Using a luggage lock can help keep your belongings safe while you travel. From traditional padlocks and keys to state-of-the-art card locks, there are a ton of options out there for you to choose from.
To help you narrow in on your search, here’s all the information you need to know about using luggage locks, TSA-approved luggage locks, and which luggage locks might be best for you.
A good luggage lock will help to protect your luggage against unnecessary attention from would-be thieves and keep it safe while in transit. A great luggage lock will also be easily accessible for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents that may need to check inside your bag without having to break in or damage your luggage or luggage lock.
Bottom Line: While nothing can completely guarantee the safety of your belongings while you travel, a well-designed locking device can give you an extra layer of protection that you won’t want to be without.
To ensure the continued safety of passengers traveling to and through the U.S., the TSA screens all checked and carry-on luggage before allowing the luggage onto any commercial airline flight. In the majority of cases, pun intended, baggage can be electronically screened, which doesn’t require the bag to be opened. However, on occasion, your luggage may need to be opened by a TSA agent.
To ensure that your luggage is easily accessible to TSA agents while remaining secure and protected while you travel, there are TSA-approved luggage locks. These are designed to be used with a universal “master” key. This master key is only available to the TSA, so agents can access your luggage if needed, but the lock remains locked and luggage inaccessible to anyone else.
TSA-approved locks can be purchased at the airport, your general luggage store, or even online outlets. When purchasing, the locks will clearly say “TSA-approved” on the packaging.
Some TSA-approved locks also come with an indicator to let you know if TSA had to open your bag. The indicator will be red after an inspection or remain green if your bag wasn’t opened. You can easily reset the indicator in seconds using a pointed object, such as a pen or paperclip, so you can reuse the indicator for each trip.
Bottom Line: If you don’t use TSA-approved locks, you run the risk of having your luggage damaged if the TSA isn’t able to access your bag for inspection. TSA agents will break non-approved locks, cut zippers and even snip their way through soft-shell cases to ensure that you don’t have any prohibited goods packed in your luggage. Stay safe and keep your luggage in 1 piece with TSA-approved locks.
All locks are useful, but not all locks are equal. When it comes to keeping your gear safe from harm in transit, there are a variety of different types of TSA-approved locks for you to choose from.
The most traditional of all locking devices, a good old-fashioned padlock needs a proper key to open the device. On the flip side of that, be careful with that key! If you lose the key, you may need to saw the lock apart to get access to whatever is locked inside.
Combination Locks
Using a combination of 3 or 4 digits, you can lock your belongings away from would-be thieves, without having to worry about keeping track of a key. A popular choice with travelers, combination locks are a good choice, assuming you never forget the combination.
If you are forgetful, you can always save the combination on your phone contacts as the last four digits of a phone number. For fans of the TV series “Lost,” “John Locke” is an excellent alias to use for the contact name.
Bottom Line: Given that combination locks are compact and you don’t have to worry about a physical key or card getting lost, they come highly recommended for their ease of use.
Cable Locks
These locks also open with a combination but are more versatile. Cable locks can be used in a variety of situations as they have a semi-flexible cable rather than a stiff metal clip to lock. Not just for suitcases and backpacks, you can even use these for lockers or strongboxes while you are on the go.
Bottom Line: Cable locks are a great alternative to regular combination locks as the flexible cable provides extra versatility.
Retractable Cable Locks
These are similar to cable locks in the sense that you have the option to lock your luggage to a fixed object or other luggage, but these are seemingly more convenient as the cable retracts inside the lock itself. While this sounds great in principle, unfortunately with testing, the locking mechanism seems to fail quite frequently, and to make the cable retractable, the cable itself seems less robust than the cables used in the traditional cable locks.
Bottom Line: Given their tendency to fail and how easy they are to break, retractable cable locks are not recommended.
Key Card Locks
Similar to the cards you use to open hotel doors, key card locks work very similarly. A little bit on the bulky side, these are handy if you want to keep everything in your wallet as the key card will fit nicely in one of your wallet’s credit card folds.
Bottom Line: It’s certainly a personal preference to use these types of locks. Unfortunately, similarly to key locks, if you lose the card, you lose the key, and you will need to cut the lock.

10 best TSA-approved luggage locks: Samsonite, Forge, Away

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reported it screened over 10 million passengers between July 1 and July 5, setting a new record during the pandemic. And while many travelers are focused on staying safe by wearing a mask on the plane, protecting your personal belongings is important, too. One way to do so is by using a luggage lock, which adds an extra layer of security to your bag and the contents inside. As Americans continue to get vaccinated and countries across the world ease Covid-19 travel restrictions , the number of people traveling by air continues to increase, and so may be prioritizing these safety measures.
According to the TSA , travelers can use any lock they’d like on their luggage, but only some locks are TSA-accepted models — locks specifically developed to ensure they can be opened by TSA officers. TSA states it “has been provided universal ‘master’ keys under agreements with Safe Skies Luggage Locks and Travel Sentry so that certain branded locks may not have to be cut to inspect baggage,” and you can find each company’s logo on approved locks.

TSA-accepted models come in a variety of models, from key locks to combination locks (the latter feature a slot for those universal “master” keys). You can use the locks on checked or carry-on baggage like luggage, backpacks, duffel bags and more. Some brands also sell luggage with TSA-accepted luggage locks built into the top or side of the bag.
To help guide your shopping for lock-safe luggage and travel, we rounded up a handful of TSA-accepted luggage locks, as well as suitcases with built-in, TSA-accepted locks from brands like Away , Master Lock , Samsonite and more.

It's light yet durable and works perfectly for carry-ons, backpacks, or small luggage items . We also like the Anvil 3-Digit Cable Lock for its value and lifetime guarantee.
What to Look for When Buying a TSA-Approved Lock
Luggage locks vary quite a bit in price, but you won’t find many over $20. It depends on the level of security you’re looking for: Steel shackle locks can run a bit more expensive, as do keyless options that require a card to unlock. Beware of super-inexpensive options—paying a few dollars more on your luggage lock can make all the difference.
Most TSA-approved locks are made of steel, an ultra-durable material. Steer clear of locks made entirely of rubber or plastic and locks with cables that are anything but steel.
There are a few common styles of TSA-approved locks: combination locks, cable locks, and keyless locks. Consider your personal preferences when choosing: Do you constantly lose your keys? Stay away from locks that require one to open. Need a bit of flexibility to lock up a bag with small zipper holds? Look for a super-strong cable lock with a thinner cable. Anxious about someone cracking your combination code? Opt for a card-access lock.
Every TSA-approved lock will have a red diamond logo, also known as a Travel Sentry logo. This means it’s compatible with the universal keys that TSA agents have to unlock these approved locks.
Not necessarily. Most cable locks are made with durable steel cables—you’d need a heavy-duty wire cutter to break through. If that still worries you, choose a steel shackled lock instead; just know that they are less flexible in terms of what you can affix them to (larger shackles don’t often work well with smaller zipper pulls).
It’s not illegal to lock your luggage with a non-approved lock, but you are running the risk of a TSA agent cutting your lock off should they need to search your bag. There isn’t often a price difference between TSA-approved and non-approved locks, so you’re always better off going with one that the TSA can access.
Erika Owen is a frequent traveler who doesn’t leave home for a trip without her favorite TSA-approved lock. She also put four hours of research and review analysis into this story and has personally tested several of the brands mentioned in this article including Lewis N. Clark and Master Lock.

6 best TSA-approved luggage locks
Posted: November 15, 2023 | Last updated: November 15, 2023
Keeping your luggage secure while you’re on vacation — or getting to and from your destination — is of utmost importance, especially considering the value of the devices many of us bring along with us. Luggage locks are a significant first step to protecting your valuables, whether your suitcase is chilling in your hotel room, in a luggage storage facility, or passing through many hands as it makes its way from the airport to the plane and back.
We’ve rounded up six of the best luggage locks — all approved by the TSA — for your next trip . Shop them below to ensure your goods stay with you the whole journey.
The Forge Store TSA Approved Luggage Locks : $23.95 at Amazon
If you’re not great at remembering combinations, especially after a bit of jet lag, this set locks with keys instead (two per lock so you can split with your travel companion).
- Keys mean you don’t have to remember a combination
- There’s no chance thieves can guess a combination
- If you lose or break your keys, that might be a problem
- Won’t work with some suitcase closures
Lewis N. Clark TSA Approved Padlock & Bike Lock for Luggage + Travel : $15.99
This lock has a thin but strong cable that retracts so you can loop it around a number of items you need to lock up, whether it’s file cabinets, your suitcase or your bike — meaning you can use it during or after your travels.
- Put in on your bike when you’re not using it for travel
- Thirty inches of cabling makes it easy to secure
- Cable might not be long enough for some bike parking situations
- Not great for those bad at remembering combinations
Samsonite Luggage Strap, Orange Tiger, Combination Lock : $15
If your suitcase proves tricky to lock at the zips, use this luggage strap instead — it fits around the exterior of your suitcase for easy-on, easy-off (and great security the rest of the time).
- Stretches to fit most suitcases
- Easy to adjust and won’t slip on your suitcase
- TSA can easily slice them open
- Might not cover your zipper enough to be secure
Airbolt The Portable Smart Lock : $59.99
Billed as the “world’s most versatile smart lock,” the Airbolt is opened via smartphone for super-secure luggage storage. Grant access to family and friends so everyone has access, too.
- No keys to lose or combinations to forget
- Get alerts if you leave what’s locked behind
- Don’t let your phone die! (There are backup codes for access though)
- May be too high tech for some users
Talonport Keyless TSA Approved Luggage Lock (Set of 4) : $49.99
When you don’t want keys, an app or a code to remember, this lifetime-never-cut-guaranteed lock is here to keep your belongings super-safe. If you ever lose your keys, they’ll send you replacements, too.
- Don’t have to worry about keys, codes, or apps
- Key cards slip handily in your wallet
- Keys can fall out of stretched-out wallet sleeves
- You’ll have to wait to replace your key card if you lose them all
Forge Luggage Locks TSA Approved 4-Pack (Black) : $23.95 (33% off, originally $35.95)
This quad of locks lets you keep your souvenirs and valuables safe en route or in the hotel room, and they have a little red button that pops up if a TSA agent has inspected what’s inside.
- Set of four locks is enough for two bags for you, and two for your travel buddy
- Unconditional lifetime guarantee
- Shackle can be short for some
- No key backup

Luggage Locks: Should You Lock Your Luggage When You Fly?

See recent posts by Ricky Radka
Watching your checked luggage disappear into the ether behind the bag drop counter can cause anxiety. Will it make that tight connection? Get lost along the way? Or worse, will everything you packed inside stay there? While there's little that can help with the separation anxiety, there might be a solution to calm your nerves on the last worry — luggage locks.
For travelers who often align themselves with the “better safe than sorry” mantra, here’s a rundown on the pros and cons of luggage locks and which are best at keeping your suitcase secure.
Benefits of Locking Up Your Luggage
Simply, they are a cheap and effective way to discourage any bad apples in the baggage department from treating your suitcase like a sample stand at Costco. And as a bonus, luggage locks also double as devices to restrict your suitcase’s zippers from inching apart during travels and preventing items from tumbling out along the tarmac.
But beyond the airport is where they may prove most valuable. Many travelers feel more at ease stowing their luggage in designated sections of crowded trains, buses, or at hotels when they’re sturdily secured.
Limitations of Locking Up Your Luggage
Just by buckling up your baggage with a lock doesn’t ensure it’s in the clear. While luggage locks will certainly deter most opportunistic thieves, it’s not an ironclad defense. In the off chance your bag needs a secondary search, a lock will not prohibit TSA from opening it up for an in-depth dive. Fort Knox it’s not.
The extra security can also backfire if you happen to misplace the key or after a long-haul flight blanks your brain of the combo code at arrivals.

When purchasing a luggage lock, the first feature you should look for is that it’s TSA compliant. That old rotary combination used to lock up your gym gear back in high school most likely won’t pass, no matter how you spin it.
Most TSA approved locks are labeled with a symbol that looks like a red diamond to denote that it’s up to code . Non-approved locks that the TSA’s universal master key is unable to open will be broken off, potentially leading to busted zippers and other damage if your bag warrants further inspection. So to keep your luggage in one piece, here are five styles of approved luggage locks to suit your case.

Alternative options to luggage locks.
Inside many airports, you'll see baggage-wrapping stations, and while the wraps do provide another perimeter of protection from both crooks and cracks your suitcase might encounter. The amount of plastic waste is excessive. For a budget/eco-friendly alternative, opt for twist ties like you'd find sealing a loaf of bread or some biodegradable zips . Just remember to keep some nail clippers in your carry-on to help cut them off afterward if needed. Better yet, pose for a personalized luggage cover from SuitFaces and keep would-be muggers away with a humorous picture of yours.
If you’re in the market for some new luggage, Coolife and Samsonite both offer a wide variety of hard-sided options with TSA approved lock systems already built-in. For short trips that call for smaller bags to schlep. Have a look at our best anti-theft options that incorporate hidden zippers and compartments to keep your items safe from sticky fingers.
Bottom Line
Luggage locks are a helpful way to provide a sense of security and add another impediment to keep bandits at bay. However, they aren’t a surefire way to guarantee your items will be safe. And can do more harm than good if you misplace a key or forget your combo. If you do decide that bolting up your baggage is best for some peace of mind, just make sure your lock is TSA approved .
Ultimately, whether you choose to lock your bag is up to you, but as a rule, always take essential items with you on-board in your carry-on. That includes medicine, travel documents, currency, or any other belongings you deem irreplaceable. In the rare instance, your checked bag weighs lighter off the carousel than it did at check-in

To find the top locks, we asked our readers to vote for their favorites, and the results are in. These are the 10 best TSA approved locks for 2023.

No. 10: Swiss Gear TSA Key Lock
The Swiss Gear TSA Key Lock has a steel shackle that fits through the majority of zipper pulls and sliders, making it a nice choice for a luggage lock. No. 9: SureLock TSA Compatible Travel Luggage Locks
With a SureLock Luggage Lock, you'll be sure to keep your luggage and belongings safe. This combination lock is equipped with a 4-inch cable, allowing for flexibility in what you secure, as well as a pop-up indicator to let you know your baggage has been opened and searched.

No. 8: Lewis N. Clark Travel Sentry Bar Lock
The bar shape of the Lewis N. Clark Travel Sentry Bar Lock sets it apart from other similar locks. Combine its unique shape with its steel cable and you have a 3-digit combination lock that you can use just about anywhere.

No. 7: MYPIN Fingerprint Lock
Step into the future with the MYPIN Fingerprint Lock, a keyless option that allows you to open a lock with your biometric data. Add up to 10 authorized fingerprints to be able to share the lock with family or friends on your next trip.

No. 6: Lumintrail 3 Digit Combination Lock with Cable
The Lumintrail 3 Digit Combination Lock comes with a 4-foot steel cable, allowing you to secure bags to each other or to a fixed object, or secure zipper pulls. The lock also comes in three colors – silver, black or red – making for easy bag identification.

No. 5: Forge Dimple Key Locks
Forge claims to make "the toughest luggage locks around," and they back that up with a lifetime guarantee on their products. Patented internal mechanisms that include a hardened steel tumbler system will help you rest easy, knowing your luggage is safe. Plus, every lock in a pack shares the same key, enabling you to carry just one key to open multiple locks.

No. 4: TUMI Alpha TSA Lock
Sleek and effective, the TUMI Alpha TSA Lock requires a 3-digit combination to release. Its simple clasp design easily slips through zipper pulls to secure your belongings.

No. 3: Anvil TSA 4 Digit Locks
The ease of setting your personal combination makes the Anvil 4 Digit Lock extra appealing. In just 20 seconds, you can twist and push the shackle and rotate the dials to your preferred security code. The steel shackle and zinc alloy body make this lock tough enough to handle a rough trip.

No. 2: AirBolt The Portable Smart Lock
With the AirBolt smart lock, there's no need to worry about forgetting a pesky combination. You can simply release the lock using the AirBolt app on your smartphone. Even better, the lock is trackable, which means your luggage is trackable. To top it all off, just one battery charge lasts up to 12 months.

No. 1: Talonport Keyless TSA Approved Luggage Lock

Guide to the Best TSA Approved Luggage Locks – Which Lock to Choose
We’ve done the research to find the best TSA approved luggage locks. Many travelers ask, “should I lock my luggage?” Yes, however, you should only travel with a luggage lock that has the dual function of locking your luggage while still allowing for inspection of your bags by the TSA. You may need to upgrade your luggage lock to a TSA approved lock, here’s why. The Transportation Security Administration of the United States Department of Homeland Security knows as the TSA protects the nation’s airports and screens all commercial airline passengers and their baggage to keep us safe while flying. If you don’t use TSA accepted luggage locks you risk removal of your locks by a TSA inspector and potential damage to your bags.
What are TSA Approved Luggage Locks?
Where are TSA Locks Recognized?
In addition, to the US and US territories, the UK, Canada, and Australia are also using this system. In other countries, they may flag your bag for inspection. Usually, they require you to open it at the counter when you are physically present unlike in the US, where they may do it later after you have checked your bags. In this case, you are not present to unlock your luggage lock, and the airport agents have the right to break your luggage lock if it is not a TSA accepted lock.
Different Types of TSA Accepted Luggage Locks & Their Unique Functions
triple lockdown luggage lock, tarriss tsa luggage lock with searchalert (2 pack) .
The SearchAlert indicator button is a feature that lets you know if the TSA has opened your bag while it was out of your possession during the baggage handling process. The indicator light changes from green to red once the TSA inserts their passkey into your lock to unlock it. The window will not go back to green once they removed their passkey, only you can reset the indicator window back to green. The locks are one of the best TSA approved luggage locks because of the SearchAlert feature.
TSA Flexible Cable Luggage Lock

This lock design is probably the easiest to use. A strong, durable, flexible steel cable, (coated in rubber) is designed to thread more easily through the holes in zipper pulls than a hard formed shank. Also, the wider design has dials that are easier to see and use. The combination numbers are on the edge and easier to set and read. Another great feature of this lock is how easy it is to set the combination of the lock with the included screwdriver. Cable locks are thin enough to thread through all standard sized zippers and hard case lock holes but strong enough to protect your belongings. TSA approved luggage lock cable measures 4 in from end to end and has an internal looped length of 1.5 in when locked. Click here to read more!

Pacsafe Strapsafe 100 L uggage Strap

Baggage Constrictor TM technology means the strap cannot be loosened when locked. Great for hard case luggage! When the TSA secured access device is used to open the lock, the lock’s security window changes color from green to red. When you retrieve your luggage, all you have to do is look at the Search Alert security window. If it is still green, no one has entered your bag. Click here to read more!
Buying New Luggage?
Now you can purchase suitcases with built-in TSA-approved locks . This feature eliminates the chances of you losing a lock during the baggage handling process or otherwise. Another reason to consider a new bag with a built-in TSA lock is that most bags with built-in locks are “hard-sided” and virtually impossible for an opportunistic thief to breach, offering more security for your possessions than soft-sided bags which could be sliced open. Here are a few well-priced, good-value suggestions.

A Guide to the Different Styles of Luggage Locks
Protecting your possessions and valuables inside your luggage is the purpose of a luggage lock. Buying a good quality lock just makes sense, especially when you compare the cost of your luggage contents to the price of locks. Depending on your preferences you can find a lock style that is just right for you. Here is a summary of the various styles of TSA approved luggage locks.
Key Lock: This is a lock that is opened with a key. The good news is you do not need to remember a combination. The bad news is if you lose the key, you’ll need to cut the lock off. This will require bolt cutters or a saw that cuts metal. When traveling think about bringing the second key and keeping it secure (not in your luggage.)
Combination Lock: This style of TSA approved luggage lock uses either 3 numbers or 4 numbers. If you choose this type of lock you won’t need to worry about a key. This style of lock is the most common one travelers choose. Make sure to select a lock that is sturdy and with easy to read dials that are easy to turn. Another easy use tip is to select a slightly larger lock as it is easier to use than super small locks.
Wordlock: The WordLock luggage lock is locked with words instead of numbers. Words for some people are easier to remember than numbers. The combination is a four-letter word. This lock style is fully TSA approved which allows entry and relocking by airport security.
Cable Lock: The benefit of a cable TSA approved luggage lock is easy to use. The cables are rubber coated flexible steel cables. They are easier to thread through small locks than hard-formed steel shanks.
Beyond Luggage Locks and Checked Bags
Locked bags discourage opportunistic thieves who will take advantage of bags without locks. However, even the most robust locks will not keep out those who are truly determined to break into your bag. That’s why we always recommend that you should place any valuables, including medications, electronics, and jewelry in your carry-on bag and not your checked luggage. If you must place an item of value in your luggage, take photos of it and your bag. It’s also worth it to investigate various travel and trip insurance policies to see if they cover loss as airlines typically don’t accept liability for the loss of expensive items such as jewelry, electronic equipment, or fragile souvenirs.
Final thought
After weighing the benefits of traveling with one of the best TSA approved luggage locks or not we suggest you protect your gear with a TSA approved lock.

Suitcase Locks Are Basically Useless, but There Is One Way to Keep Your Stuff Safe

So you've packed your bags for your upcoming travels and even brought along some valuables like your electronics and a few jewels. Not to worry: You have your trusty luggage lock, which should keep your stuff safe, right?
According to experts, you may want to think twice about your travel safety precautions.
In 2014, several blogs, including Techlicious , noticed the Washington Post made the fatal error of publishing a photo of the TSA's master keys (the photos were since removed). The photo gave would-be thieves around the world all the information they'd need to 3D print their own copies, thus giving them the power to unlock any and all TSA-approved travel luggage locks ever made.
Ars Technica even tested out the 3D-printed version of the keys and were able to print, use, and break into a locked bag with ease.
However, even without all this fancy tech, the locks do little to actually protect your luggage. In fact, any motivated thief can rip open your bag without breaking the lock and without leaving a single trace behind. All they need is a simple ballpoint pen.
As WonderHowTo explained, all a thief has to do is simply move your luggage locks to the side of a bag, insert a pen tip along the seam of the zipper, break the seam apart and open your bag. Once they are done rummaging through your things, they can then reseal the bag by bringing the zipper back around, at which point the zipper will self-heal, and you'll be none the wiser (until you realize all your stuff is missing).
So how can you really protect your stuff while traveling? As the video shows, if you seriously need to carry expensive gear, you may want to invest in a hard case and use your own high-security locks. But be warned: When using your own locks, TSA requires you to wait for your bags to go through the scanner at check-in before you can leave them, so make sure to give yourself ample time at the airport. (Or you could always carry your valuables on the plane with you, which is all-around a safer bet.)

How To Know If Your Luggage Lock Is TSA Approved

For all of the exciting rewards and experiential benefits travel offers up, it also comes with an inevitable collection of potential risks. When airlines are included in your travel experience, one of those risks is damage to your luggage. Sometimes an airline damages your checked luggage as a result of being mishandled in transit. Other times, it comes down to that luggage lock you placed before departure.
Many travelers put a lock on their checked luggage in the hopes of further protecting their personal belongings. However, that lock may have to be broken off during the check-in process. This would be done by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the government agency responsible for airport security checks across the U.S.
Around 1.4 million checked bags are screened by TSA daily. Agents are charged with looking for everything from dangerous items to potential explosives. Beyond baggage screens, TSA agents also have the right to physically inspect the interior of bags. Doing so will require the forced removal of any locks you've placed on your luggage that aren't TSA approved.
While passengers aren't required to fly with a TSA approved lock on their luggage, it certainly makes inspections easier. It can also reduce the risk of damage to your luggage while helping you avoid paying for a lock that will only end up unusable after an inspection. Fortunately, knowing if your luggage lock is TSA approved is both simple and easy.
Purchase locks through TSA partner companies
The easiest way to know for sure if your luggage lock is TSA approved is to determine what company manufactured it. Currently, the TSA has master keys to locks produced by both Travel Sentry and Safe Skies Luggage Locks. The agreements between these companies and TSA allow agents who need to inspect passenger bags to use a master key to open and replace the locks safely and easily without having to destroy them in the process.
Both companies provide products with patented, TSA approved locking mechanisms in place. Travel Sentry first came about in 2003 and Safe Skies Luggage Locks followed closely behind in 2004. With TSA agreements firmly in place, these approved luggage lock companies provide passengers with easy access to purchasing their products online and in stores across the globe.
The websites for Safe Skies Luggage Locks and Travel Sentry both clearly outline their partnership with TSA and how the locks can be easily removed without having to be "clipped" during inspections. Safe Skies Luggage Locks has a lifetime warranty in place on their products. In the event the lock is mistakenly clipped, they'll replace it free of charge.
Look for those bold logos
Another great indicator that you're traveling with a TSA approved luggage lock is an easy-to-identify logo. Both Travel Sentry and Safe Skies Luggage Locks have opted for eye-catching red logos to stand out in a crowd. The locks themselves can differ in shape and size but whether you purchase a dial lock, a lock and key variety, or a cable lock, the red logos are a constant.
Travel Sentry products come with a bold red diamond logo on every product they produce. If you've purchased a TSA approved product through Safe Skies Luggage Locks, your lock will come with a red torch logo on the front instead. Both make it clear to TSA agents that your bags can easily be inspected as needed without hassle.
Anytime you have the option of making travel smooth and reducing stress, it's an effort worth investing in. Purchasing a TSA approved luggage lock helps security agents with inspecting your bags and cuts down on the number of locks you'll have to buy over time. It's a simple act that can go a long way toward improving your travel experience.

Does anyone know how much does it cost to store your baggage at Vnukovo Airport and how secure the storage is?
I could only find the information about luggage storage at Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo, it is 500 rubles a day, but there was no information about Vnukovo.
Thanks in advance!

Should be about the same...
Their website says R500 per day per bag, midnight to midnight...
Does anyone know where to weight the baggage at Vnukovo Airport before boarding just to know if he is carrying as per allowance?

> where to weight the baggage at Vnukovo Airport before boarding just to know if he is carrying as per allowance?
Right at check-in. If you don't like what you see on the weight display, you can step aside and make necessary adjustments, drink excess vodka, eat excess caviar, throw away excess gold etc.

Indeed, i had the very same thought...I usually just ask hotel for a scale...but I suppose one could get one of those cool travel vests and put your gold ingot bars in the 10-12 pockets...

This product comes in a number of packing combinations but it offers only two colors – orange and black. The different combinations in which you can buy these TSA approved locks are in packs of 6 locks, 4 locks, 2 locks, and 1 lock. This product has two main parts – the main body built from a special alloy, and the shackle which is not a solid metal one but braided shackles made from sheathed steel.
The beauty of using a braided shackle is that it affords the flexibility of a rope along with the strength of a metal. You can use the braided shackle to secure the lock in any situation where a normal shackle wouldn’t be able to fit in. This lock can withstand pulls of up to 220 pounds because of the strength of the braided shackle.
TSA Approved Locks with Alloy Body
This is one and half times greater than what most other locks in the market can provide. One more advantage of a braided shackle in place of a full metal shackle is that the metal ones can sometimes get stuck in awkward positions while being thrown around by airline employees while handling traveler baggage. The flexible braided shackle prevents this from happening.
These TSA approved locks have a 3 digit security code which you can set as many times as you want. The smooth lever mechanism of the 3 wheels (black colored, with bright numbers etched in white) allows you to set each number very easily. Unlike other locks, the numbers do not go back to earlier combinations due to sliding. Also, there are no pin holes to be manipulated with pins or screwdrivers to be turned when you want to reset. You just take the combination back to the factory setting of 0-0-0, and then the level needs to be turned externally.
Easy Set Combination Switch
This can be done only when the lock is open, so no one can reset the combination, and the combination can’t be reset inadvertently when it is locked. One more advantage of the number wheels of this lock is that the numbers are white and fluorescent, and their black background makes the numbers very easy to read, even in the bright lights of an airport.
One issue that many best tsa approved luggage locks have is that when they are actually inspected by a TSA agent at the airport, the post-inspection is a pain. That is because the TSA agents usually forget to lock your baggage back and it stays that way till you notice it and lock it again. But this Forge product is so designed that unless the agent locks your lock back again properly, his key can’t be removed. This keeps your baggage secure after the agent has done his duty.
Although the concept of TSA approved locks is aligned to travel and travel luggage, yet this product from Forge can be used is several other situations as well. You could easily use it for your gym locker or laptop bag or even on your briefcase, when you are traveling or when you are at your school, office or gymnasium.
Best Forge Travel Locks
The locks are very reasonably priced and if you can order the bigger packs and take your billing amount beyond $20 then your shipping is free. You also get an unconditional lifetime guaranty on this product which not only saves you the hassle and expense of repairs later but also indicates the confidence Forge has on this product.
Overall, we found more pros on this product than cons. We also spoke to a few customers and actual users to see what they felt after actually going through their trips using this lock. The benefits were all agreed to by the travelers but they did point out a few flaws as well, which shall recount below under ‘disadvantages’ section.
Advantages of Forge Travel Locks
- Robust alloy body and strong cable braided shackles
- The shackle is able to withstand very high pressures
- The shackle is also very flexible
- Different pack sizes to fit all needs – 1 lock, 2 locks, 4 locks, and 6 locks
- Two choices of color – bright orange or black
- The product is TSA approved
- If TSA agents miss locking the lock once they have finished their inspection, they can’t take out their master key
- Apart from travel, it can also be used for several other purposes
- Combination setting is pretty simple
- Combination numbers are easy to view
- The manufacturer provides a replacement in case the buyer is not satisfied
- There is a lifetime guarantee provided on the product with no questions

- Some more colors would have been welcome.
