FUN and EXCITING way to the MEKONG DELTA

"We took the Authentic Real Mekong Delta to Ben Tre tour from Saigon River Tour in April and it was everything we hoped it would be. I really wanted to see and experience the Mekong Delta during our visit to Vietnam. We could have taken one of the many land-based excursions but then we would have been trapped in a van for several hours each way. Instead, we choose the Saigon River Tour and we are so glad we did. We met the boat at the pier in District 1, which was very close to our hotel. Our guide, Rambo, welcomed us on board and we were off down the Saigon River. Rambo told us much about what we were passing as we made our way downriver. He was very knowledgeable about Saigon, the history and what we were looking at. We were absolutely blown away by the amount of boat traffic on the Saigon River and then on the Mekong when we got there. And it made it so much better to be on the river ourselves and be part of the water highway. The excursion on Unicorn Island gave us a nice introduction into life on the Mekong Delta. The tour included a lunch that was unbelievable! So many good foods and so many choices! Then we settled in for the two hour return on the river. And the entire time we just took in the wild adventure that is life on the rivers of Vietnam."

Which is 1 hour far form HCMC by speedboat. You can see urban, ports, mangrove forest on the way to Tieng Lieng Island. And when you are on land, you can find lots of funs. Drink local teas, watch traditional musical performances, see how salt are harvest, and experience herb feet bath. The most important bonuses are the fresh air and the warm welcoming hosts. Visitors are drawn to the ships and boats because they are decked with vividly colored lights. Simultaneously, the light from ships and boats reflects on the water, producing a colorful shimmering landscape.

This festival is the effort of the government to recreate the waterway trade space, preserving and promoting traditional values, especially developing typical tourism products associated with culture and history to attract tourists.

The Ho Chi Minh City Water Festival   also has many other activities such as a painting exhibition, miniature decoration according to the theme of the Water Festival and water sports activities: jet-board parade, traditional boat, tourist kayak, sup boat, sailboat…

At this festival, visitors, especially foreign visitors, will have the opportunity to experience the typical agricultural products of the river region of Vietnam through 20 display booths introducing agricultural products, specialties, regular food stalls, and other activities such as squeezing, writing calligraphy…

The highlight is the space under the boat to display specialty fruits in the regions where the program performs traditional arts for free, such as amateurs, folk songs, and modern music.

Lovely experience; a must do when in Saigon. We took our guests who were visiting and they felt it was the best thing that they did while in Saigon. They organize snacks, drinks (beer on tap), cutlery, crockery, music et al…you don't have to do anything. Plus there is a toilet onboard too

We had a great time. Accommodation was very good although our room at the back was a little noisy due to being near the generator and engine room which I would not recommend ( maybe a discounted price should be offered ). Very well organized and excellent tour manager. Always something on the itinerary even whilst the boat was sailing eg cookery demos, serviette folding, fruit carving, talks, films. I think the cruise could be shortened by a couple of days as a lot of the things we saw were very repetitive ,especially the pagodas! We were the only English guests on board which at times was a little difficult but on the plus side we had our own personal English speaking guides (3 in total at different parts of the cruise) which was fantastic. Chan Seng in Cambodia has to have a special mention for his fantastic knowledge and understanding of English.The food both on board and at restaurants on land was excellent my only complaint was that the drinks were not included in the package which for the price we paid I think they should have been, as most cruises do, ( only a soft drink or a beer were included per person per meal). Overall I would recommend this cruise as we had a lovely time.

Staff excellent. Cabin lovely but situated back of boat and engine noise so loud prevented sleep. Other passengers were warned if this and given a reduced rate. Food and service excellent. Mooring at Phnom Penh for three nights with no view but underside of dock made balcony unusable for almost half of cruise. €1000 refund from Lotus accepted. Tourradar attempt to claim 20% of that disgraceful.

Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City River Festival 2024 begins 31 May

H CM City, 19th May, 2024 (WAM) -- The second Ho Chi Minh City River Festival 2024 will take place from 31st May to 9th June, at Nha Rong-Khanh Hoi Wharf, Saigon Cruise Port, and other tourist venues, featuring a wide range of culture, cuisine, and entertainment activities, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported today.

This year’s festival is expected to turn the southern metropolis into a popular destination for waterway tourism. A signature show called ‘The Story of a River’, the highlight of the festival, will tell the story of historic boats associated with the locality.

The first river festival was held in 2023. More than 6,000 spectators took in five spectacular performances at the event, recreating cultural and economic activities, and lifestyles of river dwellers of Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City about three centuries ago. This was the first time an art show had been performed on a stage built on the Saigon River with a diverse combination of performance technologies and a harmony of entertainment and historical elements.

In a statement carried by VNA, Le Hai Yen, general director of this year's festival, nearly 1,000 professional and amateur performers will participate in the event. The outdoor performance space at Nha Rong Wharf- Khanh Hoi - Saigon Port will be transformed into a large film studio, promising to wow spectators. The festival will tell modern historical stories about the special boats that used to come in and out of the Saigon River, associated with important milestones of the nation.

Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Municipal Department of Tourism, said that the city's tourism sector expects this year's festival will continue to attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists, contributing to the growth of the sector in the time ahead.

Meanwhile, Da Nang has undertaken landscape planning on both sides of Han River, to improve local tourism development. The city will rebuild the area into an urban centre with administrative-political offices, a financial centre, and a gateway to riverside and coastal tourism. The area is also being upgraded to host both national and international conventions and conference centres.

The central city is implementing a nearly VND400 billion (US$15.7 million) project to light up the Han River with horizontal bridges. In 2024, the two banks of the Han River will be the venues for 55 periodic and annual cultural events and festivals organised by agencies, units and localities. The Han River, the "heart"of the city, is blowing fresh air into Da Nang tourism.
