When Sarah Silverman isn’t behind the desk guest-hosting “The Daily Show” or onscreen in Bradley Cooper’s upcoming Leonard Bernstein biopic “Maestro,” you’ll most likely be able to catch her onstage in early 2023.
From Jan. 27 through March 22, the “Saturday Night Live” alum is hitting comedy clubs, concert halls, casinos, theaters and auditoriums all over North America as part of her 20-show “Grow Some Lips Tour.”
The run of shows includes headlining gigs at Atlantic City’s Ovation Hall on Feb. 4, Huntington’s Paramount Theatre on Feb. 5 and New York City’s Beacon Theatre on March 16.
She put it simply on Twitter, saying, “Oh s— I’m coming for ya.”
And it won’t cost an arm and a leg or even some lips when the “Grow Some Lips Tour” comes to a city “near ya.”
In fact, we found tickets for select shows for on the run for as low as $49 before fees on Vivid Seats.
Want to see Silverman when she comes for ya with her new material?
Well, here’s everything you need to about the “Grow Some Lips Tour.”
Sarah Silverman tour dates
A complete calendar featuring all upcoming tour dates, venues and the cheapest tickets available for each show can be found below.
(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)
Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.
Sarah Silverman upcoming projects
Most would argue that a 20-show tour headlining at major venues across North America is a pretty good year in and of itself for a headlining comedian.
Not Silverman though.
Here’s everything the “Wreck It Ralph” and “Sarah Silverman Program” star has lined up and ready to go in 2023 in addition to the “Grow Some Lips Tour.”
The Sarah Silverman Podcast where she talks about all things “big and small.” Most episodes are just Silverman talking to herself which is great for super-fans of the comic.
“The Daily Show” will be hosted by a rotating cast of comics until the comedic series finds a permanent replacement for Trevor Noah. In addition to Silverman, just a few of the big names who will also sit behind the desk include Leslie Jones, Hasan Minhaj, Chelsea Handler, Wanda Sykes and Marlon Wayans.
“Maestro” is set to star alongside Bradley Cooper in this much buzzed about upcoming Leonard Bernstein biopic. The film will reportedly tell the story of Bernstein’s relationship with his wife Felicia Montealgre (played by Carey Mulligan).
“Stupid Pet Tricks,” based on the popular segment from David Letterman’s talk show, is being revived with Silverman at the helm. About the show, Silverman said, “The rule in show business is, ‘never work with animals or children’ but I choose to work with David Letterman anyway.”
“Viral” won’t be your typical Silverman comedy. No, this indie thriller is about a man named Andrew (Blair Underwood) whose wife goes missing. SIlverman plays Andrew’s girlfriend Emilia who is also a victims advocate and self-help blogger dealing with her own demons from the past. Alfre Woodard co-stars.
Silverman will also continue her long-running stint as Ollie Pesto in Fox’s acclaimed animated series “Bob’s Burgers.”
Comedians on tour in 2023
If Silverman isn’t hitting your hometown this year, we just wanted to let you know it’s not the end of the world.
That’s because many of the biggest names in comedy are conducting massive, nationwide tours all year long.
Here are just five of our favorites you won’t want to miss if they come to a city near you.
• Jerry Seinfeld
• Katt Williams
• Adam Sandler
• Trevor Noah
• Taylor Tomlinson

Q&A: Sarah Silverman on her new comedy tour, upcoming special
The funniest jokes in Sarah Silverman’s current stand-up show are almost certainly not printable in a family newspaper.
As for the name of her tour?
“I mean, I think it is,” says one of the busiest women in comedy, who this winter alone has juggled — among other things — a run of guest-hosting stints on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show”; her popular weekly “The Sarah Silverman Podcast”; and her first roadshow in six years, titled “Grow Some Lips.”
“’Cause it’s interpretative, you know? It’s, like, whatever it means to you. Lips. They’re on our face. And other places,” she continues, clearing her throat. “They’re on our face, et al.”
In a recent phone interview with The Charlotte Observer, the 52-year-old comedian-actress-writer-producer talked about her new tour and the special it will yield. The conversation has been abbreviated, and edited for clarity.
Q. Do you agonize over the name of a tour, or is it just you’re trying to come up with something clever, and when you think of something clever, you go with it?
A: Yeah. I didn’t have a name for it, and I thought this would be funny, and it’s kind of in the show; it’s about words and language and stuff. I don’t know that it will be the name of the special, once I shoot it. But yeah, it’s just a fun tour name. I’m trying not to be too precious about anything.
Q. Well, so you’ve done a dozen dates already on the tour so far. How’s it been going?
A: I’m in my groove, although I’m in the middle of a week off between shows. So I’m like, ‘Oh. Gotta get back into it soon.’ But yeah, it’s been really fun. ...
I shoot the special the last two days of March in Boston (at The Wilbur Theatre), ’cause that’s about as close to my hometown (Manchester, New Hampshire, about 50 miles north) as I’ll probably get, in terms of a big theater. Between now and then I need all the practice I can get. Because this is the first time that I’ve done that kind of riskier version of like: All right, I gotta figure it out on the road. It’s new. So, it’s been exciting. I had to develop it at, like, the gate at Southwest, or on planes, or in cars, and not in my own time as much. And that pressure has been really cool. It’s been more seat-of-my-pants-ish.
I mean, it’s definitely a solid show. I’m almost ready to shoot. But I never feel totally ready. I always want to keep honing it, forever. But you can’t. So at some point I shoot it, and then I have to be done with it.
Q. Is there an extra level of anxiety for you when you’re shooting a special?
A: I mean, when you’re finally shooting, it’s so important to get in the right head space, because you want it to be more excitement than anxiety. Anxiety is just telling yourself horror stories of what the future may hold, and how things may go bad. That’s not really helpful when you’re in the moment.
And shooting a special is interesting. You know how on “Breaking Bad” he calls himself Heisenberg? Well, that’s a principle. Heisenberg principle. I’m such a nerd. The Heisenberg principle basically says that you can’t capture what something is when it’s not being observed, because just by being the observer you change the thing. I always think about that when I’m shooting a special. You want it to be exactly how it would be when you’re just doing it live. Because you are just doing it live. But just the fact that cameras are there changes some kind of chemistry in me; I can only attempt to try to shed that awareness, and really just be in the moment with the audience, and let the cameras capture that. But the fact that they’re there will always kind of be in the back of your head.
Q. I wanted to ask you about aging, which is something you’ve mused on and poked fun at throughout your career. You’ve now had a couple years to get used to being in your 50s. Do you spend much time thinking about your age?
A: I mean, on and off, but I really haven’t been hung up on it. Maybe if I was less busy I’d have more time to. The times where I slip into a downward spiral about that stuff are when I have free time. And I do like just sitting and thinking, so it’s not like I just want to keep myself busy to not really think about the big things. But I really would rather spend that time figuring out ways to love it. Because it is what it is. You can’t go, “Oh, I hate aging,” and then be able to do something about it. You can shoot (expletive) into your face or whatever, but it doesn’t mean you’re not 52.
Also, no matter how much you hate your age, you’re the youngest you are ever going to be again, so you better (expletive) love it. I mean, my brain works, my body works, I’m the smartest I’ve ever been, I’m the wisest I’ve ever been. My boyfriend thinks I’m hot naked. I just want to keep it that way as long as possible. And appreciate it as long as possible.
I don’t have the same powers I had. My powers have shifted. The power I had as a hot 20-something — you know, it was a real power. But it’s, like, a dumb power. And as that shifts, you have no choice but to find out how to get really into these other kinds of strengths that you get with age. If you just think of the physical, you’re really cutting yourself short.
But it is terrifying, and I think as a woman it’s extra-terrifying. It can, if you allow it to, be like a really slow-moving horror movie.
Q. So then, I don’t know, would you say 10 or 15 years ago you were worried about how you’d fit into the industry in your 50s, and that now that you’ve gotten here, you’re like, “I shouldn’t have been so worried”?
A: Listen, I worry and have anxiety, but for some reason — and I really think this is a gift — I never think about the future. I only think about way in the future, honestly. I just save my money so that I can afford to be elderly and have a nurse at home. But in terms of my career, I never think, "Where will I be in five years? Where will I be in 10 years?" Even when I was young, I never thought about it.
I will say, I don’t think I ever thought I’d be this busy now. I remember Joan Rivers, her saying she didn’t really find herself in stand-up until her 70s. And I love that. That just gives me this tent pole to look forward to; to be able to feel like I’m not even close to hitting my stride; to always still be aspiring and changing and wanting to always do stand-up.
By the way, this interview — I’m sorry, I’m not being very funny at all. But the show is funny.

Silverman to headline Wynn Las Vegas for first time
Sarah Silverman has visions of the ideal comedy club, but for now she’s fine with the Encore Theater.
We run into Sarah Silverman randomly, every few years in Las Vegas. There was the night she was roaming the ballroom promenade at Caesars Palace during the short-lived Comedy Festival in 2007. She was with Jimmy Kimmel (her boyfriend at the time) and Jeff Ross, heading to a midnight performance.
We caught her at The Pearl at the Palms a few years ago, when she found herself in a protracted discussion with an audience member near the front of the stage. “Don’t make me do what you know I can do,” the comic warned, but she never did have the individual tossed.
Silverman was also an unbilled guest comic at the opening of Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club at The Linq Promenade in June 2019, supporting the launch of his new venue. Sadly, for comedy fans, the club has not reopened since the COVID-19 shutdown.
But Silverman is back, appearing at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas in “Sarah Silverman and Friends” on Sept. 4. The comic and actor hosts the mirthsome “Sarah Silverman Podcast,” among her many TV and film credits.
John Katsilometes: It seems we bump into each other a lot in Vegas. One night I saw you at Lucky’s 24/7 Cafe at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Sarah Silverman: I love that place, for some reason, maybe it’s because I have the palate of a 10-year-old …
It’s closed now, though. The hotel is now Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
Oh! I am out of the loop on my Vegas news!
Anyway, I walked over and said, “You’re Sarah Silverman, right? I’m a journalist here and I’ve interviewed you.” And you said, “I get that all the time! I wish! She’s soooo gorgeous!”
Ha ha! Yes! That is my fallback in those situations.
My date says to me, “I thought you knew her? ”
Oh, please tell me that’s not where it ended.
We figured it out. It was very funny. People were watching from other tables. We were both there to see Dice Clay that night.
So funny. That was a fun night.
Coming in to the Encore Theater, and having headlined here over the years, are you developing any Vegas-specific material?
Um, no. That would be smart, though, right? (Laughs.) I never think to do that. If something Vegas-y happens, to reflect what I’m doing at the time, I would refer to it. But Vegas is so different from any other place you can play, because it’s always awake. It’s always happening. The sun never seems to go down, you know? I work my act and don’t consciously do anything different. Just by being there, with an audience from everywhere, it is different.
The last time I saw you do a full set was at the Palms, and you did a lot of crowd work. More than I had anticipated.
I wish I could go back and look at that, because I love crowd work, but I’m terrible at crowd work. I end up having a million questions about the people I’m looking at, because I am so interested in people. I wish I was better at crowd work.
Who is good at crowd work?
Like, a Tig Notaro, or a Todd Barry. They are great. I stink at it. I really want to work at it.
This is the first time you’ve played the Encore Theater, where several top stand-ups have headlined. I’ve seen Sebastian Maniscalco there, Jim Gaffigan. You’ve said before you prefer clubs. What are your thoughts about a proper theater?
I just want a really good room where the focus is on the stage, there is good sound. You know, if there’s a stool, a glass of water, I’m happy. But when I’m on the road, I’ll maybe do music to bookend the experience — music when people are being seated and when they are leaving. The ambience is important. I like going to sound check, even though there isn’t much for a comic to do during sound check. But I can get a feel for the room that way.
Jimmy has lent his name to a club in Vegas, and Brad Garrett operates his venue at the MGM Grand. Would you ever do something like that, manage a comedy club here?
I don’t know. It’s never occurred to me. But I do love the idea of a stand-up comedian having a club, because only comics know what comics need. It’s so funny how many clubs open with no consultation to comedians. In a club, you want a low ceiling, a shallower audience that gets kind of wide and not too deep. The stage isn’t too high, just higher than the audience. The sound has to be impeccable. Those are the big wants and needs.
Two-drink minimum, with the cover?
The Comedy Cellar in New York has a three-drink maximum — a maximum! It’s so unheard of because drinks are a comedy club’s bread and butter in so many ways. But a maximum is deferential to the comedians, because having a wasted crowd sucks. It sucks for the comic, and it sucks for the audience.
So at Club Silverman, we’d have a two-drink minimum but three-drink maximum? Thread that needle?
Yeah! I love that. It just moved me so much when the Comedy Cellar put up the maximum. It’s like, finally, someone is showing respect to the comedians. This isn’t a bar. It’s a show.

Sarah Silverman’s Comedy Is Changing with the Times
By Carrie Battan
“You know who has a tiny vagina?” Sarah Silverman asked, out of the blue, in her 2005 comedy special, “Jesus Is Magic.” “Barbie,” she said. “Not Klaus Barbie, the infamous Nazi.” At the time, Silverman was building a national reputation as a comedian who shirked no opportunity to make audiences uncomfortable with her cheerfully offensive Valley Girl persona. She noted that the best time to have a baby is “when you’re a black teen-ager,” and noted that she was “raped by a doctor, which is so bittersweet for a Jewish girl.” A few years prior, she’d been in a public spat with a Japanese-American civil-rights activist named Guy Aoki, who took her to task for using the word “chink” in one of her jokes. She addressed the controversy in “Jesus Is Magic”: “There are only two Asian people I have a problem with,” she said. “One is, uh, Guy Aoki. The other is my friend Steve, who actually went pee-pee in my Coke. He’s all, ‘Me Chinese, me play joke!’ ” Speaking to Dana Goodyear for a 2005 Profile in the magazine , Silverman said, “I tend to say the opposite of what I think.”
In her new standup special, “A Speck of Dust,” which premièred on Netflix on Tuesday, Silverman revisits Barbie, performing an extended riff on the impossible proportions of the dolls’ bodies. “We give our daughters Barbie dolls so that they have an image of what they should look like when they grow up that is not attainable—so that they can learn that they’re a piece of shit and that they should kill themselves,” she says. “It’s so important. We have to teach them young.” She points out that Barbie’s feet are so small and arched that she can’t wear flat shoes. “When she’s taking a shit at three in the morning, she’s wearing heels,” Silverman explains. Of Barbie’s nipple-less breasts: “We have to protect our daughters from the life-nourishing nipple. No nipples,” she says. “We can’t have our daughters seeing what nourishes life. Just the part that can sandwich a hard cock.”
This may sound a lot like the old Silverman—raunchy, deadpan, obliviously in bad taste—but “A Speck of Dust” also represents a strange form of comedic maturation. Silverman has not backed away from the gross-out comedy that became her trademark; if anything, she’s leaning harder into it. But, whereas she used to deploy vulgarity as pure provocation, these days she uses it in service of a sharp moralism. Much of “A Speck of Dust” continues in the same vein as the Barbie riff, with explicit imagery and anecdotes designed to expose the absurdity of American gender politics. Silverman fixates on abortion for a long stretch, and brings up a fact that she’s recently learned: spermatozoa have a sense of smell. “Sperm is life,” she says. By this logic, she argues, men in the process of masturbation, like women in some states seeking an abortion, should be legally required to visit a clinic, where they’ll have a long camera tube inserted into their penises. At this point, they’ll be shown imagery of their sperm, their “life,” before going ahead with their decision to ejaculate. This is tastelessness as moral righteousness, provocation as lecture—which sounds like it should be a drag, but in Silverman’s hands it somehow isn’t.
“A Speck of Dust” is only the third hour-long special that Silverman has released in her career; the last was 2013’s “We Are Miracles.” And yet the new show doesn’t exactly feel like a comeback—for one, it’s completely devoid of the fanfare that might surround the return of another comic of her stature. There are no cinematographic tricks or stylistic experiments happening here. While many comics have recruited big-name directors to make their specials, or have tried out fussy, left-field opening scenes, “A Speck of Dust” begins with a simple “Girls and boys, please welcome to the stage Sarah Silverman.” Silverman avoids building her special around recent events in her own life. In 2015, she lost her mother, and last year she had a brush with death when, during a tour, she was diagnosed with a dangerous throat condition called epiglottitis, which resulted in emergency surgery. The latter incident gets only a quiet mention, fifty-three minutes into the special. “I almost died this summer,” she says, matter-of-factly. Before surgery, when talking to the medical staff, she continues, “I proved to them that I wasn’t high enough by explaining Brexit.”
Unlike most comics with her level of national recognition, Silverman hasn’t become a box-office or TV-ratings juggernaut. She also hasn’t slipped into obscurity. Instead, she’s diligently worked away at an array of understated projects. She developed her own TV show, “The Sarah Silverman Project,” which was quietly admired but never fully celebrated. She dabbled in indie movies, playing a suburban mother paralyzed by depression and anxiety, in the 2015 film “I Smile Back.” She maintains a lively Twitter account and has thrown herself into political activism, launching an initiative to urge the U.N. summit to focus on women, campaigning for Bernie Sanders, and then working to bring Sanders supporters out for Hillary Clinton, once Clinton had clinched the Democratic nomination. (At the D.N.C., she told a crowd chanting Sanders’s name, “Can I just say, to the Bernie or Bust people: You’re being ridiculous.”)
It’s commonplace for comics—and comedy fans—to maintain that the stage is a place exempt from the rules of decorum and political correctness that govern other facets of life. When called out for insensitivity, they double down on their provocations, decrying P.C. culture as the bane of creative expression. Silverman these days seems to be interested in listening. In 2015, a Vanity Fair reporter asked her what she thought about the wave of “P.C. culture” that had ignited controversy on college campuses. Jerry Seinfeld had recently said that he avoided college campuses for this reason. Silverman, on the other hand, said that she felt she had something to learn from these college students. “I do think it’s important, as a human, to change with the times,” she said. In “Speck of Dust,” she describes seeing a young girl carrying an “Abortion Is Bloody Murder” sign at a protest in Texas, and approaching her with an empathetic frame of mind. “These people were raised by people who loved them who said, ‘There are people out there that want to murder babies!’ ” Silverman says. “And if I was that kid I’d be, like, ‘We’d have to stop them!’ ” Describing her encounter with the girl, she continues, “She goes, ‘God hates you!’ And I was like, ‘Do you really think God hates?’ And she goes, ‘Yeah, he hates YOU!’ And then I told her a doody joke.” Silverman pauses to mimic the young pro-lifer trying not to laugh. “It really is the great unifier.”
