My first time at the Eatons Hotel and also my first time seeing Suicidal Tendencies.
Support bands were great but it took me a long time to start enjoying myself after having a really shitty week.
A long wait for ST and the room had filled completely by now. Naturally a chant broke out from the impatient crowd.
The band came on one by one and Mike last. He’s the only original member and hasn’t lost any energy, pacing and strutting across the stage for the whole set. My old ears found it hard to understand his fast paced banter between songs, but everyone else enjoyed it.
He called up a woman called Kelly from the crowd and after a case of mistaken identity, the real one came up with her boyfriend and she proposed on stage to him!
I’m recovering from a smashed leg and two surgeries, but the band had really warmed up and I couldn’t stop myself from getting into the mosh pit. They were that good!
The highlight for me was when they played How Will I Laugh Tomorrow... It just went fucking mental! I lost my left shoe but I bumped into a dude later in the night who found it. Thanks man!
At the end of the set, they let the punters up on stage for the last song. The place was going crazy!
I had an awesome night. I’m very sore two days later. Proof of a good band and a good time!

Awesome show as always. Never disappointed when going to a Suicidal show. Never... Sounded great. And I love you're get down Mike. Hope to keep seeing you guys in the near future... Real soon again.
Suicidal tendencies was not good. Mike Muir had a lot of energy that was entertaining at times, but at other's real gross. His hair cut is ridiculous, bald exept for a pony tail. During Suicidal's set the vocals were hard to make out. I am a fan of suicidal tendencies, but I have no intentions of seeing them in concert again.

Suicidal Tendencies Announce November 2023 Australian Tour
The tour celebrates the band's 40th anniversary.
Suicidal Tendencies (Source: Supplied)
US thrash/hardcore punk outfit Suicidal Tendencies have announced a run of Australian tour dates to correspond with their 40th anniversary, in addition to their headlining slot at Adelaide’s Froth And Fury Festival .
Froth And Fury has quickly become one of the most impressive line-ups on the Australian festival calendar this year, catering to fans of all types of heavy music – recent additions include local legends Windwaker, Reliqa and Ocean Grove and Germany’s Beyond The Black for their first-ever Australian show.
This November, you can catch Suicidal Tendencies on their Still Cyco Punk After All These Years tour – playing their 1983 self-titled debut album in full – in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
Spearheaded by founding member Mike Muir , the 2023 Suicidal Tendencies line-up is something of a supergroup, comprising Ben Weinman ( The Dillinger Escape Plan , Better Lovers ), Dean Pleasants, Tye Trujillo (son of the one and only Robert Trujillo , who previously enjoyed a stint in the band), and newest member, drummer Greyson Nekrutman .
Suicidal Tendencies will begin their Australian tour on Saturday, 11 November, at The Triffid in Brisbane, Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Thursday, 16 November, Melbourne’s Croxton Bandroom on Friday, 17 November, and head to Adelaide for Froth And Fury on Saturday, 18 November.
Tickets to the band’s headlining shows on the East Coast go on sale this Thursday, 3 August, at 10 am local time via the Suicidal Tendencies website .

At Froth And Fury, Suicidal Tendencies will be joined by fellow co-headliners The Butterfly Effect , Sunk Loto playing Between Birth & Death in its entirety, RedHook , Alien Weaponry , Caligula’s Horse , Lagerstein , Mirrors , and many more.
“When I was much younger, I didn’t think I would make it to 30 years old,” Mike Muir admitted in a 2016 Kill Your Stereo interview .
He continued, “For us now, and for what we’ve done, I can say that this is the most fun I’ve had in the band. I’m very fortunate to be around the same people who are all having the same goal. Honestly, this is actually the first time that I’ve had fun in the band. It's a band filled with people that I actually like, and we’re all pulling in the same direction.”
Suicidal Tendencies last visited Australia in March 2018 as part of Download Festival and played five sideshows on their Get Your Fight On! tour.

Suicidal Tendencies to Celebrate 40th Anniversary of Debut Album on 2023 Australian Tour
By Music Feeds
Los Angeles thrash and hardcore band Suicidal Tendencies are bringing their Still Cyco Punk After All These Years tour to Australia in November 2023. The band, led by vocalist and founding member Mike “Cyco Miko” Muir, are honouring the 40th anniversary of their self-titled 1983 debut album, which contained the immortal crossover single ‘Institutionalized’.
Muir and co. will play headline shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and perform at Adelaide’s Froth and Fury Festival in mid-November. The 40th anniversary celebration is ST’s first Australian tour in more than five years. Muir is the band’s sole original member, but lead guitarist Dean Pleasants has been by his side since 1996.
Suicidal Tendencies – ‘Institutionalized’
Suicidal Tendencies formed in the LA suburb of Venice in 1980. Muir was initially joined by guitarist Mike Ball, bass player Mike Dunnigan and drummer Carlos Egert, but none of Muir’s co-founders remained by the time Suicidal Tendencies came out in 1983, presaging the revolving door policy that’s been in effect throughout the band’s history.
Several noteworthy drummers have entered the fold over the years, including former Megadeth member Jimmy DeGrasso (1992–1995), Avenged Sevenfold’s Brooks Wackerman (1996–2001), Social Distortion’s David Hidalgo Jr. (2002–2008) and Slayer’s Dave Lombardo (2016-2021).
Metallica’s Rob Trujillo played bass on the albums Lights…Camera…Revolution! (1990), The Art of Rebellion (1992) and Suicidal for Life (1994), while Thundercat , aka Steve Bruner, enjoyed a decade-long stint at ST’s bass player, alongside his brother, drummer Ronald Bruner Jr. Thundercat can be heard on the ST albums No Mercy Fool!/The Suicidal Family (2010) and 13 (2013).
Muir and Pleasants have been kept company in recent years by Trujillo’s son Tye Trujillo and Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist and songwriter, Ben Weinman. Drummer Greyson Nekrutman joined the band earlier this year.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse ride again at Xfinity Center
MANSFIELD — True to a prolific and restless nature, Neil Young has been busy over the past decade. The veteran Canadian-born rocker has released more than a dozen records of new or archival material, undertaken solo tours and benefit gigs, and waged public protest against Joe Rogan, Monsanto, Ticketmaster, fossil fuels, and low-quality digital audio (among other targets). One thing Young notably hadn’t done in that span was hit the road for a proper trek with his best-known and best-loved backing band, Crazy Horse. That drought finally came to an end for New England on Friday night with a stop at the Xfinity Center on this spring’s “Love Earth” tour.
Throughout a career spanning gentle folk, down-home country-rock, proto-grunge, and the occasional rockabilly or synthpop detour, Young’s collaborations with the Horse have often been an outlet for his rawest electric missives. That held true for much of Friday’s two-hour show. The band’s current iteration, which features the founding rhythm section of bassist Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina alongside newcomer guitarist Micah Nelson, exhibited characteristically ramshackle spirit on a stage whose oversized amplifier and road case props huddled the foursome together in rock-club-close quarters. The arrangement felt conducive to a certain bar-band looseness, emphasizing feel over precision, that has always been key to the Crazy Horse DNA.
At the forefront of their sound, Young’s guitar remained distinctive and arresting, from the serrated leads of “Like a Hurricane” to his downright lyrical soloing on a stirring “Powderfinger.” Meanwhile, Nelson — son of country legend Willie — proved a lowkey but eminently capable new-blood foil to the ensemble, his robust rhythm playing a seamless fit. Having previously shared the stage backing Young as part of his brother Lukas’s band Promise of the Real, the progression was only natural.
As for the setlist, Friday’s show resisted Young’s occasional tendencies to confound audiences with unfamiliar material or new songs stretching into marathon jams, opting for something pretty well close to a crowd-pleaser. The riff-y “Cinnamon GIrl” revved things up following the loping lament of opener “Cortez the Killer,” and the mood then ran the gamut from an appropriately wearied “Roll Another Number” to a defiant, fiery “F*!#in’ Up.” The catalog’s folksier side had its moment too, with signature song “Heart of Gold” highlighting a brief stretch of the evening that was pared to just Young, an acoustic guitar, and a harmonica.

Young famously reckoned with burning out versus fading away on the bookending acoustic and electric tracks of 1979′s “Rust Never Sleeps” — the latter of which thundered forth after the aforementioned quiet interlude to end the main set. And while “Hey Hey, My My” decidedly took one path, melting down in a distortion duel between Young and Nelson’s guitars, the man and the band successfully spent the night proving their resistance to either outcome.
