KOREAN VISA: LIST OF TRAVEL AGENCIES Accredited by the Embassy

KOREAN VISA: LIST OF TRAVEL AGENCIES Accredited by the Embassy

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double check with the authorities or other concerned entities for the latest updates.

Last updated: DECEMBER 13, 2019.

Here’s the list of TRAVEL AGENCIES officially designated by the Korean Embassy to accept KOREAN VISA APPLICATIONS. We also added their many branches and phone numbers.

The process of applying for a South Korean visa is straightforward. Getting one is easy, as long as you have all of the documents and meet the requirements. Before, you could go to the embassy and apply for one on your own. But because the number of Korean visa applicants have doubled over the past two years, the Korean Embassy has enlisted the help of carefully chosen travel agencies to receive the applications for them starting July 1, 2018.

Yep, tourist visa applications must now be coursed through one of their officially designated travel agencies. This means that from this date onward, the embassy will no longer accept walk-in applicants or any direct applications for a temporary visit visa (with some exceptions). Note that the Korean Consulate in Cebu is NOT affected by this and will continue to accept direct applications on site. But if you prefer to apply via agency, we also included accredited agency branches in Cebu.

Although the visa itself will most likely remain free-of-charge, these agencies will surely be collecting processing fees. The rates will vary, but it’s usually between P500 and P1500. Once it takes effect, contact these agencies and compare prices and identify which one is the most convenient to get to.

Here’s how to apply for a Korean visa:

✅ korean visa requirements & application process.

Anyway, here’s the list of embassy-accredited agencies, their various offices around the country, and their respective contact details. We’re not sure whether or not all the branches listed below are prepared to receive Korean visa applications so get in touch with them before showing up at their office.

No prob! Thanks for visiting!

helen

when it will take effect for the said accredited travel agency for filling a Korean Visa

Hi Helen, no word about the start date yet. It was supposed to begin on May 14 but there seems to have been a delay.

Aldz

The list is incomplete. There are ten other agents accredited by the KR embassy announced last year.

Added! Thanks!

Heike

Thank you very much for this informative post. Are the agencies on the list located only in Manila? I hope you can find the time to separate the agencies by regions. I could use a list of agencies in Cebu for visayas applicants.

Hi Heike! We’re working on it. Check back soon. ;)

Ruby Vitug

ABS CBN News said it would start on July 1. I am also interested to know if there is an accredited travel agency in Pampanga. Thanks in advance.

There are a few in Angeles City :)

Alms

Hi, how about the bdo and bpi cc card is it still applicable if it is thru this tour agencies?

Elena caipas

How about Baguio Maam’s/sir?

Hi Elena, wala po sa research namin. What you can do is apply at a local travel agency who will coordinate with an official agency. Kasi syempre, mas tataas ung singil nun kasi may patong ung local agency.

MARILYN EO

how about in bacolod city po?

Jhackie

What about those who have travelled to OECD countries within 5 years? Do we also need to go through the agencies? Kasi what I have understood is this is for the first time applicants?

Everyone applying for a tourist short stay visa will have to course it through an agency regardless of whether or not it’s your first time, unless you’re applying in Cebu.

Ella

I will be applying from Cebu and have been to 4 OECD Countries – France, Germany, UK, Greece.

Will I have any problem?

Hi Ella, it’s hard for me to say po if magkakaproblem or hindi kasi it’s based on a lot of factors, not just the OECD countries.

Anjho

How about Quezon City especially in Cubao Area. Thanks

JEY

Is it allowed a representative to submit the application in behalf of the applicant?

roxanne

I already have a visa and I want to travel with my sister who is 66 yrs old and a retiree . Can she apply for a korean visa using my documents, me to fund her travel?

Hi Roxanne, they might still look for her bank documents, but yes, you can sponsor her trip. For better chances, submit a cover letter and affidavit of support.

Allen Sivley

Any agencies on Negros Occidental?

Wala pa kami alam if meron sa Negros Occidental. We’ll add if may makita kami.

Jane Rausan

Hello! Would this also mean that the applicant is required to avail for the tour package with the accredited travel agent? Thank you!

No. You can still travel on your own. You just need to course the visa application through an agency. Just the visa application.

Jenny Paningbatan

How about the ticket ? Would it still be possible to avail the ticket online? Or the ticket is only mandatory through agency. Thnakyou

Ticket is not a requirement to get a Korean visa. You can book online, you can book via agency. Doesn’t matter.

ching

hi sir wala po ba sa cagayan de oro na accrediated agency po to apply korean visa?

Hi Ching, as of now, parang wala pa.

Ndubuisi chinonso Joshua

Hi sir I need south Korea visa how can I apply it

This post might help: https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2018/05/new-korean-visa-requirements-application/

Marilou C.Hernandez

Hi Marilou, for unemployed tapos 3 months mag-stay, medyo mahihirapan ka ma-approve. Usually pag unemployed, mahihirapan talaga kahit 3 days lang yung stay, mas lalo yung 3 months.

Cheryl

Hi, I have bpi gold card..pwede pa ba yon?

Che

Pano po yung bdo and bpi gold cardholders? Need pa rin ba mag travel agency or direct na apply sa embassy?

Travel agency.

Polland

Worst JTB is Vertis North. Keep away. Their staff are not equal in competence, and their guidelines are ever-changing (each visit). Better visit a different agency.

jessa cerelegia

hello Yosh!

I am currently unemployed pero meron akong small business like nagpapautang ako ng mga mobile phones but no business permit nor ITR. do you think they will accept it as my rootedness? I have all the receipts as a proof. lahat ng receipts nakapangalan sakin. I have my husband who will support my trip. hoping for your reply. Thank you.

Hi Jessa, business registration, meron? Kasi if may receipt ka na nai-issue, baka may business registration ka whether BIR, DTI or SEC? Pwede mo isubmit yun.

what I mean sa receipts is yun yung mga resibo ng mga phones na binili ko from the phone store. wala din po akong business registration.

Ah, hmmm, mukhang mahirap kapag ganyan. Consult ka na lang sa travel agency since mandatory naman na dumaan sa travel agency. Baka mas may alam sila. :)

Jessa

Sige po thank you so much. Pero may isa pa akong hirit. My mom owns a small sari-sari store. Meron syang business permit before from the Barangay pero hindi nya na na renew. Do you think it is helpful kung ipapangalan na lang sakin yung store but the business permit is from Barangay. Is it acceptable?

If soon ka mag-aapply, kahit ipangalan sayo ung business permit, fishy pa rin yun kasi recent lang ipangalan sayo. Most likely hindi pa rin nila itutrust yun, given kung gaano ka-strict ang Korean Embassy lately. And kahit magsubmit ka ng permit, hihingi at hihingi pa rin sila ng ITR and business registration from DTI or SEC, kasi nasa requirements yun.

Jojo Liban

Hi, I am an OFW and I want to treat my family of 5 to a tour in Korea.

Thsnk you in Advance po,

Hi Jojo, baka meron kayong equivalent nung ITR sa country kung saan kayo nagwork? Tax document?

regarding family application, di ako ganun ka-familiar sa policy pag family application kasi di ko pa naranasan. Best to call na lang any of the travel agencies sa list sa taas. :)

Ggg

Warren

Hi ofw ako sa uae. Im travelling to korea sa november pero pagcheck ko sa requirements dito eh more than 6 months dapat ang uae residence visa ko. My visa will expire in less than 4 months. May ibang option pa ba?

Hi Warren, naku, I’m not familiar with the policy pag dyan sa UAE.

Concepcion

Hi my daughter wants to visit korea good for 3 days. She is a tourism student can she be given a visa with $2,000 show money, aside from her pocket money?

Hi Concepcion, assuming all other requirements are met, yes, that’s a good amount for show money for a 3-day trip. :)

lou

,.”hi good morning…ofw ako here in Thailand, just asking po i want to travel in Korea just a couple of days lng…dpo ba mahirap if mag.isa lng ako…ano po documents needed to apply a visa?thank you

Hi Lou, if sa Thailand ka mag-apply, di ko alam yung requirements kasi madalas iba-iba yung requirements/process ng Korean Embassy per mission/location.

But if sa Pinas ka mag-apply, same requirements lang or equivalent documents. Kunyari, instead na ITR, ung equivalent na tax document from Thailand ung isusubmit. Tapos dagdag ka na lang ng cover letter to explain.

James

Hi please recommend an agency that could process tourist visa for korea. I live in santiago city isabela

Pili na lang po kayo ng pinakamalapit sa inyo sa list.

Rachel Scy

Hi po. Matanong ko lang. Bago lng po ako sa company ko. Started Aug 7 and do you think po ok lng namag-aapply ako for visa? Thank you :)

If may past work ka before ka magwork sa current company mo, pwede naman. You can submit yung ITR from your previous company.

If first work mo yang current company mo, yan yung mas mahirap kasi ibig sabihin wala ka pa ITR. Pwede pa rin i-try, pero greater ang risk pag ganun.

MAAG

Hi, how much is the processing fee?

Depends on the agency. Usually between P700 and P1000

carm

Helo po .. ask ko lang po , mag tour po sana ako sa korea on march (12 days po sana) kaso sa requirements po kasi walang ofw, ofw po ako for 4 years and kakauwi ko lng last sept25 , so ngayon wla pa po akong work , nag aapply po ulit , so wala po akong mga ITR , ano po pwede ko isubmit . Thanks and how much po ang recommended na show money para sa 12 days. Thank you ..

Hi Carm, di ko po alam pag ganyan situation po. Kung nakapili ka na ng travel agency kung saan ka mag-aapply, best to call them na lang para sigurado.

Gabrielle

Angel

What about sa Bacolod City po na agency meron po ba?

Wala pang designated agency sa Bacolod sa list.

Erika

Hi Yoshke! If an American citizen is currently in the Philippines for holiday and decided to visit Korea for 5 days.. need pa ba nya Ng visa from the Philippines to Korea? Or exempted sya?

Pero I think ico-course pa rin nila through a designated agency if di sila accredited so better talaga if through a designated agency na lang para bawas middleman.

Jhensky

Good pm po paano po un mgaaply po ako ng korean visa pero un ITR ko last 2015 pa po pwede po ba un? My current work ako now pero tax free na kc

Kung nagfa-file ung employer mo ng ITR for you, dapat meron. Pero kung hindi, ibig sabihin wala ka talaga ITR. In that case, mas mahihirapan ka kumuha ng visa. You can try explaining it sa isang letter pero di yung guarantee.

Hi Andie, did they give you the reason bakit denied?

Cristine R. Mansz

Hi I thought applying through a travel agency is easier pero they actually make it more complicated. Mas marami pa clang requirements kesa pag ikaw ang magaapply. I have been applying my Visa on my own. And this is the first time I had to go through an agency mas marami pa clang kaartehan na hinahanap kesa sa embassy am hoping that they would allow personal visa applications again. Kung tutuusin it’s additional business for them pero mas pinahihirapan nila ang Tao.

Hi Cristine, di na raw kasi nila kaya yung volume ng applications. So ayun.

edge

hi ,i have a question po. What will i do..? I am an online teacher my student is inviting me. and i want to visit and see my student in person din..I live in Baguio , pero kaylangan kong bumaba to get my visa sa taguig?and i don’t know there is an accredited agency dito sa baguio pra sa processing..it will be my first time to travel abroad.

Hi Edge, ang alam ko, okay lang na mag-apply through mail. Hanap ka lang ng agency na tumatanggap nun.

You can also apply at a local travel agency dyan sa Baguio tapos sila na mag-coordinate with an official agency. Pero syempre, mas tataas ung singil nun kasi may patong ung local agency.

visa to travel in South Korea pala..i won’t stay long maybe more or less 10-15 days lang.

Mayrell Dela Rosa

Hi. Good day. I would like to ask is it possible to process my korean visa in philippines i’m here in saudi working i’m going vacation in july 5 and planning to travel in korea by july19-23. Thank you.

ces

My boyfriend and I will go to Korea this November, his source of income is by trading. What are additional requirements for him

Vivian

Good day, po gusto ko po saan itanong about sa process ng korean visa w/ an invitation, may invitation papers na po ako from my sister and brother-in-law, at kasama na rin ung bank statements ng brother-in-law ko , but I don’t have a bank acc. It’s is possible to process po kaya? kasi sila po ang mag sponsor sa pagpunta at pag stay ko dun.? Thank in advance

Hi Vivian, as far as I know, need mo pa rin magpakita ng sarili mong financial docs kahit sponsored. But you can call na lang yung agency kung saan mo plan mag-apply and sa kanila ka mag-consult to be sure.

Ikami

Good day po. I am asking about visa requirements. Particularly po sa employee who must include their certificate of appointment or appointment order.

I lost my appointment order. I asked if the division office could issue another one for me (though they have a copy too), but they said there won’t be another, and that they won’t give their copy. Pwede pong photocopy only? yan lang yung naiwan sakin.

please respond.

Hirae

Hello po. Kailangan pa po ba ng “show money” going to Korea if invited to an event which I already registered/paid for? Included na kase dun sa bayad ang hotel, food tsaka tour. Please respond.

Annalyn

Hi, im invited by a korean, how much ill it cost for working visa and how long… Thank you…

Maria

Hi! My familly is planning to go to Korea. However, I’m currently unemployed but my parents will support the trip. Its a graduation gift kasi. Should I prepare some letter or something? Please help. Thank you

For specific cases like that, you can directly ask the designated agency where you plan to lodge your application. :)

Cy

Hi, Good day! If the agency was suspended is it still okay to process my visa with them when the suspension is lifted? It’s the only one accredited in my City.

I think it’s okay when the suspension is lifted.

Kim

Hi! How long does it take now to process visa application? 2 of the travel agencies I inquired said ” it takes 25 working days now or beyond. No guarantee in tentative release date “.

Hi Kim, they changed it again yesterday.

Now it’s 25-30 working days.

Ros

Hi need ba na may BIR stamp yung 2316 (for employee)? Thanks

Nick G. Acuna

Hi good day, I am self employed, just need clarification if its BIR Form 1701 I should prepare and not Form 2316 ( for employees). Hoping for your early reply, Thank You

ASHLEY ANNE LLANDER

For Americans: Guide to South Korea Visa Application and Requirements

BLOG POST PHOTOS - For Americans Guide to South Korea Visa Application and Requirements

Americans trying to obtain a visa to visit or work in South Korea can be a daunting task. For Americans looking to visit, travel, work, or live in Korea, there may be lots of questions like, “what visa type should I apply for? What requirements are there?” and lots more.

We will take a look at and address things like visa requirements including some information about K-ETA visas for Americans, what documents and financial requirements there are, and some tips on how to get a visa and travel to and from South Korea smoothly. Keep reading to learn more!

Visa requirements for Americans

As the United States of America and the Republic of Korea are in a strategic alliance, American citizens can travel to Korea for up to 90 days visa-free with the Visa Waiver Program or VWP. But don’t get too excited, because this type of travel is just for tourism, business meetings, visiting family, or attending a conference. One also can’t apply for an extension of stay and will also need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization or ETA before arriving in Korea.

As for the basic requirements for Americans heading to Korea they include a valid passport with a few blank stamp pages. As for currency restrictions for entering or exiting, there are currently none. But, unless you are planning to visit for only 90 days then you will need the proper and valid visa as well.

Visas: Business, Employed, Unemployed, Freelancers, Students, Minors, etc.

Korea does offer a few different visa types for visitors. Your visa will most likely reflect what it is you plan to do in Korea. So a student and a business person will most likely have different visas and will require some different documentation, too.

  • Business – To come to Korea to do business there are several dozen different visa types available. However, pretty much all of them are in the D visa category. Interestingly, the D visa category, specifically the D-10 visa is the visa for those seeking employment in Korea. Usually, this visa type is only obtainable if one has come to Korea. More on that later on, though!
  • Employed – Many people come to Korea on an E-2 visa. This visa type is for individuals from designated Anglophone countries or who have studied English for a certain amount of time to come to Korea as English teachers. This visa type allows one to work but must be sponsored by a Korean employer.
  • Unemployed – As mentioned above, a D-10 visa is for those actively seeking work in Korea. You cannot enter Korea with a D-10 visa because firstly one must acquire an Alien Registration Card or ARC. But, for example, if one enters Korea on one visa, they can visit immigration to change to a D-10 and find work while still staying in Korea.
  • Freelancers – As for freelancers, the F-2 visa is for you. The F visa series is usually on a point-based system, and for many, the F-6 visa is the most common one. The F-6 visa is the visa for spouses of Korean citizens. But if you don’t plan on tying the knot before coming to Korea, then maybe apply instead for the F-2. This visa can be attained if you have high Korean language proficiency. You can prove this proficiency by taking the TOPIK or Test of Proficiency in Korean.
  • Students – While the D visa series is often related to work, students who would like to come and study in Korea at a university or elsewhere should apply for a D-2 visa. For student visa applications you will need to provide official transcripts, proof of graduation, and financial documentation to show that a student can support themself while in Korea.
  • Minors – For those under the age of 18 wanting to travel to Korea alone they will need a parent or guardian consent form and the standard K-ETA visa as one would need for the standard visitation and tourism purposes in Korea.

Possible visa problems

To try and mitigate as many problems with getting your visa as possible be sure to check, double-check, and triple-check you have all the necessary documents, have visited all the necessary offices, and have had the necessary rubber stamps stamped.

One problem I personally ran into was trying to obtain an E-2 visa while I was already in Korea having been visa-free for a few months. In order to get the proper immigration stamps, I actually had to travel to Fukuoka in Japan to visit the Korean embassy there to get my proper paperwork done. This took about 2-3 days and while it was sort of fun to travel to Fukuoka, it was also some unnecessary stress and confusion for me. When in doubt contact Korea’s immigration services and the American consulate in Korea for any more information.

K-ETA

The K-ETA stands for Korean Electronic Travel Authorization . The K ETA is a visa waiver that allows Americans to travel in Korea visa-free for up to 90 days. This was once something you could do by just pretty much showing up with a valid passport.

But today the K-ETA visa is a mandatory requirement for Americans entering Korea without any other sort of visa ready. To get one, you have to apply online on the official K-ETA visa portal site and the cost is 10,000 Korean Won which is about $10. This is non-refundable and you have to apply for a K-ETA at least 24 hours before embarking to Korea whether that is by plane, ship, or some other means (hot air balloon?).

QR code upon arrival

The Q code system is a way to shorten quarantine inspection and make the whole process a bit more convenient. The Q or QR code is a barcode that can be scanned on your phone. You can get your QR code you have to fill out a series of information online including your passport information, travel itinerary and dates, and your health information including quarantines and vaccines history.

Assuming you have filled out all the right info and your health information is deemed safe for entry you will be issued a QR code that can be downloaded on your phone. You can show this code when entering the quarantine checkpoint once getting off the plane. Though folks with a pre-issued QR code might not need some documents like a negative covid test certificate and health questionnaire, it is a good idea to provide these as well! Though mandatory quarantines have been partially lifted, the QR code is a must for those entering Korea!

Quarantine protocols

As of recently, the quarantine process has become a bit more relaxed. Those who have all of their vaccinations have a QR code, have a more or less normal temperature, and show no signs or symptoms of COVID may proceed with their trip but must also submit a PCR test within 3 days. If one has a high fever, shows symptoms of covid, etc, then you will have to quarantine for 6-7 days at a hospital and will have to pay for your stay!

Bank balances required

When entering Korea, generally a bank balance or bank statement is not required like when entering other countries. However, for people applying for student visas, the student must provide proof of at least $3,000 for a 3-4 month study experience and at least $10,000 for a year-long study experience.

Travel agencies in the United States

If you are traveling to Korea for the first time, don’t feel overwhelmed or daunted! Here is a brief list of some travel agencies that have been approved by the Korean government:

  • Aboex Travel and Tours
  • Adventure International
  • Ark Travel Express, Inc
  • First United Travel

Visa processing time

To make sure your visa is processed on time and promptly be sure to provide all your necessary documents, payments, and information on time and to the correct offices. If you have checked all of the above then your visa may take anywhere from 14 business days to 30 business days. Now, remember those are BUSINESS days so it may feel like longer. So, try to submit it on a Monday!

Just some of my tips!

I first traveled to South Korea back in 2014. I have traveled back and forth from other countries and back to South Korea again. Here are some of my tips from my experiences getting two different visa types;

  • Show up early, for any and all appointments. Some steps of the visa process will require you to show up to offices and submit documents in person.
  • Try to keep fit and healthy, many visa types will require a clean bill of health!
  • If you partake in drugs do try to quit, Korea drug tests for certain visa types and a positive drug test will complicate your ability to enter Korea.
  • Always make and carry copies of your documents, even old documents from prior visa applications.
  • The easiest way to get your visa is in your home country, I tried to acquire documents while abroad and it was a real headache and nightmare!
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for help from friends, family, your potential future employer, or the Korean or American consulates or embassies.
  • Don’t feel pressured to accept offers from recruiters or others who will try to get you to come to Korea too quickly.
  • Familiarize yourself with Korean law to make sure your visa fits what you are coming here to do, and be clear on what your rights are while in Korea.

The Visa Waiver Program in USA

The United States of America also offers a visa-free program called the Visa Waiver Program. It allows citizens of up to 40 countries to come to America for up to 90 days for business or tourism. The Republic of Korea is one of the countries included on that list. So, if you are a Korean citizen, you can come and visit America for up to 90 days. Sweet deal!

What are the situations where South Korea can deny your entry (even if you are visa-free?)

South Korea can, however, deny your entry into the country, even if you are visa-free. If you have been convicted of a crime (like violent crime, maybe some speeding tickets won’t get you banned!), if you try to enter the country with certain contraband like weapons, drugs, or “immoral paraphernalia” if you test positive for drugs if you have an invalid visa or passport, if you cannot prove your relationship with your inviter or your inviter is not qualified to invite you into the country, or if your documents can’t be verified.

Say,  Anneyanghaseyo!

Korea is known as the Land of Morning Calm. Be sure to keep calm and compile your documents and information, always be on time for visa appointments, and keep a sunny attitude. You will be enjoying  soju  and  noraebang  adventures before you know it!

[2022] KOREAN VISA Full List of Accredited Travel Agencies by the Embassy

Mello fabrique.

  • January 2, 2022
  • South Korea , Visas & Immigration

Korean Tourist Visa is one of the easiest Visas to apply and obtain by Filipinos, nowadays due to it’s straightforward process and requirements. But of course, you need to know and understand the procedures first to properly lodge your Visa application to the right channels.

As of July, 2018 , due to the rapid increase of Visa applicants, The Embassy of Korea in the Philippines no longer accepts direct applications from individuals applying for Tourist Visa except for special cases (such as a spouse or child of a Korean national/citizen, a government employee on a business trip, and the Korean Consulate in Cebu ). Otherwise, the only way to apply is through travel agencies accredited by the Embassy. Also, be guided that the Embassy does not charge a fee (for visas with stays shorter than 59 days), however accredited travel agencies do and they usually range from ( P500-P2,000 ) as processing fee.

NOTE: Korean Consulate in Cebu still accepts direct applications, so if you plan to submit your application there, here’s the address;

Entry, Exit and Visa Requirements

  • You must have a valid U.S. passport to enter Korea. From April 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024, the  Korean Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA)  is not required for US citizens for stays of 90 days or less that are for tourism or business purposes.
  • Visa required for all other purposes, including employment, teaching English, and for stays longer than 90 days.

Exceeding your authorized stay or not possessing a valid visa may result in detention and fines.

  • In the event of an overstay, apply for a visa extension from the  Korea Immigration Service (KIS)  before attempting to leave the country. Also consult with KIS regarding changes in visa category.

Military Personnel/DOD and their families on orders:

  • Consult  DOD Foreign Clearance Guide , and follow all instructions.
  • Enter Korea with DOD identification and travel orders.
  • Do not transit other countries such as China without a passport and appropriate visas.
  • Family Members/Dependents of Military Personnel/DOD on orders must present upon arrival passports valid for at least six months .

U.S. Government Executive Branch personnel on official business and DOD personnel assigned to the U.S. Embassy  (Including family members/dependents):

  • Employes assigned to Mission Korea should enter Korea with a diplomatic or official passport and a diplomatic or official Korean visa obtained through their sponsoring agency.  Check with your sponsoring agency about other requirements.
  • TDY visitors traveling to Korea for up to 90 days on diplomatic or official passports do  not  require Korean visas and do  not  require a K-ETA. TDY visitors must obtain country clearance using  Department of State's eCC system  or  DOD APACS system .

HIV/AIDS Restriction:  The Department of State is unaware of any such entry restrictions for visitors or foreign residents in Korea.

  • Visit the  Embassy of Korea  website for current visa information. Please read our  Customs Information page .

COVID-19 Requirements :

  • There are no COVID-related entry requirements for U.S. citizens.
  • Travelers are encouraged to register their travel and health information through the Quarantine COVID19 Defence (Q-Code) system BEFORE traveling to Korea in order to streamline the airport arrival process.
  • Travel regulations and restrictions are subject to change, sometimes with little notice. You should review the information available on your nearest Korean Embassy or Consulate’s webpage before traveling.

Safety and Security

Public Demonstrations:  Demonstrations and rallies are common in South Korea, particularly near the U.S. Embassy, Seoul City Hall, and areas surrounding military installations. You should avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and exercise caution in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or rallies. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.

North Korea (The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, DPRK):  An armistice agreement, monitored by the United Nations, has maintained general peace on the Korean peninsula since 1953. Tensions occasionally flare up because of provocative acts by North Korea, including ballistic missile and nuclear tests and limited armed incursions into ROK-held territory. Some provocations have escalated into geographically limited skirmishes. South Korea routinely conducts military training exercises and civil defense drills. North Korea often issues strongly-worded and threatening messages, frequently in connection with these exercises. Please see our  Fact Sheet on North Korea .

Weather-related Events:  Heavy rains and flooding may occur during the June - August monsoon season or the May - November typhoon season. See general information about natural disaster preparedness at the U.S.  Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)  website.

Enroll in the  Smart Traveler Enrollment Program  ( STEP ):  To receive security messages by email and make it easier to locate you in an emergency, register in STEP.

If the Embassy becomes aware of any specific and credible threat to the safety and security of U.S. citizens, we will inform you through our website, social media, and email.

Crime:  For most visitors, South Korea remains a very safe country. Common crimes occur more frequently in major metropolitan areas, tourist sites, and crowded markets.

  • Take routine safety precautions.
  • Pay attention to your surroundings.
  • Report any concerns to local police.

Violent crime is not common; however, remain vigilant:

  • Exercise caution in crowded entertainment, nightlife, and shopping districts.
  • If traveling at night, consider traveling in groups.
  • Use legitimate taxis or public transportation only.

Victims of Crime:  Call 112 for emergency assistance or to report a crime to local authorities. Call 02-397-4114 to contact the U.S. Embassy. We can:

  • Help you find appropriate medical care;
  • Assist you in reporting a crime to police;
  • Contact relatives or friends on your behalf;
  • Explain Korean judicial procedures in general terms;
  • Provide an emergency loan for repatriation to the United States and/or limited medical support in cases of destitution;
  • Help you find accommodations and flight arrangements to the United States;
  • Replace a lost or stolen passport.

Sexual Assault:   The Embassy regularly receives reports of sexual assault from U.S. citizens. Most cases involved young women assaulted by acquaintances they met on social media, dating, or messaging apps. Alcohol is often involved, and Korea’s low overall crime can create a false sense of security.  Specialized hospital units and police are available in South Korea to assist victims, however services in English and responsiveness to the crime are not always consistent. In general, sex crimes are not punished as harshly in South Korea as in the United States and the road to prosecution is a challenging one for victims.

Domestic Violence:  Victim’s assistance resources or battered women’s shelters exist in Seoul and other urban areas but may be limited in rural areas. Most are government administered and require a police referral. Call 112 for emergency assistance or 1366 to reach Korea’s 24-hour domestic violence hotline. Victims may also contact the Embassy, tel. (+82) 2-397-4114.

Lost or Stolen Passports:  If your passport is stolen, file a report at the nearest police station.

Don't buy counterfeit and pirated goods, even if widely available.  It is against South Korean law to purchase these goods and against U.S. law to bring them into the United States. The  Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Division in the U.S. Department of Justice  has more information.

Avoid fraud and scams:  See  Department of State  and  FBI  websites for more information.

Tourism:  The tourism industry is generally regulated and rules with regard to best practices and safety inspections are regularly enforced. Hazardous areas/activities are identified with appropriate signage and professional staff is typically on hand in support of organized activities. In the event of an injury, appropriate medical treatment is widely available throughout the country. Outside of a major metropolitan center, it may take more time for first responders and medical professionals to stabilize a patient and provide life-saving assistance. U.S. citizens are encouraged to purchase medical evacuation insurance. See our webpage for more information on  insurance providers for overseas coverage .

Local Laws & Special Circumstances

Criminal Penalties:  While in Korea, you are subject to local laws. If you violate Korean laws, you may be expelled, arrested, or imprisoned. Be aware that:

  • Immigration violations can lead to arrest, fines, and deportation.
  • There is little tolerance for illegal drugs.
  • If you mail illegal drugs to/ from Korea, you will be prosecuted.
  • Commercial disputes may lead to criminal charges being filed under local laws.

Be aware that some crimes are prosecutable in the United States, regardless of local law. For examples, see our website on  crimes against minors abroad  and the  Department of Justice  website.

Arrest Notification:  If you are arrested or detained, ask officials to notify the Embassy. See our  webpage  for further information.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Dual Nationality and Military Conscription:  Dual national males (including U.S. service members) may be subject to compulsory military service. If you have family ties to South Korea, consult the nearest Korean Embassy or Consulate or the  Korean Military Manpower Administration  regarding potential citizenship obligations  before entering South Korea .

Passport Seizures and Exit Bans:  If you are involved in a criminal investigation or commercial dispute, authorities may seize your passport and/or block your departure. While we may reissue a passport, we cannot lift an exit ban.

Exit Permits:  Exit permits are not generally required. However, if a parent requests a travel restriction on his/her child, Korean authorities may prevent that child from departing even when traveling with the other parent. As of June 1, 2020, foreigners who are long-term residents of the ROK are required to obtain a re-entry permit four business days prior to departure from Korea. The permits are available online through an e-application at the  www.hikorea.go.kr  website.

International Child Abduction:  See our website for information related to the  prevention of international child abduction .

Working in South Korea:  If working, including teaching or modeling, you must enter with the appropriate work visa. It is not possible to change your visa status without leaving the country. If you begin work without the appropriate visa, you may be arrested, fined, and/or deported. If you are working without a valid work permit and get into a contractual dispute with your employer, you have little legal recourse.

Students:  See our  Students Abroad  page and  FBI travel tips .

Women Travelers:  See our travel tips for  Women Travelers .

ROK National Security Law:  Authorities may detain, arrest, and imprison persons believed to have committed acts intended to endanger the “security of the state,” including statements deemed to praise the political system and/or officials of the DPRK.

Customs Regulations: There is strict enforcement of regulations on importing and exporting items such as firearms, narcotics and prescription drugs, non-prescription health supplements, radio equipment, and gold. Importation of materials deemed to be obscene, subversive, or harmful to the public peace is also restricted.

  • Amphetamines are illegal in Korea. Do not bring amphetamines or other prescription narcotics into the country without obtaining advance permission in writing from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. See the  U.S. Embassy Seoul, Health Information page .
  • Traveling with Pets: See  Korea’s Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency  website.

See the  Korean Customs Regulations website for complete information.

LGBTI Travelers:  Consensual same-sex sexual activity is not criminalized. Korea is a conservative country in regards to LGBTI issues. However, there are an increasing number of LGBTI-oriented clubs, festivals and NGOs advocating for LGBTI issues. The ROK National Human Rights Commission Act prohibits discrimination against individuals because of their sexual orientation, but there are no laws specifying punishment for persons found to have discriminated on this basis. Same-sex marriages are not recognized. Korean citizens can legally change their gender identity.

See   our  LGBTI Travel Information  page and section 6 of the  Department of State's Human Rights report  for further details.

Mobility Issues:  Korean law mandates access to transportation, communication, and public buildings. Cross walks typically have audio and visual signals. Older buildings and streets are generally less accessible than modern ones. Metro cars and buses in Seoul offer priority seating for the disabled and most metro stations have elevators. Metro platforms include Korean Braille information. Contact individual bus companies and subway associations for specific information. Foreign residents are eligible for disability assistance from local ward offices; assistance varies by ward.

Quality of Care : Western-style medical facilities are available in most large cities. However, not all doctors and staff, are proficient in English. A  list of hospitals  and medical specialists who speak English is available on our website. For emergency ambulance service dial 119. Ambulance services are widely available. For information on medical evacuation from South Korea, please see the State Department’s brochure on  Air Ambulance/MedEvac/Medical Escort Providers .

We do not pay medical bills.  Be aware that U.S. Medicare does not apply overseas. Verify your health insurance coverage before traveling overseas. See our webpage for information on  insurance providers for overseas coverage . In most cases, health care providers will require payment in advance of treatment or will not release a patient until hospital bills are paid. We strongly recommend supplemental insurance to include coverage for medical evacuation.

Medication:  Carry prescription medication in original packaging, along with your doctor’s prescription. Most prescription medications, except psychotropic types, can be obtained at Korean pharmacies (brand names often differ). Local pharmacies will require a prescription from a Korean doctor.

Update  vaccinations  recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

For further health information go to:

  • World Health Organization
  • U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  (CDC)

COVID-19 Testing:

  • Travelers should contact Korean local health providers to determine the location of testing facilities within Korea. A non-comprehensive list of some COVID-19 testing facilities can be found on the  Embassy website .

COVID-19 Vaccines:

  • The COVID-19 vaccine is   available for U.S. citizen residents in Korea.
  • Review the Korean government’s  Vaccination Guide for Foreign Nationals in Korea  and  COVID-19 Booster Shot Guideline for Foreign Nationals  on COVID-19 vaccinations in Korea.
  • Visit the FDA's website to  learn more about FDA-approved vaccines  in the United States.

Travel and Transportation

Road Conditions and Safety:  Roads are well-paved, traffic signals functional, and most drivers comply with basic traffic laws. South Korea has a significantly higher traffic fatality rate than the United States. Causes of accidents include excessive speed, frequent lane changes without signaling, running red lights, aggressive bus drivers, and weaving motorcyclists. It is recommended that you photo document any traffic accidents.

Be aware that motorcyclists may drive on sidewalks, and drivers do not always yield to pedestrians in marked crosswalks.

Traffic Laws include:

  • International driving permit (or ROK license) is required for all drivers.
  • Left-hand turns prohibited except with green arrow.
  • Seat belts and car seats are mandatory.
  • Motorcycle passengers must wear helmets.
  • Automobile drivers are presumed to have some fault in accidents involving pedestrians.
  • Expect long waits at police stations while police investigate any incidents.
  • Police may take your passport or detain you during an investigation.
  • Even if negligence is not proven, criminal charges may be filed.
  • Blood-alcohol content of 0.03% or higher is considered legally intoxicated.
  • Police regularly set up DUI checkpoints. Drivers are required to submit to breathalyzer tests; refusal can result in cancellation of your license.

For information about driver's permits, vehicle inspection, road tax, and mandatory insurance, refer to our  Road Safety page . You may also visit the  Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) website.

AVIATION SAFETY OVERSIGHT:  The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has assessed the Government of the Republic of Korea's Civil Aviation Authority as being in compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) aviation safety standards for oversight of the ROK's air carrier operations. Further information may be found on the  FAA's Safety Assessment Page .

Maritime Travel:  Mariners planning travel to South Korea should check for U.S. maritime advisories and alerts at the U.S. Department of Transportation’s  Maritime Security Communications with Industry Web Portal . Information may also be posted to the  U.S. Coast Guard homeport website  and as a broadcast warning on the  National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s website .

What is a Visa?

A citizen of a foreign country who seeks to enter the United States generally must first obtain a U.S. visa, which is placed in the traveler’s passport, a travel document issued by the traveler’s country of citizenship or nationality.

Certain international travelers may be eligible to travel to the United States without a visa if they meet the requirements for visa-free travel under the  Visa Waiver Program .  The Visa section of this website is all about U.S. visas for foreign citizens to travel to the United States.  If you cannot find what you are looking for here, please visit  Travel.State.gov  for additional information.

Note: U.S. citizens do not need a U.S. visa for travel to the United States, but when planning travel abroad a U.S. citizen may need a visa issued by the embassy or consulate of the country they wish to visit.

Moscow’s new suburban rail lines dramatically improve commutes!

korean visa travel agency

The first two of the five lines of the MCD were launched November 21: the MCD1 line goes to Odintsovo (west) and Lobnya (north), while MCD2 to Podolsk (south) and Nakhabino (west). These towns are some 20-30 km from Moscow, and are inhabited by hundreds of thousands of people traveling to Moscow on business each day.

Vladimir Putin at the opening of the MCD.

Vladimir Putin at the opening of the MCD.

Both lines cross over with central Moscow stations, as well as those on the outskirts. You can change over to the Moscow Central Circle or the metro (there is a total of 27 stations where you can make the switch). These changes allow for getting to and from the city center much faster and more conveniently than commuter trains.

korean visa travel agency

Why does Moscow need the MCD?

The MCD will add to the function of the commuter trains, easing part of the daily burden experienced by those lines, as well as reduce car traffic in and out of town. The MCD runs every 5-10 minutes with only a four-hour break at night. The reason the new trains are referred to as Diameters is that they travel not just to Moscow’s main intercity stations, but also from one city on the outskirts of Moscow all the way to another one situated at the other end.

korean visa travel agency

The service runs similar to an ordinary Metro, from 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Directions are available in English, so you won’t get lost.

One important change you must remember is the Aeroexpress trains to Sheremetyevo airport now run differently than before: now one ride from the Belorussky railway to Sheremetyevo will take 50 minutes - instead of the usual 35. Also, on the way from the airport, Belorussky railway will no longer be the final stop - Odintsovo will. But there will also be a few new stations that cross over with the regular metro - in the Moscow City district, on Begovaya, Fili and Kuntsevskaya. All of these interlink with the regular metro.

korean visa travel agency

New internet-capable trains

The MCD trains - in accordance with the Russian custom with giving names of birds to every new train route - will carry the name Ivolga (Russian word for “Eurasian golden oriole”). The carriages are outfitted with bike racks, luggage and stroller compartments, power sockets and USB chargers with every seat, as well as free Wi-Fi - as is the case with all of Moscow’s urban transport.

korean visa travel agency

39 trains are currently operational.

Free transfers!

Prior to the MCD appearing, passengers wanting to switch between city and suburban trains had to buy separate tickets. The MCD greatly simplifies the process: now you simply need to use your Troika card at the MCD ticket stalls. There are two tariffs - city (38 rubles, or $0.6) and regional (45 rubles, $0.8; meaning cities just on the outskirts of Moscow - not the entire region). If you need to go further afield into the Moscow region, beyond the MCD, then your Troika card will be charged an additional $0.35 (23 rubles) to transfer to the ‘elektrichka’ (electrical commuter trains).

korean visa travel agency

Switching between MCD and metro trains is free for a 90-minute window, irrespective of the tariff. However, if you don’t check out of the station at the exit stalls, your Troika card will be blocked, and require around $2.30 (150 rubles) to unlock.

korean visa travel agency

You can also pay via Apple Pay, Google Pay, Mastercard PayPass and Visa PayPass.

Will there be other ‘diameters’?

korean visa travel agency

Several more MCD are slated to launch before 2025 - the MCD3 (from Ramenskoye to Zelenograd), MCD4 (Zheleznodorozhny to Aprelevka) and MCD5 (from Domodedovo to Pushkino). Right now, the passenger load of the first two Diameters is estimated at 900,000 per day. All five Diameters will serve more than 330 million Moscow passengers every year.

2022 List of Accredited Travel Agencies for KOREAN VISA Application

  • Travel Guidelines

' src=

Here’s the list of TRAVEL AGENCIES officially accredited by the Korean Embassy to accept KOREAN VISA APPLICATIONS, with addresses and phone numbers.

South Korea is one of the most popular destinations for Filipino tourists, so when the country announced that they’re opening quarantine-free travel for international travelers early this year, revenge travelers rejoiced! Soon after this announcement, the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines resumed processing tourist visas.

As of writing, there are two ways you can apply for a tourist visa.

  • By scheduling an individual appointment through the Korean Embassy’s Online Visa Appointment System . More info here.
  • By coursing your application though a travel agency accredited by the Korean Embassy .

Please note that walk-ins are no longer accepted at the embassy.

Because of the huge volume of applications, securing an appointment through the website is a bit of a challenge at the moment, so having the option to process it through a travel agency is great. It is also a more ideal option for those who don’t have much free time and those who are located outside Metro Manila. The Embassy has designated 36 travel agencies, but many of them have branches in other parts of the Philippines.

Here are the travel agencies that are accredited by the South Korean Embassy for visa processing. We sorted it by location to make it easier for you to find those close to you.

WHAT’S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?

The Embassy has accredited 10 travel agencies in the City of Manila, but two of them have multiple branches across the city.

Do you recommend any accredited travel agency?

If you’re from Makati or other parts of the south, consider applying via Constellation Travel . If you’re from the northern areas of Metro Manila, try International Journeys in Quezon City.

  • Constellation Travels, Inc. Address: 2/F CSJ Bldg., 105 Aguirre St., Legazpi Village, Makati City Contact No.: 02-8991-0000
  • International Journeys, Inc Address: Lower Ground Floor, 886 Z-Square Mall, Banawe Street, Quezon City. (NEW ADDRESS) (Former location is at 2/F Ivy Hill Residences, Taft Avenue, Manila, but it has since moved visa operations to Quezon City) Phone No.: 0917 630 1238, 0917 622 5254

These two accredited travel agencies help us keep this website updated when it comes to visa-related content, so it would mean a lot to us if you course your application through them.

Do I need to schedule an appointment with the Korean Embassy if I’m applying via a travel agency?

NO. The designated travel agency must make the appointment on your and other applicants’ behalf.

Are there additional requirements if I apply via a travel agency?

Yes! If you’re planning on applying via a travel agency, you also need to submit a Letter of Attorney for Visa Application on top of all the standard requirements.

You may download the template here .

How much is the fee when applying for a Korean Visa via an accredited travel agency?

Usually between P700 and P1500. Different agencies charge different rates.

Note that the actual visa is FREE OF CHARGE. The Korean Embassy doesn’t collect payment. What you’re paying for here is the service fee charged by the travel agency.

Can a travel agency refuse to accept an application?

Yes. Just like on individual applications, the Korean Embassy has implemented a limit or quota to the number of applications that each accredited travel agency may submit. Hence, travel agencies may stop accepting applications if they feel like they have reached that limit or if the backlog piles up.

The Korean Embassy sometimes posts the number of pending applications per agency on the VISA ANNOUNCEMENTS page. This should give you an idea which agency has a lot of applications on their plate.

A travel agency may also refuse your application based on its assessment or on other factors relevant to the documents you submit.

Can I apply via a travel agency that is not accredited by the Korean Embassy?

Yes. As of this writing, other travel agencies may still book an appointment with the Korean Embassy online but they are subject to availability of slots per day.

In addition, Some non-accredited travel agencies may course an application through an accredited travel agency. This is sometimes the scenario in provinces without any accredited agency. A non-accredited local agency may choose to submit it to a partner agency that is designated by the Embassy. But because of the layers, this set up tends to cost more.

2022 List of Accredited Travel Agencies for KOREAN VISA Application

admin
