Jeremy Clarkson has revealed why it’s the end of the road for The Grand Tour . Clarkson said he and co-hosts, James May and Richard Hammond, decided to quit the Amazon Prime Video show after running out of steam.

In an interview with The Times of London , Clarkson said it was becoming increasingly difficult to conjure up outlandish adventures for the show and that the presenters were all showing their age.

He added that The Grand Tour missions are “immensely physical” and had become increasingly difficult when “you’re unfit and fat and old.” “If you’re Bear Grylls you go to a hotel — there aren’t any hotels in the Sahara desert,” Clarkson said.

Clarkson, Hammond, and May confirmed last November that they had filmed their final installments of  The Grand Tour . Two final episodes of the motoring series were recorded in Mauritania and Zimbabwe and will premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

Fozia Khan, Amazon Studios’ head of unscripted in the UK, said the brand could survive with another set of presenters. “It’s come to its natural end,” she said, adding that her team was “thinking about” how the show can live on.

Clarkson will continue to host Clarkson’s Farm for Amazon after the series has become the streamer’s highest-rated UK original. Filming on Season 4 is set to begin this year. Clarkson is also hosting more Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? for ITV.

The Times interviewer Ed Potton wrote that he was told not to ask Clarkson about his reviled The Sun newspaper column about Meghan Markle. Clarkson wrote that he imagines the day Markle is paraded “naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.” The piece was retracted and Amazon made clear its fury at the article.

Asked if he feels under pressure to be controversial, Clarkson said: “No! I like being controversial. Some people who see a still pond find that peaceful, but I cannot resist throwing a stone in it.”

When is the grand tour on tv and how can i watch it.

The Grand Tour, an Amazon exclusive show, is back for its second season. The car show, starring ex-Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May has relaunched today, 8 December, with a new episode released every Friday for the next 11 weeks.

Here is our handy guide on when and where you can watch Clarkson, May and Hammond attempt to grind the BBC's refreshed Top Gear into dust.

What is The Grand Tour?

The Grand Tour is the new car show featuring Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. It differs from Top Gear in that it is filmed in different locations around the world. The studio, which houses a live audience, is based in a large tent this this time round, will set up a permanent residence in Yorkshire (the reason being that it is just a short walk from Jeremy's house)

There are features and larks that the presenters have been filming globally throughout 2017 and much more.

When is The Grand Tour on TV?

The Grand Tour is now available, with the first episode airing globally on Friday 8 December. It is now live for Prime and Amazon Video subscribers to view. It will then continue over the following 11 weeks, with each new episode being aired on subsequent Fridays. There are 12 episodes in season one, which are also still available to view on Amazon Video.

How can I watch The Grand Tour on my TV?

Sadly, as Amazon paid big bucks for the exclusive rights to The Grand Tour, you will only be able to watch the show on Amazon Video . You'll also need a Prime subscription  which costs £79 a year in the UK but also includes free next-day delivery across millions of items on Amazon and other benefits.

A trial period of 30 days is available for new subscribers, so if you sign up now you can at least see the first four episodes for free before deciding to opt for the full subscription.

What devices do I need to watch The Grand Tour?

There are applications for Amazon Video across a vast number of connected devices, including Smart TVs, set-top-boxes and mobile devices, so you'll be able to watch it in a number of ways - including when out and about.

Amazon Video also allows for offline viewing for the vast majority of its in-house programming, so we expect you'll also be able to download the show to an iPad, say, and watch it when travelling.

"The Grand Tour" to return for farewell episode in 2024

C larkson, Hammond, and May are set to officially bid farewell to their program, "The Grand Tour," broadcast on Amazon, as reported by the BBC.

There's good news and bad news for fans. Good news: "The Grand Tour" will return in 2024. Bad news: this will be its final episode. The trio, who rose to fame through the BBC's "Top Gear," have continued their antics on "The Grand Tour," which has been available on Amazon since 2016.

While the initial seasons of "The Grand Tour" boasted a similar number of episodes to its predecessor “Top Gear," the series has recently been limited to sporadically published special productions. It appears that this was the beginning of the end for "The Grand Tour".

According to the BBC, which cited internal sources, a  special episode documenting a trip to Zimbabwe will be released in 2024 , marking the official end of "The Grand Tour".

Despite saying goodbye to "The Grand Tour," it doesn't mean that this popular trio will completely vanish from our screen. Each presenter has their own shows on Amazon's platform. As of now, these productions are set to continue.

It's worth noting that "Top Gear," the precursor to "The Grand Tour," is also seeing its end. Following Clarkson, May, and Hammond's departure, the BBC carried on with the series, introducing new presenters. However, this came to a halt in 2022, when one presenter, Freddie Flintoff, sustained serious injuries in an on-set incident. Nearly a year following the accident, the broadcaster announced its decision to discontinue the program.
