The 2024 GTI's fuel economy is similar to other sporty compact cars . When equipped with the dual-clutch automatic transmission, the GTI earns an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Models equipped with the six-speed manual are rated at 23/34 mpg city/highway.

The 2024 GTI simply doesn't feel as premium inside as previous models. There are a lot of noticeable hard plastics in the cabin, and while build quality is solid, the interior still feels a bit low-rent. The GTI is a four-door hatchback that accommodates up to five adults, and it offers a comfortable experience for most occupants. Upfront, the well-padded and bolstered sport seats provide ample comfort for extended journeys and secure positioning during high-speed cornering. While comfortable, the rear seats aren’t as accommodating as those in the front due largely to narrow hip room.

Among sporty compact cars , the GTI stands out for its practicality, and a contributing factor is its spacious cargo area. With 19.9 cubic feet of room behind the second row and an impressive 34.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, the GTI offers top-notch figures for the segment.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen GTI a Good Car?

Yes, the 2024 GTI is a very good car. Though not exceptionally fast, its handling is nimble and confidence-inspiring. The GTI's cabin is roomy, and there's plenty of cargo space thanks to its hatchback design. However, the infotainment system, while rich with features, lacks physical controls and requires heavy reliance on the touch screen.

Consider the GTI if you're in the market for a sporty car that's practical for everyday use. The 2024 Volkswagen GTI is offered in three trims: S, SE, and Autobahn. Each model is equipped with a 241-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Those seeking the manual transmission can get it as part of the 380 Equipment package that also includes the DCC adaptive damping system, black painted roof and side mirror caps, 19-inch gloss black multispoke alloy wheels and summer performance tires. This package is available on all three trims.

Volkswagen GTI S

The GTI S is priced from $31,965. It comes standard with plaid-patterned cloth upholstery, heated front sport seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touch screen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a seven-speaker stereo, automatic climate control, ambient LED interior lighting, wireless device charging, push-button start and four USB ports.

2024 Volkswagen GTI Safety

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI the highest rating of Good in the three crash tests conducted. In headlight testing, the Autobahn trim received the second-highest rating of Acceptable for forward visibility while the S and SE trims received the second-lowest rating of Marginal.

The IIHS uses a different scale for grading collision avoidance features. The GTI received the midtier rating of Advanced for its standard front crash prevention system.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not crash tested the 2024 GTI.

Gonzo Tuning / GTS Performance Experience Review

Hello, I am new here but was lurking on the forums for a few months now. I finally found the perfect first car on craigslist for me. I have always loved Beetles and grew up in them and drove a few models that my parents have had. They are fun little cars and get a lot of attention. I always wanted a faster car or a modded beetle but knew I had to find the one. I finally found a 2002 Turbo S Beetle with only 72k miles in excellent condition for a steal with only a few minor mechanical issues causing stalling due to rotten vacuum and breather hoses. I ended up getting the car fixed up and it was fast but not fast enough :laugh:. Anyways I decided the first step was a few minor mods like an upgraded DV and catless DP. I decided tuning was next. I know a lot of people are either really happy or really pissed with Gonzo Tuning / GTS Performance because of their lack of response and customer support. I decided to take the risk and just do it and worst comes to worst I am in good standing with my credit card company for about 5 years and would just chargeback if there was an issue. I wanted to spend as little as possible for the most gains while also trying to keep it reasonable and not try to blow up my engine or turbo. I also wanted to save as much gas as possible and stage 2 with the larger fuel pump as well as the info from Gonzo didn't seem like that was a great option for an extra $100 plus the parts $60 plus the extra gas and added risk of blowing an engine or turbo. I also went with Gonzo because I wanted the pops and crackles and 2 step is always appreciated especially at the car shows :laugh:yes I know 2 step is a bit extreme :laugh: but if I use it I know the risk. I emailed and asked a lot of questions beforehand and the responses were always quick 12 hours or less. I decided to got with the Stage 1 - AWW/AUM/AWP tune with the following options - Adjustable Launch Control: Hard with 2 Step and Antilag - Program Switching: Stock / Tuned + Selected Addons - Remote Tuning - Cat delete/Test pipe - Pops and Bangs - Hard Cut Rev Limiter I placed my order on 04/29/2020 and was promised the remote tune would ship the same day. Well, it didn't, and I had to send about 5 emails and messages to them to finally get the tracking number to see it shipped on 05/02/2020 and I received it on 05/04/2020. I was satisfied with the tracking number as I didn't have to worry about that step anymore. When I got the cord it was very odd as it did not include any info or directions on what to do. I emailed and messaged and got a response the next day 05/05/2020 to text his google voice number. I never got a response and sent multiple messages and emails. It was on 05/11/2020 at like 3 am that I finally got a response from him which I happened to be awake for. He guided me through all of the steps and uploaded my tune and helped me set everything up and was super friendly. It was super weird to be up at that time working on my car in my driveway and was very sketchy driving around at like 4-5 am trying to get everything like tune switching and launch control and pops and crackles working. I also had another boost leak that I rigged back together in the middle of this to get it working. The guy is definitely a night owl as I only ever got responses on email, messenger, and the phone at night from 10 pm to 5 am. Overall the car is amazingly fast now considering its a mostly stock car with just a tune. Before the tune, the car ran about 8 psi with spikes to 10 psi. With the tune, I get about 18 psi and spikes to 19-20 psi and tapers back to 15 or so before redline. I know the car was in the mid 6's without the tune and is now definitely a very low 5's. I love the boost by gear as the first gear does not need any more boost as it could already spin the tires all the way down the road. The second gear and up is crazy. With the higher rev limiter and increased boost and tune overall it is easy to do a 0-60 without the need to shift into 3 as second has power all the way till rev limiter. It is very easy to go way too fast now with just a little bit of gas :laugh:. The car also seems to build boost much faster and is super responsive when I floor it. The pops and bangs are quiet and are only noticeable if you downshift to over 5k rpm. I have a stock muffler which I am removing this week and going pretty much straight pipe with a straight-through muffler. The 2 step is crazy at just 3500-4500 rpm but not super loud and does actually manage to shoot tiny flames only visible at night from under the car as the stock exhaust tips on the stock muffler are open under the car. I hope both of these will be fixed and louder as the new pipe will be welded and stick out the back with a straight-through muffler. Had a few people with other VW's with tunes check it out and Stage 1 from Gonzo with my car on 93 blows most of their stage 2's away which is guess is why Gonzo is so recognized. Defiantly the most aggressive tune out there. Overall so far so good and I would recommend him to anyone who is patient and can wait and take the risk. I can't wait to test out the car more to see if the improved MPG economy is really there if I don't push the fun button all the time and if the vehicle speed limiter is removed. Not many places around me where I can do 130+ I know I hit 110 before the tune but I was out of closed-course road. Maybe with the tune, I could hit 130+ quicker in the same amount of road I guess but I am not sure I want to try.  

Gonzo is hit or miss. Seems like you hit. Do that 3” cat back and maybe a baffled muffler and roll it. Seems like when you hit him in the right moment you get results. Vampire hours it is then...  

Funny you mention that. I was planning on keeping it stock and replacing eventually however after about 3-4 times of 2 stepping the car I blew up the old rusty resinator and muffler in multiple places. Apparently, the 2 step needs a straight-through exhaust so I'm doing a custom all304 stainless 2.5" cat-back with a straight-through flow fx Flowmaster muffler so I can really shoot those 2 step flames ant not put backpressure on the system. 3" is overkill for a stock turbo and too loud for a stage 1 car. A smaller pipe aka 2.5 will have faster exhaust gas speeds out the back and will be better overall for a stock turbo.

I finally found a 2002 Turbo S Beetle with only 72k miles in excellent condition for a steal with only a few minor mechanical issues causing stalling due to rotten vacuum and breather hoses. I ended up getting the car fixed up and it was fast but not fast enough :laugh:. Anyways I decided the first step was a few minor mods like an upgraded DV and catless DP. I decided tuning was next. I know a lot of people are either really happy or really pissed with Gonzo Tuning / GTS Performance because of their lack of response and customer support. I decided to take the risk and just do it and worst comes to worst I am in good standing with my credit card company for about 5 years and would just chargeback if there was an issue. I wanted to spend as little as possible for the most gains while also trying to keep it reasonable and not try to blow up my engine or turbo. I also wanted to save as much gas as possible and stage 2 with the larger fuel pump as well as the info from Gonzo didn't seem like that was a great option for an extra $100 plus the parts $60 plus the extra gas and added risk of blowing an engine or turbo. I also went with Gonzo because I wanted the pops and crackles and 2 step is always appreciated especially at the car shows :laugh:yes I know 2 step is a bit extreme :laugh: but if I use it I know the risk. I emailed and asked a lot of questions beforehand and the responses were always quick 12 hours or less. I decided to got with the Stage 1 - AWW/AUM/AWP tune with the following options - Adjustable Launch Control: Hard with 2 Step and Antilag - Program Switching: Stock / Tuned + Selected Addons - Remote Tuning - Cat delete/Test pipe - Pops and Bangs - Hard Cut Rev Limiter I placed my order on 04/29/2020 and was promised the remote tune would ship the same day. Well, it didn't, and I had to send about 5 emails and messages to them to finally get the tracking number to see it shipped on 05/02/2020 and I received it on 05/04/2020. I was satisfied with the tracking number as I didn't have to worry about that step anymore. When I got the cord it was very odd as it did not include any info or directions on what to do. I emailed and messaged and got a response the next day 05/05/2020 to text his google voice number. I never got a response and sent multiple messages and emails. It was on 05/11/2020 at like 3 am that I finally got a response from him which I happened to be awake for. He guided me through all of the steps and uploaded my tune and helped me set everything up and was super friendly. It was super weird to be up at that time working on my car in my driveway and was very sketchy driving around at like 4-5 am trying to get everything like tune switching and launch control and pops and crackles working. I also had another boost leak that I rigged back together in the middle of this to get it working. The guy is definitely a night owl as I only ever got responses on email, messenger, and the phone at night from 10 pm to 5 am. Overall the car is amazingly fast now considering its a mostly stock car with just a tune. Before the tune, the car ran about 8 psi with spikes to 10 psi. With the tune, I get about 18 psi and spikes to 19-20 psi and tapers back to 15 or so before redline. I know the car was in the mid 6's without the tune and is now definitely a very low 5's. I love the boost by gear as the first gear does not need any more boost as it could already spin the tires all the way down the road. The second gear and up is crazy. With the higher rev limiter and increased boost and tune overall it is easy to do a 0-60 without the need to shift into 3 as second has power all the way till rev limiter. It is very easy to go way too fast now with just a little bit of gas :laugh:. The car also seems to build boost much faster and is super responsive when I floor it. The pops and bangs are quiet and are only noticeable if you downshift to over 5k rpm. I have a stock muffler which I am removing this week and going pretty much straight pipe with a straight-through muffler. The 2 step is crazy at just 3500-4500 rpm but not super loud and does actually manage to shoot tiny flames only visible at night from under the car as the stock exhaust tips on the stock muffler are open under the car. I hope both of these will be fixed and louder as the new pipe will be welded and stick out the back with a straight-through muffler. Had a few people with other VW's with tunes check it out and Stage 1 from Gonzo with my car on 93 blows most of their stage 2's away which is guess is why Gonzo is so recognized. Defiantly the most aggressive tune out there. Overall so far so good and I would recommend him to anyone who is patient and can wait and take the risk. I can't wait to test out the car more to see if the improved MPG economy is really there if I don't push the fun button all the time and if the vehicle speed limiter is removed. Not many places around me where I can do 130+ I know I hit 110 before the tune but I was out of closed-course road. Maybe with the tune, I could hit 130+ quicker in the same amount of road I guess but I am not sure I want to try. Click to expand...

First joint initiative launched: Volkswagen Group and Gett roll out attractive vehicle packages in Moscow

• Gett drivers in the Russian capital are being offered the Volkswagen Polo Sedan, Volkswagen Jetta, ŠKODA Rapid and the ŠKODA Octavia at preferential terms
• Special vehicle packages will greatly benefit Gett's driver-partners and accelerate Gett's growth in Moscow
• Volkswagen Group continues to expand its presence in the fast-growing mobility on demand market  

Wolfsburg / Moscow. The Volkswagen Group and global mobility provider Gett announced their strategic partnership in May this year. Now, the first joint initiative is being rolled out with attractive vehicle packages in Moscow's growth market. Gett drivers in the Russian capital can look forward to preferential terms when they choose a Volkswagen Polo Sedan, a Volkswagen Jetta, a ŠKODA Rapid or a ŠKODA Octavia.

Russia was chosen as the first milestone for the strategic partnership. Specifically Gett and Volkswagen will offer vehicle packages in order to support Gett's ambitious growth targets in this market. Russia is one of the fastest-growing ride hailing markets and has one of the highest e-Hailing rates in Europe (approx. 30 percent). e-Hailing is the process of ordering transportation via an app. A survey conducted among Gett drivers who own their taxis pinpointed drivers' specific requirements and vehicle preferences, to ensure maximum value to Gett's driver-partners. The Volkswagen Polo Sedan, Volkswagen Jetta, ŠKODA Rapid and the ŠKODA Octavia were identified as the preferred models for the customized vehicle packages, which include attractive financing and insurance terms from Volkswagen Financial Services AG. The close cooperation with Gett will also simplify both the standard down payment process and what has until now been a complex credit check procedure, thereby deliberately easing the barriers for entering the taxi business. The vehicle packages designed specifically for Russian drivers are to be provided directly by Gett; the vehicles will be delivered by local Volkswagen and ŠKODA dealers. Gett mobility services users in Moscow will be able to identify these vehicles via the co-branding on the side of the cars. At first, the vehicle packages will be offered to drivers with a particularly high monthly volume of rides for Gett. Later, the packages will be gradually offered to other Gett drivers as well. Philippine roads are littered with sporty crossovers and big SUVs, while  station wagons don't enjoy the kind of love that they did in the past. Cars today are all about looking sleek and futuristic. The old wagon body, meanwhile, looks kind of dated in comparison. You see the odd one here and there on the streets, but they're very much the minority.

It's too early to tell at this stage, but we get the feeling that the new Volkswagen Golf GTS  will change a lot of people's minds. Like the name implies, it's a longer version of the Golf hatchback. It's comfortable at steady speeds, but lively when you bury the deep throttle, living up to its Grand Touring Sport name. At P1.4 million , it has a lot to offer to a wide range of families and weekend warriors.
