9. Log Jammer

This is the traditional lazy and meandering slide that’s perfect for kids. It ends in a wave pool that’s perfect for younger visitors.

8. Nairobi Narrows

A pair of parallel slides send thrill-seekers into a pool, allowing rides to race each other or see who can make the biggest splash.

7. Serengeti Surf Hill

This slide is light on equipment but heavy on competition. With four lanes, riders simply grab a mat, dive face first and see who arrives at the bottom the fastest.

6. Cascade Falls

This 500-foot group ride is a high-octane thrill, with steep banked walls providing surprises along the way.

This twisting slide loops riders around a translucent tube twice, ending in a splash pool. Its name comes from the tubing, and the fact that riders below can see shadows from above.

4. Rondaxe Run

Multiple waterfalls along the way make this a favorite on hot summer days, while the banked turns give the ride the necessary zip.

3. Black River

This 500-foot slide takes place primarily in the darkness of an enclosed tube, excluding periodic light from air holes. Not for those who are afraid of the dark or claustrophobic.

This water ride, built in 2009, features a pair of drop-offs, including an initial slide of 100 feet into a whirling bowl. After spinning, riders settle into a splash pool below.

Big Timber Log Ride

You will get wet. Ponchos will be sold at the gift shops for $3.

Float through an old logging mill and up in the trees to end in a 40 foot drop to spectacular splashdown. Log flume and roller coaster combined!

Ice Mountain Bobsled  Roller Coaster

Must be 34" to ride

Standing 100 feet tall with 1600 feet of track, the Ice Mountain Bobsleds was the first ride opened at Enchanted Forest in 1983. The ride is 2 1/2 minutes long and contains plenty of turns, drops, and bunny hops. You can fit 1 adult and 1 child, or 2 average sized adults, or 3 small children in each car. There are 3 cars per train. Each car is enclosed.

Challenge of Mondor

Must be 34" to ride with adult, 42" to ride alone

Search for Mondor the wizard who sends you on a quest to fight the Creatures of the Dark to free the happy little Drumlins. This interactive target-shooting adventure keeps your score while you battle creatures to save the day. Daily high score and all-time high score medals awarded.

En+ Group to replace six units at 4.5-GW Bratsk hydropower plant

En+ Group announces it has begun replacing six hydraulic units at the its 4.5-GW Bratsk hydropower plant , on the Angara River in Russia, as part of its “New Energy” modernization program.

The total investment for this stage of the project is more than RUB1.5 billion (US$20.3 million). The work is planned to take place from 2021 to 2026 and will result in replacement of all 18 impellers (12 were replaced during the earlier stages of the modernization program in 2007 to 2010 and 2014 to 2017).

En+ Group says it is the world’s leading producer of low-carbon aluminum and largest private sector generator of hydropower .

Specialists from the Bratsk HPP and LLC EuroSibEnergo-Hydrogeneration oversaw laboratory tests on the new hydro turbine model, as well as on its operation in various load modes. Turbine and impeller models of the hydraulic unit were developed and manufactured at a scale of 1:10 for the tests. Tests included a sample view of measuring transducers, determining the efficiency and power of the units, cavitation and acceleration tests, video surveillance of the flow structure, and random tests on individual elements of the hydro turbine’s flow part. These tests suggest that the efficiency of the new hydro turbine will be 96.51%, which is almost 5% higher than the performance of existing hydroelectric units.

“We are continuing our work under the “New Energy” program at all of our hydroelectric power plants in 2021,” said Mikhail Hardikov, head of En+ Group’s energy sector. “The results obtained during the first stages of the program have already justified our investment in the project. All 12 new impellers at the Bratsk HPP have already demonstrated improvements in all key areas. Their efficiency has increased, and the HPP has been able to generate additional electricity without increasing its water consumption. The impellers that we will install this year are also designed to increase efficiency at the HPP.”

The New Energy program, implemented at the Angara-Yenisei cascade HPPs (Ust-Ilimsk, Bratsk, Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk), is a key investment project of En+ Group’s energy sector, which is worth RUB21 billion (US$283.7 million). The program as launched in 2007 and will run until 2046.One of the core priorities is to improve the reliability and safety of all stations. The comprehensive replacement of not only the main equipment like hydraulic units and impellers, but also auxiliary equipment, will be carried out under the program.

It is expected that, from 2022, En+ Group’s Siberian hydroelectric power plants will increase their electricity production by 2 billion kWh due to the program. This will reduce the group’s greenhouse gas emissions by 2.3 million tons per year.

Irkutsk to Krasnoyarsk: The road between two of Siberia’s most thriving cities

The Paris of Siberia

Originally established as a trading center, Irkutsk was founded over 350 years ago. Today, the wealth that once poured into the city is evident in the many historic wooden houses featuring elaborate woodwork and window trim. Once referred to as the “Paris of Siberia,” Irkutsk has traditionally served as Siberia’s cultural, economic and intellectual capital.

Don’t leave the city before visiting the Znamensky Monastery or the Bogoyavlensky Cathedral , which were both originally destroyed by fires during Irkutsk’s early days. The monastery, completed in 1772, features a small cemetery where notable locals are buried. The cathedral features a jumble of onion domes and towers that have long made it one of Siberia’s most iconic buildings.

The Hotel Victoria is a good option with rooms starting at $100 a night including breakfast and parking.

After exploring the southern coast of Lake Baikal on your drive along the Trans-Siberian Highway, you can visit the lake’s western coast as a day trip from Irkutsk.

Hop on a ferry run by the Eastern-Siberian Inland Navigation Company, also known by its Cyrillic acronym, VSRP . The ferry company offers package tours and ferry service to numerous towns on Lake Baikal.

If you just want to get out on the water for a few hours, VSRP runs a historic tour along the Angara River (about $10, 1 hour) that includes an audio guide. You can also book a tour to beautiful Peschanaya Bay (about $50, 10 hours, Fridays and Sundays only), or the quaint lakeside village of Bolshie Koty (about $26, 4-10 hours depending on the boat).

You can also buy a ferry ticket at VSRP to many Baikal towns. Bolshie Koty (about $13, 1.5 hours from Irkutsk) is one of the most tranquil locations on the lake. Ferries run to the village three times a day from Irkutsk except for Mondays and select weekdays during the summer. Check the ferry schedule before planning your trip.

To get back on the road from Hotel Victoria, drive south on ul. Karla Marksa and take a right on ul. Lenina. Turn left on ul. Chkalova and bear right toward the Angarsky Bridge. On the other side of the bridge, get on the M-55 Federal Highway.

Outside Irkutsk the route number on the Trans-Siberian Highway changes to M-53, which will take you to the city of Krasnoyarsk (14 hours, 1,000 kilometers). The long drive to Krasnoyarsk consists of tall hills and farmland. Like the drive through the Russian Far East, you can park your car by the road and camp, although it’s best to ask for permission if you see a house nearby.

Siberia is a land of rivers, and the city of Bratsk (9 hours, 600 kilometers north of Irkutsk) is home to the Bratsk Dam , once the world’s largest hydroelectric power station.

The Bratsk Dam can be visited independently, but you’ll see far more with a tour. Contact Taiga Tours in Bratsk to arrange a visit to the Bratsk Dam.

During summer different varieties of wildflowers grow on the M-53. The flowers overtake entire fields that appear in the distance like purple or yellow lakes. Locals often pull over to pick wild berries and mushrooms, or appear in the meadows leading flocks of sheep to graze in the countryside. This is a great area to witness the pastoral life described in classic Russian novels; you’ll find that rural traditions are alive and well in the villages on the road to Krasnoyarsk.

Upon reaching Krasnoyarsk, you can drive south away from the Trans-Siberian Highway into the Tuva Republic, home to the Tuva people , practicing Buddhists who trace their ethnic and cultural roots to the Turkic and Mongolian peoples. Most famous for their throat singers , Tuva can be a fascinating, albeit long, side trip that is recommended if you have time.
