Queen + Adam Lambert’s 150-minute career-spanning set list celebrates the band’s extraordinary back catalogue, lining up wall-to-wall immortal anthems like “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Somebody To Love” alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favourites. Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over.

As with last year’s UK and European dates, the 2023 North American tour will see Queen + Adam Lambert supported on stage by their regular band members, long-serving Queen keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren.

Having extensively toured over the last few years, the Rhapsody show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury’s majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger’s undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam’s vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all of which adds up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history. Read more on the story of The Rhapsody Tour so far, including the special performance opening the Platinum Jubilee concert with the late Queen herself tea cup tapping to the beat of “We Will Rock You” HERE .

TICKETS: Tickets will be available via a general onsale beginning Friday, March 31st at 10AM local time at LiveNation.com .

MORE ON TICKETS:

Queen + Adam Lambert appreciate that it is an enormous task to try and stop scalpers from taking advantage of fans wanting to purchase tickets for the tour. In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for The Rhapsody Tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.

Fans will still have protection against unforeseen circumstances. Those who purchase tickets and are no longer able to attend their show will be able to sell their tickets at the price they paid using a face value ticket exchange, including the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange – which is free to use for buyers and sellers. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available here .

Unfortunately, the states of NY, IL, and CO have laws in place which protect ticket scalpers – these laws prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets to face value exchanges only. For shows in these states, Queen + Adam Lambert strongly encourage fans to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges. More information can be found here , with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Queen + Adam Lambert Announce 2023 North American ‘Rhapsody’ Tour Dates

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Queen + Adam Lambert are bringing their Rhapsody Tour back to North America for their first shows on this side of the Atlantic since 2019. The tour kicks off Oct. 4 in Baltimore, Maryland, and wraps up Nov. 11 in Los Angeles, California.

“This tour has lots of new bells and lots of new whistles,” Queen guitarist Brian May tells Rolling Stone . “We’ve evolved as performers, I think. We’ve stepped up our game. We have better chemistry than ever. We understand each other better than ever, and we feel more free in the way that we interpret stuff. We’re very happy with it. There’s lots of new production and stuff we want to excite you with.”

The set will focus on Queen classics like “Another One Bites The Dust,” “Somebody to Love,” and “Radio Ga Ga.” But they sprinkled in deep cuts like “Tear It Up” and “A King of Magic” in Europe last year, and hope to keep doing that.

“This show has evolved since its been in America since we’ve taken it around the world,” adds drummer Roger Taylor. “It’s quite a different show in a way, while retaining all the big hits, which so many people want to hear.”

Ticket sales begin Friday, March 31. In an effort to keep prices low and reduce scalping, the band is going to utilize the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange, which makes it impossible to sell tickets for more than face value. “It’s an experiment,” says May. “We got sick of seeing our fans get ripped off by scalpers. We’re hoping this works out.”

Editor’s picks

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.

Queen + Adam Lambert first played together on the 2009 finale of American Idol. They began gigging together in 2012, and have stayed on the road consistently over the past decade. Filling in for Freddie Mercury was a daunting task at first for Lambert, but he’s grown very comfortable with the job over the years.

“I feel less anxiety now,” he says. “I’ve matured as a performer. I trust myself a bit more. I will say that when the movie [ Bohemian Rhapsody ] came out, we had all these new fans, and many of them were young, I felt this little pang of, ‘Oh, these are new fans that haven’t been to a show yet.’ I needed to prove myself again, which is good. It keeps me on my game.”

The 2018 movie was an enormous success that grossed $911 million and won four Academy Awards, including Best Actor for star Rami Malek. It ends at Live Aid in 1985, and there’s been scattered talk over the past few years of a sequel that would chronicle Mercury’s final years.

“We need a script,” says May. “That’s what it comes down to. It took us 12 years to get the script for Bohemian Rhapsody , and get the right team in place. I’m not anxious. I think if the right thing comes along, it might work. We have our wonderful producer, Graham King, on it. It’s a possibility. If the right planets align, it might happen.”

“He would be welcome,” adds Taylor. “But I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

At the moment, this next leg of the Rhapsody Tour is just 14 shows, but it’s very possible they’ll tack on more. “People are buying tickets,” says Lambert. “And hey, we like performing.”

Getting Around Queens

Most of the neighborhoods in Queens typically visited by tourists, like Astoria and Long Island City , are very walkable. This is one of the best ways to get around as it’s free and allows you to feel the beat of the borough!

Love cycling? Citi Bike stations are all over Queens, and offer a budget-friendly way to get around in an eco-friendly fashion that also allows you to see the sights.

In terms of public transportation, the best way to get around Queens is via subway, which gets you anywhere you may need to go for just $2.75 — no need to wait in traffic.

Additionally, Queens (and the rest of NYC) is connected via other public transportation options like buses and even ferries. While buses are operated by the MTA, just like the subway, you’ll want to download the NYC Ferry app to see schedules and buy tickets for the ferry.

Prefer a private car service? Uber and Lyft are plentiful in Queens, though do note that cabs tend to be much cheaper. You can hail a cab on many main streets, which is typically your cheapest option, or use an app like Arro or Curb to order one.

Driving? It’s much easier to find parking in Queens than it is in Manhattan, though you can always use the SpotHero website and app to snag super discounted parking spots. This is especially recommended if you end up driving into Manhattan, where finding parking is a nightmare.

Q: What are some fun facts about Queens?

Queens has a fascinating history. Here are some interesting facts you may not know about Queens:

1. The borough of Queens was actually named after a Queen. It got its name in honor of Queen Catherine of Braganza, the wife of King Charles II in England.

2. Steinway pianos have been produced in Astoria, Queens since 1853.

3. Both of New York City’s major airports, LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, are located in Queens.

4. The first European settlers in Queens were the Dutch, who colonized the area now known as Flushing. Speaking of Flushing, the neighborhood got its name from its former Dutch name “Vlissingen” which was shortened to “Vlishing” and eventually anglicized to “Flushing.”

5. Queens is home to Citi Field, where the New York Mets play.

For sports fans, you can catch a Mets game at Citi Field or tour the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where the US Open is held every year.

Q+AL North American Rhapsody Tour Approaches...

Queen + Adam Lambert Rhapsody Tour Approaches start of 23-date North America Tour

Opens Baltimore, MD, on October 4 with final shows in Los Angeles November 11 & 12

Includes special one-off headliner at Formula 1 Lenovo U.S. Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas, Austin, Texas, October 21

Having first launched their universally acclaimed Rhapsody Tour with 26 epic shows across North America during June & July 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert are taking their highly acclaimed production, now expanded and updated, back to where it first began.

Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and their exceptional frontman Adam Lambert are returning for a further spectacular North America run of sold-out shows which gets underway next week with its opening show Wednesday, October 4 in Baltimore.

Promising an “even more ambitious show”, the band’s 23-date US tour begins October 4 with the first of two shows at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena continuing throughout North America including stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and further cities before closing out with a pair of dates at Los Angeles’s BMO Stadium November 11 and 12. In addition, the band will perform a special one-off headliner on October 21 at the Formula 1 Lenovo U.S. Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas, Austin, Texas. See full routing below.

Brian May says, “We’re still calling our show The Rhapsody Tour, but the content has evolved massively from when you last saw it. New toys, new takes, but all the hits and more.”

Adam Lambert says: “I consider it a beautiful twist of fate that I was put on a path that aligned me with Brian and Roger. I can’t wait to tour North America one more time alongside the two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor.”

Roger Taylor adds: “Adam is certainly a real force on stage. It’s been nothing but a riotously funny and enjoyable journey with him. He is simply one of the best vocalists in the world – FACT!”

Queen + Adam Lambert’s 150-minute career-spanning setlist celebrates the band’s extraordinary back catalogue, lining up wall-to-wall immortal anthems like “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Somebody To Love” alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favourites. Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over since its very first unveiling in North America in 2019.

It has been over a year since the band last toured their acclaimed Rhapsody Tour, which was highlighted across the world in royal fashion Saturday, June 4, 2022, with a special performance in front of London’s Buckingham Palace as the opener for the Platinum Jubilee concert celebrating the late H.M. Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign, providing an altogether magnificent opener for its UK & European run of sold-out dates which saw the band play the Rhapsody tour across the UK and 11 countries throughout Europe, in all playing a total of 36 concerts.

The 2023 North American tour will see Queen + Adam Lambert supported on stage by their regular band members, long-serving Queen keyboard player Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren.

Having extensively toured since it first debuted in North America in 2019, the Rhapsody show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury’s majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger’s undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam’s vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all adding up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history.

For Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Tonight Was Not the Night: Concert Review

Neil Young

Maybe it was the chilly temperatures, steady breeze and light spatterings of rain, which take a toll when a person is standing outdoors on an elevated platform — like the stage of a concert venue — for two hours. Or maybe it was just an off night. But the feverishly passionate reviews for the first dates of Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s “ Love Earth” tour — their first in a decade — bore little resemblance to the band that plodded through its set Wednesday evening in the second of a two-night stand New York’s Forest Hills Stadium. And the fact that they were plodding through a stunning setlist of songs from the peak of Young’s illustrious career only made it worse.

Popular on Variety

But a band, especially a live rock band, is only as good as its rhythm section, and on Wednesday night, the once-mighty Crazy Horse began wandering off the track as soon as they’d started. Most of the songs were played significantly slower than their recorded versions, sometimes approaching a sludgey, almost doom-metal tempo. Drummer Ralph Molina and bassist Billy Talbot, both 80, could barely keep things moving, missing beats and losing time. Rhythm guitarist Micah Nelson — country legend Willie’s 33-year-old son, who is new to this band but has been playing with Young for a decade — did his best to hold it together, but Young was cutting songs off at the earliest opportunity, where in the past he’d often just be getting started.

To be fair, the last time I saw Neil and Crazy Horse was in 1996 — when they blew the roof off of Madison Square Garden with an electrifying set filled with so many great songs that you just couldn’t believe it — and a spot listen to YouTube recordings of other concerts on this tour, including the previous night’s , finds the band playing better, sometimes much better. But this show had a killer setlist too — and apparently the tour’s debut of “Mansion on the Hill” — and hearing those timeless songs played by what at times sounded like your uncle’s covers band only made things worse. Young, who usually includes at least some more-recent material in his sets, kept it classic — just one song from the ‘90s, nothing newer — which suggests that maybe he knows this is probably Crazy Horse’s last ride.

It’s a fact of biology to say that elderly rock and roll is always going to be like an old-timers’ baseball game: No matter how much energy they display onstage, nearly all vocalists past a certain age must sing in lower registers. Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Elton John and many others in the 70-and-above group are able to deliver stadium-sized sets thanks to low-key but essential support from auxiliary players and singers — Springsteen’s current tour band totals 18 musicians. Drummers, obviously, have it hardest of all: The Stones’ late, great Charlie Watts must have been a freak of nature to power through two-hour sets into his late 70s; most older bands with their classic-era drummers are supported on tour with percussionists. And let’s be honest, whether we realize it or not, prerecorded backing tracks have become so ubiquitous at major concerts that our ears may be unaccustomed to not hearing them.

Neil Young has never done any of that and never will — he even made a crack about it early in the show, while waiting for his roadie to tune his trusty, battered Gibson Les Paul. “We have to make sure all the backing tracks are in synch,” he joked.

None of this is to say that older humans can’t be superhuman musicians or shouldn’t be touring and performing. But this band has two months’ worth of dates ahead of it, and on Wednesday night, it was hard not to wish that Neil had put the spurs on.

Queen Camilla Just Revealed the Magical Place She Wants to Visit and Honestly I’m Not Surprised

A s a reporter who has been following the British royal family for quite some time, I can recall the countless international tours and state visits the royal family members have taken part in during years past. Just look at King Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla . After almost 19 years of marriage , the royal couple have traveled around the world together: France, Scotland, Germany, Kenya, you name it. But there is still one destination the 76-year-old queen can’t seem to cross off of her travel bucket list .

On May 16, Her Majesty made a surprise appearance at the Charleston Festival in East Sussex, London. Queen Camilla also took part in the “Power of Reading” event, which aims to expose children and young adults to the joys of reading books.

Kirsty Wigglesworth - WPA Pool/Getty Images

As a fellow book lover herself, the royal was asked by a festival attendee if there is a place she would travel to in a book. Her answer? The magical School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the Harry Potter series, of course.

“The one place I won’t be going to is The Cat In The Hat ,” the queen told the crowd, according to Hello! Magazine . “But the one place I think I'd love to go to is Hogwarts.”

Alex Wong/Newsmakers

I’m not surprised that the queen named Hogwarts as her dream destination, given her love for the Harry Potter series. In the first episode of her The Queen’s Reading Room Podcast , Her Majesty shared how much she enjoys reading the Harry Potter books with her five grandchildren : Lola, 16, Eliza, 15, Louis, 14, Gus, 14, and Freddy, 13.

“I think the one I enjoyed reading more than anything else was Harry Potter ,” the queen explained on the pod. Then, the royal went on to share how she often does different voices for the characters. However, her hubby, King Charles , does them best.

“I can’t mimic voices for love or money, I’m completely hopeless at it,” the queen added. “I was a really bad actor at school, and I’ve never been able to master the art of mimicry. But my husband, he does it brilliantly. He can do all the voices.”

A royal trip to Hogwarts? If only.

Taiwan's president joins drag queens celebrating RuPaul win

Taiwan drag queens celebrate RuPaul win at presidential office

Taiwanese  drag queen  Nymphia Wind celebrated last month’s win on "RuPaul’s Drag Race" by staging a riotous, emotional performance at Taiwan’s presidential office on Wednesday in front of President Tsai Ing-wen .

Tsai and her ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have championed LGBTQ+ rights making the island a bastion of liberal values , and in 2019 Taiwan legalized same-sex marriage in a first for Asia.

Nymphia Wind, the first person from East Asia to win the "RuPaul’s Drag Race" crown, lip-synched to three songs, including “Marry the Night” by Lady Gaga and Taiwanese diva Huang Fei’s “Chase, Chase, Chase,” dressed in a resplendent yellow outfit.

Giving an athletic performance in the presidential office’s main entrance hall and under a bust of Sun Yat-sen who in 1911 founded the Republic of China, which remains Taiwan’s formal name, Nymphia was joined by five other drag queens for her final number, Jolin Tsai’s gender equality hit “Womxnly.”

“This is probably the first presidential office in the world to host a drag show,” Nymphia told Tsai after her performance, streamed live on the office’s YouTube, and thanked her for ensuring same-sex marriage came to pass.

tour queens

“Thank you for your contributions to this country, so that I could grow up to be like this today,” she added, tearing up. “Thank you for your eight years of dedication, becoming our Taiwan mother.”

Tsai congratulated Nymphia again for her win.

“Shantay, you stay,” Tsai said, using one of RuPaul’s most well-known phrases for winning drag queens.

Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, hosts East Asia’s largest Pride march every October. Last year, Vice President Lai Ching-te, who takes office as president on Monday, marched at Pride, becoming the most senior government leader ever to attend.

Nymphia was already a well-established artist on Taiwan’s thriving drag scene, often wearing over-the-top outfits inspired by bananas, and has done shows at Taiwanese temples and photo shoots at wet markets dressed as the yellow-skinned fruit, her trademark fashion expression.
