Tunic walkthrough: every area, boss, and dungeon

Our full walkthrough will guide you through every area, dungeon, and boss in Tunic

Looking for a Tunic walkthrough? Tunic is a sprawling game that harkens back to old Zelda adventures. With multiple maps to explore, sprawling dungeons to navigate, and powerful bosses to defeat, Tunic can feel overwhelming for the unprepared. Fortunately, we're here to help with our Tunic walkthrough.

Below, we'll take you through each step of Tunic's main quest so that you can complete the game without getting lost in dark caves and eerie forests.

How to get into the Sealed Temple in Tunic

Your first goal in Tunic is to get into the Sealed Temple. The large golden doors are initially locked, but you can eventually get inside. To do this, you need to ring the bells in the East and West Belltowers. Below, we walk you through how to get to both Belltowers so that you can enter the Sealed Temple, while also explaining how to get some crucial early-game items. We'll also explain how to defeat the first true boss in Tunic.

  • How to get a sword
  • How to level up
  • East Forest guide
  • How to get a shield
  • How to get a lantern
  • West Garden guide
  • Garden Knight boss fight guide

The guides above will take you from the first moment when you wake up on the beach through to the first major boss and the Sealed Temple.

How to get the three keys in Tunic

After defeating the Garden Knight and ringing the bell in the West Belltower, you can make your way back to the Sealed Temple. Interact with the doors again to enter the Temple, and then make your way through to find a large contraption in the centre. There are three slots here, each requiring a key.

There are three keys (red, green, and blue) scattered around the world in large dungeons that you must collect. The next series of guides will walk you through how to get your hands on each key and how to defeat the many bosses you'll face on this journey.

  • How to get the wand
  • Forest Fortress guide/How to get the red key
  • Siege Engine boss fight guide
  • How to get the magic orb/grappling hook in Tunic
  • Ruined Atoll guide/How to get the green key
  • Librarian boss fight guide

More guides are on the way!

That wraps up our Tunic walkthrough. If you want to know more about what we thought of this isometric action-adventure, take a look at our Tunic review to find out why we think it's "a cunning Zelda homage with a touch of Souls".

Pokémon Legends Z-A Leaker Teases An Incredibly Rare Pokémon's Return After 5 Years

Leaked upcoming star wars game will be an 18-year first that fans have been waiting for, paper mario: ttyd reveals 3 new features to make the switch remake its definitive version.

Adventuring through  Tunic 's mysterious world can be challenging, but there are some strategies players can use to make it easier. The most important thing to remember while playing through  Tunic is that there is always another secret to discover. Players can run along the sides of buildings or head toward a seemingly dead end, then find a route that leads to a new area. Finding items and instruction pages along the way is also vital to completing the adventure.

There are a few basic mechanics to learn at the start of the fox's adventure in Tunic , like how to move around, dodge, or save the game, but most of the features are hidden in the instruction booklet. The pages appear as glowing objects on the ground. Players should collect every instruction page they come across if possible because they will reveal more about how the game works and what needs to be done to progress. The instruction booklet also contains dungeon and overworld maps that will mark the fox's location.

While a lot of  Tunic 's content involves exploring every region, there are also a variety of enemies and difficult bosses to fight . There are a few different weapons to collect as players progress, but the first one they find will be the sword. After obtaining the sword, players will be able to fight off monsters and find a shield as well as a range of magic weapons to attack with. Some enemies are much harder to defeat, but players can also upgrade their stats in  Tunic .

Stats Can Be Upgraded In Tunic

Along with collecting the instruction pages, players should also spend a decent amount of time exploring each area. There are a lot of hidden paths just outside of the camera's view, so running along the sides of buildings can reveal new routes to take. Finding new paths will sometimes lead to items that can be used to  upgrade the fox's stats in  Tunic . Upgrades can be acquired by offering special items from the inventory screen to fox statues, along with an increasing amount of coins. Players are able to upgrade the fox's attack, defense, potions, health, stamina, and magic.

Tunic Has Fast Travel

Throughout  Tunic , players will discover new mechanics that can open up different paths in familiar areas. For example, the fox will pray whenever players hold down the dodge and run button for three seconds. Praying can be used to interact with pillars, golden platforms, and other objects in the overworld that can lead to new dungeons, fast traveling, or other secrets. The golden platforms in particular are what players can use to fast travel in Tunic . It's recommended that players test out different mechanics like praying if they are unable to progress to the next area.

Save Some Tunic Dungeons For Later

Tunic 's world is open to explore from the start, but certain areas are much more difficult than others. For example, players may be able to cross a bridge and enter the Quarry early on, but there are health-draining crystals inside and the enemies are much stronger than the early game creatures. Exploring is encouraged, and players will eventually need to visit every area, but holding off on the difficult dungeons is recommended. The purpose for completing areas like the Quarry will also come later in the story, so there's no need to struggle through these sections in the beginning.

Tunic's Fox Can Be Invincible

For those that don't want to search for health upgrades,  Tunic gives players the option to be invincible. To turn this feature on, players can pause the game and go into the options menu. Under the Accessibility section, the option for unlimited health and stamina can be turned on. The fox will then be invincible for as long as these features stay on. While becoming invincible can save a lot of time and effort, it can also  make the game less interesting . Players should use invincibility at their discretion while fighting through difficult enemies and finding secrets in  Tunic .

Can you fast travel in Tunic? Answered

Image of Zoey Handley

Tunic doesn’t have the largest world in video games, but it does snake out in all directions. This becomes a problem since backtracking through its various maze-like tendrils can take a while. After a bit of traipsing past secrets you can’t immediately reach, you might begin to wonder if there’s a way to get around faster.

There is, but it’s limited.

One of the first landmarks you pass in Tunic is a gold square on the ground. Tunic never tells you directly what these tiles are for. You find hints of it in the instruction manual you put together as you explore, but it’s up to you to discern the meaning. If the answer is eluding you, then here’s how to shorten your treks.

Holding the dodge/interact button will put your fox into a prayer pose with energy erupting around them. This has multiple uses, such as powering up energy nodes scattered about. However, if you pray on a golden tile, you’ll be warped to a special hub area. From here, you can teleport to any area with an active node. From the outset, you won’t be able to get to most places until you’ve visited and powered up their nodes. It does, however, provide the earliest way to reach the Ruined Atoll.

Note that you can perform this trick as soon as you start the game, but you won’t be able to access the hub with all the warps. Both the Eastern Forest and the Overworld are disconnected from the main hub, so you won’t be able to get to them until you find a special item.

While the teleportation hub won’t help you break Tunic’s sequence, it’s the quickest way to get around to the various areas of the world after you’ve powered everything up.

Tunic: All Secret Fairy Locations

Quick links, all fairy locations, rewards for finding fairies, cheat for finding fairies.

Tunic is a cute game about a fox who travels around a beautiful landscape in search of another fox's spirit. The game features tons of puzzles and some fascinating activities that keep players on their toes in the best way possible.

One thing that players will do is find the many secret Fairies that are scattered around the game's map. These Fairies can be collected and sent back to their sacred gathering place. There are 20 Fairies in total and even a cheat code to help players find them. Here are their locations.

Tunic: Best Ability Cards, Ranked

These are the very best ability cards in Tunic.

There are 17 Fairies that can be found in the Overworld and West Garden , 1 that is found in the Ruined Atoll , 1 in The Quarry , and the final 1 in the Eastern Vault . Here is a breakdown of those Fairies:

The order of these Fairies is based on how they were found and not by any special order from the game. This means that some of the Fairies may be in a different order than players expect. Players can move on to the next one if they have already found the one mentioned.

8 Mistakes Everyone Makes While Playing Tunic

These are the most common mistakes made by players in Tunic.

Not only is finding all the Fairies required for 100% completing the game, but they also unlock one of the 12 Secret Treasures. For 10 Secret Fairies, the player will unlock new pages in the instruction manual ( which helps unlock the Mountain Door , allowing players to get the best ending). Finding all 20 Secret Fairies unlocks the Secret Treasure, which is put inside the Old House in the game.

Tunic: How to Get the 'Bring it to the Wrong Fight' Achievement Fast

One of Tunic's hardest challenges requires intimate knowledge of some late-game secrets.

According to the game's manual, the cheat code for finding Fairies is Up, Left, Up, Right, Down, Right, Right. This will cause the player to be swarmed by Fairies, helping them with a hint for their current Fairy Puzzle or leading the player to a Fairy, depending on which is applicable. The page of the manual shown above will show players where they can find Fairies as well.
