Top 4 airlines serving from london to amsterdam.
KLM is my favourite airline. Never ever let us down.Staff are first class.
It was operated by Delta. Boarding took a long time. How difficult can it be? Overall decent trip. Liked the Salt Lake City airport. Better option than Chicago for transfers.
Put some new and several options for entertainment. Do not be rude to customers and avoid serving them an extra coke or something. We paid 1200 GBP for a return flight.. A noisy, crowded, rude and uncomfortable flight.
Pretty bad. Food was awful. drinks were scarce, as if drinking an extra drink would ruin the airline. attendants were not very helpful. likely Dutch "directedness" (I cannot be bothered). Crammed flight. Entertainment in very minimal dosage. Almost all old movies and series with 1-3 episodes only. Very limited number of options available. Jesus!! it seems you need to bring your own entertainment these days even of flights that are 13 hrs long!! I would and I will avoid in the future!
Quick and efficient as always. Air France managed to loose and damage my luggage that never made it onto my KLM flight.
The food from Lagos to Amsterdam was was very poor compared to AMS-YYZ
The flight was again delayed for more then 2 hours with some lousy explanation regarding the reason of the delay. Although the flight was delayed for more than 2 hours, no refreshments were offered (according to EU regulations). Last 4 flights on KLM - always at least 2 hrs late. So be prepared that you cannot plan anything with KLM.
Booked connecting flights with KlM. My serving flight was the furthest part of the airport. On arrival in Zurich. My two cases arrived but only one carry on belong to my son. His three suitcase didn't arrive. After enquiring we discovered they were still in Amsterdam. We landed at 11.12. We eventually left the airport just after one.
Seats are fair enough for medium tall people. Good food all the trip. Fight attendances are warm
I thought KLM was the best airline but the Lima - Amsterdam was 1 hours late, the Brussels - Amsterdam was 2.30 hours late and the Amsterdam - Lima was 30 minutes late
The boarding process would have been better. When people are flying internationally and the airline is a member of Star Alliance they cannot have different rules for carryon baggage. Brussels Airlines made us adjust the weight of our carryons based on their rules even though we were flying international and our next flight was with United which does not have weight restrictions for carryons. That was just ridiculous.
We waited in line for more than 30 minutes to go through the check in (after the staff summoned us). Once on the plane we had to wait almost two hours before takeoff. The copilot said that it was not their fault but that the plane had arrived late in the first place and lost the slot to leave again because of the heavy traffic, This is completely understandable in our times, but I would have expected a little bit of pampering from the staff. We received a tiny little cup of water because we complained. Not a coffee, not a cookie, no music on the plane, no plugs to recharge your cellphone. It was very cold inside the plane and someone asked for a blanket for a baby - very harsh answer from the staff, no blankets on this plane. I think they should review their instructions and team spirit as traveling is also the experience, not only getting from A to B. And it’s not fun to interact with staff that doesn’t seem like they are enjoying their job. And as far as I know and judging from the cost of the ticket Brussels Airlines it’s not even a low cost!
Terrible seats. Whoever designed the seats should try taking a long flight in it themselves.
The crew and the flight were excellent, the food might be better!
This was absolutely one of the worst experiences of my life. I came to Europe for a 2 week trip and the airline was probably the most disorganized airline I’ve ever seen in my life. They lost my luggage. I had tracking on it for just such an occasion and told them EXACTLY where it was in the terminal and they somehow failed to get it out on the flight that night, since we were leaving for Switzerland the next day there was no way they would get it to our hotel in time. Seriously, take another airline at any cost. It’s not worth whatever you pay…you’ll end up paying a lot more in the end. My medication is in the bag and I can’t get to it and don’t know how I will get it.
I missed my connecting flight due to long lines at security and immigration. Need improvements
Food quality is deteriorating each time, last year was very good. I avoid the plane food lately.
Been flying on various airlines, all over the world, for 50+ years. The food on Brussels Air was easily the worst I ever endured.
I felt the overall quality of the plane and food service was less than that of their partner airlines, United. An example was wine was served in paper cups in premium economy class. There was no real silverware, napkins or a welcome kit other than a pillow and blanket.
Boarding time was a bit slow causing the flight to not leave right at 5 pm,but other than that it was fine.
Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late. This contradicted the information on the airport boards. This was extremely confusing and we very nearly missed the flight purely because we double checked with the info desk when the flight stays said’closed’. Kayak notifications are therefore unreliable and pointlesa
i didnt go this was a hacker booked this flight on my debit card !
Delayed almost 2 hours sitting on plane. No updates at all from flight deck and virtually no updates from cabin crew
I was charged at the gate for bags I had already paid for. There was no other option. I am trying diligently thought easyJet website but making no progress HELP!
Be sure to check bags for 23 kg,.(50 lbs) Coming from US I chose the wrong size luggage weight when I checked in on my phone, and had to pay more when I dropped it off
The on board air steward really made the journey. He was very entertaining
I was disappointed there was a 40 minute delay to flight
The trip itself was good. I have given only good as rating, because my first flight has been cancelled by a different airline and that caused disruption in my trip. I spent over ten hours in Luton airport and that caused me high tiredness, sickness, because of the very early initial trip. easyJet staff has been professional and friendly.
Very pleasant crew, working hard on a full plane. Delay by a broken seat. However crew made back 60% of the delay.
Delayed and then further delayed with no announcement made so that all the passengers (who were standing in the jetty) could hear. We stood there for well over 20 minutes. We were further delayed through weather but no one explained that to us until the pilot made an announcement when finally on board
Flight on time. Food was poor - low quality and hard to eat due to poor layout
Experience was probably the best I’ve had on BA for a long time. Only thing is A380 is old now and it needs upgrading. The en re attainment screens are very small and the touchscreen barely works.
Unreliable for flight to and from Paris - taken 6 flights this year and delayed on the way back every single time - very frustrating. And to top it all up - baggage delays are horrendous
Disaster out of City Airport with our flight cancelled and very little help.
The onboard service makes it extremely difficult and slow to go to the toilet
Flight OK but they only loaded half of the checked bags on. This they only told us on arrival
Flight cancelled! Rebooked by circuitous routing although there were seats available on other nonstop flights.
My experience was very disappointing. Firstly I was unable to check in using the kiosks. Secondly even though I purchased a flight with one checked bag, I was told at the counter that a checked bag was not included in my flight booking. And I had to pay for my bag. At the check in counter, the airline representative was very arrogant and demeaning. She insisted on charging me £140 for the luggage. And said it was an automatic charge calculated by the scale. This didn’t make sense to me. As it was 0.5 kg overweight. Which only required me to remove 2 bottles of water. Having an extensive flight schedule that involved multiple flights included NY and Brussels, this leg of my flight was the most stressful and unpleasant.
Service of the crews were great. Food on flight was very greasy, and salty.
Sardine can herringbone layout in business class. Uncomfortable and nowhere to put your book, phone, headphones, etc. worst hard product ever, and the service and food aren’t good enough to make it worthwhile. Expensive garbage. British Airways purchased this thinking only about financials, clearly not customer experience. British Airways business class is the garbage truck of the skies. Hard pass!

Top 3 airlines serving from london to amsterdam.
KLM is my favourite airline. Never ever let us down.Staff are first class.
The plane. Airbus A330-200. Comfortable for a 7-hour flight. Seats seemed to have more legroom. I was in row 17. Flight was operated by Delta but was better than expected.
I thought KLM was the best airline but the Lima - Amsterdam was 1 hours late, the Brussels - Amsterdam was 2.30 hours late and the Amsterdam - Lima was 30 minutes late
no issues at all... Kudos to the food. This time was really really good
Kayak sent several notifications that the flight was late.
Nothing! The service was excellent for accessibly challenged passengers, Used lift and all support personnel very helpful. Will fly again.
Hard pass!
Horrible. I bought a flight with British airlines from Amsterdam to Orlando via London. Less than a day they changed my flight to London so I had to fly to London city airport and then find my way to Gatwick for my connecting flight. It was very costly
I never travelled better and more comfortably than with this flight because I was upgraded to the business class! it was amazing in every aspect. I was able to lay down and sleep, and the food was comparable to a gourmet restaurant menu. The flight was not only on time, but even much earlier, the crew was excellent as well. It felt like a very nice reward after so many uncomfortable and frustrating travels in the past decades. Even though most of my past trips were not with BA, they gave me a memorable gift with this favor. Thank you British Airways!

Top 3 airlines serving from london to amsterdam.
KLM is my favourite airline. Never ever let us down.Staff are first class.
I thought KLM was the best airline but the Lima - Amsterdam was 1 hours late, the Brussels - Amsterdam was 2.30 hours late and the Amsterdam - Lima was 30 minutes late
no issues at all... Kudos to the food. This time was really really good
Delayed almost 2 hours sitting on plane.
We were further delayed through weather but no one explained that to us until the pilot made an announcement when finally on board
easyJet need to ensure that whether pre-booking seats or not children aren’t split from their parents the crew spent the majority of boarding asking passengers to move to accommodate two families. Surely the system identifies minors on a booking !!!!! It was all very frustrating to watch and caused delays which I’m sure cost easyJet more in the long run rather that automatically allocating families with minors seats together automatically.
Not great! Rude staff in London and the worse baggage reclaim I’ve ever seen. Great staff in flight but doubt I’ll fly with them again
Hard pass!
Aircraft delayed for two hours due to a technical issue with the rear emergency exit door slide not working.
No entertainment system, but it is a short flight so that is not a big deal.
What a great flight that was. Leaving from the small London City Airport, which was easy and convenient to get to on public transport, The flight was slightly delayed, but no big deal. The crew was attentive and served the light sandwich meal, a snack and a soft drink with a smile. The seats were ok, but the same like other budget airlines. The onboard luggage allowance was good and way better and hassle free compared with budget airlines. Well done B.A. and keep the good work up 👍👏

With the city center bustling with friendly faces and the Centraal Station being a hub of connections, getting around is a breeze. Safety was never a worry for me, even when exploring the vibrant Red Light District or enjoying a late-night canal cruise.
Key Takeaways:
- Amsterdam’s welcoming atmosphere: Ideal for solo travelers, including solo female travel in Amsterdam.

The Best Time To Visit Amsterdam
Spring in Amsterdam dazzles with its mild weather, making it an ideal time for solo travelers to explore the city. As the days grow longer and warmer, the tulip fields near Amsterdam bloom spectacularly, a sight not to be missed. During this season, tourist crowds haven’t reached their peak, offering a more relaxed atmosphere for wandering through the nine streets or taking a leisurely bike tour around the Amsterdam city center.
Notably, spring hosts a variety of local festivals, from the King’s Day celebrations in April to the Open Garden Days in June. These events provide solo travelers with an excellent opportunity to immerse themselves in Dutch culture and connect with locals and other travelers alike.
Getting To Amsterdam From Schiphol Airport
Landing at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, you’ll find yourself at the gateway to one of Europe’s most enchanting cities . Several options are at your disposal to reach the heart of Amsterdam. First off, the train, a favorite amongst many, offers a swift journey to Amsterdam Centraal. Running frequently, it ensures you’re city center-bound in no time, and that too, without burning a hole in your pocket.
Buses form another viable alternative, connecting the airport with various parts of the city, marking both convenience and cost-effectiveness. The airport bus is how I traveled into Amsterdam city center and it was very easy and clean. My only advice is to check for local holidays before making your transfer plans. I unknowingly arrived during the King’s Day celebrations so the bus couldn’t take us as far into the city as normal. It wasn’t the end of the world walking several more blocks but I wish I had known beforehand.
For those prioritizing comfort, taxis and ride-share services stand ready to whisk you directly to your hotel, ensuring safety and peace of mind, especially late at night. Each mode of transport boasts its own charm, laying out Amsterdam’s welcome mat in the way that best suits your solo travel vibe.
Getting the Eurostar to Amsterdam
The idea of zipping through the countryside, crossing the channel, and arriving in Amsterdam has always captivated me. For those of us journeying from the UK, this train offers a seamless, direct path to the heart of the Netherlands. The comfort levels are high – think spacious seats and ample legroom, which means you can relax and enjoy the scenic views outside your window.

Where to Eat Alone in Amsterdam
Dining alone in Amsterdam opens up a world of delightful experiences. I found cozy cafes tucked away in the Nine Streets district, serving up not just coffee but engaging conversations. These spots make you feel right at home, perfect for solo travelers seeking a warm welcome. Then there are the restaurants near Centraal Station, where the service is so nice; you’ll forget you’re dining solo.
It turned out, enjoying a meal by myself gave me the freedom to truly savor the flavors of Amsterdam, from traditional Dutch dishes to international cuisine. It’s the blend of friendly locals and inviting atmospheres that makes eating alone here not just easy but enjoyable.
Here are a few of my favorites:
- Foodhallen : Incredibly fun food hall where you can try a bunch of different things. This was a really easy choice as a solo traveler if you’re intimidated by sitting in a traditional restaurant alone.
- SUMO Sushi Amsterdam Leidseplain : This sushi place is epic and it was right near my hotel which was a problem. Haha! They do a really fun “unlimited” sushi special where you order rounds of small bites off a tablet. Highly recommend.
- If you’re spending a couple days in the museum district then I would recommend the Rijksmuseum Café and outside the Rijksmuseum there is a lovely park with a bunch of food vendors set up. If the weather is nice, it’ll be packed but worth it!
Safety Tips For Solo Female Travelers To Amsterdam
I often heard tales about Amsterdam’s thrilling nightlife and cobblestone streets, brimming with history and culture. As a solo female traveler, navigating these experiences safely became my top priority. Embracing Amsterdam wasn’t just about the adventure; it was also about ensuring a smooth journey.
Amsterdam’s reputation as a friendly and safe city for women traveling alone precedes it, yet taking a few precautions can enhance this experience. Always stay in well-lit areas at night and keep an eye on your belongings, especially in crowded places like Centraal Station or Dam Square.
Public transport offers a reliable way back to your accommodation after a long day of exploring the Nine Streets or enjoying a canal cruise. But, if I ever felt uncomfortable I would use a ride-sharing app that offers peace of mind so that I can prepay and track my journey.
Furthermore, bonding with fellow travelers or locals can transform your trip. Hotels and guided tours, especially those emphasizing Amsterdam’s rich art scene with visits to the Van Gogh Museum or Anne Frank House, provide excellent opportunities for connection. Simply put, being cautious yet open ensures your Amsterdam solo adventure will be as safe as it is unforgettable.

Amsterdam, a city famous for its rich history and vibrant culture, offers a plethora of activities that make traveling alone an adventure to cherish. The tranquility contrasted with the bustling Centraal Station, where I marveled at the blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture.

Explore a Local Amsterdam Museum or Three
Embarking on solo travel in Amsterdam opened my eyes to the rich tapestry of culture and history that is inseparable from the city’s very essence. Museums, I discovered, form the heart of this tapestry. The Van Gogh Museum beckoned with its colorful whirls of paint, whispering tales of brilliance and madness. Nestled within its walls, I felt a connection to the art that was both personal and profound.
