Here at Her Packing List, we love to travel light .

Items that serve multiple purposes or make it so our stuff takes up less space can be super helpful.

These days many airlines are getting stricter about carry-ons, leaving many of us looking for new ways to pack carry-on only .

So when some members of the HPLWorld community started talking about the BauBax travel jacket (with its 25 built-in features), we wanted to learn more.

BauBax travel jacket review - features

Features of the BauBax travel jacket

BauBax makes four different travel jackets : a bomber, a sweatshirt, a windbreaker, and a blazer.

They come with many features meant to make travel easier , like a built-in inflatable neck pillow, an eye mask, and many pockets specifically designed for things like your phone, tablet, passport, and more. It even has a drink holder pocket. The jackets come in male and female versions.

BauBax Travel Jacket Features:

  • Neck pillow
  • Drink pocket
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Sunglass pocket
  • Tablet pocket
  • Hand-warming pockets
  • Earphone holder
  • Passport pocket
  • Phone pocket
  • Pen + Stylus
  • Charger pocket
  • Blanket pocket

But we wanted to hear from people who have actually used a BauBax jacket. Here’s what a couple of our readers had to say.

The BauBax Sweatshirt Jacket

Aggie owns the sweatshirt and told me what she likes and doesn’t like about it.

BauBax travel sweatshirt review

What do you like about the BauBax sweatshirt?

I love that it has so many pockets to store things and I don’t always have to carry a purse/shoulder bag around.

Because I’m a travel blogger and daily sketcher, I carry a travel sized sketch kit which includes a pocket sized sketchbook, watercolour paint palette and a pen and water brush. The jacket has plenty of storage space to hold those things without it being and looking too bulky.

I also love the large inside pocket, the eyeglass cleaner that’s attached to the inside pocket, and the attached pen.

What don’t you like about the sweatshirt?

The pockets which you can slip your hands in to keep warm don’t zip up. I have a tendency to put my purse in those pockets in any jacket so to know that anything that I put in the pocket could be zipped up safely would be great.

Also those hand warming pockets (as I call them) are not very deep so putting anything in there without the zip can easily fall out.

I also don’t like how heavy the jacket is . I’d much prefer a lighter jacket . In winter it’s a great jacket to keep me warm and toasty, but I feel that I heat up too quickly wearing this jacket.

Has the BauBax sweatshirt made it easier for you to travel with carry-on only?

Not overly easier . Although it does have a lot of pockets, because I consider this particular model that I have too heavy, I tend not to travel with it much.

It’s convenient to have but I guess the bulkiness and the fact that I overheat in it makes it less likely for me to want to travel with it. Maybe I should have purchased the one of the other jackets.

However both my husband and teenage son love their BauBax jackets and wear them in just daily life and especially for travel.

  • Check out these items to pack that solve problems .

Would you recommend this jacket to other female travelers?

Probably not the particular model I have for travel, because as I mentioned before it’s too heavy and bulky for my liking (I’m only 4′ 11′).

I don’t use the blow-up neck pillow at all and have never traveled with it (again it’s too heavy, my family feel the same about the neck pillow). If they made a lighter version like ScottEVest do, with zip-up hand pockets I would buy one. I only ever wear mine when it’s cold at home, but not for travel.

BauBax Bomber and Sweatshirt

Natalie owns both the bomber and the sweatshirt, so she answered my questions with both items in mind.

BauBax travel bomber jacket review

What do you like about the BauBax bomber and sweatshirt?

I love all the pockets in these jackets.

I also really love the built-in eye mask on the first edition jackets. My bomber was ordered through Kickstarter so it has the original eye mask, and it is fabulous for sleeping on flights. The pillow is super cozy as well.

The bomber is very warm, I was able to wear it as my primary coat in Iceland on a snowy December day. The bomber also seems to be water-resistant in the torso area, but not on the arms .

I love the stretch and flexibility of the sweatshirt . I wear it all the time, even when I’m not traveling.

What don’t you like about the bomber and sweatshirt?

The bomber jacket is very stiff , so I can see how it’d be uncomfortable for some to wear on a long flight or trip.

I ordered the sweatshirt through BauBax after the Kickstarter ended so it may be a second or third edition of the jacket.

It doesn’t have the same eye mask as my bomber jacket and I actually really hate it. The mask isn’t fully connected to the hood of the jacket like in the first edition jackets so it’s really just like a random small flap. It barely covers the eyes all the way and lets in a bunch of light.

  • See what to pack to help you sleep on planes .

I like the pen/stylus, but I am super paranoid about losing it, so I detach it from the zipper and just leave it in whatever purse I’m traveling with at the time.

Have the BauBax jackets made it easier for you to travel with carry-on only?

Yes, it has made it easier to travel carry on only .

In addition to doing carry on only, I also only travel with a small crossbody bag , so I have even less room for in-flight essentials .

I’ve never had to worry about being able to access all my essentials while traveling with this jacket. I also never feel bogged down when I’m using this jacket.

Some of the features like the can holder pocket I don’t use in that particular way mostly because I think it’s a bit silly to walk/sit around with an open can in your breast pocket. Maybe that’s just me.

Would you recommend BauBax to other female travelers?

I would recommend this jacket to other female travelers. It’s a sturdy, well-made jacket , and even if you don’t use all the features, it’s nice looking and comfortable. My bomber jacket worked as a coat in Iceland and London in December weather and was nice enough for me to wear to the theater in London on multiple occasions.

Fun Fact: Who is BauBax?

Bau and Bax are the pet names company founders Hiral and Yoganshi Shah call each other.

In the course of their relationship, they had to endure frequent uncomfortable travel to see each other.

That’s why they set out to create ways to make travel easier starting with a functional yet stylish travel jacket.

Interesting… I had the Baubax Bomber from the Kickstarter campaign, and I ended up selling it on Ebay. I agree with the assessment that it was stiff and I was also terrified I’d lose the stylus, but I didn’t think it was warm at all! I wore it in March in Rhode Island, which is a similar climate to London, and I was miserable. It didn’t keep out the damp at all. Because it was so stiff, and ran so small, I barely used any of the lovely pockets. Overall, I was super disappointed, and don’t miss it.

I would not recommend thebomber nor the sweatshirt. I have both in a size S (even though I usually wear size XS) and yes, I love the amount of pockets, but both are heavy and do not live up to the promised expectations. the most dissapointing things: The pocket for an ipad is just big enough for an ipad mini, the pocket for eyeglasses aren’t big enough to hold even tiny eyeglasses, the drinkpocket doesn’t even hold a miniature drink and if you wear the jacket closed, you sure take out the blanket to make it possible. I removed the neck pillow cause it irritated my neck during wear as well. So…. it doesn’t live up to the promised expectations. It’s just a stiff heavy coat with many pockets.

I purchased the Baubax Sweatshirt last year and I absolutely love it! It’s really comfortable and I wear it every time I take a flight.

I looked at all the reviews before I purchased and I’m glad I did. I bought a size up and turned out to fit me perfectly and still had space for my passport, wallet, phone, earphones, wireless charger, etc.

I love it because I don’t have to worry about opening my bag each time I need something. So, instead of having a carry-on and my handbag, I now have one carry-on 🙂

We Tested All the 20-Plus Features of the Baubax Travel Jacket

Lori Zaino

One afternoon, on a mindless scroll through my Instagram feed, something caught my eye: an ad for a Baubax travel jacket with more than 20 special features designed specifically for travelers. Finally, a sponsored post that was relevant to me.

I clicked through to the Baubax website and was intrigued by the bomber jacket, which came in six sizes, three colors and claimed to have the following travel features:

  • A passport pocket
  • A drink pocket (wait, what?)
  • A bottle opener
  • Hand-warming pockets
  • Glasses pocket
  • Tablet pocket
  • Top secret pocket (also, huh?)
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Power bank pocket
  • Earbuds pocket
  • Zipper pen and stylus
  • Earbuds holder
  • Phone pocket
  • Travel water bottle
  • Inflatable footrest
  • Travel blanket
  • Built-in eye mask
  • Inflatable neck pillow (with in-hood storage)
  • Detachable gloves
  • Earplugs and case

Basically, the jacket promises to be the only travel accessory you need. So, of course, we needed to see if it fits the bill.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

The bomber jacket is black and the outer shell is 100% polyester. It arrived in a sleek bag, and the presentation was nice. It's not designed to be waterproof, but repels light splashes of water. The windbreaker option, though lighter, is the one to pick if you need something truly waterproof. You can machine wash the jacket, but you'll need to take out some of the travel accessories first. The hood is detachable, and the recommended temperature to wear the bomber jacket is between 45 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit. I think that claim is a bit of a stretch because I was cold wearing the jacket in 45- and 50-degree weather, and would definitely not recommend it for use in snow, rain or other severe weather.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

It's stylish, though basic, and coordinates with most outfits. Its travel features are well-disguised. It isn't super lightweight, but it can be rolled up small or packed for travel. When many of the accessories (think: travel blanket and footrest) are stored in the pockets, it gets considerably heavier.

The jacket feels comfortable and relatively warm. I bought a medium, and it fits true to size. However, it's not super soft or luxurious, like a leather, down or fur coat might be. In general, the jacket successfully balances practicality and stylishness.

In terms of durability and quality, the jacket seems well-made, especially the outer polyester shell — though some of the stitches on the inside pockets had a number of loose threads. The zippers all worked easily, as did the snaps connected to the hood.

My Experience

I ordered the women's bomber jacket (they also have products for men) online through a quick and painless process. I paid $159 for the jacket (I used a promo code I found online for $20 off the sale price of $179, originally $300). I was relieved to get the sale price, because $300 seemed too much to pay for a polyester travel jacket, especially one more suited for fall or spring and not really warm enough for winter.

My order was tracked by email from confirmation, to shipping and delivery within a few days of my order. I was pleased at the delivery speed, because the holidays were right around the corner and I expected things to take longer.

I tested the jacket on flights from Tucson International (TUS) to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), from Dallas to Cancún International (CUN) and from Cancún to Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport (MAD). I also wore the jacket around Madrid on warmer winter days to see how it fared as a "normal" jacket. After all, a travel jacket should be ideal for wear on planes, trains and automobiles, but it also needs to be comfortable and practical once you've arrived in your destination.

It's clear the jacket holds up well as its primary function (being a jacket). But what about those special travel features? Do they work? Are they handy? Would I actually use them?

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

The Passport Pocket: This feature was helpful, especially if you're someone who misplaces your passport. However, I'm the kind of person who tosses my jacket carelessly somewhere and forgets about it, so I think I'll keep storing my passport in my purse or tote while traveling, just in case I get hot and take off my jacket.

The Drink Pocket: The odds that I would ever walk around with a drink in here are slim to none. It is a fun feature, but far more appropriate for a frat party than a plane.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

Bottle Opener: I distinctly recall a moment at the Madrid airport Sala VIP lounge when I couldn't find a bottle opener for my glass bottle. This really could have come in handy then. Although I don't really frequent campgrounds, it could be useful for camping or hiking.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

Safety Whistle: This is an amazing feature that's actually part of the bottle opener. Although I haven't had to use it and, hopefully never will, having a safety whistle makes me feel better when traveling, especially since I am a woman who frequently travels solo . It could also be used to scare animals away when hiking, or even when in a country where a lot of stray dogs roam around.

Hand-Warming Pockets: These are just regular pockets. I repeat: just REGULAR POCKETS. I would not consider this a special feature.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

The Glasses Pocket: I did use this for swapping out eyeglasses and sunglasses, a nice touch. You could fit a slim glasses case in there, too.

The Tablet Pocket: This came in handy on my flight when I was seated in the exit row and wanted to keep my Kindle with me, as I couldn't have any items stored in the seat in front of me. However, the jacket felt bulkier with a tablet or e-reader stored there.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

The Pen Pocket: The jacket already has a pen, so this seems a little unnecessary, but it could be useful if both you and your seatmate needed to fill out a customs form ... simultaneously.

Top Secret Pocket: I can't tell you where this is, it's top secret. Just kidding. It has an RFID blocking feature, so it may be a good spot to store any credit cards.

Microfiber Cloth: Having this is really useful if you wear glasses or sunglasses, especially if you store them without a case in the glasses pocket.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

Power Bank Pocket: Confession: I just used this pocket for tissues, and stored my power bank in one of the other pockets. Obviously, a lot of these pockets are interchangeable and you can put whatever you want in them. Now if only the jacket came with an actual attached power bank or charger — that would be a much more compelling feature.

Earbuds Pocket: You can store anything small in here, such as cough drops or lip balm. Or earbuds, as the instructions suggest.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

Zipper Pen and Stylus: The stylus works better on phones without tempered glass screen covers, and I haven't used the pen yet, but gone are the days I'll need to flag down a flight attendant who will give me a disapproving stare for not having my own pen to fill out the custom forms. Now, I'll always have one!

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

Earbuds Holder: I liked the concept, but in reality, the rubbery straps got stuck in my hair and tangled in my sweatshirt. They'd be much easier to use with just wireless earbuds, but then, what's the point? The good news is, you can easily remove this rubber holder from the jacket, which I plan on doing.

The Phone Pocket: It's always useful to have a coat with pockets large enough to store your phone. Again, this came in handy when I sat in the exit row and couldn't have my bag in front of me during takeoff, but I don't plan on making it a habit to store my phone in my coat for the same reason I don't want to leave my passport in my jacket.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

Travel Water Bottle: I'm a huge fan of these fold-up water bottles, and I've used the bottle a number of times now, with and without the jacket.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

Inflatable Footrest: This is pretty awesome, though the coat does get bulky if you store this in the pocket. It inflates really quickly with just a few breaths. I'd like to inflate this and use it on my next long-haul economy flight. I also don't plan on frequently napping in parks, but it did the trick. (Please know, I did this for the sake of journalism.)

Travel Blanket: I'm disappointed with the blanket, honestly. It's extremely thin and poor quality. I was hoping it would be cashmere (a girl can dream) but tough luck! It's more useful as a thin travel scarf.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

Built-in Eye Mask: This feature is amazing. Not only does it do a fairly good job of blocking out light, but you'll never lose it because it's attached. Although you must have the hood up to use the eye mask , it's sort of a whole mood: "I hate everyone, leave me alone, I'm in my personal cocoon." Also, I don't care that I look like a huge nerd.

Inflatable Neck Pillow: While this isn't the greatest neck pillow I've ever used, it's not bad for an inflatable one, and you really can't feel it at all when it's stored in the hood. I often forget to pack an inflatable neck pillow when I travel, so I love the idea of always having one with me.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

Detachable Gloves: These are actually fingerless, thin hand warmers. While they definitely aren't appropriate for really cold weather (though neither is the jacket) it's a nice touch to have them on a chilly evening, and they can easily be stored in the jacket without making it bulky.

Earplugs and Case: These aren't your average drugstore earplugs (they look like little rubber evergreen trees, with three tiers on a stem). In my experience, they didn't block out the noise as well as the cheap foam ones did though. Still, you can use the little case to store them in the jacket, or swap them for ones that work better for you.

The Verdict: 8/10

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

While this isn't the most luxurious or warmest jacket out there, many of the travel features are useful, and a few are pretty awesome, like the built-in eye mask, safety whistle, water bottle and the inflatable neck pillow stored in the hood. Plus, the jacket's multiple pockets are great for traveling. However, if you can't manage to find a promo code and the jacket is not on sale, I think $300 is simply too much to pay for this jacket.

Best For: Anyone traveling in economy or on a low-cost carrier (such as Spirit or Ryanair) who may need a little extra comfort and may not have as many options when it comes to checking bags.

Don't Use: I don't recommend this jacket for anyone who travels frequently to chilly destinations and needs a heavier coat. I'm a little sad I have to wait until spring to start using it because it's just too cold at the moment. If you can manage to get the jacket on sale, it would be a great addition to your travel wardrobe for both men and women.

baubax 20 travel jacket

Inflate a pillow, unfurl a blanket, blow up a foot rest, and flip down an eye mask –  the BauBax 2.0 Jacket packs loads of built-in extras to ease the hassles of travel.

baubax 20 travel jacket

If James Bond and Inspector Gadget made a coat, this would be it. Seattle-based BauBax blasted onto the apparel scene in 2015 when it raised more than $9 million on Kickstarter. Its travel-focused jackets housed 15 unheard-of extras aimed at simplifying travel.

baubax 2.0 zipper pen

Today, the brand launched BauBax 2.0 . Like its predecessor from three years ago, the new piece sports an inflatable neck pillow, built-in gloves, drink koozie pocket, and retractable pen. But the brand went a step (or 10) further to pack in more features and offer new styles.

BauBax 2.0 Travel Jacket

The bulk of BauBax 2.0’s features target the headaches of air travel. One pocket houses noise-cancelling ear plugs (included), and another has earphone ports for your tunes.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

The trademark two-breath inflatable neck pillow deploys from the collar, just like the original. But feet receive a pillow of their own in the 2.0 with an inflatable footrest. And a stowaway travel blanket helps fend of the meat-cooler conditions most airplane cabins provide.

Like the old jacket, there’s an insulated drink koozie chest pocket, but now there’s also a foldable water bottle to go along with it. And while there are still dedicated pockets for both a phone and a tablet, designers added a wireless headphone pocket and wired straps to plug into Apple AirPods.

And since there’s no point stopping at 10 when you could just take it to 11, there’s also a whistle, bottle opener, and retractable keychain, each with their own stash compartment. In case you’re a more visual learner, here are the BauBax 2.0 features in full:

BauBax 2.0 Styles

As part of the “tons of constructive feedback” the brand said it received following its launch, BauBax 2.0 adds a new style to its lineup.

Gone is the 1.0 hooded “travel blazer.” Because let’e face it, you want to look either sharp or lazy – not both.

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

In its place is a more classically styled vest. This accompanies the carryover styles: zip-up hoodie, windbreaker, and bomber jacket.

The coup de grâce of the ensemble is a “Top Secret” RFID-blocking pocket. According to BauBax, this pocket sits in a different location for each style, and its whereabouts are “not public information.”

BauBax 2.0 will run between $175 and $225 depending on style. But you can nab one now at discount on its  Kickstarter .

Baubax Travel Jacket Review: Is It Really “The World’s Best Travel Jacket”?

If you like to travel, you’ve probably heard of Baubax . And if you’re a frequent traveler, you’ve definitely heard of Baubax . They prided themselves on creating “the world’s best travel jacket” with 15 features on their initial Kickstarter campaign, went on to becoming the most funded clothing project in the history of crowdfunding and the 4th most funded project in the history of Kickstarter.

They also ended up creating an Indiegogo campaign afterwards as well, more about that later. And while the product sounded great, shortly after the campaign ended, it seemed like their poor customer service and shoddy business practices were affecting their credibility.

While we know it has been awhile since our jackets were delivered to us, we felt that as travel bloggers, we were doing our due diligence in thoroughly testing the product before we wrote a post about it. Since we’ve received the jacket , it’s been taken it on multiple trips, both international and domestic (within the U.S.), as well as on short day hikes.

Note: This post is solely based upon our own opinions and we have not been compensated in any way for this review nor are we affiliated in any way with Baubax .

We initially backed them during the beginning of their Kickstarter campaign in July 2015. We were able to qualify for early bird pricing packages, I purchased 1 bomber jacket and 1 blazer and Jimmy got a matching bomber jacket . For the record, we weren’t trying to be cutesy about it, it was mainly because we both liked the blue bomber color best.

Based upon their size chart, we ordered the following:

  • Women’s Blue Bomber Jacket (Size: M, exchanged for L) The sizes were much smaller than advertised so I had to exchange my medium bomber for a large size.
  • Women’s Black Blazer (Size: M)
  • Men’s Blue Bomber Jacket (Size: L)

We’ll break down all of the travel features of the jacket and how well they worked or didn’t work based upon what Baubax promised versus the actual delivered jacket , in addition to the pros and cons of the garment itself.

Baubax Travel Jacket Features

Neck pillow.

ADVERTISED: During the campaign, we were told that it would be contained within the hood and would automatically inflate and deflate. REALITY: Our jackets were delivered with a separate supposedly self-inflating travel neck pillow that they just haphazardly stuck into a pocket they created within the hood. You can also blow it up if it doesn’t inflate itself enough, but we haven’t used it since we have our own travel pillows that we were already in love with. The neck pillow weighed down the hood so much we couldn’t imagine anyone actually wearing their jacket with the pillow in it. TLDR – This receives a MISS for both the bomber and the blazer .

ADVERTISED: The eye mask would provide an easy way for customers to nap at anytime with the built-in light shade in the hood. REALITY: This is by far one of the most annoying features of the jacket because every time it rains and we reach for the hood, the eye mask falls smack down on our faces and we can’t see. It sounded great in theory, but it was highly impractical. Comments on the Kickstarter campaign thread recommended using a safety pin or a hook and eye closure to keep the mask fastened to the hood. TLDR – This feature was a MISS for both the bomber and the blazer .

Drink Pocket

ADVERTISED: A drink-cozy-type of pocket that would keep your drinks cool. REALITY: This was an interesting feature that did not work at all for the women’s bomber sizes; the pockets were too small to fit the 12oz. Coca-Cola can they had shown in their campaign video. I’m not clear whether it worked for the smaller men’s sizes since we didn’t order them, but Jimmy’s large size was able to hold a drink. As far as insulation capabilities are concerned, we haven’t actually used it to keep a beverage cool as it would make it look like you’re growing something weird on your chest, but it doesn’t look overly promising. The pocket is only insulated on 1 side, the side against your chest, so we’re doubtful about its ability to actually keep something cool. Even though I couldn’t fit a drink in this pocket, it is still useful for me since I put my transit card or tickets in there when I’m traveling. On the blazer , this is so small that it barely fits my transit card wallet. Note that smaller than expected pockets will be the norm throughout this review of the features. TLDR – This was a MISS for both the bomber and the blazer in smaller sizes, definitely did not work for the women’s sizes and it’s questionable for the smaller men’s sizes .

Microfiber Cloth

ADVERTISED: A wipe for your sunglasses to keep them dust and lint-free. REALITY: While it’s not the best sunglasses cloth wipe material and it is a bit on the smaller side, in a pinch, it does the job! TLDR – We decided this was OKAY for both the bomber and the blazer .

Sunglass Pocket

ADVERTISED: A spot to store your sunglasses. REALITY: For the women’s bomber (large), my sunglasses barely fit and they stick out about 0.5in (~1cm). It’s still large enough for me to place my sunglasses in the pocket (they won’t fall out or anything), but I don’t use it since I’d prefer to keep my sunglasses in their case and in my purse. On the blazer (women’s medium) , the same sunglasses stick out by at least 1.5in (Xcm). TLDR – This was considered OKAY for the bomber and a definite MISS for the blazer .

iPad Pocket

ADVERTISED: A storage spot for your iPad or large tablet device. REALITY: This was the only pocket that really delivered for the women’s jackets , so YES, IT DOES FIT YOUR iPAD. However I couldn’t imagine anyone wearing it with their iPad in there, it would feel very uncomfortable, IMO. I usually use it to store a scarf in chilly weather. For Jimmy’s jacket , the pocket is definitely very large as he can fit at least a 16oz. water bottle in it. On the women’s medium blaze r, the iPad definitely does NOT fit in the pocket. TLDR – We felt this was a WIN for both of the bombers and a MISS for the blazer .

Hand-warming Pockets

ADVERTISED: “Hand-warming pockets.” REALITY: Yes, they do keep your hands warm, but isn’t that what pockets are supposed to do? We also kind of felt like it was a glorified way of saying they were fabric-lined pockets. Note that the blazer does not have the fabric-lined, “hand-warming” pockets as they are are smooth lining typical of a blazer . I wish they would’ve noted this within the campaign. TDLR – This was a WIN for the bomber and definitely a MISS for the blazer as it was not included at all.

Earphone Holders

ADVERTISED: From the campaign videos, these sounded like it would allow the earphones to be “invisible” and hidden within the lining. REALITY: Earphones can be threaded through the bungee-style cords sewn onto the lining of the jackets . For the women’s medium sized blazer , these are small fabric rubber bands that are so small you can’t even slip Apple earphones into them. The design of the jacket also does not allow the earphones to be threaded into the phone pocket, deeming the holder useless if one actually wants to be completely hands-free. TLDR – While we don’t actually use them, they may be useful for those who may store their phones in the phone pocket, so it’s an OKAY for both the bomber and the blazer , but it may be a MISS given the actual practicality of its usage.

Phone Pocket

ADVERTISED: Interior zippered pocket to keep your phone safe. REALITY: This worked well, even in the women’s large sized bomber , and I have an iPhone 6. There is a bit of room in the pocket still so an iPhone 6S may also fit, but it would likely be dependent upon the size that was ordered. TLDR – This was one of the few WINS for both the bomber and the blazer .

Telescoping Pen & Touchscreen Stylus

ADVERTISED: A pen that can be used whenever you need it, especially helpful for filling out customs forms while on the plane. Stylus for use on your phone or tablet. REALITY: I loved how it telescoped to extend itself for writing. This was a great pen, while I had it. I ended up losing the pen that was clipped onto my jacket because it fell off. Jimmy still has his pen, but he removed it after I lost mine. The stylus works, but we never use it. TLDR – This was a WIN for both the bomber and the blazer , as long as you can keep yourself from losing it…

Passport Pocket

ADVERTISED: Easy and RFID zippered compartment for your passport and travel documents. REALITY: My passport fits into the pocket with about 0.5in (~1cm) of clearance on the women’s large bomber. The RFID pocket also did not get implemented. TLDR – We considered this a WIN for the bomber , but we were unable to locate this specific pocket on the blazer .

Blanket Pocket

ADVERTISED: Storage space for the travel blanket add-on item. REALITY: This pocket for the bomber is pretty small, so we’re not 100% sure how the blanket would fit especially since it’s not that sturdy. The pocket is almost the same size as the portable charger pocket. We didn’t order the blankets so we are unable to confirm. The same pocket for the blazer is twice as large which is a little strange seeing as the bomber is a more casual jacket and should therefore have more room for such a pocket. TLDR – We considered this QUESTIONABLE for both jackets since the pockets were flimsy for the bombers and we weren’t able to tell which pocket this was on the blazer .

Portable Charger Pocket

ADVERTISED: Pocket for your battery pack. REALITY: This pocket is pretty small and it’s not very sturdy because it’s a side-by-side pocket next to the blanket pocket. It may hold a smaller juice pack (maybe up to 6000mAh size?), but I’m not confident it would be able to hold anything larger. We use 10,000mAh battery packs so we’ve never been able to fit them into the pocket. The pocket is almost the same size as the blanket pocket. TLDR – This was a MISS since we weren’t able to locate the pocket on the blazer and the pocket on the bomber was very flimsy and not useful in practice.

ADVERTISED: Built-in gloves to keep your hands warm on flights. REALITY: These “gloves” remind me of long sleeve workout shirts with thumbholes and that’s basically what it is except the long sleeve part is only sewn onto the sleeve of the bomber . We think these sleeves are okay, Bear has used them in the cold, however for me, they just tend to get in the way. TLDR – This feature was OKAY for the bomber , and a MISS on the blazer as it makes the jacket look insanely casual and not professional.

Detachable hood (only on bomber and blazer )

ADVERTISED: Simply a “detachable hood.” REALITY: Exactly as expected, a zip-off hood, they couldn’t really go wrong here. On the blazer , this also removes the partial cloth lining, except the gloves. TLDR – This feature was a WIN for the bomber , and a MISS on the blazer . The hood isn’t of the best quality and tends to look overly casual.

The jackets also had accessories, some of which were free because we were Kickstarter backers.

It’s also interesting to note that on the website the blazer is listed to have all of the same features as shown on the bomber and windbreaker jacket, they simply show a black jacket rather than the BLACK BLAZER . IMO it looked a bit sketchy.

Baubax Travel Jacket Accessories

I know what you’re; thinking, “the world’s best travel jacket” needs accessories? Oh, why, yes it does!

Travel Blanket (Additional $25)

This was an add-on for an additional $25 added to the pledge. The travel blanket was supposed to be 60in (152cm) x 40in (105cm). I understand that it’s intended to be a thin blanket folded to fit into the pockets, but given the blanket dimensions and the tiny pocket size, I definitely have my doubts. Again, we didn’t purchase the blanket so we can’t confirm this. TLDR – UNDETERMINED, We didn’t purchase this add-on, so we can’t say for sure.

Folding/Roll-up Water Bottle (FREE)

This was a freebie given for each jacket purchased as an apology for the production delays. We probably use the water bottle the most out of all of the accessories because they are great for traveling. You can easily roll them up into one of the jacket pockets when you’re done with it. This also came with a carabiner to hold the roll together. TLDR – We use this the most out of all of the freebies, so it’s a definite WIN even though it’s not the best quality.

Half gloves (FREE)

This was a freebie given for each jacket purchased as an apology for the production delays. Simply put, we HATE these. They barely cover half of my hand and they definitely don’t cover Jimmy’s hand at all, they look more like knuckle protectors for him. But unfortunately they’re “one size fits all.” TLDR – MISS for sure, we NEVER EVER use these. (EDIT: I think I’ve seen Jimmy use them when he’s doing work on his car, but that’s pretty much it, lol. They are basically throw away gloves)

Pen refills (FREE)

These were slipped into the pockets of the jacket so I hope people checked them before they wore or washed them! Jimmy didn’t and he ended up messing up his refills when he washed his jacket . A note on the order slip would have been nice so that people were aware, but sadly that detail was missed. TLDR – These were OKAY, they should’ve told us that they had been included as many people have accidentally ruined them in the wash.

Buttons (FREE, Blazer Only)

I haven’t worn my blazer at all, so I haven’t used these. TLDR – I haven’t used the buttons, so this is UNDETERMINED.

Controversies Regarding Baubax

Prior to even receiving their jackets , many Kickstarter backers were unhappy with their experience on this campaign, specifically with the company.

Lack of Transparency

After the campaign, the company didn’t provide too many updates regarding the production process. We literally didn’t hear anything for months. The campaign ended on September 3, 2015 and the first production-related update we received was on November 6, 2015, the same month backers were originally supposed to receive their jackets . In fact, there was no mention of delays until the last day of the month, November 30.

Granted the company only had two short months after the initial Kickstarter campaign ended to manufacture over 45,000 jackets , this lack of communication led many backers to lose faith and trust in the company. Many expressed their displeasure within the comments on the campaign page.

Multiple Campaigns/Sales

Kickstarter – original campaign (July 2015), Indiegogo (Sept 2015), e-bags (May 2016)

The original Kickstarter campaign ended in September 2015 and had estimated jacket delivery to occur in November of 2015. However the company started an Indiegogo campaign right after receiving the money from the Kickstarter backers, this Indiegogo campaign ran until January 2016. These back-to-back crowdfunding campaigns led Kickstarter backers to further lose trust in the company as they began to see Baubax as money-hungry, selling more jackets to new customers before they even delivered the jackets to the original backers.

Granted it was a Kickstarter campaign, I had personally expected the jackets to be delivered a couple of months after the estimate since production does take time, what I hadn’t anticipated was to receive them nearly 1 year later, in May 2016. This same month, Baubax jackets were also already available on e-bags, before many original backers even received their orders. This further frustrated backers who just wanted their jackets served with some transparency.

Large Customs Bills

Many international backers (outside of the U.S.) were stuck with customs bills over $100 due to tax implications while shipping the orders. While I understand that customers weren’t expecting to receive such expensive bills, this is pretty standard for international online orders. In my opinion, this issue was less severe because there are always tax implications while ordering items from overseas, especially in the U.S. and EU; however, this could have been mediated with messaging within the Kickstarter campaign. Backers were most likely already angry and frustrated with Baubax over the delivery delays and this added fuel to the fire.

Since we are residents of the U.S., we didn’t deal with this issue, but we sympathize with backers who were unaware of these potential costs.

Cons of the Jackets

Poor sizing/quality.

The sizing issues were absolutely horrid. The measurements didn’t match the sizing chart they provided at all and were more aligned with Asian sizing. According to the sizing chart, I was supposed to order my jacket and blazer in small. I was afraid of inaccuracies in sizing and intentionally ordered medium sizes thinking I was sizing up, little did I know that I would still need a large for my bomber .

For women, I’d recommend getting 2 sizes up for the bomber and 1 size up for the blazer .

For men’s bomber sizing, Jimmy got super lucky because his bomber fit like a glove! It’s also worth noting that backers were originally promised tall sizing as part of a stretch goal that didn’t happen. He was fortunate to fit into the normal large size even though he’s 6’2”.

Originally we thought the quality for the bomber was great, as it was much better than my blazer . However, a year and a half later, I am noticing that the fabric is wearing around the zipper area so the fabric is not as sturdy as I thought it was. The pockets and zippers still remain functional for me.

Part of the reason I have never worn my blazer is because I hate the quality. The other reason is that I honestly never wear blazers so I’m not quite sure why I ordered it to begin with. The quality and cut is very cheap looking and definitely does not look like it costed over $100. The fabric used to create the blazer feels extremely cheap as well, I could’ve purchased a blazer for much less with better quality fabric.

For the most part, the exchange for my jacket resolved the sizing issue, but the quality issue obviously still remains.

Feature Map Required

It would have been helpful if Baubax had provided a feature map in the campaign like they had with the windbreaker and sweatshirt. The pockets on the blazer are placed in completely different spots on the jacket and I honestly have no idea which pocket is meant for what item/device. The fact that the pockets are much too small for most of the items doesn’t help the situation either.

I was able to look back at the campaign page to figure out what the bomber pockets are for, but I’m still at a loss for the blazer pockets so I’ve made my best attempts to guess at their purpose.

Poor Customer Service

The customer service left much to be desired, point blank, I had to talk to 2 different people in order to get my jacket exchanged, so my experience wasn’t exactly smooth. I understand that with Kickstarter campaigns don’t usually allow for exchanges or returns however in the case of Baubax , a large number of people had issues with the sizing and as a result, the company fortunately allowed for free exchanges. In the end, I was able to get the correct size I needed so I ended up pleased with their service.

I also noticed that many backers were frustrated with the customer service since they had emailed support only to be forced to post comments on the Kickstarter campaign page in order to receive a response. Based upon these comments, it seems as if the customer support has improved since I last emailed them however they were definitely off to a bad start.

Now that we’ve shared the negative aspects of Baubax , both the actual travel jacket and the company, we’ll go through some pros! 🙂

Pros of the Jackets

As a female, we are often forced to carry purses just because our clothing either doesn’t have pockets or has insanely small pockets, so I personally appreciate all of the pockets on my Baubax jacket . While I don’t necessarily use all of the pockets, or use them for the purpose they’re meant for, this is THE major thing I love about my Baubax bomber .

Jimmy also loves the jacket for traveling because he can literally carry everything on him without having to carry a separate messenger bag.

Water Bottle

Even though it was a free item, we love it for traveling so we can pare down on what we carry. It’s especially great for grabbing water from the drinking fountain at the airport or on the plane since it doesn’t take up much space in our carry-ons.

We Still Love Our Jackets !

All in all, even though there are many negatives to baubax , both with the company and the product, we were able to work through many of the issues we had with our jackets . and we love our bomber jackets (not the blazer ). they are much more useful than we expected and since we got the early bird kickstarter pricing, but even at the current retail price, they were well worth it, especially when you factor in cost per wear.

If you need a jacket with 25 features, look no further than the BauBax 2.0

It’s been nearly three years since the BauBax Travel Jackets set a record as the most successful apparel crowdfunding campaign in Kickstarter history, and now, the team behind the outerwear is back to prove itself once again. After raising $9.2 million in its first go-around, the BauBax team is launching the 2.0 version of its jacket on the crowdfunding site. Meet the BauBax 2.0 Travel Jacket , created “by travelers for travelers” and meant to address “common travel problems and make every journey easier.”

The jacket includes a number of bells and whistles that you probably didn’t know you wanted. For example, there’s a pen (or stylus) attached to the main zipper, earbud holders, multiple tech gadget pockets, a secret RFID safe pocket, a drink pocket, and of course, built-in gloves. The BauBax 2.0 also features specially sized storage pockets for your passport, wallet, tablet, smartphone , sunglasses, portable battery charger, and water bottle.

  • New leak shows off Samsung’s One UI 2.0 — and it’s built on Android 10

In essence, if you want to turn yourself into a walking suitcase, this is the way to do it. Oh, and by the way, the jacket comes with a carabiner, because why not?

And now that Apple products are more popular than ever, BauBax has added some iEmpire-specific features, including an Apple Pencil pocket, an Apple AirPods pocket, and built-in AirPod straps to hold your earphones in place.

While this may seem like a whole lot to carry on your person, the BauBax team notes that it’s actually perfect for traveling, particularly through airports. “Instead of unloading all your pockets before stepping into the full body scanner, you can simply keep everything in your BauBax Jacket, take it off and send it through the scanner,” Hiral Sanghavi, Co-founder and CEO of BauBax said.

The original BauBax has sold more than 150,000 jackets since its Kickstarter debut, and the team seems to have even bigger plans yet for its older sibling.

“I’ve always found traveling cumbersome and harder than it should be, from fumbling around at security, to looking for a pen for customs forms, or trying to hold a drink when my tray table is occupied by a laptop,” Sanghavi noted. “With BauBax 2.0 Travel Jackets, travelers will find they have everything they need to enjoy their trip and get the sleep they crave.”

In addition to all the aforementioned features, the BauBax 2.0 also comes with a built-in neck pillow, eye mask, blanket, and inflatable footrest. Seriously, don’t ask. The BauBax 2.0 jackets are available in both men and women’s sizing in four styles: vest, bomber jacket, sweatshirt, and windbreaker.

Of course, you should always exercise caution when backing a crowdfunded project , but if you’re interested, the BauBax is offering early bird pricing of $109 for its sweatshirt, windbreaker, or vest, and $129 for the bomber. Delivery is expected for August 2018.

Gas is getting expensive. All around the world people are exploring alternative transportation methods that are cheaper, better for the environment, and more fun. One method that has exploded recently is the electric scooter. E-scooter ride share apps have descended on cities. If you've tried one out and want to get your own, Prime Day deals provide a great opportunity to snag one for cheap. Right now the Segway Ninebot Electric Kickscooter is down to just $210 from its usual price of $500. That's over 50% off! It's also the lowest price it has ever been. Before this, the cheapest it's ever been is $295. Read more about the scooter below, then check out the deal yourself before Prime Day is over.

Why you should buy the Segway Ninebot Electric Kickscooter on Prime Day Segway is most famous for the two-wheeled balancing devices that got popular in the mid-2000s. They were seen as futuristic and a bit goofy. They never really took off, and the similar but less goofy (if more unstable) hoverboards were the devices that blew up (figuratively and literally). Today we see Segways mostly in science fiction movies and on city sightseeing tours. They were discontinued in 2020.

Interest in e-bike deals has steadily been growing as the technology behind these electric vehicles have improved by leaps and bounds. E-bikes, as well as e-mopeds and e-go karts, are increasing in popularity because they can let you get to your destinations quickly -- faster than using a regular bicycle, and possibly also quicker than cars because they can weave through traffic. The good models are understandably expensive, but fortunately there are discounts that you can take advantage of. Here are some of the top offers that you can shop right now, but you'll have to hurry because these probably won't last long. Segway Ninebot KickScooter F30 -- $400, was $650

The Segway Ninebot KickScooter F30 is an electric scooter that offers a maximum range of 18.6 miles and a top speed of 15.5 miles per hour. There are three riding modes for you to choose from: Eco, Standard, and Sports, all of which are accessible through its LED dashboard. The Segway Ninebot KickScooter F30 also comes with a regenerative braking system that collects energy to give you a boost when needed, and compatibility with the Segway Ninebot app for functions such as monitoring your riding status, locking the electric scooter, and upgrading its firmware, among others.

From coast to coast, short or long distance, school or work, we have a jacket style that will fit your needs.

What started out as a necessity for one person, turned into one of the most successful crowdfunding projects to date. This was the million-dollar idea of Yoganshi Shah and Hiral Sanghavi. Eventually their goal is to incorporate their background of electronics and software to create smart apparel!

Describe your product in 3 words.

Comfortable Functional Versatile!

How did you come up with the idea for this product?

Convenience on the go. That is what Yoganshi Shah thought of when her husband, Hiral Sanghavi, kept forgetting his neck pillow when he travelled. Initially together they thought maybe an app would work to keep a working packing list. Yoganshi had a brilliant idea of creating a jacket that essentially embodies “everything has a place, and everything in its place.” The outcome was a functional jacket designed for accessibility and comfort. The BauBax jacket has 15 features that helps all travelers and people on-the-go stay organized with pockets for a tablet, smart phones, sunglasses, and even a drink pocket. To add to the overall functionality, there is space to hold earphones, built-in eye mask, gloves that extend from the sleeves, and comes with a microfiber cloth to keep all eyewear sparkly clear. Of course it has the built-in neck pillow that will not be left at home again.

What makes your product special?

You likely never heard of a travel jacket before Baubax, but it's the jacket you always needed but never existed.

What has been the best part of your startup experience?

It is good to have clothing that solves problems you face in your day-to-day life. We are happy that Baubax is doing that for tens of thousands of customers worldwide.

Men's Bomber jackets: The Ultimate Style Guide

baubax men's travel bomber jacket

The fashion industry is coming out with new trends every year. As of late, society has taken a step back and brought back a piece of fashion that is timeless - the bomber jacket! The bomber jacket is commonly mistaken for a puffer jacket and shearling jacket because of the sherpa, but let us be the first to tell you that there is so much more to this jacket than what other jackets can offer. It's more comfortable than a moto and parka and more stylish than a puffer jacket. With many different styles, this jacket is extremely versatile, and every person should have one in their wardrobe.

Where did they come from?

Although the bomber jacket has only recently made a splash into our social media pages, this stylish jacket has been around for many decades. This jacket was established during World War II for those who were pilots. Originally called, “flight jackets”, bomber jackets were created by the US Army Aviation Clothing Board in 1917 to help combat the cold. The early jacket design was made to keep the pilots warm, so they were lined with fur to keep the cold out.

As society advanced, so did the bomber jacket! New styles and features were released such as a zip closure, knitted cuffs and waistbands. It wasn't until around the 1960s that the bomber jacket made it out to the public. Since then, brands have adopted the bomber jacket making it the popular piece of clothing that it is today!

Different types of bomber jackets

As with any fashion trend, there are a variety of styles when it comes to bomber jackets. There are men's bomber jackets and bomber jackets for women. There are options with faux fur or faux leather. A lot of people are making debuts in their denim bomber jackets and even camo seems to be making a comeback. There are constantly new arrivals with this type of jacket and so many things to consider. Here we discuss the basics of flight jackets, better known as bomber jackets these days.

The Basics: The OG Flight Jackets

A-1 Jacket The most famous jacket of them all is the A-1 jacket which was issued in 1927. The A-1 jacket was the first to feature a waistband and cuffs made of knitted wool. This design set the standard for all bomber jackets moving forward. Today, the A-1 jacket can still be found with knitted collar, cuffs, and waistband with two large flap pockets on each hip. A-2 Jacket The A-2 jacket is very similar in design to the A-1 however it was given shoulder epaulettes, a zipper closure and instead of a knitted collar, it was made of leather. Since then, this jacket has been simplified by removing the epaulettes giving it a more modern feel. MA-1 Jacket In the 1950s, the MA-1 rewrote the rules in the flight jacket handbook. This jacket was designed by the US Air Force which acted as a lightweight flight jacket. The MA-1 was made from very high-quality nylon fabrics and polyester. This bomber jacket is the most recognizable style on the market today featuring slanted flap pockets, a zip in the front and a zip arm pocket.

Today: Bomber Jacket Styles

Since first appearing in 1917, the bomber jacket has come a long way with many different styles available on the market! As the supply chains evolve, so do the styles and times of fashion. Each bomber jacket is unique in its own way with characteristic distinguishing itself from other jackets. Flight Bomber: The flight bomber jacket is the most popular of all bombers on the market today. With the design most similar to the flight jackets used in the military, these jackets come in various materials including suede, leather and nylon.

  • Suede bomber jackets can boast a smart and casual look. They may not be ideal for less than sunny weather, but suede is very stylish. When choosing the right suede bomber, keep in mind which colors will look best on you. Colors such as beige, brown and stone make a great suede bomber to pair with your look.
  • Leather bomber jackets can be used for a casual and or dressed up occasion. When opting for a leather bomber, you will want to aim for top quality to ensure it lasts a long time.
  • Nylon bomber jackets are a number one choice for their lightweight material. Nylon does not add too much drama to your look but can still keep you looking elegant. Nylon jackets are the traditional bombers you see many men wear today, however over time these jackets have shifted into a slim fit which is still highly sought for.
  • Varsity Bomber: The varsity bomber jacket grew in popularity when colleges began to refashion these jackets into varsity jackets. The varsity bomber is comfy and super sporty usually featuring a stripe pattern on the sleeves, waistband and cuffs of the jacket. Similar to the silhouette of the flight bomber worn by the US military, this varsity jacket is worn proud by the students wearing it, sporting their university’s colors.

How to Pick a Bomber Jacket

  • Make sure when you purchase your bomber jacket , you are getting the right fit. You don't want to buy it undersized or oversized as you want to be able to zip it up in the front. The jacket should rest loosely on your hips and the cuffs should not be above or go past your wrists.
  • Do not wear your jacket over another jacket. This will cause you to look bulky.
  • Invest in wool or leather bombers if you wish for additional warmth.
  • For a casual cool look, pair your jacket with a t-shirt, jeans and a pair of sneakers.
  • Want a minimalist approach? Go for a bomber without the zipper!
  • If you are shooting to look a little higher end, opt for a nice pair of trousers with your bomber jacket and a pair of plain toe-derbies or loafers.
  • Match your outfit with the style and color of your outfit.
  • Consider using a gift card to buy your bomber jacket so that you can return the jacket for another style if you don't love the first one you bought.
  • Try wearing a shirt with a print to instantly uplift your look with a neutral color bomber.
  • Give the single tone look a try! For casual and formal purposes, many people will opt for blouse and trousers that are the same color as your bomber.
