12 Best Travel Trailers With Office Space

Best Travel Trailers With Office Space Cover

Sharing is caring!

In recent years, travel trailers with office space have been increasingly in demand. RVing is still, for many, an escape from work. But dedicated office space in a travel trailer is a must for digital nomads, remote workers, and homeschoolers.

As the demand for office space on the road has increased, many RV manufacturers have taken note. It’s becoming more common to see travel trailer floorplans with desks or even dual-purpose office spaces.

Still, DIYers love the relatively blank slate of a toy hauler’s garage when looking to create an on-the-go office. Even bunkhouses are great options for retro-fitting office space in a travel trailer.

This article will show you the best travel trailers with office space. You’ll also learn about some DIY ideas about turning your existing space into an RV workspace.

Office Space in Travel Trailers Makes Remote Work Possible

Office Space in Travel Trailers Makes Remote Work Possible

Dedicated office space within a travel trailer is a huge bonus. Sure, you could set up a workstation at a dinette, but that’s one of many solutions and might not be your best option. Constantly setting up your computer and other office supplies, only to store them away for a meal, is inconvenient at best.

Not only that, but the inability to separate a workspace from the main living room within your travel trailer can be very distracting. Office space in a travel trailer makes remote work feasible by keeping everything you need in one place and as free from distraction as possible.

Recently their aesthetic has evolved from a backwoods cabin vibe to more of the ever-popular farmhouse rustic style. With the knotty pine design of the floors and two-toned cabinetry, even the top interior designer TV personalities are sure to love the decor of this RV.

  • Length: 35.5 ft.
  • GVWR: 9,000 lbs.
  • CCC: 2,378 lbs.
  • Sleep: 5-10

Bunkhouses are great options for those that work on the road. There are so many innovative ways to utilize the bunk room as an office space. The Heartland Trail Runner 30RBK has a bunkhouse that easily doubles as an office.

Located in the back of the coach, the private bunkhouse has a dinette that can double as a desk. The overhead bunk flips up, giving you extra headroom while you work.

There’s even additional storage in the form of a small entertainment center that can be repurposed for office supplies. DIYers can add an extension to the open storage space, making it ideal for a keyboard, turning it into a third RV workspace.

This 35-foot camper has three distinct spaces. Due to the privacy of the doors and the distance between the bunkroom/office and the rest of the living space, your office area will be quiet and distraction-free.

The bunkhouse can easily transform from an office by day to a sleeping space by night. The Heartland Trail Runner is a great option for RVing families with work-from-the-road needs.

7. Forest River X-Lite 273QBXL

  • UVW: 6,028 lbs.
  • Tongue Weight: 752 lbs.
  • Length: 33.5 ft.
  • GVWR: 7,752 lbs.
  • CCC: 1,724 lbs.

Forest River doesn’t offer built-in desks, but the X-Lite 273QBXL still ranks among the best travel trailers with office space on the market. That’s because the versatile bunkhouse can be easily transformed into office space.

The tall wardrobe cabinet in the bunkroom is perfect for a standing desk. If a traditional desk is more your style, the Jiffy Sofa can easily be removed and replaced with a desk of your choosing.

But if you want to work comfortably, set up an adjustable surface space for your keyboard and mouse so you can lounge while working.

With the bunkroom/office, the X-Lite is one of the few travel trailers under 8,000 pounds that offers this type of separate space. You can easily tow this travel trailer with a Ford Expedition or Toyota’s Hybrid Sequoia.

With office space out of the main living area and its easy towing capabilities, the X-Lite 273QBXL is an excellent choice.

8. Jayco Jay Flight 33RBTS

Best Travel Trailers with Office Space Jayco Jay Flight 33RBTS Floorplan

✅ There are plenty of 110v, USB, and TV hookups in the right spots!

⛔ We’d prefer a cooktop in the outside kitchen.

  • UVW: 8,600 lbs.
  • Tongue Weight: 1,090 lbs.
  • Length: 37.10
  • GVWR: 10,950 lbs.
  • CCC: 2,350 lbs.
  • Sleep: 5-12

Jayco’s best travel trailers with office space are the Jay Flight 33RBTS and its sister coach, the 324BDS. With the TV outlet and coax cable hookup conveniently located near the dinette, we think the 33RBTS is the better pick purely for ease of hooking up a computer.

You can easily use the bunkhouse dinette as your workstation. However, if you prefer a more traditional desk, you could remove the rear dinette and replace it with a desk of your choosing.

If you prefer a proper desk, then the 324BDS is also worth considering. The TV and internet hookups are located on the camp side and, therefore, less conveniently located to your workspace. That being said, the J-cube sofas in the bunkhouse are easy to remove, even for the most novice DIYer.

Either one of these Jaycos is an excellent choice of travel trailers with office space. Which one you prefer is really a matter of preference.

Travel Trailer Pro Tip: Before the RV office space revolution, the bunkhouse dinette became passe in the mid and late 20-teens. Yet Jayco had the foresight to keep the feature going in some of their lineups. So if you’re lucky enough to find a used model with the bunkhouse dinette, grab it before it’s gone.

9. keystone outback ultra-lite 240urs .

Best Travel Trailers with Office Space Keystone Outback Ultra-Lite 240URS Exterior

  • UVW: 5,491 lbs.
  • Tongue Weight: 590 lbs.
  • Length: 28.6 ft.
  • GVWR: 7,590 lbs.
  • CCC: 2,099 lbs.

Another travel trailer under 30 feet with office space is the Keystone Outback Ultra Lite 240URS. This RV has a really great layout because of the rear slide-out for the owner’s bedroom area. We love how spacious this innovative floor plan feels.

This Keystone Outback is also untraditional because the front garage has 2 twin bunk beds rather than a drop-down queen. The garage area in the front is perfect for carrying heavy cargo as it helps prevent travel trailer sway by concentrating more weight towards the tongue of the trailer.

The front cargo space is also easily transformed into an RV office space. Use the large ramp to move office furniture in and out. This compact and lightweight toy hauler allows you to maximize your living space in more ways than one.

10. Alliance Valor 42V13

Best Travel Trailers with Office Space Alliance Valor 42V13 Floorplan

✅ We like how the garage half bath doesn’t take up garage space!

⛔ For child safety, we’d prefer the loft open in the living space.

  • UVW: 15,600 lbs.
  • Tongue Weight: 3,050 lbs.
  • Length: 44.1 ft.
  • GVWR: 20,000 lbs.
  • CCC: 4,400 lbs.

If you have a work hard, play hard mentality, the Alliance Valor 42V13 is the towable RV with office space for you. The Valor 42V13 has three distinct spaces and two bathrooms, making it perfect for larger families or couples with staggered schedules.

The garage can be modified into a spacious office. With a push of a button, the HappiJac sofas are easily stowed, creating enough space for two separate desks. Using the sofa supports to hold your desks has the added benefit of allowing you to move your surface space to various heights.

Modifying the trailer in this way also means that your desk easily stores up and out of the way with the push of a button. You’ll also love the track tie-down system, which allows you to secure anything from a file cabinet to a four-wheeler.

The Valor 42V13 is an investment worth making for those who need a dedicated RV workspace that can still do double duty as a garage.

11. Genesis Supreme RV Vortex 2715V

Best Travel Trailers with Office Space Genesis Supreme RV Vortex 2715V Exterior

✅ All of the garage furniture is moveable!

⛔ The slide-out isn’t flat-floored, so it may not be the best place for your desk.

  • UVW: 7,460 lbs.
  • Tongue Weight: 1,320 lbs.
  • Length: 32.9 ft.
  • GVWR: 9,900 lbs.
  • CCC: 2,440 lbs.

If you want a lightweight toy hauler under 10,000 pounds, take a look at the Genesis Supreme Vortex 2715V travel trailer toy hauler. This RV is a half-ton towable toy hauler that needs a heavy tow package. The tow package upgrade is worth it since this Vortex has a 15-foot garage with an optional slide-out.

That optional slideout is ideal for a DIY-standing RV workspace. You can create the perfect out-of-the-way office space in this travel trailer by replacing the sofa with a desk.

There’s even overhead storage in the slide, which is great for housing all of your work supplies. With two additional sofas in this toy hauler travel trailer, you won’t miss the sofa on the slide.

This travel trailer sells regionally. If you aren’t near a west coast authorized dealer, consider making the drive because this travel trailer with office space is hard to pass up.

12. Grand Design Momentum 397THS

Best Travel Trailers with Office Space Grand Design Momentum 397THS Exterior

✅ Dropping the floor in the master shower adds more height!

⛔ The garage overhead bins are very high up and don’t have doors.

  • UVW: 16,250 lbs.
  • Tongue Weight: 3,570 lbs.
  • Length: 44.2 ft.
  • CCC: 3,750 lbs.

Another luxury towable RV with office space is the Grand Design Momentum 397THS . This RV has a large garage that’s easy to customize. Not only that, but this RV boasts a spacious owner’s bedroom in addition to a living area with dual slideouts.

The garage space is perfect for an office area for many reasons. Many like the upgraded three-season doors that come in clear, tinted, or blackout. Regardless of the amount of light or privacy you need in your RV workspace, there’s an option for you.

Like other fifth wheel toy haulers, the two sofas under the drop-down bed are easily removable. Replace them with a desktop anchored to the HappiJac supports for an adjustable-height RV workstation.

You can also wheel in heavier, more substantial furniture with the ramp and open garage floorplan. This RV garage is a great jumping-off point for any type of home office.

Perks of Having Built-in Office Space in Your Travel Trailer

Perks of Having Built-in Office Space in Your Travel Trailer

One of the main advantages of having office space built right into your travel trailer is the time you’ll save. Dedicated office space means your monitor, computer, printer, and any other office supplies you need on a regular basis can all remain set up and in one place.

You won’t have to waste time setting up your RV office space whenever you need to get some work done. Also, this’ll decrease wasted production time searching for things you need for work.

Office storage space allows you to keep everything from client files to video equipment organized and easily accessible.

Another benefit of having dedicated office space in your travel trailer is the ability to free yourself from potential distractions. If your office area is in a bunkroom or toy hauler garage, it’s easy to close the door and focus on your work.

There are so many options for creating the perfect RV home office in your travel trailer. If you work from the road, an on-the-go office can be a dream come true.

Do You Need a Big Travel Trailer to Have an Office Space?

Do You Need a Big Travel Trailer to Have an Office Space

Many RVers may be under the impression that they need a large travel trailer in order to dedicate space to an office. However, it’s important to think outside the box when determining ways you might be able to incorporate office space into your travel trailer.

You are one step ahead if your RV has a desk already included. However, if you’re looking to retrofit a travel trailer with an office, consider space-saving solutions like standing desks or wall-mounted murphy desks.

You can’t sleep and work simultaneously, so making a bedroom pull double duty as an RV office is another great option. There are many ways to incorporate an RV office space into even the smallest travel trailers.

Does a Toy Hauler Garage Make a Good Office Space?

Does a Toy Hauler Garage Make a Good Office Space

As large, open, yet separate living spaces, toy hauler garages have always enticed RV DIYers. These garages are excellent blank slates from which you can create the RV office space of your dreams.

Toy hauler garages are especially well suited for office transformations because many have HappiJac sofas. These sofas are easily removable, and the brackets left behind make excellent desktop supports.

Toy hauler garages also have ramps and D-ring tie-down brackets. You couldn’t ask for a better space to move in and secure heavy work furniture and equipment.

Also, most RV toy hauler garages are separated from the rest of the travel trailer by a door. You’ll be free from distractions in this type of travel trailer office space.

Should You Just Use Your Dinette as an Office?

Should You Just Use Your Dinette as an Office

You can set your computer up at your dinette and work from there, but it’s definitely not ideal. Dinette spaces are cramped. Unless you use a laptop computer, there likely won’t be enough space for your various computer peripherals.

Also, dinettes are typically located in the center of any camper’s living space. This makes them one of the loudest and most distracting places to work.

If you and your significant other both work from the road, you almost certainly won’t have enough space or privacy at a dinette. As you can imagine, those noise and privacy concerns increase exponentially with kids.

You’ll want to use an ergonomic laptop stand and other aids to avoid long-term wrist injury. Remember, the dinette’s design is for eating, not working.

How to Make Your Own DIY Office Space in a Travel Trailer

There are many options for creating your own DIY office space in a travel trailer. You can simply remove the cube sofa and add a desk without any demo.

You can uninstall HappiJac sofas in a toy hauler and add desktops that can be raised or lowered.

Another possibility is to fully remove an unneeded bunk or dinette and replace it with a traditional desk.

Whatever route you choose, carving out the perfect office space in your travel trailer is relatively easy. You just need to know what to look for to make your on-the-road office great.

5 Things to Look for in Travel Trailer Office Space

1. dedicated desk space .

Things to Look for in Travel Trailer Office Space Dedicated Desk Space

Any office space in a travel trailer needs dedicated desk space. You‘ll save so much time when you can leave your computer and RV workstation set up even when not working.

2. Adequate Space for Your Chair

Things to Look for in Travel Trailer Office Space Adequate Space for Your Chair

A proper office space, even one in a travel trailer, needs a proper desk chair . Look for space with room for a standard office chair. Just be careful if you go with a rolling model. You’ll need a way to lock the wheels or secure the chair as you travel down the road.

3. Desk Storage

Things to Look for in Travel Trailer Office Space Desk Storage

Don’t forget you’ll want somewhere to store your work essentials. You may want to keep your computer set up, but things like printer paper, hard drives, and files need to be organized and out of the way properly.

Look for storage you can repurpose, like overhead cabinets and secondary wardrobes. You can even find portable storage units to add to your RV workspace.

4. Personal Tastes

Things to Look for in Travel Trailer Office Space Personal Tastes

If you spend a lot of time in your travel trailer office, you’ll want the ability to personalize the space. You’ll appreciate the room with a small plant or picture of your family.

Adding personal touches and making the space comfortable are easy ways to increase happiness and productivity while you work.

5. Good Lighting

Things to Look for in Travel Trailer Office Space Good Lighting

Regardless of whether or not you have a house plant, you’ll want good lighting in your RV workspace. Look for a space with lighting that meets your work needs.

Perhaps large windows are ideal for your office space. But if you work on the computer, the ability to block light and glare may be better. Vloggers may have additional lighting challenges as more space may be needed for their equipment.

Remember, you can always add extra lights that can be turned on and off as needed. This can be especially important in a toy hauler where the overhead bed can create a cave-like feel.

Should More RV Manufacturers Put Office Spaces in Their Travel Trailers?

Should More RV Manufacturers Put Office Spaces in Their Travel Trailers

In 1997 David Manners and Tsugio Makimoto published a book called the Digital Nomad. They predicted that technology would eventually allow people to return to a nomadic state by making it possible to work from anywhere. The events of 2020 saw that prediction become a reality for millions.

At the same time, a global pandemic shifted thousands of workers out of traditional offices; teleconferencing on internet platforms exploded in popularity. Suddenly work-from-home professions, once considered rare, became the norm.

At the same time, the demand for motorhomes and travel trailers was on the rise. RVing attracted more attention than ever before because it was one of the few forms of travel that remained possible and relatively safe.

More and more people flocked to the RV lifestyle. The changing nature of the workforce also meant they could extend their trips beyond weekend getaways. Suddenly, the RV industry was inundated with requests for travel trailers with office space.

Since then, manufacturers have begun including everything from full desks to more dual-purpose spaces in their floorplans. But they could do more.

While some professions have returned to traditional office settings, the nature of work for many has permanently shifted to telecommuting. Not only are more people working from home than ever before, but there are more options for virtual learning as well.

Families, no longer restricted by the need to report to an office or school building daily, are taking their lives on the road. No longer is full-time RV living restricted to retirees. RV manufacturers would do well to continue this trend and develop even more travel trailer floorplans with office space.

For those who love to travel but can’t find the time to get away, switching to remote work can be life-changing. Thousands of digital nomads travel full time in an RV working from the road while on a continuous adventure.

What Type Of RVs with Office Space are Best For Remote Work ?

People who want to work remotely on the road often face this challenge. Recreational vehicles have different RV workspace features for working remotely. Some have better setups for certain jobs, making them more conducive to a productive work environment.

If you intend to work and travel full-time, having a dedicated workspace, quality laptop cases, and travel gear for safely moving your office around is key.

You will want to look for key features such as a dedicated workspace. Spending hours on end working on a sofa or at a dinette can get old fast. As far as the style of the RV, that’s going to depend on your travel plans.

Will you be stationary most of the time? A fifth wheel might be best. If you plan on touring the country and moving from RV park to RV park, a Class A would be perfect. And if you plan to explore the unexplored and stay off-grid, a camper van would be a good fit.

We’ll show you the best RVs with office space to work remotely that are the most versatile for digital nomad careers.

10 Ways to Balance the Work/Life/Travel Demands

How Will You Balance the Work Life Travel Demands in an RV for working remotely on the road

People looking for the best 2024 RVs with office space to work remotely can find it challenging to balance the demands of work, life, and travel. It can be a challenge to maintain productivity while on the road, and it’s not always easy to stay connected with loved ones back home.

Here are a few tips to help you find that balance.

1. Set Realistic Goals

It’s easy to become overwhelmed by trying to do too much when you’re an RVer working remotely on the road. Set realistic goals for yourself and your work. Don’t try to accomplish more than is feasible.

2. Create a Schedule

Creating a schedule will help you keep track of your commitments and make time for what’s important. Include time for work, rest, and play in your schedule.

3. Find a Support System

It’s easy to feel isolated working on the road. Finding a support system, whether with friends, family, or co-workers, can combat a sense of separation. Connecting with others can offer emotional support and help you stay focused on your tasks.

You can also join online communities for RVers working remotely on the road. For example, online forums and clubs specifically for workers on the road are a great way to connect with others who understand the challenges and joys of working on the road.

The RV demographic is changing. No longer is working on the road while traveling full time in an RV considered an anomaly. Instead, more workers are hitting the road to pursue their travel dreams because of rapidly changing technology. The Xscapers Club embraces this notion and invites you to join in the conversation and convergence camping events.

The iRV2 forum is a great place to connect with other RVers who work remotely. This online community offers a wealth of resources and support for anyone looking to start or continue working on the road.

Fulltime Families

Fulltime Families is a club specifically for families traveling full-time in RVs. Many parents on the road are working while they balance homeschooling their kids and the other family life demands while exploring the country. This RV club for families connects members with others living the RV family lifestyle.

4. Take Care of Your Health

It can be easy to let your health take a back seat when working remotely. However, it’s essential to make time for exercise, healthy eating, and relaxation. Taking care of your health will help you be more productive and feel your best.

Some ways to make sure you are staying healthy while working on the road include:

  • Exercising regularly
  • Eating a balanced diet
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Managing stress

When you’re on the road, there’s a tendency to always be “on vacation,” which leads to slipping into bad habits. Things like eating and drinking too much, not exercising, and not getting enough sleep.

Unhealthy habits can quickly lead to feeling run down and stressed. Try to find a healthy balance while on the road so you don’t undo all your hard work.

5. Have Fun

Working on the road is a great way to explore our country. Take advantage of all the opportunities that come with the RV lifestyle. Try new things, meet new people, and explore unknown places. Embrace the freedom of working on the road instead of the road working you.

6. Take Advantage of Technology

Technology can be a great help when balancing work, life, and travel demands. Several apps and tools can make remote work more manageable, such as Slack for communication, Asana for project management, and Google Workspace or Microsoft Office 365 Online for productivity collaboration.

You can also use technology to keep in touch with loved ones while on the road. Skype , FaceTime , WhatsApp , and Zoom are all great options for video chatting.

7. Make Time for Yourself

Being a digital nomad can be isolating, so it’s important to make time for yourself outside of work. Include activities like exercise, hobbies, socializing with friends, or simply taking a break to relax and rejuvenate. When you take care of yourself, you’ll be more productive when working.

8. Set Boundaries

It’s not hard to let your work life bleed into your personal life when working remotely. However, it is crucial to set boundaries between the two to maintain a healthy balance. Limitations can include setting specific work hours, not checking work email on weekends, or not working while on vacation.

9. Be Flexible

The beauty of working on the road is that it can be flexible to fit your needs. If something comes up and you need to take a day off or switch days, don’t feel guilty. The remote work lifestyle is adaptable, so take advantage of that and make it work for you.

10. Have a Backup Plan

Things can always go wrong while traveling, no matter how well you plan. So it’s essential to have a backup plan in case of emergencies. This could include having a specific place to stay if you get sick or lose your internet connection.

The bottom line is that remote work can be a great way to have a flexible and rewarding career while traveling the country. Just make sure to set boundaries, take care of yourself, and have a backup plan. With these tips in mind, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying the remote work lifestyle.

Final Words About the Best RVs with Office Space to Work Remotely

As this article discusses, there are a few key things to consider when choosing RVs with office space to work remotely on the road: size, layout, and amenities.

Working remotely in an RV is a great way to have more freedom and flexibility in your work life, but getting started is challenging if you don’t know which direction to turn.

If you’re thinking of working remotely from an RV, take the time to consider your options and find the best fit for you. Then, with some planning, you can transition smoothly and start enjoying the nomadic lifestyle.

Tips for Working from an RV Office

If you are planning to work remotely from one of these RVs with office space, there are several ways to create a professional mobile working environment.

Office space inside an RV

Block out the Noise

RV campgrounds are often filled with the noise of children playing, cars driving by and dogs barking. These distractions can make it more difficult to focus on your work.

A pair of noise-canceling headphones with a microphone can help block out the noise for both you and your clients. Also, request a campsite away from noisy areas, such as the pool and playground.

Stay Connected

An RV with office space won’t help you much if you do not have a stable internet connection. Currently cellular hotspot plans and Starlink satellite internet are the most reliable RV internet solutions.

See our complete guide to RV internet for more details.

Manage Work/Life Balance

Although your life of travel will be awesome, working a full time job limits the time you have to explore. Travel slow and stay in new places multiple weekends to make the most of your adventure and avoid burnout.

You can also utilize time zone differences to increase the hours of daylight available for leisure time. For example, if you travel on the west coast and work on east coast hours, you will be off work by 2 or 3pm each day.

10 Campers with RV Office Space

Published on January 19th, 2021 by Levi Henley (Full-Time RVer, Content Manager and Media Specialist for RV LIFE)

10 RVs With Space for a Mobile RV Office

For this discussion, we’re defining RV office space as any secondary surface that’s not the dinette or freestanding dining table. It must have seating or a place for a chair. Today’s RVs have electric outlets positioned throughout the coach, so it’s safe to assume there’s a 110v or USB port nearby.

RV office areas also have storage. Using a nearby cabinet, overhead bin, or your laptop bag in certain circumstances would work. For those that use audio/video or graphic design equipment, their storage needs are more complex than others. When they choose an RV, finding one with the space requirements they need should be one of their top priorities.

Pop-up rv office: forest river flagstaff high wall 29sc.

The Forest River Flagstaff HW29SC could make a great RV Office - Photo: Forest River

  • Length: Open- 27.9 Feet/ 21.6 Feet
  • GVWR: 5,000 Pounds
  • Sleep: 6-7 People
  • Tanks: F- 20 Gallons/ Gr- 11 Gallons/ B- 11 Gallons

It’s 4:45 the Friday you’re leaving for your week-long trip with the family, and your boss comes to you with one of those “favors.” Since you’re the only one who has all the knowledge and access to complete the favor, it looks like you’re bringing work home with you. On your way home from the office, half the time, you’re coming up with new words to insult your boss. The other half, you’re figuring out how to tell your family you’re bringing work with you on the trip.

If you have the Flagstaff High Wall 29SC, at least you have a built-in workstation. The sofa below the front pull-out bed has a wide rectangular table to set up your laptop and other work items. Picking up one of those adjustable table workstations will make the space comfortable as you work on that favor project.

You feel a little better about the situation when you learned the kids didn’t finish all of their homework. After they burn off some energy at the campground’s playground, they get to work on their math problems on the slideout U-shaped dinette while your husband puts dinner together. If going to the amusement park doesn’t motivate them to finish their work, maybe their preference for the junk food at the park will, since his interpretation of tuna surprise isn’t that great.

When it’s time to take a break or head out with the family to enjoy your vacation, the nearby cabinet will have enough space to hold your computer, work supplies, and the kids’ things. The trip may have turned into a working vacation, but you aren’t going to miss out on the vacation side.

Truck Camper With RV Office Space: Lance 1172

  • Length: 20.4 Feet
  • GVWR: 4,628 Pounds
  • Sleep: 6 People
  • Tanks: F- 42 Gallons/ Gr- 35 Gallons/ B- 35 Gallons

You wouldn’t think something as compact as a truck camper couldn’t have a separate RV office space, but it’s true. The Lance 1172 is one example. To haul this truck camper, you’re going to need a long bed on your 350/3500 series pickup truck due to its length and payload weight.

When you walk into the passenger-side entry, you’ll find a two-seater sofa on a rear slideout, with a built-in swivel table. If you use a tabletop stand for your laptop, you can finish those reports, coding sub-sections, or presentations comfortably.

If you’re away from the things of man, the Lance 1172 offers an optional 100-watt solar panel or Onan 2500-watt propane generator. Satellite prewiring is standard, so no one can hear you when you’re yelling at the TV when the ref makes a bad call or one of your work teammates makes a mistake.

When you do have to make an appearance at the office, you’ll find plenty of room in the dry bathroom to get ready. The closet next to the queen-size bed gives you plenty of space to hang those two suitable office outfits you need.

Travel Trailer With a Full Desk: KZ Connect 292RDK

The 2020 KZ Connect offers an RV office area - Photo: KZ

  • Length: 32.3 Feet
  • GVWR: 9,175 Pounds
  • Tanks: F- 45 Gallons/ Gr- 64 Gallons/ B- 32 Gallons

When you think of travel trailers with computer desks, which brands immediately come to mind? Did you ever consider KZ? Since 1972, KZ has built its reputation as a quality RV manufacturer. Many favor their brand because their products favor those that enjoy outdoor sports. Many of their interior components have a cabin-like look and weatherproof treatments to keep moisture and other contaminants from ruining the RV.

Full-time RVers that need to stay on location for extended periods may want to consider the KZ Connect 292RDK. It doesn’t offer an off-road package, but it does sport a full-size desk in the unit’s rear, a large closet pantry, a king-size bed, and a full kitchen with an island. Wildlife photojournalists, nature writers, and other outdoor-focused workers will find this Connect travel trailer a perfect space to work and rest at the end of the day.

If your work requires you to venture out early, you can prepare your morning meal in the RV’s outdoor kitchen. You need your camera for your work, but leaving without a thermos full of coffee is ridiculous. Who can work without the “sweet nectar of life?”

When you get back to the RV, the entry door leads straight into the large dry bathroom. You can strip off your dirty laundry and scrub off whatever you got on you that day. Afterward, head to the rear living room to download the photos you shot that day. Once you’ve found your best shots and cleaned them up, you can send them to your editor. Maybe you’ll keep the one of the timber wolf giving you that insulting look.

Travel Trailer Hutch Desk: Highland Ridge Mesa Ridge 314RLS

  • Length: 35.3 Feet
  • GVWR: 13,250 Pounds
  • Tanks: F- 85 Gallons/ Gr- 97 Gallons/ B- 40 Gallons

If you’re looking for a pet-friendly fifth wheel with office space, the Mesa Ridge 314RLS has a mid-coach hutch desk that is wide enough for your laptop. Bloggers who don’t need a lot of room can write about the fantastic adventures they’re having with their pets as they cruise the highways of America.

The desk shares its space with the kitchen and is close to the entry door. Above the desk is overhead cabinetry, and the closet panty is next to it. While office workers have to walk down the hall to get their favorite drink or snack, your break room is right there (although you may have four-legged subordinates looking for their bacon-flavored snacks too).

If your blog topic’s inspiration comes from the mess your dog made, the fifth wheel comes with a separate closet for a stackable washer and dryer. Even if your boondocking, the 97-gallon grey water tank has plenty of room to hold the wastewater from the washer and “operation clean dog” from the shower.

While you’re blogging away, your spouse can continue their work in the living room. A lift top coffee table or free standing computer workstation will fit well in the double slideout space. When it’s time to take the dogs out, a few rounds of roshambo should help you determine who’s taking an unscheduled break.

Bunkhouse Two-Person Dinette: Jayco Jay Flight 33RBTS

Jayco Jay Flight 33RBTS has room for an RV office - Photo: Jayco

  • Length: 37.10 Feet
  • GVWR: 10,950 Pounds
  • Sleep: 10 People
  • Tanks: F- 80 Gallons/ Gr- 39 Gallons/ B- 39 Gallons

The creation of bunkhouse floorplans advanced family RVing to a whole new level. Previously, while mom and dad could simply get up and prepare for the day, kids had to convert their sleeping space back to the dinette or sofa for daytime use. Bunkhouses solved two problems: they allowed kids to have their own space and kept the noise at the coach’s opposite side.

Like in this Jayco , RV manufacturers went a step further by asking, “why can’t bunkhouses have other furniture pieces besides beds?” The introduction of the two-person dinette became homework central for homeschooling kids that live the full-time lifestyle.

Bunkhouse sections give you a space to separate yourself from the rest of the travel trailer or fifth wheel. There’s plenty of storage to hold all of your peripherals and a place to mount a TV or monitor. If you have one or two children, they can use the top bunks at night without disturbing your desk (hopefully). The bunk above the desk does fold up for added headroom. Creative RVers came up with other uses for bunkhouses concerning RV desk ideas. Those that don’t need all of the sleeping space remove the off-door side bunks and install a DIY RV desk in a configuration ideal for their needs. If this is something you’d like to look into, check out Do It Yourself RV for ideas and RV construction issues, you need to know ahead of time.

Mid-Bunk RV Office Room: Forest River Cedar Creek 3770F

  • Length: 40.8 Feet
  • GVWR: 16,170 Pounds
  • Sleep: 4 People
  • Tanks: F- 57 Gallons/ Gr- 82 Gallons/ B- 41 Gallons

Call it your man-cave, she-shed, or even your executive office with a view. Mid-coach bunk rooms can be your ultimate office space complete with everything you need (including that 45-inch LED TV…I mean computer monitor). Most have convertible sofas and fold down bunks for additional sleeping, but the cabinet system has a flat surface that does bow out for RV office workspace.

If you want a fifth wheel with office space, the Cedar Creek 3770F by Forest River should be on your shortlist. The full-size desk takes up the full length of the slideout in the room. The opposite interior wall has a cabinet and wardrobe to store your equipment.

The desk also acts as a twin-size bunk that comes with a foam mattress for any guests visiting. Before you perform an impression of Gandolf the Grey, there’s a foldout sofa against the rear wall in the living room. As you’re video conferencing with your boss or others, you may catch yourself wandering off. The big picture window above the desk gives you the best views wherever you are. Sometimes the most challenging part about working from your RV can be staying focused when it’s time to work.

An Airstream With an RV Office: Interstate 24GT

  • Chassis: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 Extended
  • Engine: Mercedes 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel- 188 hp @ 325 lb./ft.
  • Length: 24.6 Feet
  • GVWR: 11,030 Pounds
  • Sleep: 2 People
  • Tanks: F- 27 Gallons/ Gr- 21 Gallons/ B- 13 Gallons

The highway gives you a lot of time to think. While you’re paying attention to the road, your mind may come up with solutions you’ve been trying to figure out or hit you with those “aha moments” you didn’t realize you wanted. It’s moments like this where you want to find a safe place to pull over and write them down before you lose them.

The Class B Interstate 24GT by Airstream solves that problem. Once you’re parked safely, you can spin the driver’s seat around and grab your laptop from the overhead cabinet, and quickly set up the RV computer workstation behind you. You can adjust the small table to the best level and use the coach’s LED TV as a computer monitor. With a few quick changes, you can input your hot idea before it fizzles out.

Once you have everything put back together, return everything to travel mode and head back out. Later in the day, you can take your time hooking up the utilities and making dinner on the mid-coach kitchenette. While your partner is ready to call it a night on the convertible king-size bed in the back, you can open up your office space again to continue working.

As you work, you can lean the chair’s back into an angle more suitable since you have the seat positioned away from the steering wheel. Make sure you set the alarm for yourself, or you could wind up falling asleep in your chair again.

Motorhome Co-Pilot Workspace: Newmar Bay Star Sport 2702

Interior of the 2021 Newmar Bay Star Sport - Photo: Newmar

  • Chassis: Ford F-53 Chassis
  • Engine: Ford 7.3L V8 Godzilla Gas- 350 hp @ 468 lb./ft.
  • Length: 27.11 Feet
  • GVWR: 20,500 Pounds
  • Sleep: 8 People (with optional drop-down front bunk)
  • Tanks: F- 75 Gallons/ Gr- 60 Gallons/ B- 40 Gallons

For years, many Class A motorhomes have had RV computer setups in the co-pilot seats. It could be a variation of a slide out tray or a fold-out side table like the Newmar Bay Star 2702. Today’s Class A’s with office space up front come wired with 110v and USB outlets making the limits of computer batteries a non-issue. Once you’re parked, the pedestal tables that stand between the pilot seats add surface space.

Class A motorhomes in the Neo-Classic Era (1990-2007) that had wide dashboards and overhead cabinets gave home workers on the road plenty of space to spread out. One DIYer brought his co-pilot motorhome office space to the next level with a TV mount and an aluminum mesh shelf above the sliding shelf.

Using desktop accessories to create a second office space in Class A motorhomes under 30 feet is possible by utilizing the dinette or portable desks in front of the sofa. If you want to be comfortable, using swing arms attached to the cabinetry around the bed is a consideration. Of course, there’s always the danger of falling asleep.

Dinette With Computer Workstation: Tiffin Allegro Red 37PA

  • Chassis: Freightliner XC Chassis
  • Engine: Cummins 6.7L Inline 6 ISB Turbo Diesel- 360 hp @ 800 lb./ft.
  • Length: 39 Feet
  • GVWR: 33,400 Pounds
  • Sleep: 6 People (with optional drop-down front bunk)
  • Tanks: F- 90 Gallons/ Gr- 70 Gallons/ B- 50 Gallons

If you’re looking for a luxury RV with office space, we’ll point you to Red Bay, Alabama. Tiffin has been a family-owned operation for decades. Now that they’ve joined the Thor Industries Family, you’ll find the same excellent quality the family has offered their customers, with Thor’s innovations and resources behind them.

Tiffin offers three different dinette options. On the 37PA floorplan, the dinette sits on the door side behind the co-pilot seat. Tiffin’s dinette workstation is unique to their brand. If you turn the freestanding chairs to face the sidewall, one side has a drawer and two cabinet doors. On the other side of the table are three evenly sized cabinets.

When you open the cabinet doors, there’s a pullout tray that’ll fit a computer tower. Above the doors is a fold-down panel that houses a slideout tray for a keyboard and mouse. The shelf above the cabinetry has plenty of space for your computer monitor. The dining table gives you plenty of room to spread out all of your work papers or other equipment. It makes for a great RV office area.

The Tiffin's dinette size and proximity to the TV make it ideal for an RV office space.

On the opposite wall rests the sofa or L-shaped sofa. The L-shaped version comes with a coffee table. Since the coffee table is freestanding, replacing it with a lift-top coffee table should be an issue. One of you have your side of the RV to work, and your partner has theirs. With dual slides, neither one of you should distract the other.

Full Desk Feature: Winnebago Forza 38D

Winnebago Forza - Photo: Winnebago

  • Chassis: Freightliner XCS Chassis
  • Engine: Cummins 6.7L Inline 6 ISB Turbo Diesel- 340 hp @ 800 lb./ft.
  • Length: 39.10 Feet
  • GVWR: 29,410 Pounds

Motorhome bunkhouses created a lot of new opportunities for Class A motorhomes. When the twin bunk beds came out, RV manufacturers made the space convertible. If you didn’t need the sleeping space, it could convert to additional closet space, general storage, or a luxury dog bed for that four-legged child that doesn’t grow up and moves to the other side of the country (we’re not bitter).

Winnebago was the first to evolve the space by converting the RV bunkhouse to an office in the Forza 38D. The full-length two-person desk comes with a set of three drawers that separate the leg wells and a foam mattress so the desk surface can transform into a twin bunk.

The diesel Class A motorhome also comes with a front dropdown bunk, so you can have guests stay over without having to give up your desk. The two-person sofa or optional theatre seats come with laptop-sized tables if your traveling partner needs more separation to work.

The Forza 38D is a motorhome with two full baths, so if the two of you have to get ready for a presentation or a sales day, neither one of you has to wait for the other. The ten-gallon water heater should supply both of you with plenty of hot water.

Best Travel Trailer For Full-Time Living

8 Best RV Travel Trailers for Full-Time RV Living Adventure in 2024

Aaron Richardson

  • Last Updated: February 25, 2024
  • 25 minutes read

Selecting the right travel trailer for full-time living can be an overwhelming decision.

Yet, after rigorously testing over thirty models myself, focusing on comfort, durability, and practicality, I’ve come to find that not all RVs are cut out for the lifestyle.

Finding an RV that can truly be called a home is key for those looking to transition into full-time RV living .

Some crucial factors include space, amenities, and how well they can support the everyday needs of full-time dwellers, from solo adventurers to families .

Out of the many I explored, the Winnebago – Micro Minnie 2108DS stood out for its exceptional balance of comfort, functionality, and mobility, making it my top pick for the best overall travel trailer for this purpose.

It’s a prime example of how a thoughtful layout and design can make a space feel like a true home on wheels.

Based on my experience, the top travel trailers for full-time living are:

  • Winnebago – Micro Minnie 2108DS : Best overall for full-time living with its compact efficiency.
  • Grand Design – Imagine XLS 22RBE : Great for couples seeking comfort and luxury on the road.
  • Coachmen – Apex 284BHSS : Ideal for families, offering spacious living and sleeping areas.
  • Airstream – Flying Cloud 30FB Office : Perfect for remote workers, featuring a dedicated office space.
  • Palomino – Solaire 320 TSBH : Top choice for entertainment, featuring multiple TVs and spacious seating areas.
  • Coachmen – Catalina Legacy Edition 343BHTS : Excellent for larger families, with generous living spaces and multiple bedrooms.
  • Forest River – Cherokee Wolf Pack Gold 27GOLD10 Toy Hauler Travel Trailer : Best for adventure lovers, with ample storage for outdoor gear.
  • Jayco – Jay Flight Bungalow 40RLTS Destination Travel Trailer : A fantastic option for those preferring stationary living with the comforts of a full-size home.

What to Look for in a Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living

What To Look For In A Travel Trailer For Full-Time Living

Your preferred travel and lifestyle are going to be the biggest factor that determines the features you prioritize in a travel trailer for full-time living.

When shopping for the model that suits your family best, consider the following factors.

Where You Will Stay

Are you the type of person/family that likes to stay in well-appointed RV parks with tons of resources available, or do you love to boondock off the grid for several days at a time.

If you do love to dry camp, then you’ll want to prioritize a travel trailer with large waste and fresh water storage tanks.

You might want to also move things like a generator or solar panels higher up your list of priorities as well.

Size & Floorplan

What this ultimately comes down to is just how many people will be living full-time in the travel trailer.

If it’s just you enjoying the open road with perhaps a four-legged best friend for companionship, you might lean more toward a travel trailer that’s under 20 feet long, and has one very well-decked-out master suite.

On the other end of the spectrum, a traveling family with two small children might prioritize a travel trailer over 25 feet with a master suite in the front, bunk beds in the back, and a large dinette area for mealtimes.

Power slide-outs can also buy you more precious interior living space as well.

Length of Stay

Just how long you will stay in one spot might also be a factor. If you will be moving around every week or two, then a travel trailer that hooks up easily and deploys an awning with ease might be a preference.

If you are planning to set up camp and put your feet up for months at a time at the family lake lot, then a destination travel trailer that steps out onto a prepared deck space might top your priority list.

Where You’ll Be Staying & HVAC

If you plan to live in the sunbelt 12-months out of the year, then a travel trailer with a robust rooftop air conditioner will be a priority.

If you are a tradesman who lives in his travel trailer on remote job sites during the summer but wants to live on the ice fishing all winter, then insulation and a powerful furnace will top your list.

Payload Cargo Capacity

Since you will be living in it full time, you will likely need to haul more gear and personal effects to maintain your preferred lifestyle full time.

To spare you from living a Spartan existence, you might want to prioritize travel trailers with an above-average payload or cargo capacity.

If you are going to be towing your full-time travel trailer a lot, then you want to put extra scrutiny into the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) compared to the maximum towing capacity of your intended tow vehicle.

Ideally, you want the GVWR to be 80% or less than the pickup truck’s GVWR to keep from constantly straining the tow vehicle with all the journey’s from Point A to Point B and Point C.

The gross weight becomes less of a factor if you are going to do something like park a travel trailer at the family lake lot and leave it there year-round.

Key Travel Trailer Appliances for Full-Time Living

Key Travel Trailer Appliances For Full-Time Living

People who live full-time in their travel trailers tend to place a higher priority on certain appliances compared to people who just want to camp in their travel trailers.

This makes appliance choices their own separate category to factor into your traveling lifestyle.

Washer & Dryer Prep

Most people who live in their travel trailer full time bemoan having to take time out to sit in a laundromat.

If this sounds like you, then you might want to prioritize a model that either has a washer & dryer included in the purchase or comes prepped to have one installed.

In the same vein as laundry, washing the dishes can be a real pain. Especially if you fall in love with a travel trailer that has a small sink or a single basin sink in the kitchen.

A high-efficiency dishwasher will use only a small amount of water while cleaning the dishes and sparing you a lot of elbow grease.

It also frees up precious counter space that might otherwise be lost to an unsightly dish drainer.

Large House Batteries

If you are going to be staying off the grid for even a short amount of time, you will likely need to rely heavily on your RV’s house batteries.

A larger battery bank will hold more charge, while also giving you the opportunity to parallel wire them for a longer run time between recharging.

Generator Prep

While most travel trailers don’t come with a built-in generator, there is a fair number that does .

This is a great way to power your travel trailer when you are camping off the grid, or simply staying at an RV park that doesn’t have compatible shore power available.

Optional Solar Power

Solar panels are a great way to recharge or maintain the charge on house batteries.

They can also be a great way to save money on the cost of electricity when you are at a campsite that offers shore power.

You ultimately end up paying far less per unit for solar in the long run than you pay per unit when plugged into an RV park’s resources.

With a gross vehicle weight rating of under 7,000-pounds, it is comfortably towable by a half-ton pickup truck or a full-size SUV.

The floorplan is also very appealing for a single person or a couple who wants to live in their travel trailer full-time.

One of the major things that jump off the page with the Grand Design Imagine XLS is the Four Season Protection Package.

This makes it one of the best travel trailers for full-time living for a couple or a small family that needs to handle everything the four seasons can throw at them.

It includes key features like an upgraded 25,000 BTU High-Capacity Furnace, Heated & Enclosed Underbelly with Suspended Tanks to prevent freeze-ups, as well as a heat ducted floor and residential grade ventilation system throughout. Even the roof and front cap offer superior R-40 insulation.

When you take a closer look at the interior layout you find a queen-size master suite in that well-insulated front nose cap to keep you and perhaps a spouse toasty warm on a cold winter night.

A single power slide-out section expands the available floor space in the open concept living area to give you a truly homey feel.

The exterior of the Grand Design Imagine XLS also has a lot of the touches that help transform a travel trailer into a home.

The 18-foot awning expands to give you an outdoor porch area with plenty of elbow room.

There’s also an unobstructed pass-thru storage bin to let you conveniently stow all your outdoor gear, to keep from tracking dirty inside.

There’s even an LP quick connect for your favorite gas grill and a retractable spray nozzle hose to rinse off the dog.

These exterior creature comforts go a long way toward feeling like you are “Living” instead of “Camping.”

3. Coachmen Apex 284BHSS

Coachmen Apex 284BHSS

  • MSRP around $50,000
  • Length of 32.58 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 6,022 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 1,578 lbs.
  • GVWR of 7,600 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 810 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 50.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 70.0 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 35.0 gallons
  • Sleeps up to 10 people

With its queen-size master suite in the front, bunk beds in the back, and a ton of creature comforts the Coachmen – Apex 284BHSS is one of the best travel trailers for full-time living to meet a family’s needs.

The bunk beds in the back are great for school-age children, but also big enough to accommodate a teenager’s needs and give them a place to feel is truly their own.

The MSRP of the Coachmen – Apex 284BHSS ranges around $50,000, though there are a fair number of national dealerships who are willing to offer promotional sales, or will wrap optional extra’s into the initial purchase price.

It’s when you turn your eye to the weight and storage statistics that things start to get interesting with this full-time-capable travel trailer.

With a gross vehicle weight rating of 7,600-pounds, it is comfortably within the range of what you can pull with a half-ton pickup truck or a full-size SUV.

This spares you from having to invest in a larger vehicle to tow it, which makes it appealing to traveling families who are on the go.

The large power slide-out section of the Coachmen – Apex 284BHSS gives it a lot of interior living space.

It gives you enough elbow room to let everyone feel like they have their own area.

It also makes the most out of the open concept living room and kitchen combo to feel like a real “Home.” The bathroom in the back even has a basin deep enough to bathe a young child.

If there is a minor complaint about this family-friendly travel trailer for full-time living it’s the lack of any sort of washer & dryer prep.

If you are okay with spending a few extra hours each week at a laundromat, this isn’t a big deal.

4. Airstream – Flying Cloud 30FB Office

Airstream Flying Cloud 30FB Office

  • MSRP around $110,000
  • Length of 30.83 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 6,757 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 2,043 lbs.
  • GVWR of 8,800 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 903 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 52.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 41.0 gallons
  • Sleeps up to 6 people
  • 28,500 BTU Air Conditioner
  • 30,000 BTU heater
  • Tankless Water Heater

Airstream is the classic American travel trailer, and one of the most popular travel trailer brands embraced by full-timers of yesteryear as well as today.

The problem is that their “Classic” model tends to have a price tag based on brand recognition, while also feeling like they skimped a little on modern amenities to preserve that “Classic” feel.

That is where the Flying Cloud travel trailer comes perfectly into play. It has all the look and feels of a Classic Airstream travel trailer, though it carries a price tag of around $110,000 instead of $160,000.

There are 15 different floorplans available, though we chose the Airstream – Flying Cloud 30FB Office for its ability to appeal to a traveling tradesmen, or a job site supervisor who needs to stay in comfort while living on a remote job site.

When you look at it from the outside, you will see all the signature gleam and aerodynamic shapes of a classic Airstream travel trailer.

When you step on the inside, you find a modernized travel trailer with a lot of creature comforts and innovation.

This includes things like a tankless water heater for on-demand hot water, a large bathroom, and a lounge area that separates itself from the front bedroom.

In the back, there is also a small, yet functional office. It’s the perfect place for a foreman or job site supervisor to take care of the paperwork and keep important documents in one orderly place.

When it comes to the towing statistics, the GVWR of 8,800-pounds and the heavy Hitch Weight of 903-pounds means that the Airstream – Flying Cloud 30FB Office is better suited to being towed by a three-quarter or one-ton pickup truck.

This is the typical pickup truck you see a lot of “Bosses” having at construction sites, to begin with.

Though it might put this travel trailer out of your range if you already have a half-ton pickup truck that you love.

5. Palomino Solaire 320 TSBH

Palomino Solaire 320 TSBH

  • Length of 36.25 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 7,958 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 1,865 lbs.
  • GVWR of 9,825 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 1,085 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 44.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 98.0 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 30.0 gallons
  • 13,500 BTU Air Conditioner
  • Washer & Dryer Prep (Optional)

The Palomino – Solaire 320 TSBH is a relatively heavy 36-foot travel trailer with all the comforts of home and then some.

While it can technically sleep up to 10 people on paper, it is arguably better suited for a couple or retirees who want to have the grandkids come to stay for a weekend.

The master suite is one of the things that jumps off the page right away.

It has a true king-size bed built into one of the three slide-out sections, with floor space for two people to walk around. This is rare in a lot of front-mounted king-size master suites.

The other thing to like is the corner closet that comes with washer & dryer prep. A dealership will have affordable stackable models for you to choose from, which lets you save time and money, without having to go to a local laundromat.

Palomino also made sure to build this version of the Solaire with a large enough gray water tank to handle the washing machine water, which isn’t always the case with the competitors.

A large slide-out at midship gives expands the livable space for the open concept kitchen and living room.

It has a comfortable sofa, a cozy dinette, and a large entertainment center just like you would expect in a brick & mortar home.

The rear of the Palomino – Solaire 320 TSBH has a separate small living room area with its own entertainment center.

There’s also a sofa sleeper with a fold-out bunk. This gives teenagers or visiting family members their own living space.

The exterior of the Palomino – Solaire 320 TSBH is also well-appointed with the creature comforts of a home on the road.

The 21-foot awning gives you a huge sitting area out of the sun. There’s also a large outdoor kitchen area with a refrigerator and sink to replicate the feeling of a grill on your back deck.

6. Coachmen Catalina Legacy Edition 343BHTS

Coachmen Catalina Legacy Edition 343BHTS

  • MSRP around $52,000
  • Length of 38.5 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 8,620 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 2,180 lbs.
  • GVWR of 10,800 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 1,252 lbs.
  • 35,0000 BTU furnace

The Coachmen – Catalina Legacy Edition 343BHTS is another travel trailer set up for full-timing that includes a washer and dryer prep.

Adding a stackable unit saves you a lot of money in laundromat costs, without taking up a lot of space in the queen-size master suite’s corner closet.

Though this isn’t the only way in which this well-appointed travel trailer feels like a “Home” instead of a “Camper.”

When you step into the bathroom you are treated to the kind to the kind of quality features you want to live with.

This includes things like a large shower with a true glass door instead of plastic, as well as a large RV toilet and a deep basin sink.

The rear of the Coachmen – Catalina Legacy Edition 343BHTS is essentially a separate living room with an entertainment center and a comfortable couch.

If your children or your grandchildren want to visit for a weekend the entire rear transforms into a comfortable guest bedroom without robbing you of any of the living space in the midship open concept kitchen and family room.

When you step outside you’ll also find a lot of like-home convenience features.

Including an outdoor camper kitchen and a rear bumper gear rack for things like mountain bikes or hanging outdoor clothes. Not to mention a large pass-thru exterior storage bay.

All this comes with an impressively comfortable MSRP of $52,000 new. Though the gross weight of nearly 11,000-pounds does mean that you will need at least a three-quarter-ton pickup truck to tow it.

If you are going to be moving around a lot you might want to lean toward a one-tone truck for your tow vehicle. If you don’t already have one, this can factor into the overall cost of ownership.

7. Forest River – Cherokee Wolf Pack Gold 27GOLD10 Toy Hauler Travel Trailer

Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pack Gold 27GOLD10

  • MSRP around $64,000
  • Length of 33.5 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 7,860 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 3,546 lbs.
  • GVWR of 11,406 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 1,206 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 100.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 76.0 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 38.0 gallons
  • 40,0000 BTU furnace

The Forest River – Cherokee Wolf Pack Gold 27GOLD10 is a toy hauler travel trailer that is nicely geared for a couple or a small family that loves full-time living.

Yet it is also geared to let you live in comfort when you want to take your travel trailer home off the grid for a week or so of boondocking.

The MSRP of the Forest River – Cherokee Wolf Pack Gold 27GOLD10 is also very friendly for a toy hauler travel trailer.

It only costs around $64,000 totally loaded and ready to pull off the dealership’s lot.

Though the gross vehicle weight rating does push the limit of what a half-ton pickup truck can safely pull when it’s fully loaded.

If you don’t already have a three-quarter-ton truck to pull it, you will need to factor that into the overall cost of ownership.

The living and sleeping accommodations in this toy hauler travel trailer are the definition of the word “Spacious.”

You see this with the truly king-size master suite in the front with enough room on each side of the bed for his and hers nightstands, and wardrobe closets.

There’s also enough floor space to dress and walk around easily, which isn’t always the case with a lot of other master suites that basically jam a king-size bed into the bedroom.

The large power slide-out section adds to the overall floor space that flows through to the kitchen.

It houses a family-size dinette as well as a comfortable jack knife sofa that feels like a true living room, as it faces the entertainment center and pantry.

The rear cargo area garage is large enough, and the payload capacity is high enough to easily hold an ATV, golf cart, or UTV.

Though it is much more than that. When you pull your “Toys” out the rear ramp converts into an outdoor porch or deck where you can sit back and enjoy a pleasant summer evening, just like you would on your deck at home.

The Forest River – Cherokee Wolf Pack Gold 27GOLD10 is a great option for couples who like to spend the summer “Hosting” a private campground or contract operating a primitive campground for the forest service.

You can set it up as a seasonal home in the summer, with a golf cart or ATV to let you patrol the campground. Then it packs up to let you head south before the snow flies.

8. Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow 40RLTS Destination Trailer

Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow 40RLTS

  • MSRP around $56,000
  • Length of 41.3 ft.
  • Dry Weight of 11,825 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 1,825 lbs.
  • GVWR of 13,000 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 1,495 lbs.
  • Total Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 38.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 71.5 gallons
  • Total Black Water Tank Capacity of 39.0 gallons

While destination travel trailers like the Jayco – Jay Flight Bungalow 40RLTS are truly mobile, they are geared more for families who want to park up their travel trailers for months if not years at a time.

You see this in the signature large sliding glass door that is intended to step out onto a semi-permanent deck.

It makes this a great travel trailer for full-time living at the family lake lot or your own private retirement village.

For all the comfort and luxury you get the MSRP of the Jayco – Jay Flight Bungalow 40RLTS is a very friendly $56,000.

Though this doesn’t include the cost of some of the optional extras like the washer & dryer prep in the spacious master bath.

Where you want to keep this destination travel trailer and how often you want to move it can be a factor in the overall cost of ownership.

With a gross weight of 13,000-pounds and a hitch weight of nearly 1,500-pounds, you will need a three-quarter to a one-ton pickup truck to safely tow it.

If you are planning to park it at a seasonal or long-term campsite, then this is a non-factor.

If you are going to move it around every month or two, then you will need to factor in the tow vehicle cost or the cost to hire a tow company to move it for you.

The interior of the Jayco – Jay Flight Bungalow 40RLTS is well appointed and designed to be a true home for a couple or a small family who wants a weekend retreat that is ready 24/7/365 days a year.

It has a comfortable queen-size master suite in the front with tons of storage.

A spacious master bath, and an open concept kitchen, and a living room with an entertainment center that houses a 40-inch flatscreen TV.

Not sure why out of all of the awesome choices made by Grand Design and Winnebago you picked their smallest and least luxurious models. It almost seems like you skewed the choices so people would naturally gravitate towards the larger ones you offered. Not sure anyone wants to full-time in an Imagine XLS or Micro-minnie unless they have a smaller Truck and can’t pull something larger. Those two models are suited for Non full-time people in my opinion.

The 15 Best Travel Trailers for 2024

Traveling doesn’t mean having to step foot in a frenzied airport. In fact, there’s never been a better time to go camping. With the right travel trailer, you can easily leave the city behind without having to deal with anyone other than your nearest and dearest. Today’s featured-packed caravans are nothing like those you rode in as a kid, either. Not only do they look good, but they’re packed with enough luxury features that you’ll feel right at home, no matter where you are.

We’re also at the point where there’s a trailer for practically every kind of camper, regardless of what vehicle they drive. If you’re the kind of person who likes the classics, there are multiple aluminum-sided Airstream and Bowlus models to choose from. Want to bring as much of your home on the road with you? How about Living Vehicle or Land Ark’s mammoth condos on wheels? There are also caravans you can take off-road with your 4×4 and ultra-light and compact models you can tow with an EV. Some can even be turned into a mobile office if you want to mix work and play. Below are 15 travel trailers that will allow you to take to the road in just about any way you can imagine.

A rear 3/4 view of the Living Vehicle HD24

If you want a better understanding of how far travel trailers have come over the decades, just look at the Living Vehicle lineup. The Santa Barbara-based company’s boxy trailers are basically mini apartments you can take with you on the road. Our favorite might be the new HD24, which is far from the company’s biggest offering, but comes with all the amenities you could need at the campground—and then some.

The all-electric model, which starts at $299,995, may measure only 24 feet, but its minimalist interior still has more than enough for a bedroom, kitchen, entertainment area, and a bathroom with a dedicated shower. One particularly clutch feature is a five-by-eight-foot multi-purpose space that can be used as an office, guest room, or laundry room. If that wasn’t enough, the top-of-the-line Pro variant has a solar-assisted power system that can keep the trailer running for up to a month off the grid.

The Living Vehicle HD24 entertainment area

Special Features:   —Trailer can be configured to include a laundry room, office, or guest room. —Interior has a clean minimalist look and comes packed with premium amenities. —Range-topping Pro version’s power system produces enough energy for 30 days of off-the-grid living,

The Bowlus Endless Highways Performance Edition from the side

It may not be the most famous shiny caravan maker—that would be Airstream—but Bowlus is the company that gave us the first riveted travel trailer. The company, which was revived in 2014, knows not to mess with a good thing, so its well-regarded trailers—like our favorite, the  Endless Highways Performance Edition —look just like those it produced in the 1930s, only bigger and with better materials (think: alclad aluminum for the exterior and birchwood for the interior).

Despite its classic look, the $225,000 trailer has all the conveniences you expect in 2022, including heat and air-conditioning systems, a WiFi modem and plenty of outlets for charging all your smart devices. Best of all, though, might be a lithium iron phosphate that gives you the ability to live off the grid for two peaceful weeks. If you’re an animal lover, there’s also the  Terra Firma , which features a bunch of Fido-friendly features like a built-in food bowl, pet bed and remote temperature control system.

Inside the Bowlus Volterra

Special Features:  —Thee’s a double-sided indoor galley and an outdoor cooking area with electric and propane outlets. —The hotel-style shower has teak flooring and seating. —Lithium iron phosphate power system can keep the entire trailer running for up to two weeks.

A front 3/4 view of the Mammoth Overland Extinction Level Event

Mammoth Overland’s latest model is a burly off-road trailer designed to withstand anything it encounters in nature. The appropriately named Extinction Level Event (ELE) rides on a set of chunky all-terrain tires and has an angular aluminum body reinforced with steel armor and skid plates. If that doesn’t sound like enough, you can upgrade to Level 3 bullet-proof armor. There’s also a built-in bear spray system too, for added security. The ELE, which starts at $67,000, is pretty compact since it’s a tear-drop trailer, but it can comfortably sleep two and has an integrated workstation inside its cabin. There’s also a swing-out kitchenette in the back for cooking.

The Mammoth Overland Extinction Level Event's swing-out kitchenette

Special Features:   —Comes with a built-in bear spray system and is available with bullet-proof armor. —Despite its compact size, the interior cabin still has room for a built-in workstation. —The swing-out kitchenette isn’t big, but has everything you need to cook a delicious meal.

Best Overall: Airstream Globetrotter

Airstream Globetrotter

One brand leaps to mind when most of us think about travel trailers—Airstream. Its iconic aluminum-sided caravans have been instrumental in popularizing road trips and  camping  in the US for decades. One need only look at the company’s  Globetrotter  model to see why: In addition to looking beautiful, the silver-covered caravan is packed with creature comforts to keep you traveling comfortably. It’s not the brand’s largest model—that would be the flagship  Classic —but it’s available with one of six different floor plans, each of which has room for a spacious entertainment area (that can sleep up to four adults).

Inside you’ll find a full-featured kitchen, half-bathroom, shower and sizable bedroom with either a queen-sized bed or two twins. As you would expect from Airstream, the amenities are top-rate, too, like Franke faucets in the kitchen and bathroom, stainless steel appliances, Quietstream climate control system and multiple LG LED TVs. The Globetrotter starts at $120,000. If it doesn’t fit the bill, the brand has plenty of other models to choose from, including collaboration editions like the  extra-homey Pottery Barn Edition  or their  ultra-rare Supreme edition .

Airstream Globetrotter

Special Features: —There are different floor plans to choose from, each of which features a full kitchen, half bathroom and dedicated shower. —The Quietstream climate control system barely makes a peep, even when the heater or A/C is running. —A built-in canopy provides shade when you want to spend time outside.

The W2 Romotow T8

Good things come to those who wait. More than a decade after it was first announced, the Romotow T8 is finally available to order. The 30.5-foot caravan, which was designed by New Zealand-based architecture and design firm W2, has two main components—a fixed chassis and a smaller living space that fits just inside of it. When the $268,500 trailer is parked, the cabin slides out at the touch of a button and can be rotated 90 degrees like a swiveling USB stick. When rotated like this, the hydraulic-powered chassis can then be used as a patio. While this unique design may be the vehicle’s main selling point, its interior cabin comes with all the features you need and has enough room for six adults.

Inside the W2 Romotow T8

Special Features:   —Unique rotating design is unlike anything else currently on the trailer market. —The living area is large enough to sleep up to six adults. — Hydraulic patio comes with an integrated deck set.

Escapod Topo2

The  Escapod Topo2  is a trailer for anyone looking to take their camping trip off road with minimal fuss. The brand’s update of the classic teardrop trailer is an off-road-friendly model without any of the bulk. Unlike most of the trailers on this list, Escapod’s bedroom and kitchen area are separated from one another. The dedicated sleeping area has room for a queen-size mattress and is equipped with a stargazer window so you can really take in the peace and quiet of the great outdoors. The galley, meanwhile, is only accessible from outside the $39,500 trailer, but has ample counter space for meal prep and cooking. Both sections get their power from a VPR 4EVER lithium ion battery with some solar panels to help keep things running smoothly and efficiently.

Escapod Topo2

Special Features: —Exterior is made from a single-piece of composite fiberglass that is rugged and weather-resistant. —Laser-cut tube steel frame should last for years. —Bedroom’s stargazer window offers up a beautiful view of your surroundings.

The Retreat Caravan and OzXcorp's ERV Electric Camper

It was only a matter of time until the  electric revolution  made its way to the world of trailers and campers.  Retreat Caravan and OzXcorp’s ERV  is a rugged trailer that also happens to run entirely on battery power. Roof-mounted solar panels provide juice for a 14.3-kWh lithium battery that keeps the trailer’s many appliances running. And while the trailer is perfectly equipped for some off-road fun, thanks to a specially tuned suspension and all-terrain tires, it also packs all of the comforts of a luxe hotel room inside, including a bathroom, spacious seating area and master bedroom suite with a king-sized bed and closets. But the true highlight may be the $75,000 caravan’s full-size kitchen, which features an induction cooktop, fridge and washing machine. There’s also a Weber electric barbecue and slow cooker for making your meals outdoors.

The interior of the ERV electric cabin

Special Features: —Solar panels and 14.3-kWh battery power the trailer and let you go off grid. —A specially tuned suspension and large all-terrain tires let you go off-road. —The primary bedroom has enough room for a king-size bed and its own closets.

Eriba Touring 820

Are you looking for an aluminum-sided trailer that looks like more than just another Airstream or Bowlus’s rip-off? If so, the  Eriba Touring 820  might fit the bill. The company’s top-of-the-line caravan updates the classic silver bullet look with a retro-futuristic shape and details. Even more impressive, though, is the 27-foot-trailer’s interior. The company has packed it full of luxury amenities like a sizable, leather-covered lounge area (that can be converted into a bed), customizable mood lighting and a surprisingly fashionable bathroom. The true highlight, though, is a bedroom with a large panoramic window that offers up a gorgeous views of your surroundings. That’s good, too, since you might not actually want to leave the $88,500 trailer.

Eriba Touring 820

Special Features: —The kitchen has a mini wine cellar for keeping your best bottles at the ready. —The leather-upholstered entertainment area can be converted into an additional sleeping area at night. —Adjustable mood lighting will help you feel at home no matter where you are.

The Land Ark Drake

Almost more of a portable house than a trailer, the  Land Ark Drake  basically lets you take all the comforts of home on the road. The gigantic, yet stylish, two-level, 357-square-feet trailer can comfortably sleep seven adults. Stark and modern on the outside, the trailer features an equally clean white-washed pine and black metal decorated interior. Across its two floors, it has room for a full-sized kitchen, living room and bathroom (which includes a bathtub), along with two loft bedrooms and an office which can also be converted to a sleeping area. Its $139,000 starting price may sound a lot for a trailer, but for a two-story house on wheels it’s not that bad.

Inside the The Land Ark Drake

Special Features: —The two-level design means you have 357-square-feet of space. —Downstairs bathroom includes a tub for when you need to take a relaxing soak. —It has a primary bedroom and two loft-style sleeping areas.

A front 3/4 view of the Pebble Flow

There are plenty of EV-friendly travel trailers on the market at this point, but none are nicer to an electric powertrain than the Pebble Flow, which starts at $109,000. The futuristic vehicle is available with an optional propulsion that includes two electric motors—one situated on each wheel—to help make sure its 6,200-pound weight isn’t eating up all your battery-powered vehicle’s range. That’s far from the Flow’s only forward-thinking feature though. The trailer also comes with an “Instacamp” system that can be used to park the vehicle and set up camp (which includes leveling out the vehicle, deploying its staircase, and turning on the lights). The unique feature can also be triggered remotely via Pebble’s smartphone app.

Inside the Pebble Flow

Special Features:   —An optional propulsion system means it can even be towed by EVs. —Unique “Instacamp” system allows you to park the vehicle remotely via the company’s smartphone app. — Solar-assisted battery pack produces enough power for a week of off-the-grid living.

Colorado Teardrops Boulder travel trailer

There are EV-friendly trailers and then there’s  Colorado Teardrops’s Boulder . Not only is the company’s latest designed to be towed by a battery-powered SUV or truck, it can also charge your EV’s battery. That ability comes courtesy a 75-kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a built-in DC fast charger that will give you some much needed peace of mind out on the open road. At the very least, it gives you the freedom to come up with a route centered around sights instead of charging stations. Aside from this very vital feature, the compact caravan has everything two adults and two children need to live off the grid for a for a few days, including a comfortable queen-sized mattress, two bunk beds (for the kids), an enclosed kitchenette and an optional climate control system. The $55,000 trailer also comes in a variety of two-tone color schemes that all look pretty sharp.

Colorado Teardrops Boulder travel trailer

Special Features: —Doesn’t just ease the burden on your EV’s battery; it can charge it, too. —A unique bunk-bed design creates room for four people to sleep (two adults and two children). —The enclosed kitchenette has plenty of counter space.

Hunter Nature Raptor XC

A big trailer can be a godsend on the campground, especially if you’re traveling with family or friends. The problem, of course, is getting the hulking vehicle there. No matter how experienced the driver, maneuvering a large caravan can be very tricky. Luckily there are trailers like  Hunter Nature’s Raptor XC . The brand’s angular model looks compact but features a pull-out section that just about doubles the size of its interior. When it’s fully extended you’ll have more than enough room for a dedicated living area, kitchen and bedroom. This will come in handy if there’s more than two in your traveling party, too. That’s because the $44,000 trailer’s entertainment area can easily be converted into an additional sleeping area at night.

The Hunter Nature Raptor XC's main living area and slide-out bedroom

Special Features: —An expanding segment turns this trailer into a multi-room cabin. —The bedroom has a large skylight so you can see the stars at night. —A spacious lounge can be converted into an additional sleeping area if you need more room.

Best for Design Obsessives: X-Cabin300

The X-Cabin300 travel trailer

Silver trailers don’t all need to be bullet-shaped as nice as the classic Airstream may look. Just take a gander at the X-Cabin300. The all-aluminum vehicle has a boxy shape that looks both classic and modern. The Japanese-made caravan is compact, but comes with four different interior layouts designed to meet your varied needs (it can even be used as a food truck). The $50,000 trailer is smaller than most—it measures just seven feet tall, seven feet wide, and 15 feet long—and only tips the scales at 1,650 pounds, which means a compact SUV can even tow it.

X-Cabin300 travel trailer with a canopy attached

Special Features:   —A refreshing spin on the classic all-aluminum travel trailer. —Available with four different interior layouts. —Small and light enough to be towed by a compact SUV.

The exterior of the Taxa Mantis

It can be hard to find a trailer that fits everyone’s needs, but the  Taxa Mantis  comes close. Its no-nonsense design means it fits with nearly anyone’s style. Thanks to a pop-up roof section, ingenious use of space and plenty of storage compartments, the Mantis has all the room you and your friends and family need to camp in comfort, which can be crucial on longer trips. It’s also got all the necessary features, including a bathroom with a built-in shower, water heater, kitchenette and 8,000 BTU air conditioner. The trailer, which starts at $46,000, is ideal for off-roading, but there’s a  special Overland edition  if you want something even more rugged.

Inside the Taxa Outdoor Mantis 5.1 Overland

Special Features: —A pop-up roof means you don’t have to sleep in the kitchen if you don’t want to. —There’s a built-in water heater and climate control system with a 8,000 BTU air conditioner. —It comes with a built-in canopy for outdoor hangouts.

The exterior of the Happier Camper HC1

Imagine if you didn’t need a truck or SUV to tow your trailer. You don’t if the caravan in question is Happier Camper’s compact  HC1 . The Los Angeles-based outfit’s smallest model is as light as they come, with a dry weight of just 1,100 pounds, meaning it can be towed by practically any car, even a modern-day Mini Cooper. It features a semi-modular interior designed by Adaptiv that can be customized to fit your camping style—components snap in like Legos—with either a full kitchen or enough sleeping room for up to five people. You can even add solar panels if you want to go off the grid. The $34,450 trailer’s old-school design is also sure to stand out on practically any campground. Even better, no pickups needed.

Inside the Happier Camper HC1

Special Features: —At only 1,100 pounds, it can be towed by just about any car. —The semi-modular floor plan allows you to arrange the interior to accommodate your camping style. —The larger rear hatch opens up space when you are entertaining.

Looking for an RV with Office Space? Here are some top choices!

best travel trailer with office space

There has been a great deal of enthusiasm in RVs for remote employees on the road during the Remote Period of the Modern Era (2020-Present). RV builders have either modified current floorplans or designed new designs to accommodate customers who require office space in their RV to work away from home or while on the road. Individuals have found that motorhomes as well as travel trailers bring work/life harmony to an additional level as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020 and the Great Resignation in 2021. This is a common issue for people who desire to work remotely while traveling. When it comes to working remotely, motorized vehicles provide a variety of RV workplace characteristics. Some even have satisfaction and improve for specific jobs, allowing to create of a more efficient work atmosphere.

It might be difficult to find a floor plan that meets the needs of travelers who want to take to the road and somehow require a specialized workplace where they can make a living possible. Many people think of RVing as a way to get away from work. Yet, with the increased number of digital travelers and remote workers in a modern environment, an RV office has become vital. Because remodeling a place can be expensive and time-consuming, here are seven RVs that already have an RV office prepared for you. Let us investigate!

What Is an RV Office?

What Is an RV Office?

A recreational vehicle office is akin to a home office. It’s a specialized workspace that doesn’t need to be modified on a daily basis.

It can be aggravating to have to unpack work tools every day and pack them back up each night. Because some travelers must use the dining table as their RV workspace, they must pack up multiple times during the day for their household to have meals. Yet, possessing an RV office involves having a distinct place where the desktop computer can be left up, files may be stored in a drawer, and noise is kept to a minimum.

Benefits of Having RV Office Space Built-In

Because an RV office is built-in, no refurbishments are required. It can be enjoyable and thrilling for some individuals to plan and carry out a complete renovation. But, for several individuals, remodeling is both exhausting and prohibitively expensive. These floorplans with RV office space offer travelers back their time.

Also, there are no weight restrictions. Each time you conduct a restoration project, you must evaluate how much mass you are removing and adding. Slides can only support a limited amount of weight. Weight ratings are assigned to entire camps. Weight might be a concern when you start changing things up.

Disadvantages to Built-In RV Office Spaces

Although purchasing a camper with an RV office area is beneficial, there are a handful of drawbacks. For starters, you’re tied with the RV office that the manufacturer set up. Perhaps it isn’t at your chosen location, or you dislike the layout. You may have to remodel them again, or you may have to accept the area as-is. Two built-in RV work spaces indicate that the builders eliminated something else, or you may have to purchase a longer RV than you intended.

When something is placed, another item is removed to keep the space minimal. This might be additional pantry space or a kid’s bunkroom. If the developer has lengthened the RV to accommodate an office, your tow automobile may be unable to draw it. You may also wish to stay under a certain size to gain access to more campgrounds.

10 Best RVs With Dedicated Office Space for Remote Work

Remote workers on the road must have a dedicated RV workspace established in their campervan or travel trailer. Some RVs include specific office rooms, whereas others make it simple to build one up on your own. If you’re not sure where to begin, take a look at these 10 best RVs for remote employees on the road, each of which has an ideal office area for one, two, or three individuals.

Their approach has recently shifted from a backwoods cabin atmosphere to the ever-popular farmhouse vintage style. The knotty pine floors plus two-toned cabinetry are enough to please even the most discerning interior decorator TV personalities.

Bunkhouses are ideal for folks who work on the road. There are numerous creative ways to use the bunk room as an office area. The bunkhouse of the Heartland Trail Runner 30RBK readily serves as an office as well. The private bunkhouse is situated at the rear of the coach and contains a dinette that doubles as a desk. Trail Runner 30RBK - Heartland RVs

A tiny entertainment center that can be adapted for office supplies provides extra storage. DIYers can convert the open storage capacity into a third RV desk by adding an extension that is appropriate for a keyboard. This 35-foot camper is divided into three sections. Your workplace area will be quiet and distraction-free because of the confidentiality of the doors and the separation between the bunkroom/office and the remainder of the living space. The bunkhouse effortlessly converts from a workplace to a sleeping room during the day. The Heartland Trail Runner is an excellent choice for RVing families with work-from-home requirements.

Jayco Jay Flight 33RBTS

Jayco Jay Flight 33RBTS

  • UVW: 8,600 lbs.
  • Tongue Weight: 1,090 lbs.
  • Length: 37.10
  • GVWR: 10,950 lbs.
  • CCC: 2,350 lbs.
  • Sleep: 5-12

Jayco Jay Flight 33RBTS

The Jay Flight 33RBTS as well as its sister coach, the 324BDS, are Jayco’s greatest travel trailers featuring office space. With the TV outlet and coax cable connector easily positioned near the dinette, we believe the 33RBTS is the superior choice for computer connectivity. The bunkhouse dinette can simply be used as a workspace. If you want a more traditional workplace, you might remove the back dinette and substitute it with your preferred desk. If you desire a proper desk, the 324BDS is also an option to consider. The TV and internet connections are on the camp side, which is less handy for your workspace. Having said that, the J-cube sofas in the bunkhouse are simple to remove, regardless of the most inexperienced DIYer.

2020 Jay Flight - 33RBTS | Jayco, Inc

Any of these Jaycos is a great option for a travel trailer with perfect office space. The one you favor is entirely subjective. Prior to the RV office space revolution, the bunkhouse dinette fell out of favor in the mid and late 1990s. Yet, Jayco Jay Flight saw fit to maintain the feature in certain of their lineups. Hence, if you come across a used model with a bunkhouse dinette, seize the opportunity before it’s gone.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is a large travel trailer required for workplace space.

Many RVers may believe that in order to commit room to an office, they need a huge travel trailer. But, when considering how to include office space into your travel trailer, it’s vital to look beyond the box.

If your RV is equipped with a desk, you’re one step ahead. If you want to convert a travel trailer into an office, contemplate space-saving options like standing workstations or wall-mounted murphy tables.

Because people can’t sleep as well as work at the same time, converting a bedroom into an RV office is another excellent choice. Even the smallest travel trailers can accommodate an RV office area in a variety of ways.

Is a Toy Hauler Garage a Good Place to Work?

Toy hauler carports have always fascinated RV DIYers as spacious, open, yet independent living spaces. These garages are wonderful blank slates from which to build your ideal RV office area.

Since many toy hauler garages include HappiJac sofas, they are particularly suitable for office adaptations. The sofas are simply removed, and the brackets that remain serve as great desktop supports.

Ramps as well as D-ring tie-down brackets are also included in toy hauler garages. There is no better place to move in and protect heavy work furnishings and machinery. A door separates most RV toy hauler garages from the remainder of the travel trailer. This type of mobile trailer office area will be free of interruptions.

Can You Simply Work From Your Dinette?

One could set up a laptop at the dinette and function from that, but it’s not ideal. The dinette spaces are small. There won’t just be room for all of your computer devices unless you utilize a laptop PC or computer monitor.

Dinettes are also commonly found in the center of every camper’s living space. As a result, they are one of the noisiest and most stressful work environments.

If you and your loved one simultaneously work from the road, a dinette will almost probably not provide adequate space or privacy. As you might expect, noise and privacy issues grow dramatically with children.

To make unnecessary wrist injuries, utilize an ergonomic laptop stand as well as other supports. Understand that the dinette is intended for eating, not functioning.

While many campers choose the outdoors to somehow get out of the workplace and off of the display screens, emails, and messages, others must carry their job with them.

They could very well be full-time travelers or individuals looking to travel for several weeks at a time. A built-in RV office is a great convenience. It aids in storage options and reduces the time-consuming task of packing up equipment every day.

Do you travel with your work? Do you have a specific RV office? The design is intended for eating rather than working. If you have been looking for an RV where you can take all you office supplies to, then hopefully, we have provided some few picks and options that are well-suited to your preference.

The Best RV for Working Remotely

best travel trailer with office space

Trying to determine the class of RV best suited for working remotely depends on several different factors. Are you comfortable working on any surface, such as the dinette? You’ll need a place to sit and a convenient outlet to plug in your laptop or devices. Or would you rather have a designated office area that doesn’t have other uses throughout the day?

Every RV class has its advantages for the remote working professional. Here are a few.

Advantages of a Small Camper for Remote Work

Pop-Ups and Small Campers . Since space is limited in pop-ups and small campers, it’s not uncommon to find furniture that morphs into other functional furniture. Create or store a fold-down desk inside one of the cabinets for quick and easy access when it’s time to clock in, then tuck it all away once you clock out again. Out of sight, out of mind.

Advantages of a Travel Trailer for Remote Work

Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheels . Many travel trailers and fifth wheels have a desk included in their floorplans already. Whether the desk is in the rear of the RV inside the primary bedroom or located in the kitchen with built-in cabinets above, the office is essentially already in place and waiting for you to set up shop.

Advantages of a Small Motorhome for Remote Work

Class B and Class C both have convenient table options, whether in the form of moveable sofa tables or dinette seating, the best space to work in is the great outdoors itself. Who doesn’t love an office with a view? Extend the awning and take your work outside, when weather permits. Take advantage of the best part of working from an RV – the ever-changing view.

Advantages of a Class A or Toyhauler for Remote Work

Class A and Toyhaulers have plenty of room to spread out. If you’re looking for a designated contained office space inside your RV then it’s wise to consider a class A or Toyhauler. Both have the space for an office that is separate from the main living area, whether in the form of a slide-out or garage, to give you adequate separation of space.

What Makes a Good RV Office?

Woman Working Remotely on Laptop from RV Sofa

Before choosing the best RV for working remotely, we recommend nailing down what exactly makes an RV office a good RV office. Setting up an RV office is simple once you’ve nailed down what works for you and what doesn’t. What do you require of the space and what are you willing to compromise on?

A few tips to keep in mind when creating your RV office:

  • Set up your workspace as far from your bed as possible. There’s no need to confuse your body by working where you rest and resting where you work. Your productivity level, and your back, will thank you.
  • To ensure your internet connection is as fast and as reliable as possible, look into WiFi systems and boosters . Using your cell phone as a hotspot is sufficient for a quick meeting, but it shouldn’t be considered a long-term solution.
  • Consider going solar with your setup so you can always charge your computer and other accessories. There’s no reason you can’t put the RV to work as an office tool.
  • Designate a hard surface, such as a desk, table, or laptop stand, to hold your computer. Working with your laptop in your lap will be hard on your neck and back over time.
  • If possible, set up your RV office with a view of the outside. In the event you can’t take your work outside, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy the view.

While there are numerous RVs on the market that are great for working remotely, here are a few of our favorites that are sure to have any cube-dweller desperately wishing they could trade in their rolling desk chairs for some time on the road instead.

The KZ Durango provides all the comforts of home but now, thanks to their full-timers desk option , this fifth wheel also provides the comforts of the office. By replacing their standard legless dining table and chairs with a desk that comfortably fits two people, working remotely from this RV is a luxury. 3 Great Class A RVs With Office Spaces (with Pictures!)

' src=

For many RVers, whether they live in their motorhome full time or travel frequently, they add “office space” to their list of needs for their RV.

If you are one of those RVers that need an office space in your Class A RV, then this article is for you!

We have listed the best Class A RVs that have an office space for your working needs:

Table of Contents

1. Tiffin Open Road Allegro 36UA

best travel trailer with office space

The Tiffin Allegro 36UA has been designed for MORE:

  • M – Maximum Space
  • O – adaptedOptimal Organization
  • R – Relaxation Plus
  • E – Elegant Atmosphere

This RV is a bit shorter than most Class A motorhomes, but it does not lack space.

The Tiffin 36UA offers a versatile floorplan that is easily adaptable to living, sleeping and working, especially if you live in this motorhome full-time.

The booth dinette offers additional sleeping space if more family members have joined you. Still, you can choose the option of a free-standing dinette that has a computer workstation if you need an office space that works for you.

Next to the dinette, there is a large sofa bed and an angled entertainment area where you can choose to have a fireplace fitted. You will stay warm while working in this Class A motorhome.

There are two bathrooms in the Tiffin 36UA. The second bathroom features a toilet, sink, and vanity with spacious overhead cabinets.

Additional features for the Tiffin Allegro 36UA include:

  • An overhead sleeping bunk above the driver’s cab area
  • A stackable washer and dryer in the bathroom of the main bedroom
  • A ducted furnace system
  • Extraordinaire air conditioning system
  • A spray rinser in the kitchen sink
  • Three-burner cooktop and a double-bowl stainless steel sink
  • Handcrafted cabinetry
  • Leather furniture
  • European-style driver’s area

2. GlamperRV

best travel trailer with office space

The GlamperRV is not the most well-known brand for motorhomes, but they have entered 2020 with a Business Line model that converts RVs into a luxury mobile office space.

The brand is starting to see a rise in popularity and has identified a need in the market for flexible home offices.

This is what lead them to the development of the new GlamperRV Business Line Class A RV.

This brand does not build its RVs from the ground up. Instead, they find “base models” that they redesign and customize to create their own line of RVs.

The GlamperRV Business Line is versatile and offers a mobile office, a weekend warrior getaway RV, and a luxury hotel.

The Business Line has a large central desk, several USB and plug sockets, WIFI, and LED lights. There is even a Nespresso coffee machine to keep you going while you are hard at work.

There are two closets on either side of the bed instead of conventional nightstands. The taller storage space allows you to keep your suits neatly pressed and wrinkle-free.

An additional drop-down double bed is also available if you have more guests or family that want to stay over for a night or two. The Glamper RV can sleep up to four people comfortably.

Additional features of the GlamperRV Business Line include:

  • Blackout curtains line the windows
  • Garage space for bikes and other “toys”
  • An inverter powers all the onboard amenities

3. Winnebago Adventurer Class A 36Z

best travel trailer with office space

The Adventurer’s lounge area offers ample seating for easy work days when you need to get some work done on your laptop.

The dining table converts into a classic desk, and there is a lot of storage space available for your office equipment.

The MCD solar blackout roller shades will create an ideal indoor working space and offer privacy and adjustable lighting.

Three slide-outs open the living area and the bedroom space to make this RV feel like a home away from home.

The kitchen offers full amenities, as well as a residential refrigerator. If you have not converted the BenchMark dinette into an office space, you will enjoy eating on the Hi-Lo table.

When you are not working, there is an outside entertainment area for you and the family to relax beneath the power awning and watch TV and DVDs.

You can cook outside using the Tailgate package that offers a portable grill, folding stand, ice chest, and a stainless steel sink.

The Winnebago Adventurer has been built with safety in mind with its exclusive steep SuperStructure and Ford F53 chassis. The custom holding tanks help improve weight distribution, offer more storage space and better handling.

Additional features include the following:

  • 5,500W Cummins Onan Marquis Gold gas generator
  • PowerLine Energy Management System and solar panels on the roof of the RV
  • A cold-water purification system
  • Electric fireplace
  • 50″ HD TV
  • Tailgate package
  • Promera-covered furnishings
  • Three-burner range top in the kitchen
  • Versa driver’s seat

Creating Your Own Office Space:

Unfortunately, most Class A RVs do not come with dedicated office space; this may require a customized floor plan .

Many RVers have worked from a dining room table or a picnic table outside, but these areas are not ideal.

Private office space is a must if you want to avoid moving your work set-up every day. If your RV does not have a dedicated office space, you can get creative and make your own area work comfortably and in private.

Bunkroom Conversion:

If your Class A motorhome has a bunkroom that you are not using, especially if you do not have children, then you can convert that area into a workspace that will set you apart from the rest of your motorhome.

Converting your bunkroom will also offer you privacy since most of these spaces have a door to drown out any noise from the living area.

Some Class A RVs that have a bunkhouse includes:

  • Winnebago Forza 38R
  • Tiffin Allegro RED 38 QBA
  • Fleetwood RV Excursion 35E
  • Holiday Rambler Admiral 32H

Living Room:

Not all Class A motorhomes have a bunkroom, but there is a living room.

You can get creative and make an office nook right in the main living area of your motorhome.

Unfortunately, this option does offer less privacy compared to that of a converted bunkhouse, but it does work as a stable working area.

Many RVers convert their dining room table into an office desk if they do not use that space to eat.

A Bedroom Office:

Of course, the master bedroom is not a space you can lose, but many people have converted a small section of the master bedroom into an office space.

This option is ideal because it offers privacy behind a closed door, and the limited space can be managed with a fold-down desk that is mounted to the wall. Another idea is to place a desk inside the closet space.

While some people use the edge of their bed as their seat, you can use a folding chair that can be tucked away neatly.

Final Thoughts:

Despite more than 90% of RVs not having a dedicated office space, you will be pleased to hear that you can claim those expenses as a tax deduction if you are using your RV as an office.

If your Class A motorhome does not have its own private office, get creative, and make your own dedicated workspace using your available amenities.

Converting a bunkhouse is a great idea if you are not going to use bunk beds; this will allow privacy and space.

Of course, if having an office is a primary focus, then the GlampingRV Business Line is an excellent option for a mobile office where you can live full-time or stay on the road and work.

Let’s see the list of the Best Travel Trailers for Full-Time Living that we recommend to you and why we choose them.

Best Small Travel Trailers for Full-Time Living for a Single Person or Couples

  • Terra Rover Travel Trailer by inTech: Best Small Camper to Live in 4-Season
  • Alta LE 1600MRB: Small Travel Trailer by East and West RV

Terra Rover 4-Season Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living

inTech Terra Rover Travel Trailer, available in the USA and Canada, is a lightweight fantastic trailer for single people and couples pursuing full-time camper living during the 4-seasons.

The main difference between Terra Rover and the rest of the travel trailers suggested in this article is the structure, materials, exquisite interior design, and how well-prepared this travel trailer is for a 4-season full-time living.

Buying a four-season-ready RV for full-time living offers numerous advantages, such as making it possible (and easy) to live safely and comfortably during severe weather. Foremost, it reduces energy consumption and provides cost-effective insulation. Also, it offers flexible living arrangements and the freedom to move and explore different places; because one may live off-grid and reduce dependency on outside resources, it fosters a sense of self-sufficiency and self-reliance. Last but not least, it provides a distinctive and exciting living experience, with chances to explore nature and lead a more eco-friendly and sustainable existence. Definitely, Terra Rover Tby inTech is one of the best campers to live in cold weather .

Even though this travel trailer is meant for 4 people, I would recommend the inTech Rover as one of the best travel trailers for single people or couples for full-time living and establishing their workstation in the front 93″ x 48″ dinette.

Terra Rover 4-Season Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living

Unlike most RVs, the Terra Rover features a bathroom and shower in separate cubicles with its own ventilation. With no slides-out, it’s spacious enough for 1 or 2 people and even the company of your four-legged friend. And at the same time, the dinette can easily be converted into a guest room. With an indoor and outdoor kitchen, it allows you to enjoy your meals and cook in comfort.

Good materials and furniture finishes. Excellent quality and customer service. Lightweight (GVWR 7,500 lbs.) and durable due to the structure and high-quality materials used.

fiberglass Travel Trailer review canada 2023

The capacity of the tanks is adequate for the number of people proposed in this review (fresh water tank of 44 gallons, gray water tank of 39 gallons, black water tank of 39 gallons).

Another advantage that allows full-time living independent of external temperature is that it has a furnace, air-conditioning, water heater, heated underbelly, etc. You get into a Terra Rover and never get out again! Here are some details of the specifications, furnace of 25K BTU, A/C of 15K BTU ducted, water heater of 6 gallons (electric or gas), insulation bubble foil in walls and ceiling, tank insulation heated underbelly, 12v line heaters, tank heat pads, etc.

As if that wasn’t enough, you enjoy a genuine 60″ x 80″ queen size bed in the bedroom, with storage space.

If all this hasn’t convinced you or if this RV brand is new to you, I recommend you watch this video to learn more about the Rover Terra travel trailer by inTech and its possibilities as a 4-season trailer for full-time living.

Terra Rover Travel Trailer video

The only disadvantage I will mention, but I must clarify that it is not necessarily a disadvantage for all RVers who plan to live full time in a camper, is that it is unprepared for a washer and dryer. You will hardly find available space on the floor plan for its installation.

Alta 1600MRB Small Camper to Live In for Singles and Couples

Alta LE 1600MRB by East to West RV is one of the best campers to live in . It is an excellent option for a full-time living travel trailer for a single person or couples looking to work remotely, as the booth dinette offers a great working space area for 2 people with laptops.

As you can see in the floor plan below, this Alta LE 1600MRB Travel Trailer has the propane low-pressure quick connection available for your outside grill to prepare your meals outside under a 14 ft powered awning with LED lights. The exterior also has massive pass-thru storage compartments, a ladder in the back to access the trailer roof, and a shower with hot and cold water.

Small Travel Trailer for Full-Time Living for a Single Person and Couples

At the left of the entry door, you will find a large booth dinette with space to store under the seats and prepared for an optional 32” Smart LED TV. Across from there is a fully kitchen-equipped area with a 3-burner top stove, a large kitchen sink, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, and drawers and cabinets.

The rear full dry bath is opposite the front Queen-size Murphy bed and sofa. The full bath is dry and includes a hand basin, a foot flushable toilet, skylights and vent, a linen closet, and a shower with skylight.

Between wardrobes, cabinets, the exterior storage compartment, and the large dinette, this travel trailer, only 23 feet in length and under 6,000 pounds, offers plenty of space and is perfect for full-time living for a single person or couples.

What Travel Trailers to Avoid for Full-Time Living and Why

Here are the campers to avoid for live in full-time.

Alpha Wolf Floor plans are not recommended for full-time living but are great for traveling.

Although the Cherokee Alpha Wolf line offers excellent value for the price, they are spacious, well-finished, and often our recommended floor plans. In this case, we believe they are not the Forest River floor plans we would recommend for families with children who choose to live full-time in a travel trailer.

Certain features are recommended for full-time living in a travel trailer; an entertainment center in the bunkhouse is essential and gives parents significant advantages in separating activities and privacy. Also, we mentioned earlier how important it is for the booth dinette to provide the right size for the number of people in the RV.

For example, the 2023 Cherokee Alpha Wolf 30RDB-L has two bunk beds in a bunk room. However, no entertainment center is located inside the bunk room. The Alpha Wolf 30DBH-L has the same issue. So, you will need to jump to the floor plan of Alpha Wolf 33BH-L, which includes the entertainment center appreciated when living full-time in a travel trailer with kids. However, in this model, the dinette is short-sized for only four people.

Don’t get me wrong. Alpha Wolf travel trailers are great for vacation. They are a good choice in other circumstances but not recommended for full-time living.

According to owners, Winnebago Travel Trailers are not recommended for full-time living.

It is expensive, common, and without any of the features necessary for comfortable RV living. Many RVers may have decided on this camper to establish their full-time lifestyle. But if you have the budget, go for other models and floor plans that offer what will be a priority for camper living.

Airstream Travel Trailers: Lack of Comfort for Families

Users after RV renting manifest Airstream Travel Trailers are too expensive without any comfort for a family. You pay for excellent design (if you like something super retro) and the publicity Airstream spends to appear in Hollywood in every movie they can. But you don’t pay for comfort, versatility, and high quality of life. It makes sense because they are not designed for full-time living.

We recently had our chance to rent an Airstream Classic 33FB for a week, a very long 33+ feet and a heavy 10,000 pounds.  Even for a couple like us, with no grandchildren to accompany us on this occasion, both of us working sporadically on our laptops, the cramped interior was tedious. It is impossible to prepare anything other than a simple meal because the lack of space is appalling. The absence of slides-out worsens the circulation, and we are lucky to be slim. Otherwise, using the shower or even sharing the circulation in a corridor is complicated.

How expensive? For 2023, the Airstream Classic 33FB has a starting price of $206,500, and the International 30RB is $137,400, Flying Cloud® 30FB Bunk, suitable for a family with kids, has a starting price of $124,500.

Possible RV Brands to Avoid for Not a Great Customer Service

Chinook RV and Gulf Stream’s top the list of worst customer services in RVers’ forum surveys.

However, any company can change and improve in this area. A couple of years ago, Keystone RV did not offer good customer service. However, they changed radically, and today are one of the best companies with plenty of floor plans to recommend.

We hope you find this article reviewing the 12 Best Travel Trailers for Full-Time Living handy to learn more about the critical decision you are about to take.

25 Mobile Office Set-Ups to Inspire You to RV Full-Time

This post may contain affiliate links. See our affiliate disclaimer here .

I’m a sucker for a good mobile office setup. After traveling full-time for nearly a decade and running a business remotely the whole time, I think I’ve worked from any possible surface. Mostly because 99% of RVs don’t come equipped with a desk or any space resembling a good workstation.

Shout out to all of you entrepreneurs who are taking conference calls at the RV park picnic table!

If you want a mobile office in your RV, you have to get creative, learn how to do a little renovating , and maximize your square footage.

If you’re not a DIY person, a great resource for finding a camper with a desk built-in is RenovatedRVsforSale.com . You’ll find already renovated RVs, many of which already have desks added (like the one below)!

best travel trailer with office space

As we all make do with creating an office space in our home on wheels, we’ve found a few essential items that make the situation’s ergonomics a whole lot better.

Tools & Gear for Creating Your Own RV Mobile Office

Laptop stand.

Save your neck the literal headache.

This is Heath’s favorite laptop stand (we’ve also used this cheaper but bulkier one that is slightly harder to travel with), and he has used it for years. If you are slouching over your laptop, complaining about neck and shoulder pain, and need an fast solution, this is it.

This stand has traveled to multiple countries by plane and RV. Highly recommend. You will need even more gear if you go with a stand, though.

Wireless Mouse

Some people hate trackpads. Or they hate Bluetooth mouses, which can be a pain to connect. Or they hate using a mouse with a cord like it’s 2003.

This USB mouse checks all the boxes (and is available in many colors). We’ve used this mouse for years after our Apple mouse kept giving us trouble. It’s under $20 and super reliable. If you use a stand, you’ll need a mouse unless you want to awkwardly navigate on your trackpad while it’s in the air.

Wireless Keyboard

We use the Magic Keyboard that came with our iMac. It’s small, it’s rechargeable, it’s light and easy to toss into a backpack.

But it’s nearly $100.

You can find  much cheaper keyboards on Amazon , and I recommend any small, light keyboard that works via Bluetooth so you can easily travel with it.

External Monitor

This is the piece of equipment you’ll see most people below adding to their RVs.

We’ve traveled with our iMac in both of our Winnebagos—laying the heavy monitor on the bed during travel for safety. But for most, a lightweight and mountable external monitor is a better option.

Plus, you can simply unhook your laptop and head to a coffee shop if you want to get out of the rig. That is not so easy with a desktop computer! External monitors are great for running multiple screens simultaneously and keeping your workspace a little more comfortable for your body.

Other recommendations:

Standing Desk : We used a piano stand and a large cutting board as a makeshift standing desk for a while. It worked great, though it was a bit wobbly. If you ask me, standing desks are crazily overpriced, but you can find collapsible laptop stands for musicians on Amazon  for a quarter of the price.

Airpods :  Heath has raved about Airpods for years, and I’m now on board. Mine aren’t noise-canceling, but the fact that whatever I’m listening to pauses as soon as I remove an Airpod is SO BRILLIANT. And handy.

Portable Table : If the couch if your best workspace, we loved this little table! It scoots under the couch easily and is big enough to host your laptop and lunch (clearly speaking from experience here.) The height is adjustable, but it doesn’t get tall enough to be used as a standing desk.

Those are the biggest ways we’ve seen RVers adapt their workspace to be a little friendly to the body and the small space. It’s a challenge that all RV entrepreneurs love to tackle, so we asked our Facebook group to share their mobile office set-ups to inspire you.

Below are our top 25 picks, ranging from stand-up desks to custom build-outs to folding tables and couches. There’s no one way to set up a desk in an RV, and these pioneers prove it!

Heath, the king of many offices

Heath cracks me up because he has made so many different mobile office setups in our Winnebago! There’s the removal round table in the front of the rig.

Then there’s the standing desk we made, the fold-out desk built into the Winnebago in front of the passenger seat, the dinette, and, of course, a picnic table!

Back in our Winnebago Brave, Heath would use all five of these desk setups on any given day because he can’t sit still. He likes to bounce around.

mobile office desk setup winnebago forza

This year we moved into a 2020 Winnebago Forza 38D, which has a dual desk setup that has been a game-changer. As I said, 99% of RVs don’t have desk space. We chose this RV because it falls in that one percent. I love having that separation between a workspace and the rest of the house. Plus, having any space at all that is dedicated solely to being an office is pure luxury.

Now that you’ve got the desk, you only need a job you can work from anywhere !

Aren’t they amazing?? I’ve got serious office envy over here.

Those are some great setups. Almost makes you want to work – almost.

Great post. I love “looking” inside peoples campers. We’re finally taking our camper out next week. I’ll post a picture of our office setup while we’re out.

Haha yes sometimes the best part of RV parks is getting to peek inside everyone else’s rigs!

Keepin’ it real… Awesome Post!

These pics are great!! I really love a whole bunch of them. I adore about everything from Mountain Modern Life. Such fantastic style. You are a cute mess at least. Thanks for a great posts.

Hahaha, well thank you 😂 but yes Mountain Modern Life looks gorgeous!

Very nice pictures! The beauty of RVing is that it takes you into the nature. So just having a laptop and a folding chair is usually all what needed for a true mobile office.

The complicated set ups are usually counter productive, as one mentioned below ” it almost makes you want to work” and inside.

Keep it simple – that’s why we are RVing…

Very true! But I think most of us want to and enjoy working in our RVs because it allows us to go more places and get out into nature more often!

Awesome pics! We pulled out the recliner and installed a big deal made out of a scrap piece of butcher block. It’s right in front of a big window. Awesome-sauce!

Thanks for the inspiration! I was afraid I’d have to give up my beloved DXRacer chair when we get our 5th wheel, but I see others on wheels. I’d be curious how they secure their rolling chairs…

Bungee cords! Or tossing them on the bed 🙂

Thanks for the tip!

Love the inspiration and it’s fun to see some of my favorite mobile office spaces in this post, including ours, woo-hoo! The only downside to our living room office is that we have to spend two minutes putting it away or setting it up, which means on my super lazy days I just work at the pop-up desk in the bedroom, haha.

Haha it’s funny how big of a difference those two minutes make! I have definitely spent many mornings with my laptop in bed because that’s just SO much easier!

I’m surprised there weren’t any bunk removals. That’s the direction we are leaning. But have till spring to figure it out.

Well there’s a couple school buses in there, so there were a few that started out with empty buses and built out their whole layout!

Great office ideas, thanks for compiling and sharing!

Thanks Shane! 🙂

Just stumbled on this blog because I Googled “why don’t RVs have office space?” As a video editor I need to set up and LEAVE IT…until I move again 🙂 I wish I just used a laptop…but my office setup will be a little more complicated. Thank you SO MUCH for this post and the inspiration. I’m just beginning my journey of research to see if this is indeed something I could do. I hope RV designers take this trend seriously and actually start designing workspaces! RVs aren’t just for the retired anymore. Thanks again for your blog! Great information! Happy travels!

Hey Wendi! I do video editing on the road as well and just takeover our dinette table with a desktop computer. When we’re driving, we lay it down on the bed so it’s protected. 🙂 So glad you enjoyed the post! We actually had Winnebago come out to our conference last month and they interviewed entrepreneurs on how to integrate workspace into future RVs. It will be cool to see what they come up with!

That’s amazing and such great news!! Thanks so much for the tip! I will remember that. I’m so happy I found your blog! Thanks again!

So when I heard about under-desk treadmills and walking pads that could keep me active while I work at home , I was immediately intrigued. More compact than traditional treadmills, these finds can conveniently fit in your home office and give you your daily steps – and some even have the capabilities for a run. From the foldable and compact, to designs with removable phone mounts and desks, these are the best walking pads and under-desk treadmills for your home office space. I've broken down the factors to look out for, and highlighted the specs for each device, so keep reading.

What Should You Consider When Shopping for Under-Desk Treadmills & Walking Pads?

Buying an under-desk treadmill or walking pad can be an investment, so there are a few specs that you should factor in before you purchase.

  • Size:  Getting a walking pad or under-desk treadmill that fits your home office space is key. Take a close look at dimensions, the weight capacity, and how much the device weighs (especially, if you plan on moving it to make room for a chair).
  • Speed:  If you plan on running and jogging in addition to walking, you'll want a sturdier machine that has a higher max speed.
  • Features:  Some machines include app connectivity and touchscreens, while others include desks, phone mounts, or incline abilities, so look for any special features that appeal.

With the right furniture, small living spaces can feel just as cozy as larger ones. The best couches for small spaces are petite enough to fit in a studio apartment, den or home office, but they’re still comfortable to lounge and hang out with a guest or two. Our top choice for most people is the Pottery Barn York Square Arm Slipcovered Sofa , which comes in several sizes and more than 100 fabrics, letting you customize the design to fit your décor.

The best couches for small spaces offer comfort without taking up too much room.

“If you have a small space, look for something both cozy and functional,” recommends interior designer Steven Graffam of Stivale Graffam Home , adding that “multi-functional sofas are always a smart move for a small space.” Graffam also suggests trying out couches in person whenever possible and ordering fabric swatches—especially if you’re purchasing a custom-made piece. To help you narrow down your search, we’ve rounded up the best couches for small spaces that are well-constructed, comfortable and stylish.

It has a mid-century inspired design with tapered wooden legs and tufted back cushions, and it comes in four colors, including bright shades of blue and yellow to liven up any room. The sofa is large enough for two people and can support up to 500 pounds, and its foam cushions are comfortable yet supportive. Just note that it does need to be assembled upon delivery.

Best Sleeper Sofa For Small Spaces

A classic style with a pull out memory foam mattress, pottery barn cameron sleeper sofa.

Length options: 53, 71 or 85.5 inches | Dimensions: 53-85.5 x 35.5 x 38 inches | Fabric options: Boucle, linen, basketweave, chenille, plain weave, twill, velvet or suede | Seat fill: Polyester-wrapped foam | Color options: 100+

  • Twin and full sizes available
  • Gel-infused memory foam mattress
  • Pop-up headrest while mattress is pulled out
  • Shallow seats aren’t ideal for lounging

Sleeper sofas typically have a queen-size mattress inside, but if you’re looking for a smaller option, the Cameron Slope Arm Sleeper Sofa is available in twin and full sizes. The twin size is just 53 inches wide, so it’s more of a large armchair than a true sofa, while the full option is 71 inches wide. No matter which option you choose, the inner mattress is made from gel-infused memory foam that fluffs up when you unfold it, and the sofa also has a pop-up headrest that lets you lounge in bed more comfortably. Like most Pottery Barn pieces, this sofa can be customized in a wide variety of fabric options, and its loose cushions can be rotated easily.

Best Modular Couch For Small Spaces

An extra-plush option designed for apartments, sundays movie night three-piece modular sectional.

Length options: 76 or 90 inches | Dimensions: 76 x 76 x 32 inches | Fabric options: Cotton blend | Seat fill: Feather-fiber blend | Color options: Brie, cream, light pebble, oatmeal, clay or dark shadow

  • Stain- and liquid-resistant fabric
  • Only available in neutral colors

For a comfy sofa that you can rearrange to fit your needs, you can’t go wrong with the Sundays Movie Night Modular Sectional. The three-piece sofa is designed with apartments in mind, and it includes two cozy corner pieces and a matching ottoman. It has deep, plush seats that are filled with a feather-fiber blend, and comes with four cushy throw pillows for added comfort.

This modular sofa is available in several neutral colors, and the brand’s signature performance fabric is stain- and liquid-resistant, helping to keep the couch looking like new. Plus, it has a slipcover that can be removed if you ever need to give it a more thorough clean, and the cushions are reversible for more even wear.

Best Slipcovered Couch For Small Spaces

A casual yet cozy option with a removable cover, pb comfort roll arm slipcovered sofa.

Length options: 68, 76, 82, 92 or 102 inches | Dimensions: 68-102 x 38.5 x 37 inches | Fabric options: Boucle, linen, basketweave, plain weave, twill, velvet or suede | Seat fill: Memory foam or down blend | Color options: 100+

  • Several couch sizes to choose from
  • Easy-to-remove, replaceable slipcover
  • Extra-deep, comfortable seats
  • Certain fabrics have a more lived-in appearance

If you have children, pets or just a hectic household, a product like the PB Comfort Slipcovered Sofa makes it easier to keep your furniture clean. This design is great for small spaces, as it comes in several sizes starting at 68 inches wide, and it has a removable slipcover that’s often machine-washable, depending on the fabric you choose. The brand also sells replacement covers so you can refresh the look of your couch as needed.

This small sofa has extra-deep seats for lounging, and you can choose between memory foam or down blend cushions, depending on how much support you prefer. The loose cushions can be rotated as needed, and a piping accent around the edges gives the design a stylish yet timeless appearance.

Best Leather Couch For Small Spaces

A best-selling option inspired by mid-century style, article sven leather sofa.

Length options: 72 or 88 inches | Dimensions: 72-88 x 38 x 24 inches | Fabric options: Polyester blend, leather or velvet | Seat fill: Foam and fiber | Color options: Chocolate, tan, black or blue

  • Reasonably priced for a leather couch
  • Sleek mid-century design with roll pillows
  • Matching ottoman available
  • Some assembly required

The Sven Sofa is a well-priced option for small spaces, especially considering it’s upholstered with full-aniline leather. There are four leather hues to choose from, and the sofa comes in two sizes as well. The design has a tufted seat cushion and tapered walnut legs for a silhouette inspired by mid-century style, and it comes with two round bolster pillows. This sofa is also available in regular upholstery fabric and a few velvet options. It does ship unassembled, which is handy for getting it into a small living space, but can be more labor-intensive.

Most Comfortable Couch For Small Spaces

A super plush sofa with low-profile seats for lounging, west elm bleecker down-filled slipcover sofa.

How We Chose The Best Couches For Small Spaces

To find the best couches for small spaces, we sorted through hundreds of options, including regular sofas, loveseats and even small sectionals.

  • We looked for top-rated and best-selling products from brands we know and trust, including Pottery Barn, West Elm, Interior Define and more.
  • We looked for sofas that come in smaller sizes, prioritizing options under 70 inches wide to fit in tight spaces.
  • Other features we looked for include a variety of fabric options, easy-to-clean cushions and durable frames that can withstand regular use.
  • To find the best options for smaller homes, we relied on our team’s firsthand experience testing a range of couches, including the Pottery Barn York Square Arm Slipcovered Sofa and Interior Define James Loveseat .
  • We aimed to provide a variety of options to suit different décor styles, material preferences and budgets.

What To Look For In The Best Couches For Small Spaces

Size constraints can make deciding on furniture more difficult—especially when it comes to big ticket items like couches. To find the right sofa for your small space, these are the factors to keep in mind.

When you have limited space, it’s important to find a sofa that’s proportional to your living area. It’s always a good idea to create a mock-up of the couch within your room to see if it’s too big or small—you can do this using painter’s tape on the floor or even pieces of cardboard.

In addition to the overall dimensions, be sure to measure the size of your doorways and stairwells to make sure the sofa will fit into your home. There’s nothing worse than having to return a piece because it won’t fit through the door frame.

You also want to find a design that matches your décor style, whether it’s traditional, contemporary, mid-century, farmhouse or another aesthetic. A more classic couch like the Pottery Barn York Square Arm Slipcovered Sofa can usually be incorporated into any type of home, while more contemporary designs like the West Elm Bleecker Slipcover Sofa are a bit more limiting.

In addition to the overall silhouette, be sure to look at features like the fabric options and other design details: “For small sofas, the devil really is in the details,” says Graffam. “Fabric quality, welting or stitching details make a big impact on a small sofa.”

Special Features

According to Graffam, multi-functional furniture is beneficial for smaller living spaces, so you may want to select a couch that offers special features like a pull-out mattress or a modular design. The added functionality of pieces like the Pottery Barn Cameron Sleeper Sofa will help you make the most of your space.

Other features you may want to consider include built-in recliners, USB charging ports, replaceable slipcovers or even expandable designs that can be added to in the future if you move to a larger home.

What Type Of Couch Is Best For A Small Living Room?

For small living rooms, a standard two- or three-seat couch like the Pottery Barn York Square Arm Slipcovered Sofa is generally the best option. These sofas give you plenty of space to sit, lounge or even sleep, but they don’t take up as much space as a sectional.

If you want the option to rearrange your living room, you might consider a small modular option, such as the Sundays Movie Night 3-Piece Modular Sectional . Designed for apartments, this three-piece design comes with an ottoman that you can move around to create different arrangements based on your needs.
