Proudly independent and unapologetically Southern, country duo Muscadine Bloodline find their true voice on their upcoming new album, Dispatch to 16th Ave. Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton grew up in Mobile, Alabama, but didn’t cross paths until they each started to pursue their musical dreams. In 2012, they forged a friendship when Stanton opened a show for Muncaster’s band at Soul Kitchen in Mobile. Charlie’s contemporary vocals complimented by Gary’s harmonies and masterful guitar licks showcase a powerfully refreshing mix of talent, passion and unfiltered authenticity. Since naming themselves Muscadine Bloodline in 2015, they’ve had two Billboard-charting critically-acclaimed EP’s, have sold out shows across the country, opened concerts for hundreds of artists and earned a standing ovation at their Grand Ole Opry debut in 2018. The guys’ Southern roots carry over to their band name as well: Muscadine grapes grow in the South while Bloodline represents their heritage. For more information visit muscadinebloodline.com.

Muscadine Bloodline Stayed Off the Road to ‘Create the Demand.’ The Country Duo Finally Return on New Tour
By Jon Freeman
Jon Freeman
Muscadine Bloodline know their fans have some expectations of the duo’s live shows. There are certain crowd-pleasing numbers they don’t dare omit.
“We have some diehards we’ve built over the last few years,” lead guitarist and vocalist Gary Stanton says. “If we don’t play ‘Porch Swing Angel’ at the end of the night, people are gonna riot.”
While that beloved 2016 single will undoubtedly make the set list, the duo of Stanton and singer-guitarist Charlie Muncaster still have some time to figure out the rest. Their Countryband Contraband Tour, which was announced Monday morning, will keep them busy through most of summer in venues like Knoxville’s Bijou Theatre and Chicago’s popular Joe’s Bar. It also comes after a rare break from the road, partially due to the pandemic and partially a conscious decision on their part, during which the duo got to focus on recording and spend time at home.
“Our motto’s been: create the demand, build the demand,” Muncaster says. “It’s amazing what happens when you say ‘no’ to some shows and stay out of people’s faces for a little while — they really start to miss you and there’s a lot of excitement that can be brought on the next time you go out.”
When they return to the road on June 3 in Phenix City, Alabama, Muscadine Bloodline will have plenty of new material to go along with the fan favorites. They released their latest album Dispatch to 16th Ave. in February and the project represents Muncaster and Stanton’s decision to focus on their classic country influences and not worry too much about what might work on radio.
“We’ve had an identity crisis of who we are and how we want to be represented,” Stanton says. “We kept going back to the stuff we love and what we like to do instead of that juxtaposition of being in Nashville, like, ‘Does this fit in a format?’ We were like, ‘We’re an independent band’ — let’s go with the mindset of, we just want to do this how we want to do this. This was the first record we’ve really done that. It was a stepping out, leap of faith.”
Editor’s picks
Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.
Dispatch to 16th Ave. stays true to that mindset, ranging from the blistering honky-tonk of “Dyin’ for a Livin’” — from which the new tour derives its name — to the stone-country balladry of “No, Pedal Steel.” Muncaster and Stanton’s signature tight harmonies are accented by knotty, twangy bursts of electric guitar, and the nine songs play like a continuous whole with outros and intros that bleed together.
“It was like, this would be cool if people consumed it as a record,” Stanton says. “It’s the opposite of what everyone tells you to do, business-wise. It’s not the smartest decision with everyone’s attention spans being five seconds. Like, let’s give them a record that’s like dropping a needle and letting it go.”
The jury’s still out on whether they’ll just play the album straight through on their summer tour, but they’re considering it.
“We’ve had the same conversation,” Muncaster says. “We’ve love to play the record front to back. I’m not a hundred percent decided on that yet.”
But at just over 30 minutes, the entirey of Dispatch to 16th Ave. wouldn’t eat up much of their set time — which would still leave plenty of room for “Porch Swing Angel.”

The sound was a bit blown out in the small space. Hurt my ears at times when it got super loud. I think it was mostly just the venue. They put on a great show though!

BY PHILL BARNETT MOUNTAIN CITIZEN
PRESTONSBURG – Eastern Kentucky’s favorite folk-rock duo Sundy Best and Alabama country duo Muscadine Bloodline announced a series of tour dates together on social media Wednesday as part of Muscadine Bloodline’s Countryband Contraband Tour.
Sundy Best is an acclaimed country/folk-rock duo comprised of Nicholas Jamerson and Kristofer Lee Bentley of Prestonsburg.
The two groups will play 8 shows across the south and midwest in August, September, and October of 2022.
This will be the first time Sundy Best has gone on tour since 2018. Since their reunion in 2020, the duo has played mostly festivals, pop-ups, and one-off shows. This go around, the pair has taken a more laid back and organic approach to reaching their audience.
This tour support will provide Sundy Best with the perfect opportunity to dip their toes back into the world of being on the road again.

Who Are Muscadine Bloodline? 5 Things You Need to Know
When Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton were growing up in Mobile, Ala., they didn't know each other -- so they never would have guessed that they would one day move to Nashville, form Muscadine Bloodline and release a self-titled EP under the tutelage of famed producer Luke Laird. These days, though, the Southern rock-meets-country duo is beginning to make waves in Nashville.
With the release of their Muscadine Bloodline EP on Jan. 20, Muncaster and Stanton unveiled their refreshing blend of Southern rock and romantic country. While tunes such as "WD-40" put a new spin on traditional love songs (turns out, duct tape, WD-40 and love are all you really need to fix anything!), tracks such as "CB Radio" and "Crickets and Cane Poles" point back to the nostalgia of growing up and finding hope in unexpected places.
But while their subject matter is diverse, the common thread in all of Muscadine Bloodline's music is thoughtful songwriting and impeccably polished harmonies. For two artists who got their start as solo musicians, Muncaster and Stanton have a chemistry that's obvious whether they're in the middle of an interview or performing onstage.
Muscadine Bloodline is currently available on iTunes , and fans can visit the duo's official website to learn more about upcoming shows. Click through the photo gallery above to learn a few fun facts about the rising stars.

WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Cody Rhodes, Logan Paul set for showdown at King and Queen of the Ring
Smackdown also featured new development with the bloodline and six tournament opening rounds.
A champ vs. champ matchup is set for WWE King and Queen of the Ring. SmackDown set the stage for undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes vs. United States champion Logan Paul with both of their titles at stake.
Rhodes and Paul each have something to prove in Saudi Arabia on May 25. Winning a world championship would elevate Paul and add to his claim as the greatest celebrity-turned-professional wrestler. For Rhodes, becoming champ-champ would make him the 31st Grand Slam champion in promotional history. Under the modern criteria, a Grand Slam requires one world championship, one tag team title and both secondary belts. Rhodes is a former intercontinental champ but has never held the U.S. title.
SmackDown also featured an interesting update in the Solo Sikoa era of The Bloodline, plus six combined matchups in Round 1 of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments.
CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Champ vs. Champ set, Sikoa takes full control of The Bloodline
SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis wasted no time introducing Rhodes' next undisputed WWE title challenger. Paul's arrival was greeted by loud jeers and chants of "Logan sucks!" Paul bragged about being the longest-reigning active champion in the WWE. Rhodes credited Paul for being more than the "dumbass" people perceive him to be but said he'd fact-check him at King and Queen of the Ring. Rhodes said winning the U.S. championship would make him a Grand Slam champion in the WWE. Rhodes ran down Paul as delusional, among other things, before exiting the ring.
Backstage, Solo Sikoa confronted Paul Heyman. Sikoa criticized Heyman for going into business by himself and removing Roman Reigns from the WWE Draft. The decision resulted in The Bloodline being drafted later, damaging the group's reputation. Sikoa asked Heyman if he was trying to diminish Sikoa's value. Sikoa pressed Heyman further, asking if he tried to send Jey Uso a discreet message for help when crossing paths with him last week. Sikoa revealed that he recently spoke with Reigns, unlike Heyman. Reigns has declared Sikoa as interim Tribal Chief, according to Sikoa, and Heyman now reports to him. Sikoa hugged Heyman.
WWE solved several issues by booking Rhodes vs. Paul for the Saudi Arabia show. There were no clear challengers for Rhodes or Paul, plus the champ vs. champ match freed room for more high-profile entries into the King of the Ring. It's likely Paul Levesque (Triple H), a former King of the Ring winner, is looking to restore the reputation of a tournament that once elevated superstars to the main event. Reigns allegedly giving Sikoa control of The Bloodline was a good development. Including Tama Tonga in the King of the Ring is a solid way to expand The Bloodline 2.0's presence on SmackDown. It was a quiet week for stories as SmackDown focused mostly on the six King and Queen of the Ring qualifiers. Still, the few story beats set good foundations. Grade: B+
What else happened on WWE SmackDown?
- Nia Jax def. Naomi via pinfall after hitting a Banzai Drop. Jax advances to the Queen of the Ring SmackDown quarterfinals.
- Carmelo Hayes def. Baron Corbin via pinfall with a small package. Hayes advances to the King of the Ring quarterfinals.
- Jade Cargill def. Piper Niven via pinfall after hitting Jaded. Cargill advances to the Queen of the Ring quarterfinals.
- Bianca Belair def. Candice LeRae via pinfall with a KOD. Belair advances to the Queen of the Ring quarterfinals.
- Tama Tonga def. Angelo Dawkins via pinfall after hitting a jumping reverse STO. Tonga advances to the King of the Ring quarterfinals.
- Randy Orton def. AJ Styles via pinfall courtesy of an RKO. Orton advances to the King of the Ring quarterfinals.
