A Quilter’s Guide to Quilt Town, USA (non-quilters can use this, too)

My wife is a quilter. Twenty years ago, she bought the material for a quilt, and just this summer, she finished it up. In fact, she finished binding the quilt edges by hand as we made our way across the Midwest on our 3,800-mile road trip. She was so proud of her accomplishment, and so was I. She was ecstatic to learn that our planned route took us right through Hamilton, Missouri – otherwise known as Quilt Tow, USA.

I am not at all familiar with quilting. Sure, I’ve done a service project or two where I helped tie a quilt. I’ve also made little fleece blankets for our local children’s hospital. But I am by no means a quilter. But I love that my wife is passionate about it and has a hobby she can enjoy. It was fun to see how excited she was as we wandered through all the fabric shops, which are all part of the Missouri Star Quilty Co. – yet another name I hadn’t heard until we stopped in Quilt Town, USA.

So for you quilters and non-quilters alike, here’s a guide to Quilt Town, USA, so you’ll know what to expect as you make your trek to Hamilton, Missouri, in search of fabrics, threads, patterns, sewing machines and more.

Woman shows shopping bag filled with fabrics while visiting Missouri Star Quilt Co. in Quilt Town USA

Getting to Quilt Town, USA – Home of the Missouri Star Quilt Co.

Hamilton, Missouri – otherwise known as Quilt Town, USA – is about an hour drive northeast from Kansas City, Missouri. Take Interstate 35 to Cameron, then head east on Highway 36 until you see the exit for Hamilton. The Missouri Star Quilt Company and all its shops are located a few minutes from the highway.

The fun begins along Davis Street, just north of Berry Street. You’ll see the main building (as seen in the photo above) on the east side of the road. So find a parking spot and you’ll be good to start shopping. There is on-street parking in front of the shops, but there’s also a parking lot on the southeast corner of the Davis Street and Mc Gaughy Street intersection.

Visit the Missouri Star Shops

There’s a reason they call this Quilt Town, USA. There are more than a dozen shops featuring fabrics and supplies from the Missouri Star Quilt Co. Each of the shops feature different designs or patterns of fabrics. For example, one caters to floral designs while another one highlights designs perfect for a nursery. You can spend hours wandering through each of the shops in search of the fabric you need for your next quilt… or next several quilts.

My apologies for not knowing all the quilter’s lingo for what’s what, but they sell fabric by the yard, or you can buy precut jelly rolls (2.5″ strips), fat quarter bundles (18″x21″), layer cakes (10″x10″), honey buns (1.5″ strips), charm packs (5″x5″) and more. 😉 Did I get those right? And these options are available at most – if not all – of the fabric stores in Hamilton, Missouri.

To help keep you from getting overwhelmed, I’ve listed out each of the shops below, with a recommended path for you to take. Start in the main building and be sure to grab a map/guide to the city. Then visit each of the shops to see what they have to offer.

A word of caution: Hold off on buying your fabrics until you’ve visited all of the shops. I’m notorious for purchasing something at the first store I see, then finding something even cooler at a subsequent shop. That said, I guess if you find something better at a subsequent shop, you now have even more fabric to use on future projects. Right? 😉

The MSQC Main Quilt Shop – the one with Missouri Star Quilt Co. on the front – is where you want to start. Since this was our first visit there, we asked the woman at the front of the store for some tips. She handed us a brochure that opens up to a map of downtown Hamilton, Missouri. The map includes all the shops that are part of the Missouri Star Quilt Co., along with a few other arts and crafts stores, general stores, points of interest, restaurants, etc.

The main shop is sort of a collection of what you’ll generally find in all the other shops. They have small sections with a few of the more popular fabrics from the other Missouri Star Shops. Beyond that, they have t-shirts with fun sewing puns and quotes on them, books, lots of patterns, and other items you may need for your next project.

I was glad they also had a public restroom I could use.

After exploring the main shop and studying the map to get a lay of the land, we ventured south along Davis Street to check out the Missouri Star Mercantile shop.

Woman looks for floral fabrics in a store in Quilt Town USA otherwise known as Hamilton Missouri

Missouri Star Mercantile

Based on my tastes in fabrics, this was the shop with the fabrics I liked best. I say that, because my wife’s purpose in stopping here was to get the fabric for a quilt for our bed. She wanted my opinion on the color choices, which I offered. But I also trusted her judgment in what fabrics she selected based on the pattern she had picked out and the picture she had in her head of the finished product.

The fabrics in the Missouri Star Mercantile shop are your more traditional fabric prints. Think of the quilts you see from the 1800s or 1930s (weird that they would stack those two completely different decades together, but they did). If you’re going for a very traditional-looking quilt, I highly recommend visiting this shop in Quilt Town, USA.

Sign in store in Quilt Town USA that says Happiness is a full bobbin

The next store we ventured into is the one we ended up coming back to later. The Florals Quilt Shop is the one with the fabric styles and colors my wife really liked for the quilt she had in mind. She found one that she liked with the colors we had been discussing, and then worked with the store clerk to grab the pre-cut options and the yards of fabric needed for our quilt.

While she was getting all that done, I was wandering the small store, chuckling a little at the creative and punny signs on display. For example, “Happiness is a Full Bobbin” or “Sewing Mends the Soul” are just a few of them. But I’ll let you discover them yourself, and then chuckle on your own with their cleverness.

If you love flowers, then I’m confident you’ll find the floral pattern and color you’re looking for. The store isn’t as big as what you may find at JoAnn’s or Hobby Lobby, but it’s full of florals and I’m told it’s a higher-quality fabric as well.

Batik Boutique

Here’s a new word I don’t think I’ve ever heard – Batik. My wife seemed to be familiar with it, so we went inside to see what fabrics they had at Batik Boutique . Colorful and vibrant are the words I would use to describe these fabrics.

But how is “Batik” fabric colored? Wax is applied to certain areas of the fabric, often in intricate designs or patterns. The fabric is then placed in dye. The solid wax prevents the dye from coloring those fibers, thus they aren’t colored. After the dye sets in, the fabric is boiled and the wax comes off. Kind of a cool process – and if you like vibrant, you won’t be disappointed.

My wife and I were in Hawaii last summer and bought some fabrics there so she could make a sarong. The fabrics here reminded me of what we were seeing across the islands we visited. So if you’re going for that look in your fabrics, this is the store to visit.

Store front to Machine Shed store in Quilt Town, USA, otherwise known as Hamilton, Missouri

Machine Shed

Quilting is much more than just finding color fabrics. You need the tools, machines and threads to make that happen. If you plan to hand stitch the quilt, then there’s no sewing machine needed – and kudos to you for being AMAZING! But if you need a machine or want to upgrade your current one, then Machine Shed is a place you need to visit.

Beyond finding the latest and greatest in sewing machines, you’ll also find notions. To be honest, I had to look up what “notions” were in the sewing realm. They’re the small objects or accessories that you attach to a finished article – like a button or snaps. I love learning new things. 😉

There are several other tools you may need for your project – like scissors. And trust me (or my wife), you need a GREAT pair of fabric scissors. Not some cheap pair from your local convenience store. A pizza cutter is good to have, too… I mean a fabric rotary cutter. You can find those here as well. If there’s a tool or template you need, chances are, this is the store that has it.

If you need threads to use in your machine, then you’ll want to visit this place as well. There’s an entire wall with a myriad of colors of threads. So you should be able to find the one you need for the plethora of fabrics you picked up here in Quilt Town, USA.

Licensed to Sew

If you’re looking for fabrics with your favorite Disney character, Licensed to Sew is a stop you’ve gotta make. But the options stretch beyond cartoon characters. You can find sports team, too. I’m sure my brother would love to have an entire quilt honoring the Denver Broncos. But if football isn’t your ball of wax, you’ll find other sports teams represented – like universities, basketball teams and more.

There are so many options, that you’ll probably find something that interests you – like book characters or movies. There are lots of fun prints to choose from.

The last three shops have all been on the ground level. But the next four shops are found upstairs, so keep reading to see what you’ll discover.

Stairs leading up to more quilting and fabric shops in Quilt Town, USA

Sew Seasonal (upstairs, above Batik Boutique)

Do you get excited for just about any major holiday? Well, Sew Seasonal has the fabric designs for celebrations like the Fourth of July, Halloween, autumn, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, St Patrick’s Day, Valentines Day and more.

The options include more than just the fabric. There are also little kits for various projects. I was eyeing some cool projects like a table runner that’s a snowman. While I think it would’ve been cool, I’m not sure I would’ve used it. It’s just not something we usually use. But if you’re looking for a fun and simple sewing project for one of your kids, then swing into Sew Seasonal to grab a fun holiday project.

Backing and Trims (upstairs, above Man’s Land)

Much like the name implies, the Backing and Trims store is made up of those exact items. Find the fabrics you’ll need for the underside of your quilt. Beyond the fabric, you’ll also find the supplies you need as you work to wrap up your quilting project so you can wrap up in your quilt… See what I did there? 😉

Modern (upstairs, above Machine Shed)

On the other end of the spectrum from what you’ll find a Missouri Star Mercantile are the fabrics you’ll find a Modern . It’s here that you’ll find the latest designer fabrics. But what makes a fabric modern? Well, it’s bold color, innovative prints, high contrast patterns, minimalism, and exploration. Make sense?

If you’re not familiar with the style but are interested in learning more about it, the folks at Modern can help you out. They can explain the way they take the traditional patterns and use the modern fabrics to create something different.

Kids & Baby (upstairs, above Licensed to Sew)

Do you have kids, grandkids or great grandkids? Maybe you have a new niece or nephew, or a friend who has young children and you’re wanting to make a blanket or quilt for them? Well, venture upstairs to find Kids & Baby , and all the fun “young at heart” fabric designs that’ll be perfect for your project. I found some fun blanket patterns that I think my teenage daughter could use as an intro to quilting.

Rows of fabric inside Penny's Quilt Shop in Quilt Town USA otherwise known as Hamilton, Missouri

Penny’s Quilt Shop + Hometown Leather

The next shop is the northern-most Missouri Star Quilt Co. shop on Davis Street – Penny’s Quilt Shop . This is one of the larger stores and has several rows of fabrics. We spent a while in here as my wife tried to find the trim and backing colors that would work with the other fabrics she picked up at the Floral shop. We even consulted with one of the quilters working there to get some guidance. But it came down to the colors and designs that we liked.

Despite all the time we spent at this store, we didn’t grab the fabric from here. My wife ventured back to the Floral shop and found a fabric color and design that she thought would work the best for what she envisioned. So needless to say, there may be a lot of back and forth between the shops as you try to find what you’re looking for. Because it’s not like you can just swing by Quilt Town, USA, the following week if you didn’t grab what you needed. It’s about a 16-hour drive from our home to Hamilton, Missouri.

In the back of Penny’s Quilt Shop is Hometown Leather. To be honest, this shop seemed a little out of place, because I can’t imagine how many quilters would also be looking for leatherwork supplies. But if you happen to be looking for leather, they’ve got you covered.

Man sits in recliner in Man's Land store at Quilt Town USA, otherwise known as Hamilton, Missouri

Non-Shoppers Can Hang in Man’s Land

I had a good laugh when I heard they had a building called Man’s Land. I definitely wanted to check it out as the woman at the main store made it sound pretty awesome. But since I was interested in sharing my opinion with my wife and helping her pick out the fabrics for OUR quilt, I wasn’t interested in hanging out in Man’s Land.

Man’s Land is located on the street level between Batik Boutique and Machine Shed. As you can see from the photo above, there are two rows of Lazy Boy recliners. Near the back, you can see a pool table if you want to give that a try.

And if you think I’m just sitting in the recliner staring at the ceiling, I’m not. There’s a wall with two big-screen televisions showing a movie. It’s a great way to just sit and relax in an air conditioned room.

Although the name may imply that it’s a man-only land, it really is for anyone who may need a break from the shopping. If we wouldn’t have been pressed for time to get to our next stop, I might have challenged my wife to a game of pool. Man’s Land is also great for those uninterested in fabric shopping, leaving those in their group with the ability to run amuck and charge whatever they want to the credit card. Yikes!

Store front entrance to Let's Make Art store in downtown Hamilton, Missouri, otherwise known as Quilt Town USA

Sister Shops for More Crafting

All of the previous stores I’ve talked about are Missouri Star Quilt Company shops. But the area has a few other arts and crafts stores they refer to as Sister Shops.

One Big Happy Yarn Co. is the “must-visit” shop for the crocheter or knitter. You can find the yarn, along with various kits, needles and more to help you create.

Let’s Make Art can help you express your inner artist. They have a wide assortment of supplies, mediums and paints to get you started. You’ll find watercolors and acrylics, or you can get supplies to try some mixed media. There’s also art supplies and ideas for younger artists (kids).

Nancy’s Notions is an accessory shop to help you find the notions (remember, we learned about that word earlier) for your project.

Man snaps a selfie next to the World's Largest Spool of Thread, which is on display outside of Hamilton, Missouri, otherwise known as Quilt Town USA

Other Points of Interest in Hamilton, Missouri

Beyond the rows of shops that line Davis Street, there are some other points of interest in town – or a few blocks away. The guide you pick up at the Main Shop can help direct you to all of them, but here’s a quick rundown on some of those other points of interest:

  • The iconic Welcome to Hamilton Mural, along with two other large murals: Hamilton Train Depot Mural and the Airing of the Quilts Mural
  • The World’s Largest Spool of Thread (as seen in the photo above)
  • The Missouri Quilt Museum (located near the giant spool of thread)
  • J.C. Penney’s boyhood home, along with his library and a museum
  • The original site of the Missouri Star Quilt Company

There are also many other local businesses, including a flower shop, post office, shops, churches, jewelers, a sweets shop, massage spot and more. So you really can spend the larger part of a day exploring Quilt Town, USA, otherwise known as Hamilton, Missouri.

Sneak Peek: BLOCK Magazine Summer 2020

A note from Jenny.

My hope is by the time I’ve written this letter to you and BLOCK arrives at your home, that life will have returned to normal. My hope is the sun will be shining outside your window… you’ll be free to gather with friends and family… you’ll feel comfortable greeting neighbors and walking the dog again, and a trip to the beach might be just around the corner. It’s hard to imagine after weeks of being separated from loved ones and anxiously watching the television, but I have great hope that we’ll make it through…many of us have been spending extended periods of time at home. I am trying my best to view this as an opportunity instead of an inconvenience.

I recently read a quote by one of my favorite people, Fred Rogers, that made me pause. He said, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” It has shifted my mindset and caused me to be proactive. Each day I ask myself, What small thing can I do to help? …

Quilters never cease to amaze me. You make a difference with every stitch and it’s never been more apparent to me than at this very moment. You’re sewing masks by the thousands, you’re making surgical caps for hospital workers, you’re helping friends and neighbors, and you’re a positive influence in your community. Thank you sincerely for everything you do. I feel privileged to be a part of this remarkable global community of quilters. We really can change the world one stitch at a time.

Love, Jenny

Like Jenny (and Mr. Rogers), I believe many of us makers feel grateful to be part of a community that creates – not only quilts, but comfort, inspiration, and kindness. (After all, we are the piece-makers ✌️)

Fun fact: Back in 1889, the women of Caldwell County (now home of Missouri Star) came together to create a “census” quilt. For an entire year, wives, mothers, and children throughout the county helped one another to hand-stitch the names of over 1,000 residents to create a gorgeous hand-sewn quilt that celebrated their entire community.

130 years later, the antique quilt remains a representation of the connections made among a community of quilter’s helping one another to create a beautiful, inclusive piece of art. It hangs inside our Caldwell Country Historical Society, seven miles from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

Much like those whose names were stitched onto that quilt from long ago, when you subscribe to BLOCK Magazine , you subscribe to become a part of a community of makers whose stories become stitched into our hearts! BLOCK Magazine’s upcoming summer issue contains our own stories and the stories of our readers, together building a community of creatives inspired by one another.

Subscribe by our May 25th deadline to ensure you receive the new June issue straight to your mailbox late next month !

Missouri Star Shop Feature: Mercantile

As a woman in the modern world, my femininity sometimes craves the more elegant, lady-like ways of the past. I would love to enjoy a Friday night dinner in a nice evening gown or stroll into my local grocery store in a long Victorian dress without being given strange looks.

However, there are things I wouldn’t want to endure from those times like wearing cages to keep my dress looking fluffed and tight corsets that crush my ribs. No, thank you.

So I don’t want to live in the past ALL the time, but when I do, I go to the Missouri Star Mercantile .

Missouri Star Mercantile

Missouri Star’s Mercantile shop is filled with 1800’s reproduction and 1930’s textiles . Reproduction fabrics represent the colors and prints popular during the Civil War and end of the fur trade eras. Our 1930’s fabric recreates the sacks in which flour and potatoes were sold during the Great Depression. These food sacks became decorative with playful images of flowers, sunshine, and polka dots once companies realized that women had started recycling the gunny sacks to use as dresses, undergarments, and towels.

Place these antique designs into the quilts of today and keep history alive.

missouri star quilt tours

As you wander the walls of Mercantile, you can expect to find fabric by the yard, precuts, tea towels, and vintage-inspired patterns and panels!

Missouri Star Mercantile

Not only will the fabrics of this shop take you on a time traveling adventure, but the designs and decor will have you considering a home remodel inspired by a vintage farmhouse from the past!

Visiting the Missouri Star Quilt Company

Visiting the Missouri Star Quilt Company from a quilter who has been there!

Visiting the Missouri Star Quilt Company

Last spring, the Missouri Star Quilt Company held their first ever Academy.  I hadn’t been quilting very long, but I knew the amazing story of how Jenny Doan revitalized the midwestern town of Hamilton, Missouri by purchasing it’s old buildings and turning the town into a quilting destination.  I HAD to see it for myself!  So, I bought tickets to the Missouri Star Academy, packed my bags and hit the road.  I’m going to tell you right now, I had a blast.

Missouri Star Academy This Way

Missouri Star Academy This Way Sign 2017

The Missouri Star Academy lasted for two days and included make and takes, lectures, trunk shows and workshops.  Plus, you got the chance meet (and get great insight and tips from) Jenny Doan, Tula Pink, The Tattooed Quilter (one of my favorite speakers), and more.  If you’ve never seen/heard one of Tula’s trunk shows, you should.  She’s hilarious.  (Tula’s line includes  fabric , tools and books !)

Jenny blew our minds with different ways to turn half square triangles (and more) to create a ton of different blocks, and of course, her story is definitely worth hearing.  The Second Missouri Star Academy is this summer!  I won’t be able to make it though, because I’ve got to take my youngest to his college orientation.  I’m excited to be doing that, but wish I could fit Missouri Star into my schedule too!

Me taking a selfie

This is me parked at Penney High School in Hamilton, Missouri.  Clearly, I was pretty happy to be there.  This was after a day of Missouri Star shopping.  The high school had some dedicated parking for the Missouri Star Academy.  MSQC sent a shuttle bus to pick us up.

My Missouri Star haul after a few stores, my second day

If you’re wondering if a trip to the Missouri Star Quilt Company would be something you would enjoy, I hope these photos help you decide to go!

If you’re a new quilter, you might enjoy this “ How to Get Started Quilting ” post!

Missouri Star Quilt Company Main Street

I live in North Georgia and drove to get to Hamilton, Missouri to visit the Missouri Star Quilt Co.  It was a great trip for me.  I drove part of the way, spent the night at Harrah’s in Metropolis, Illinois ( saw superman ) and then drove the rest of the way the next day.  I reversed my trip on the way home, staying at Harrah’s again.  That morning, I got up and drove to the National Quilt Museum for a tour .  That was really worth doing.  I truly enjoyed it.  I also stopped by Hancock’s of Paducah, KY .  Both places are a short drive from Metropolis.

Missouri Star Hamilton MO Map

The main street is full of all of the stores and this helpful map.

There are places to eat, buy groceries, do banking and there’s a post office if you need to mail your packages home.

The Main Shop – Missouri Star Quilt Company

Missouri Star iconic sign

The main shop is easy to spot because it has the Missouri Star logo that you’ve seen online.

Train Mural in Hamilton Missouri at Missouri Star Quilt Company

Here’s the main shop from the side.  I really wanted to show you this mural, it’s one of several fantastic murals in Hamilton.  I’ll show you a few more further down in the post.

Missouri Star Quilt Shop

If you start here at the Main Store, you can get a map and sign up for your shopping pass.

Missouri Star Map

There’s no right or wrong place to get started though, but my one big tip is…LOOK UPSTAIRS if there is one.  Some of the shops  (not all, some)  have an upstairs…don’t miss them like I almost did!  Seriously, I was about to leave one day and someone asked me what I thought of the upstairs of one of the shops.  I was like…”whuuuutttt?”

Unpredictable Weather…But…

Missouri Star Quilt Company Pink Umbrellas

Hamilton’s weather can be unpredictable, so you’ll find umbrellas for you to borrow as you go from shop to shop.  That’s so nice!

Wherever you’re coming from, while you’re shopping at Missouri Star, you can get a shopping pass that helps keep up with your purchases.  See that little Ipad looking thing just below the giant Block Magazine picture?  Sign in there.

Missouri Star Quilt Company Shopping Pass

What I loved was that it showed me how far I’d come to get there.  You know you’re passionate about something when you drive for days to get there.  674 miles = worth it!

They Have IN STORE Daily Deals!!!

Missouri Star Merchandise on display

One of my favorite things about shopping in person at Missouri Star is that you can still get the DAILY DEALS!!  Great deals like you’re used to online, but in person.  New deals each day, just like online.  SO (SEW) AWESOME.

Fabric at Missouri Star

This is where I picked up my Missouri Star coffee cup and MSQC Tervis Tumbler…plus more fabric.

Missouri Star Quilt Shop inside

I was looking at these photos and thinking, um…that says Penney’s Quilt Shop … how is this the main shop?  It is.  There are several signs in the Main Shop.

Press to the Dark Side

My running shoes are so blue, but comfy.  You should only wear comfy shoes while touring here.  There is a lot of walking…I mean, if you’re doing it right.  LOL!

Barn Quilt Love

Barn Quilt Trail Book

I took this photo in the Main Store to remind me of the barn quilts that I saw on my drive.  I’d heard that people painted quilt blocks on their barns, but had never seen them until my drive, when I saw three!!  I really wanted to take photos, but when I saw them I couldn’t find a good place to stop.  The memory lives in my heart, because they were fantastic.  Here are some books about it if you’re interested: Following the Barn Quilt Trail and  Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail Movement .  There’s also a cute barn quilt coloring book !

Missouri Star Quilt Window display

By the way, all of the purchases that you make in the store will show up in your online history.  I LOVE THAT because it keeps me from buying duplicates … and reminds me what I have when I look at it.

Penney’s Quilt Shop

Hamilton Missouri Parking

(Penny’s Quilt Shop is down there on the far right.)  Sidewalks make it easy to get from shop to shop.

Hamilton is the boyhood home of J.C. Penney and this shop is named after the store that used to be here.  How cool is that?!  Remember, Jenny and her family have restored these old buildings, so you’ll definitely see remnants of that local history, which I think is wonderful.

The Penny’s store focuses on solid colors.

Robert Kaufman Color of 2017 at Missouri Star

I had to take a picture of this because that quilt was using Robert Kaufman’s pink flamingo color of the year for 2017.  I made a little quilt using it!

Missouri Star Ideas and Pattern Displays

Sorry for the photo overload, but I couldn’t get enough of the amazing design displays.

Don’t you just want to get one of everything?  This store is packed with creative possibility.

Ok, let’s leave Penney’s and go back outside.

Hamilton Missouri Murals

Hamilton Missouri Wall Mural in Progress

When I was in Hamilton, MO on May 23 and 24, 2017 this colorful mural was in progress.  When you go, you’ll see that it has been completed.  This guy is an artist!

Missouri Star Mural in Progress

I apologize to him that I got his rear end in this shot.  Still…amazing mural in progress!  Again, sorry.  I didn’t realize it until later.

Quilt Mural in Hamilton Missouri

You’ll see Penney’s Quilt Shop again on the far left in the distance.  This quilt mural is one of the cherries topping the cake of this charming quilt town.

Quilt Mural

It warms your heart, doesn’t it?  The past, the present, all tied together through the threads of a item made to be passed to future generations.  Beautiful.

Now, scroll back up and take another look at the mural outside of the Main Shop.  Don’t these murals bring so much life to the walls?  They tell such rich stories!

Back to Shopping….

Missouri Star Florals Shop - Floral Fabric Shop

Guess what you find in the Florals shop?  You got it!  Floral fabrics!

Missouri Star Floral Fabric Shop

Do you love the themed shops as much as I do?

Inside the Missouri Star Florals Shop

Themed shops really make it easy to find what you’re looking for, and if you don’t know what you’re looking for … even better.  It’s a great place to dream, plan and wander.

The Missouri Star Mercantile sells reproduction fabrics, like fabrics from the Civil War, the 1930’s and more.

Amazing Rainy Weather Flower Basket Bike Pink Umbrella Window Display

I fell in love with the Mercantile store window.  I don’t know who designs these windows, but they have my awe and admiration.  There’s some reproduction fabric in the hoops.  LOVE!

Missouri Star Quilt Company Man’s Land

Mans Land outside Missouri Star

Are you traveling with someone who’s not that interested in quilting and shopping for fabric?  Perfect.  Drop them off in Man’s Land.  I’m pretty sure that women are welcome too.

Mans Land inside at Missouri Star

Frankly, this place looks awesome.

I didn’t step in for photos as far as I could have, because I didn’t want to disturb the natural habitat.  LOL!

Missouri Star Quilt Company Machine Shed

The Machine Shed at Missouri STar

I fell in love with the different stores, repeatedly.  This, Machine Shed, love of mine has a window of vintage sewing machines.

Machine Shed Sewing Machines in Window at Missouri Star

How I love thee, let me count the ways.  Um…16 ways.  LOL!

Machine Shed displays at Missouri Star

The Machine Shed has new machines and notions.  Be sure to read the wall art too.  “A clean house is a sign of a broken sewing machine.”  Fact.

Inside the machine shed at Missouri Star

Oh, this place is great.  I mean all of these places are great.  All the hearts.

Go Upstairs

quilting stairs

First, admire the stairs.  There’s so much detail at the Missouri Star Quilt Company that you really want to keep your eyes peeled.  Take it from someone who almost missed the upstairs entirely…keep your eyes open, and locate the stairs…these have their own door from the street, but you can also take the stairs from some of the shops.

Stores that are upstairs:  Kids & Baby, Sew Seasonal, Backing & Trims, Modern

When I walked up the stairs into the Sew Seasonal store, I felt like I was in a holiday.

You will love it here.  No holiday seems too far away.

Missouri Star Finish a Quilt

You’ll find tons of seasonal fabric and some great patterns too.  I loaded up on patterns.  Take the wall advice.

Be sure to check out the quilts.  There’s usually some corresponding information leading you to a tutorial or a pattern.

If you don’t already follow her, you can find Jenny’s videos on YouTube .  They’re a ton of fun and super informative.

More good wall advice..and the bathroom.

There’s a whole Modern shop too, which the above pattern is from.  Although my job documenting the store with photos was poor, I did a great job buying from it!  The shopping at MSQC is phenomenal.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what it’s like visiting the Missouri Star Quilt Company.  I highly recommend going there if you’re nearby or planning a trip with it as your destination.  I’m truly looking forward to going again!

Missouri Star Quilt Company Road Trip

Here’s some of the Missouri scenery that you’ll see a lot of if you drive.  On your way through Missouri, keep your eye out for quilt blocks on barns!

Amazing pictures and stories! I’d love to go there someday but I think I’d need about a week. lol.

I think you’d love it!

Thanks for sharing! I’m going this summer and all your pictures have me even more excited to be going.

Oh, I’m so glad, Carmen! I know you’ll have a great time!

GREAT pictures and advice! VIsiting there tommorrow! Thank you!!!

Have a great time! (I know you will!!)

Thank you so much for sharing. I have made a slight detour on my flight plans, and will be going to Hamilton in July, and plan to stay for a few days and catch Jenny’s trunk show. I might have you beat for miles. Coming from Canada.

Going next month. Not sure where to stay for the night yet. So excited to see this! I am more worried about being overwhelmed.

T’hanks for sharing all the photos! We just pulled our RV into the Country Charm RV Park just 1/2 mile from the downtown and will be spending 2 full days in the shops! My husband is a saint! Can’t wait to get started!

I hope you had a blast, Heidi!!

I over heard a group of women talking about a driving down and staying at hotels and I thought’ gees that’s pretty spendy just to see a few quilts shops”. But now after seeing what it all consist of…! Wish I had signed up to go with. Maybe next time!! And I think I will start saving money because some mentioned bringing $1000. May not be enough!! MSQS has so much to offer!

Hi Val! Yes, it’s really a great destination for quilters and sewers/sewists. Wow! $1,000? Ok, yeah, I can see that. LOL! 😉 To be honest though, I didn’t spend but a few hundred. It’s a great place to go, but remember that most of the things can be ordered online, so I’d save my pennies for things that are more unusual there. 😉

Thanks for the pictures and information. I’m so excited to be going in July!

I hope you have a great time, Alice! Actually, I know you will!! 🙂

I am visiting in October with two of my sisters and am very excited. Seeing your photos and blog, I am almost crying with anticipation!

I hope you have a wonderful time, Geri! I’m pretty sure that it will be FANTASTIC! 🙂

What an incredible guided tour of MSQC!! Thanks for all the wonderful pictures & capturing all the great shops. I love it! I was hoping to go next summer…your post just kicked my desire into high gear. Really fantastic.

Thanks for the “tour.” I really enjoyed all the photos and there weren’t too many at all. I’m a fairly new quilter and we are headed to Hamilton next week. I’m not too excited or anything. LOL! We’ll be there on my husband’s birthday and our 55th anniversary. Don’t I have the best husband ever to go along with my request to stop in Hamilton for a couple days on our way to IL?

England Quilt Tour

 May 19 -June 1, 2025

May 19, 2025

You will depart Canada or your home country.

May 20, 2025

On arrival in London, disembark and clear customs and Immigration, collect your luggage and proceed to the arrivals hall. Here you will be greeted by a representative, who will take you to the Holiday Inn London.

The hotel rooms might not be available when we first arrive at the hotel, so this will be a great time to relax and have lunch.

There will be time for you to relax and freshen up before we leave for our welcome dinner cruise on the Thames. This is a fabulous cruise, where you will enjoy the lights of London.

A great way of enjoying dinner as you sail past the iconic sights of the city. From the centre of the river you get a unique view of the Houses of Parliament, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, the Docklands and the Millennium Dome whilst at the same time enjoying first class service, a delicious meal and to complete the evening a live entertainer who signs songs from the West End Musical. (D)

May 21, 2025

Today we will enjoy a textile tour with Antony Robbins. Antony is a Blue Badge Guide, who I have had the pleasure of having on previous tours. Antony loves to show off London beyond the main tourist attractions.

This afternoon we will enjoy high tea at the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at Fortnum & Mason.

Our Tea Salon has been a great many things for over 314 years. It began as an apartment for the Fortnum family, then became an interior decorating department in the 1920s and 1930s, and later an antiques department and a restaurant known as St. James's. Since 2012 it has paid homage to the timeless tradition of Afternoon Tea.

Epitomizing the sophistication of Afternoon and High Tea in all its splendour, our Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon was named in honour of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth's visit in 2012, when she formally opened the room, in the company of their Royal Highnesses the then Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge. And today and every day, it is the perfect place for your Afternoon Tea party. (B, Afternoon Tea)

May 22, 2025

Today we will enjoy a tour of the Royal School of Needlework. The school's renowned embroidery studio creates stunning bespoke embroidery commissions for fashion, art and royalty, as well as expertly restoring and conserving valuable and historical embroidered pieces, restoring historical textiles and bringing heirlooms back to life. Atlantic Tower is located on Liverpool's famous waterfront and is adjacent to the Liver Buildings and close to the Albert Docks and city centre. With a huge array of pubs, clubs and restaurants, a trip to Liverpool will keep you occupied from noon till night. Atlantic Tower has two restaurants, a lounge and a bar offering a wide selection of drinks, light refreshment and dining. (B,L)

You will have free time today to discover Liverpool on your own.

Tonight we will enjoy the sights of the historic Liverpool docks as we dine and cruise on the Floating Grace. (B, D)

May25, 2025

Today we will check out of our lovely hotel and make our way to Gawthorpe Hall.

Gawthorpe Textiles Collection is an internationally renowned collection of global textiles located in the heart of Pennine Lancashire. Founded by the Honourable Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth (1886-1967) the collection was amassed to teach, to support creativity and wellbeing, to support employability, to preserve traditional craft skills and to share knowledge, skills and expertise across cultures.

The Collection is an accredited museum and independent registered charity with an ambition to develop a centre of excellence for textile learning based on its collection of over 30,000 items, one of the largest textile collections in the UK and the only collection of its kind in Lancashire.

This afternoon we will be visiting the Quaker Tapestry Museum. The Quaker Tapestry is a stunning and informative museum located in Kendal. The tapestry tells the story of Quakers in 77 embroidered panels covering over 350 years of social history.

Later this afternoon we will arrive at Lord Crewe Arms Blanchland. This is my favorite hotel on this tour. It is in the most picturesque little village and is so quaint, with so much character. (B, D)

May 26, 2025

After breakfast we will be off on a day trip.

The first stop will be Beamish, the Living Museum of the North. Beamish quilts are famous throughout the world.

The collection of quilts has grown and is now recognized both nationally and internationally as a collection of world importance. We have some 350 quilts, many of which have been exhibited in Japan, USA and all over the UK. Many of the quilts have been published in numerous books on the subject.

This afternoon we will be visiting the Durham Cathedral. We will enjoy a Textile tour of the Cathedral, seeing needlepoint pieces that are over 500 years old.

Part of the Harry Potter movie was filmed in part of the Cathedral as well.

In his lifetime, Cuthbert (635-687) was an influential churchman who was Prior of Melrose and then of Lindisfarne. He was a venerated religious figure, and a successful preacher who was responsible for the spread of Christianity in the North of England. After his death, his grave in Lindisfarne, and the places to which his incorrupt body was subsequently moved – Chester Le-Street and Ripon – became the greatest focus of pilgrimage in early medieval England until the death of Thomas Becket in 1170. Cuthbert's body has been in Durham since 995, and the grave is still a shrine to which pilgrims travel.

Tonight we will enjoy a group dinner when we arrive back at Lord Crewe. (B, D)

May 27, 2025

After a delicious breakfast we will say goodbye to this lovely hotel.

This morning we will be stopping at the Quilters Cupboard. Quilters Cupboard is a family owned quilt shop with a wide variety of fabric and classes.

The North Yorkshire Moor Railway is one of the world's greatest heritage railway experiences with thrills and family fun at its heart. Climb on-board a steam or heritage diesel train and experience 24 miles of Yorkshire's amazing scenery at this must-see visitor attraction.

Whitby Station Steeped in history Whitby is known for its quirky narrow streets and bustling harbour overlooked by the striking ruins of Whitby Abbey. Explore the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, where you can learn about the famous explorer's life or visit the Dracula Experience on the seafront.

Later this afternoon we will be checking into the Hilton York. (B)

May 28, 2025

Today after breakfast we will be joined by local guide who will give us a walking tour of this medieval city.

This medieval city has so much to see, from the York Minster, to the Shambles or walk on top of the wall that circles the old city.

Today we will enjoy a group lunch at The Black Swan.

This afternoon will be free time for you to explore the many sites and visit the unique shops. You can always take a break and visit the potion shop, enjoy the love potion or one of the many other potions they offer. Below are some of the sites to see, you might want to explore on your free time. The following are suggestions to see and not included in the itinerary.

Discover one of the world's most magnificent cathedrals, a masterpiece in stained glass and stone and a sacred space which has been at the centre of Christianity in the north of England since the 7th century.

The Minster was built for the glory of God and this is reflected in every aspect of this ancient building, from the exquisite handcrafted stone through to the unrivalled collection of medieval stained glass.

Marvel at the Great East Window, the largest single expanse of medieval stained glass in the country, take a guided tour filled with stories from the building's 800-year history or visit the Undercroft Museum to explore the remains of a Roman barracks and the cathedral's links to Viking York.

Climb the 275 steps of the Central Tower for panoramic views of the city or take a Hidden Minster Tour to discover spaces normally closed to public access. Additional charges apply.

 2. Walking the Medieval City Walls. A walk round the walls takes about 2 hours and offers an opportunity to see the main features of the walls. There are four main bars, or fortified gateways, two smaller gateways with more modern stonework and one postern (a very small gateway defended by a tower), frequent intermediate towers, and details like windows, arrow-slits and gun ports, sculptures, and masons' marks. There are also good views of many important buildings from the walls.

One section of the medieval walls is in the Museum Gardens, where you can see the best surviving stretch of the Roman fortress wall and the Roman Multangular Tower with medieval stonework above it. Also in the Museum Gardens are the ruins of St Mary's Abbey and the precinct walls around two sides of the Abbey. These walls were built at the same time as the City Walls and are the finest surviving example of Abbey walls in the country.

Walking the trail around the Walls is roughly like walking the edges of a kilometer square. Each side in this square has a grand medieval fortified gateway called a “bar". The trail is divided by these bars into 4 unequal corners.

3. Clifford's Tower. Immerse yourself in centuries of history at one of York's most iconic sites and experience stunning views over the ancient city.

Built to subdue the rebellious north by William the Conqueror, Clifford's Tower has been a royal mint, a medieval stronghold and a Civil War garrison. In 1190, one of the worst antisemitic massacres of the Middle Ages took place on the site of the tower when York's Jewish community were trapped there by a violent mob and many Jews chose to commit suicide rather than be murdered.

Today, a new roof deck gives unrivalled views over York's historic skyline, with its medieval buildings and famous Minster. Inside, new walkways and staircases have opened up parts of the tower that have been off-limits for centuries, and immersive soundscapes and stories are bringing the tower's turbulent history to life like never before.

4. York Castle Museum - come and immerse yourself in over 400 years of York's past.

Come and see hundreds of years of York's history in one place – from recreated Jacobean dining rooms to the world famous recreated Victorian Street, Kirkgate.

Our interactive and immersive galleries hold thousands of historic objects that really bring the past to life, and our exhibitions promise fascinating displays and innovative new ways of learning about York's past.

 Highlights include:

Kirkgate The Victorian street that brings history to life. Step onto the cobbles and visit the authentic shops to discover the weird and wonderful collections from this bygone era - from luxurious costumes to tasty traditional sweets and the pharmacist's unlikely 'cures'. From the luxury of the rich to a darker world of poverty and disease, see how York's 19th Century residents lived, learned and entertained themselves.

York Castle Prison The museum buildings were once a Georgian Prison, and down in the felons' cells lies a disturbing history - a time of rouges, thieves and murders. Visit our infamous residents and hear their stories of rough conditions, crooked justice and harsh punishments... watch out for the most notorious inmate of all - the legendary highwayman, Dick Turpin 1914:

When the World Changed Forever From the recruiting office to the horrors of the front line, experience the objects and stories of the First World War.

Shaping The Body An iron corset, crotchless pantaloons from the time of Jane Austen, bum rolls and a killer dress are a few of the items featured in our latest permanent exhibition which charts the way fashion, food and fitness have shaped the body over the last 400 years.

Toy Stories Take a trip back to childhood and rediscover some of your favourite toys in our popular exhibition.

The Sixties The Sixties exhibition aims to recreate the spirit of this exciting decade which saw momentous change in so many areas of public and private life.

 5. Ramble through the Shambles.

Shambles is one of York's most famous landmarks and one of the best-preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe. With its cobbled streets and overhanging buildings, it is believed to have been the inspiration behind Diagon Alley from the movie adaptation of the Harry Potter series. Although none of the original shop-fronts have survived from medieval times, some properties still have exterior wooden shelves, reminders of when cuts of meat were served from the open windows. The street was made narrow by design to keep the meat out of direct sunlight, but you can readily imagine the Shambles packed with people and awash with offal and discarded bones.

Today, the beautiful old buildings have been restored and now house cheerful cafés, quirky boutiques and even a coin & stamp dealer and the smells are rather more pleasant with aromas from the chocolate, fudge and sweet shops, clothes and accessories and gift shops.

6. Jorvik Viking Centre.

Discover the Original Viking Encounter at JORVIK Viking Centre! Experience the Viking Age by prebooking your visit now!

With its world-famous ride taking visitors around the sights, sounds and smells of Viking-age York, and state-of-the art galleries showcasing our unique collection of 1,000 year old artefacts, visit JORVIK Viking Centre to discover York's fascinating Viking legacy.

7. National Railway Museum.

Escape the day-to-day and join National Railway Museum for a journey through time. Get up close to icons of the rails including Mallard, the world's fastest steam locomotive. Discover how high-speed rail travel began and journey back in time to experience the working life of a station. Explore over 200 years of history and find out how railways shaped our world.

Admire the splendour of royal travel with the world's finest collection of royal carriages, before digging deeper into the museum's historic site in the new audio trail Sound Tracks. (B, L)

May 31, 2025

Built about 1130 by Payn Osmundsen, tenant of Aubrey de Vere. 1256 – 1490 owned by the de Grey family then, amongst others, Edmund Dudley, Henry VIIʼs favourite and Richard Cromwell, Oliver's grandfather.

The beautiful Miss Gunnings, Maria and Elizabeth, were born here in the 1730s. The house had been doubled in size by their uncle. The extension burnt down in 1798.

In the mediaeval Music Room, twice a week all through the war, she gave record recitals to personnel from the surrounding airfields but mostly from RAF Wyton, sometimes to over 30 of them.

Come and feel the atmosphere of 900 years of the past held inside the metre thick stone walls, and hear the 1929 gramophone playing a record listened to by the RAF airmen during WWII.

Lucy Boston bought the house on 31 May 1939 and restored it, as much as possible, back to its Norman original.

Lucy Boston's patchwork collection can be views at The Manor. A visit to the house vies the unusual opportunity to see this world class patchwork collection in the house in which the patchworks were made.

Lucy Hoston's Patchwork of thew Crosses is one of the known best known patchworks in the world.

Later this afternoon we will check into the Hilton London Gatwick Airport.

Hey there! I'm Jenny Doan. I'm a wife, a mother, and a quilter.

Our humble beginnings on a shoestring budget combined with years of hard work, dedication, and unrivaled passion for quilting have brought us to this milestone. In the last 15 years, we’ve gained a massive following in the quilting community with thousands of customers around the world! To celebrate our 15-year anniversary, we have SEW many new and exciting things in store for 2024! Check back in every day to stay in the loop on Quilt Town, USA developments, upcoming events, new product launches, and a birthday celebration unlike any other!

My husband Ron and I started our family in California, where we both grew up. With each passing year, it became more expensive to live there, and then, out of nowhere, our youngest son Josh developed a tumor on his lymph gland. Thankfully he made it through, but the growing medical bills nearly bankrupted us. We decided to pack up & move where the cost of living was lower - and that’s where our adventure begins!

We pulled out a map & pointed to a spot somewhere in the Midwest and said, “That’s where we’ll go!” With a mix of worry and excitement, we packed up our seven kids and drove across the country to rural Missouri. It's clear to us now that this seemingly random choice wasn’t random at all—we were guided to the right place.

The Missouri Star Quilt Company started in Hamilton, a town of about 1,500 charming people. Like many small American towns, employment was scarce—many of our friends and neighbors had to travel long distances or leave the area altogether to find employment. It was disheartening to see the town that we had grown to love filled with abandoned buildings, falling into disrepair.

image

For years, Ron traveled an hour and a half each way to work as a mechanic for the Kansas City Star newspaper. He worked long hours and many night shifts to support our family. As many did, we lost most of our retirement savings in the 2008 stock market crash. To make matters worse, the newspaper industry was declining and we feared that Ron would soon lose his job. Every last dime had gone into raising our family and we weren’t sure what to do next.

The idea for the Missouri Star Quilt Company came out of the blue. Previously, I had designed costumes for the theatre, but when we moved to Missouri the theatre scene wasn’t very big—it was all about quilting! I took a local quilting class and was immediately hooked. I quickly began stitching up quilts for friends and family from whatever fabric I had on hand. It was so much fun! Then, one day I brought in some quilts to be machine quilted at a local quilt shop and I was told I’d have to wait a year for it to be finished. Two of my children, Alan and Sarah, told me, “Mom, if you have to wait that long to have your quilts quilted, there’s gotta be a lot of demand. You should start your own machine quilting business!”

The idea of sewing quilts for a living thrilled me—they say that if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. So, in November of 2008, on a shoestring budget, we bought a small brick building in Hamilton that would fit a longarm quilting machine and the Missouri Star Quilt Company was born! At first, we only offered machine quilting services and sold a few quilt fabrics and quilting supplies. Little did we know that within a few short years, we’d be offering over 30,000 bolts of fabric, along with hundreds of our own quilting patterns, quilt kits, our very own quilt magazine called BLOCK, and a huge selection of precut quilting fabrics!

Shortly after setting up our small shop, we decided to take our new business online. My son, Alan, teamed up with his best friend, David Mifsud, whom he’d met while volunteering as missionaries in Kiev, Ukraine. With Alan's experience running tech-startups out west, David's financial and marketing background, and Sarah’s knowledge of the quilt industry, we had the perfect ingredients to begin our online quilting business. I helped run the quilt shop with my daughters, Sarah and Natalie, while Alan and David focused their efforts online.

Those early days were long, with many sleepless nights. With virtually no money for advertising, we relied on our creativity and ingenuity to help our small company grow. My son asked me if I wouldn’t mind filming some quilt tutorials to get our name out there and I responded, “Sure! … What’s a tutorial?” I soon found myself in front of the camera, teaching quilting techniques to a tiny handful of viewers. That first tutorial video, like a small stone, produced ripples and became the start of something amazing.

Today, the Missouri Star Quilt Company has the biggest quilting channel on YouTube! I never in a million years anticipated becoming a quilting “sewlebrity” with hundreds of quilting tutorials and half a million subscribers. It’s been life changing to share so much of myself with people around the world. I didn’t realize that making quilts would mean so much to so many, but after receiving thousands of personal letters and meeting such kind people wherever I go, I see that it gives people hope. It changes lives and it touches hearts. People are happier when they create and I’m grateful to help them do that every single day.

Making quilting simpler is what I’m all about. Precut fabrics are the building blocks of my tutorials and quilting designs because they make quilting quick and easy, which is great if you’re on a time crunch to get that quilt done for a new baby, wedding, graduation, or any other special occasion. If you’re new to precut fabrics, let me explain what they are. Precuts are bundles of quilt fabric cut into standard shapes and sizes, featuring an array of coordinating textiles from a designer’s fabric line. They even have cute and delicious names like charm packs, layer cakes, and jelly rolls—almost makes me hungry! Using precuts means you don’t have to spend hours picking out bolts of fabric—these little fabric bundles coordinate perfectly.

We’ve also created the ultimate quilter’s experience that many call the “Disneyland of Quilting” right here in Hamilton. Our darling little town now attracts visitors from across the globe. Heck, we just had a bus full of quilters from Australia pull into town who were absolutely delightful! With 12 quilt shops right on main street—each featuring a different fabric theme—you’re guaranteed to find quilt fabric you’ll fall in love with! We even have a spacious Sewing Center for quilting retreats, great restaurants, the world’s biggest spool of thread, and a place called “Man’s Land” full of comfy reclining chairs and TVs, where weary folks can stop in and take a break from shopping (and even play a round of pool!). Hamilton, Missouri, (aka Quilt Town, USA) is a must-see destination for any quilter and I can’t believe I live in such an incredible place!

If you like to shop in your pjs from the comfort of home, be sure to check out all the gorgeous material for quilts we have on our website. No matter what your style may be, you’ll find it right here. We have everything from traditional reproduction fabric to fresh modern textiles. Looking for holiday prints? We have them year-round! What about some cute fabric for baby quilts? You’ve come to the right place! And if you’re all about color, we offer a rainbow of basics, solid fabrics, and of course, beautiful batiks.

And you absolutely won’t want to miss out on the Quilter’s Daily Deal—it’s the best quilting sale on the web! Every day we offer a discount of 40%-100% off a single quilting item. You’ll find great quilting supplies to add to your fabric stash, including quilting precuts, fabric by the yard, notions, quilt kits, and much more.

But that’s not all! Over the years, we have expanded our offerings to reflect our own interests in related needle arts such as hand embroidery, knitting, and crochet. That’s right, you can now buy embroidery supplies, yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, and more in the same shopping cart as your quilting supplies! Not only that, we also have plenty of free tutorials to cover all the basics of hand embroidery, knitting, and crochet techniques. Whether you’re looking for a fun new craft to explore, or just want to brush up on your skills, we’re pleased to offer one-stop shopping and education to keep you inspired.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed hearing our story and we can’t wait to hear your story too. Quilting has a way of stitching us all together. What started off as a small family business has now grown into an international community of quilters, and even though we aren’t all related, we sure feel like family. No matter where you’re from, we hope you’ll come visit us soon!

Love, Jenny
