The tour was structured very well and flowed easily; small groups felt more comfortable. Lunch was good and the itinerary made the 3 hour trip to Grand Canyon simple and engaging; Cody the guide was very knowledgeable on Arizona and I learned lots that I would not have known/seen otherwise. I also appreciated his commentary on Navajo nation, shows he knows his stuff about AZ. Coolest tour and very accommodating. 👍🏾 Would highly recommend. Read more Written 29 April 2024
  • S5529ECyvonned 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Very good option for those who don’t want to drive alone From inquiry to scheduling to pick up and the full day tour Cody was attentive and friendly. Couldn’t book solo through other websites but I was able to book for 1 directly through his website. He advised me to stay in the Scottsdale area as pick up was included from there. He sent a reminder the day before with things to bring and pick up time. Pick up was prompt. We made lots of stops for restrooms and snacks on our way up to Paige and our way back. Cody was very informative giving us information about the areas as we were driving. He took care of everything we didn’t have to book anything additional. The tour of antelope canyon was amazing and so was horeshoe bend. Be prepared to be out all day as Paige is about 3hrs (plus) from the phoenix area. The van is spacious and comfortable and provided good views during the drive. I would highly recommend this tour. Read more Written 28 April 2024

The tour itself was beautiful and an experience my son and I will never forget. The drive to the Grand Canyon and Sedona were absolutely beautiful. The hour and a half or so at the Grand Canyon gave us enough time to look at the buildings and scenery, same with Sedona. We got to tour Uptown Sedona and see the Red Rocks. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you Cody for a great day and tour! We will be doing another tour the next time we are in the area Read more Written 18 April 2024
  • Sam D 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Perfect Little Taste of the Grand Canyon and Sedona Cody was an amazing guide. From start to finish we got exactly what we paid for. This trip is worth the money. The free lunch provided was great and filling for the long day. We were able to stop and use the restrooms multiple times throughout the driving portions. The Grand Canyon was full of great views and I felt like we had a lot of time to check out a lot different angles walking around the park. Downtown Sedona was great for shopping and great red rock views. I felt like we had a good amount of time to explore the shops. We then left town to go to our last lookout. Bell rock and Courthouse rock were perfect endings to the day. I think trip is a great experience and gives you a little taste of the canyon and Sedona. Please support this great small business. Thank you for all your hard work Cody. It does not go unnoticed by your guests. Read more Written 17 April 2024

We decided to take this tour so we could sit back, relax and let someone else do the driving. We were very fortunate to stumble upon Cody and his company, Wandering Heart Adventures. Cody has a passion for Country and travel and it shows! He is not only very knowledgeable, he is extremely organized and because of his organization we were able to see the Grand Canyon, Grand Canyon Village, Sedona Valley, Oak Creek Canyon, Yavapai Point, plus do lots of shopping, any many stops for picturesque pictures with breathtaking views. (And, of course, bath room breaks along the way.) This trip also included an entrée lunch of our choice. He even picked us up at our Air bnb. Don’t wait. Book today to see one of the most beautiful natural wonders of the world and tell Cody the people from Maine suggested you to go. You will NOT be disappointed. Thank you Cody! p.s. Apache Trail Tour Itinerary

Only minutes from the city, the Apache Trail is the perfect way to experience the beauty of the Sonoran desert. Arizona’s first designated “Historic Highway” and a scenic byway, the original Apache Trail was a footpath by which the local Apache Tribe traveled through the Superstition Mountains. Two of the more colorful stops along the Apache Trail are Goldfield Ghost Town and Tortilla Flat.

Explore Goldfield Ghost Town & Tortilla Flat

Goldfield, aptly named after the precious metal found in the area, was incorporated in 1892. For five long years this town was a gold miner’s paradise, however, soon after the vein stopped producing Goldfield quickly turned into a gold mining ghost town. During the tour you will have a chance to spend time in this restored ghost town practicing your gold panning techniques, marveling at the original mining gear, or even spending some time at Lu Lu’s Bordello if you dare.

Tortilla Flat has become a fixture of the Apache Trail since its inception in 1904. Not fire, drought, or bandits could destroy this hearty stage stop which holds onto its rich tradition through its architecture and unique decorating sense. If you get too warm, you can quite literally “saddle up” to the bar and enjoy a cold beverage to cool you down. This rugged landscape in the Sonoran Desert has been the jewel that some men were looking for with the most famous involving the Lost Dutchman Mine. Rumored to have found the largest gold vein in the west, German immigrant Jacob Waltz trusted his newly found gold deposit to no one and the secret of its location was buried with him. If you have the “golden eye” maybe you can spot it while on tour!

Enjoy a Dolly Steamboat Cruise

During your tour along the Apache Trail, you will also be treated to a steamboat cruise on Canyon Lake by the famous Dolly Steamboat. As part of the six mile narrated nature cruise, there may be opportunities to see bighorn sheep, bald eagles, and a host of other desert animals as well as unforgettable views of 1,300 ft. volcanic cliff walls of Canyon Lake.

Latest: Man dies in crash of van, charter bus on I-74

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A 52-year-old man died in a crash of a van and a charter bus Monday afternoon on I-74 northwest of Shelbyville, Indiana State Police say.

He was identified the man as Jason Huber, of Boggstown, an unincorporated community in western Shelby County.

Nine passengers on the bus were taken to a hospital to be checked, but none of those injuries were considered to be serious, state police say. A news release issued Monday night from state police did not give any details about the charter bus owner, its driver or its destinations.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office sought the help of state police at the crash about 2 p.m. Monday on I-74 eastbound lanes between Michigan Road and State Road 9.

Police found Huber dead in the Dodge van that had collided with the back of the stopped bus. Traffic had been stopped in the area for unknown reasons, state police say.

State police say the interstate was closed for about two hours.

Video shows bus plunge off a bridge St. Petersburg, Russia, killing 7

May 10, 2024 / 8:06 PM EDT / CBS/AP

A bus swerved through traffic, veered off a bridge and plunged into a river on Friday in St. Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, killing seven people, officials said.

The Investigative Committee, Russia's top criminal investigations body, reported the death toll. It did not state how many others were injured, but the emergencies ministry earlier said that six people removed from the bus were in critical or serious condition.

Russian news reports said there were 15 to 20 people on the city bus when it broke through a barrier and plunged into the Moika River in central St. Petersburg. Six of those who were onboard climbed out of the water on their own.

Rescue workers lift the wreckage of a bus out of the Moyka River in St. Petersburg, Russia

A surveillance video released by the Russian media showed the bus driving fast, making a sharp turn onto the bridge, swerving across lanes and colliding with another vehicle before breaking through the barrier and falling into the water.

One witness described bystanders jumping into the water to try to help rescue passengers.

"They just dove in with their clothes on and helped," she said in Russian.

Authorities in St. Petersburg said that the owner of the bus had been fined 23 times for various violations. Private companies run most of the city's bus services.

Another witness said it looked like "either he was steering erratically or the brakes failed."

The bus driver was detained by police. His wife was quoted by Russian media as saying that managers forced him to work a morning shift after working for 20 hours the previous day and getting virtually no rest.

Authorities opened a criminal investigation into alleged traffic violations and unsafe travel services.

Remembering Black Dallas revives forgotten history with new bus tours

The Ukunika Bus and Walking Tours take passengers to sites around Dallas that were once hubs for the city’s Black community.

Attendees listen to a guest speaker share the history of Anderson Bonner.

From KERA News:

All around Dallas are markers telling the rich Black history that shaped the city: White Rock Chapel, the Pittman Hotel, Keller Springs Road.

But words don’t travel as fast as you think, and some stories are forgotten.

That’s why the historical organization Remembering Black Dallas created a new series of tours — funded partially through a grant from the city’s Office of Arts and Culture — highlighting these and other areas in modern-day Dallas County that were once hubs for the Black community.

“Our main focus is to draw light on the history and of the African American freedom towns, communities and those individuals that others may not know anything about,” said Deborah Hopes, the president of Remembering Black Dallas.

Hopes, a South Dallas native, named the venture the Ukunika Bus and Walking Tour after the Zulu word meaning “to give back.” The monthly tours were an idea first put forward by RBD founder George Keaton, and it was one Hopes wanted to keep alive. They both had the benefit of living through some of that history or were taught stories of a time before them.

“We have others that are from that community, or they had grandparents or relatives that lived in those communities that shared stories,” Hopes said.

She said RBD didn’t start the tours out of fear of forgetting the community’s history, but rather as a chance to relive old memories. She believes this is the first step to recognizing Black history while her peers are still around to educate others.

“History in itself doesn’t change. History in itself remains the same,” she said. “But if you don’t know it, then you are not privy to it.”

Unforgettable history

The first of the Ukunika bus tours took attendees around South Dallas, focusing on women’s history and how the civil rights movement affected the area. It highlighted American activists like Julia C. Frazier, Pearl C. Anderson and  Juanita J. Craft, whose house  — which hosted Martin Luther King. Jr and Lyndon B. Johnson — was among the stops.

“I think Dallas can be a very ahistoric place,” said Phaedra Gwyn, who grew up in the city but said she had no idea the cultural significance the neighborhood carried. “I was really happy to learn more about the civil rights movement in Dallas and Black people’s contributions.”

Another attendee, Courtney Simmons, was raised in Dallas and attended Lincoln High School. She brought her daughters on the tour so they could see how her neighborhood has changed, and how it’s preserved its culture.

“The infiltration of the city and how it just kind of [reduced] the Black community down and how it got a little disenfranchised, but there’s still efforts going on today to keep those visions alive,” Simmons said.

Others grew up in the city and had no idea of the cultural significance these neighborhoods carried.

Another tour covered the area known today as North Dallas, which was established as a Freedmen’s Town in the Reconstruction period after the Civil War.

The area associated with North Park, the Galleria and the former Valley View Mall was once home to Dallas’s oldest and most prominent Black landowners, including Anderson Bonner, Henry Keller and George Coit.

“I traveled up and down Coit Road and didn’t realize it was named after a Black person,” said RBD member Karl Lewis. “And I doubt very few people realize that.”

Passengers got a chance to meet several notable Dallas natives who have seen the city change firsthand.

Patricia Price Hicks, who is on the Dallas County Historical Commission, shared her experience growing up in Hamilton Park, an area named after prominent landowner Richard Theodore Hamilton.

“This was unheard of because there was no Black community per se,” Hicks said.

The group explored the hidden White Rock Cemetery Garden of Memories, where they were met by Glen Bonner — one of Anderson’s descendants.

“This was the first known interracial cemetery in North Dallas, North Texas area, actually,” Bonner said.

Hearing about forgotten history brought up a lot of emotions for some attendees. Sicily Whetstone is a grad student who attended the tour for a school project. She said she sees the tour as a form of reparations for Black Dallas that also educates the public.

“Those people have [been] lost in history,” she said. “So, I’m really thinking the reparations really need to go deep, starting maybe in the graveyards and the histories of those.”

She’s grateful for organizations like RBD that are dedicated to praising this history, but she said she’d like to see more support from the city of Dallas.

“This is something that we should sell as our city that this is something that we need to repair,” Whetstone said. “And it should be in our local history books in our schools.”

RBD president Deborah Hopes said that’s one of the aims of the tours.

“What I found is that they’re getting these ‘wow’ moments like, ‘wow, I didn’t know that,’” she said. “I think that is strengthening the desire to do more and want to know more and to learn more about communities in themselves.”

Embracing the past

Remembering Black Dallas required all hands on-deck to be able to execute a project as big as the Ukunika bus tours — starting with the amount of research and networking that went into organizing them.

The organization has volunteers from all over Dallas who were curious to learn more about the history of the land they live on today. They believe it brings a new perspective to what should be researched further and highlighted.

“Everybody can embrace this history because it helps you understand the place that you are calling home,” volunteer tour guide Sharron Conrad said. “By understanding the people and the stories that make up these communities.”

Some, like Larry Offut, are trying to make up for the history they were naïve to. Offut is one of several members of RBD who’s white and lived through the civil rights movement. He said the tours are bringing awareness to a past that many people ignored.

“It really was striking to me to read those things and understand that I had lived them as a child and as a young adult,” Offutt said. “…It never occurred to me there was any trauma.”

While RBD has worked to document some of the worst events in Dallas’ past by installing markers around the city memorializing lynching victims, the tours show that there’s much more to the area’s Black history than trauma.

“What I would like others to know is that we didn’t only just exist and survive,” the organization’s financial secretary Reginald Small said. “We actually thrived in our communities even with the oppression. We actually thrived, and it’s so documented.”

Remembering Black Dallas offers the Ukunika Bus and Walking Tours once a month through August. Some areas they’ll hit next are Dealey Plaza, Old City Park and Deep Ellum.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Taylor Swift’s love of numbers and numerology is rubbing off on boyfriend Travis Kelce.

The tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs attended the 87th show of the Eras tour in Paris Sunday. The concert is even more special for the NFL star because Kelce’s jersey number is 87.

Bromley FC celebrate historic promotion on bus tour

B romley FC celebrated a historic promotion to the English Football League with an open-top bus tour of the town, welcomed by crowds of fans.

Last week Bromley beat Solihull Moors 4-3 on penalties to secure promotion .

It is the first time the south-east London club has reached the Football League in its 132-year history.

The mood in town reflected the significance of the occasion, with players leaning out of the packed double-decker bus singing.

As they made the trip into the town centre, fans of all ages cheered, waved flags and pointed at their heroes.

Hordes of people also gathered in the local shopping centre, the Glades, before getting autographs and taking selfies with their favourite players.

One young fan said: "It's been brilliant. We're going up, and we're extremely happy - it's just, wow."

Player Callum Reynolds described the achievement as "the stuff dreams are made of, now I'm living it".

Club chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves said: "Let's enjoy the moment, give all ourselves a pat on the back.

"I think we're gonna have a week off or so - I've got to take the players away to somewhere hot."

Manager Andy Woodman said: "It's become an unhealthy obsession; it's really consumed everything in my life.

"But when you get all these people turn out for you like this and you know it's made a difference to their life, it's worth every minute of that energy that I've given it."

He won't be enjoying any extended team celebrations though, as he told BBC London he had to rush "back to reality" for his daughter's baby shower.

While the players can now enjoy a well-earned rest, it won't be long until all eyes are on them again when the season gets under way on 10 August.

Russian assault opens new front, diverting Ukraine forces as Western aid trickles in

Ukrainian police officers evacuated residents from the Tsyrkunivska, Lipetska and Vovchansk territorial communities following a new Russian push in the northeastern Kharkiv region. The push along with the ongoing drive into the eastern Donetsk region, comes after months when the about 1,000-kilometer (620-mile) frontline barely budged.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian troops were locked in intense battles with Ukrainian soldiers around the embattled town of Vovchansk in northeast Ukraine on Monday, pushing ahead with a ground offensive that opened a new front and put more pressure on overstretched Ukrainian forces.

Moscow’s renewed northeast offensive, launched late last week, was the most significant border incursion since the full-scale invasion began.

In just two days, Moscow has captured from 100 to 125 square kilometers (38 to 47 square miles) that include at least seven villages, most of them already depopulated, according to two open source monitoring analysts.

Vovchansk, among the largest towns in the area whose pre-war population of 17,000 had dwindled to just 2,500 before Russia renewed its ground assault last week, has emerged as a key focus of the pitched battles engulfing the Kharkiv region. By Monday, only 200 to 300 residents remained, said Kharkiv Gov. Oleh Syniehubov, as Russian forces closed in from three sides.

Poorly built fortifications and long-term ammunition shortages enabled Russia’s sweeping advance in the area since Friday, local officials and soldiers said. The Kremlin’s forces were seeking to divert and distract Ukrainian troops across the 1,000-kilometer (620-mile) front line until a big batch of new military aid for Kyiv from the U.S. and European partners arrives on the battlefield in the coming weeks and months, Ukrainian commanders and analysts said.

(AP Photo/Karl B DeBlaker, File)

That makes this period a window of opportunity for Moscow and one of the most dangerous for Kyiv in the two-year war , they said. By intensifying offensive operations, Russia seeks to stretch Ukraine’s forces thin and forge breakthroughs.

Russian forces claimed to have taken an additional 90 square kilometers (35 square miles), which has not been independently confirmed.

Opening a new front from two points along the border with the Russian region of Belgorod was the easiest tactic to pin down and divert Ukrainian forces from heavy battles raging in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Russia’s most sought-after prize.

“The enemy identified the most geographically convenient place ... the state border line,” said Yurii Federenko, commander of the ACHILLES battalion of the 92nd brigade. His unit was among others rotated into the northeast from the Donetsk region to stabilize the northeast front, he said.

He fears a similar front may be opened in the Sumy region, which also shares a border with Russia.

The string of villages captured along the contested gray zone, where enemy shelling precludes the building of fortifications, were also the easiest for Moscow’s forces to nab. Their momentum will likely slow as they approach better fortified settlements, Ukrainian commanders said.

Small batches of U.S. military aid have started to trickle into the front line in the form of much needed artillery, said Federenko, whose unit received some of the aid. But it will take at least two months before incoming supplies will meet Kyiv’s needs to hold the line, he said. Until they arrive, Ukraine won’t be able to seize the battlefield initiative, he said.

“They now have an opportunity to attack us while we cannot properly reply,” he said.

Russia’s offensive seeks to take advantage of this window of time. “In order to achieve success, in my opinion, in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the enemy needed to spread ... our defense forces. Accordingly, the enemy started the campaign in Kharkiv region specifically,” Federenko said.

Top Biden administration officials and Ukrainian national security officials held a 90-minute call on Monday to discuss the situation on the ground in Ukraine as Russia intensifies its bombardment around Kharkiv.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and Gen. CQ Brown, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff spoke with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Col. Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, and head of the office the president Andriy Yermak, according to Sullivan.

“It was a detailed conversation about the situation on the front, about the capabilities that they are most in need of, and a real triage effort to say, ’Get us this stuff this fast so that we can be in a position to effectively defend against the Russian onslaught,” Sullivan told reporters at a White House briefing.

Sullivan added that a new influx of U.S. weaponry for Kyiv was expected to be announced by the U.S. administration in the coming days.

The Kharkiv incursion has effectively pinned Ukrainian forces in the region, while potentially drawing precious reserves away from heavy battles in the Avdiivka and Chasiv Yar areas of the Donetsk region, where Russia’s advance has been far more significant and strategically important.

Ukrainian local officials said they feared Vovchansk’s fate may mirror that of Bakhmut and Avdiivka, Ukrainian cities where fierce fighting and scorched earth tactics forced Ukrainian withdrawals.

Russian forces were inching closer to Vovchansk, and heavy battles were ongoing on the town’s outskirts. Using assault infantry units Russian forces are attempting to secure positions in three directions, as Ukrainian forces attempt to dislodge them using firepower. Ukrainian commanders describe the battles as dynamic and complicated.

Russian troops have so far entrenched themselves in the villages of Strilecha, Pylna, Borysivka, Krasne, Oliynykove, Mrakovets, Pletenivka, and from there were launching attacks near Hlyboke Zelene Hatysche, and Buchansk.

The capture of the Donetsk city of Avdiivka in February opened a door for the Kremlin’s troops to push westward, deeper into Donetsk. Russia illegally annexed Donetsk and three other regions in 2022 shortly after it invaded Ukraine, and taking control of all of Donetsk is one of the Kremlin’s main war goals.

If Ukraine isn’t able to halt Moscow’s advance, it could create conditions for a possible attack on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city.

It could also create a “buffer zone” to protect Belgorod, where frequent Ukrainian attacks have embarrassed the Kremlin. In March, Russia announced plans to evacuate about 9,000 children from the Belgorod region because it was being shelled continuously.

Russian emergency services on Monday finished clearing the rubble in the region’s capital city of Belgorod, where a section of a residential building collapsed following what authorities said was Ukrainian shelling.

Fifteen bodies were pulled from the rubble, Belgorod regional Gov. Vyacheslav Gladkov said, and 27 other people were wounded.

Another three people in the city of Belgorod were killed by shelling late Sunday, he said.

Yevgeny Poddubny, a usually well-connected military correspondent for Russia’s state TV corporation VGTRK, said in a recent Telegram post that the Kharkiv assault marked the beginning of “a new phase.”

“We’re pushing the enemy back from the border, destroying the enemy in order to deprive the Kyiv regime of the opportunity to use relatively cheap rockets to attack Belgorod,” he said.

Juli in Rosenheim).

März) in neun weitere große deutsche Musikarenen bringen (24.3. Mannheim, 25.3. Stuttgart, 26.3. Oberhausen, 28.3. Hamburg, 29.3. Berlin, 1.4. Hannover, 2.4. Leipzig, 3.4. Köln, 6.4. Frankfurt).
