Rugged Luxury: Meet the Black Series HQ19 Travel Trailer

Black Series’ HQ19 Overview

The HQ19 is the only tow-behind I’ve tested that can handle off-road driving. More on that to come.

The camper was decadently comfortable, with a dry bath, queen-size bed, and loads of storage. Additionally, extras like an oven, washing machine, and a fridge and freezer are bigger than what you’ll find in some apartments.

The outside storage was immense. And the camper had a stainless-steel outdoor kitchen. Hot water on demand in a full-size stall shower made bathing a delight.

A roomy dinette can comfortably seat four, and oversized windows make the inside space feel light and airy. A robust solar system and battery bank powers lights, the microwave, and plugs. And all are managed by a high-quality inverter.

If the devil is in the details, that’s where this camper scored fewer points. Edges on the outdoor kitchen were sharp enough to cut fingers. There’s not a USB plug inside. And systems that should run off solar/batteries — like the fridge — are propane or plug-in only.

Black Series HQ19 Review

What impressed me most about the HQ19 is how well it towed, and how well it handled off-road conditions. In other campers — doing the cross-country drive to get to the mountains and deserts of Colorado and Utah from Vermont — I’ve had to fight not to be blown all over the highway in crosswinds.

The Black Series didn’t wiggle around like other tow-behinds. Despite its 10-foot height and 26-foot length, it cruised with stability and tracked straight.

When I towed it along the edge of a canyon on a single-lane road used primarily by ORVs, and then skirted through junipers to nest it into a secluded camp spot in Colorado, it was as nimble as I could hope for any 26-foot trailer to be.

Backing up, I could pivot the trailer as needed to worm my way through obstacles. And parking was less of a project than I anticipated.

There are two keys to the camper’s superb handling. The first is its independent suspension. Black Series custom-designed and engineered trailing arms that allow each wheel to move independently. This made towing this rig on the highway, on dirt roads, and off-road a joy.

The suspension spreads the load across four shocks instead of two. This is safer for everyone involved, and Black Series says it results in longer shock life.

The second is the polyblock hitch . The 360-degree articulation hitch allows for more angulation of the trailer behind the truck, as well as 70 degrees of up and down rotation. This makes it easier to back up the trailer. And it prevents the trailer from feeling like it’s fighting the truck for traction on bumpy terrain.

The Black Series has a special-ops aesthetic. People stopped me nearly every time I refueled to ask if it was a military or search-and-rescue vehicle and if they might peek inside.

The rugged exterior has a diamond plate lower with corner bash bars done in black, white, and red. It’s an eye-catching rig that’s different-looking from every other travel trailer I’ve seen on the road.

Two full-size spare tires mounted on the tail were eye-catching. Thankfully, I didn’t need them.

Inside, light gray laminate cabinets and big windows made it a very welcoming place to hide out during a storm, eat, hang with friends, and hunker down for the night.

Space is tight, as in any camper without pop-outs, but manageable. There’s great ventilation, thanks to oversized windows on either side of the bed, a skylight, a big window behind the sink, a small bathroom window, and another oversized window behind the seating area.

I loved the pull-up screens. They paired well with the pull-down privacy shades on all the windows and skylight.

The metal screen security door has a solid panel that closes over it when needed, as well as a permanent vent. There was always fresh air coming in, which was only a problem in winter. When I had the heat on to keep the temperature comfortable inside, I blocked that vent with a duffel of clothing.

The HQ19 has loads of storage. Skis fit laterally in the camper’s full-width front storage pod. At one point I had five pairs of skis, an equal number of boots, a battery generator, a compressor, tools, packs, helmets, the camper fuse box, and ski gear for two in there with room to spare. The pod can be accessed from either side, and it locks closed.

Two storage compartments in the front of the trailer held two propane tanks and an outdoor carpet on one side. It held multiple jerry cans, camp chairs , GoTreads, AutoSocks, a bike pump , and other emergency gear on the other.

The HQ19 has a hitch receptacle on the rear. But I was wary to add a hitch rack to this trailer, as it was already long. So, I stored mountain bikes inside my truck instead of on a hitch rack.

Black Series nailed it on storage inside, too. A lot of campers I’ve used feel cramped, like I always have too much to fit inside.

In the Black Series, even with two humans and three dogs, I had plenty of storage. The bathroom had three big drawers, a vertical cabinet under the sink, and spacious overhead cabinets.

The kitchen has three large storage compartments over the eating area, under-sink space, multiple drawers, another big cabinet over the sink, and two big open storage spaces that were awkward to get into. But they’re great for overflow supplies.

There was a lot of bedroom storage, too. However, it’s not as thoughtfully designed as storage in the rest of the camper. Closets on either side of the incredibly comfortable queen-sized bed had rods for hanging shirts, but I prefer shelving.

The hanging cabinet was tall. But the gear in the bottom of the closet was accessible only by blind rummaging. Above the bed, storage is super functional.

While almost every cabinet and drawer in the HQ19 had off-road-resistant hardware, the bedroom side cabinets didn’t latch. Drawers on either side of the bed were semi-useful for a headlamp and other small items. But I had to get out of the bed to open them.

A shoe compartment under the bed was a great place to store footwear and keep it out of the way. But there’s no place to hang wet, dirty clothes and gear in the entrance to the camper. I installed hooks on the entry wall, which I also used to hang car keys.

The Kitchen

I’ve never had a camper with an oven. I love to cook, and I used the oven more than I thought I would. I made pizza, muffins, biscuits, cookies, and more.

The spacious stainless-steel sink had both drinking water and general water faucets. Though in the time I had the camper, the water from both faucets was not potable. This happened despite swapping out filters in the double- and triple-filtration systems and bombing the tanks with bleach.

The stove had double covers that blocked the kitchen window when open. If I owned this camper, one of the first things I’d do is make a cutting board to replace the countertop cover, one that could be moved to cover the sink and provide additional prep space for cooking. Counter space in the camper was limited.

I removed the television, which blocked the counter space to the right of the sink, so I could have more space to work. The plug-in microwave ran off the inverter.

Because I used this camper in subfreezing temperatures, a Black Series dealer-installed tank heaters in the unit I tested. They worked seamlessly. And in temperatures down to 0 degrees F, with tank heaters on and the heat in the camper on, the tanks didn’t freeze.

Hot water on demand meant no waiting to do dishes or take a shower. This was great.

Black Series went overboard with their lighting. Low and soft reading lights next to the bed and in the dinette were awesome. Two sets of startlingly bright ceiling lighting in addition to softer ceiling lighting were overkill, and additional lights rimming the fans and ceiling hatch were too much — I never used them.

The super-bright LED exterior lights were great for getting work done after the sun went down, but I would have liked some more gentle lighting for hanging out outside in the evening.

Easy-to-use switches near the camper’s main entrance controlled all the camper lighting. A master switch let me turn off all the electricity with the push of a button.

The bathroom in the HQ19 is over the top, with a spacious shower, a ceramic sink that’s as big as the one you’d have at home, a pedal flush toilet, and a washing machine inside a cabinet. But the washing machine works using shore power only. So, I couldn’t use it when I was off-grid.

The stall shower is spacious with a handheld showerhead, and a flexible sliding door that wrapped around the body of the shower to open and close. But the bathroom fans were cheap, without weather protection, and without adjustability.

Outdoor Kitchen

According to Black Series, no one likes to cook inside. So, they installed a gorgeous stainless-steel kitchen outside in another pass-through storage compartment.

It has a sink, a two-burner stove, a stainless countertop that unfolds, and a silverware drawer, and another storage drawer. It’s sharp-looking but were I to own this camper, I’d replace the entire unit with a stainless-steel table, and I’d bring a grill or Traeger Ranger .

Because of the water issues with this camper, I didn’t hook up the outdoor sink. I used the counter a lot for serving food for friends, but it was too high to sit at and eat from with camp chairs. And the metal edges of this unit aren’t finished, resulting in some serious finger slices when I was packing up the kitchen for storage.

I’d love the outdoor kitchen compartment to be additional storage. It could also give me a work surface and hold a bike stand.

Difficulties, Systemic Problems Off-Grid

I don’t expect every system to work for off-grid living, though it would be nice if Black Series’ systems did.

The air conditioner is AC, so not off-grid compatible. And it’s the most basic unit Dometic makes — loud and with limited settings. The refrigerator is AC or gas, so I had to keep propane on all the time, including when I was driving.

The solar system served me well for camper lights. But I’d like to see it power more things, like the refrigerator. Lithium-ion batteries would be a worthy upgrade, though the inverter worked great.

The bathroom fans felt like if I left them open on a windy day the covers would snap off. Plus, they only have one speed, so they weren’t as useful for ventilation as Max Fans, which not only won’t let the weather in but have adjustability. Similarly, the range hood fan didn’t seem to vent anywhere and was noisy without being useful.

The outdoor shower had so little pressure I could barely rinse my legs off after a muddy bike ride. More water pressure would make the outdoor shower a useful gear wash as well as a second place to bathe.

For a modern camper, the HQ19 had a notable lack of plugs. Two outlets ran off the inverter. There were no USB ports and, in general, I found myself constantly juggling electronics to get everything charged from two outlets.

I was never able to drink the camper water. Black Series claims triple-filtered drinking water from a drinking water-specific tank, and double-filtered water in the general water tank. Both tasted toxic.

I bombed the tanks with bleach and replaced the filters. The water stopped smelling so bad, but I couldn’t use it even to do dishes. And it was certainly not potable. Unfortunately, I was not able to troubleshoot this with Black Series from the road.

The black water, gray water, and general and drinking water tank gauges are not accurate, which made it hard to know how much water I had left and how soon I needed to get back to civilization to refill. Gauges jumped between 50% and 76%. I would have appreciated more incremental readings.

The awning was flimsy, so I didn’t use it. In a breeze, it seemed in danger of getting torn off the camper.

Wooden covers under the dinette cushions that cover the battery compartment and other systems fell off on every drive. And the fan in the battery compartment ran constantly, even in cold temps. Connecting the fan to a thermometer would solve the problem.

A more powerful outdoor shower would double as a bike or gear wash. As delivered, the outdoor shower barely had enough force to rinse with. A fold-up plastic table and 12V plugs on the camper’s exterior seemed like extras that could be eliminated.

The windows don’t lock in their open positions, so anyone could enter the camper via an open window. And open windows or open roof hatch plus the bathroom fans are the only ventilation for an off-grid parked camper.

In a rainstorm, it was hard to vent the camper. Wind and rain were able to enter through all open windows, the roof hatch, and the fans.

Wear and Tear

In a month of use, the fridge handle snapped off — Black Series kindly sent me a replacement door, which I was able to pull the handle off of to fix the original.

Some of the cabinet latches stopped working. And weather stripping on the front of the camper sagged, drooped, and stretched and had to be cut and Gorilla taped back on. Several of the kitchen cabinet latches stopped working smoothly, and I had to repeatedly slam cabinets to get the latches to engage.

There are so many things I loved about the Black Series HQ19. And most of my complaints are certainly nitpicks and upgrades I could make myself over time.

The bones of the HQ19 are good, and Black Series could own the market for off-roaders who want all the comforts of home if they made some tweaks. As Black Series is positioning the brand as off-road capable, I expected that all systems would be durable and functional for outdoor living.

They still have some work to do to get there. And while most people who buy a camper or a trailer do some customization over time, there are things Black Series could and should do in their 2022 trailers to make buying one a no-brainer for those with cash in hand looking for a travel trailer that’s as comfortable as a hotel suite.

5 Takeaways from a Week Living in the Coolest Off-Road Camping Trailer

Seven nights in the Black Series HQ19 while exploring the West proved all sorts of revealing.

Sure, there are plenty of ways to explore the world and get out there in this day and age: AirBnBs , tents , hotels, motels, Holiday Inns , and so forth. But —presumably, like you — I often find myself sucked in by the gravitational pull of camper life. Whether it’s a camper van , a camping trailer , an RV or even a tent trailer , there’s something undeniably romantic and just plain cool about the idea of carrying the niceties of home behind you as you ramble on wherever your heart desires.

So when I had a chance this summer to spend a week adventuring across the American West while living out of one of the best new off-road camping trailers on the market, the Black Series HQ19 …well, what was I gonna say other than yes ?

1. The Black Series HQ19 is an intimidating beast of a camper

My first impression, seeing the Black Series awaiting me in a Boulder cul-de-sac: it’s bigger than I expected. The Ford F-250 Tremor I used as a tow vehicle looks proportionate to the HQ19’s mass…and the pickup stands six-foot-eight inches tall. (I know exactly, because of a very delicate incident with a six-foot-nine Denver parking garage.)

Part of that stems from the fact that the “19” in its name isn’t, as you might expect, its length. Tip to tail, the HQ19 is 26 feet long — roughly smack-dab in the middle of the Airstream lineup, for example. Add up the length of your tow vehicle — which, in my case, stretched about 20 feet from stem to stern — and you’re looking at an articulating combo vehicle nearly 50 feet long, bigger than any U-Haul or RV you’re ever likely to wheel about.

Gas stations require very careful, very deliberate maneuvers; measure twice, cut once is the name of the game when plotting how to approach and depart the pumps. Parking in box store or shopping mall lots requires finding a spot as far away from the door as possible, and being prepared to awkwardly block part of the lanes. And for the love of God, if you want fast food, do not attempt to go through the drive-thru.

2. The HQ19 is like bringing a hotel room anywhere you want

Given all that brutal efficiency outside, stepping into the HQ19 is like entering a whole different world. In both look and feel, the interior materials seem well worthy of home installation; I was briefly tempted to rip out the bathroom sink and bring it back with me. (“A bear broke in and stole it, I swear!”)

The queen-sized mattress is somewhat of the centerpiece of the interior, what with its dominance of the front end of the trailer. Sleeping is made easy thanks to the retractible bug-proof screens that pull down across the windows; with two big windows on either side of the bed and the crossbreed that comes with them, you can sleep with a peace you’ve never known before…at least, so long as it’s not unpleasantly warm and still outside, as it was a couple of nights during my trip. (That’s when the air conditioner comes in handy.)

Any chefs who normally feel constrained by the weaknesses of a camp kitchen will find a happy home-away-from-home here, as the HQ19 comes ready to cook. For starters, there’s no induction stove B.S. to deal with here; this Black Series packs three gas stovetop burners and a gas-powered oven, with a microwave to boot. The fridge and freezer are well-sized to hold food and drink for two people for several days, and more than capable of holding a nice cold temperature — at least, when connected to shore power. Left to run off the solar panels and batteries, the fridge warmed up a little — but with a full load of already-cool items inside to help maintain temperature, everything stayed quite chill even over the course of a 12-hour drive. (Still, if I were planning on spending a few days off-grid, I might invest in a big Yeti for added cold storage.)

Much like a boat, storage areas are scattered far and wide across the interior, with places to stow gear tucked away in all sorts of places. The “bedroom,” shall we say, boasts closets on either side of the mattress that even offer room to hang shirts and pants, while a deep cabinet above the headboard has space for a couple to bring well over a week’s worth of delicates, unmentionables and other garments that are happy being folded. There’s storage above the kitchen, storage above the dining area, and plenty of space in the bathroom. There’s even a secret hidey-hole under the mattress, in case you need a place to stash anything somewhat out of the way.

Oh, and this can’t be overstated: having a separate bathroom, with separate, standalone features, is a dream come true. Sure, the shower isn’t big — think upright coffin, but less claustrophobic — but the six-gallon water heater and 50-gallon fresh water tank means you can take honest-to-God warm showers like you always dreamed of while camping. And having a full-size toilet that doesn’t share space with sink or shower? Delightful.

3. Even with how big the HQ19 is, life can get a little tight inside (especially if you’re tall)

While the interior is aesthetically wonderful, there’s no way to get around the fact that it’s certainly tight, like any travel trailer of similar size. Moving about the cabin requires coordination and forethought; there’s only enough room for one at a time in the hallway that runs up the spine, so you’ll need to be ready to duck onto the bed or into the dinette if someone has to pass. Any chefs hard at work in the the well-organized kitchen may want to ask folks hanging around the table to keep their limbs pulled in, and even with the sliding privacy door, anyone seeking to use the bathroom without being heard will likely need to ask any cohabitants to pop outside.

Anyone standing over six feet tall should be wary of the stalactite blister of the air-conditioning system, which hangs down a couple inches below the roughly six-foot-two ceiling height and lies smack dab on the course you’ll have to take to reach the bathroom in the dark of night. And anyone over six-foot-two, well, get used to walking with your neck at an angle. (I found momentary respite by standing in the skylight.)

Still, if life inside grows a little wearisome, you can always pop outside. A motorized canopy slides out at the touch of a remote control button, shading a span around five feet deep and 10 feet wide along the starboard side by the door. (That said, be careful when opening the door with the awning out; it’ll scrape along the canopy unless you prop the awning’s legs up extra-high.) An extendable outdoor kitchen — like a low-tech version of Rivian’s camp kitchen — slides out from beside the door, packing a sink that connects to the on-board fresh water, a stove connected to the propane tanks and more counter space than most New York apartments. And there’s a remarkable amount of storage space hidden in the front, including a pass-through one that packs as many cubic feet as a Suburban with the third row down — more than enough room for all the folding camp furniture you’d want to bring.

And besides, the whole point of a camping trailer isn’t to spend all your time in it; it’s to eat, sleep and avoid the rain there, while spending the rest of your time exploring the world around you. If you want to spend your life inside, buy a house instead.

4. It’s hard to beat the appeal of off-road capability in a camper

Originally, I’d been supposed to tow the Black Series across the West using an F-150 Platinum Powerboost , but a last-minute scheduling change meant I wound up with the larger, burlier F-250 Tremor. Suffice it to say, the off-road-oriented truck’s added capability lined up nicely with the trailer’s design and purpose.

The HQ19’s off-road preparations start at the hitch, where — unlike the simple ball hitches favored by most campers — the Black Series attaches to its tow vehicle by way of a Hitchmaster articulating coupling, which allows the HQ19 to move at harsh angles that would detach a traditional trailer from its hitch. But the chassis and suspension are what really deliver the overlanding goods. The galvanized steel chassis is formed from a single piece of metal for added strength, while the wheels are connected to the body by a quad-shock independently articulating suspension, meeting the ground via 16-inch mud-terrain tires.

Full disclosure: as novice trailer folks, my partner and I largely stuck to campgrounds, both for the purposes of having a guaranteed supply of fresh water and electrons and out of the perhaps irrational concerns that might come with camping out alone in the wilderness beyond cell phone service. Still, a brief dash off-road was enough to prove the Black Series very much capable of handling the sorts of terrain that would scare off most SUV drivers.

5. Trailer life can throw you some curveballs

This section is less a commentary on the Black Series per se as it is living with any sort of decent-sized camping trailer, but they’re all lessons learned from spending a week hauling what amounted to a wheeled tiny house across a thousand miles of America.

For one thing, hauling a trailer means you should be prepared to see some terrifying new figures from your trip computer’s fuel economy reading. Adding more than three tons of mass to a truck engine’s workload is bound to make it work harder, but modern pickup motors are potent enough that acceleration is still brisk enough to

The bigger pain, in the long run, comes from the added drag that the trailer brings to the table. Even with the angled front end, the HQ19 presents a big, blocky surface to the wind, forcing the tow vehicle to fight hard to keep up (and also occasionally inducing some nerve-racking oscillations in the trailer). Drag increases faster the quicker you go; jumping from 50 to 60 mph induces more drag than going from 40 to 50, and so forth, so the faster you drive, the faster your fuel economy goes down.

Every F-250 Tremor comes outfitted with the gnarly new Godzilla V8, a 7.3-liter naturally aspirated gasoline-fueled beast that cranks out 430 horses and 475 lb-ft. While normally two of my favorite phrases in the motoring world, though, naturally aspirated and gasoline-fueled are not exactly the ideal for hauling a trailer long distances at more than a mile above sea level.

Thing is, Wyoming interstate’s speed limit is 80 miles per hour, and plenty of cars (and even some semis) like to cruise 5-10 mph over the limit, much like anywhere else. Keep it at 65 for better fuel economy, and you’ll have every other vehicle on the road blasting by like you’re standing still — a scary proposition when about half of those vehicles are eighteen-wheelers.

As a result, the truck/trailer combo’s highway range wound up coming in at just a little over 200 miles. Add in the sporadic nature of gas stations in Wyoming — you can easily go 50 miles or more without seeing one — and the drive left me with a newfound appreciation for what EV drivers have to deal with on long sojourns.

Detaching and re-attaching the trailer — specifically the latter — is its own set of stressors. More than one person half-jokingly told my partner and me some variation of “hooking up trailers can lead to breakups,” and while our relationship made it through fine, it’s certainly easy to see why it could push an unstable marriage straight into divorce court.

Attaching the trailer is by far the trickier of the two, as it requires backing up your tow vehicle to align very precisely with the hitch — a task that requires a spotter (who, of course, is usually a significant other) to direct the driver in. Luckily, modern technology makes this far easier; the indicator line on the F-250’s rearview camera that tells you where the trailer hitch will be made lining it up easy. The hitch that makes the Black Series so capable off-road doesn’t make things easier; while most trailers simply need their hitch to be higher than the ball, the direct attachment of the HQ19 means the trailer and truck need to have their heights exactly matched. Still, the hydraulic jack of the trailer means it’s easy for the spotter to raise or lower it to match the truck on the fly.

The black water tank of a camper presents its own set of problems. In case you’re unfamiliar, “black water” has nothing to do with the Doobie Brothers song; rather, it’s the septic tank that receives, well, whatever goes in the toilet. (There’s also a separate “gray water” tank that receives the outflow from the sinks and shower.) Expunging it requires attaching a thick hose (which you need to own) from your trailer’s outflow to a dump station — a permanent underground sewage tank at a campsite, opening a valve to let the black water tank drain out via gravity (hence why the dump station tank is underground), then rinsing out the tank using a dedicated water hookup on the outside of the trailer before detaching the thick hose from the trailer and rinsing it out with fresh water. Rubber gloves and a dedicated storage bag for the hose are highly recommended.

On the HQ19, both gray and black water tanks vent through a shared hole at the lower rear of the trailer, creating an ironic similarity to the human body’s own site of black water exodus. Normally, purging them should be a snap; do the black water tank first, shut its valve, then do the gray water tank to clean out the pipes. Our HQ19, however, had, for lack of a better term, been through some shit. As a result of the vibration brought on by many, many cross-country miles and the number of journalists and other testers who’d been through the trailer (in more ways than one), the connection to the black water tank had started to rust and corrode — leading to an unfortunate situation when a clog (which, for the record, was much the fault of previous users) prevented the tank from purging properly, causing a steady, smelly drip of effluent from the stern.

I won’t go into the details of how we solved the problem, due to both the advice of my therapist and legal council. Still, it’s worth noting: if you buy any camping trailer, take good care of the black water tank.

In the end: Camping trailer life is worth the struggle

As may seem clear by now, my week spent with the Black Series HQ19 certainly had its share of hardships — but don’t let that lead you to believe it was a bad experience. It’s something I wouldn’t trade away for anything. Camping out of the trailer gave me and my partner a chance to see parts of America we’d never seen before, with a freedom unlike any other form of vacationing. The world is your oyster; you never need worry about where you’ll need to spend the night, because your hotel is always behind you.

Still, if you buy an off-road camping trailer, be sure to make the most of it and take it off-road often — otherwise, something like an Airstream is probably a better bet. But if you really want to dive into overlanding and see new parts of the world while bringing along the comforts of home — well, you’d be hard-pressed to do it better than with an HQ19 hanging from your hitch.

In a mystery that’s catching fire within the community, the developers have linked two live-action trailers to the upcoming Black Ops installment. Interested individuals can find them on thetruthlies.com , a website designed to tease the new game. This website mimics an interactive TV with six channels where only two are currently broadcasting the teasers. Additionally, viewers have the option to download these videos as MP4s using the site’s record feature.

The visual on Channel 1 depicts a mysterious group concealing Mount Rushmore’s statues with banners stating “The truth lies.” The intriguing video includes the notorious wolf’s head logo, first seen at the recent Xbox Showcase announcement , confirming its connection to Black Ops 6.

Channel 2 continues the cryptic messaging, showcasing the same individuals plastering “The truth lies” posters around urban areas. Though the rest of the channels are currently inactive, the scene is set for Treyarch to maybe release further snippets over time.

Sources suggest that Black Ops 6 may set its story amidst the 1990-1991 Gulf War, which follows not long after the events of Cold War. Fans are speculating about potential returns of characters and narratively rich connections between this new addition and the previous games within the Black Ops universe.

There was some concern that the franchise would miss a year for the first time in over a decade, however, rumors and leaks have all but confirmed that we will be getting yet another Call of Duty game this year on schedule. We have confirmation now that it will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but that’s about it. In fact, all the rumors and leaks we will be talking about could no longer be true, or may never have been true in the first place. That said, many have some credible sources that make them worth at least taking a look at. The next Call of Duty is expected to have an official reveal in the coming months, at which time we will update this article with the hard facts. Until then, this is everything we think we know about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 .

Release date window

Call of Duty has never missed a fall release, even when it probably should have, so we don’t see it giving up that spot in 2024. Look for an October or November release as usual.

Despite Activision being purchased by Xbox, Call of Duty will not be an Xbox exclusive any time soon. What we don’t know is if this will be yet another cross-generation game since last year’s Modern Warfare 3 did also launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems. The only thing we can confidently say is it will be on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

According to Windows Central , which spoke to sources familiar with the matter , Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be set during the titular conflict between the U.S. and Iraq and be a mix of traditional large-scale battles with the more tactical and spy-focused missions the Black Ops games are known for.

While not exactly trailers, a new site called The Truth Lies has been uncovered and is teasing the new Black Ops title with some cryptic videos. The site shows an old TV with six channels you can flip between, however, only the first two have videos as of now. The first shows a group sneaking onto Mount Rushmore during the night to blindfold the monument with the words ” The Truth Lies” and a mysterious logo.

The second is what appears to be a different group putting up posters of Mount Rushmore with the same blindfolds and “The Truth Lies” message as the first.

We can assume more channels will add to this narrative leading up to the official reveal.

Again, there’s nothing official here, but there are plenty of leaks and rumors. The most prominent and credible comes from Insider Gaming and suggests Black Ops 6 will embrace an open-world design for its campaign. Modern Warfare 3 already dabbled in open-zone mission structures, so this does seem like the logical evolution of that design. The report states that the gameplay flow will feature the player and a squad exploring a map somewhat similar to a Far Cry game in which you can use vehicles and fast travel systems to move around the map. Finally, for fans of the franchise, Adler will apparently make a return for this entry.

It is also noted that linear missions will be included, so the formula won’t be completely overhauled based on this report.

Zombies will, of course, be back as well, and go back to the more traditional round-based structure.

There are no preorder details just yet, but you can count on there being at least three different editions with various bonuses and extras associated with them once the game is announced. As soon as the official reveal occurs and preorder information is available, we will update this article.

Activision announced that it will officially reveal Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at the Xbox Games Showcase, which begins at 1:00 PM Eastern/10 AM Pacific on June 9. Fans can then check out Black Ops 6 Direct immediately after the showcase.

It’s unsurprising that Black Ops 6 will be at the Xbox Showcase. Activision and Microsoft tried to play coy with the showcase announcement and logo reveal at the end of April . However, fans picked up on the Call of Duty connection almost immediately. It was then confirmed by Wednesday’s The Truth Lies teasers , the first of which, showing vandals blindfolding the statues of Mount Rushmore, was later uploaded to the franchise’s official YouTube channel.

Speaking of the teasers, Activision has updated TheTruthLies.com teaser website , which features an interactive TV with 6 channels. The live-action Mount Rushmore video now plays on Channel 3. Channel 1 now displays a channel guide. Channel 6 is a news broadcast showing Mount Rushmore isn’t the only vandalized monument. Other targets include the US Supreme Court, Washington Monument, the Statue of George IV in London, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, and the miniature Statue of Liberty in Paris.

In addition to Mount Rushmore’s “The truth lies,” other slogans read, “Justice isn’t blind, you are,” “Truth is the first casualty in war,” and “In lies we trust.” The French and German graffiti also translates to “Liberty, fraternity, duplicity” and “The truth lies.” Truth is obviously a big theme in Black Ops 6 and even appears in the Channel 6 News slogan, “On the right side of truth.”

There are also some interesting details on the Channel 1 guide. For example, the video of people hanging posters on Channel 2 is called Tear Down the Lies. Meanwhile, the Mount Rushmore video is called The Truth Cometh. The weather forecast includes “Excessive Deceit,” “Scattered Lies,” and “Chance of Deception.” It’s also probably not a coincidence that the off-air Channel 4 is called SHAM.

As with yesterday, these teasers still leave more questions than answers. However, we do know that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 takes place during the Gulf War. It also reportedly focuses on the shady activities of the CIA, explaining the focus on truth and lies. Fans will learn more at the reveal, but it might be worth keeping an eye on the teaser website until then.

NAPPANEE, Ind. (WSBT) — One person is dead after a straight tanker truck ran off the road and lost control on Tomahawk Trail near ATC Trailers.

Indiana State Police say in their preliminary investigation the truck was traveling southbound. It then ran off the road to the right and lost control.

Police said, “As the truck came back onto the roadway, the truck rolled onto the right side and continued to slide southbound. As the truck slid, it caught on fire and spun around coming to rest facing north in the northbound lane.”

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene by the Elkhart County Coroner.

The Elkhart County Coroner will make a positive identification of the driver following an autopsy.

Those who live in nearby, saying they knew something was wrong right away.

"I live in Wakarusa, which is about five, six miles to the north of here. And even before I left city limits, I could see the smoke and the blackness and the billowing and I knew it was going to be just something really dreadful," Amy Wenger said.

Drew Bradberry is a student nearby.

He tells me that his class was outside and once he saw the smoke he initially thought a house was on fire but knew how serious it was when he saw the crash.

"At first I thought somebody was definitely not alive in that truck. I thought somebody was seriously injured. And then the second thing I thought was how did this happen? And then I was just afraid for all the buildings and you know people that were involved," Bradberry said.

Adding that he has never seen anything like it and was shaken at the sight.

"I've seen explosions and I've been in car wrecks myself, but I've never I've never seen a fuel tanker like that explode. I everybody knows it's possible. But just something like that with actual people involved is just a terrible thing," Bradberry said.

WSBT is still working to learn the name of the driver and what exactly caused the crash.
