Lane 8’s ‘This Never Happened’ label announce Australian tour dates

Lane 8’s renowned label ‘ This Never Happened ‘ have announced the first-ever tour across the east coast of Australia, with dates scheduled in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this July!

In collaboration with Untitled Group, the tour will be a ‘’phone free electronic dance evening’’ that encourages attendees to foster in-person connections made on the dancefloor.

Artists performing on the night – Le Youth , Sultan & Shepard and PARIS – will set the tone through their hefty repertoire and contributions to the electronic music scene, in the same ‘melodic’ vein as the label.

With previous successful gatherings held internationally in 2017 and 2019, the brand-new 2023 experience promises to be a special one for Aussie party-goers.

General sale starts on Thursday 11th May @ 12pm AEST.

Le Youth , a popular dance musician whose iconic, sparkling and upbeat house tracks have amassed more than 250 million streams across various releases and remixes, including his album “Reminders,” which alone has over 13 million streams touching fans across the globe. Le Youth has collaborated with significant music labels like This Never Happened , Anjunabeats, and Armada Electronic Elements.

Sultan & Shepard, the Canadian electronic music duo, who have cemented their status as prominent figures in the electronic dance scene with a remarkable two-decade career, including Grammy Nominations and collabs with A-listers such as David Guetta, Madonna, and Coldplay.

PARIS a Sydney born DJ and producer known for her captivating sets of melodic techno. She has toured extensively around the globe, performing at major festivals such as Pitch Music and Arts , Beyond The Valley and Splendor in the Grass . With multiple Triple J and Double J high rotation radio ads, PARIS is one of Australia’s most prolific electronic artists, and her popularity continues to grow, garnering praise from industry heavyweights like Maceo Plex and Lane 8.

Lane 8 announces phone/photo-free Australian tour - This Never Happened

The san fran-based producer/dj is playing some select shows this april..

San Francisco-based DJ/producer Daniel Goldstein, better known by his stage name Lane 8, has today announced a short and sweet Australian tour this coming April. And while it's cool the house music maestro is coming this way in and of itself, the tour is notable for another reason - it's gonna be phone and photo free.

The aptly-named This Never Happened tour finds the DJ playing shows in Melbourne, Adealaide and Sydney smack bang in the middle of April, for shows that ask you don't bring your phone into the venue. Why? We'll leave it up to the man himself to explain quite eloquently below:

Absolutely amazing. I could've happily stayed at that concert for another 5 hours. I especially loved that he had everyone place a bit of tape over their phone cameras, so everyone was really present.

Lane 8 was amazing but the could have been hosted at a better venue. The lighting could have been better and the visuals. Music was superb. Most promising artist. Would love to see more collaborations and try different genres.

Lane 8 Announces Lineup for Upcoming Red Rocks Show

Lane 8 will be joined by Le Youth, Massane, and EMBRZ when he makes his way to Red Rocks on the Reviver Tour in September.

One of the artists in the melodic house scene who continues to captivate listeners around the world is Lane 8 . From his early work on Rise to the release of jaw-dropping albums like Brightest Lights , there is seemingly nothing getting in his way to slow down his ascent to the top. More recently, Lane 8 has continued to press on as the label boss for This Never Happened to curate sensational releases from other artists, and he also kicked off 2022 with the release of his latest album, Reviver .

Prior to the album dropping, Lane 8 gave his fans near and far some exciting news about the album tour with initial stops in Washington DC, Chicago, and Toronto, as well as stops in The Netherlands and UK later on this year. One notable stop that had yet to be revealed was in Colorado , with many wondering when a show at Red Rocks would be announced – and today that question has been answered.

Rather than pander to the purists or create music for DJs alone, Daniel Goldstein aka Lane 8 has always tread his own, distinctive path – perhaps best summed up by his phones-free event and label concept This Never Happened. The concept is a simple one: remove all phones and cameras from the event, get back to connecting with the music and the people around you. And it is one that has been embraced with passion by Lane 8’s dedicated fanbase and the dance community at large with over. Since debuting the concept with a sold out show at San Francisco’s Mezzanine in 2016, Lane 8 has taken the concept to over 60 shows in four different continues – playing to over 50,000 completely connected fans in the process. In tandem with the events, Daniel’s output on the TNH label has stood out for its integrity and artistry whether on emotional epics like ‘Little Voices’ or upbeat groovers such as ‘With Me’. Always defined by a melodic touch, TNH is the culmination of a steady, assured rise over recent years. This musical progression continued this year when Lane 8 released his sophomore album ‘Little By Little’ on the TNH imprint. With it he delivered a record that distilled his unique flair for melodic, heart-warming electronics that are both classy and quirky, traversing reflective electronica, instrumental club epics and leftfield pop moments alike. Representing the full arc of Lane 8’s melodic, uniquely crafted sound, the LP teamed with vocal features from Poliça, Australia’s Fractures, J.F. For the past five years, Denver’s had a musical buddy in Lane 8, or as his friends know him, Daniel Goldstein. This DJ’s not just been playing his tunes around town, but he’s been lighting up the global dance scene too.

On September 9, Civic Center Park wasn’t just any other park. Lane 8’s This Never Happened Summer Gathering 2023 was in town, featuring cool acts like Sultan + Shepard, EMBRZ, Massane, Ocula, and Ashibah. It was dubbed as one of the biggest events the downtown spot has ever seen. Lane 8’s no stranger to Colorado’s stages, from jamming at the Red Rocks Amphitheater to shaking things up at the Globe Hall.

Who could forget 2020? While everything went a bit quiet, Lane 8 did the unimaginable: he held a livestream gig right in the middle of Grand Lake. With over 11 million views, suddenly everyone was talking about Grand Lake.

Chatting about the good old This Never Happened Summer Gatherings from 2017 and 2019, Lane 8 said, “Yeah, we wanted more of those in 2021. But, you know, things happened. So, having them this year? Twice as sweet!” True to its name, if you weren’t there, it’s like it never happened—no photos, just pure, in-the-moment vibes.

If you missed the event, there was a laid-back after-party at the Ogden Theater. And because Lane 8’s cool like that, a chunk from each ticket went to some seriously worthy causes. Hats off to Lane 8 for giving Denver another night to remember.
