One of the major tourist destinations is "Plimoth Plantation", the village established by the Pilgrims upon arrival in 1620. Unfortunately, the plantation is closed due to coronavirus as of April. Hopefully operations will resume in time for the town's scheduled events and celebrations.

The village of Promyslovka was founded on the current site of Fokino in 1891. Promyslovka was granted urban-type settlement status in 1958, and the nearby naval village of Tikhookeansky followed suit in 1963.

As the settlement grew, Smith and the Native Americans moved north and established a new village on Grand Traverse Bay. The Old Mission Wing is now a registered Michigan Historic Site and is located at 5298 E. 147th Street in Holland, Michigan.
