Visit Dharavi and see why it is the heart of small-scale industry in Mumbai

Known to many as ‘one of the largest slums in Asia’, we prefer to think of Dharavi as Mumbai’s beating heart. It houses about one million of Mumbai’s inhabitants and its industries have an annual turnover of approximately US$ 665 million.

Through our educational walking tours, visitors experience a wide range of these business activities: recycling, pottery-making, embroidery, bakery, soap factory, leather tanning, poppadom-making and many more.

We’ll also visit the residential areas of Dharavi. People from all over India have come to live in Dharavi, making it a microcosm of India. This diversity is apparent in the temples, mosques, churches and pagodas that stand side by side.

Our community centre that is funded through the profits from the tours is also located in the residential area. We will visit it and you will learn about the programs that our NGO, Reality Gives , offers the community.

Our 2 hour and 30 minute introduction to Dharavi aims to give visitors a much more nuanced understanding of life and work in Mumbai slums. You can also add a  lunch with a local family , pottery class or street art walk after the morning tour. Not only will you get additional insight into Dharavi, but you’ll provide a local family with some extra income!

*Please note that it’s not possible to take photos while in Dharavi to respect the residents’ privacy.

What will I see in Dharavi?

We focus on the small scale industries in Dharavi, such as recycling, the making of clay pots, embroidery, bakery, soap factory, leather tanning, papad (poppadom) making and many others, most of which take place in very small spaces. We also pass by the residential areas, where you really get a feel of how the people live and the sense of community that exists in the area.

People from all over India and from all religions live in Dharavi, and you will see this diversity. On the tour you will pass Hindu temples, mosques and churches in the area. When open, we visit the social projects run by our sister organisation and NGO Reality Gives, such as the community centre. It is quite an adventure to pass through the narrow alleys and you will almost certainly lose your sense of direction!.

Is Dharavi safe?

Although we cannot take responsibility should anything happen, we believe that the places that we visit are very safe. There are a lot of people in Dharavi (one million approximately in an area of 0.7 square miles) and there is a strong police presence in the area. Dharavi is generally full of hard-working, honest people, although for security purposes we ask you not to take valuables with you on the tour.

In the small alleys you have to be careful of low hanging roofs, open drains, and occasionally exposed electric wires. Also, in some of the factories that we visit there are fumes that can be hazardous.

Is Dharavi hygienic?

With the very high density of population and the limited infrastructure and sanitation facilities, there are areas which are quite dirty and smelly. We ask you to wear covered shoes.

What clothing should be worn on the slum tours?

We recommend that you wear covered shoes as some areas can be dirty, especially during the monsoon months from June to mid September. We request that you do not wear clothes that might offend the residents such as low cut shirts, short shorts/pants etc.

Why can we not bring cameras on the slum tours?

We have a strict no camera policy in order to respect the privacy of the local residents. Dharavi has received a lot of attention from the media and the residents are very wary of being exploited. The policy may be considered strict but our relationship with the Dharavi community has been built over a number of years based on mutual respect. We do not wish for even the occasional photo as it could be incorrectly perceived as our starting to permit general photography on our tours. We can, however, send you a link to Dharavi photos which can be downloaded. There is also the opportunity to buy postcards at the end of the tour, all profits going to our sister NGO Reality Gives .

Can I buy anything on the tour?

We don’t sell or ask you to buy any products made by the residents of Dharavi on the tour. We don’t want you to feel obliged to buy anything. If there is anything in particular that you find interesting on the tour, then by all means you can speak to the guide and he can help you buy it. There is also the opportunity to buy postcards and other merchandise at the end of the tour, all profits going to our sister NGO Reality Gives .

Is it appropriate to bring small children on the tour?

There are health hazards highlighted above which children need to be very aware of. Otherwise we see no problem with bringing children of any age on the tour. Indians are very welcoming and receptive to young people.

I don't like going on organised tours. Is it possible to visit Dharavi on my own?

Yes it is possible to visit Dharavi on your own, and in our opinion it is safe to do so. However you will not know the best places to go, the area is like a maze and you will not gain the same insight as with one of our guides.

I hear that Dharavi is going to be redeveloped. Will I still be able to see the area?

The redevelopment plan has been stalled many times and now it looks like the original plan has been scrapped and a new one is being suggested. Due to the value of the land in Dharavi now, some say that redevelopment in some form is inevitable but there are still a lot of issues to be resolved and the developers have still not been announced. It should be possible to visit Dharavi even while the development (which would take several years) takes place.

Where is Dharavi?

Dharavi is situated between Mahim and Sion – two areas at the northern tip of South Mumbai, just before the suburbs commence (Bandra and Kurla). It is sandwiched between the Western and Central Railway lines. It is about 10km south of the International Airport and 18km north of Colaba, the main tourist area.

I want to do a Dharavi Tour and another tour on the same day. Is this advisable?

Absolutely! Our tour timings were decided with this in mind. Have a look at the timings for the tours and let us know!

I am staying in Colaba. Where should I meet for the Dharavi Tour?

The easiest place to meet the guide is at Churchgate station; this is a 15 – 20 minute walk from Colaba.

I am meeting you at Mahim Station at Dharavi. How long does it take to get there?

FROM COLABA:

By train: it is a 15-20 minute walk to Churchgate station and then it takes approximately 45 minutes to buy the ticket and catch a “slow train” to Dharavi (Mahim Station).

By taxi: By taxi it takes about 50 minutes to an hour

FROM AIRPORT AREA: By taxi: it takes about 40 minutes in the afternoon, and 50 minutes in the morning. Please note that it’s not possible to get an auto-rickshaw to Mahim Station

FROM JUHU: By train: you need to go to Vile Parle or Santa Cruz Station and catch a “slow train” to Mahim Junction. Total time approx 40 mins.

By taxi: it takes about 35 minutes in the afternoon, and 50 minutes in the morning. Please note that it’s not possible to get an auto-rickshaw to Mahim Station

Mumbai Dharavi Slum Tours: Options and Why Go on One

mumbai dharavi tour

Overview of Dharavi Slum Tours

Voyeuristic poverty tourism? Gawking at the misery of the underprivileged? If this is your idea of a Dharavi slum tour, then you're severely mistaken. Tours of Dharavi in Mumbai, the largest slum in Asia, have grown in popularity in recent years -- but for a very good reason. These tours aim to dispel any notions that people may have of Dharavi being a place of misery, and are actually very inspiring. They show what people are capable of achieving despite adverse conditions. What's more, most of the tours are conducted by Dharavi residents themselves.

As Be the Local Tours and Travel state on their website:

"If visitors are expecting extreme poverty and despair based on movie depictions, they will be disappointed. In fact this tour actively breaks stereotypical depictions of slums."

Rather than poverty tourism, it's more accurate to think of Dharavi tours as community tourism.

Options for Dharavi Tours

Nowadays you'll find numerous tour companies in Mumbai that offer Dharavi slum tours. These ones are recommended:

  • Reality Tours and Travel - Founded in 2005 to provide educational walking tours of Dharavi. 80% of the company's after tax profits go to its NGO, Reality Gives, which runs high-quality education programs in Dharavi for residents.
  • Be The Local Tours and Travel - Started by Dharavi residents, this company works to support local students to study full time by training them and employing them as tour guides. This gives them income to fund their education and boosts their confidence by enabling them to meet people from all over the world.
  • Mohammed's Dharavi Slum Tours - Mohammad Sadique, an enthusiastic and enterprising young Dharavi local, founded Inside Mumbai Tours after previously working in a call center and learning English. He has been able to fund his education with the money from his bespoke Dharavi tours, which are tailored to individual interests and personally led by him.

What the Dharavi Tours Offer

  • Reality Tours and Travel - Two and a half hour Dharavi walking tours cover the recycling area, rooftop visit for a fantastic view, visit to a community center funded by the company's profits, papaddam making, and potters colony. Tours depart twice a day, at set times in the morning and afternoon, and cost 900 rupees per person. It's possible to have lunch in a Dharavi family home after the morning tour (cost 1,500 rupees per person including the tour). Tours can also be combined with sightseeing in Mumbai. More information.
  • Be the Local Tours and Travel - One or two-hour walking tours of Dharavi encompass the industrial areas, residential areas, local schools, and pottery colony. Two daily departure times, in the morning and afternoon, are offered. It's possible to go on the short one hour tour any time between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. More information. Be the Local Tours and Travel have also added a foodie tour option in Dharavi, for those who would like to cook and eat a meal in a local home. The cost is 2,000 rupees per person.
  • Mohammad's Dharavi Slum Tours - The most personal option, two and a half hour Dharavi walking tours explore back alleys and main thoroughfares of Dharavi to see small businesses, factories, and workshops. A stop at an atmospheric local cafe for a snack is included. Departure times are flexible and the cost is 600 rupees per person. Photography isn't permitted but Mohammad does run a special photography tour of Dharavi slum. It's also possible to have a meal with his family or even stay with them overnight for a really insightful experience. Contact Mohammad with your specific requirements and he will take care of all the arrangements. More information.

Whichever tour you choose to take, make sure you bring money for shopping ! Textile fabrics, leather goods, and other items can all be purchased from small-scale Dharavi manufacturers at great prices.

A Look Inside Dharavi: My Experience

"Welcome to Dharavi!" a customer called out to us from the chai wala , as we exited the stairs at Mahim West railway station. I had just entered what is often labeled as Asia's largest slum. Yes, THAT slum, which rose to fame in the movie Slumdog Millionaire and angered many Indians for its portrayal of poverty. The movie has been referred to as an example of "poverty porn", one that encourages perverse western voyeurism and promotes slum tourism and volunteering .

And, there I was, about to embark on a two hour "slum tour" of Dharavi. But, if you think I was indulging in any kind of poverty voyeurism, think again.

"You live in Mumbai but have never been to Dharavi?", my guide, Salman, was shocked and not at all impressed when he found out. "I've never really had any reason to visit," I tried to defend myself. He was having none of it though. "It's important for everyone to come to Dharavi and see how it functions, see the industry going on here. This is not a place where poor people are depressed. Look around. Do you see any beggars?", he implored me.

Indeed, I could not. What I could see were laughing children running through the lanes and playing cricket, and people diligently working in all types of small-scale industries.

Dharavi's Astonishing Economy

To further dispel any notion of poverty stricken people miserable in squalor, Salman began quoting astonishing numbers to me. In Dharavi, there are a total of 4,902 production units bringing in an annual income of around $1 billion. They're divided into:

  • 1039 textiles
  • 932 potters
  • 567 leather
  • 498 embroidery
  • 722 recycling
  • 111 restaurants
  • Thousands of boutiques.

"Dharavi has so many specialist industries because of the people moving here from different areas of India, and they bring their skills with them," Salman informed me.

It's worth nothing that, apparently, there is less than 10% unemployment in Dharavi.

Salman, whose name is actually Salman Khan (yes, the same as the Bollywood actor, who not surprisingly is very popular in Salman's household), is a proud Dharavi local. His grandparents migrated to Mumbai and he has lived in Dharavi all his life. Perhaps not what you'd expect, he confidently speaks flawless English and is studying Science at college. He's also employed as a Dharavi tour guide by Be The Local Tours and Travel.

Redevelopment of Dharavi

As we walked, Salman continued to explain the importance of Dharavi in the context of Mumbai. "Now, everyone is taking an interest in Dharavi's infrastructure and facilities. It's well connected by both Mahim West railway station and the Eastern Express Highway. The government wants to redevelop the area and build high-rise apartments, and they'll move the residents into these apartments."

Without understanding Dharavi, you could easily mistake this for a good thing. After all, residents will be getting free apartments as part of the deal. However, as Salman revealed to me, the truth is much more complicated. "The residents have emotional attachment to their chawls . Plus, the government is going to give everyone 225-275 square foot apartments, regardless of how much space they already have. Also, only people who have been living in Dharavi from before the year 2000 are eligible to get an apartment."

Then, there is the troublesome issue of what will happen to the small-scale industries, which will have to be moved out of the area. "It will be difficult for residents to have to travel to far-off, relocated work places," Salman lamented.

Dharavi's Incredible Recycling Industry

The first part of the Dharavi tour took us through some of the small-scale industry workshops. It was fascinating to see how they operated. Salman explained the process of plastic recycling, as we watched the work going on.

"First, the plastics for recycling are grouped together according to color and quality. Next, they're crushed and made into small pieces. Then, they're washed and dried on the roof tops. After that, they're taken and rolled into pallets, and sent to the plastic manufacturers. 60,000 recycled products are made from them."

All kinds of plastic items, from chai cups to pieces of old telephones, were being sorted through and processed by Dharavi residents.

Other Small-Scale Industries in Dharavi

My friend and I got really excited once we reached the block-printing workshop. They were making export quality fabrics -- and due to overwhelming demand, it was possible to buy them!

Salman called the "boss man" over. "He doesn't look like the boss but he is," he referred to the informally dressed topless man, who commenced laying out a range of beautiful fabrics before us. Unlike many Indian shopkeepers, he knew not to pull out too many pieces, which would overwhelm and confuse us. He also left us alone to decide what we wanted.

The tour progressed through other small-scale industries. Used tin drums were being renewed and repainted, leather was being processed, vessels were being spun on pottery wheels, small clay diyas were being shaped, and pappads were being rolled out (next time you dine at a restaurant in Mumbai, it's likely that the pappad you eat would've been made in Dharavi).

While photography isn't allowed on the Dharavi tour, occasionally Salman gave us the opportunity to take pictures. "The artists do appreciate the acknowledgement of their work. It makes them proud that foreigners come and take an interest in what they do, and even buy what they make."

Education in Dharavi

As I was looking at the diyas , a giggling group of small girls came over to say hello and talk to us. "I want to explore the world with you," one declared. She must've only been aged around six or seven, but already she was dreaming big. And, talking fluently in English.

I asked Salman about education in Dharavi. "Around 80% of children are going to school now. Parents are recognizing the importance of education and learning English." Then he reeled off more numbers to me. "There are 60 municipality schools, four secondary schools, and 13 private schools in Dharavi."

There's also great unity in the slum. "28 temples, 11 mosques, six churches, and 24 Islamic education centers", Salman informed me. "Most industries are self sufficient, but they also support each other. For example, the potters use scraps of cloth from the textile industries as fuel for their kilns."

Dharavi's Remarkable Community Spirit

No doubt, it's the distinctive sense of community that helps make Dharavi a cheerful place. Salman took us through the narrow lanes of one residential part of the slum -- lanes so narrow that I struggled to walk properly and had to crouch down to avoid hitting my head. There were exposed wires everywhere. But, it was clean, and huge drums of fresh drinking water stood at the entrance to people's homes. Groups of housewives sat around chatting to each other, while their children played. "The slum even has 24 hour power," Salman said. "The government has been looking after it."

But what about the infamous slum Mafia? Salam laughed. "It doesn't really exist anymore. They've become politicians so what they do is legal now."

Conclusion and Lessons Learned

Too soon, the two hours of the tour were up. "I hope it's changed your thoughts about Dharavi?" Salman asked.

Without a doubt, it was an amazing, eye-opening, and POSITIVE experience. Everyone should go on a Dharavi tour and experience it for themselves. In my view, anyone who is reluctant to do so because they're worried about "poverty tourism" needs to examine their egos and false sense of superiority. The people in Dharavi are not ashamed of how they live, nor are they miserable. They are friendly, welcoming, and dignified.

Think of it this way. Most of us don't have the riches to afford a private jet and we often travel on public transport. Are we sad because we can't afford a private jet? No. Sad because we don't have a chauffeur driven limousine? Sad because we don't live in a 12 bedroom mansion? No. It's simply not part of our existence, our standard of living. In fact, we don't even know what we're missing. Likewise, the residents of Dharavi are not feeling depressed because they don't have the same standard of living as us. They're far too busy making the most of what they have, not dwelling on what they don't have. And, if you put aside notions of money and material wealth, they're actually richer than what we are because there's so much love and support among their community, they need never feel isolated, sad or lonely. To be totally honest, I envied them for this.

Salman chatted to us some more before departing. "My dream is to own an Audi but I know not to rely on that to make me happy. My boss, the tour company owner, told me that I'll only want something else after a while."

Ain't that the truth! There are indeed important life lessons to be learned from visiting Dharavi.

Mumbai is a city of dreams. Many people come here to fulfill their dreams of becoming something. Some of the dreams get fulfilled while others remain in the eyes only. The people who are in the second category often do not return and stay back. Dharavi is one such place in Mumbai, which is full of these kinds of people. It s one of the largest slums of Asia and also the heart of Mumbai. Many people who visit Mumbai, often want to see this place. Thus a special walking trip is arranged to this place. I enjoyed this trip thoroughly as I got to know more about their lifestyle. I suggest this trip to everyone.

Had a marvellous Dharavi tour this weekend for 1.5 hrs.Tour guide Paras was very categorical in telling that this was not a slum tour for showing poverty to foreigners but to show them the reality about entrepreneurial inhabitats of Dharavi who work vey hard for their daily needs. After taking this tour i feel a proud indian and a proud mumbaikar.Would definetly recommend this to every mumbaikar and to every indian to see dharavi from a perspective other than one projected by hollywood movies

Wanted to take my kids here, for obvious reasons. Our tour guide Dev was very pleasant and helpful. The service was flawless by the locals. It was very safe, with maximum efforts taken for safety. Kids were not scared, rather amused and thoughtful. Saw the various mosques, churches and temples - diversity in the purest form. Everything was well planned out. You should bring your kids here once. Thanks Thrillophilia.

Dharavi is a witness to many unfulfilled dreams. Mumbai is said to welcome anyone who comes to the city with eyes full of dreams. But, destiny is not with everyone. People who do not taste success and yet want to stay back in Mumbai, often choose Dharavi as their place. It s one of the largest slums of Asia and also the heart of Mumbai. How can I miss a trip to Dharavi? I suggest everyone to visit this place.

About one million of Mumbai residents live in Dharavi. Obviously their lifestyle and their professions will be different. Recycling, pottery making, embroidery and soap making are few of them. I got a taste of all of this in Dhravai tour.

 Rated : 4.0

As people say the heart of Mumbai is Dharavi. Even I think that is true. Unbelievable place to learn life in a different way. Couldn't even imagine there were places like pottery making, recycling, etc. It was a good learning experience for me. Thanks Thrillophilia.

our driver and local guide, Dharmesh took us to the largest slum of Asia and we heartfelt the lifestyle of people closely with enriching experience. Kudos to Thrillophilia for the amazing sightseeing experience.

I always saw Mumbai as a city of dreams and celebrities, and last week on this tour I was able to see the other side of the city, in Dharavi. It was really informative of the guide, Hemanth, to explain to us the hard working lifestyles of the people and what their day-to-day activities and jobs are.

Never knew this side to Bombay existed and I'm happy that Thrillophilia arranged such a tour for us to be able see the lesser known side of the city.

Its called the largest slum in Asia and I am glad I booked this tour to see another side to life. Saw many people engaged in different activities, thanks Thrillophilia for organising offbeat tours like this

People Also Ask About Dharavi Slum Tour

What will i see in dharavi slum tour.

We focus on the small scale industries in Dharavi, such as recycling, pottery, embroidery, bakeries, soap factories, leather tanning, papad (poppadom) making, and many others, most of which take place in very small spaces. We also pass by the residential areas, where you really get a feel of how the people live and the sense of community that exists in the area.  We also visit one of the community centers run by our sister organization and NGO Reality Gives. Here you will learn more about the programs that are supported by the profits from the tour.

Is Dharavi safe?

Yes, Dharavi is safe to visit. The places that we visit are very safe. Since April 2014 we have been tracking whether our guests felt safe throughout the tour on our post-tour questionnaire; 99.7% of our guests felt completely safe throughout the tour.

Is Dharavi hygienic?

With the very high population density and the limited infrastructure and sanitation facilities, there are areas that are quite dirty and smelly. We ask you to wear covered shoes and mask.

What clothing should be worn on the Dharavi Slum Tour?

We recommend that you wear covered shoes as some areas can be dirty, especially during the monsoon months from June to mid September. We ask ladies to dress modestly which means no sleeveless shirts, short shorts, or low tops.

Why can we not bring cameras on the Dharavi Slum Tour?

We have a strict no-camera policy in order to respect the privacy of the local residents. There is also the opportunity to buy postcards and photos at the end of the tour, proceeds from which go to the community projects in the area.

Can I buy anything on the Dharavi Slum Tour?

We don't sell or ask you to buy any products made by the residents of Dharavi Slum Tour. We don't want you to feel obliged to buy anything. If there is anything in particular that you find interesting on the tour, then, by all means, you can speak to the guide and he can help you buy it. There is also the opportunity to buy postcards and other merchandise at the end of the tour, proceeds from which go to community projects in the area.

Is it appropriate to bring small children on the Dharavi Slum Tour?

There are health hazards highlighted above which parents of children need to be aware of. Otherwise, we see no problem with bringing children of any age on the Dharavi Slum Tour. Indians are very welcoming and receptive to young people.

I don't like going on organised tours. Is it possible to visit Dharavi on my own?

Yes, it is possible to visit Dharavi Slum Tour on your own, and in our opinion it is safe to do so. However you will not know the best places to go, the area is like a maze and you will not gain the same insight as with one of our guides.

I want to do a Dharavi Tour and another tour on the same day, Is this advisable?

Absolutely! Our tour timings were decided with this in mind. The Market Tour fits nicely with our Dharavi Tour and Family Lunch and the evening Street Food Tour fits perfectly with an afternoon Dharavi Tour.

It should be possible to go for Dharavi Tour Mumbai even while the development (which would take several years) takes place.

The Dharavi Slum Tour with Car Transport seems very long. Why is this?

For the "with car transfer" option, the total time is approximately 4.5 hours. This includes transport to Dharavi and back from our office in Colaba, or to and from your hotel. For people staying in Colaba, if you were to catch the train/taxi to Dharavi from Colaba, the transport time would be approximately 50 mins to an hour each way, so the total time to do the Dharavi Slum Tour and the Dharavi Tour with Car Transfer is approximately the same.

How is the private tour with car transfer different from the shared version?

On the shared version, you will need to meet outside our office in Colaba at the stipulated time. On the private tour with car transfer, other visitors will not come on the tour with you and we will come to your hotel or residence to pick you up and drop you back. The Dharavi Slum Tour is more flexible as well to what you want to see. Since we pass by areas of interest between Colaba and Dharavi, to get the most out of the private tour, it is best to start from Colaba, Fort, or Marine Drive. For people staying in other parts of Mumbai who wish to do the Dharavi Tour private tour with transport (and hence be picked up from their hotel), we can advise on what will and will not be included in the tour depending on the location of your hotel.

I want to do a slum and sightseeing tour in a group with other people. Is this possible?

Unfortunately, the slum and sightseeing tour is a private tour only.

Where is Dharavi?

Dharavi is situated between Mahim and Sion - two areas at the northern tip of South Mumbai, just before the suburbs commence (Bandra and Kurla). It is sandwiched between the Western and Central Railway lines. It is about 10km south of the International Airport and 18km north of Colaba.

I am staying in Colaba. Where should I meet for the short tour?

The easiest place to meet the guide is at Churchgate station- this is a 15-20 minute walk from Colaba.

I am staying near the airport/Juhu/Bandra. Should I do the Dharavi Slum Tour with Car Transport?

As you are staying north of Dharavi, it would make the most sense to do the regular Dharavi Tour and meet us directly at Mahim Station.  If you would like car transport then a private tour with car transport would be a good option. This way we could pick you up directly at your hotel. But please note that only the Dharavi part of the trip would be covered (ie. you would not see the red-light area and open-air laundry). There would also be an additional charge to cover the extra distance that our car would have to come. If you wish to do a private tour with car transport and also see the other parts of the tour such as the red-light area and the open-air laundry, then contact us and we will try to arrange something.   If you would still like to do the shared Dharavi Slum Tour with Car Transport, you will need to be at our office at 8.30 am. It will take about 80 minutes/80 minutes/60 minutes to reach by taxi so it would be an early start! If you still wish to go, then you might con

I am meeting you at Dharavi. How long does it take to get there?

FROM COLABA:  - By train: it is a 15-20 minute walk to Churchgate station and then it takes approximately 45 minutes to buy the ticket and catch a "slow train" to Dharavi (Mahim Junction). - By taxi: By taxi, it takes about 50 minutes to an hour (cost approximately Rs 200) FROM AIRPORT AREA:   - By train: it is a 15-20 minute walk to Churchgate station and then it takes approximately 45 minutes to buy the ticket and catch a "slow train" to Dharavi (Mahim Junction).  - By taxi: it takes about 35 minutes in the afternoon, and 50 minutes in the morning. Cost: approximately Rs 100. (note: by auto-rickshaw not possible) FROM JUHU:  - By train: you need to go to Vile Parle or Santa Cruz Station and catch a "slow train" to Mahim Junction. Total time approx 30 mins. - By taxi: it takes about 35 minutes in the afternoon, and 50 minutes in the morning. Cost: approximately Rs 100 (note: by auto-rickshaw not possible)
