What is Jet Ski Touring?

Are jet skis good for touring.

This is why more and more jet ski rentals offer long jet ski tours, which can last a few hours or even an entire day.

Are you wondering how to prepare for a jet ski tour?

How do you Prepare for a Jet Ski Tour?

  • Find a riding buddy
  • Plan your route
  • Check the weather forecast
  • Inspect and prepare your ski
  • Get in shape

Find a Riding Buddy

Covering long distances on a jet ski can be dangerous in many ways, especially if you go offshore.

You never know when you will need help because of an unforeseen problem occurring. For example, if your jet ski breaks down, your buddy can tow you back to shore. Keeping safety in mind, never go on a long trip alone!

Plan Your Route

Before you leave on a jet ski tour, it’s recommended that you carefully plan your route. You should pick your final destination and when you want to arrive.

If you cannot take all the necessary fuel with you, you must also consider where the fuel docks are.

Once you have your route planned, you’ll want to share it with your family members or friends for safety reasons.

Check the Weather Forecast

Nothing destroys a jet ski tour quite like bad weather. Although it’s possible to jet ski in the rain , riding in a storm or even lighting is neither pleasant nor safe.

Cold foggy weather can also decrease comfort and cause poor visibility.

To avoid these situations, checking the weather forecast should always be part of your preparation.

It’s also wise to keep an eye on the weather report along the trip. If you see that you’re facing unforeseen weather conditions, you can take a break or re-plan your trip.

Inspect and Prepare Your Ski

Keeping your jet ski properly maintained is essential for a successful tour.

You should prepare the machine upfront for the trip; fill up with gas and engine fluids and check all the systems and accessories to make sure they all work.

If you haven’t used the ski in a while, it’s wise to take it for a quick test trip to make sure that it works perfectly. If you notice any malfunctions, take care of them before the tour.

If you’re planning a multi-day jet ski tour, don’t forget to do the pre-ride and after-ride check every day.

Besides the ski, you also have to prepare your body for the tour. If you’re getting out of shape, maybe it’s time to hit the gym and do some exercise.

Long jet ski tours are tiring and require a lot of bodywork so keep yourself healthy and get enough sleep before the big day.

Pay attention to what you eat as well, since low blood sugar can decrease your focus and cause other problems.

You should also stay hydrated since dehydration negatively affects physiological processes.

Don’t forget to stop and take a break when you feel tired to get your strength back. Know your limits and do not exceed them.

Last but not least, you have to pick and pack the gear you will need out there. Let’s talk about the essential gear you will need for a jet ski tour!

What do You Need for a Jet Ski Tour?

  • Proper gear
  • Navigation and safety equipment
  • Food and drink
  • Dry box or bag

Riding Gear

  • USCG-approved life jacket
  • Face protection (mask, cap, helmet )
  • Eye protection
  • Wet or dry suit
  • Shoes or boots

Besides this gear, it’s wise to carry a small and large towel plus an extra set of dry clothes stored in a dry place.

Navigation and Safety Equipment

General wisdom says that you shouldn’t start your jet ski tour without proper navigation and safety equipment.

A smartphone and a GPS are barely the minimum, and make sure that you download all the maps you will need. Some flagship jet skis come with an advanced GPS, allowing you to share your planned route with your riding buddies.

If you are hesitent about which safety equipment you should carry on you, here’s our detailed list of the most important jet ski safety gear .

Food and Water

You should also pack an adequate amount of food and drink, but keeping yourself constantly hydrated can be challenging on a long tour.

This is where a camel backpack comes into play.

This backpack houses a camel bag and a hose with which you can drink from at any time, without stopping the ski. What’s more, it can carry some small snacks as well.

You can also store your food and drink in a storage unit on the ski, or in a dry bag.

Dry Box or Bag

When it comes to jet ski touring, best practice is to store your gear in a dry bag or box.

Today most manufacturers offer innovative attachment systems with which you can attach racks and other storage units to your ski.

For example, the Yamaha RecDeck system includes a removable rear platform extension and an optional rack. The latter can accommodate a cooler, store boxes, dry bags, or even fuel cans.

In contrast, Sea-Doos come with LinQ connection cleats , which are planted into the rear platform. You can connect various purpose-built LinQ accessories directly to these connectors.

If you have an older ski that lacks these innovative systems, you can still install a regular fishing rack on its rear platform.

But if you don’t want to invest in one, you can even secure your gear onto the rear platform with straps. However, note that it’s the most inconvenient and least secure way to carry gear on a jet ski.

Using regular straps increases the risk that your cargo will fall into the water, especially in rough water conditions.

This is why you should store all of your gear in dry bags or a PWC cargo trailer , which can keep water out.

If you want to go for a long jet ski tour, you will probably have to carry extra fuel on you.

Today’s sit-down jet skis come with very large fuel tanks and get great fuel mileage , but you can’t burn all of the fuel for safety reasons!

There are many ways to carry extra fuel on a jet ski, but the most common is arguably by carrying fuel cans on the rear platform.

You can plant them into a rack, attach them with LinQ connectors (if featured), or just strap them securely onto the rear platform.

If you are considering touring with your ski regularly, you should consider investing in a larger internal tank or an auxiliary fuel tank.

It is very important that you not store fuel in the storage compartments of the jet ski since the gas vapors can cause an explosion !

  • Never ride alone
  • Plan your route and share it with your family/friends
  • Check the weather forecast (upfront and on the way)
  • Prepare the ski
  • Prepare yourself as well
  • Wear the right gear (wetsuit, goggles, protectors, etc.)
  • Use navigation equipment
  • Carry safety gear (and know how to use them)
  • Take two towels and a set of dry clothes with you
  • Store your gear in a dry bag or box
  • Carry extra fuel (in cans or an auxiliary fuel tank)
  • Pack food and water, no matter how far you go

If you wish to stay on the water Many lake locations for jet skiing trips feature houseboat rentals. Renting a houseboat offers the chance to spend your vacation living, sleeping, and playing on the water.

Wildlife patterns

If you hope to see your favorite wildlife at your destination, be sure to look into its seasonal and daytime habits for the best chance to see them up close.

Other activities available

Your choice of jet ski destination will vary based on what you like to do with the rest of your time. Whether you are looking for serene and quiet relaxation or to spend the nights dancing in the clubs, there is a jet ski vacation that will suit you.

Safety Guidelines

Safety Guidelines

Jet skiing adventures are fun ways to work out the body, relax the mind and explore the wonders of nature. They are still very high-powered and heavy machines that we use on bodies of water that can be dangerous. To keep the fun going, always stay safe when riding and take safety precautions for yourself, others, and local wildlife.

Never forget safety gear

As hot as the weather can be in some of these beautiful jet ski destinations, never be tempted to drop the safety gear. A life jacket is non-negotiable no matter how advanced your swimming skills are. Accidents can happen quickly and injury can prevent you from swimming. Protect your skin by reapplying sunscreen regularly, as once in the morning will not be enough.

Always check your gas tank

It may sound a little obvious, but this simple habit can save you many frustrated and potentially dangerous hours on the water if you run out of gas. Make it a habit to always check your gas level before setting off, even if somebody else says that it is taken care of. After all, if you run out of gas on the water, they won't be the ones getting stuck!

Spark plugs

As they spend so much time around the water, jet ski spark plugs are prone to rust and can affect the performance of your engine. You can help to avoid vacation disappointments by starting your day with mechanical problems by checking your spark plugs for rust before your trip.

Environmental responsibility

Environmental responsibility

Waterports, particularly with our motorized toys, come with some environmental factors to consider. Aside from the potential carbon emissions of using an abundance of gasoline, we need to ensure that we preserve these natural wonder spots for the future.

When we jet ski, we share the water space with marine life. These plants, animals, and birds make these beautiful destinations what they are and are vital to the ecosystems of our waterways. When we jet ski in these waters, we must do everything we can to protect marine life and water quality for generations to come.

Consider an electric jet ski

Innovations in watersports technology are moving fast. Many eco-conscious manufacturers and rental companies offer electric jet skis as an alternative option. Aside from not using fossil fuels, electric jet skis are quieter than gas alternatives which cause less distress for marine animals and birds in the area.

Take care when refueling

A lot of avoidable environmental damage occurs by simple carelessness with fuel. Spilled gasoline can kill both marine plant and animal life. By carefully refueling your jet ski to avoid unnecessary spillage we can save pollution from avoidable accidents.

  • Fill up your jet ski on land whenever possible
  • Overfilling the tank can lead to spillage
  • Use a spill-proof nozzle if you need to fill up while on the water
  • Be prepared with absorbent pads just in case of any spillage

Jet skiing offers the ultimate outdoor fun for your vacation. With physical exercise, mental health benefits, beautiful scenery, and a chance to play in nature.

Each of these beautiful destinations is an opportunity to have fun riding and take in some of the most breathtaking views in the country.

Seeing these unique places from the water gives you an up close and personal experience with nature that you won't get from taking a boat or walking tour.

Making It Happen

Although travel guides inspire us with ideas about what is possible for our next adventure, it is vital not to get stuck in a "one-day," mentality. The feelings of freedom, serenity, and playfulness of a jet skiing trip

Hey there, fellow beach lovers! I’m a 41-year-old dude who’s absolutely infatuated with the beach, and I split my time between the Hamptons and Brooklyn Heights in New York City. Let’s not forget my trusty sidekick, Gabe, my Standard Poodle. He’s a paw-some buddy, and together we hit the beach every single evening, rain or shine, summer or winter. It’s our thing, you know?

The Best Places to Jet Ski in the U.S: A 2024 Roundup

Avatar photo

Have you ever had the opportunity to hop on a jet ski and bounce rhythmically along the water as the wind blows through your hair? It’s one of the best feelings in the world, and once you pick up jet skiing as a hobby, don’t be surprised if you never go back to life without it!

While jet skiing in and of itself never gets old, exploring the same bodies of water can.

If you are itching to ride new waves, all it takes is a little exploration to find locations where jet skiing isn’t just welcomed–but encouraged.

To help you out, here are the 5 best jet ski locales in the US.

The Top Jet Skiing Hotspots Across the U.S.

#5: lake placid, adirondack mountains, new york.

Address: 1002 Adirondack Loj Rd, Lake Placid, NY 12946

As part of a village located in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, Lake Placid is surrounded by mountainous land. The area is so breathtaking that you’ll be convinced you’re staring at a painting.

Lake Placid is a smaller jet ski location, which makes it less intimidating to novice jet skiers. At four miles long and less than two miles wide , you won’t be able to travel in the same direction for as long a distance as more spacious jet ski locations. But if you’re looking for a tranquil atmosphere and a beginner-friendly area, Lake Placid is calling your name.

Jet Ski Rental Opportunities at Lake Placid:

  • Adirondack Personal Watercraft : $505+
  • Invert Sports : $1,413+

How Neighbor is changing storage

#4: Lake Travis, Austin, Texas

Address: 4370 Mansfield Dam Park Rd., Austin, TX 78732

Located about 20 miles outside of Austin, Texas, Lake Travis is applauded for its scenic views that span a total of 63.75 miles, especially the tucked-away coves.

The 18,929-acre lake is suitable for beginners and experienced jet skiers alike. But the natural beauty isn’t just above the water! If you take a moment to peek beneath the surface of the waves, you will spot all kinds of fish swimming in the waters below.

Jet Ski Opportunities at Lake Travis:

  • Lakeway Marina : $125+
  • Luxury Boat Rentals : $90+

#3: New York Harbor, Hudson River, New York

Address: Brooklyn, New York 11201

Still wondering where to go jet skiing? Well, for something outside your norm, New York City offers guided jet ski tours of the New York Harbor . From the comfort of a jet ski, you can take in the stunning views of sky-high buildings and modern-day architecture while learning about the city’s history.

Not only is this an ideal activity for tourists familiarizing themselves with NYC for the first time, but it’s also idyllic for anyone who wants to try out a jet ski without owning one.

Various types of jet skis can cost thousands of dollars, making them quite an investment , whereas tours are a less expensive way to jet ski.

Jet Ski Opportunities in the Hudson River:

  • Sea the City : $151+
  • New York City Jetski : $150+

#2: Lake Ouachita, Arkansas

Address: 1424 Blakely Dam Rd, Royal, AR 71968

When you think of the perfect place to jet ski, it’s understandable if your mind jumps to coastal towns or cities. But the beauty of the United States is its vast diversity, which includes landlocked states with areas suitable for jet skiing!

Lake Ouachita in Arkansas is a prime example of a place where jet skiers can venture out into deep blue waters from somewhere in the south. You’ll parade through calm waters surrounded by the lush greenery of the Ouachita National Forest. Thanks to the 93 different campsites available to guests, you can even plan to stay awhile.

Why not pack your suitcase, hitch your jet ski to a trailer, and travel to Lake Ouachita for a relaxing getaway? It’s a safe and serene environment where you can jet ski and sit on the water as bream, crappie, and bass fish swim underneath.

Jet Ski Opportunities at Lake Ouachita:

  • Wake Zone Jet Ski Rentals : $115+
  • Dreamchaser Houseboat and Water Toy Rentals : $180+

#1: Miami Beach, Florida

Address: 1410 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

As a peninsula, the state of Florida is almost entirely surrounded by water. With Miami near the southeasternmost part of Florida, residents and visitors alike have seemingly endless access to water, specifically the Atlantic Ocean. That’s what makes Miami Beach, Florida , an ideal location for those who love to jet ski.

Jet skiing is a popular attraction in Miami, but it’s important to understand the requirements. For starters, you must be 14 years or older to ride a jet ski. As long as they have the proper boater education (and are accompanied by a licensed and adult-aged boater), 14-year-old riders are capable of operating a jet ski.

If unsupervised, you’ll need to be at least 18 years old to operate a jet ski.

Jet Ski Opportunities in Miami Beach:

  • Miami Jet Skis Adventure : $85+
  • Miami Jet Ski Tours : $139+
  • Miami Watersports Jet Ski Rides : $29+
  • Ride the Waves Jet Ski Tours : $94+
  • Miami Waterlife Tours : $160+

If you plan to tow your jet ski to one of these must-visit locations in the U.S., you’ll need a place to store your PWC in between excursions and during the off-season . For those who own a jet ski, storing your personal watercraft in a covered and enclosed space is vital.

In doing so, you will lower the chances of your jet ski sustaining weather-induced risks, including rust, corrosion, and mechanical wear caused by exposure to UV rays, rain, or moisture. Not only that, but keeping your jet ski safe is a crucial deterrent against the likelihood of theft.

If you have limited garage space, consider looking into Neighbor’s options for jet ski storage . As a vehicle storage marketplace, peer-to-peer storage solutions like Neighbor can offer you a safe, local, and budget-friendly space to store your jet ski.

To truly see San Diego , you'll have to view it from both land and sea. The following companies offer opportunities to see the city's aquatic sights for yourself or take part in a guided tour from aboard a personal watercraft like a Jet Ski or WaveRunner. Cruise through San Diego Bay to enjoy views of the city skyline, or take a thrilling ride through beautiful Mission Bay or along the La Jolla coast in the Pacific Ocean. U.S. News reviewed both expert input and traveler opinion to compile this list of the best Jet Ski rental companies and tour operators in San Diego.

To rent a personal watercraft, most companies require that you are at least 18 years old and have a valid photo ID. You can also choose to get a California Boater Card , a certification that proves the holder has taken a boater safety course. While the card is optional for operating a rental, the course could be helpful if you've never operated a Jet Ski or WaveRunner.

San Diego Bay Adventures

Discover San Diego Bay aboard a personal watercraft with a rental from San Diego Bay Adventures. The company provides a WaveRunner, a life jacket and a wetsuit, if you'd like one. Before you ride, you'll receive operating instructions. There is a maximum of two riders per craft. The company recommends you wear swimwear for your ride. During your adventure, you may spot sea lions. You can also cruise past top sights like the USS Midway , the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, the Star of India ship and the Hotel del Coronado . Rental rates (which include fuel) start at $99 for 75 minutes, while two-hour rentals start at $169. You are not accompanied by a guide during your rental period. Rentals are available every day except Wednesday at 9 and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.; there are also additional slots at 1 and 5 p.m. for the 75-minute rental. Reviewers say the staff are friendly and informative, adding that they provide top-notch service. San Diego Bay Adventures also rents paddleboards and kayaks.

Mission Bay Sportcenter

At Mission Bay Sportcenter, you can rent a personal watercraft on your own or take one of the company's guided tours. Aboard the WaveRunner, you can cruise through Mission Bay, going past attractions like SeaWorld San Diego , Mission Bay Aquatic Center and numerous hotels and resorts . Alternately, you can take a guided personal watercraft tour of Mission Bay to San Diego Bay (or vice versa) to view the San Diego waterfront, drive past the San Diego-Coronado Bridge and zip along the shores of La Jolla. The two-hour guided tours start at $199 per person and require a minimum of four participants. Riders say staff are informative and provide good instructions about operating the personal watercraft. Reviewers also advise that you may want to make a reservation in advance, especially during busy times. Rentals are available daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each WaveRunner can accommodate up to two people, and rental rates start at $95 for one hour. The company requests you arrive 30 minutes prior to your start time to complete the rental agreement and training. Know that parking is limited. Mission Bay Sportcenter also rents pontoon boats, sailboats, kayaks and paddleboards.

Action Sport Rentals

Enjoy a WaveRunner outing in either San Diego Bay or Mission Bay with Action Sport Rentals. The company offers one- and two-hour Yamaha WaveRunner rentals for $110 and $200, respectively. Fees include use of wetsuits and life jackets. Three riders can ride a WaveRunner at a time; however, they must be at least 3 feet tall and cannot exceed a combined weight of 450 pounds. Action Sport Rentals has four locations: Paradise Point Resort & Spa , Kona Kai Resort & Spa , San Diego Mission Bay Resort and Loews Coronado Bay Resort . Rentals are available daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Riders describe the company's employees as friendly, helpful and focused on safety. They also say that the experience is fun. Action Sport Rentals offers kayak, surfboard, FunCat and boat rentals as well.

Located at Harbor Island in downtown San Diego, Luxury Jet Ski Rentals offers Sea-Doo models for up to two riders that start at $69 per hour. Drivers must be 18 or older, while riders need to be at least 10 years old. Rentals are available daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and no security deposit is required. Riders can explore San Diego Bay and some of its sights, including Shelter Island, the San Diego Navy Base, Seaport Village and Coronado Island , though there is no accompanying tour guide. Reviewers recommend Luxury Jet Ski Rentals, noting the company's quality service and equipment. The company also rents boats, paddleboards and kayaks, among other equipment.

SD Adventures

Hop aboard a Yamaha WaveRunner and explore San Diego Bay on your own or with one other person as your passenger. The company offers 75-minute rentals that start at $99 per hour and are available Friday through Monday from about 9 a.m. to about 3 p.m. Wetsuits are available for an additional fee. The company recommends arriving around 30 minutes before your scheduled departure. In San Diego Bay, you can see seals, sea lions and dolphins, among other wildlife, as well as sights like the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, Point Loma and Shelter Island. Renters recommend SD Adventures, noting great watercraft and fantastic views. Others say they encountered poor customer service. SD Adventures also offers boat, kayak and paddleboard rentals.

Rent a personal watercraft from Coronado Island, Mission Bay or downtown San Diego with Seaforth Boat Rentals. Their watercrafts can hold up to two passengers and start at $75 for one hour and $115 for two hours. Renters must be at least 21 years old, while drivers must be 18 or older. How to Jet Ski from Miami to the Bahamas (2022)

Jet Ski To The Bahamas

It’s the dream of many to ride a jet ski to another country such as the Bahamas. Consider it an international expedition with a jet ski. The best part is that you don’t need to travel far from Miami.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: COVID-19 Restrictions mean that current information changes frequently. What was written 5 minutes ago may not be relevant now. It’s best to refer to government websites and media outlets in both countries before planning.

In normal times, you can easily travel by jet ski from Miami to the Bahamas in a day trip, but it will require some preparation. I’ll show you how (assuming we’re not in a Pandemic) in this detailed guide.

Long Distance Jet Ski Touring Bahamas From Miami

Let’s jump straight into it!

Preparing Your Jet Ski for The Bahamas

It all really comes in the planning stages. I’d recommend that you do the following:

Jet Ski To The Bahamas From Florida

  • Pack your passport! You will need it to get past customs on both ends. Some people forget that it has to have a few months worth of expiry left.
  • Exchange your US dollars into Bahamian dollar before you leave home. It’s harder to exchange dollars at most places, plus some places aren’t authorized to change money either.
  • Make sure your jet ski has had a recent service and is fully clean with no leaks. It’s
  • Check the weather! This can make the difference between fun and frustration.
  • Fuel up your jet ski to the very top plus check your oil levels too.
  • Double-check you have everything, including at least 5 litres of fresh drinking water.
  • Ask a buddy to join you , as riding a jet ski to the Bahamas is lonely to do solo. There are group rides that open to the public leaving Miami every weekend, as long as the weather is great!

It really doesn’t take that much more than a normal day of riding, apart from some additional preparation. The biggest one, of course, is the passport that you’ll need to pack in a dry bag. I know several riders who got their passports wet when riding, so don’t avoid that mistake.

Setting a Route to The Bahamas

There are multiple ways to travel by jet ski from Miami to the Bahamas.

Here are 3 routes that are quite popular:

  • Fort Lauderdale to Freeport (the longest route)
  • Miami to Bimini which only takes 1.5 hours by jet ski
  • Fort Lauderdale to Bimini (quite a popular route)

These are the more popular tourist spots. If you want something a little quieter, then there are numerous spots you can find but you’ll still need to clear customs at either Bimini or Freeport before going to have a picnic or stay overnight.

Returning to the United States

On the return to the United States, expect to be questioned by Customs as to what you were doing away. This is because they are very security-conscious about people doing the wrong thing between countries. You know what I mean.

I would advise that you aim to return long before sunrise. You or someone else might have a mechanical issue on the return which could require towing. Trust me: the extra sunshine hours will come in helpful.

The other issue is that often the boat ramp is busy in the late afternoon. Retrieving a jet ski at nighttime is a riskier process and it’s also not that fun being bitten by insects at the boat ramp.

Riding a personal watercraft to the Bahamas and back in a day is great fun! You can also combine it with jet ski camping or simply stay at one of the many beach-side huts. Their 24/7 security can mind your jet ski while you’re sleeping, or you can buy a PWC lock or set an alarm system.

How To Jet Ski From Miami To The Bahamas Infographic

Group riding is so much fun and often there is a support boat to carry extra gas. I do know of several people who have done it solo but it is riskier.

Either way, have fun and stay safe!

We want to go from Miami to say the USVI by jet ski. We have an extensive equipment list, plan on using Airbnb and VRBO. We are concerned with getting fuel and docking over night

When I’m not out there riding, I’m engaging with industry trends and eagerly helping people get more time-freedom online so they can spend more time out there riding their jet skis around.

Have a question that's not answered here? Submit your question(s) via our contact form below.

  • How long does it take to get to Catalina Island? This usually depends upon conditions, how much time we spend playing with the dolphins, and how much time we spend at the Blue Caverns swimming before we head into the beach. It is approximately a 2 hr ride from the time we leave Long Beach to the time we arrive at the island.
  • Can 2 people ride on 1 jetski? Our Seadoo's can handle 2 riders in the ocean. For comfort, we highly recommend one rider per ski. For Families with children, passengers can ride as long as they are over 12 years old. The total weight capacity is 400lbs.
  • What is the age requirement for this trip? To operate a jetski on your own, you must be 16 yrs old. Passengers may ride behind an adult if they are over 12 years old. This is an extreme outdoor adventure and is not friendly for children.
  • How intense is the trip? Depending on the time of year, and ocean conditions, this adventure can be smooth sailing, but many times, especially during summertime, the ocean conditions can get rough, and one MUST have a sense of adventure and confidence when riding. If you do not have an outgoing sense of adventure in you, do NOT book this trip. You may want to consider one of our local coastline adventures instead.
  • What type of watercraft do we ride? Our fleet of watercraft are custom-built skis by Seadoo. They are very stable, quiet and provide a wonderful ride in the ocean environment. As an added bonus, they are low emission eco-friendly vessels.
  • When is the best time to go? We run Jetski2Catalina Adventure year-round. The ocean is an amazing place, and depending on the time of year you travel with us to the island, you will see different marine life, experience different conditions. We provide each of our guests with a wetsuit and vest, so our riders are seldom cold. The water temperature remains in the upper 60's all thru the spring and fall, so snorkeling is still an option during these months.
  • What is provided for guests on the trip? We provide all the equipment you will need: Jetski, Fuel, Wetsuit, Safety equipment, snorkeling gear, pictures and guides, and all the on-water activities, including swimming thru the world-famous Blue Caverns. You simply show up and let us do all the work.
  • What should I bring along on the trip? We recommend you bring lunch, bottled water, sunscreen, water shoes or sandals, extra t-shirt/sweatshirt. It is also recommended you bring along a snack (granola bar, fruit snacks, etc) as most guests like to relax on their skis when we stop to rest and have a bite to eat.
  • What if weather is bad? Do we still go? We monitor NOAA weather up until the moment we leave and continue to do so while on the ride. If your guide is not comfortable with any weather conditions he may cancel or delay the trip until it is safe for the journey.
  • I would like to snorkel. Do you provide the equipment? Each of our skis is equipped with a mask and snorkel. We do not provide fins. If you would like to bring fins, please make sure they are the short style as the full-size fin will not fit in the storage compartments. If you would like to bring along your own snorkeling equipment, that is fine as well.
  • Where do we eat? Our destination on the island is a beautiful secluded beach. We highly recommend you bring lunch and drinks for the day. Think "Beach Day". If you would prefer to eat at the restaurant on the island, it is a 15 min hike to get there. You can pack (2) backpacks per jetski to carry your food and clothes. Remember, certain foods do not survive bouncing in the ski. Pack all food well to make sure it survives the trip over.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

jet ski travel

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

jet ski travel

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

jet ski travel

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

jet ski travel

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

jet ski travel

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

jet ski travel

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

jet ski travel

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
