Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews Band is returning this year with a new album and a full summer tour in support. The veteran, record-setting rock band announced on Tuesday (Jan. 24) that Walk Around the Moon , their 10th studio album, is set to drop May 19 via RCA Records.

Looking Ahead: A Release Calendar of Upcoming Albums in 2023

Spanning 12 original tracks, Walk Around the Moon was formed during the pandemic and “is as much a reflection on the current times as it is an urge to find common ground,” reads a statement from the band.

Trending on Billboard

Producer Rob Evans worked on “Madman’s Eyes,” which DMB road-tested at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, back in November 2021.

The fresh cut blends Middle Eastern vibes with horns and strings, and sees Matthews pose the question, “When it’s too late to untwist the knife/ How do we face hatred with the love inside us.”

Longtime collaborator John Alagia served as executive producer of Walk Around the Moon , with Evans working on most of its tracks. A limited-edition deluxe vinyl option is available exclusively at the official DMB website .

With the new collection comes a major North American jaunt. Following three dates in Mexico, DMB will kick off its U.S. run at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas, on May 19. As the calendar currently stands, the trek is scheduled to wrap Sept. 3 with the last in a three-night stand at Gorge Amphitheatre, in George, Wash.

Walk Around the Moon is the follow-up to Come Tomorrow from 2018, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 , the band’s seventh consecutive leader, a hot streak that dates back to 1998’s Before These Crowded Streets. DMB is the only group to see seven straight studio albums bow at No. 1 on the U.S. tally.

Formed in Charlottesville, Va., in 1991, DMB has more than 25 million career ticket sales and upwards of 38 million combined CD and DVD sales, according to reps.

Though, despite winning the fan vote by a wide margin in 2020, DMB has yet to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the DMB summer tour will be available to the general public beginning Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. local time.

Visit davematthewsband.com for more information, or check the DMB Warehouse Fan Association for presales.

Their summer tour draws to a close with the band’s traditional three-day, Labor Day weekend celebration at Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA (September 1-3). Named as a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador in 2019, Dave Matthews Band has a long history of reducing their environmental footprint, going back to their first shows in 1991. Having sold more than 25 million tickets since inception, making them the second largest ticket-seller in history.

Following their fall U.S. dates, Dave Matthews Band will head to South Africa to play shows in Pretoria and Cape Town. Dave Matthews Band Detail Summer Tour 2023, Unveil New LP ‘Walk Around The Moon’

Dave Matthews Band Detail Summer Tour 2023, Unveil New LP ‘Walk Around The Moon’

Today, Dave Matthews Band shared they’ll set out on a tour of the United States this summer while announcing their 10th studio album, Walk Around The Moon , set to drop on the same day their tour kicks off on May 19. Along with the album and tour announcement, Dave Mathews Band dished out the first taste of the 12-track project, which was shaped during the COVID-19 pandemic and reflects upon the times while encouraging listeners to find common ground, “Madman’s Eyes.”

Like the rest of Walk Around The Moon , “Madman’s Eyes” was recorded by producer Rob Evans and executive produced by longtime Dave Matthews Band collaborator John Alagia. The song sees the band entwine Middle Eastern inclinations with glided horns and strings, which the ensemble are so widely renowned for. On the track–which debuted at Nationwide Arena in Columbus in November of 2022–Dave Matthews sings, asking, “When it’s too late to untwist the knife / How do we face hatred with the love inside us.”

Dave Matthews Band’s summer tour will kick off after a trio of dates in Mexico at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas, on May 19. From there, the ensemble will make stops across the country performing for two nights in Wilmington, N.C.; Charleston, S.C.; Noblesville, Ind.; Chicago; Gilford, N.H.; Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Camden, N.J.; West Palm Beach, Fla., and Irvine, Calif. Other notable cities include Nashville, Tenn., Bend, Ore., Columbia, Md., Hartford, Conn., Dallas, Cincinnati, and Forest Hills, N.Y., where the band will play their first show at the historic Forest Hills Stadium in New York on June 9. Dave Matthews Band will conclude their travels with a three-day Labor Day weekend stint at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash., in what has become a tradition on Sept. 1-3.

An online ticket presale for members of the Dave Matthews Band Warehouse Fan Association is currently underway and can be accessed here . Citi is the official card of the 2023 tour, and card members will have access to presale tickets starting Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m., through Thursday, Feb. 16 at 10 p.m. local time. Learn more about those tickets here . General on-sale tickets will go on sale on Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. local time. Learn more and find tickets here .

What Are Those Official Platinum Tickets?

If you’re seeing very expensive tickets that are not VIP, those are official platinum tickets. These tickets are very expensive and are offered well over the standard ticket prices. They’re the kind of ticket pricing that is unfair to fans. The Event Organizer(s) has priced these tickets according to their market value (aka dynamic pricing). In other words, ticket pricing can go up or down, and it usually goes up.

Artists can choose not to offer Official Platinum or limit the amount for charity purposes. The Cure , Pearl Jam and U2 have all been recognized as artists that don’t use these dynamic pricing tactics.

Official platinum tickets do not include VIP packages. The only positive thing about them is they make buying floor or front-row tickets to a high-demand concert very easy if you’re willing to shed the extra coin. They can be bought during a presale without a presale code (doesn’t always apply to Verified Fan). Availability and pricing for official platinum tickets are subject to change based on demand.

If money is not an object, you should definitely bank on the convenience of getting Official Platinum tickets.

Dave Matthews Band have announced their 10th studio album,  Walk Around the Moon . It will arrive on May 19th and be supported by an expansive 2023 US tour. As a preview, they’ve shared the first single “Madman’s Eyes.”

Longtime DMB collaborator John Alagía served as the executive producer of  Walk Around the Moon , which is “as much a reflection on the current times as it is an urge to find common ground,” according to a press release. The band recorded most of the 12-track album with producer Rob Evans, including the aforementioned “Madman’s Eyes.” Pre-orders are ongoing.

The US tour kicks off on May 19th in The Woodlands, Texas. It will include DMB’s first show at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium as well as two-night stands in Charleston, South Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; and West Palm Beach, Florida before closing out with the band’s annual three-day Labor Day weekend celebration in George, Washington. “Madman’s Eyes” features a heavy dose of dramatic strings and horns as Matthews challenges the behavior of humanity: “We live as if our hands are tied/ Is it really so hard to do what we know is right?” Stream the new track below.

Walk Around the Moon serves as the follow-up to DMB’S 2018 album Come Tomorrow .

Dave Matthews Band’s ongoing partnership with The Nature Conservancy has resulted in three million trees being planted since 2020.  This year’s partnership, which will continue with the fall tour, will bring the total to four million trees. Fans can join in this mission by adding an optional donation of $2 per ticket to plant a tree with The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign – a major forest restoration effort with the goal of planting a billion trees around the world by 2025. For additional details, visit  www.dmbtrees.org . In a few days, the band will wrap up their summer tour with their Labor Day weekend celebration at Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. The jaunt features three performances on September 1-3. Following their fall U.S. dates, Dave Matthews Band will head to South Africa to play shows in Pretoria and Cape Town. Matthews and guitarist Tim Reynolds will travel to Mexico’s Riviera Maya in 2024 for the seventh in their series of all-inclusive concert vacations. Set for February 15-18, the outing is nearly sold out.

The group’s latest album Walk Around the Moon arrived back on May 19 via RCA. Most of the album’s 12 original songs were recorded with producer Rob Evans, including the lead single, “Madman’s Eyes.” Longtime collaborator, John Alagia, served as executive producer of the album. The record peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

Dave Matthews Band have sold a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined. They have one GRAMMY® Award under their belt (Best Rock Vocal Performance, “So Much to Say”) among several nominations. The band has sold more than 25 million tickets since inception, making them the second largest ticket-seller in history.
