14.11.2018 – Dortmund, Westfalenhalle ( Tickets ) 24.11.2018 – Freiburg, SICK Arena ( Tickets ) 26.11.2018 – Hamburg, Barclaycard Arena ( Tickets ) 29.11.2018 – München, Olympiahalle ( Tickets ) 30.11.2018 – Erfurt, Messehalle ( Tickets ) 02.12.2018 – Berlin, Mercedes-Benz-Arena ( Tickets )

It's Official: SLAYER Reunites, Announces First Shows In Five Years

SLAYER has officially reunited and will return to the live stage in September.

For the first time since the band wrapped the last concert of its world tour back in November 2019, SLAYER — Tom Araya (bass, vocals), Kerry King (guitar), Gary Holt (guitar) and Paul Bostaph (drums) — will return to the stage this fall, headlining two major festivals, Riot Fest and Louder Than Life .

"Nothing compares to the 90 minutes when we're on stage playing live, sharing that intense energy with our fans," Araya said, "and to be honest, we have missed that." King added: "Have I missed playing live? Absolutely. SLAYER means a lot to our fans; they mean a lot to us. It will be five years since we have seen them."

So far the following dates have been announced:

Sep. 22 - Riot Fest - Chicago, IL Sep. 27 - Louder Than Life - Louisville, KY

"We're thrilled to announce that SLAYER will be reuniting for an earth-shattering performance at Louder Than Life ," says Danny Wimmer of Danny Wimmer Presents . "I was at their last show at The Forum in 2019 and have been working since then to bring them back to the Louder stage! With over 140 bands on five stages, we're celebrating our 10th Louder Than Life with the biggest lineup yet!"

Earlier this month, Kerry said that he had not been in contact with Tom since SLAYER played its final show more than four years ago.

The 59-year-old guitarist discussed his band's decision to call it quits while speaking to Rolling Stone about his new solo project.

Asked how he found out SLAYER 's bassist/vocalist wanted to retire, Kerry said: "We were on tour and some kid was interviewing him, and he said something about, 'I've got to get together with Kerry and talk before we talk about the next record.' He should have just said, 'I'm probably not going to do another record,' or had that conversation with me before he mentioned anything like that. I was just assuming, 'Oh fuck, what's this going to be?' And it was, 'I'm done.' Not what I expected. But if you made that decision, I'm not going to try to talk you out of it because your heart's not going to be in it anyway."

Regarding why Araya had decided to retire, King said: "I think just the wear and tear of the road. I think he wanted to be home. None of us are real spotlight seekers, but he's certainly not. And when [late SLAYER guitarist] Jeff [ Hanneman ] was around, he was like a hermit. He did not want fame. I tolerate fame. Somebody's got to be that guy."

Kerry also confirmed that personality differences contributed to SLAYER 's eventual split.

"Me and Tom have never been on the same page," he said. "Like if I want a chocolate shake, he wants a vanilla shake. ' Kerry , what color is the sky?' Blue. ' Tom , what color is the sky?' White. We're just different people. The further on in years we got, it just became more.

"Am I going to hang out with Tom ? He likes tequila a little bit and I'm a big tequila-head, so I'll have my shot with him, and we'll part ways. We're not going to hang out or anything because we are very different people. And together, we made great music and a great live show."

Asked if he has talked to Tom at all since the last SLAYER show," Kerry said: "Not even a text. Not even an e-mail. I've talked to everybody else from the band on the phone, text, or e-mail. If Tom hit me up, I'd probably respond. It probably depends on what he hit me up for, but I don't wish him dead at this moment."

Pressed about whether he and Tom could make another SLAYER album, Kerry said: "I can pretty much a hundred percent say no because I have a new outlet, and it's not SLAYER , but it sounds like SLAYER . I'm making the music I like to make still, so I don't need to do that. Records don't sell anymore anyway. It's just a means to have a product out so people know what I'm playing when I come to town."

As for the possibility of SLAYER touring again, Kerry said: "I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen. Could SLAYER play a show again? I'm sure there's a scenario. Am I looking for it? No, I'm just getting ready to start my career. So if that happens, it happens. But I'm going to be doing this [solo band] for the next 10 years at least."

SLAYER played the final show of its farewell tour in November 2019 at the Forum in Los Angeles. One day later, Kerry 's wife Ayesha said that there is "not a chance in hell" that the thrash metal icons will reunite for more live appearances.

SLAYER 's final world tour began on May 10, 2018 with the band's intention to play as many places as possible, to make it easy for the fans to see one last SLAYER show and say goodbye. By the time the 18-month trek wrapped at the Forum, the band had completed seven tour legs plus a series of one-off major summer festivals, performing more than 140 shows in 30 countries and 40 U.S. states.

Araya talked about his possible retirement in a 2016 interview with Loudwire . He said: "At 35 years, it's time to collect my pension. [ Laughs ] This is a career move." He continued: "I'm grateful that we've been around for 35 years; that's a really long time. So, yeah, to me, it is. Because when we started off, everything was great, because you're young and invincible. And then there came a time where I became a family man, and I had a tough time flying back and forth. And now, at this stage, at the level we're at now, I can do that; I can fly home when I want to, on days off, and spend some time with my family, which is something I wasn't able to do when [my kids] were growing up. Now they're both older and mature. So now I take advantage of that." Araya added: "Yeah, it just gets harder and harder to come back out on the road. 35 years is a long time."

Tom also revealed another reason for his diminished enjoyment of the touring life. He said: "There's things that have gone on in my life that have made me change how I play as a bass player. I had neck surgery, so I can't headbang anymore. And that was a big part of what I enjoyed doing what I do — singing and headbanging. I liked knowing that I was one of the fucking badass headbangers. That played a big part. Now I just groove with the music, which is cool, because I'm grooving with the music and the feel of the songs, so that's changed a little for me."

It gets you when you least expect it. 9.22.24 - Riot Fest - Chicago, IL 9.27.24 - Louder Than Life - Louisville, KY http://www.slayer.net Posted by Slayer on Wednesday, February 21, 2024

slayer tour 2023 deutschland

Louder Than Life is set to rock the Highland Festival Grounds At Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY, from September 26 to 29, featuring an electrifying lineup headlined by Slayer and an array of other powerhouse bands including Mötley Crüe, Slipknot, and Korn. While the surprise reunion of Slayer might not be on the cards, the festival promises a stellar showcase of heavy hitters that will undoubtedly thrill metal enthusiasts.

The timing of Slayer’s potential reunion raises eyebrows, particularly in light of Kerry King’s recent announcement of his long-awaited solo album. King’s solo venture seemed to offer him a platform for live performances, a void he lamented following Slayer’s disbandment. Now, with the possibility of Slayer resurfacing, fans are left to ponder the intricacies of the band’s decision-making process.

The ambiguity surrounding Slayer’s status adds to the intrigue. While it remains uncertain whether their appearance at Louder Than Life signifies a true reunion or merely select festival appearances, the prospect of witnessing the legendary metal act back on stage is undeniably tantalizing. Rick Sales, the band’s manager, hinted at this ambiguity in a 2019 interview, suggesting that while touring may have ceased, the band’s essence endures beyond the stage.

As of now, the lineup for Slayer 2024 remains shrouded in mystery. Nevertheless, the full roster for Louder Than Life promises an exhilarating festival experience, leaving metal fans eagerly anticipating an unforgettable weekend of headbanging and heavy riffs.

“We’re thrilled to announce that  Slayer  will be reuniting for an earth-shattering performance at Louder Than Life,” said  Danny Wimmer  of Danny Wimmer Presents. “I was at their last show at The Forum in 2019 and have been working since then to bring them back to the Louder stage! With over 140 bands on five stages, we’re celebrating our 10 th  Louder Than Life with the biggest lineup yet! P.S., come out and celebrate with us at TAJ this Saturday and we’ll buy your first drink.”

“On the heels of an incredible lineup announcement for Bourbon & Beyond, Louder Than Life solidifies why the Kentucky Exposition Center is the number one place to travel to in September,” added  David S. Beck , President and CEO of Kentucky Venues. “We anticipate festival-goers from around the world to come for the music and fall in love with all the things that make Kentucky such a great state.”

Making up one quarter of Thrash Metal’s big four, alongside other huge names like Metallica, Megadeath and Slayer, Anthrax are a sonic force to be reckoned with.

Formed in New York in the early 80’s, the band picked a name that they deemed ‘sufficiently evil’ sounding and immediately began to draw notoriety from its rowdy live performances.

After signing with heavy metal powerhouse Megaforce Records, things were looking good for the band however they struggled to a find a line-up that worked. With a debut album in the bag they eventually settled with Joey Belladonna as the frontman.

They began to release albums like ‘Spreading The Disease’ and ‘Among the Living’ which is widely considered the band’s breakthrough record and is often cited as a fan favorite. During this time they toured with big names such as Living Color and Metallica and were on the tour that saw the untimely demise of Metalica’s much beloved bassist Cliff Burton.

In the early 90’s the band embarked on an unlikely partnership that turned out to be one of their best moves. After collaborating successfully with Rap group Public Enemy on their track ‘Bring The Noise’, the group embarked on a US tour with the group and the meeting of Thrash and Hip Hop turned out be a successful pairing.

The band has continued to tour and release albums under a variety of line ups and have come to be respected and worshiped amongst metal fans. In 2010 the band headlined the UK’s Sonisphere Festival as part of the big four event and the reaction from hundreds of thousands of people was the ultimate sign of respect.

Live reviews

Anthrax has made quite a comeback in these last couple of years. In 2010 they re-enlisted lead singer, Joey Belladonna, who contributed vocals on Anthrax’s breakthrough album, Among the Living, and in 2011 they released their first album in eight years entitled, Worship Music, which shows the band revisiting their intense thrash metal style that made them so renowned. Regardless to say, Anthrax is back on top of their game and their live performance is their greatest testament to their adept skills in captivating the audience with their high speed thrash metal.

Guitarist, Scott Ian, is a driving force behind the band prowling up and down the stage and jumping all over the place, all while playing face melting guitar riffs in the heaviest tones. Lead singer, Joey Belladonna is also quite captivating belting out his lyrics while rocking back and forth, signaling the rock salute. He is also known for performing stage antics, which was displayed when I saw them play a show at the Gwinnett Arena and he came out on stage in an Indian head-dress to play the song “Indians”.

The stage set-up is similar to what you might expect at a metal show. Amps are piled on stage with loud distorted thrash metal blaring out of them, a massive drum-kit containing two bass drums is elevated on a large platform, which the drummer ferociously pounds away at, and massive displays of metal art are plastered behind the band. The audiences are usually quite rowdy, as would be expected. They fiercely head-bang, yell out all the lyrics to the songs word for word, and start up mosh pits. When at an Anthrax concert you can most likely expect to get caught in a mosh pit all while listening to the band perform the song, “Caught in a Mosh”, but you can also expect to see one face-melting performance that is ensured to rock your socks off.

Amazing show of an amazing band.

They still have the energy, the speed, and the attitude that they used to have back in the 80s.

They know what to do, and how to do it. And they simply go on the stage, play loud, hard, and you just feel it right in the guts. If I need to compare the energy that I felt during the whole concert, I can just think about Motörhead right now.

Connection with the audience was amazing since the very first song, Belladona and Ian are part of the history of trash metal, and they showed to all of us why, what a couple of frontmans! I don't have words for the work of Charly Benante on the drums, one of the best drummers ever. And the attitude and sound that Frank Bello put on stage just made the whole experience so fantastic. Up to the point that it will be one of the shows that I will always remember. Anthrax made us all jump and scream without a single break, without having the chance to even get some air between the songs. They knew what we wanted, and they delivered in such a perfect way.

Setlist was also a 10 out of 10. Show started with Among the Living, Caught in a Mosh, Madhouse and Fight'em 'til you can... Those songs really kicked everyone up, and from there to the end of the concert it was an amazing experience to live. Just being there, mouth wide open, signing with them, jumping and screaming, like we did 20 years ago, when we were young, and Anthrax were the kings of trash metal. Long live the kings!

Northumbria Student Union is a very compact venue for an act such as Anthrax. Near sell out crammed into a small space ended up being the perfect venue. Support act Raven Age warmed the crowd up nicely. Main event, metal legends Anthrax started the show with a compilation of their songs, both new and old. Songs from new (epic) album For All Kings sit nicely with their early stuff. Short interval was followed by celebrating 30 years since Among The Living was released, playing the album in full. They finished off with the classic Antisocial. During their 2 epic sets, the crowd were lapping up every second. Even the incredibly high temperature inside the student union bar didn't dampen the energy of the crowd. Mosh pits, crowd surfing, pogo-ing and fist pumping throughout and afterwards myself and nearly everyone around was dripping in sweat and smiling from ear to ear. Anthrax's first headlining tour for 10 years may end up being one of their best. Each band member had the energy and enthusiasm of a teenager and vocalist Joey Belladonna was on top form, interacting with the crowd, his voice as brilliant as ever. This gig was of truly epic proportions and will live long in the memory.

I started listening to Anthrax in high school. I would blast In My World on a daily basis. The song was so good they used it to promote Persistent of Time on Married with children, my dad's favorite sitcom.

As I moved through highschool I DEVOURED everything from them I could get my hands on. I remember spinning up Catharsis for my dad. He thought it was a great song. Then I played Panic (from Go2E) and he was blown away.

I never would have made it through highschool without Anthrax.

When I got to see them live for the first time with High on Fire, I felt complete. I had always wanted to see my 2 all time favorite metal bands (and then it became 3 with Mahine Head in college). They played the entirety of Among the Living and it was perfect. And for a cherry on top, Kirk Hammet came out to cover TNT with them. Fuckin amazing.

In my world it's cold. My defense is like stone. No one gets inside, cuz in my world I'm home. But as long as I've got music, I'm NEVER alone!

Darrell can NEVER die because DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER!

Once again performing as what fans would consider to be the classic lineup, Anthrax are back at maximum potential when in a live environment. You do not enter into an Anthrax concert lightly, it is not a show that you can simply watch and observe as both the devoted fan base and the band themselves require unanimous crowd participation.

Therefore from the opening screeching bars of 'I Am the Law' the whole audience raise its arms as a collective and prepare to rock out for the duration. The set is performed at a rapid pace and hand picked from a variety of the band's 10 studio albums. There are roars of appreciation for 'Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't' and cover of Joe Jackson's 'Got the Time'.

There are equal levels of enthusiasm and moshing as the band respectively demonstrate their musicianship through huge instrumentals as the crowd claps them on. Wrapping up with a double hit of early singles 'Indians' and 'Antisocial', the band look more comfortable than ever onstage with their original lineup back together.

Dissatisfied with this app!! My option to purchase tickets for Anthrax was this site. What a joke. I was not able to purchase tickets or view available tickets. The app keep showing message, when ticket come available, I would be notified. I missed the concert, I never was notified if tickets ever went on sale. I attempt to purchase ticket but, site kepted rerouting back to this app.

Anthrax ticket agents should test their chosen app and make sure their fans are not left out. App frustrating to use, app didn’t go anywhere. I was taken to other site to purchase another app that I can view live concert and had to pay for free service. What a joke!!!

Anthrax is one of my fav bands from all the time. I recently moved to US, and never had the change to be in one of their concerts before.

So as soon as I saw the announcement I made up some saving (still getting used to local rent, and taxes and everything), so I bought my ticket.

The venue was awesome and the concert was even better. I'll definitely go to another concert if they go back to Austin. Dreams come true for those who work their asses off and never give up. I can prove that now.

The show was awesome!! The crowd went crazy and Anthrax of course totally killed the night! I even got a played drumstick and my friend got s pick from scott ian. What else do you wish for at a concert?!

I also really enjoy using songkick. The only thing that sometines sucks is that not every show from a band is listed so you sometimes have to double check. And I really loved it when I got a reminder with your concert for anthrax is happening soon. That was really cute and totally made my day

Concert was Cancelled due to venue not being up to snuff for bands equipment. For safety reasons show was cancelled that afternoon. Luckily it was not due to an illness or injury. However, the show could have worked if only the necessities were out on stage. Flashy lights, flags and stacks of amps (most of which are not plugged in and only for show (did you guys know that about concerts?)) are not needed for a good metal show.

the meeting went well, but they didn’t give me a patch, they said it was over, I was upset, it was the same with Mashinehead, they didn’t bring the car’s flag with them, they said they would send it out, but they didn’t send it to me, though I was left by the coordinator, so that I would send him my home address to him, this is not pleasant, but the meeting with Anthrax itself was great, they are very good people !!!
