This Mekong Delta trip was absolutely banging !! From set up on the net to completion of the trip the Vietnamese owner of the tour was in touch and totally accessible. I booked the trip to have a relaxing ride around the mainly flat Mekong Delta. I ride bikes everyday at home and didn't feel the need to get down and dirty as I'm sure I would if I'd have adventured further north. I have just finished a 12 tour Top Gear Ho ChiMin Trail tour. Myself and two friends joined Cong on this fabulous ride we saw and experienced lots of things that the average tourist would not experience. This tour was very well organised and Cong was very good at finding new experiences from riding through remote villages and rice paddies we also ate at a verity of restaurants from remote family settings to floating restaurants where the food was also extremely fresh and tasty. We got to visit war site’s museums and grave sites. It was challenging learning to ride in the huge mobs of motorcycles in the cities and also evading trucks/ cars motorcycles coming around corners on your side of the road. We saw motorcycles pulling trailers with up to 5 pigs,1 water buffalo,1 large cow, 4 people and a dog, as well as numerous farm produce equipment. It was an extremely rewarding experience and would highly recommend Mr Dong and his crew of well trained informed guides who go out of their way to make sure that you have the best possible experience.

Motorcycle Tours - General Information

If you’re looking for more information about a “motorcycle tour,” then you’ve come to the right place. RIDE Adventures specializes in exactly that; adventurous, international motorcycle trips where we offer a variety of services that make your dream RIDE a reality. If you’re looking to explore parts of the world that may be difficult to reach on your own, we’re here to make it possible.

From self-guided tours, to guided groups, to private tours, one of the major benefits to booking with RIDE Adventures is that there is no need to ship your bike! You don’t need to deal with customs or freight agents because we provide you with new, maintained, high-quality rental bikes as part of your package. Risks are reduced and it’s as easy as you fly, you RIDE.

Additionally, the RIDE Adventures staff are experts in each international tour area offered on the site. You can rest assured that we’re not a warehouse full of links to unfamiliar trips. We’ve been to, or currently live in, these destinations. We’ve ridden them countless times and are here to make your adventure as exciting, and safe, as possible.

SELF GUIDED MOTORCYCLE TOURS

The self-guided motorcycle tours offered by RIDE Adventures are, in essence, an enhanced rental option designed for those of you who would rather experience your quest solo. We’ll provide you with a terrain-appropriate rental motorcycle on our “Fly & RIDE” packages, so there’s no need to ship your bike, saving you the time and effort of dealing with customs and shipping costs.

Your international paperwork, i.e. border crossing authorizations, etc., are already taken care of for you, along with an entire hotel package that is laid out and pre-reserved throughout the duration of your adventure.

In addition to the pre-defined itinerary that you can use at your own pace throughout the day, you’ll also be provided with a road book or a GPS unit to assist in navigation. The information we provide also offers suggestions on what sights to visit, where to get food, where to get fuel, and things of that nature to make your motorcycle adventure as smooth and carefree as possible.

As with all the tours and rentals on our site, these tour routes have been ridden and explored by our staff so you can rest assured that you are being provided with reliable, dependable information. The trips you can choose from are located in extremely popular riding destinations around the world, so in order to experience the dream tour that you want, be sure to book well in advance of your projected travel dates!

GUIDED GROUP TRIPS

We understand that our “Self-Guided” options are fairly self-explanatory, but what exactly is a “Guided Group” tour?

Great! Glad you asked.

If you’re uncomfortable with the idea of traveling in a foreign country by yourself, then that’s what we’re here for.  Our Guided Group offerings primarily cover the same routes and tours as our self-guided options, but rather than handing you a map, a GPS unit, and a motorbike, then sending you on your way, we’re here to make your trip the best it can be by providing one or two expert guides to join you on your adventure.

Bilingual and multilingual guides join your RIDE to help with international paperwork, border crossings, luggage transport, and sightseeing opportunities. Motorcycle maintenance? Check. Help with changing a flat tire? Check. Dealing with border patrol agents? Check.

Our guided group tours really are our most turn-key service, from picking you up at the airport, to securing your rental bike, to guiding your group, to finally taking you back to the airport (sadly) for your return flight home.

Keep in mind that these tours can potentially be made up of strangers, individuals from all around the world, and are designed for people who are comfortable traveling together in such situations. Above all, you’re riding with people who bond, and make new lifelong friends, over the shared passion of adventure riding. (Note: it’s not a requirement to RIDE with strangers, especially if you have enough people in your group or want to choose a Private tour option, explained below.)

DUAL SPORT ADVENTURES

This section of the page offers a more in-depth look at the nature of dual-sport adventure riding. If you’ve been getting dirty for years, riding off the beaten path, so to speak, then you know what it feels like to get out into the wild. But, if you’re just getting into dual-sport riding, here’s what we mean…

Going on a dual sport RIDE involves experiencing the thrill of leaving the hustle and bustle of daily life behind. Turn off the paved roads (even though we do offer pavement options) and get that bike into the dirt, mud, and sand pathways through mountains, jungles, and deserts, while they still last.

As time goes on, particularly up and down the routes of South America, more paved roads are encroaching on the dirt ones, and the adventure riding opportunities in their natural state will eventually slip away.

It’s a good thing we know where the best routes to RIDE are located!

Another important thing to note is that the motorbikes we provide with your rental or tour options are appropriate for the terrain. They are not small cc dirt bikes, but rather, 500 to 650cc and higher dual sport motorcycles that can handle the journey, and therefore, we recommend that riders are able to handle these bikes.

As always, be sure to book your adventure RIDE early due to the limited nature of the motorcycles and the seasonal riding opportunities.

PAVEMENT ONLY RIDING

While RIDE Adventures has a reputation for specializing in off-road riding tours, we do have some pavement-focused opportunities for those of you who might not be comfortable riding on surfaces like sand and gravel.

As much as it pains us to say it, pavement riding is a natural progression to the state of motorcycle adventures as more roads get paved around the world. You can still experience some thrilling adventure if your riding comfort level is more suited to hard surfaces! We can make that happen too.

While you’re exploring the pavement-focused options here on the site, one thing we’d like you to note is the percentage of paved to off-road riding in each trip’s details. Some may be 90%, some may be 100%, but keep in mind the possibility that you may come across a hard-packed dirt road or be faced with riding through a construction zone. (Just be aware of the possibilities!)

Note that our pavement-only opportunities to RIDE are just like any of the other tours we offer in that they can be Self-Guided or Guided Group. Self-Guided trips can start and end based on your schedule and bike availability, while Guided Groups tend to have specific dates and schedules to follow.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again… Bike availability is limited, which means you should reserve your trip dates well in advance!

PRIVATE GROUP OPTIONS

As with all of the options we offer here on the site, we feel it’s important to remind you that there is no need to ship your bike. We’ll provide you with the rental motorcycle when you get to your desired location, you just show up and begin making memories that last a lifetime!

Our private group options can essentially be designed to fit your needs. Whether that involves creating your own private self-guided group with you and a gang of your riding friends, or putting together a guided group option with either one or two local experts along for the adventure, it’s really up to you! We can provide support trucks to carry luggage and tools if you like; it depends on what your individual group needs and wants are.

One important thing to note is that our group options, particularly guided groups, have shared costs, i.e. for the experienced guide and support truck, etc., and more riders mean reduced fees. So, if you want to lower your total costs, bring more riding friends!

Private group tours can be organized to your liking, outside of the realm of our pre-packaged options, and can be ridden on dirt, pavement, or both. Let us know what you’re looking for, and we’ll do all we can to accommodate it.

Again, we’d like to remind you that these are highly desirable, international riding locations, with a limited number of motorcycles available, especially during peak riding seasons. We can’t say it enough—book your dates well in advance!

Are there any restrictions on participation?

– By weight: not more than 90 kg for sport bikes and not more than 110 kg for grand tourists (Goldwing);

– All pilots are prohibited to take passengers in a state of alcoholic or drug intoxication;

– The volume of luggage (handbags, backpacks, etc.) is not more than 15 liters. Larger volume of baggage – must be reported in advance (for the carriage of goods a number of motorcycles are foreseen);

  – It is strictly forbidden to ride without a helmet. (helmet provided);

    Our equipment is completely safe regardless of the chosen route and kind of entertainment. We also recommend that you have insurance in force in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Tibetmoto Tours was founded in 2010 in the Tibetan old town of Shangri-la in the southwest Chinese province of Yunnan. After an initial start-up phase with numerous scouting and expedition tours to the provinces of Tibet, Sichuan, Qinghai and Guangxi, we organized the first tours in 2011. Shangri-la is located at the foothills of the Himalayas at 3,300 meters and is the ideal starting point for motorcycle tours in this unique landscape; in the north Shangri-la borders on Tibet, in the West its sharing a provincial border with Sichuan, in the south it borders on the Chinese-influenced subtropics. In addition, Shangri-la is surrounded by wild mountain ranges, grasslands, deep gorges such as the Tiger Leaping Gorge and the mighty Yangtze and Mekong rivers. A perfect start and end point for BMW motorcycle tours in China and Tibet. Since then Tibetmoto Tours conducted more than 100 tours and served 1,300 riders from 19 countries.

In 2019 Tibetmoto Tours opened a new company with licenses from the Department of Business Development (DBD) and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The new motorcycle base with attached garage and workshop is located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. From here motorcycle tours to the region of Thailand and Southeast Asia are organized, many tours start or end in Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is located in the mountainous north of Thailand near the Golden Triangle and borders Myanmar and Laos. The borders with China, Vietnam and Cambodia are not far away and offer endless possibilities for motorcycle tours in one of the most beautiful and diverse areas in the world. Four Ways to Travel

We prepare our adventure tours carefully, yet they still have scope for unforeseen events. In particular the high-altitude terrain and its forces of nature, remote regions or foreign peoples can always offer new experiences or challenges. According to the motto “The journey is the reward”,  we offer a spectacular riding experience with team spirit, as well as fun in new situations on slopes and unpaved road conditions. We also plan a simply overnight stay in exiting, remote locations – pure adventure!

On our discovery tours, we create a balance between riding time, riding fun, dreamy landscapes and carefully selected country and mountain roads. You will get to know the country and its people, as well as discover foreign customs and cultures. Those keen to explore will get their money’s worth here: Sights such as temples or half-forgotten ruined cities can be explored from the back of a motorcycle – without having to forego the comfort of a beautiful accommodation.

Riding a motorcycle and relax? Why not? On these tours there is a lot of time to relax in selected hotels, mountain resorts or beach bungalows after exciting riding days. The daily riding distances are manageable and the terrain is less demanding. This leaves more time to enjoy, relax and get to know the country, its culture and sights.

We are the official partner of BMW Motorrad and conduct BMW Motorycle tours in different parts of China including Tibet, Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Guangxi and Guizhou. Tibetmoto Tours is an experienced operator of organized motorbike tours in Tibet, China and Thailand. Every motorcycle tour, whether in Southwest China, Tibet, Thailand or elsewhere in Southeast Asia, is led by an experienced motorcycle tour guide who has several years of experience. In addition, all of our tour guides are trained by our team so that each of our tours achieves the same high standard. Our team can guide even the most demanding tours. Decisions are made confidently even when difficulties arise that can occur during adventure and discovery trips. You are in the best hands – our motorcycle tour guides are professionals!

Our tour guides all have their own style, but many have in common that they like to promote “easy riding”. The tour guide does not ride ahead during the motorbike tour but among the tour group riders and clearly recognizable stops where the group comes together again are discussed in the morning briefing. This type of travel has the advantage that the riders can organize photo stops or short breaks themselves, an inevitable trip behind the tour guide is not mandatory. But of course this is also possible, if desired.

All BMW motorcycle tours take place with a comfortable support vehicle. Luggage and pillions have plenty of space in the service vehicle and all pillions have a guaranteed seat.

The support vehicle can also be used to comfortably reach sights or restaurants for dinner if the motorcycle has already been parked for the night.

Every tour is accompanied by an experienced mechanic who can do repairs on site. Should it happen that a motorcycle cannot be repaired immediately, we will provide you with a replacement motorcycle, and the repair will take place in the hotel upon arrival. The replacement motorcycle can be used immediately – so you hardly miss a single curve on your trip.

Excellent hotels and great food are also important aspects of any trip with Tibetmoto Tours. We like to stay in selected charming boutique hotels, but of course this is not always possible in remote areas. There we choose the best hotel or guest house the destination has to offer. But also a simple overnight stay, such as the modest monastery guesthouse at Rongbuk Monastery on 4,900 meters at the foot of Mount Everest, is a real highlight since you have views onto the highest mountain on earth.

BMW Motorcycle Tours in China

Tibetmoto Tours has been organizing BMW motorcycle tours in China for many years, especially in the southwest of the country, in the provinces of Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Guangxi and Guizhou. One of our most popular motorcycle tours is our South of the Clouds Yunnan Motorbike Tour , which leads through the spectacular subtropical province of Yunnan and does not leave out any of the numerous highlights. Yunnan is so stunning that many travel guides consider it the most beautiful of all Chinese provinces. The tour begins at an altitude of 3,300 meters in the Tibetan old town of mystical Shangri-La, which is entirely made of wood, in the eastern Himalayas. From there we ride into the Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest canyons in the world, and on to Lake Lugu, whose shores are inhabited by the Mosu ethnic minority. Of course, the UNESCO World Heritage city of Lijiang is just as important as Dali or Shaxi, where we follow the historic Tea Horse Trade Route that once connected Myanmar and India with southwest China. The Indians traded in tea, the Chinese traded silk and the Burmese traded jade. The highlight of the tour is surely the overnight stay with our Tibetan host family on the banks of the upper reaches of the Mekong river in a traditional farm house, the visit to Mt. Kawa Karpo with fantastic views of the 6,740 meter high mountain peak and glacier and the ride along the Mekong and Yangtze to the 4,292 meters high pass of the White Horse in the Himalayas. Motorcycling can hardly be more beautiful!

Our tour On the Dragon´s Backbone Motorbike Tour leads through the almost tropical landscapes of the provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi to Yangshuo, a place that inspires with its gentle beauty and bizarre karst formations. One of the highlights of this BMW Motorbike tour is the world’s largest rice terraces at Yuanyang of the Hani minority, which took 500 years to complete and which we will visit by motorcycle after our tour start in Hong Kong. The route leads across the smallest mountain roads from Kunming and we visit Luoping, the national park near Leye and the wind and rain bridge near Chengyang. Then we reach the rice terraces at Longji, which means “backbone of the dragon” and gave the tour its name – because the landscape and the tiny mountain roads look exactly like the rugged terrain of a Dragon´s body. At the end of the tour we reach Yangshuo and enjoy a raft ride on the famous Li river with fabulous views.

The At the Roof of the World Tour is one of the most special tours from our BMW motorcycle tour program in China. It leads through the largely unknown provinces of Sichuan and Qinghai, which are inhabited by Tibetans and are on average 3,000 meters above sea level – or even higher. Many 5,000-meter-high passes are waiting, but first you fly from Shanghai to Lijiang. After leaving Lijiang we enter the Himalayas we reach a 5,100-meter-high pass near Litang, birthplace of the seventh D.L., after crossing the lake plateau “Haizi” – a high plateau beyond 4,000 meters dotted with small lakes. Along the monasteries that sit on the endless grasslands of Qinghai, inhabited by yaks, we ride to Sertar, the largest monastery complex in the world. We cross the Yangtze River twice and then reach Langmusi, also an ancient monastery where hundreds of Buddhist monks live and pray. The tour ends in Xining, provincial capital of Qinghai, but only after visiting the largest lake in the Himalayas, Qinghai Lake. A wonderful journey through the most remote and undiscovered areas of China.

But we also offer Overland Tours through China . Either for individuals driving their own vehicle, for example via the popular entry border Torugart Pass or Irkestam near Kyrgyzstan or Mohan from Laos – numerous borders are available. In case you are looking for adventure, you can book our silk road motorcycle tour along the Silk Road from Munich to Kashgar in China and further up to Tibet.

BMW Motorbike Tours in Tibet

Tibet is one of the most spectacular regions in the world and a visit to the Base Camp of Mount Everest is at the top of the bucket list for many. And what could be more breathtaking in the sense of the word than riding a BMW motorcycle to an altitude of 5,200 meters? Our Everest Base Camp Motorcycle Tour focuses on exactly that: Tibet by motorcycle with all the highlights that the Roof of the World has to offer, and of course a ride to the Base Camp of Mount Everest is not missing. On this trip, Chengdu is the starting point and the next day the plane leaves for Lhasa. After a some acclimatization we ride to Gyangze and visit the Palcho Monastery and along the Yamdrok Lake, a spectacular azure blue mountain lake, to Sakya Monastery and further up to the Everest Base Camp, where we spend the night at 4,900 meters in the guest house of Rongbuk Monastery. We return to Lhasa via Xigatze and Lake Namtso, a wonderful mountain lake with a 5,100 meter high pass.

On our new Shangri-la To Lhasa East Tibet Motorcycle Tour , the focus is on the Eastern Himalayas. From Shangri-la we ride up high along the rivers Yangtze, Mekong and Salween – on dreamlike routes without traffic. We start our motorbike tour at the southeastern foothills of the Himalayan Mountain range and ride up to the high plateau of the Roof of the World via Zuogong, Lake Ranwu, Lulang (Switzerland of the Orient), and over hundreds of curves parallel to the Nepalese-Chinese border to Everest Base Camp.

Our Kailash Motorcycle Tour takes you on selected routes in the west of Tibet to the holy Mt. Kailash. Visits to the equally sacred Manasarovar Lake, Saga, Nyima, Lake Serling and the forgotten Kingdom of Guge near Zanda are of course also included. Back to Lhasa we take a dreamlike route along the highest mountains in the world Shisha Pangma, Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu.

Of course, Tibet is also a popular destination for Overland travelers with their own vehicle. Many drive to China via Kashgar on the Silk Road and then across the Tibetan high plateau to Nepal – we are happy to help with that too. Another point to note is that China does not recognize an International Driving Permit or License. Hence you have to get a Chinese driving license . But if you go on a tour with us, we will handle that for you.

We integrate all of these points into our motorcycle tours in Thailand, for example on our Thailand Golden Triangle Motorcycle Tour . From Chiang Mai, the “capital of the north” with its 800 temples, colorful night markets and busy streets, we start, first to the Golden Triangle, world-famous for the former Opium production, and then down to the Mekong – the lifeline of Southeast Asia. The winding roads near Nan also inspire well-traveled motorcyclists, they are among the most beautiful roads in Southeast Asia, on which the quickly successive curves trigger enthusiasm. After visiting Sukhothai, the former capital of Thailand with its exciting cultural highlights and ruins, we ride to the world-famous Mae Hong Son Loop, on which we head to the city of the same name and of course Pai, a hippie paradise in the mountains, leave nothing out. The trip ends in Chiang Mai again and we have time to enjoy the multi-faceted old town with its colorful temples.

Tour de Staten Island bike tour set for April 21: Here’s what riders need to know

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Get on your bike and ride! The Tour de Staten Island returns Sunday, April 21.

Organized by Transportation Alternatives, a group that works to make the streets of New York City safer, this ride-at-your-own-pace, non-competitive bike tour will take riders around the landmarks and vistas of Staten Island

Remco Evenepoel and Jonas Vingegaard Suffer Broken Collarbones at Itzulia Basque Country

Stage 4 of Itzulia Basque Country was marked by a devastating crash, which left multiple top riders hospitalized.

Among the injured, Visma-Lease a Bike’s Vingegaard suffered a broken collarbone and several fractured ribs and will remain in the hospital. Evenepoel (Soudal-Quickstep) also suffered a broken right collarbone and right scapula, according to each of the riders’ teams.

UAE Team Emirates’ Jay Vine also sustained fractures to three of his vertebrae, while Roglič (Bora-hansgrohe), already grappling with injuries from a prior crash, was forced to abandon the race but fortunately sustained less severe injuries and was attended to by medical staff on-site.

The incident occurred approximately 35 km from the finish line as the peloton navigated a tight right-hand bend within dense woodland. One rider’s slide triggered a domino effect, resulting in multiple riders tumbling down, some landing in unprotected concrete ditches. Initial reports suggest at least ten riders were affected, six requiring immediate hospitalization.

The severity of the crash prompted the race organizers to neutralize the competition, with concerns mounting as ambulances rushed to the scene to attend to the fallen riders. The extent of the injuries varied, with some riders, like Jay Vine of UAE Team Emirates, requiring hospitalization for further evaluation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. However, local rider Mikel Bizkarra shed light on the treacherous conditions of the road, citing the presence of underlying tree roots that rendered the asphalt uneven and prone to accidents.

As the race organization dealt with the aftermath, decisions were made to neutralize the GC battle for the day, with only the breakaway riders continuing their pursuit to the finish line. Riders like Vingegaard, conscious but under observation, were transported to hospitals for further assessment.

Tour de Houston bicyclists urge for long-term measures to improve rider safety on city's roads

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Thousands of bicyclists took off from downtown Houston Sunday morning for the 17th annual Tour de Houston , a ride that travels through some of the city's most scenic areas.

Participants were in good spirits as they were greeted with beautiful weather at the starting line on Avenida de las Americas, right next to Discovery Green. Mayor John Whitmire joined Apache Corporation, the event's sponsor, to send off each of the three groups, riding in the 20, 40, and 60-mile routes.

The ride almost didn't take place this year.

Back in January, the Mayor's Office of Special Events preliminarily canceled the 2024 event due to a lack of funding. Whitmire said this was done without his consultation and when he found out, he explored other options to keep the event going.

The longest route takes participants through Houston's historic neighborhoods, vibrant districts, and parks before going all the way down to Clear Lake Park in Seabrook. The intersections along the way were not closed, but manned by traffic officers.

While the event allowed bicyclists to ride safely on Houston's roads on Sunday, some riders shared with ABC13 some of the long-term measures they'd like to see to make the city more bike-friendly.

"If they could connect the bike trails together to make even long trails, that would be the best thing the City of Houston could do to improve biking in the city, in my opinion. Connect the widest trails, like White Oak and Spring Creek. Those kinds of mega trails," Ulises Martin said.

"A clearly marked lane for bikes. We do know that we have to share with cars because the City of Houston is so car-oriented. Make a better effort of campaigning to let motorists know to be aware of cyclists," Phi Nguyen said.

Data obtained by ABC13 shows 13 cyclists died in accidents in Harris County in 2023. ABC13 asked the mayor where city officials stand on the issue of bicyclist safety.

"We're growing at a rapid rate. Our general mobility is very important. We've done great things along Allen Parkway. We need to make sure that there's a safe passage in Memorial Park. So there's a lot of things we still have to do," Whitmire said.

Meanwhile, organizers said proceeds from Tour de Houston will go towards the city's RE-Plant Houston Program, which helps plant thousands of trees and reforest parks and greenspaces.

Allenamento di tecnica ciclistica: come si evince dal nome del percorso, in questo programma sarà prevista una full-immersion di 1 ora sulla tecnica di guida e, successivamente, un tour verso la Kaiserwarte per mettere in pratica le notizie imparate.
