Safari park.

Enjoy Africa in Italy! While going at a crawl through the park the visitor can enjoy the various animals of the African savanna. Discover lions, elephants and giraffes at close range. Leaving the car or opening the windows is forbidden during the safari because the animals live almost like in the wild and might come really close to the cars that pass by. For those who do not have a car can rent one against payment of a fee. But keep in mind that drop-tops are not allowed. 

Some information about the animals at the Safari Park

Besides a couple of Ostrich there are some other bird species like the addle-bill stork, a seldom African species, marabous and Egyptian gooses. The beautiful mix of different hoofed animals with different antelope species like the Lech and many more. The spotted hyenas and the cheetahs are only two of the many predators at the park. A special highlight is the white rhino called Benno. He was born in 1981 in the US and is living in the park since October 2012. The other rhino is Toby he lived together with the Sugar. A rhino doe that died in 2012. The red ruffed lemur females and the black-and-white ruffed lemur males are the representative of the primates. The here named animals are just some examples of the various animals that can be seen at the Parco Natura Viva.

Parco Faunistico Fauna Park

After the exciting safari the visitor can go to the botanic garden. Walking in an oak forest where animals from all 5 continents and the palm house with the vivarium and the Extinction Park. A special highlight is the footpath through Africa which was opened in 2009.

A Safari by foot! On this way you are separated from the animals only by natural barriers. Without any danger you can watch rhinos, hippos, monkeys and giant turtles at close range. The lemurs, small prosimians from Madagascar, are really funny to look at.

Palm house & Vivarium

This greenhouse contains the tropical rain forest of Southern America. About 130 exotic plants and different kinds of birds and insects like butterflies. The mango, papaya and the banana trees offer enough food for the different animals like colorful birds and small monkeys. There are also reptiles like common caimans, lizards, turtles and snakes like the boa constrictor.

Extinction Park

Back to prehistoric times! Replications of large and small dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals catapults the visitor back in time. The visitor can see the development of life on planet earth. Especially for the small guests it is a highlight!

There are many possibilities to have a rich meal at the park. There are numerous bars and a self-service restaurant as well as some gorgeous picnic spots. In the souvenir shop Natura Shop small souvenirs can be bought.

Il Parco Zoologico Natura Viva si trova a Bussolengo, vicino al Lago di Garda. Il moderno giardino zoologico con Parco Zoo Safari ospita numerosi animali esotici ed è la meta ideale per una giornata da trascorrere con tutta la famiglia!

Il Parco Zoologico Natura Viva nasce negli anni '60, il parco era più piccolo di adesso e aveva come scopo principale quello di dare la possibilità ai visitatori di ammirare da vicino la fauna locale e alcuni esemplari di animali esotici, salvati da un circo.

Nel corso del tempo , sono state aggiunte alcune nuove aree come il settore Safari, che ospita uccelli africani, l’Aquaterrarium, la Serra Tropicale e l'area Dinosauri dove è possibile ammirare ricostruzioni di dinosauri a grandezza reale.

Il Parco Zoo Safari di Bussolengo (VR) si può visitare a bordo della propria auto, guidando a pochi metri da zebre, antilopi, leoni e molti altri animali dell’Africa.

Al Parco Natura Viva , potrete conoscere da vicino gli animali di tutti i continenti e imparare un sacco di cose interessanti su di loro. Il parco naturale ha ormai assunto un ruolo attivo nella tutela della biodiversità e della ricerca scientifica.

Lo scopo del parco

Il parco cerca anche di trasmettere ai bambini , in modo divertente, l’importanza di temi come l’educazione ambientale e cerca di sensibilizzare i visitatori sull'importanza della conservazione delle specie. Per i bambini e le scuole il parco propone progetti speciali ed emozionanti.

Parco Natura Viva  in Bussolengo (Verona) is a modern  animal park  dedicated to the care and conservation of  animals from all over the world , housed in large areas that faithfully reproduce their  original habitats.  The safari park in Verona is a  center for the protection  of endangered species and its main objective is the  conservation of biodiversity  thanks to the caring of animals, research and environmental education. But what makes Natura Viva special is its  zoo safari route  to be followed onboard your vehicle, to admire from a short distance freely roaming  antelopes, gnu, lions, cheetahs  and other wonderful species! The Verona Natura Viva Wildlife Park is divided into  five main areas  representing the  five continents :  42 hectares of verdant woods  on morainic hills where  1500 animals of 200 different species  roam undisturbed. But there is more! Little ones will be enchanted by  Extinction Park , an area housing  life-size models of dinosaurs  and other extinct animals. And in the  House of Giants , the new tropical greenhouse dedicated to  giant and dwarf animals , you will learn about fascinating predators and the places that have contributed to their evolution.

PARCO NATURA VIVA: DINING AND ADDITIONAL SERVICES

The safari zoo in Verona offers its guests many  additional services  such as  refreshment points ,  car rental  to participate in the Safari,  picnic areas  where you can eat your packed lunch, free wi-fi, and  services for children  (high chairs, play areas, toilets with changing tables, stroller rental, etc ...).

PARCO NATURA VIVA RULES

The Park is divided into  two main areas , each with precise rules to follow.

  Natura Viva Wildlife Park

• Do not feed the animals. This is a very important safety rule: failure to comply with this may result in the expulsion from the Park and, in some cases, in legal action being pursued.
• Follow the mapped routes.
• Do not walk over walls and fences.
• Do not enter the areas reserved for authorized personnel only.
• Use the provided waste bins and follow recycling rules.
• Do not disturb the animals, no knocking on windows and no screaming.  
• It is strictly forbidden to get off your car.
• You must keep your dog or cat inside pet carrier approved by current legislation.
• Doors and windows of your vehicle must be kept shut along the entire Safari route.
• All Natura Viva animals you meet on the road have right of way.
• Do not disturb the animals, do not feed them and do not throw anything out of the window.
• If your car breaks down, sound the horn three times and please stay inside your car and wait for assistance.
• After the visit of the Safari Park you can access parking areas 1, 2 or 3 and start a visit of the Fauna Park.
• Please follow the rules strictly. The management will accept no responsibility for any damage which may be caused to your car during the visit.
• Strictly adhere to the rules. The management declines all responsibility for any damage suffered by the vehicle during the visit.

• The voucher is your  entry ticket  and entitles you to enter  without waiting at the ticket office : show it printed or on your smartphone directly at the entrance, without going to the ticket office. Entry to Parco Natura Viva Safari Park in Verona is controlled by optical scanners which bar entry to those without a voucher.

A pochi chilometri dal lago di Garda in direzione Verona, un parco zoo immerso nel verde delle colline moreniche, dove si trova la formula zoo e il safari in macchina

Il Parco Natura Viva  Zoo Safari di Bussolengo, si trova sulla strada verso Pastrengo, apre nel 1969 con un primo settore di dieci ettari che corrispondeva all’attuale Parco Faunistico, si estende nel 1973 con il Parco Safari dedicato ai mammiferi africani visitabile in macchina; nel 1978 si amplia ulteriormente con Aquaterrarium, la Serra Tropicale e Extinction Park. Da sempre il parco ha assunto anche il ruolo di tutela delle specie di animali a minaccia d’estinzione ed ora è sempre più rivolto verso il ruolo di educazione ambientale, con visite guidate, virtual tour, app per smartphone, un calendario ricco di eventi per famiglie e bambini come le feste di compleanno, i centri estivi, i corsi estivi, il summer camp, ecc. Al suo interno trovate punti di ristoro ed aree ricreative.

Descrizione del parco natura viva: area faunistica e zoo safari.

Il Parco Natura Viva a Bussolengo , situato a pochi chilometri da Verona e dai famosi parchi a tema del Lago di Garda: Gardaland e Movieland , è uno dei giardini zoologici più grandi e visitati d'Italia. La struttura, attiva dal 1969, rappresenta uno dei principali centri per la conservazione delle specie animali in pericolo di estinzione ed è suddivisa in due sezioni (entrambe visitabili con un unico biglietto): lo zoo safari con tracciato di 5 chilometri da compiere a bordo della propria auto e il parco faunistico con percorso pedonale che si snoda all'interno di un bosco di quercie secolari. Il circuito zoo safari conduce i visitatori del Parco Natura Viva alla scoperta degli abitanti della savana africana; un affascinate viaggio della durata di circa 40 minuti che permette di osservare da vicino giraffe, gnu, struzzi, antilopi, lemuri ... e i grandi carnivori: leoni, ghepardi, iene maculate. Il parco faunistico , invece, è una grande zona verde, suddivisa per aree geografiche, dove trovano casa animali di tutti i continenti. Il primo step della visita è rappresentato dai "Sentieri d'Africa", un percorso pedonale dove barriere naturali consentono di ammirare ippotami, rinoceronti, antilopi e scimpanzè in totale sicurezza, e dalle zone Australia e Madagascar. Si prosegue poi verso l'Asia, con i cammelli, il panda rosso, la tigre siberiana e il ghepardo delle nevi, per arrivare alle grandi voliere dei rapaci e al sentiero dedicato agli animali del Sud America. Da questa zona del Parco Natura Viva si accede all' Extinction Park , dove è possibile ripercorrere l'affascinate storia dell'evoluzione sulla Terra attraverso l'esposizione di spettacolari modelli in scala reale che riproducono Dinosauri e grandi mammiferi del passato. Il percorso continua con la grande voliera dei pappagalli, la serra tropicale, il rettilario e la fattoria, fino a raggiungere l'area Europa (dove vivono i lupi , la lince , il gatto selvatico, il muflone) e la Borealia, dedicata agli animali del freddo come le renne e il gufo delle nevi. La visita completa del parco faunistico richiede almeno 4 ore (la durata è a discrezione dei visitatori). Lungo il percorso sono presenti toilette, aree giochi, l'area pic-nic e punti ristoro. Per le famiglie con bambini il Parco Natura Viva mette a disposizione un servizio di noleggio passeggini. Durante tutta la stagione lo zoo safari di Bussolengo propone laboratori didattici e attività ludiche ed educative pensate per le famiglie e le scolaresche. Nel 2019 il Parco Natura Viva è stato visitato da oltre 400.000 persone.

IN AUTO: per chi proviene da Milano sull'autostrada Milano-Venezia uscire a Sommacampagna (Verona); per chi proviene da Venezia e da Bologna uscire a Verona Nord; per chi proviene da Trento sull'autostrada del Brennero uscire a Affi. Seguire poi le indicazioni stradali per raggiungere il Parco Natura Viva - Zoo Safari . Superate le bandiere dell'ingresso si trova subito un bivio: a sinistra si raggiungono i parcheggi per auto e camper e la sezione percorso faunistico, mentre da destra si raggiunge direttamente la biglietteria del percorso zoo safari. Lo Zoo Safari sul Garda 

Se in passato si chiamava Parco Zoo del Garda (è nato nel 1969), oggi il  parco – safari  è un luogo con tante diverse funzioni. Accoglie per le visite guidate, ma è anche un centro di studio sulla biologia e il comportamento della fauna esotica. Scoprirai tanti progetti per conservare questo eco-sistema, dopo averlo ammirato. Insomma, un parco adatto sia ai bambini, sia agli adulti che amano il mondo animale!

Tra boschi e verde nel territorio di  Bussolengo , il Parco Natura Viva si trova vicino al lago e poco distante da Verona. Una posizione comoda per chi desidera fare un’escursione diversa dal solito, attraversando i circa 42 ettari dello zoo safari.  È un ambiente unico, dove poter osservare i tantissimi animali ospitati: circa 1.500, per  250 specie diverse !

I percorsi della visita al Parco Natura Viva

L’esplorazione del parco può essere fatta tramite due percorsi distinti, pensati a seconda delle esigenze e delle preferenze.

Puoi prendere il  Parco Faunistico,  in cui si snodano dei sentieri per le passeggiate a piedi, per una durata di circa 4 ore. 

In questo tragitto, incontrerai diversi animali, scoprendo degli angoli ispirati ai 5 continenti del nostro pianeta. Lo spettacolo naturale sarà alla tua portata nel Fauna Park, e troverai lungo il percorso diversi punti di ristoro con panchine per rilassarti, oltre ai bar e ristoranti per il nutrimento.

In alternativa, puoi seguire il percorso dello  Zoo Safari,  ma questa visita si può fare solamente rimanendo sulla propria auto, tramite un accesso separato.

In questo caso la visuale sarà emozionante, perché passerai vicino a specie animali esotiche, ovviamente andando piano per non spaventarli. Il percorso dura più o meno 40 minuti, se i visitatori non sono troppi (allora ci vuole un po’ più di tempo).

Scopriamo qualche informazione utile, per ogni tipo di tragitto che sceglierai o se vuoi fare entrambi!

Il Percorso Faunistico a piedi nel Parco Natura Viva

Dall’ingresso del parco, il sentiero ti indica a sinistra la zona da percorrere passeggiando.

Inizia con i  sentieri d’Africa , in cui puoi vedere animali di questo continente come il rinoceronte, l’antilope, i favolosi ghepardi e leoni, il rinoceronte bianco, gli scimpanzé e… l’ippopotamo. In passato, nel vecchio Parco Zoo del Garda, l’ippopotamo Pippo era il più amato dai bambini. Alcuni animali africani sono una scoperta, essendo solitamente sconosciuti alla maggior parte di noi, come il sitatunga e il nyala.

Proseguendo, si entra nelle  zone del Madagascar e dell’Oceania , dove trovi bellissime specie come il cigno reale, il lemure del bambù, l’emù e il canguro wallaby dal collo rosso.

Durante il percorso incontrerai aree gioco e picnic, fino ad arrivare alla zona dedicata al continente asiatico.

Lungo il  sentiero dell’Asia  conosci specie sorprendenti come i panda rossi, la tigre siberiana, il leopardo delle nevi oltre ai cammelli. Continuando, arrivi alle grandi  voliere  con gli splendidi rapaci come gli avvoltoi.

Un’altra tappa è quella verso gli  animali del Sud America,  come il tapiro, che prosegue in una zona riservata alle tartarughe e ai  rettili . Scoprirai un’enorme  serra tropicale , pensata per l’immersione in un mondo decisamente unico, tra specie giganti, nane e predatori!

Passeggiando nel Parco Natura Viva potrai anche visitare una  fattoria  con animali più noti come caprette e porcellini d’india, per poi arrivare al  sentiero Europa . Qui trovi la fauna del nostro continente, con esemplari come il lupo, la lince, il bisonte europeo o il fenicottero rosa. Avanzando verso il percorso  Borealia,  ti ritrovi in un’area riservata agli animali del clima più freddo –  il gufo delle nevi, il gufo reale siberiano, le simpatiche renne…

La parte forse più interessante per i bambini è quella dedicata agli animali preistorici, l’ Extinction Park . Un luogo dove si ricordano le bestie del passato dai nomi inquietanti, come lo Stegosaurus o lo Spinosaurus.

Il Percorso in auto nello Zoo Safari a Bussolengo 

È un’alternativa oppure un complemento per l’esplorazione del Parco Natura Viva – la maggior parte dei visitatori fa entrambi i percorsi!  Mettiti alla guida, e puoi entrare a destra verso la sezione   Zoo del Lago di Garda, che è ormai un  Safari in auto !

Inauguri  la strada scoprendo gli  animali della Savana , dai più celebri leoni e ghepardi, fino alle giraffe e agli gnu. Si incontrano nel percorso iene maculate, struzzi, antilopi, il particolare bue dei Watussi, e animali poco conosciuti, che meravigliano. Come i lichi del Nilo, il potamocero o la gelada detta “scimmia dal cuore sanguinante”.

Il  Safari d’Africa nel Parco Natura Viva  riserva un’emozione intensa, perfetta a conclusione del percorso a piedi.  Se le auto non sono troppe e si preferisce iniziare da qui, si può anticipare questo giro e poi riservarsi la passeggiata per il resto della giornata.

Per chi si preoccupa del benessere animale durante il Safari, può rassicurarsi del fatto che viene fatto rispettare il regolamento per la loro tutela. I finestrini devono essere chiusi, è vietato suonare il clacson o dare da mangiare agli ospiti del parco a quattro zampe.

Per chi cerca un’area ristoro, dopo il Safari in auto, all’interno del Parco Natura Viva sono tanti i punti dove sostare per bere e mangiare, ispirati alla vita naturale dei vari continenti.

Puoi scegliere il Simba Self, il self service “in Africa”, oppure i bar con panini e pizze come il Gombe Bar e il Timbavati Bar. Se preferisci hamburger, patatine e gelati, puoi dirigerti verso il Manas Fast Food.

Progetti e iniziative speciali al Natura Viva Zoo Safari

Animali che vanno e che vengono… già, perché questo parco è impegnato nelle ricerche per migliorare la vita della fauna nella struttura, ma a volte anche per  reinserire gli animali nella natura.  Il Parco Natura Viva partecipa ai progetti di reintroduzione di alcune specie, tra cui il grifone, l’ibis eremita, il bisonte europeo, la lince. 

La ricerca aiuta anche le  specie in via di estinzione,  tramite la conservazione di quelle in difficoltà come l’orso andino o i lemuri del Madagascar. 

Oltre al divertimento, quindi, tante iniziative sono rivolte alla  conoscenza del mondo animale . Per suscitar interesse nei visitatori, sull’habitat naturale e il benessere necessario agli ospiti dello Zoo sul Lago di Garda. 

Per questo, tutte le domeniche e i giorni festivi vengono organizzati degli incontri con lo staff del Parco Natura Viva. Si può partecipare alla  merenda degli animali,  per i cuccioli del parco, oppure seguire dei corsi, dei  laboratori con biologi ed educatori  il sabato.

Nei giorni di Pasqua e di Pasquetta, invece, solitamente si organizza il  gioco Caccia alle uova;  ideale per i più piccoli che ricevono degli indizi e devono risolvere degli enigmi.

Come raggiungere il Parco Natura Viva Zoo Safari di Bussolengo

• Dall’autostrada del Brennero A22 prendere l’uscita Affi e proseguire sulla SR 450 in direzione Peschiera del Garda. Prendere l’uscita per Pastrengo e continuare sulla SP5 seguendo le indicazioni stradali per il Safari Park.
• Il Parco dista pochi chilometri dal Lago di Garda e dalle principali località: 10 km dal Parco Gardaland di Castelnuovo del Garda – 18 km da Peschiera del Garda – 30 km da Sirmione – 35 km da Desenzano del Garda.
• Sono presenti 3 parcheggi a pagamento per i visitatori del Parco Natura Viva Garda – Zoological Park. Parcheggi P2 P3: costo giornaliero di 2 Euro per auto e moto – costo giornaliero di 3 Euro per i camper Parcheggio P1: gratuito e riservato ai visitatori abbonati, disabili, biciclette e bus.

• Orario Percorso Faunistico: 9:00 – 17:00 – Ultimo ingresso consentito: 1 ora prima dell’orario di chiusura.
• Orario Percorso Safari: 9:30 – 15:00 – il Safari chiude 30 minuti dopo l’ultimo ingresso. 
• Il parco è visitabile soltanto su  prenotazione obbligatoria  con un ingresso limitato di visitatori.
• Il biglietto di ingresso è giornaliero. Il costo comprende la visita all’area pedonale Faunistica (Extinction Park, House of Giant, Serra Tropicale) e al Safari a bordo della propria auto.

This list includes the best amusement parks, adventure parks, and water parks around and near italy’s largest lake. for completeness of records and to satisfy all types of personal interests, there is even a zoo park, two garden parks, and two spa parks thrown in the mix .

If you are planning a day trip, a weekend break or a longer holiday at Italy’s Lake Garda, this list will come in very handy as it gives you lots of ideas about the fun places to visit and the fun things to do here. I’ve compiled the information below based on my own experiences at Lake Garda – one of my most favourite places to visit and explore.

During the six years that I spent living in Italy, Lago di Garda was the destination that I returned to the most. From its cute lakefront towns to its villages , beaches , castles , hiking paths , and theme parks, I ticked off Lake Garda’s attractions one by one. Now, I am only too happy to pass the word along coupled with my personal recommendations about this must-see place in Italy.

So, speaking of Lake Garda’s attractions, let me tell you! Italy’s largest lake is home to some of Italy’s best and largest theme parks. You will have a wonderful time here no matter if you are visiting with your kids, solo or in the company of friends.

Now, to make your travel planning as easy as possible, I have organised the Lake Garda theme parks in this blog post into the following groups: adventure parks , amusement parks , water and spa parks , and other parks . I have provided links to their official websites and (where available) official ticket resellers so that you can check opening times, facilities, and travel directions, as well as purchase tickets for your visit.

In addition, at the end of this blog post, I have also included a short section with practical tips about visiting Lake Garda’s theme parks by car and public transport.

Now, let’s start!

I. Adventure Parks at Lake Garda, Italy

You will find several adventure parks in the lush forests and hills around Italy’s largest lake. Offering obstacle courses, zip lines, and rope climbing activities to suit different age groups and physical abilities, they are a great place to get active and feel energised.

On a clear-sky day, there is nothing better than to head to one of these five adventure parks. In the bosom of Lake Garda’s verdant nature, you get to have lots of fun while testing your endurance.

I am particularly fond of the zip lines. Zipping from tree to tree several metres above the ground truly makes me feel alive.

Give it a try!

1. Flying Frogs Adventure Park – head to this adventure park if you are spending time on the western shore of Italy’s Lake Garda. The nearest lakefront towns are Gargnano and Limone sul Garda.

The adventure park is immersed in lush woods and fields. It is a peaceful area where you can both relax over a picnic and have fun at one of the three aerial routes. Or get the adrenaline flowing zipping down the Big Zip – a long zip line that will make you fly over vast fields.

The minimum age for the easiest route is 3 years. The medium route goes up to a height of five metres and can be tackled by anyone over 6 years of age. The most difficult route has a minimum age restriction of 10 years and you will need to climb up to adventure platforms at a height of 10 metres.

Nearby, you can visit the Sanctuary of Montecastello which affords splendid bird’s-eye views of Lake Garda. A hiking path leads to the beautiful Cascate di Piovere (also known as Cascate di Tignale). Or you can drive along the Strada della Forra – renowned as one of the most beautiful roads in the world – to Tremosine sul Garda – a medieval village which is officially declared as one of the most beautiful in Italy.

2. La Quiete Adventure Park – this is a really cool adventure park just off the southern shore of Italy’s Lake Garda. It’s part of the large water park La Quiete (see the heading Water Parks at Lake Garda, Italy below for further details). It’s also a short driving distance away from the lakefront towns of Desenzano del Garda and Peschiera del Garda.

There are four routes here aimed at different ages and abilities. The easiest one can be tackled by children of 8 years of age (minimum height of 120 cm). The most difficult one has ten adventure platforms at a height of eight metres and can be tacked by teenagers and adults (minimum age – 14 years, minimum height – 140 cm).

In addition, there is a zip line called The Eagle. It’s 130 m long and starts at a height of seven metres. Minimum age – 9 years, minimum height – 120 cm.

La Quiete Adventure Park also rents quad bikes and e-bikes and organises quad bike, e-bike, and canoe tours.

3. Jungle Adventure Park – this was the first adventure park to be built in Italy. You will find it a stone’s throw away from the charming small town of San Zeno di Montagna in the lush hills above Lake Garda. This adventure park is very easy to reach from anywhere on the lake’s eastern and southern shores. The nearest lakefront towns are Torri del Benaco and Castelletto sul Garda.

There are 120 adventure platforms here split between four routes of varying difficulty. Even better, this adventure park also has a Baby Park suitable for kids of 3 to 6 years of age, thus making it a great destination for families.

There is also a small playground, three picnic areas, and a sunbathing space, so you can easily spend an hour or two here relaxing after all the exercise.

Two paths give you a chance to go for a nice and pleasant walk in the vicinity of the adventure park. The botanical path – Sentiero Botanico – is flanked by typical for the area trees and shrubs. The fitness path – Sentiero Fitness – is longer, circular and allows you to explore this beautiful corner of Lake Garda in more depth.

4. Parco Avventura Busatte – this is a great adventure park at the northern extremity of Lake Garda. It’s an easy drive away from the lakefront towns of Riva del Garda , Torbole, and even Malcesine . Click here for tickets .

The adventure park has a good variety of courses suitable for children and adults. There are five aerial routes with 50 platforms at a height varying from two to 15 m. The minimum height for the easiest route is 1,25 m.

Parco Avventura Busatte is right next to the trail of one of the best Lake Garda hikes – Sentiero Busatte-Tempesta. This way, you can spend a couple of hours climbing trees and zipping from platform to platform and then you can go for a nice hike with splendid lake views.

In addition, a small restaurant with a large open-air seating area operates near this adventure park. A large car park stands right next to the restaurant. Once you’ve parked, the walk to Parco Avventura Busatte takes only a couple of minutes.

5. Rimbalzello Adventure Park – this adventure park is perfect to visit if you are spending time on the western or the southern shores of Italy’s Lake Garda. The nearest lakefront towns are Gardone Riviera and Salo’ .

There are five different routes here aimed at kids and adults. Of these two are baby routes with children needing to be of a minimum height of 100 cm to use them. Then there is an easy and a medium route with their platforms at a height of respectively two and five metres above the ground. The most difficult route reaches a height of 15 metres and offers a stunning panoramic view, a climbing wall, and three zip lines.

Rimbalzello Adventure Park is very close to the lakefront so you can combine it with a visit to the beach, lunch in a nearby restaurant or even a boat tour on the lake.

N.B.: Lake Garda’s adventure parks operate seasonally. Usually, they are open every day during the high season from June to August with then opening on selected weekends during the autumn. Some of them also require an advance booking.

II. Amusement Parks at Lake Garda, Italy

Lake Garda is the place where you will find Italy’s largest and best amusement parks. If you want to have fun, book a visit to Lago di Garda as soon as possible. Clustered around the southeastern corner of the lake and easy to get to from the local train station of Peschiera del Garda are three large amusement parks where you can have a truly wonderful time with your family and friends.

And then an easy drive away from Lake Garda, discover a fourth Italian amusement park that little kids will simply love to explore.

Expect countless rides, thematic corners, lavish spectacles, fun adventures, and seasonal events. I particularly love the Magic Winter festival at Gardaland. It was always one of the highlights of my Italian Christmas .

1. CanevaWorld Resort – with two theme parks – Movieland the Hollywood Park and Caneva the Aquapark – and three theme restaurants, this is an amazing place to visit right on the shores of Lake Garda.

You can either visit the two parks on the same day by buying a combined ticket or dedicate a day (or more) to each. There is a great selection of rides, slides, and attractions for the whole family in both parks to keep you happily occupied for hours. The volcano and the wave pool in Caneva the Aquapark were my favourites!

For lunch or dinner with a difference, head to one of the three on-site restaurants:

• Safari Pizza – for an Italian pizza with an interactive savannah adventure;
• Medieval Times – for dinner and show in a setting plucked from a fun version of the Middle Ages where love prevails and the best knight wins;
• Rock Star Restaurant – for an American style food in an all-you-can-eat format.

2. Gardaland – this is Italy’s largest amusement park and resort. It is a great place to spend a whole day (or more) at. The rides and attractions here keep the whole family having fun from morning till dusk. The entertainment shows are spectacular, too.

You can either visit Gardaland during the high season from April/May to September or you can come for the special Halloween and Magic Winter events. If you choose the latter, expect the most amazing and funnest Christmas adventures including a visit to Santa’s House which is staffed by cookie-baking elves.

Gardaland is also where you can visit two additional Lake Garda theme parks:

• Italy’s first Legoland Water Park (see the heading Water Parks at Lake Garda, Italy below for further details); and
• Gardaland Sealife Aquarium – Italy’s first fully themed aquarium. It has 40 pools and it’s home to over 5,000 creatures that represent the fauna of Lake Garda and the world’s seas and oceans. It’s a great place to experience for yourself, especially on a rainy day when you still want to be surrounded by water without getting wet. Have a look here for tickets .

Legoland Water Park is on the territory of Gardaland. Gardaland Sealife Aquarium is just across the large car park from Gardaland.

To simplify your Italy travel planning, when visiting Lake Garda and its theme parks you can choose to stay in the Gardaland Resort. It has three thematic hotels –  Gardaland Hotel ,  Gardaland Adventure Hotel , and  Gardaland Magic Hotel . As well as thematic restaurants and even more fun activities to keep the whole family happy.

3. Leolandia – this is one of the major amusement parks in Italy. It is geared specifically to younger kids and their families. It’s on the outskirts of Milan , so it’s just over an hour away by car from the southern shores of Lake Garda.

With dozens of attractions and rides plus many exciting seasonal events, Leolandia is a great place to head to with the whole family. This theme park could be a great destination if you are spending a week or longer on Lake Garda and want to branch out and explore more of Northern Italy .

N.B.: Lake Garda’s amusement parks operate seasonally. Usually, they are open during the high season from April/May to September. Then some of them may open on selected weekends and/or days during the Halloween and the Christmas seasons.

III. Water and Spa Parks at Lake Garda, Italy

Lake Garda is great to swim in if you like cool waters and mostly pebbly beaches . The rest of the time is so much nicer to head to one of the many fun water parks that abound on the shores of Italy’s largest lake.

With swimming pools of different sizes, with rides and slides that provide oodles of fun, Lake Garda’s water parks are a must-see destination on a hot summer day. Some of them are outfitted with wave pools, some have lagoons, and one even has an active replica volcano! A few are fed by thermal waters, too and offer a range of spa facilities.

Here are the best water parks to head to with family and friends at Italy’s Lake Garda!

1. Aquardens Spa Verona – these large thermal baths are just off the southern edge of Lake Garda and are easy to access from many lakefront towns like Lazise and Bardolino. Expect a succession of pools, lagoons, and waterfalls as well as an excellent wellness area. It’s not in vain that Aquardens is known as Italy’s largest and most modern spa centre. Kids of any age are also welcome here and there is lots to keep them active and happy for several hours.

2. Caneva the Aquapark – already mentioned above, this is a large and exciting water park where you can easily spend the whole day simply playing in the water and having fun. Among the funnest and best attractions here are the replica volcano, the lazy river, the Caribbean island, and the many different water slides. Alternatively, simply relax in one of the poolside cabanas and enjoy the hot Italian sun.

3. Cavour Water Park – this water park stands just off the southern edge of Lake Garda and it’s easy to access from the lakefront towns of Peschiera del Garda, Desenzano del Garda , Lazise, and Sirmione. It is a great place to spend a hot summer day at. There is lots to do and see here for the whole family.

Among the main attractions are Palm Beach, Paradise Island, the Rainforest water route, and the Kamikaze turbo slide. I particularly love the events held here, especially the Carnival Party.

You can also buy a combined ticket for Cavour Aquapark and the nearby Parco Giardino Sigurta’ (a beautiful garden park covered under the heading Other Parks at Lake Garda, Italy below).

4. Le Ninfee del Garda – halfway between Desenzano del Garda and Peschiera del Garda, this water park offers a lagoon pool, a semi-Olympic pool, different slides, and a rich entertainment programme.

5. Legoland Water Park at Gardaland – as mentioned above, this is Italy’s first Legoland water structure. It’s part of Italy’s largest amusement park – Gardaland – and can be accessed with a combo ticket for both. In case you have bought just a Gardaland ticket , then you can ask to pay a supplementary fee at the ticket office in order to access Legoland Water Park, too.

Some of the best attractions inside include River Adventure, Pirate Bay, and Jungle Oasis. Please, note, that adults can access this water park only if accompanying child(ren) under 12 years of age.

6. Parco La Quiete – a lovely water park near Desenzano del Garda and Peschiera del Garda on the southern shore of Italy’s Lake Garda. Come here for its dragon-themed playground, treasure island, lagoon pool and family pool. This water park also shares the grounds with the Le Quiete Adventure Park (see the heading Adventure Parks at Lake Garda, Italy above for further details).

7. Parco Termale Villa dei Cedri – come swim in the thermal lakes of this expansive water park near the town of Lazise on the southern shore of Italy’s Lake Garda. Expect whirlpools, a wellness centre, and a luxury hotel . All fed by thermal waters. Plus, opportunities to swim even late in the evenings and all year round!

8. Picoverde – this is a small water park a short drive away from the southern edge of Lake Garda. It’s very easy to access from the towns of Peschiera del Garda and Lazise. It has a lagoon pool, two Kamikaze slides, a playground, a natural pond, and an extensive sunbathing area. A special mention deserve the large on-site restaurant and pizzeria. Having fun in the water followed by a great Italian lunch has never sounded better!

N.B.: Most of Lake Garda’s water parks operate seasonally. Usually, they are open during the high season from May to September. A couple of them though, specifically Aquardens and Parco Termale Villa dei Cedri are open all throughout the year.

IV. Other Parks at Lake Garda, Italy

As I mentioned at the start of this blog post, for completeness of records and so that you have an exhaustive list of options to choose from, here are some more park-based attractions to head to at Lake Garda.

While they are not strictly theme parks as such, they all provide oodles of amusement and even chances for relaxation. Plus, all of them bring you closer to nature in the best and most beautiful way.

1. Heller Garden – this lush botanical garden was created at the start of the 20th century by Arturo Hruska – doctor and dentist to kings and popes. Hruska had a strong interest in botany and the natural world. He wanted a place where people could experience and enjoy the botanic richness of our planet. Finding the perfect spot near the town of Gardone Riviera on the western shore of Lake Garda, he established his garden which soon became very popular.

Later on, Hruska’s botanical garden was acquired by the Austrian multimedia visionary artist Andre Heller. A person of many talents, he has created several emblematic works of art and movies and has designed theatrical plays and shows, labyrinths, and even firework displays. Most notably, he is the designer of the experience attraction  Swarovski Crystal World  in Austria.

The Heller Garden is open for visits from March until October. Please, check the official website for current opening times .

2. Parco Giardino Sigurta’ – this is an enormous landscaped park just off the southern shore of Lake Garda. You can easily get there by car from a number of lakefront towns with Peschiera del Garda being the closest.

Sigurta’ is officially recognised as one of  the most beautiful parks in Italy  and Europe. Its lush lawns, millions of tulips and roses, small ponds, and long alleys are a delight to see and photograph. You can read more about it here:

3. Parco Natura Viva – you will find this large zoological and safari park just off the southern shore of Lake Garda. You can easily get there from a number of lakefront towns with Lazise being the closest.

This is one of Italy’s most important zoological collections and it’s also an important centre of conservation of endangered animal species.

Parco Natura Viva is open for visits all throughout the year with some seasonal closures. Please, check the official website for current opening times .

Practical Tips about Visiting the Theme Parks at Lake Garda, Italy

Here are some practical tips about visiting the adventure, amusement, water and other theme parks at Italy’s largest lake – Lago di Garda:

• The largest Lake Garda theme parks – for example, Gardaland, CanevaWorld, Cavour, Parco Giardino Sigurta’, Parco Natura Viva, and Aquardens – are clustered near each other on the southeastern shore. You can reach them from all corners of Lake Garda. They are especially convenient to reach from the lakefront towns of Peschiera del Garda, Lazise, Bardolino, Garda Town, Desenzano del Garda , and Sirmione.
• You can also easily reach Lake Garda’s largest theme parks from nearby Verona, Brescia, Milan, Vicenza , Padua , and even Venice and Bologna! A modern toll highway connects these large Italian cities to the shores of Lake Garda. • If you prefer, you can rent a car for your trip to Lake Garda’s theme parks. For tips about driving around Italy’s largest lake, have a look at point 2 in this detailed blog post .
• Otherwise, you can easily reach Gardaland, Gardaland Sealife Aquarium, and CanevaWorld (Caneva Aquapark and Movieland) by train. High-speed trains and fast regional trains connect several large Italian cities to the lakefront town of Peschiera del Garda. • The theme parks at Lake Garda are very popular, especially during the high season. Plan for longer waiting times for the different rides and lots of people.
• In summer the weather gets very hot. Make sure that you keep hydrated and use sunscreen liberally.
• Eateries, food kiosks, and restaurants are easy to come across in almost all of Lake Garda’s theme parks. Some of them may have restrictions on food brought from home. Please, always check the official websites and adhere to the theme park’s requirements. To make it easy for you, I have provided links to the official websites of all theme parks in this blog post.
• If you want to avoid the crowds as much as possible, consider visiting Lake Garda’s theme parks during the shoulder season (April/May and September/October) depending on their specific opening times.
• Bear in mind, that most of the theme parks around Lake Garda are closed during the low season. Gardaland re-opens for a few weekends in November for Halloween and then for selected dates in December and the first week in January for its annual Magic Winter extravaganza which is a must-see.
• To fully experience the theme parks at Lake Garda, consider spending a full day at each of the largest ones. You can also buy a ticket valid for two days or a seasonal pass. For Gardaland Sea Life Aquarium , a couple of hours to half a day is plenty.
• You can also book to spend the night or a longer holiday at Gardaland Resort. There are three thematic hotels here: Gardaland Hotel ,  Gardaland Adventure Hotel , and  Gardaland Magic Hotel .
• If you are strapped for time, then you can buy an afternoon ticket for some of the Lake Garda theme parks which is also a more inexpensive option to visit.
