These guys are the real deal up-all-night (because their phone is ringing) get-the-job-done funeral home. This is the only funeral home in their service area willing and able to accommodate the most lavish and unconventional requests in Mexican funerary. They also do very professional service in Traditional and mix of American funerary. Also if direct cremation is your thing, they're within $20 of the online competition, and again, 24/7 your funeral director is on the other side of the phone. Solid people, a very important component of the community in the East Valley and VI. I've worked with several funeral homes, and was always beyond impressed with this crew. Blue collard funeral directors; Just real people, doing real work at the direct benefit of their city/community.

My sister died in her home quite unexpectedly, on April 15. It fell to me, to quickly arrange for removal of her body because the coroner ruled it natural causes. I found New Journey Cremations by reading a great Yelp review. I was so well cared for by Fernando. He was very professional, courteous, empathetic and sensitive to the situation as I was 160 miles away and not able to be on the scene to actively orchestrate all that needed to be done. He removed my sister from her home at nearly midnight April 15. I highly recommend New Journey Cremations for the high degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and extremely reasonable prices for the services rendered.

New Journey is extremely professional and compassionate during a difficult time. The entire staff was very professional and accommodating to my families needs. n the unexpected event of my fathers death, I was at a loss where to turn or what to do. I called a bigger, well known funeral home in the desert that handled my grandfather's arrangements 35 years ago and it was a disaster. They were disorganized and unprofessional and left me more exasperated in an already stressful time. My sister found New Journey's website and the moment I looked at it, I knew they were the ones I should go to. From the first phone call, Martín was so kind, helpful and professional. He put me at ease and handled everything so gently and efficiently. I felt they treated me as their own family member. Martín, Jade and the owner Fernando went above and beyond to make this difficult situation as smooth as possible and I want to thank them all from the bottom of my heart. They were truly my angels that I was beyond blessed to find. If you are in a similar situation and reading these reviews, do not hesitate to call and have New Journey handle your arrangements. We lost our mom a couple of months ago and went to New Journey for her services. It was the best decision we made. Fernando was very professional, caring and compassionate. He made a very difficult time a little bit less so and he went above and beyond our expectations. I would recommend this company to anyone in need of these services. Don't let the "cremation" in the title discourage you, they also handle traditional funeral services.

Many at the funeral service made the difficult journey walking up to Johnson’s pink casket, pink flowers, and signs for her children.

SUMMERTON, S.C. (WBTV) - On Saturday, heart-felt tributes poured in as loved ones laid to rest Markayla Johnson and her two young children who were killed last month.

WBTV has been following this story since it all began on March 3, when Johnson, her four-year-old daughter Miracle, and her seven-month old son Messiah were reported missing out of northeast Charlotte.

Nearly two weeks later , police found their remains inside their apartment complex.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said investigators arrested Johnson’s boyfriend Benjamin Taylor in connection to the killings.

Carol Tindal was among the hundreds who attended the funeral service honoring the three victims at Scott’s Branch High School in Summerton, South Carolina.

WBTV is told Summerton is Johnson’s hometown.

“Her babies they loved their mom and they loved family. So, there’s gonna be a minus in our family. We will miss her,” shared Carol Tindel.

Tindal said Johnson was her great-niece.

“She’s a sweetheart of a person. Will give you the shoes off her feet and walk beside you with that. She will give her last. She was a sweet-hearted person,” Tindal continued.

Tindal hopes women walking in Johnson’s footsteps will gain the courage to walk in a new direction before it’s too late.

“If there’s anyone out there that have experienced any type of domestic violence in anyway get help. Don’t close your lips to that. Get help,” said Tindal

Taylor is now back in North Carolina and in the Mecklenburg County jail. He’s charged with three counts of murder.

He is not the father of either of the children and investigators have yet to share how Johnson and her two children were killed. He is due in court on Monday.

Russians have seen many images of Alexei Navalny — a firebrand protest leader with a bullhorn. A government critic whose face was splashed with green dye by an attacker, which he joked turned him into the Hulk. A smiling political prisoner making a heart with his hands as he gestured to his wife in a defendant’s cage in court.

On Friday, there was one final picture of the opposition leader: Navalny in an open casket, red and white flowers heaped around him, and his forehead covered with a “venchik,” a traditional adornment for those who lived a righteous life.

His body, visibly thin from the months he’d spent in prison before his unexpected and still unexplained death , was a final confirmation: that this would be his last farewell.

For those who had believed in Navalny’s vision of a freer, more peaceful Russia, it was a moment tinged with deep despair.

“What was done to him is incredibly difficult to accept and get through it,” said Nadezhda Ivanova, a mourner who stood outside the church where Navalny’s funeral service was held. “Today we say farewell to a truly great man and see him to his final journey.”

Only a select few were allowed to pay their respects inside the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God Soothe My Sorrows, where Navalny’s casket lay surrounded by candles.

Thousands more lined the streets outside the church and towards the graveyard where Navalny’s body was laid to rest. Some in the crowd threw flowers at the passing hearse, hemmed in by metal barriers and a heavy police presence.

When Navalny’s death was announced on Feb. 16, police detained hundreds who tried to leave flowers. Some had feared that the funeral would see similar large-scale arrests. That so many people still chose to publicly mourn Navalny was a testament to the politician’s stature, said Mark Galotti, head of the Mayak Intelligence consultancy.

“Despite the intimidatory police presence, the increasing thuggery of the state, all the new CCTV cameras to record their faces, thousands of Muscovites come out to say their farewells to Navalny in the largest grassroots demonstration for years,” he posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Crowds continued to gather at the cemetery’s gates, chanting: “Let us in to say goodbye!” Navalny’s mother and father stroked and kissed his head before the casket was finally closed and lowered into the earth.

When the gates finally opened, the mourners streamed in — a continuous line of people laying flowers and throwing small handfuls of dirt on top of the grave. The police stood close by, hurrying individuals along.

But with despair was also defiance. As dusk fell, the waiting crowds continued to chant: “Love is stronger than fear,” and “Putin is a killer.”

Navalny had often urged Russians never to give up. Now, many hope his death will become his final contribution to Russia’s pro-democracy movement, inspiring new strength.

Writing on social media, best-selling Russian-Georgian author Boris Akunin urged Russians not to let Navalny’s death be in vain.

“Today, they are burying a man who had a beautiful dream: to create the Beautiful Russia of the Future. A person can be killed. Anything that’s alive can be killed. Even a dream,” he said.

“Everything that Alexei could do for the Beautiful Russia of the Future, he did. Whether that was all for nothing will now depend on you and me. Eternal memory to Alexei and eternal shame to us if it was all in vain.”

Leslyn polk obituary.

Leslyn Rogers Polk, age 87, passed away on November 28th at her home in Moscow, Idaho. She lived a full life, and was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, and friend. Leslyn was born August 17th 1936 in Moscow to Kathryn and Lester Rogers. Her journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and dedication.

Leslyn loved growing up on the family farm alongside her five siblings. There, she developed a deep connection to the land that stayed with her throughout her life. After graduation from Moscow High School, Leslyn attended the University of Idaho, married Joe Corless, and began a family, while living in such places as Texas, Washington, Taiwan, and California. She dedicated herself to her children, Matt, Ruth, and Phillip, by serving as PTA President, planning the best class parties, shuttling kids to piano and swim lessons, and cooking up the most delicious meals imaginable. Leslyn’s cooking skills were legendary, with her chicken wings and cheesecake being family favorites. Anyone who ate one of her meals could clearly see and taste the love she put into her dishes.

The accidental loss of her eldest son, Matt, in 1974, became a turning point in Leslyn's life. Channeling her grief into education, she pursued and earned her BA and MA in Sociology at Cal State Fullerton. She then began a teaching career at Fullerton College that spanned two decades. During her tenure at the college, Leslyn built new programs for adult learners returning to the classroom, and played a pivotal role as President of the California State Academic Senate. She set into motion educational changes involving teaching standards and professional requirements that are still used to this day.

Even though her life journey took her around the world, Leslyn’s heart always found its way back to her roots in Moscow, Idaho. In 2004 she and husband Lee Polk retired to Moscow to the farm which her great-grandfather homesteaded in 1877. They set about improving and protecting the land, ensuring that it continued to be a working farm. Leslyn took great pride and interest in how the land was used, and followed wheat prices intensely. She also devoted herself to caring for her mother, Kathryn Rogers, in her later years, as well as her beloved Aunt Edith Ivy.

Leslyn was an extraordinary conversationalist, a storyteller at heart, and a source of wisdom in any situation. Her strength, kindness, and generosity touched countless lives. She was a constant and caring presence in the lives of her children and grandchildren. No matter what, she was there to support them in whatever endeavor they pursued.

Leslyn Polk was preceded in death by her beloved son Matt Corless, brother Kenneth Rogers, sister Lois Jean Alton, parents Kathryn and Lester Rogers, and husband Lee Polk. She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her daughter Ruth, son Phillip, grandchildren Sarah, Michael, Matthew, and Elissa, along with sisters Kathy Crossler, Linda Frostenson, and Ladessa Smelcer.

A graveside service will be held at Moscow Cemetery on Monday, March 25, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the American Diabetes Association.

After That Sacha Baron Cohen Drama, Adele Is The Latest Star To Be Namedropped In Rebel Wilson’s New Memoir

In her new memoir, Rebel claims that she and Adele used to be confused for one another, and that the British singer “didn’t like being compared to” her Pitch Perfect character “Fat Amy.”

Last month, Rebel Wilson hit the headlines when she claimed that an “asshole” she’d previously worked with had “threatened” her over a chapter in her newly released memoir, Rebel Rising .

She later revealed that the male celebrity was Sacha Baron Cohen , who she starred alongside in the 2016 movie Grimsby , which was initially called Brothers Grimsby .

"I will not be bullied or silenced by high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers," Rebel wrote on her Instagram story. "The 'asshole' that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen."

In a subsequent interview with the Times , Rebel opened up about her allegations against Sacha, saying that she was “disrespected on set” during filming and that her body was exploited for laughs.

Sacha’s rep refuted Rebel’s claims , and issued a statement to Variety that read: “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby. ”

Now, just over one week later, details of another celebrity that Rebel discusses in her book have been revealed in an excerpt published by In Touch Weekly .

In this extract, Rebel admits that she thinks British singer Adele “hates” her as she claims that the star would act uncomfortably around her. Rebel goes so far as to say that she believes Adele avoided her because of her weight.

“Some actresses would get offended if I called them plus-size in this book, so I have to be careful with what I say. This is why, I think, Adele hates me,” the actor purportedly writes. “There was a moment when she was bigger, and some people would confuse us for one another … I am assuming, because to be fair I’ve never asked her.”

Per In Touch Weekly, Rebel goes on to claim that Adele “always quickly turns away” when they’ve crossed paths at events. Rebel then references her Pitch Perfect character as she adds: “As if my fatness might rub off on her if I were near her for more than thirty seconds. That she didn’t like being compared to ‘Fat Amy.’”

Adele has not publicly acknowledged Rebel’s claims, and BuzzFeed has contacted her representative for comment.

After getting her big break playing the self-proclaimed “ funny fat girl ,” Rebel lost 80lbs in 2020 in what she calls her “ Year of Health .”

Discussing her weight loss during an Instagram Live , Rebel said that she was inspired to change her lifestyle when she turned 40, and that the focus was to improve her health rather than lose weight. 

“The goal was never to be skinny. It was never to fit into a certain dress size,” she explained.

And Adele had a similar approach to her own 100lb weight loss journey.

The singer said to British Vogue: “It was never about losing weight. It was always about becoming strong and giving myself as much time every day without my phone. I got quite addicted to it. I work out two or three times a day.”

Rebel’s memoir is available to buy in the US now, and is due for release on April 25 in the UK.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the book’s publication in Rebel’s home country of Australia has been delayed indefinitely , with no further comment given.
