P&O Cruises introduces Stress-Free Travel App

Sunday, November 27, 2022

P&O Cruises App banner

P&O Cruises launched its new app just in time for the restart of the 2022 cruising season. Available across P&O’s entire fleet, the app features pre-cruise, and onboard functionalities, allowing for simplified boarding processes, guest-to-guest messaging services and in-app restaurant bookings giving cruiselings the ability to seamlessly maximise and tailor their pre-cruise and onboard experience.

Before cruising

Passengers no longer need to fret over printed boarding passes, the P&O Cruises App allows passengers to access their digital boarding pass before embarkation, storing all their crucial cruise information in one place, with further access to information about shore tours, onboard activities, and amenities before the holiday starts.

Convenience in the palm of your hand

Once onboard, the app allows guests to plan and book cruise activities, providing them with a personalised itinerary.

Passengers can also check out daily events and activities onboard by accessing the daily P&O Good Times newsletter through the app, ensuring none of the fabulous onboard entertainment is missed.

P&O Cruises Australia President Marguerite Fitzgerald says that the app marks an exciting time for the cruise line and its passengers.

"The P&O Cruises App is here just in time for us to welcome back our passengers as we restart cruising in Australia. The app was designed with a single purpose, to create an immersive and stress-free experience for our passengers that will further enhance the customer experience from the moment they choose to cruise with P&O.”

The P&O Cruises Australia App is now available for free download on Apple- and Android-supported smartphones.

For more information and to download the P&O Cruises App, please visit  here .

According to the latest update on P&O website, you go to your muster point on embarkation, scan your cruise card and go to your cabin and watch a video on the TV.

Looks good, and more elements to be added in the future.

This all sounds very sensible and well thought out.

No self serve launderettes (as I expected) it will be interested to see how the booking process for activities and entertainment goes.

I am waiting for the “why do i have to have a smartphone” brigade to come out.

Haha

zoe sproodle

Good to be able to view the on-board account without having to go to reception. It was handy to view it through the cabin TV on Ventura and Azura before they removed the option.

I haven't got a smart phone but the good news is I do possess a tablet which will work

Which now leaves us with the " why do I have to walk to the venues ,to book " brigade

Using apps to book activities is the way ahead now.

I think it'll be very useful for booking tables for dining.

I think this is an excellent idea and will make life easier. Just need a cruise to go on now as nothing booked for this year or next!

P&O have an answer for that

If you are unable to use the My Holiday app, then once you are on board you can call our holiday experience number from your cabin or drop by at one of the My Holiday pop-up desks that can be found in multiple locations around the ship. If you have any queries or need assistance during your holiday, our Reception team is available 24 hours a day. You’ll also find useful information in your daily Horizon.

Yes, each ship is being upgraded whilst being prepared to return to service. Essentially it’s all built on the same platform as the Princess Ocean Medallion.

Both the app and the Ocean tracker remove the need for physical crew-passenger interactions. The ability to look at a menu electronically removes the opportunity for menus to be handled by multiple passengers.

You need to be connected to the ship wifi but if you don’t purchase an internet package you’ll only have access to the onboard features. So those who don’t want calls & texts & emails can still enjoy that choice.

That said there is a digital excluded option for every interaction so those who don’t want to or can not use the app don’t have to.

Presto2

We used something similar on Celebrity Edge and though I was a bit cynical it worked really well and it was so useful to cancel reservations and change them using their app.

Good news all round.

So excited for all cruise lines at the minute to be honest and just pleased to hear good news about good ideas like this.

A positive step from P&O in my opinion, and personally looking forward to trying it out in 38 days..  Hopefully the crew on board have/are/will be testing this prior to passengers embarking.

I note the menus are not listed as being available yet on the FAQ.  I assume this is a work in progress and additional pages will be added to the website used in time?

I am looking forward to trying it, its been a long time coming but this is a good evolution.

Yes, crew are testing plus there is a staff simulation to test the new systems before passengers board.

Well, the fact that it is built on the Princess Ocean Medallion platform will hopefully mean that this is a bit of P&O IT that will actually work well for a change!

As a confirmed Luddite, I will just have to hope that Covid has moved on sufficiently by late next Summer (when I hope to be aboard Aurora) so that paper/card menus are freely available in the restaurants and bars etc.

This is only a personal point of view. I fully recognise the sense in it and hope it makes life easier for those of you happy to carry your phones around whilst on board.

Once upon a time I looked forward to not having a phone whilst on holiday.  Then that phone became my camera, so being able to be in airplane mode and just connect to the ship is like having a multi function camera.

im hoping others view it the same way and I won’t have people chatting on their phones whilst I’m trying to listen to the pianist in the Crows Next.

Cheap tablets for sale on the ship that are preconfigured apart from logging in would be a huge hit I am guessing…..

P&O launches new onboard app

P&O Cruises (Australia) has launched its first onboard app allowing guests to plan their activities, make bookings and share experiences in real time throughout their cruise.

Available free on personal devices when connected to P&O Cruises’ Wi-Fi, the WhatsOn app provides a new way for holidaymakers to stay in touch during their trip.

The app allows families and friends travelling together to send messages to one another, check in and ‘like’ locations as well as recommend activities, ensuring no one misses out on any holiday fun.

Guests can also book shore tours with a few clicks, check their onboard account, view special promotions available across the ship and keep up to date with the latest news from around the world.

With the app also providing the daily schedule of activities for the entire cruise, guests can book their preferred activities online and create a wish list for each day.

P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell said the app would revolutionise onboard customer service.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer this easy-to-use technology free of charge to all our guests to help them stay connected during their holiday and provide easy access to onboard and shore experiences. It’s as simple as connecting a personal device to the P&O Wi-Fi and opening a browser to discover everything WhatsOn has to offer,” Mr Myrmell said.

“Never again will our guests suffer from missing out or wonder which restaurant or bar their friends are in. This app will be the new must-have item for all P&O guests.”

The app launched across most of the fleet last week with Pacific Aria set to come online later this week.

The cruise line is also rolling out new cash kiosks which will allow guests to transfer money onto their cruise card without needing to queue up at the front desk.

“Australians are getting more and more used to self-service so we thought it was time to bring more of it onboard. We hope that by empowering our guests to organise some elements of their cruise quickly and easily through technology, they’ll have even more time to enjoy their cruise holiday.”

P&O Cruises Launches New Onboard App

p&o cruises onboard app

Source:promomarketing.info

The P&O Cruises on-board app is now available on all ships and can be downloaded for free from the App Store. The app brings thousands of P&O Cruises destinations to your home screen, making it easy for you to navigate a cruise holiday with ease.

P&O Cruises is a UK based company that operates passenger cruise ships worldwide. On April 16th they launched a new onboard app for their ships that will allow passengers to book their journey at home and have all paperless actions completed by the ship.

The UK’s largest cruise line is preparing to set sail again this summer. And as is customary these days, the cruise line has explained its onboard hygiene rules and described how life on board works once guests board the ships.

P&O Cruises UK is also launching a new app to help guests make life on board easier. Passengers need not worry, however, as the cruise line has also released a new video in which Oli Smith explains in detail how the new procedures work.

My Vacation Request

p&o cruises onboard app

The new application introduced by the cruise line is similar to the technological advances introduced by Princess Cruises. Guests can download the app before or during their stay on board. Its use is free; although the application is connected to the Internet, customers are not charged for its use.

The app allows customers to make advance reservations at selected restaurants. Like a British cruise line, the queues are well thought out. With this application, you can virtually stand in line at a restaurant or other on-board event, and arrive exactly on time when it’s your turn.

The My Holiday app allows you to book entertainment and shows on board in due course. For guests who don’t plan to bring their own device on board and want to unplug, there will also be a MyHoliday table on board the cruise line where guests can do the same things as on the app.

P&O Cruises chairman Paul Ludlow said:

The My Holiday app is a tool that allows guests to plan their events from anywhere on the ship. So you can make the most of your precious and long-awaited time on board and get the most out of your holiday with P&O Cruises.

New procedures to be introduced during the stay in the UK

New procedures have been implemented on board to protect the guests of COVID-19 . In preparation for Britannia’s return to service, the ship received external confirmation of health and welfare protocols from Bureau Veritas (BV), a world leader in testing, inspection and certification. The inspection of Iona will be carried out shortly.

Bureau Veritas Maritime and Shipping chairman Mathieu de Toonyi said:

Our passenger ship experts are assisting P&O Cruises with the review of health and welfare standards to ensure the ship is returned to service in accordance with British Chamber of Shipping and Bureau Veritas guidelines. The ship was exceptionally well prepared and we give full credit to the entire crew and management. It will be great to see the Britannia in action again.

For those who want to know what arrangements have been made and what it will be like on board, the cruise line has made an introductory film with British TV presenter, wine expert, columnist and author Oli Smith.

Guests must remain in the terminal before and after boarding the ship and at all times during their stay on the ship, except when eating or drinking, swimming, exercising or in the spa. External masks are only necessary when social distance is not possible.

Holidays in the UK are only open to those who have been fully vaccinated, i.e. seven days after the second dose of the currently licensed COVID-19 vaccine or 14 days after the recently licensed single Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.

The first British holiday aboard the Britannia will take place on 27. June, and the newest Excel-class cruise ship, Iona, will arrive on 7. August for the first time.
