate this process well before your current visa's expiration to allow sufficient time for the extension to be processed," added Khan.

Documentation required

The visitor’s passport is required to extend a visit visa. The issuing agent will provide more details on the required documents.

Time duration for extension

The process may take a few days from submitting the documents depending on your travel agent who applies for the service. However, on the ICP website, the “time to complete the service after its requirements are completed is 48 hours,”

Extension charges:

“The cost of extension for a month is Dh1,050,” said Khan.

The GDRFA elaborated the costs of extension and gave a breakdown of the rates on their website.

Visa extension fee: Dh600, in addition to the value-added tax (5%).

Additional fees (if the sponsored person is inside the country):

Knowledge dirham : Dh10

Innovation dirham : Dh10

Fee inside the country: Dh500

The website also mentioned, “The total amount of the visa may vary depending on the circumstances surrounding the sponsored person or for any other reasons that may require that,”

On ICP website, the cost vary.

Request fee: Dh100

Issuance fee: Dh500, and other related charges are applicable.

The website also mentions the application for an extension of entry permit for tourism is made through the tourism companies. Agents have urged the visitors to leave the country before the visa expiry or extend their visas to avoid attracting any penalties or difficulties while exiting.

This extension caters to various purposes, including tourism, family visits, business meetings, and other personal matters. "Visitors can utilise this extra time to explore the country's iconic landmarks, indulge in shopping, savour culinary delights, or simply relax in the UAE's world-class hospitality," said Khan.

Requirements for Getting a 6-Month Visa

The first step is to check whether you are qualified to apply for this temporary visa. As a basic requirement, you should be willing to apply for amnesty in Dubai. Then, you should visit the nearest TASHEEL center where you will submit the following documents:

  • Original passport
  • Copy of Visa or Visa Status
  • Copy of Emirates ID for those who have employment visa
  • Passport photos
  • 640 AED for the payment

Note that it would take a minimum of 3 working days before you get your visa. Also, the only sponsor of this visa is you, which is why you agreed to apply for amnesty. This should not worry you since there are a lot of opportunities in Dubai and 6 months would be real enough.

Is the 6-Month Temporary Visa Renewable?

Unfortunately, no. you can only get this temporary visa once. When expired, you can either apply for a new residence visa if you find your employer or apply for a visit visa instead. As the director of Residence Affairs at the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Al Rashid, said: “People seeking employment can avail of the privilege to obtain a six-month temporary visa through the “Protect Yourself by Modifying your Status” amnesty initiative if they have a sponsor. But if they don’t find a job within that period, they will have to leave the country and maybe return on visit visa because temporary visas cannot be renewed on expiration.”

As a responsible citizen of your own country, it won’t be that hard to follow these provisions uncovered by the UAE authorities. Applying for the temporary visa is simple and once it has expired, you still have the option to whether to renew a residence visa or visit visa. The emirate has a lot of alternatives for you, so as to say. If in case you still stayed in the country without a new visa, be prepared to face punishments.
